Bush Presidential Center! We visited on Memorial Day. There's a parking lot right across the street - parking was easy & cost $10.00 (if I'm not mistaking). Right on the campus of SMU, the center is beautifully surrounded. The center has a bunch of discounts for entry, I did not fit any of those criteria so my admission was $26. Everything was very informative & we enjoyed all of the interactive elements. I loved the decision-making simulator, it really puts things into perspective. I also loved getting to see all of the gifts that President George W. Bush received while in office. Seeing the oval-office remake was also a wonderful experience. There is an option to get your picture taken. I enjoyed seeing all of the 9/11 exhibits, always brings a tear to my eye - they did an incredible job with the exhibitions. It’s mostly a standard museum exhibit wise but there are a few things that really make it stand out. First, it has an in depth explanation of some of his more controversial policies such as No Child Left Behind and the Iraq War, as well as highlighting some of his major successes like PEPFAR and protecting over 3M acres of wetlands. Obviously there was a bit of a slant in terms of how things were presented but it was still informative in nature. Second, it has a replica of the Oval Office, you do have to pay for a photo op but I think it’s worth it. There is also a Rose Garden replica outside which is where George and Laura will be buried someday. Third, there is a piece of metal from the Twin Towers on display which you can actually touch. That whole section was emotionally moving, you got to hear him say his famous “and those people who knocked the towers down will hear from all of us very soon” quote while you are looking at the images of what happened that day. And fourth, I think the best part of the museum is the Decision Points theater, which is an interactive game you can play where you choose what to do during several key moments of the Bush administration. You get policy advice from “experts” and see breaking news before making a final decision, and then you get to see Bush explain why he did what he actually did. Since I was the only one in the theater, I got to pick all three scenarios I did, and my decision was the “final one” (normally if more people play it’s whatever the group collectively decides). The gift shop at the end has a couple of his books and a lot of baseball related souvenirs, as well as Bush/ Cheney campaign merchandise. If you have small kids they may like the reversible donkey/ elephant plush toy. You do have to pay for parking, it’s ten bucks but it’s right across the street. In closing I would like to say that even though I disagreed with many of his policies (having grown up in a Democratic family), I think George W. Bush was a true leader who cared for the people of this nation and always did what he felt was the right thing. Sometimes those policies worked and other times they didn’t but you will see how much he cared by visiting this museum and listening to him give speeches at some of the exhibits… lastly, make sure you check out the somewhat hidden video right after the Rose Garden, there is a short clip of him singing in a cowboy hat which is really funny whether you like him or don’t. Just a little protip, buy a small clear purse so it is see-through it makes things easier for the staff. The lobby has plenty of tables and chairs. It was safe, lighted and there were always people/police around so it wasn’t secluded. Getting out was way easier too. As for seating: I’ve gotten both nosebleeds tickets and suite tickets for events. For the concert, they did NOT turn on the screen so that kind of stunk but it was still super fun. Fun times at the AAC!

When we arrived, the room had a musty odor (similar to mildew).  Called to request if someone from housekeeping could bring a room deodorizer.  They sent someone while we were away at dinner.  When we returned, the room smelled somewhat better but wasn't worth the additional call or hassle of moving (assuming there would be a room available).  When we were preparing for bed we realized the water pressure (cold) in the sink and shower was low and trickled.  Therefore, taking a shower took twice as long given the time to rinse due to pressure of water.  Didn't complain, just asked if an engineer could come and check this out while we were out.  We assumed it was done but the water pressure remained as is.  While showering we noticed that the shower gel was empty.  Asked for this to be filled while away, was never done.  Just seemed like the hotel was short staffed given things were never followed up on to ensure they were done.  The only thing that was followed up on was the smell (thank you for the treats for the inconvenience). Also, when we checked in, we made our reservation with Amex Platinum, the front desk attendant never welcomed us nor mentioned any of the amenities included with the rate.  No upgrade was offered even when there were upgrades available (called and spoke to someone who said they would look into it and just said that they didn't offer as the room we had reserved had outdoor space. Given the heat, outdoor space was not used and this should still have been offered.  No mention of anything other than here is a welcome letter.  Just too many misses for a 5 star hotel such as The Mansion. Lastly, the pool service.....First, total miss is allowing day passes as this means that you could have a number of day passes that then take spots for paid guests of the hotel.  We attempted to find spots all day Saturday only to be disappointed.  Finally when we were able to get a spot at 5 PM, I asked the pool attendant if they could set up the seats (not the waiter - latin), I was told and pointed to where I could find towels to set up myself....Wow, what a miss.  Didn't make a deal of it but this would never happen at any other 5 star property.  Most pool attendants would be happy to help even if they said, "please give me a moment..... ", this didn't happen.  Just seems like there is some training that needs to happen.  Hopefully when we return, some of these things will be resolved.

The location of this establishment for us couldn't have been more perfect. Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, it gave us, the perfect opportunity to walk almost anywhere in the city, and that in which we couldn't reach, was a short drive away. The apartment building itself was fairly nice once entering, with an extra layer of security, both to access main door, room doors, and elevators. Security, area, and people we ran into all made for a pretty safe feeling environment. Noise levels were low, couldn't hear neighbors at all and had great night's rest, while, also a great sense of privacy from others. Room itself was one of the coolest places we've stayed, while, still had room for growth. It was two stories, plentiful spacious, equipped with mostly everything you'd need, two showers, multiple beds, outer deck with the most incredible view of the city, and a hot tub. However, the ceiling was leaking and looked as if at some point it might come through. The hot tub had some broken spots, and it took an entire day to even think about heating up, the downstairs shower didn't work, at all, and the elevator regularly didn't want to read the ID, and or, made you do it multiple times (once, we thought we were stuck.) When all said and done, I'd absolutely stay here again, and judging from an airbnb stay, I cannot speak for those living long term as regular tenants, but, I believe it safe, secure, and located in an awesome area. But, the building in general is in dire need of some TLC and maintenance, before, the potential of such an awesome place starts to fade away...

Do not recommend anything owned my Brookfield properties, when we viewed our unit we saw that it has two ACs and the one at the front of our unit was broken, the vinyl wraps they placed on the cabinets had peeled off, so much dirt and dust built up around the air vents and our master bathroom reeked of pee. They swore up and down everything will be fixed and taken care of by the time we move in, they had two months to fix everything! The day comes, we get our keys and met with disappointment that not a single person has stepped foot in there to fix any of the issues. We had to deal with no AC the first month of moving in and this was in August, literally the hottest time and they had no urgency or communication. We had to clean the apartment ourselves and I had to put baking powder to sit on our bathroom floor overnight to get rid of the pee smell. The maintenance crew are overworked having to manage two other buildings on top of the Wilson and it is a small group of them. They are nice and helpful but a small number of them cannot fix all the issues between 3 buildings, that’s insane and I can’t believe they won’t hire more workers to maintain all buildings. We also had a surprise when it rained, if you live on the very top you will experience your ceilings to leak. Our back bedroom was constantly leaking and they did nothing to fix it the entire year we lived there. Their solution to it was painting over it giving the landlord special rather than fixing the leak. There are also roaches that come out, thankfully I never had a huge issue with them and have only seen a handful of them the year I’ve been here but other people that live here have had much worse. The people at the office don’t do anything or seem to care, when I went into the office to complain on why they haven’t fixed the issue of our AC when we first moved in one of them made a tasteless joke out of it. AC in the back of the apartment broke the last few months of living here!!! And this time it took them 3 months to fix!!! I had to report them to the city which BTW is the best way and quickest way to get them to fix things! This company is a joke and ruined such a beautiful historical building that deserves a lot of love and care. Also, they don’t care if homeless people get in the building so there is zero safety for the amount of money I pay for rent and also hidden fees!!! We moved out today which was also the biggest headache trying to get a hold of someone in the office two weeks prior to moving to use the freight elevator and they can’t even be bothered to get back to you. You call the office and it sends you voicemail and a text from AI, went to the office to speak to someone in person and the only one there was the concierge who is completely incompetent and can’t be bothered to help with anything or provide anything useful.
