When it first opened back in 2018, it was Dishoom’s first restaurant in Northern England, and since then they’ve set a remarkable standard of both food and service quality and certainly left me coming back for more. The interior is super impressive, cool and unique. Dishoom is based on the old Irani cafés in Bombay, and the interior is so large and feels like no other restaurant in the city. My go-to dishes are the Chicken Ruby with Basmati Rice and occasionally the Gunpowder Potatoes. The portion sizes are generous, and the rich spices of the curry are super good — it’s obvious they use great quality ingredients and seasonings. For drinks, again the selection is vast, with my favourites being the regular Chai and the Mango Lassi, which are both really good. There is always a staff member walking around topping up tap water, so you’ll never go thirsty. The pricing is a little high, but I feel it is worth it for the quality. Matka Holders can also roll a dice at the end of their meal to potentially earn everything for free, food and alcohol included, during certain times. This makes it all fun, being able to put the meal on the roll of a dice. Due to having an allergy, I can scan a QR code on the menu for the latest information, and all the staff members are well trained in dealing with allergies. They’re aware of coeliac disease and the danger of cross-contamination, and always keep my items separate from my friends’ when I dine in a group. Overall, this is one of the places to be in Manchester if you’re looking for good food with fantastic allergy awareness, overall ambience/vibes, food and service quality. The place is too big. We had Butter chicken(Chicken Ruby), Dal makhani and Mattar Paneer out of which I liked Chicken Ruby and Mattar Paneer the most. Dal Makhani was okayish. The pulled pork benedict was definitely the best thing on the menu, but the variety of options is also good, and their poached eggs did not disappoint once. The room was just out of this world. Spacious, very clean and had an industrial vibe. All amenities catered for every need possible. The toiletries were gorgeous (and yes there is a hairdryer too). I really like their brunch selection; however, I do find their dinner section could require improvement, as there aren’t too many dishes I’d regularly go for. Food quality is usually good. My favourite dishes include the brunch steak and eggs — the eggs taste high-quality and free-range, the steak is juicy and tasty, and the fries are crispy. The gluten-free pancakes are also really tasty, thick, and filling, and it’s rare you find this on the menu. Be sure to check out their regular promotions on the pancakes, as they include gluten-free! From their dinner menu, the fish pie is always a good choice. The staff here are lovely, and the service is great. I usually disagree with adding service charges onto the bill, but the staff here always justify that they deserve it.

They also boast Nells Pizza. It's delicious, although we opted for one slice after a large breakfast (elsewhere) as opposed to the 14 or 22 inch pizzas they also offer. The 'Do you like Roni Honey' was amazing! N'duja and pepperonifrom Cobble Lane, tomato sauce, mozzarella and finished with chilli honey and parmasan.

Was so quiet when we went and we got to sit in a booth. Was so lovely in there, could’ve stayed for hours it was so cosy. The staff were warm, friendly, which was always good to see. The menu is nicely varied and the cocktails were good so it was a bright start. However, the food was a letdown for the price. For £24 (before service charge) I had the cod, which was quite bland, all the seasoning was on the skin, served with a small portion of sweet potato mash and a radish salad that felt more like an oversized garnish than a side, it already had lettuce, what was the need. It just didn’t come together, and for the cost, I expected much better quality and flavor. Other dishes looked just ok and again would not justify the price. After searching for a place to charge my phone which a lot of places have stopped doing which I don’t know why, I was recommended to this place. While they have gotten rid of the portable charging machines, they let me charge it behind the bar and the woman behind the bar herself really couldn’t have been more accommodating. She was infectious, I believe she might have been Aussie or NZ so if the management know who she is, please give her praise. The drinks are cheap for what you’re getting cause the quality is actually unbelievable and I’m talking about brew dogs own made spirits. My dad was 80 years old that day and he loves nothing more than a pub lunch, especially in these less rowdy environments, where you can take your time spend time with family and enjoy the food, drinks and environment. As 8/12 of us arrived for the bottomless brunch and we told our server that we were waiting on four others to arrive, to which our server said we could wait to start our bottomless until the others arrived. We ordered our first drinks/food at 8:25 and received several rounds of drinks. The only criticism is that due to it being busy we had to walk up to the till to ask for more drinks as most of us (bar two) had finished our drinks. In addition, we were given prosecco upon arrival as we waited for drinks; this was a very good touch and that kept us occupied. The food was good; and the service ball rang several times yet the venue was very busy so this is understood (all of our food arrived warm and at the same time). The only criticism I would add is the lack of evening like food on the menu with most items being breakfast items. As bottomless is permitted at most times of the day to cater to more individuals perhaps one or two additional menu items may be added and also relieve pressure on the kitchen instead of making 10+ breakfasts alongside pizza/burgers/main menu etc. We were given our last drinks before 10 but were able to put through two rounds at once. Although our bottomless seemed to be a little cut short as we first ordered around 8:30; we received a good amount of drinks. We were not rushed out the venue and had all the time we needed to finish our drinks. After asking for everyone’s opinion, we will definitely be returning sometime in the near future!! We ordered at the bar in couples, our friends were over charged by nearly £20 due to not being given the correct discount for the lunch deal. Our friend could see the fries she had ordered sat on the pass while all of the FOH staff sat round one table on their phones. My meal then arrived, with my friend’s chips still sat on the pass. The server then asked if we were waiting for anything else, we said that we were still waiting for two meals and she looked very confused and then just laughed and walked off, which was just incredibly odd. She then went to check with the kitchen and came back and told us that the ticket must have been lost. This might have made sense however the two meals we had received were one from each of our two separate orders, so the excuse just wasn’t true. We eventually received a third meal and then watched as my partners meal (the last meal) sat on the pass while the three FOH staff sat on their phones laughing at something a couple of tables over from us. Eventually one of the girls noticed the food ready on the pass and brought it over. There was no check back on food, no apology from any of the staff including the manager. It was clear we were all very unhappy with the service but that no one working cared at all. This whole situation was made worse that for the majority of our time in the restaurant we were the only table there! I never complain or leave negative reviews but I was so upset with how we were treated after spending around £120 between us. We all understand that mistakes can be made but with the amount of staff in and us being the only customers in, it’s just no where near good enough.

To top it off when we paid the bill through the app the “discretionary service charge of 12.5%” isn’t discretionary because you can’t take it off. You can only choose to not tip even more than that. The atmosphere was nice. Overall disappointed, basically paid £25 for a burger and chips that was ok. The platter was very sub par. Wouldn’t go back without big changes.

My husband and I called in last night for a couple drinks pre Gaga but realised how hungry we were so decided to share a burger and fries (which we upgraded to poutine fries) and the salt and pepper wings and all I can say is WOW. The burger was ridiculously good, soft bun, crispy juicy patties, my mouth is watering just as thinking about it 😂 and my husband couldn’t get enough of the wings. The atmosphere and decoration was nice, I would recommend the sushi and sides but not the mains. So much flavour and quality ingredients on tinny plate 🙌well done🙌 The least favourite was the beef brisket waffles. It was dry really dry and lacking flavour. We were missing maybe some good old fashioned maple syrup? Or any sweet&sour sauce that would make this dish complete 🤔 Regardless the one dish that we were not huge fan of the experience was great. Their service is outstanding massive thank you to Natalie who always made sure we have everything we need😍 there is still a lot more that we want to try so we certainly will be returning 🎉

However on the Friday we were walking past and decided to nip in for a cocktail. First impressions were confusion... why was it absolutely dead at about 6:15pm on a Friday evening. He was surly / grunty and needs to learn how to crack a smile. Zero warmth or customer service. Beer choice was also poor, my other half is into craft beers etc so ended up getting a soft drink. Every bite was consistent with that same taste as the first bite which I believe is crucial in any dish. The place was vibrant and welcoming with a nice atmosphere. Cocktails need attention, I hardly ever send drinks back but I just couldn't drink it. Food is good, I did expect better but I think with a few tweaks and some nicer plates and decor they could do really well. Upstairs was much more inviting, softer lighting, better playlist, more relaxed. Downstairs feels a little lost, like they ran out of money. Hope it grows because I wanted to like it more than I did but I will go back in a month or so and see what they have done to improve. Staff were saving grace.

Not an issue per-se but Itallian takes on the Espresso Martini using liqueurs like frangelico, Dissaronno or Galliano might be welcome additions.
