I liked it, but I was surprised to find at the end that the underground tour part wasn't actually authentic, but just a recreation. Shame they can't send you down the actual pit like many mine tours do. I guess this one the shafts have been capped or is otherwise unsafe. That said it was very well done.

A good place to visit for about 2-3 hours. Intesting place, english information sheet and listening device for the tour and museum. The mine tour was good. Lots of parking and toilets.

Amazing place. The museum is super cool, it explains in very nice way all about mining on the region and on the site. The visit to the simulated mine is as well cool.

I turn up at 1300 on a Friday 27 June to find the restaurant is 'full' yet it remains empty. I am informed that I have to attend the tour at 1330 and after that ONLY then am I free to visit the museum. Therefore they think I wait 30 minutes doing nothing! Little do then know it's likely I know more about mining than they do! Thankfully this place was only one of many I am visiting and I highly recommend visiting the locally run museums, ran by volunteers who worked those particular mines. This is an attraction for those with no prior knowledge of mining!

Great attraction showing how minig has changed through the ages. Includes information on how the miners worked and lived. Well presented and a great day out.

I never thought that I could enjoy this type of visit that much. The museum is so realistic, you have the feeling of going back to the past. Count minimum 3hours for a full visit and wear comfortable shoes, it's important.🤪 There's a small shop for souvenirs, many other activities for almost all ages throughout the year. If you're visiting the Nord-Pas-de-Calais, then you should definitely stop by this museum. It's worth your curiosity especially if you like history though this one isn't a joyful one. To those who have read "Germinal" of Emile Zola, this museum is the best way to feel like you were present in those days, meanwhile many of us weren't even born when it all happened.😊

Really nice museum, with a very nice collection. There are lots of stuff and info for small and big. The entry to the "mine" is very informative. If you plan to go plan atleast three hours to have time enough to get all the information. We spent nearly three hours with two children and did not manage to see it all. The reason for only 4 stars is the missing information in English in the permanent exhibition.

Great place to visit! Really reasonably priced. A number of the exhibits were closed for renovations so we weren't able to see everything. Would definitely recommend a trip to the Zoo if you're visiting Lille!

Zoo de Lille is very good for the price! We were pleasantly surprised by a wide range of animals in the zoo. The attraction unfortunately at the moment is under renovation which I imagine will be complete by summer season (2025.) Despite the building work we still managed to spend well over an hour at the zoo. It’s worth noting this is not a whole day attraction and will only take you a few hours at most.

Fabulous small zoo with many birds and small mammals. Lots of space in the enclosures. Takes about 1 hour to walk round. Can wander amongst tropical birds so watch out for their deposits from above 🤭

A lovely, compact, well-kept zoo, ideal for families with small children. Suitably priced (as at 2025 it is €6 for adult and about €3 for children) as it is took about an hour and a half go through with a short stop for lunch. There are no large animals like elephants, rhinos, hippos, zebra etc. but a nice selection of smaller ones which were great to see - playful meerkats, sleepy warthogs and tapirs, porcupine, tortoise, an array of birds, red panda. The zoo was well-maintained, not an overload of signage, small amounts of information (name of the animal in English) and lots of clear spacious paths, a huge amount of greenery so it felt more like you were visiting animals in their natural habitats. Throughout the zoo they featured large glossy photos of their animals. No wait to enter in summer holidays. Free toilet access inside the zoo. Small lunch option (toasties and crepes, ice creams etc). A lift available for disabled visitors to access areas with steps. Good links via bus if preferring that to a walk from the heart of Lille. Outside the zoo there is a large play area and mini theme park so worth visiting this area with young ones!

Small, but very amazing zoo. Cheap entree fee. Not to busy, so you can watch most of the animals in peace. Very fun, would recommend!!

Not a bad little zoo. Part of it was closed when we went. Although it's small, it has some nice enclosures and some animals not often encountered in zoos. It could use a few more zoo maps as they seem to be few. Also, beware of Google Maps if you're walking and looking for the zoo. It sent us on a 50 minute journey around the citadel rather than the MUCH shorter direct route.

amazing for the price, much bigger than we expected! took about 3 hours to properly go around. one thing i have to say is i'm not sure how ethical it is to have pallas's cats which are adapted to cold environments, especially due to the heatwave - a lot of the animals were visibly struggling with the heat but of course this is out of the zoos control for the most part

France, a country notorious among travelers for its challenging reputation, turned out to be far more charming than I expected. And for me, Lille had even more appeal than Paris. If I ever return to France, there’s no question I’ll be coming back to Lille.

Lille is a beautiful city. The buildings are so architecturally stunning. Plenty to see and do on our 3 days trip. Lots of restaurants and coffee, patisseries. Yummy. Our hotel Mercure grand place was extremely good value and breakfast fabulous. Will visit again when its maybe not so hot 🥵

Absolutely gorgeous! 🥰 Very lively during the day and mesmerising at night with all the beautiful illuminations. It reminded me of Brussels in a way. It’s definitely a must when in Lille. Plenty of restaurants and cafés in its surroundings.

Amazing and spacious square where you can admire several architectural beauties of lille. It can get crowded and there are beggars and homeless people around it, so watch out for your stuff, or help if possible.

Only had an hour in Lille before heading for the ferry at Calais so of course we headed straight for the Grand Place & the surrounding streets of the Vieux-Lille to look at the buildings & soak up some Lille vibes….& it was all positive apart from one thing - the stench of the sewers :/

The areas of the town squares are nice. There are many nice decorations around and some good stores where people can buy stuff. One thing I don't like is the fact that cars are allowed to operate within the pedestrian area, with no traffic lights and no signs. Really, man? Who's dumb idea was that? People who walk and cyclists can get hurt, especially children. This stupidity was abolished in 99% of the European cities I've visited, except for Lille. Seriously... Compared to Szeged, Charleroi, Novi Sad and Timișoara, which are superior cities, Lille sucks in that case. 👎 Those are a few examples. ☝️ I've visited many cities all across Europe and Asia. Naming all of them would take 100 days. I know Lille can become good. It really needs better laws and improvements. Other than that, I see good things too. The surroundings look nice. 👍

Well worth the visit, especially, in my opinion, those with kids as they will absolutely love the immersive (recreated) dug out and trenches. An impressive making and simulation of what a trench would look or feel like. The museum is packed with information, mostly relating to the battle of Passchendale itself but also to the wider western front. The Audi guides are a great tool to have to guide you throughout and the museum itself sits in a wider memorial park area which is just beautiful. There is more parking a little further up the road if the main car park is full. Plenty of spaces to have a picnic in the surrounding parks. The museum itself probably hosts the friendliest and helpful staff you could ever encounter.

What a wonderful museum dedicated to the soldiers of WW1. The audio guide has all the information about each room and bunkers you visit. For me the most moving insight was the interactive cinema which gave an insight into the hard, difficult conditions the soldier's fought in. The underground tunnels and trenches were also an interesting eye opener into the fighting in WW1. Allow at least a couple of hours to really appreciate the whole museum

An essential visit for anyone interested in not only the military side of the 1917 battle but also the impact on the civilians. For me, this was a deeply personal and emotional visit as my Great Grandfather served the 1917 Battle and kept a diary of his experiences of being a British Gunner in the Royal Garrison Artillery. Amazingly the diary survived and therefore I visited as part of my research into his experiences and thanks to this museum I learned so much more. The trenches experience was really interesting and there is an excellent audio guide that takes you through the whole museum. We didn't buy tickets in advance but had no wait to enter. There is a shop and cafe nearby.

What a beautiful museum,ao much history of what happened at Passendale. You get to experience the underground living of the troops and has a wide selection of artifacts from the war. Some things putting things into perspective. You can also just spend time in their park which is also clean and scenic...just avoid the tour groups of children...most of them still have alot of energy from the long bus rides 😅

Cool museum, especially the recreation of the dug-outs and trenches are noteworthy. Also I suggest taking a few minutes for the immersive experience on the battle of Passendale.

The scale of this cemetery is staggering - it isn't just the number of graves but how many are unknown soldiers. I visited for several reasons. First is that my Great Grandfather fought in the 3rd Battle of Ypres and not only did he miraculously survived but so did the diary he kept of his experiences. I know that some of his comrades died and possibly buried here/named on the memorial wall so I wanted to pay my respects. There is also a memorial to the Sherwood Foresters, which several of my family members were part of so wanted to view this too. Finally my Great Uncle Charles, who was a Sherwood Forester, was killed in action locally but has no known grave. My research points to this being one of the two possible last resting places for him. It would take hours to view each grave, and we had limited time here, but I did spot a grave of an unknown Sherwood Forester and I would like to think that perhaps this is Charles and he guided me here. As with all Commonwealth War Cemeteries, this is beautifully maintained and is a fitting memorial to all those laid to rest here. There is a visitors centre along with free parking. Take tissues as you will have tears in your eyes. Free to visit.

This is the largest British Commonwealth military cemetery in the world with 12,000 marked graves and a further 35,000 names on the memorial plaques, where the bodies of the missing could not be found. Tyne Cot is the name of the German blockhouse, painted to look like a cottage, that was part of a defensive line responsible for so many deaths. It is now the base of the Remembrance Cross. The graves are very well tended by the CWGC and there were lots of visitors including two coach trips of schoolkids. We probably spent an hour in the Visitors Centre and Cemetery and also looking at the terrain that was being fought across and it was a very sobering experience. Luckily, as we left, there was a spaniel that was the happiest dog in the world so that injected some much needed positivity into the morning.

Tyne Cot Cemetary is the largest resting place for British and Commonwealth troops who lost their lives in WW1, especially those who fought in Passchendaele, the 3rd battle of Ypres. Its name derives from the Northumberland Fusiliers who thought the many German pill boxes looked like Tyneside workman cottages and was abbreviated to Tyne cots. My visit on 17th September 2025 was particularly poignant for me as it was on the occasion of my late father's birthday who was born in 1918 and his father, my grand-père Charles Villaret, was with the French First Army that supported the British offensive in 1917 at Passchendaele - he looked after the horses and obviously survived whereas many of his comrades and horses didn't. The cemetery, like others in Belgium, is taken great care of by the War Graves Commission and it's a special place to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices made by British and AZTEC troops. However, it's alot to take in and probably requires more than one visit. It was busy when I went with a number of guided tours taking place.

A remarkable cemetery of those who sacrificed their lives. Beautifully maintained by the CWWGC. Have visited several times over the years. The calling of names of those who lost their lives on the route to the very small exhibition is quite profound. The exhibition has changed over the years but worth a look. Good parking. Toilets are 0.50€.

What a place. So peaceful, very well kept. You can't believe when looking out that it was the location of such devastation and loss.

First visit to Tyne Cot. Slightly confusing how to get in from the Visitors Centre. We did walk to this first and the display and information boards were very good. However there were no signs to say how to get into the cemetery from the Visitors Centre. The front entrance is directly opposite the car park. It’s a small gate which leads out onto the main portico of the cemetery. Note the cemetery shuts at 6pm. Once inside the sight of so many graves and names on the walls is over bearing. The enormous loss of life is so disturbing. In what was a war where life was given over for military tactic. In a place we’re not much land was taken and in some places 95 lives lost per 3 acre leaves you to question why? So much destruction in a few short years and all for land and power. The Commonwealth war graves keep the cemetery in excellent condition and the constant roll of names over the tannoy is keeping the memory of those fallen alive. Somewhere everyone should visit.

Visited from Brussels by car, very easy to reach. City centre parking was full, so I recommend parking just outside and walking in. The cathedral itself is stunning and well worth the trip. We came to Tournai just to see this UNESCO site, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended and it’s free to visit!

A stunning Cathedral, serving both as the House of God that it should be but also as a site of heritage for all to enjoy and appreciate. With numerous side chapels and information signs. It is accessible for all throughout. Symbolic of what was great about Christendom, beautiful gothic architecture, captivating art and all to the glory of God.

We came to this town just for this unesco site. The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Tournai is a stunning architectural masterpiece combining Romanesque and Gothic styles. Constructed primarily in the 12th and 13th centuries, it features five iconic bell towers, a spacious nave, and impressive stained glass windows. Inside, the treasury houses remarkable religious artifacts, adding to its historical significance.

Lovely Sunday service on July 21, followed by a celebration of Belgian Independence Day. Very friendly and welcoming to the services. Beautiful historic cathedral, highest recommendation ❤️

Most of the Quire was closed due to restoration, But we heard an amazing Organ voluntary and was given basically put own personal tour around the ground floor of the cathedral, it was amazing.

It was in the process of renovation so part of the church was open to the public. It is worth a visit because the old part of the church goes back to the 5th century.

Beautiful and underrated cathedral. Really short walk from the center square of the city, with a panoramic, bird's-eye view from the nearby Belfry. No large crowds of tourists, just emptiness and peace. The interior is also always open to enter and respectfully admire, and is quite beautiful.

Pairi Daiza is, without a doubt, my absolute favourite animal park. I visit several times a year, and every visit is pure joy. This park is truly exceptional and never stops improving and expanding. The settings and landscapes are simply breathtaking, making it a real pleasure to spend an entire day here. The park evolves with the seasons and transforms beautifully for special events such as Easter, Christmas, Carnival, Halloween, and during summer weekends, when unique evening openings until 11 PM create a magical atmosphere. Pairi Daiza is the perfect place for a family day out or a relaxing walk surrounded by nature and incredible animals. I highly recommend visiting, you won’t regret it. Moreover, the work carried out by the Pairi Daiza Foundation is meaningful and impactful, contributing greatly to animal welfare and conservation worldwide. I wholeheartedly encourage everyone to support their efforts. Pairi Daiza truly deserves its title as the most beautiful park in Europe. It is always a pleasure to spend time there, no matter the season or occasion.

The best, most beautiful and well organised zoo (despite the thousends of visitors and parking cars) I have ever visited in Europe (and I say that after Vienna, Zürich, Paris). It is not just a zoo, it is also a garden heaven, with many tematics and attractions, shows (especially at Halloween, they are open until 10 p.m.). It is very enjoyable for adults and of course for children, as well. If you have a lot of money you can also sleep here in different kinds of apartments, they are all awesome, too. The app is very helpful, you can use it like a GPS, you can also see which restaurants, kiosks are open or closed. It would be more useful, if you can see where were you already, not to skip a place. Every toilets and restaurants are also a great and different experience. I would like to come back at winter, Christmas time, as well. All the view and photos you see on the website is in real life exactly the same. Just perfect. Thank you, Piari Daiza. ❤️

Amazing wildlife parc with huge setups. Many big zones that are divided in different continents. You can cover this in a full day. We arrived at 11 am and left 7 pm. But you take your time you need more than a day to fully enjoy. Fantastic day and can’t wait to visit again

A nice, big zoo that gives off a bit of a Tomorrowland and fairytale vibe. My recommendation: come earlier, because it’s super big! Try to visit in summer, spring, or early autumn. We didn’t even see half of the animals because many were hiding or sleeping due to the weather. But overall, it’s a really good place — definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed it here. The park was huge and we didn't get time to see everything in one day; but we picked the animals we wanted to see the most. My kids loved the Monkey Bridge (5 & 8).

Absolutely magical – more than just a zoo! Pairi Daiza is hands down one of the most beautiful and unique places I’ve ever visited. It’s not just a zoo — it’s a journey around the world. Every part of the park is beautifully themed and designed, from the Asian temples to the African plains and the peaceful gardens. You feel like you're travelling the world in one day. The animals are clearly well cared for, and their enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully made to resemble their natural habitats. Seeing the pandas, elephants, tigers, and so many other species up close was just incredible. The attention to detail in every corner is impressive — you can tell the people who built this place truly love what they do. The park is very clean, well-maintained, and easy to walk through, with plenty of spots to rest, take pictures, and grab something to eat. It’s perfect for families, couples, or even a solo trip. I left Pairi Daiza with a full heart and a phone full of amazing memories. Truly one of Belgium’s hidden gems — I’ll definitely be coming back! ❤️🐼✨

An absolute must-visit! A beautiful zoo with genuine care for animal welfare. I honestly cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this park. The animals live in beautiful, spacious, and well maintained enclosures and all look healthy and well cared for. What really stood out to me is the transparency and the attention to detail. Whenever an animal has a minor issue or a visible condition, there are clear signs explaining the reason. For example, one animal was limping slightly, and the sign explained that this was due to arthritis as the animal had reached an advanced age. This is such a thoughtful initiative and shows that the animals are truly cared for. I know that some people are against zoos, but without places like Pairi Daiza, which work incredibly hard with breeding programs, care, donations, and conservation efforts. The situation for many endangered species would be far worse. This zoo makes a valuable contribution to the protection and preservation of animals, and that deserves recognition. I truly enjoyed this visit, both because of the animals and the way everything is organized. Without a doubt, this is a place I will happily return to. Highly recommended!

The medieval and well protected atmosphere was definitely worth to visit! If you reach here from the train station, it could be a little difficult by foot!

A great place to bring kids. It's about 13 euros (less if you're a resident or child) to enter, but it also includes an audio tour which was helpful and made the experience more enjoyable. Kids younger than 12 are free. The view of Ghent from the rooftop is lovely, and it is interesting to see the Mediaeval halls, torture chambers, toilets etc. the audio tour is 30-60 minutes depending on which version you choose (short vs long and comedic). A must-see if you visit Ghent!

A must-visit in Ghent - the castle not only looks amazing from the outside, but is really fascinating on the inside too. You don’t need to book beforehand if you have a free and easy day in Ghent - show up, get a ticket with a slot in an hour’s time or so, then come back for your slot (we even did the river boat tour while waiting). There is a free audio tour and I highly recommend the “humour” one - it’s really funny, entertaining, yet shared a lot of interesting history about the castle. Its an excellently designed audio tour (probably the best I’ve done), and the castle itself was fantastic too. The view from the too of the Castle overlooking Ghent is great, too!

Top tier castle. Even though it’s a remake it does a great job. The guided tours provide an easy learning opportunity throughout the castle in the place of signs. Wasn’t too busy but also not empty. Good photo opportunities over the city from the top as well.

Quite busy on the weekend but totally worth it. Your tickets are valid 10 min before the official admission time. Take an audio guide, there is a comedic version that was a nice touch, even if a bit on the nose at times. It's also great for kids, as long as you keep them off the ramparts where there's no railing.

Do yourself a favor and visit this magnificent castle of history. I have seen a lot of castles but this one triumphs all, especially due to the audio guide mixed with history and humor. A must see attraction if you are touring Belgium.

Really enjoyed our visit to the castle. It's fascinating to walk through and explore the different rooms and history. A big plus is that the audio guide is included in the ticket price. The views of Ghent from the top are absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend!

Well worth the visit. Audio tour is quite interesting, but there are two different ones - the longer one is probably better. You must pre-book, otherwise you will queue to buy tickets for a time slot several hours later and you'll have to come back for your slot. Good views over the city, some interesting historical items inside the castle to see. Gift shop is very expensive - avoid!

They’re currently renovating the one half of the outside of the building. But you can still see the other half and it is so impressive! Such beautiful architecture!

Hello everyone, I am very impressed with the city of Ghent. I would like to go back again if I have the chance and I would like all my friends to see this unique city. I can tell you that it is very beautiful.

The Ghent city hall is a massive complex, that was built over several centuries. The oldest parts date back to early 14th century while the most recent additions were made as late as in 1881. It is a mix of different architechtural styles: gothic, renaissance, baroque. A landmark of Ghent.

Wonderful location and surroundings at night. Feels like time travel into the past, with historic buildings in the area, no cars due to the pedestrian zone, and only a few tourists around. I couldn’t imagine Gent being so beautiful, but the City Hall is definitely one of the landmarks.

Ghent City beautiful place in Belgium... With stunning architecture.. It's a great a stop off if your travelling from the UK to other parts of Europe... The people are lovey and friendly with lots to do.

Everyone talks about Brugge but let me tell you Ghent we fell in love with. Same feel and look but less popular and I found to be more beautiful. Definitely stop here it is so so beautiful and romantic and a place where they captured a time way before we were here. Castles and waffles heaven. You won't be disappointed.

Ghent is located 30 minutes from Brussel. Small city but with beautiful architecture. We visited City Hall, Several Churches and the Graffiti street.

Enjoyed this experience. Have been here many years ago, so it was very different. For something different, we tried the AR for of the Mystic Lamb and actually really enjoyed it. Glad that it was on display as it was recently restored. The cathedral is beautiful in its own right even if you don't want to do the tour.

St. Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent is breathtaking! This huge, old church feels grand yet peaceful inside. The tall ceilings and colorful stained-glass windows are stunning. The highlight is the famous "Ghent Altarpiece," a beautiful painting you can’t miss. It’s amazing to see such history up close, though there’s a small fee for the altarpiece area. The cathedral is free to enter, which is great. Walking around, you feel the weight of centuries of stories. It’s not too crowded, so you can enjoy it calmly. The mix of art, history, and quiet vibes makes it special. A must-visit in Ghent for sure!

our tour guide promoted the Van Eck altarpiece as the premier attraction of Ghent, so we wandered over and ponied up the €16 each for the artificial reality headset for 60 minutes rather than just the Lamb of God 25 minutes for €12.50. Felt worth while - it does indeed have fantastic detail, so yeah

Beautiful cathedral full of history and art! Right in the heart of downtown, totally worthy, beautiful pieces and good lighting. Shame that is treated more like a museum than an actual church, due to the lack of Catholics attending services.

St. Bavo’s Cathedral in Ghent is breathtaking! The Gothic architecture and stunning altar by van Eyck left me in awe. A must-visit for history and art lovers. Peaceful and inspiring!

This is a must see place! Don't miss to do the VR tour in the basilisk. You will learn a lot and it's well invested time and money. The altar is an absolute cultural, historic and artistic highlight.

I would’ve loved to know a little more about the history of this boy! But unfortunately not much is known, even the theories are a far few… nevertheless a spot for every tourist visiting for pictures. I do see a lot of guides explaining about the statue and was curious to find out more… it’s close to the grand place and can definitely be included in the city walk.

It is undoubtebly a statue that you want to see when in Brussels because it's gotten so popular for some reason. I really like the idea of this little boy being a national symbol and getting dressed up in different outfits depending on current events. It somehow manages to be both impressive and underwhelming at the same time.

Manneken Pis is the famous statue in Brussels, depicting a young boy urinating. The statue in place right now was put there in 1965 and is surrounded by cameras and fencing due to previous theft and vandalism. I was surprised by the size of the statue when actually seeing it in person — it was tiny and a little underwhelming, and it would be so easy to just walk past it if it wasn’t for the crowds of people standing around. The statue is pretty humorous though, and is only a short walk away from Grand Place, so it’s worth checking out while in Brussels for sure, especially if you can catch it in one of the fun costumes. Unfortunately, during my trip, it was without this.

The statue itself is quite small and, apart from its fame, may not be particularly captivating. However, the surrounding streets and area are delightful, featuring charming sweet and waffle shops. If you happen to visit at the right moment, you might even observe a local group dressing the statue.

Manneken Pis represents the Brussels spirit: humor, irreverence, independence, and not taking life too seriously. Locals see it as a quirky emblem of their city. There are many legends—one says the boy extinguished a burning fuse with his urine and saved the city. These stories make it a key part of local folklore. Along with Grand Place, it’s one of the most visited attractions in Brussels. It represents Belgian comic-style humor and is featured in souvenirs, festivals, and cultural events.

A must when near Grand Place. It's easy to miss and it's not that big. Walked by earlier in the day and completely missed it. These pics are at dusk/night so accessible outside of the crowds.

For a tiny little guy, it was fun to see. My grandson and I enjoyed the walk and hunt to find him. So many people from different parts of the world were together and enjoying the experience.

Sooo Beautiful... that words cant express! Visited on Saturday and night time with lights on was a magical experience. All shops and restaurants were open and there was music playing. Such a lively place that was. In the morning you can see the details of building and it had its own beauty. I would recommend visiting the place both in daytime and night time.

There are a couple good food options as well in the Grand Place, and all the streets branching off from it have more food options, chocolate shops, souvenirs, etc. When we went one evening the lights were flickering which was kind of fun to watch. Sometimes in the Place you’ll find some street performers and other excitement going on. It is a good central spot to orient yourself when exploring the city.

The first word that comes immediately to mind this wow! We are fortunate to stage of steps from this site. You stand in the middle and are just in awe by the beautiful architecture and the gilding of the guild buildings. It’s the center of town for a reason. Yes, it’s the seat of government, but it’s also one of the most picturesque city centers imaginable.

WOW! The Grand Place is exactly as it's name sake. And so opulent with gold ✨️ embellishments on the buildings. The perfect gathering place for food & entertainment. I just love 💛 the architecture and the stature of these buildings.... and so will you. Plenty of places to eat, drink and meet people. This is what The Grand Place is all about. We especially loved the BEST Waffles at Waffelin! SOOO delicious 😋

Walking through Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert felt like stepping into a timeless world where elegance and history meet. Despite the bustling crowd around me, I felt a quiet sense of wonder, pausing to admire the intricate details of the architecture and the charm of the shops lining the gallery. It was one of those moments where time seems to slow down — a moment to reflect, to feel gratitude for small joys, and to simply be present amidst the beauty of the surroundings. Standing there, I realized that places like this are more than just landmarks; they are spaces that quietly hold memories, stories, and a sense of connection to the world around us.

An architectural beauty. Absolutely adored walking through here. It's so elegant and pleasant on the eyes. When the lights changed it just added to the beauty. You feel like you've stepped back in time to when there was enough money to even create beautiful door handles. It's just a lovely place to visit.

Best place to get a flavor of Brussels in no time ! With several high end confectionery shops and cafes it’s a delight for visitor. The lace bags gats and other accessories shops there are also very exclusive . Must visit place when in Brussels. It was a very nice shopping center. The shops inside looked as beautiful as the building was from outside. You'll find different types of shops not only for chocolate and waffles but also leather goods and clothes.

Great place to explore if you’re looking for all the famous chocolate brands in Brussels! The Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert is full of beautiful chocolate shops, and it’s really convenient to have everything in one place. Prices are on the higher side, but that’s pretty much the same everywhere else—so you might as well come here where you can compare, browse, and enjoy the atmosphere. A lovely spot to stroll, shop, and indulge!

As the holiday season approaches the decorations are going up and the Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert is one of the finest in Brussels. The shops that line the high glass ceiling passageway are also gearing up for Christmas with lights and decorations one to not miss this season.

The exterior is magnificent, from all angles even the rear which is often missed. When you walk inside you need to keep walking towards the front as there is so much more than meets the eye as you first enter. Either side of the alter there are vast vestibules with amazing stain glass windows.

A Majestic Church at city center. The architecture is nothing short of stunning. From the moment you approach the building, the grand Gothic façade takes your breath away. The intricate stonework, soaring twin towers, and beautiful stained glass windows create an awe-inspiring first impression. Once inside, the experience gets even more impressive. The high vaulted ceilings, elegant columns, and detailed sculptures throughout the interior showcase incredible craftsmanship and artistry.

Great place. Inside you can look at all wonderful architecture, donate to church and people who need it , light up the candle and pray in one of the rooms. If you will buy a ticket than you can go to basement museum. Ticket needs only for museum , you can enter the church for free to look around.

From the outside, the Cathedral looks lovely but nothing too unusual—until you step inside. It’s absolutely stunning and feels so much bigger than it looks from outside! The glass windows are gorgeous, each telling its own story, and the artwork inside is really impressive. You can take a quick look around in 10 to 20 minutes or spend much longer soaking in all the details. Definitely a must-see when in Brussels!

The history of this impressive building has so much to tell about the Weestern civilization: its kings and the church, from the "Holy" Roman Empire to the present. It took over 300 years to be built. Lots of sacred art. Take your time in there. I was very impressed with the poster talking about the 2025 Year of Jubilee and a call to reflection and repentance.

St. Michael & St. Gudula Cathedral is a majestic Gothic church. High ceilings Gothic architecture, beautiful stained glass windows. It’s beautifully maintained. This is an important place to visit & very Popular historical tourist destination in Brussels.

A grandiose cathedral with incredible artwork and architecture. Located just right in the middle of Brussels and in front of a small park. An easy one to access and spend your time while you’re in the city.

It's a sculptural genius, we had been there just to view it in the evening and walked around in the park nearby. The ambiance is calm and cosy, definitely recommended to visit with friends and family.

Even just approaching the structure is impressive: the massive, reflective spheres rising above the surrounding park have a surreal, almost sci-fi presence that immediately captures your attention. The real highlight, though, is the view from the top sphere. On a clear, sunny day, the outlook over Brussels is genuinely stunning. The city stretches out in every direction, and the sunlight reflecting off the metal surfaces adds a bright, almost cheerful atmosphere to the entire experience. It’s definitely the kind of place where the weather can make a big difference, so visiting on a day with good visibility is ideal. That said, the Atomium becomes truly magical at sunset. As the sky shifts from gold to deep blue, the structure’s lights begin to glow, giving the entire monument a soft, dreamlike quality. Watching the city transition into evening from up high is a moment that feels both peaceful and memorable. Whether you're a photographer, a casual tourist, or someone who simply enjoys a beautiful view, sunset at the Atomium is something special. Overall, the Atomium is a unique blend of history, design, and atmosphere—well worth the trip if you haven’t been before.

Spectacular structure. They take you to the top level by elevator where you have a panoramic view of the city. Then you work your way down each atom. In one of the atom, they have light and sound show which is very cool. Finally you come back to the lobby level and gift shop. Overall it was a great experience and highly recommend it when in Brussels. It’s conveniently located close to a train station so you can reach it from any location in the city.

Visiting the Atomium in Brussels was one of those iconic “we have to do it” moments and I’m glad we did! We went on a Sunday without pre-booked tickets, and thankfully it wasn’t an issue. We waited about 15 minutes to purchase tickets and begin the experience. Just a heads-up: the visit is split into two parts, and you’ll receive two separate tickets per person. The first part of the tour takes you up a series of escalators and stairs through the spheres, where you can learn about the history and construction of the Atomium. Most of the informational signs were in French, so we moved through this part fairly quickly, admiring the architecture more than the displays. At the end, you’re guided through the gift shop and outside — which felt a bit confusing, because you then need to rejoin the crowds to continue on to Part 2. The second part involves queuing again inside the building — about 20 minutes for us — before taking the futuristic elevator to the top sphere. The view from above is definitely the highlight, especially if you love snapping photos and videos. There’s also a restaurant at the top, and free restrooms (a lifesaver after all that waiting and cold weather!), but we didn’t have the chance to dine there since we were catching a flight later that day. Once you’re done enjoying the panorama, there’s one more line for the elevator back down — so yes, a bit of a queue-athon overall. 😅 In the end, it was a good experience and I’m happy we visited — the Atomium is unique, quirky, and a standout piece of Brussels history. That said, the flow of the tours could definitely be improved to reduce all the waiting. If you’re planning to visit, be prepared for lines and maybe book ahead if you can, but the views certainly make the effort worthwhile!

This is a very fun and interactive activity for travelers of all ages. There are concurrent and subsequent additional places like other museums that you can attend while here to include “LITTLE EUROPE AS PICTURED”. This place is perfect for gathering souvenirs as well as picture taking which is professionally available and opted to you at the ending of the activity. We did not get to frequent the restaurant at the top due to them only having one section of the restaurant open at the time; however, other reviewers have stated the food is not good.

Getting a ticket online is recommended, as the venue can get quite busy. The presentation collection is impressive, but the view is hidden by coloured glass. However, the breathtaking and impressive stairs with the light show are worth the wait.

Beautiful tourist destination is Brussels, Belgium. There was a steady line of tourists enjoying the beauty of this modernist building. It is an important landmark in Brussels. It was originally constructed as the center piece of the 1958 Brussels Expo. Now it is a museum and an art center. When one stands under it one is likely to marvel at the huge symmetrical structure. The huge globes are interconnected symmetrically giving the building the shape of an atomic structure. Atomium is built in a very beautiful location, surrounded by fine gardens and a nice row of trees.

Mechelen is often considered as the capital for Carillon, and St Rumbold's cathedral has two of them. Very beautiful cathedral and the skywalk at the top gives great view. As resident of Mechelen, you can get discount.

A wonderful and inspiring cathedral in a lovely city, not far from Antwerp. There is parking underneath and tge train station is a walkable distance. The acoustic is great, try to visit for a service or concert. There is a tower to climb too with breathtaking views of the city.

An impressive cathedral with a bell tower you can go up -do get tickets in advance as it’s a time allocation only. Wonderful stained glass windows lining the cathedral walls. The bells in the tower are impressive and huge it’s good to go up on the hour to hear them chime.

What a beautiful cathedral! Loved the baroque arches (similar to many others in other parts of belgium) and the amazing architecture and artistry that is exhibited in the edifice. The grandness and luxury of these cathedrals are totally astonishing. It is free to enter, but 8€ if u wish to climb the tower itself to the lookout. The climb is only available in the afternoons i believe.

Especially beautiful, definitely worth seeing. I will definitely come back and recommend other people to visit. Regarding the price, very reasonably, for people up to 27 years old the price was 3 euros. There is also an underground parking lot nearby, the price is affordable.

There are two version of the ticket. Museum has a ticket. However, to go on the top floor, there is no ticket, It’s free and worth the view of the city. It’s little walk to the museum from city center/train station. But walk is enjoyable to the museum from the city center as you go through the historical places and shopping district.

An outstanding building not to be missed when visiting Antwerp! Although we could not visit the museum as we arrived too late, we found out that we can still enter the building and go up the terrasse to see a great panorama of the city. By the generosity of the city, it was open, and we discovered the wonderful building clad in red stone and glass. Amazing piece of architecture, a block in spiral almost rising from the water. We took the escalator and we admired floor after floor the sights of the harbour and the city at sunset. Must return for visiting the museum, the permanent collection and many exhibitions!

An amazing building ten floors high with an open roof. I had tickets for all the private exhibitions which I would recommend. The curved glass exterior is a marvel in itself. The rest is built in a red brick tile on much of the ceilings and walls inside and outside. A must see.

An outstanding building for architecture and for views over Antwerp. Each floor of this museum presents either temporary exhibitions, a selection from the permanent collection or other services as the building is a hub for visitors coming for a meal or to enjoy the viewing platform. I spent time in two temporary exhibitions and was so impressed with the curation. I learnt so much! The entire site around the museum is also fantastic - the water, the cafes and the gift shop. The entire site is a work of art. Catch the tram from town. This destination is a must in Antwerp.

I was ready to skip this stop in Antwerp, but glad we didn't. Impressive building with very interesting collections. I wasn't very sure what the overarching theme was, but it appears to just be 'Antwerp' through several themes/lenses. Fairly inexpensive as far as museums go! Backpacks are apparently not allowed? Although they didn't bother to tell me until I got escorted out of the 3rd gallery we entered!

Absolutely the best. I got such a nice room with a great view to the station. Spacious and superclean room. Friendly and very helpful front desk staff. Excellent breakfast. Only complain I might have would be the smokers on the front entrance due to close proximity of the bus stop.

Very good hotel right opposite the Antwerp train station. I’ve given it 5* for location as I wanted to be close to the station. It is about a 15 minute walking into the ‘old town’ Rooms very comfortable and modern. Staff were incredibly helpful and kind Decent included breakfast.

Hampton by Hilton Antwerp is in a very convenient location—just steps away from Central Station. The hotel is quite good and up to standard. The in-room amenities are complete, the place is clean, and the service is great. Jesse, the front desk staff we met on the first day, was cheerful and provided us with a lot of helpful information. Breakfast was decent.

We had a fabulous stay at the Hampton Hotel Antwerp. The location is right across ghe road from the train station which makes exploration of Belgium so convenient. The staff was super friendly and attentive to all our needs. Sorry that I do not know all their names but Lesley stands out as a great example of great service and for caring about his guests. Highly recommended

Great Diamond member recognition. Nice staff, specious room and happy atmosphere. The best part of the hotel is the unbeatable location. Near to the central station, restaurants, supermarkets and zoo. Perfect for family with kids.

Not a great hotel for families. Rooms very dated. Carpets in the rooms and nasty stains all over them, feels very dirty. Bed like a block of wood and pillows with filling all knotted and bunched in places. No sound proofing at all so can hear people in the hallways, and very busy train station right outside so very loud. Parking very far, so if coming with a car avoid this hotel at all costs, if not for the reasons above anyway. Arrived at 11pm with 2 very tired children, 2 and 4 years old. No parking at all outside, risked parking in the road for a few minutes while unloading the bags. Asked wife to go and check in so I could park the car. Parking is 15/20 minutes away including walk back to hotel. Asked my wife to check in and go to the room. Her purse and phone was in the car in the hurry. When I got to the hotel they were still at reception and was told receptionist wouldn’t give the key because the tourist tax had to be paid. I asked the receptionist why couldn’t you give my wife and kids the room key as I was coming back and it’s 11pm for a 2 and 4 year old who were very restless and making it difficult for wife to look after. Fee was only €5 and all she said is I can’t give it, there’s cameras all over watching me. It’s such a stupid excuse, and doesn’t care about customers at all and their struggles. Wife was struggling for 20 minutes with 2 children who were rolling around the floor while she just watched on. They could have been in bed, and all for €5 which we were obviously going to pay anyway, along with the parking costs at the reception. Had to come back to pay that after anyway for a parking garage which was a while away. I then asked if the request we made for a cot in the room was seen and if there was a cot. She said I can see your request so there will be a cot in the room, and if there isn’t just let us know. She didn’t care at all. Surprise surprise no cot in the room, so waited another 20 minutes with the kids for the cot to be bought up. Wished we never booked this hotel, staff with no empathy or care for customers. Avoid at all costs.

I stayed at the Hampton by Hilton Antwerp Central Station for six nights to participate in a technical meeting that was held nearby at A Room with a ZOO. The hotel was an excellent value, well-located, and offered traveler-friendly services. Breakfast in the morning and the house bar at night were highlights.

We had such a great time at this zoo! At first, I thought it would be just another boring zoo, but it turned out to be a really fun experience. We loved seeing all the different animals and fish, and the park itself is very clean and well maintained. It also made for a lovely date with my husband. I’d definitely recommend this place as a date spot.

This zoo looks very nice, animals have a lot of space for a zoo in the city center. It is a great place to spend a day in nature in the city as the zoo looks like a big garden. You can see koalas!

Visited during the Ocean themed light festival. Great experience for my 2 years old and honestly for us parents too. Ve also enjoyed lunch at the restaurant by the flamingo.

Excellent zoo in the heart of the city. It is easily accessible since it is located right next to the Central Station. You can spend half a day walking through the animal park. There are several food stops and 2 restaurants where you can sit properly to eat a full meal. There are enough lavatories throughout the zoo in case you are visiting with children. The souvenir shop is at the entrace and is also where you can purchase your tickets.

We had a great day here! We went in the day time to see the animals, though a load was under construction unfortunately. We also went at night to the magic ocean event, which was amazing!! Pricey, but very very well done. Enjoy the many photos I took! :)

Beautifully maintained zoo with happy animals who are the closest ive ever seen of any zoo in the world. Kids and adults will equally enjoy this place and it should not take more than 2-3 hrs to fully complete. It's right next to the must see train station and across the chocolate nation museum. Together it's a full day of fun!

Beautiful zoo within the city centre of Antwerpen. Few of the zoo buildings have beautiful historic architecture which makes the zoo unique. Lots of healthy and well taken care of animals. They have the typical big four of a safari. They have different theme on each location and a well thought out sequence of path to follow. The butterfly sanctuary is one the most beautiful I've seen and within a historic building. Touring the zoo will take at 2 to 4 hours. Check for the zoo schedule beforehand such as the lion feeding and scuba diving show in the aquarium. Perfect place to bring your family.

We’ve been living in this residence for a few years now. I must say, if you’re visiting Leuven, you absolutely shouldn’t miss Groot Begijnhof. Its historical architecture is truly mesmerizing. Every street reveals different houses and glimpses of past lives. Recently, some infrastructure work has been taking place in part of the area, so if you’re planning to visit during the summer of 2025, be aware that some entrances are closed and walking around the church might be a bit difficult.

Incredible walking experience there. There was some renovation done in some part of area but in general it’s a very enjoyable experience with exploring the small aisle and looking at the old buildings. I was there during weekday so it was pretty quiet.

I strolled through the Groot Begijnhof in Leuven and instantly felt its centuries-old charm. As I entered through the main gate, those traditional sandstone buildings and winding cobblestone lanes made me feel like I had stepped back in time. Each house, some with striking crow-stepped gables and tiny old windows, reveals layers of history and story. The peaceful courtyards and scenic river views added to the atmosphere. This restored “town-within-a-town” is a unique place and quiet yet full of character, offering an authentic glimpse into Leuven’s past and the life once led by its beguines.

The Groot Begijnhof in Leuven is a beautifully preserved 13th-century beguinage and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Once home to religious women called beguines, it features cobbled streets, red-brick houses, gardens, and stone bridges over the River Dijle. Restored in the 1960s, it now belongs to KU Leuven and serves as housing for students and professors. It’s a peaceful quarter perfect for a quiet walk through history.

This building is certainly one that has impressed me the most while visiting Leuven. It is centre of Leuven. Leuven's Town Hall is the historic city's pièce de résistance. Moreover, it's one of the best-known Gothic town halls worldwide. It took three architects and thirty years to build it. Leuven's 'Hall of Fame' features 235 statues, which were only added to the facade after 1850.

A beautiful building in the center of Leuven with 235 statues to admire. It’s a must see if you are visiting Leuven. There are daily one hour tours in Dutch and English and on the weekend in French. In these tours you visit the interior of the building while learning about the history. The cost is 4 euros and you can buy tickets in the tourist office around the corner. Starting in September 2024, this building will be closed for renovation until 2029. So if you want to take a tour, I would recommend doing it now!

Magnificent and Magical - this is the most iconic spots in Leuven. Don’t forget to book a guided tour if you want to visit the interiors. The inside of the town hall is well preserved with wooden ceilings and chandeliers transporting us to that era. Very beautiful!!!

Such a beautiful city hall, happening square. Especially great in winter with Christmas lights. Preferable to go at-least once and to keep in your bucket list.

Spectacular building with a Flemish Gothic façade, although the remains of Leuven's first town hall, built in 1439 and located on the main square, are no longer preserved. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times in the last hundred years, the last time after the Second World War. On the outside we can see 236 statues, all of them of important figures in the history of the city, arranged by floors: on the ground floor we find academics and artists, on the ground floor religious figures, on the first floor members of the nobility and finally, at the top of the towers, scenes from the Bible are represented.

Such a unique experience in Breda! To get in there, we needed to wait until 2pm on Sunday. It was not so crowded, yet it is a definitely must see in Breda. You can learn the history of the town from the information provided on the walls.

Absolutely stunning place! I’ve traveled a lot throughout the world and this is truly one of the most beautiful cathedrals I’ve seen. It’s very well kept and taken care of and there’s enough light to see every small detail. The organ is gorgeous and as a musician myself, I’d be very curious to hear it played. We visited in the afternoon of Dec 31 and it was still welcoming people.

The Church is charming. The current exhibition is really interesting, inspiring and diverse (for a merely symbolic price). The guidebook is very well written: even if it is only in dutch it can be easily translated with Lens. I am thankful to the ladies and gentlemen of the staff at the entrance for the suggestion and giving it to me anyway. Congratulations.

For a city like Breda, it’s a very impressive structure. The entrance to the church (which is obviously free) is from the side and immediately you feel the need of looking up. Tall, impressive, strong and powerful. Unfortunately we couldn’t see the pipe-organ as it was under restoration, but we could talk a small glimpse from the side and we noticed the incredible colors. If you come to Breda you have to see it!

The interior of this church is quite disappointing. There is no real place to pray, no proper seating like you would expect in other churches, and it always feels like it’s half-finished, with constant work going on. Looking at reviews from years ago, it seems nothing has really changed. Inside, it doesn’t feel like a functioning church but more like a museum, with tombs, sculptures, and works of art on display, as well as temporary exhibitions. Unless you pay for the museum and take a guided tour, much of it has little explanation and feels like a random mix of things. More than a place for reflection, meditation, or prayer, it’s a cultural site that honestly isn’t very interesting inside. Quite unfortunate. The exterior, on the other hand, is majestic and truly beautiful. But overall, it’s not worth going inside.

Interesting church with beautiful stained glass windows. For 4 euros per adult (children free), you can climb the tower and look at Dordrecht from above. The climb is not easy and the stairs are narrow, but the views from there are wonderful.

This large church, in Gothic style, is officially the Church of Our Lady. It has a tower with a clock mechanism and there are currently 67 bells. They can be rung both by hand and electronically, and one of them is the heaviest in the Netherlands, weighing 10 tons. The entrance price is 4,00€ and it’s the largest church in the city.

We arrived almost at closing time. But the curator happy showed us around when she learned we came all the way from Singapore! The Synod of Dort (Dordrecht) had its opening session here! The diorama with explanation was a treat, though a litte biased in favour of the Remonstrants.

A nice surprise discovery to uncover this little jewel, the ceiling structure, the woodbench engraving, the modern vitrail... All sum up to an unexpected and excellent experience!

The entrance price, including audio-guide and raising to the tower is 4 💶. From the top of the tower you can enjoy an amazing view, find Rotterdam as well. The service women are very friendly. Amazing! 🤩 😍

The medieval Grote Kerk of Dordrecht, or Dordrecht Minster, is a building which is rich in history. Its origins lie in the 11th century. Always enjoy visiting here. I recommend to take the boat safari to the top of the park, see the birds of prey show (this is a must in my opinion) and then make your way back down the park. 1 star removed because of the restaurant. 1 person cooking per station during peak season really isn’t a good choice. The workers were incredibly stressed and the customers weren’t making their life easier by complaining. Otherwise the food was good.

Absolutely amazing place!! There’s so much stuff to do for kids, we were out from morning till 10pm at night. All of the staff was soo lovely and helpful and kind! Made us feel so welcome everywhere we went. Magical place full of activities, can’t believe I only just found this place! There’s safari park, beach with play park indoors and outdoors, swimming pools with slides, disco and shows for kids, you can hire bikes, kayaks, paddle boards or just chill in a super nice pub/restaurant while kids run around, it’s all secure and safe.

A perfect place to spend time with family or friends. This time we chose the walking option. We saw all the animals whose signs we passed. Although they have a lot of space, you can still see them in smaller or bigger groep. There are many places along the way where you can stop and sit for a moment. Honestly, I even felt a little sorry for those who chose the car safari when I saw the line of cars. It was a great time, and I think it won't be our last visit to this place.

Had so much fun here. There are many different kinds of animals from all over the world. The only think i did not like was the big birds in cages which should not be allowed. Otherwise it was most certainly worth the trip.

Wow. Words can't describe how amazing this place. Huge safari like in Africa, especially the rooms with animals view - amazing! Please note that the heating system not working 100% as expected, I was cold a little bit, especially in the bathroom and they doesn't have bathrobes. The breakfast is great! A plenty of things to do in the safari!

An unforgettable day at Beekse Bergen Safari Park! The safari experience is incredible seeing lions, giraffes, camels, and rhinos up close feels like being in Africa. The park is spacious, well organized and offers different ways to explore, from car to boat and bus. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is perfect for families or anyone who loves wildlife. A unique experience in the Netherlands that I highly recommend!!!!

Super Park. Sehr empfehlenswert. Nice Parc, very Clean and friendly Personal. Thr price is absolutly correct. It's all inclusive. Lunchtime ist good. Tickets online ist the best way, Its cheaper.

I remember this being one of the happiest day of my life so far. Where my inner child was allowed to experience joy and excitement with no limitations. There are various different rides ranging from easy-going to adventure seeking, so different strokes for different folks. It's very family friendly and easily accessible to all. On the day we went, there were a lot of kids, babies, toddlers and disabled persons. It accommodates all family sizes. I went with my partner and we noticed that there were some rides that were only for single riders, so you can definitely experience this solo. In addition to the rides, it's magical to walk around and take in the atmosphere and Fairytale details of the park. I really appreciated the fact we didn't stand too long in the lines for food and the rides. Also a big shout out to the staff who are simply the best (to quote Tina Turner). Thank you Efteling!

It is ok for families with kids between 5 and 10. Probably also for people between 20 and 25 who are seeking gor a bit of adrenaline. Food prices are ok All in all, if you live at maximum 250 km is a good place to spend a nice day.

Probably the best theme park i've ever been to. The attractions are really immersive and they have something for all ages. They also have some really fun shows happening all over the park. On top of that, i thought all the food we had was very tasty and reasonably priced. Since we went on a weekday at the end of September, the wait times were never more than 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend using their app which has an interactive map of the park where you can view the live waiting indicators and show times.

Even on a Wednesday, there were still lots of people! The popular rides had a 20–30 minute wait. Some of the facilities looked a bit old and even a little creepy, but the merry-go-round was very special and really cool.

Efteling is a stunning themepark full of magic and spectacle! It’s perfect for bringing children or honestly any family member- I’m not joking your grandma would love this! Every attraction is themed, detailed and a cared for. Nothing is without consideration, the green spaces, the story telling - even the bins are a delight (iykyk). Every staff member you encounter will be lovely- every ride operation will be fast but efficient. One day is simply not enough to see and experience everything as there is so much to do but one day at Efteling will fill your heart for a year if you have to travel as far as I did for the experience!

A bit crowded and long queues compared to other parks, but it is worth it. Many people prefer new rollercoasters, which are nice of course, but in my opinion joris and the draak is still one of the best: longer ride and many turns, plus the waiting line moves faster.

An incredible day out. Beautifully designed and perfect for kids We spent a full day at Efteling (10am–7:30pm) with our two young children and honestly, it was amazing. The park is huge and much bigger than Disney in terms of space, but it never felt overwhelming. There are so many rides, attractions, and beautifully landscaped areas to explore. Despite it being August and around 25°C, we barely queued the longest we waited was 30 minutes for the train (we'd just missed it), but everything else was under 10 minutes, including the pedal trains, a few dark rides, and Carnaval Festival. What really sets Efteling apart is the atmosphere: peaceful, whimsical, and full of little pockets where you can sit, eat, or just wander in the shade. It felt like a fairytale world that hadn’t been turned into a shopping centre. One big downside though – no water fountains anywhere. Coming from the UK where free tap water is a given, this was a bit of a shock. The day before in Belgium we were told off for asking to fill our bottles at a soft play, so luckily we had our Yeti flasks with us at Efteling – they just about lasted the day. Would 100% go back – totally magical and very thoughtfully put together. Oh and the pancake restaurant is so charming. And the fountain show is a brilliant way to end the day!

Very nice service from the people working at the little office today (19 July). We had some discount cards from vrindenloterij and the guy was so nice to check if they work with them ( they didn’t) but still he made an extra effort to check that for us, we made a reservation for a later moment and when we came back there was a lady who explained everything nice and she was really friendly ☺️ thank you

This pedal boat experience was a mistake for us. There was nothing enjoyable, easy or entertaining about it. My 10-year old child and I rented a Stromma Utrecht paddle boat today and regretted it immediately. Why? It was just way too much work for two people on vacation. We had not been prepared for the *huge amount of physical exertion* required to move and steer these boats. We made it through 1/3 of the route, and then decided to turn back, as we were already sweaty, stressed and physically wasted from pedaling and steering of the boat. It was a very hot day. I do not recommend this experience to anyone, really, but if you must give it a try, you should consider yourself Strong, Energized, and on the Tall side. This is necessary because the seats on the boats do not adjust, and short-legged people will be challenged to reach the pedals and get traction. Steering the boats is also arduous and requires arm strength. Combined with the hard pedaling, it made for an unpleasant experience in a beautiful place. And lastly, the route map that is on the boat was unhelpful, as it was faded and impossible to read. It would be wonderful if the company revised and replaced them. The employee who helped us today was both nice and professional, and did her best to provide service. Still, she cannot control the quality of the boats or of the experience you will have, once you are out on your own. In summary, I discourage you from spending money on this pedal boat tour. The rental kayaks we saw (different company) looked like a much better time.

Probably the most beautiful activity you can do when visiting Utrecht. Check their opening hours before you go. They are open April, May, June, September and October from Wednesday until Sunday 10h00-18h00. Daily in July and August. Closed November, December, January and February. This way you are never disappointed...

Went to Utrecht for a day out of Amsterdam. As a group of four we almost skipped this canal tour booth until one of us pointed it out. We each had to then pay an admission fee, but once that was done we were to hop onto a four man pedal boat and explore the canals of this Dutch city. We were completely blown away with the views and overall friendly atmosphere of the city. The ride takes about 90 minutes but you get to see so much at your own pace and have a fun time doing it.

Sadly we can't have a pedalo since we are 2 adults and three kids, despite the fact that our small one would have had more than enough space to sit in the middle....

It’s a well organized tour. The steps could be a bit slippery. The last steps are a bit challenging as there are many to climb in a single go. They also get very narrow at the end. The views, to be frank, are nothing to brag about- so don’t go just for the view and since the barricades are metallic and not of glass or clear plastic, you cannot get good pictures. Anyway it was exhilarating because of the cool breeze at the top.

Definitely worth the effort climbing up to the top of the tower. Guide is in both Dutch and English. Almost 500 steps single trip and the staircase is getting narrower and narrower as moving towards the top. Be prepared for shaky legs after coming down ...

Had a great tour here. We bought tickets in advance and everything was very smooth. There are a lot of stairs and many spiral which does get a bit warm, but is a cool experience and learned some interesting history. Great views and very good tour guides who are able to provide the tour and answer questions in Dutch and English.

This is one of the recommended activities to do in Utrecht. It is exhilarating when you get to the top but you need to climb 463 steps with 4 stops to get there. The last stretch was most difficult because it was 150 steps at once and towards the top it got much narrower so for the claustrophobic folks, take note. Otherwise its a nice feeling to get to the top and get some photos though the barb wire can pose a challenge to getting wonderful photos.

Utrecht is a small, charming and very vibrant city. I just stayed one day but had an amazing experience and will definitely go again. Utrecht has so many things to offer from historical buildings and museums to good shopping and great diversity of food places.

This is a place you should visit in Utrecht provided you can take the significant climb up the stairs. The view is certainty worth it. You have to book a tour, which does add to the experience and our guide was friendly and informative. The tour was presented in Dutch and English. The start point is in a shop nearby so make sure you read the information carefully.

Must see if you visit Utrecht, the view from the tower is absolutely gorgeous and the story behind the tower is nice to hear. You can also do some exercising while enjoying the views. 🤓 Book a ticket in advance.

Very nice museum, for both railway passionate and casual visitors. Very good for kids and families as well, however not very accessible for wheelchairs and strollers (for babies, consider a carrier). We loved everything about it, but would have appreciated some English descriptions, that were unfortunately missing. Will go back!

Such a cool place to visit with children of any age and even without. 🤓 Outside there’s a playground and you can also grab something to eat&drink. You can spend a full day here and not get bored.

Fantastic museum, and I’m an adult and not even a train fanatic. I can imagine bringing your kids here, they will have a blast. Very big museum in an old, fully restored to its old 1872 glory train station and yard, with many historic trains and carriages on tracks. Also various halls with train related themes, like model trains, engineering, virtual reality train ride, etc. For kids also a big playground outside. Cafe restaurant on its premise.

My new favourite place. It's unfair to compare railway museums but this is the best one I have found so far. Gives the complete history of the railways in the Netherlands. Examples of old and new rolling stock. RECOMMEND ARRIVING BY RAIL - take a train to Utrecht Maliebaan station to avoid the expensive car parks (both on site and on street).

It's a great museum, interesting for adults and children alike, where everyone can have a lot of fun. There are many train carriages in perfect condition, and at Christmas they set up an ice rink. Highly recommended.

This museum is a veritable wonderland of railway history filled with old steam (and newish) diesel and electric locomotives, carriages, wagons, model trains, memorabilia, posters, etc that is worthy of at least a half day visit. And you don't have to be a passionate railway buff (like me) to enjoy the exhibits as families can entertain their children with lots of interactive gizmos and quizzes that are educational too! I simply cannot imagine anyone not enjoying this place and falling in love with trains! As well there are a cafe and museum shop and many external railway exhibits where, on a sunny day, the charming old signal box and water tower are a fitting backdrop to the locomotives.

Most fun family museum I've been. Beautiful spacious with lots of sighteeings and a very cool train simulator. Perfect for kids of all ages and cool for adults as well. Has an outside playground and place to sit indoor and outdoor with coffee and food
