Fokarium Stacji Morskiej im. Prof. Krzysztofa Skóry

Nature & Parks
Museum
Fokarium Stacji Morskiej im. Prof. Krzysztofa Skóry is a seal sanctuary located by the beach, offering visitors a chance to see and interact with seals up close. The entrance fee is minimal and goes towards the conservation of the seals. While lacking English information, it provides an interesting experience for those who haven't seen seals before. Visitors recommend timing their visit during feeding times to see the playful tricks of the seals.
A really nice place, but be prepared to queue, especially near the feeding time. But it is definitely worth the wait - the seals are so lovely. The feeding show is really fun and lovely to watch, as is just observing the seals: they all have their own personalities and behave differently. They have a shop which is situated some 200 meters from the entrance (and really close to the exit). This is a place you should definitely visit!
Henri ( — Google review
If there’s no line, go in without thinking twice — the idea is great and the place itself is nice. But if there’s a line (more than 30 people in front of you), I honestly wouldn’t recommend it. Spending two hours under the sun just to get in, then waiting another hour inside, only to watch a ten-minute seal feeding show, isn’t really worth it. If you find a queue, you’re better off spending those three hours on the beach instead — you won’t be missing much.
Miguel C — Google review
Cool and educational but the info during feeding is provided in Polish only. Still worth it to view the adorable seals. Make sure to attend during the feeding which is 4 times a day or so. The tickets are valid for 30 minutes after the purchase.
Milka V — Google review
Seals are adorable and perform cute tricks for a fish. It’s definitely worth seeing their little show during feeding time. When I was there, it took place in the second pool, so make sure to find a good spot! Be careful when buying tickets – they cost 20 zloty per person, and you can pay by card at the machine. After printing your tickets, make sure to print the receipt as well! Both we and the couple before us received one ticket and one receipt instead of two tickets. Only after pressing the option to print the receipt did the second ticket come out. The main reason I’m not giving five stars is the complete lack of any information in English. Everything – the show, info panels, materials – is only in Polish. As a foreigner, you have no way (besides looking online) to learn about the great conservation work they’re doing there. That said, I wish the aquarium all the best – the seals deserve excellent caretakers and respectful visitors!
Eva U — Google review
Fokarium is something you should see when you are in Hel. They help injured seals, which is really positive and their seals are very playful. We stayed there until feeding time and it was quite nice experience. I would reccomend allowing buying tickets online in advance. This time it rained, so there was not many people waiting, we waited outside just few minutes. But there is another line inside to visit small museum (unfortunately only Polish description). We waited there another 15 minutes to get inside. It was worthy, you could sed seals swimming under the water.
Tomáš J — Google review
Its necessary to be in row in first 100 people, otherwise there will be no place to clear watch the show. Best places are on the bridge, but it fast full. Overall place is small for such big group of people.
Radek D — Google review
Beautiful seals! Lovely complex, worth the visit. Will never forget!

Historical landmark
The Hel lighthouse, located in Hel, Poland, is a time-tested working lighthouse that opens to the public during the summer months. Surrounded by historic keeper houses and set amidst a serene environment with plenty of trees, it offers visitors a stunning view. While not the most original on the outside, its interior boasts beautiful architecture including a photogenic spiral staircase. The area around the lighthouse provides opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities such as kite surfing.
One of the mains sights to visit while in Hel. A standard adult ticket is 12 pln. You take about 200 steps up and enjoy a very nice view both on the baltic sea and zatoka Pucka as well. Very beautiful! Highly recommend! *Be ready that last 10 steps are very steep. But I saw an elderly man on a crutch climbing up there on his own and getting down as well. Great respect! If he managed to do it, you'll be able too.

Good views if you can climb up all the steps. We went out of season so it was just me at the top.

Great climb and fab views from the top of the lighthouse. Well worth a visit! (And we also saw wild boar in the forest close by - bonus).
Clare M — Google review
Couldn't climb top as there was some limit of entry and we were told to wait for some time around 1.30 PM. I went back side of the lighthouse meantime and explored the forest bush, it was good. Entry road to the lighhouse itself was good with lot of trees around and calm environment.

Plaża Sopot is a stunning beach nestled in the charming resort town of Sopot, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors alike. With its soft sands stretching along the coastline, this beach offers a delightful escape during the summer months when it can get quite lively. While swimming is enjoyable due to relatively warm waters, be mindful of certain areas that may have algae. Although there are no shower facilities available, you can find spots to change clothes.
The Baltic Sea in Sopot is both haunting and mesmerizing — its deep, dark waters draw you in with a quiet, mysterious beauty. There’s something truly captivating about its calm power and endless horizon. 🌊
Hira A — Google review
We came to explore the famous beach of Sobota. The beach was nice, yet in our opinion nothing special, maybe even a little disappointing. The sandy area of the beach is in most parts quite narrow (but kilometers long), the dunes were small, the sand was fine-grained, the water seemed clean, the beach was not littered. There were a lot of people, but there were few services, such as toilets, other than near the pier. There are few parking spaces, mostly on the side of the street. We think it is worth visiting the beach, but perhaps on a less populated part.
Heikki K — Google review
Great beach, I had a nice visit to Sopot and loved the beach! Perfect place to relax and go for a swim, would definitely visit again.
E D — Google review
Beautiful elegant sea resort, a lot of restaurants to choose from. Some right on the beach also rent umbrellas and lounge chairs. The pier is open to the public but you need to pay a ticket (10 NPL) to access it. Nice views from there.
Barbara B — Google review
It is nice for hiking. You can meet seals or one at least
Amarok S — Google review
Quite crowded beach during summers especially during holidays. We can bath during summers as it wouldn't be very cold, just that we may need to find appropriate place to bath as some areas are filled with lot of algae which smells badly. Unfortunately there wasn't any facility for taking shower, only we could change clothes. Waves are quite strong here.
Karthik — Google review
One of the best places to be in during summer 🌊💙

Nice sandy beachfront facing the baltic sea, cruises available there some are pirate ships. Numerous surfing boats spotted. Lots of big size seagulls making alot of noise. Great way to admire the baltic sea while enjoying a gelato. Occasional light drizzling rain, advisable to bring light jacket in September

The most famous and longest wooden Pier in Europe! The pier in Sopot offers the opportunity to a beautiful fairly long walk in the North Sea. Located in North Poland, in a beautiful small city, Sopot. I enjoyed a long walk there and luckily weather was just beautiful, August 2025. By: Rafi

The Sopot Pier is a very nice place to visit and take a walk, especially with family. The views of the sea are beautiful, and the atmosphere is great for a relaxing stroll. Depending on the day and time, it can get quite busy, but even then it’s still worth visiting. A lovely spot to enjoy the seaside!

The European Solidarity Centre, located in the famous Gdansk Shipyards, is a museum and library that pays homage to the modern Polish history and the influential trade union movement. The center's exhibits vividly portray the struggles and triumphs of the workers and unionists of the Polish Solidarity movement, which played a pivotal role in bringing about political change in Eastern Europe during the 1980s.
One of the best museums to check out in Poland, dedicating a well-sized exhibition to a topic spanning only a short but incredibly important era of Poland's most recent history. The presentation is superb and the subject matter explained well and with much dignity. A must-see if you're around Gdańsk and just remotely interested in this country's post-war history leading up to present-day Poland.
Markus V — Google review
Definitely THE museum to check out in Gdansk, it documents the history of the Solidarnosc movement that led to the end of communism and the splintering of the Soviet Union. There's a brilliant audio guide that gives detailed information and leads you through the exhibitions in either 1.5 or 2.5hrs, your choice. The variety of exhibits and the timeline they document is stunning, extremely interior and so well presented. There's also a free viewing platform on the roof of the building. Definitely don't skip this museum!
Bianca W — Google review
Fantastic museum! The permanent exhibition is excellent and very well laid out and informative. The audio guide is included in the price and again was very good. The museum is situated right at the heart of where the Solidarity movement started and holds such a vital piece of history in Europe. A must see attraction!
Matt S — Google review
Fascinating museum in a great building. Although I remember seeing the events on TV of Solidarnosc and martial law, this was a really interesting wider look at the power of protest and organisation and the huge impact of the events in Poland on the decline and disintegration of the Soviet bloc. The audio guide, included in the ticket, really helps. We had to rush through some parts as we were time limited but could easily have spent 2-3 hours here.
Simon W — Google review
One of the best museums I have ever been to. Well worth it. Very informative. Normally can't be bothered with the Audio guide but gave it a go and well worth it. 2 hours well spent. Also learnt a lot in a topic I thought I knew quite a bit on. Well done A cool venue aswell. Looks like they do events there which would be a nice setting. Also the library is very nice
Feston C — Google review
Very beautiful, new and interactive museum. It’s sad because the history wasn’t so good but it’s definitely worth visiting. Everyone should visit this museum while you’re in the Gdansk. You will get to choose from the 2 audio guides 1.5 and 2.5 hour one. We choosed the 1.5 hour one and we were there for 3 hours. Also I personally recommend buying tickets in the advance so you be don’t need to wait a long line for buying tickets.
Vladimir L — Google review
Fantastic museum! Holds a very powerful story, not just for Poland but for all of the democratic world. Other than the story and history, the architecture and build of the museum is sturdy with an industrial structure. I loved how you are encouraged to touch everything, different to other museums where you have to be extra careful. Be sure to take the official picture by Gate 2, where the solidarity movement exited the shipyard.

Museums
The Museum of the Second World War, a striking and modern establishment that opened its doors in 2017, stands as a poignant tribute to Poland's experiences during one of history's darkest chapters. Located in Gdansk, the very city where WWII began, this museum offers visitors an immersive journey through the multifaceted impacts of the war.
Very cool museum. Well displayed information and things to look at. I recommend buying tickets in advance. The audio guide is very good also. The museum is very large and there are 18 rooms. This takes a minimum of 2 hours. Would recommend.
Daniel M — Google review
We went to the museum on a Tuesday afternoon, not realising that on Tuesdays, the museum is free to visit which is wonderful! We didn’t book or buy a ticket in advance, but it’s generally recommended to do so due to limitations of how many visitors are allowed in the museum at a time. When we arrived, the main entrance was closed with a few people arriving a bit before us. The people ahead of us asked a security guard for directions on how to get in, and they were told to form a queue near the main entrance, as there’s too many visitors at the moment. We waited about 10-15 minutes before being let in. I think that this system could be organised a lot better, as there were no signs or obvious indicators that we simply had to queue to be able to get inside, as the doors were closed and no representative was waiting outside. To get to the main exhibition, you have to go down to the very bottom floor, which has a souvenir shop, info desk, toilets, seating area, cafe, lockers for backpacks and a section to get an audio guide from. We got a free ticket by going to the info desk and also a small black coin to use in the lockers to store our larger bag (security at the entrance to the main exhibition will likely turn you away from the queue if you have a backpack). The main exhibition was very informative and laid out in a nice, logical way - lots of reading material, videos that played on repeat with subtitles, and pictures/items to view. Make sure to give yourself a few hours if you wish to not rush through the whole experience, it takes about 2-3 hours to go through the main exhibition. The top most floor has also a small exhibition, which covers a bit about the history of the site where the museum was built. Overall a very interesting museum, definitely worth a visit!
Eric R — Google review
An absolutely incredible museum — a must-visit in Gdańsk! The exhibitions are powerful, emotional, and very well presented, giving deep insight into World War II from many perspectives. Everything is modern, well-organized, and easy to follow. You can easily spend a few hours here. Highly recommended for anyone interested in history
Salah T — Google review
Thoroughly brilliant. As they say, "Education is everything." The whole experience from start to finish is sobering but we'll worth taking the time. It will take around 3 hours to go through each exhibition but it is well worth it. From the 1920's until the end of WW2, everything is explained in detail. Well worth the time to visit.
George M — Google review
The museum experience is exquisite. The exhibits were comprehensive, well laid out, clear directional signage for circulation, font and letter size easy to read and allow people to stand far enough so no crowding. All in a very unique and beautifully designed modern building.
Winncie — Google review
Great exhibition of world war 2. Hear about the lead up to the war, see the artifacts and learn how it all came to an end. Get the audio guide, it doesn't cost much. They have secure lockers on site. Take a drink for the tour. It takes a couple of hours and there's limited opportunities to buy refreshments during.
Christopher M — Google review
A wonderful exhibition of WWII history, depicting many facets of life in Poland during those years. Some parts can be emotionally harrowing, while being honest about events. We visited at a weekend which was busy, plus as independent visitors we got caught up in groups which impacts the ability to view exhibits. Having said that the place is a ‘not to be missed’ while visiting the museum.
David I — Google review
Massive museum this. Easy to find. Need a couple of hours to do the tour properly. It's more like a Second World War Tour. Than other museums. Did not book tickets in advance. But did end up queuing to buy them. So book in advance. Decent cafe on site as well. Entrance is downstairs. But there is a small lift as well. Place is huge inside. Does get busy at a Weekend. Would recommend not expensive and so good history to see.

St. Mary's Church

Basilica
Sights & Landmarks
Bazylika Mariacka Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Maryi Panny w Gdańsku, also known as St. Mary's Church, is a Gothic Roman Catholic place of worship completed in 1502. It is one of the tallest structures in Gdansk Old Town and offers a stunning panoramic view of the city from its clock tower.
We made time for St. Mary’s Church and it quickly became one of our favorite stops in Gdańsk. Walking inside, you feel instantly dwarfed by the soaring vaults, crisp white walls, and softly filtered light streaming through stained glass—there’s a quiet majesty to it that surprised us. Seeing hundreds of memorial plaques and walking past dozens of small chapels gave the place a peaceful sense of history and reflection. Then we stumbled upon the astronomical clock—it’s huge, with wooden figures that move around at just before noon. It felt charmingly medieval.
K E — Google review
St. Mary’s Church in Gdańsk, also known as the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a monumental Gothic structure and one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Constructed between 1343 and 1502, it stands as the largest brick church in the world, capable of accommodating up to 25,000 people. The interior is vast and serene, featuring over 300 tombstones, 31 chapels, and 37 windows that allow natural light to illuminate the space. A highlight is the 15th-century astronomical clock, standing 14 meters tall, which showcases intricate mechanisms displaying the time, date, lunar phases, and zodiac positions. At noon, a procession of figures, including Adam and Eve, the Three Kings, and the Apostles, emerges, captivating visitors with its historical charm. For panoramic views of Gdańsk, visitors can climb the church’s 78-meter tower via 409 steps. The ascent is steep and narrow in places, so it’s advisable to wear comfortable footwear and be prepared for a physically demanding climb. The effort is rewarded with stunning vistas of the city’s Old Town and beyond. Admission to the church is free, while access to the tower requires a small fee. Opening hours vary seasonally, so it’s recommended to check the official website before visiting. Overall, St. Mary’s Church offers a profound glimpse into Gdańsk’s rich history and architectural grandeur, making it a must-visit for those exploring the city.
R — Google review
While the church is impressive from the outside and historically significant, the interior felt quite plain and underwhelming. There are a few interesting elements, like the astronomical clock and some old tombstones, but overall it lacks the detail you might expect from such a large structure.
Karol — Google review
Great free church in the centre. The place has an amazing astronomical clock which chimes at 12 pm every day. The church is very busy during this period. There is also a tower with 400 steps, giving panoramic views of the city for a fee.
John C — Google review
Wow, it's just massive. Not as ornate inside as other Polish churches, but there was a large selection of relics inside. Free to visit. Remove your hat, be respectful.
Spelling C — Google review
Walking into St. Mary’s Church feels like entering a cathedral of light. The soaring white arches draw your eyes upward, while the vibrant stained-glass windows fill the interior with deep blues and warm reds. The atmosphere is calm and surprisingly intimate despite the impressive scale. The golden altarpiece and the astronomical clock were the highlights of my visit. Both are beautifully preserved and full of intricate details that you can admire up close. Several side chapels display sculptures, marble monuments and religious artifacts, making the whole space feel like an open-air museum. During my visit the floors were still slightly wet from melted ice outside, so I walked carefully, but it didn’t affect the experience. The church was quiet, and it was easy to appreciate each section without crowds. A must-see landmark in Gdańsk for anyone interested in architecture, history, or sacred art.
Camille S — Google review
Not the most ornate but a truly worthwhile visit. The climb to the viewing point in the roof (400 steps) is well worth it. The main reason i liked it was not so much for the view, which was fantastic, but for the rough and ready (authentic) steps and scaffold walkways which i much prefer to the sanitized/safe "tourist friendly" experiences that are the norm nowadays. Highly recommended.
Odhran M — Google review
This building is beautiful both externally and internally. I would caution taking the spiral staircase (it cost £4). The first 100 spiral steps are long, low and very narrow - and without a handrail, so it feels quite dangerous especially if busy. There are limited places for a rest or passing. The last 300 or so steps are much safer. If you do you reach the top, you are rewarded with excellent views over Gdansk and out to the Baltic Sea. I'd strongly recommend installing handrails as a minimum for safety - I'd visit the building again but not climb the stairs. "Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?" Acts 7:48-50

Mariacka is a charming cobblestone pedestrian promenade in Gdansk, lined with historic buildings featuring terraces and regal portals. This delightful street, often used as a backdrop for period movies, had to be reconstructed after suffering extensive damage during World War II. The entrances to the narrow merchant houses are on small terraces above the street level, where restaurants also offer seating with ornamental reliefs on low walls.
Lovely historical street with Amber jewellery. Highly recommended 👌

A short street but with many interesting shops and cafes. Quite crowded during day time, but quite during the night. Enjoyed to have a short stop there.

Nice, touristy street centered around amber. We bought something from two stores that were quite different from each other. One way more touristy (other products, bigger shop) than the other (artsier, small inside). Watch your head going down into the shops!

So many great shops. The perfect place to get gifts for yourself and for others. Truly something for everyone.

Beautiful street Amber's selling from the streets but unfortunately not good for anymore with disability as entrance to shops are by steep steps..

A charming street tucked away in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town, where history quietly whispers from every building. The architecture reflects centuries of heritage, with beautifully preserved facades and intricate details that invite you to slow down and take it all in. Lined with cozy cafés, artisan jewelry stores, and local boutiques, this street offers the perfect blend of culture and calm. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a peaceful coffee, browse handmade crafts, or simply take a scenic stroll, this little corner of the city delivers a timeless, relaxed atmosphere. In the evenings, soft lighting adds a magical glow to the cobblestones, making it a wonderful spot for a romantic walk or quiet reflection. A hidden gem for those who appreciate the quieter, more soulful side of the Old Town.
Vadym — Google review
One of the most beautiful streets I've seen in Poland and, in my opinion, the most visually unique in Gdańsk. After Stara Motława, it's the second most worth-seeing spot in the city. The narrow, tall facades of Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance townhouses, adorned with stone porches, balustrades, gargoyles, and metalwork, are quite impressive. This, combined with the smaller (intimate) character of the street and the subtle display cases of amber jewelry, well-integrated into the architectural style, creates a very pleasant environment. The street is bordered on the west by St. Mary's Basilica and on the east by St. Mary's Gate, which leads to Stara Motława. You'll find mainly amber jewelry shops here.

Długa, also known as Long Street and Long Market, is a historic thoroughfare in Gdansk Old Town, Europe. It has been a bustling commercial hub for centuries and is flanked by impressive historic buildings that once belonged to wealthy merchants. The street is adorned with the Neptune fountain and the town clock at the top of the town hall. Surrounding attractions include St. Marys Basilica, the Old Town Hall, Gothic town gates, and Zuraw Crane within the Historical Center.

Dluga – this street is full of history. We must remember that much of it was rebuilt after 1945. In March of that year, almost 90 percent of the Rechtstadt was destroyed. And yet, in the years that followed, under the communist regime, a remarkable decision was made in Warsaw: not to replace it with rows of apartment blocks in the typical socialist style, as was done across Eastern Europe, but instead to rebuild the historical heart of the city. That choice was a great achievement. Thanks to it, we can still walk these streets today, discover their stories, and feel the spirit of history alive around us.

Another must-see destination in Gdańsk, but not as impressive as the buildings along the Stara Motława River, Mariacka Street, or the adjacent market square. Długi Targ Street is an extension of the market square of the same name, together forming the so-called Royal Route. It is bounded on the west by the Golden Gate and on the east by the Main City Hall, beyond which the market square begins. The surrounding townhouses are primarily home to restaurants, boutiques, and souvenir shops.

Beautiful place to visit , the prices are pretty expensive thought. Big free parking People with babies I would suggest a harness and not a pushchair as it’s kind of rocky and not straight pavement. There are few restaurants and a kids park. Zip line purchase separately at 25zl Entrance 47zl per person under 6 go free.

Interesting place to learn more about the WWII history of the region. Unfortunately a bit expensive for what you get. And most of the information is only in Polish.
Ghgames — Google review
We mistakenly thought this was a large outdoor museum but it's relatively small and you can't go in all the houses. It's an interesting way to spend 45 mins to an hour and is not expensive. There's also plenty of parking. There seemed to be a couple of restaurants but they weren't open in early April. We drove from Gdansk thinking we would be there hours, but never mind, the scenery around the park was nice.
Tracy S — Google review
Three parts, the first educational, the second fairy-tale and the third climbing. The fairy tale part needs fixing. Climbing is best for children and educational for older children. I gave one less star because each part is paid separately.

We visited this place for the second time. It is still very interesting but we were very disappointed that most of the buildings were closed! In MAY! It was totally unacceptable to pay full price and get only 30% of buildings open.

Not disabled friendly at all, all the paths are uneven bumpy and lots of hills and stairs. Not the place to come if you struggle with your mobility or using a mobility scooter.
Wesley M — Google review
A very interesting "gravity defying" piece of architecture and construction work. A must visit place in the outskirts of Gdansk through a very scenic road . Everything inside & outside the house is upside down. Some people find get a bit dizzy after some time inside the house as human brain could take a bit of time to get adjusted to this unusual place. I had too much fun. There are basically 2 floors inside the house and one can go to both levels. Some interesting paintings are in the "second " floor. Good place for photography too.

Dinosaur Park - Dino Park Malbork

Water & Amusement Parks
Dinosaur Park - Dino Park Malbork is conveniently located just a kilometer away from Malbork train station and a short 15-minute walk from the famous Malbork Castle. The park offers a naturalistic setting with a trail through leafy wooded areas, featuring interactive dinosaur and dragon figures. It's an ideal place to escape the city and cool off on hot days.
When heading to Malbork, apart from Malbork castle this one becomes one of the must visit place as there are not many attractions to be visited in Malbork. There is a huge garden displayed with many types of dinos (there is an usual kids play area and a small Cafe in between the garden when we get tired/bored of walking), 5D theatre, 5 or 6 small rides suitable for kids including a small level of boating. All these are included in the ticket price and the best thing is that the rides are unlimited. Hence the kids can enjoy every rides until they get bored of it. Ultimately everything has been planned based on kids in mind. Hence it's definitely worth a visit for a family with kids where the parents could visualise the enjoyment on kids' face and they could also enjoy along with their kids in every rides, as there is no restrictions for the parents to be accompanied in rides. Inside, there are few restaurants with some basic foods with very reasonable price. I would say don't miss this park if you are traveling to Malbork with kids.
Yogesh S — Google review
I recently visited the Dinosaur Park and it was a huge disappointment. The park is old and rundown, and the extra charges for the carousel were just ridiculous. The overall experience was far from enjoyable, and the cost of admission was not justified by the quality of the park. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day out.
Denis O — Google review
You pay 84zl and everything inside is extra pay. Such a steal. Not so much fun for 2-3 years old. The best fun he had on the playground. But lets be honest, there are similar playgrounds around the city not 1h drive away.

Lovely place to spend good time with family and friends. They have dinosaur working models,5d cinema, game zone, bouncy house for kids, slide and swing play area, adventure park ,museum, all included in entrance ticket. You need to pay for separate arcade games with different denomination coins. There is cafe, popcorn, slushy shop inside if you want to buy food item. Overall fun for all day.
Shraddha V — Google review
A huge let down. On a recent trip to Poland took the kids there to experience something different and new in a different country… Although the price for western standards was reasonable, the quality was well below expectations, with some of the rides perhaps dating back to early 90s and extremely ran down. Staff tried, but seemed demotivated and just doing what was required to earn their money. Nothing to write home about, apart from this review, locals seemed to like it - but I felt it was steep price for them for what they were actually getting. Won’t come back and wouldn’t recommend.
Chris A — Google review
My opinions are true and honest. This place has much potential and requires proper management. It seems as it lacks the envolvement of the owners. Also a major concern of mine was safety. There is no staff looking in t for the safety of children. Further the amount of staff is fully understaffed. There is not enough staff for the rides. There is no line watching and a run for all on the rides. The only place that is actually staffed is the line park. Which I can’t complain about. What I can complain about is a bouncy castle made for small children to jump and all big kids on there calling names at the small children. This is unacceptable, I confronted a staff member in a yellow shirt which says happy to help who told me that this is how kids play. This establishment needs a small turnaround and safety officer and it will get much much better. As far as the dinosaur trail, I can’t fault it in any way. Owners get on top and take control of the establishment.
Adrian F — Google review
Fun place for kids, full of dragons, dinosaurs and other mythical and fairytale creatures.
Olgierd W — Google review
Really good price for the whole family. There was also a great playground and jumping castle that was free. Good for small children. Only bad thing was the food. Update 2025, been going for 6 years, getting worse each year and more expensive. Not surprised if they close it down soon...

Malbork Castle, also known as the Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork, is a 14th-century fortress that was originally built as a stronghold by the Teutonic Knights. Situated on the banks of the River Nogat, it served as their headquarters for almost 150 years. The castle now houses a museum with medieval artifacts, paintings, and an impressive amber collection.
Absolutely worth a visit! Tickets include an interactive online audio guide that not only tells you where to go but also shows key highlights on the screen. The range of available languages is impressive. The castle exhibition is massive, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The whole tour takes about an hour. I recommend it more!"

It’s a fascinating place to explore, full of winding halls, towers, and hidden corners that really give you a feel of its medieval past. Walking through it is both fun and atmospheric, and you can easily spend hours discovering new details. The audio guide is excellent—clear, engaging, and full of stories that make the history come alive in a really enjoyable way.

Okay wow! This is a world heritage site and a must to visit when in Poland. So much history here and the engineering has stood the test of time. There's translation devices for most languages when you enjoy the walking tour. As an Orthodox Christian I can still enjoy the beauty and pure massiveness of this romantic place from another time.

I've never done a self guided or audio tour before, but this was definitely an awesome experience if you're into exploring historical sites. The audio guide was fairly detailed and the English speaking version was great. Each section had me engaged and excited for the next part of the tour. The whole experience was one I won't forget and I really wish I could've brought my family to experience it with me. I'd love to post more pictures, but I don't want to take away from the experience.

Really great tour experience. Self guided with English headset MP3 type of device. Easy to stay walking distance at nice hotels. Ordered the ticket type we wanted online the night before and simply go to the ticket office and receive an audio device.
Kelly G — Google review
The castle is very interesting amd definitely worth visiting! The building is split into multiple parts so the complex over all is HUGE and you can easily spend several hours just walking around. When I went the audio guide was included which was fairly nice, but a bit dry in terms of the content. It is difficult to find your way around the castle as most doors are not marked so the audio guide which literally tells you where to go, what door to open etc, was very useful for navigation. As a historic site it is really worth taking a day trip to visit the castle and the castle grounds.
Renate S — Google review
Impressive architecture. With the audio guide it's a great history lesson. While it's pretty much an unfurnished castle there are some great displays such as the Amber Room, the armory with weapons ranging centuries from both European and Eastern countries. In addition, the cellar restaurant was surprisingly excellent and fairly priced. Recommend!

Malbork is a charming town with a beautifully renovated railway station constructed of red bricks. The interior features coats of arms representing local areas, adding to its historical charm. The station is conveniently located about 10-15 minutes' walk from the impressive Malbork Castle. Visitors can make use of storage lockers at the station or opt for a free locker near the castle ticket office when visiting this stunning attraction.
Beautiful and charming train station! Fantastic design. Ticket sales people do not speak English, so prepare to have your Google Translate ready.

Malbork Railway Station is a beautifully restored neo-Gothic building that serves as the main rail hub in the town of Malbork, Poland. Originally opened in 1890, the station underwent significant renovations between 2010 and 2011, preserving historical elements such as bullet marks from World War II and intricate architectural details like coats of arms and wooden ceilings . The station is conveniently located in the city center, approximately a 10–20 minute walk from the renowned Malbork Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site . It features four covered platforms accessible via an underground passage and offers connections to major Polish cities, including Gdańsk, Warsaw, and Kraków, through Intercity (IC), TLK, and regional Polregio services . Facilities at the station include a ticket office, a waiting room, restrooms located in a separate building, a limited number of luggage lockers, vending machines, a small bar, and a fast-food outlet. An ATM is available in front of the station . While the station provides essential amenities, travelers should be aware that the number of luggage lockers is limited. For those planning to visit Malbork Castle, additional luggage storage options are available near the castle’s ticket office . It’s also advisable to check train schedules in advance, as regional trains can be crowded during peak times . Overall, Malbork Railway Station combines historical charm with functional services, making it a pleasant starting point for exploring the town and its famous castle.

A few coin lockers for big luggage in the train station. There also some relatively smaller ones in the Malbork castle. (Train station ones are bigger but fewer)

A very beautiful station, a bit dirty. They got a storage locker that you can put your stuff in. 2 big ones and 3 small ones with a cost. If you plan to visit the Malbork Castle, there is a free locker under the ticket office which is free but you will need a 2 zloty coin to use it but you will get it back when you return the key.

Contemporary hotel in a former medieval castle offering jousting reenactments & knights' feasts.
The hotel is located in the impressive former castle of Mewe built by the Teutonic Order (reception/indoor pool with whirl pool / fitness area), a Baroque palace overlooking the Wisla river and a modern part with nice comfy rooms and a restaurant. The town is small and quiet but nice to have a stroll and buy some things in local stores around the rynek (market square). There is a church and some well-preserved houses in walking distance. Highly recommended to stay in tis hotel!

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, especially enjoying its excellent location and the range of fun activities, like the medieval fair activity our work had booked. The rooms were comfortable, and the spa and pool added a nice touch to the experience. However, the service could have been more attentive, and there were quite a few spiders outside the windows. Overall, a good place for a unique getaway.
Martin H — Google review
We didn’t stay overnight but had a quick visit to take pictures. This is a historical site that has been turned into a spa and hotel. Maybe we’ll come back to stay one day, but business must be good as the two ladies in the reception weren’t enthusiastic about talking to us or recommending any services. In fact, they seemed more interested in talking to each other. Let’s ignore that though as it’s a pretty beautiful to visit.

The experience was nice and exciting to be in such a historic place. There were three hotels, the castle, a Palace and a modern style building. Each having its own nice feel and we stayed in the Palace. For the gym, swimming pool and other attractions we had to always move to the main castle and meals were served in the modern building so for me was not so comfortable but it's OK.

Very good hotel. The reception service is very friendly and solved all the issues very promptly. There is not many people in restaurant that speaks English. The swimming pool is nice. Archery practice is also a plus. If you go by car, the access is easy, and if you go by train, you need extra attention because the train only arrives in a nearby city. The station does not offer any sort of service, products or any kind of facilities. It is recommended that you book your taxi on the way by searching on Google for any taxi driver or company in town, once on site there is nothing.

This is my second time visiting the Klimek Tower in Grudziądz, I feel flattered to have this intimacy of knowing a part of the history of this amazing city and knowing that people here resisted historical moments of the country. The city is small and there are amazing places to visit, I also recommend a walk through the forest, it's something incredibly calming.

Completely rebuilt tower, originally dates to the Teutonic Knights Order. So historically it’s new but surrounded by the ruins of the old castle. Maybe not a destination by itself but if you are in the area, it’s worth climbing it. The views from the top are spectacular

Biutifull place, I have a pictures from 1998 when I was here first time and this town change a lot, clear buildings, lots of restaurants nice coffee bars finally people start to care about the places like that in Poland, trams in small narrow streets of old town amazing view, the view from the tower amazing, I usually make the tours arround the castles in this area. The coffee and cake near the tower taste great with the fantastic view on the Wisła river. I'm waiting for the day when big river cruise ships will dock down the old town with visitors, big potential for river cruises.

Great place to visit. This observation tower is erected amongst the ruins of the medieval Teutonic castle on a hill on a river bank. That gives you a unique opportunity to see the Vistula river and town at the same time. The river flows along the fields, there's a bridge on the one side and a river bend to the other. The panorama of the town changes from old brown stones into modern estaes on the right and on the left there are XIX century Prussian military buildings, the unmistakable sign of one of the greatest forts/citadels in central Europe. When you're lucky enough to climb it at the dusk you'll be able to see a sea of lights in a distance coming from the wind farms. It's very impressive!

There tower is located on a vast hill, next to the town square. The tower itself is not actually historic. In the medieval times there was a Teutonic Castle. However it was all dismantled, excepting the tower, which was then razed to the ground by the Germans in 1945. In 2010s a completly new, same looking tower was built. There are numerous relics of the castle's walls.

Planetarium. W. Dziewulskiego is a remarkable destination in Torun, offering captivating shows on constellations, planets, and galaxies alongside interactive exhibits. The city itself boasts a rich history and stunning medieval architecture, including Gothic cathedrals, the Old Town Hall, and the ruins of the first Teutonic castle in Poland. Visitors can also explore the Gingerbread Museum and encounter mysticism at the planetarium.
One of the biggest tourist attractions in Toruń is Planetarium. It is the most technically advanced planetarium in Poland and due to its characteristic architectural design - the semicircular dome and rotunda shape, the building is easily recognisable among other structures of Old Town. I remember I was there with school as a kid and I was amazed of the performance. Now I came back after years and still was impressed of atmosphere. Book in advance on their website. I have no idea if they have also English performances.

Thank you for bringing back great memories from my childhood when we used to had planetarium in Riga. 😊🙏 I enjoyed a Macrocosmos show. My colleague felt a little sick, but overall experience is great and worth a try. Those who suffers from seasickness not recommended.

It's possible to pay in cash and using a credit card. During weekends all tickets are discounted to the price of a student ticket. The shows are quite interesting, but made with 3D graphics that looks really outdated, during some parts of the show one may feel a little sick, but overall experience is great and worth a try.
Rafał P — Google review
Tried phoning all morning and afternoon to book tickets but no answer, they answered a few times but hung up straight away. That didn’t seem to be helping so I started emailing someone at the same time who was extremely unhelpful and sarcastic over the messages. Tried registering/signing up on the website to see if I could book tickets that way but it just tells you to phone. Again no answer

Great place for families with children. Movies are designed for children without too many scientific facts so it can be enjoyable for them. There is no cloakroom there what is a pity but from the projection people are coming out directly to the street. Make sure you have your mask on as many people ignore the risk and do not wear it inside coughing in the tight interiors. If you reserve your ticket online you have to buy it earlier than 15 minutes before the projection or you will loose it.

The Regional Museum in Torun, housed in the medieval Old Town Hall complex, offers a glimpse into the city's rich history. The Gothic buildings stand as a testament to its former grandeur. Visitors can explore valuable collections within the museum and marvel at original interiors of the Cathedral of SS John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, St James Church, and St Mary's Church.
I visited here because of the towns world heritage status. I bought the musuem pass and visited all of them. This one is one of the most important one explaining a lot of the history etc. Built in the 13th century, the town hall was a symbol of Toruń’s importance as a major trading hub in the Hanseatic League. The museum features exhibitions on medieval art, local craftsmanship, and the life of Nicolaus Copernicus, who was born in Toruń.

This museum is much more of importance than it advertised itself. I was more than happy to ‘discover’ this place in Torun. Very nice are the paintings of all Polish Kings in the city hall, in order of their duties. Have a look to the doors of the 15th and 16th centuries. I love the arts on how the artist decorated the doors at the time. You shouldn’t miss the gothic exhibition on the ground floor, it shows very nice triptych from medieval times, collected from different places in Poland. Note Sept 2025: Extra exhibition on the top floor shows paintings of Stefan Gierowski
Michael S — Google review
25 zlotys for the tower, the museum is free on Wednesday. The best view of Torun is from the top of the tower, if you have a sunny day you can have some good photography. About the museum, the ground floor is about the history of the town and it’s quite good and entertaining, the first floor have some good historical paintings and artifacts from the town, the second floor is about a modern art and personally I didn’t like it. The tower is must for me and the museum only if it’s Wednesday. Staff speak English.

For centuries, this beautiful old town market square has been the heartbeat of the city's public life. Filled with numerous historical gems, it's a treasure trove for history enthusiasts. Fortunately, the town was spared the ravages of World War II, allowing visitors to admire its precious buildings that have been listed on the UNESCO heritage list. The square is vibrant, bustling with shops, restaurants, and various attractions, drawing tourists from all over the world. Everything is conveniently located near the Vistula River, making it an ideal spot for those seeking historical attractions and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The Regional Museum in Toruń is a valuable cultural institution that offers a rich glimpse into the history of the region. The exhibits are well-curated, and the historic buildings add a unique atmosphere to the experience. However, some sections could benefit from clearer English translations for non-Polish-speaking visitors, as it would make the museum more accessible to international tourists. Additionally, the layout in a few areas feels a bit disjointed, making navigation through the exhibits occasionally confusing. Despite these minor issues, the museum remains an essential stop for anyone interested in Toruń’s fascinating history.
Roya S — Google review
The Old Town Hall in Toruń is one of the largest and most beautiful buildings of its kind in Europe, and it is part of the Old Town Complex, one of the best-preserved ensembles of Gothic residential architecture in Europe. The Town Hall is located in the heart of the historic Toruń Old Town, inscribed in 1997 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Currently, the Old Town Hall serves as the main seat of the District Museum in Toruń. An unquestionable attraction is the open seven days a week observation terrace located at the top of a 40-meter tower, from which you can admire the picturesque panorama of the city, weather permitting. The view is beautiful, but the ticket prices, especially for the tower, are quite high. While the cost of admission for one person shouldn't be a problem, for a family, the amount becomes significant. On Wednesdays, admission to permanent exhibitions is free.

When visiting Toruń, make sure to stop by the Nicolaus Copernicus Monument, a bronze statue erected in 1853 to honor the renowned Renaissance astronomer. Standing at 2.6 meters tall, it is the second oldest monument in Poland and has become a symbol of the city. The statue is a must-see for its historical significance and as a beautiful landmark in Toruń's Old City Market Square.
A popular landmark to meet with people at the heart of Torun's old town. A homage to the great scientist Nicolaus Copernicus, born in Torun.

Nicolaus Copernicus (19 February 1473 – 24 May 1543) was a Renaissance polymath, active as a mathematician, astronomer, and Catholic canon, who formulated a model of the universe that placed the Sun rather than Earth at its center. In all likelihood, Copernicus developed his model independently of Aristarchus of Samos, an ancient Greek astronomer who had formulated such a model some eighteen centuries earlier. It’s a MUST SEE in Torun. Kopernik is a PRODUD for polish history. Definitely recommend come and see and read about that astonished person.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You can't visit Toruń without appreciating the magnificent Nicolaus Copernicus Monument. I find this statue amazing. It dominates the beautiful Old Town Square in the best possible way, serving as a powerful symbol of the city's most famous son. I think it’s more than just a statue, it's a daily reminder of the revolutionary thinking that changed our understanding of the universe. Absolutely essential to experience.

The monument of Nicolaus Copernicus standing in the Old Town Square is one of the most important symbols of Toruń. The monument was placed in its current location in 1853, making it the second-oldest preserved statue of Nicolaus Copernicus in Poland. The figure of the eminent astronomer was cast in bronze and stands over 2.5 meters tall. The sculpture was created by Berlin artist Friedrich Abraham Tieck. The Latin inscription on the pedestal indicates that the commemorated person is Nicolaus Copernicus, a Toruń native, who set the Earth in motion while halting the Sun and the sky. It is challenging to capture a photo of Copernicus alone or against the monument backdrop without other accompanying individuals, as the statue is typically surrounded by tourists.

Old Town Toruń is a true architectural marvel and a treasure trove of history. The beautifully preserved medieval buildings, cobblestone streets, and charming squares transport you back in time. Exploring the narrow alleyways reveals a delightful mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, including the iconic Town Hall and stunning churches. The vibrant atmosphere, lined with cozy cafes, restaurants, and shops, adds to the charm. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking a captivating stroll, Old Town Toruń is a captivating destination that will leave you spellbound.

Beautiful place for photos day or night. 😎 Nearby: for a few złotych, buy tickets and climb to the roof of the clock tower above Copernicus' statue. It's worth it! Such a view! You climb right past the bells that chime the hour. (Stairs aren't even, so be careful. It's an adventure!)

A place you must see in the oldtown center of Torun, it’s a amazing city that I could say one of the most beautiful city in Poland, even better than krakow and Wroclaw in someways. Hardly destroyed in WW2, therefore a lot of historical buildings survived. Torun also happened to be the hometown of Nicolaus Copernicus.

The House of Nicolaus Copernicus in Torun is a Gothic building that holds exhibits on the life and work of the famous astronomer. The house also showcases medieval merchant culture. The spirit of Copernicus still influences the field of science in his hometown, inspiring other eminent scientists such as Professor Wladyslaw Dziewulski and Professor Wilhelmina Iwanowska.
The mansion, built in the Gothic style, is the birthplace and childhood home of the renowned astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus. It stands as a remarkable piece of history, offering a glimpse into the life of one of the most influential figures in science. The fact that Poland has preserved this historic building is of great importance, as it allows future generations to connect with the legacy of Copernicus and the rich cultural heritage of the country.

Great museum. Visit well worth it! You can learn a lot more than I expected! Highly recommend it!
Piotr L — Google review
Honestly, not worth it. I don’t usually leave negative Google reviews, but my experience here was pretty bad. For one, the museum really was not particularly informative about Nicholas Copernicus. I get that it was 500 years ago and sometimes details are lost to history, plus this isn’t really where he made any of his calculations and discoveries, but still, they could have spent some time diving into who he was and how his upbringing may have affected who he became. Instead, There were a few hard-to-navigate iPad displays with a few paragraphs about his family in the very first room, and then everything else was pretty much just an example of a typical house of that era. That’s fine, but it’s not what I journeyed to Toruń to discover. But even worse: the whole house was just utterly and completely clogged up by tour groups with no sense of letting individual travelers move around them and experience the home and loud, nasal-voiced tour guide guides who completely obstructed me from being able to hear the relatively few audio presentations. It also didn’t help that it literally took me 10 minutes of standing at the ticket desk to buy my ticket, because the clerk was so busy processing some silly VAT receipt thing for the tour group ahead of me. This was a bit annoying, because I only had about 45 minutes before I had to leave to catch a train. Although ultimately, I couldn’t wait to get out of that museum fast enough, so the lost time really wasn’t a problem in the end. At the very tail end of the exhibit, it did look like they had tried to implement some more immersive exhibits (with some projectors and dark rooms) that had the potential to create the sense of awe and wonder of the sky that Copernicus surely experienced in his youth, but they were done in a pretty half hearted fashion. If I were the curator of this museum, I would have started the exhibit with those types of experiences and led people into a sense of curiosity about the heavens, exploring who Copernicus was and what made him tick before then finishing with an idea of what the house may have looked like when he was there. But as it stands, I left the museum really having learned next to nothing about Copernicus himself or even really what his discoveries were and very little about anything else of interest. Even though I have an interest in the sciences and generally appreciate paying homage to important places in scientific history like this, I honestly can’t recommend it. I guess it’s cheap enough that if you want to duck in just to say you’ve been here, you should, but don’t expect to get much out of the experience.
Chris L — Google review
You have to go to this museum in Toruń! It is a must see here. Nicolaus Copernicus was one of the most influential people of his time and was a pioneer in the heliocentric theory, the theory where the planets revolve around the sun. I highly recommend this museum!
Tadeusz G — Google review
The house tells different stories. First is the story of Kopernikus and his researches, the greek ‘influencer’ at that time, like Apollonios, Aristoteles and Pythagoras and, of importance, the development of the tools needed for his studies, the circle. The second part shows the live of an rich successful businessman, it shows how they live and tell something about the business. Unfortunately there is not much known about Kopernikus ancestors. I personally like the first part most, the second part is more about the history of Torun and the medieval time, it is similar to other cities like the Hanse.

Absolutely delighted with our visit to the House of Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń — a true five-star experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our guide made this visit incredibly special — passionate, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating stories that brought Copernicus’s world to life. Every room became a journey through time, beautifully connecting science, history, and human curiosity. The museum itself is wonderfully curated, with engaging exhibits, clear explanations, and an authentic atmosphere that preserves the spirit of the place. The staff were welcoming and professional, and the location in the heart of Toruń’s old town makes it a must-see. We left inspired and grateful — a perfect stop for anyone interested in astronomy, history, or Polish heritage. Highly recommended!

Muzeum Piernika, located in a historic 1863 granary, offers an immersive experience into the tradition of gingerbread-making in Torun. Visitors can engage in hands-on baking activities and explore the city's rich history of gingerbread production. The cobblestone streets are filled with the enticing aroma of ginger and cinnamon, leading to numerous Piernik shops where visitors can sample some of the best gingerbread cookies.
This is a place you can’t miss when visiting Toruń. From the moment you enter, you can feel the great atmosphere—people are friendly and fun. It’s a fantastic spot for everyone, whether children or adults. You can learn how gingerbread was made in the past and even bake your own at the end of the experience. I recommend booking tickets in advance, as availability is limited and they sell out quickly.

We visited as a family and had a wonderful experience. We joined the session with simultaneous English translation, which was very well done. The visit begins with a storytelling session that takes you through the history of gingerbread in the region, followed by a hands-on activity where you make your own gingerbread with traditional tools and guidance — a great mix of fun and learning. What stood out to us was not just the content of the museum, but also the warmth and professionalism of the staff — from the hosts to the interpreters, everyone was incredibly welcoming and engaged. There are also additional small activities that make the whole visit even more enjoyable, especially for kids. It’s truly an experience that appeals to both children and adults. Torun itself is a beautiful and impressive city, and this museum is one of those special places that reflect its rich history in an interactive and memorable way. Highly recommended, especially for families looking to enjoy something meaningful and fun together.

This was pointed out to us by friends as a fun thing to do, so we bought tickets and waded in. It's a museum plus interactive venue where you actually get to make some gingerbread. You are actually informed, however, not to eat the gingerbread you make as the process is rushed and the recipe is not quite right. Fun nonetheless. It's fun and informative, so give it a go.

I was really excited to attend the Ginger Bread Making Tour and even planned my entire day around it. English tour... I was given earpieces to listen but extremely poor quality sound systems. It was such a poor experience(they only working hard on the sales of thier gingerbread) which was deeply disappointing given how much I was looking forward it. Anyway just interesting for kids.

Very Good and Interactive muzeum from learning what gingerbreads are made from to making them yourself and them there is a chance to decorate your own gingerbread for an extra 8PLN that you can eat. There is 2 parts the medieval time and the early 20th century. When you are exploring Toruń it is certainly worth a visit. The show in English is at 2pm but in Polish it is every full hour.

We joined the 2pm English-synchronized tour and it was an overall great experience. I don't get those reviews that complain about the synchronisation. In our case, the guy that did the live translation added so much value. I guess humour is a matter of taste - but this was exactly my taste; give that man a raise! 😃 It was a very entertaining/interactive experience and the Polish language parts made the experience even more authentic to me.

Krzywa Wieża w Toruniu, also known as the Leaning Tower of Torun, is a prominent medieval defensive tower located on Pod Krzywa Wieza street in Toru, Poland. Built in the 13th century, this iconic landmark is famous for its significant tilt and is surrounded by legends. According to one legend, it was constructed as penance for a Teutonic Knight's forbidden love affair.

We observed the tower from the outside as it was on our list of recommended places from the Tourist Information Centre in the main city area. Its a fascinating building and great that the 'leaningness' has been controlled. Well worth popping by.
Andrew L — Google review
It was a interesting looking place with a cool history. But if you don't have a previous knowledge of the place and if you don't speak Polish, you might not get much out of it. There are displays inside that explain some examples of daily work of the people from that era. It's a little bit expensive for what you get but it's still an interesting little stop.
Bethany E — Google review
The tilt is most noticeable when you align it with the vertical church spire across the street. Local students have a tradition of trying to stand straight against its curve - most people lean about 7 degrees. The medieval brickwork shows where repairs used slightly different colored clay.

The Leaning Tower in Toruń is a medieval defensive Tower which owes its name to its considerable tilt. A legend says that the creation of the tower was connected with an offence of one of the Teutonic Knights from Toruń who, against the monastic rule, fell in love and dated a beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant. As penance for breaching the chastity vows, the knight was ordered to build a leaning tower as a symbol of his crooked ways and deviation from the strict , monastic rules.
