Wow! A must for any cognac lover. The virtual element on the tour is stunning in its effect. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I asked the cellar guys 'do you like your job, It was a genuine yes' And this shows in the pride they take in the product.

The visit to Hennessy was unforgettable! From the rich history to the exquisite tasting, and the warm staff, every detail was spot on. Our guide was fantastic, sharing insightful knowledge about the brand and its heritage. The atmosphere was welcoming, making it a truly enriching experience. If you're looking for a memorable experience, Hennessy is definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic afternoon out for our family (2 adults, 2 teenage girls). Took the English tour aimed at families and novices with Noe, who was an absolutely brilliant guide! Highly recommend and would like to go back and do the tour thats a bit longer.
Emma T — Google review
Fantastic tour. Very modern in every aspect. Including the VR tour which is more trippy that educational but fun. The tasting was very informative
Niall K — Google review
Wonderful tour of the Hennessy Cognac distillery and cellars with a fantastic tasting. We learned so much about cognac and the rich history of Hennessy. Our English speaking, 2-hour tour included a short boat ride across the Charente River, a virtual reality experience, a visit to their cellar, a tasting, and ended at their shop. The shop offered a wide selection of items including lots of small bottle sizes if you’re not checking luggage.
Sandra R — Google review
The “Hennessy Les Visites” experience was wonderful. Visiting both sides of the Charante via a small boat ride to immerse ourselves into the Hennessy world was brilliant. The Virtual Reality section - wow! The staff were wonderful and knowledgeable - particularly Romaine, who was our friendly guide. Highly recommended.
Paul R — Google review
I had such a wonderful time visiting Hennessy in Cognac. The tour was well done—informative without being overwhelming—and really gave a deeper appreciation for the history and artistry behind this world-famous brand. The tasting at the end was excellent, and it was a treat to enjoy such beautifully crafted cognac in the place where it all began. The whole experience felt smooth, engaging, and memorable. If you find yourself in Cognac, I highly recommend adding Hennessy to your plans—it’s a highlight of the region and such a unique way to connect with French culture.

Nestled in the charming town of Cognac, France, Martell Cognac's Visitors Center offers a captivating blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. As the oldest of the 'big four' Cognac distilleries, it provides an informative tour that delves into the distillery's history and production processes. Visitors can also enjoy a well-curated boutique showcasing a wide array of products and an elegant tasting area immersed in the ambiance of the store.
Amazing customer service: everyone was friendly and the tour was very informative. They also have an art gallery as well as the rooftop bar Indigo - would recommend visiting! The only suggestion is Martell needs to give little treats per person, not per group (how can we share 1 piece of chocolate?)
Sveta T — Google review
Did a tour. Tour was fine, mostly history since this isn’t the production site. A part of the tour was done in total darkness, which was really strange when we can’t even see the guide’s face. The wine tasting at the end of it was kinda sad. There was 11-15 of us and we all had to share only a few pieces of chocolate, 3 pieces of madelines, 3 pieces of macarons, and a few pieces of bread. It was so awkward when people on the table had to feel uncomfortable when they take a piece of food. Certainly not everyone gets to have that precious snack. For such an establishment they are really stingy with the experience.
C — Google review
The Martell Cognac Visitor Centre in France is a special and enriching experience. The guide was very informative, offering a detailed journey through the history of Cognac and the full production process from A to Z. The tasting at the end added a nice touch. However, one disappointing aspect to highlight: Only few pieces of sweets were provided for a group of 12 people. This felt super unfair, as not everyone had the chance to pair the sweets with the Cognac. For a brand of Martell’s reputation, more attention to such thimgs hould be considered. It remains a must-visit in Cognac. Enjoy!
Nahil K — Google review
It is wonderful tour to visit Martell She gave me a lot of knowledge to make Cognac. Merci
KL N — Google review
An interesting space with lots of history. The structure of the tour could use some refinement as we didn't always have all the information to understand what we were seeing.
Maren — Google review
Interesting historical context and education on the Cognac making process, made easy to understand. Our guide Holly was informative and friendly. The facility is impressive and well designed/curated.
Eoin R — Google review
Holly was a great tour guide for our little group yesterday. Very informative & made the tour very interesting. Would highly recommend
Lynn C — Google review
Great tour, detailed and interesting. Tasting session was also very good. Preferred this tour over the Hennessy one - this one is less commercialised in its approach. No 'hard sell' at the end .

The brand's headquarters provide tours that cover the entire cognac-making process, offering insights into the region and its significance. Visitors have the opportunity to taste their cognacs and even receive a souvenir glass.
I had an amazing time on the Rémy Martin tour in Cognac, France! The tour was incredibly informative, offering a deep dive into the history and craftsmanship behind cognac production. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate, and I left with a lot of new insights about the process and heritage of the region. The tasting at the end was a perfect way to wrap up the experience. Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in learning more about cognac!
Krystian M — Google review
The “anniversary visit” is a 1.5-hour marketing tour where you’re walked through their premises (eg I can watch an ad with Usher on my own) with a large group and no photos allowed 🙄 At the end, you get just a cocktail, and not even a tasting of their actual cognac. I would recommend Martell just 5 minutes away, they have much better explanatory tour and friendlier customer service.
Sveta T — Google review
Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and ready to answer all our questions. The tour was slick and the tasting at the end was great (nice cocktail). Not being a cognac drinker I found it an informative experience. A nice small group.
Fiona R — Google review
One of a kind experience. We took the private tour with the private lunch and it was absolutely lovely and beautiful. A very special experience with lots of history, love and great people.

Thomas was an excellent guide. He made the experience very fun, educational and unforgettable. We came for my brothers birthday, and had the best time! Thank you for an incredible experience Thomas, and the beautiful photos! My brother and I had a great time! :)

Our Opulence Tour was an incredible experience that far exceeded our expectations. Our host/guide, Romane, was passionate and extremely informative. Undoubtedly the highlight was XO pairings.

300 th anniversary tour in English. Covering the history of the distillery House, family and the Remy Martin brand name rather than the process of the cognac production . Lasted 1hr 45 mins.Interesting talk and tour broken up with a few films. Tasting of the VSOP and XO with salty and sweet accompaniment.

Chateau de la Roche Courbon is a grand 17th-century manor with a rich history and opulent interior. Originally a fortified castle, it was transformed into an elegant residence by Marquis Jean-Louis de Courbon. The chateau boasts remarkable gardens that have earned recognition for their beauty. Visitors can explore the exquisitely furnished interior and take guided tours to learn about its history.
A very beautiful castle with an interesting history linked to French literature as well as historic battles. It has the mist amazing hand-painted ceilings I've ever seen. Photos are not permitted inside this privately-owned château. The guided tour of the inside is recommended; the very lovely gardens are visited on one's own. Guided tour is in French with written information in several languages. We spent a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon here, including an ice cream at the food stall.
Jane T — Google review
Wonderful presentation by the guide. Small gardens border the wetlands. The interior is in impeccable shape. The shop had great souvenir deals. Worth every penny. Just an hour drive from La Rochelle.
Jerome B — Google review
A wonderful castle with a fantastic garden! If you are nearby, you really need to go here! They have guided tours, but not every day so check their website for more information!
Anastasi Z — Google review
A typical elegant French chateau with massive manicured grounds. We arrived in the rain and settled down to a comforting coffee in the cafe just outside the grounds, that we returned to for lunch. Unfortunately our coffee stop meant that we missed the morning chateau tour, so we started our exploration around the grounds, initially in the rain, however there were several indoor exhibitions about the history, including the prehistoric history of the the chateau and grounds. As the rain turned to dry and then sunshine we explored the wonderful expansive formal gardens. Plenty of photo opportunities. After a lunch break we returned for the afternoon chateau tour. Unfortunately no photos are allowed inside. The guided tour was undertaken by our guide in French, although there was a written your briefing in English, the guide went into a lot more detail than the briefing, probably the only negative we had. It was a lengthy and enjoyable tour. At 15€ for entry to the gardens sand tour or 12€ just for entry to the gardens we felt it was good value and we'll worth the trip.
Chris C — Google review
Wonderful Chateau, lovely house, gardens and a very welcome cafe. The caves are worth the walk too. Side of the car park is also an overnight Aire, no services but great if you travel in a motorhome, we stopped one night, very peaceful and quiet.
Eric K — Google review
Interesting gardens and grounds. Sadly not all the signs and exhibits had English translations which limited our understanding of some parts. Quite a contrast to UK historical gardens where it seems usual to try to revert back to an earlier historical layout (for example as designed by Capability Brown or a medieval underlying structure) the gardens here have continued to evolve quite dramatically as recent owners have different visions to the past. No cafe in October.
Sara L — Google review
Beautiful Chateau. Very friendly staff. Plenty to see and do both inside the Chateau and the grounds, don't miss the troglodyte caves. Lovely little cafe on site too for lunch or an icecream. Wasn't too busy that it felt crowded

Abbey to the Ladies of Saintes

Abbey
Sights & Landmarks
Abbey to the Ladies of Saintes is a special place where you can even book a stay in the rooms where nuns once slept. The breathtaking views and unique French experience make it an unforgettable destination. Stepping onto the grounds, you'll feel immersed in its rich history. Throughout the year, there are various events taking place, such as traditional folk dances dating back 500 years. The ancient sculptures and well-preserved architecture are definitely worth seeing.
This place is something very special! You can also make a reservation to stay at the Abbey where the nuns slept and the rooms are absolutely breathtaking, beautiful, have excellent views and is a uniquely French experience. The moment you step on the grounds here, you feel as if you are entering a space that has a long rich history. There is always something going on here year round. Probably the best time to visit the Abbaye to the Ladies of Saintes would be in the summer when the Saintes Music Festival is happening. I went there during summer and had the time of my life there and also in the spring. Even during the summer season I did not feel this place was crowded or distracting the serenity of the town. There is also a lot of great restaurants nearby and if you are lucky to stay long enough, there's an amazing farmers market outside withing a 5-10 minute walk where you'll find out sorts of hidden gems.

Don't normally like audio guides on self guided tours, this one's included in entry price & is essential to access the most interesting areas, also helps that the guides funny & informative.
Andrew H — Google review
Yesterday, 14/07/2019 a lot of people were dancing near Abbey. It was amazing, fantastic! 'Cause the dances were folk, old like 500 years ago.
Dina I — Google review
Make sure if you get an audio it is clearly explained. My audio battery ran out shortly after starting the tour. Being on a tight timeframe, I couldn't catch my wife and returned the audio and waited for my wife to finish the tour. Disappointingly, they were unwilling to provide a refund.

Arch of Germanicus

Mentioned on
8 lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Arch of Germanicus is a remarkable riverside structure in Saintes, dating back to around 18 AD. It predates the amphitheater and was originally dedicated to Emperor Tiberius, his son Drusus, and his nephew Germanicus. Although it resembles a triumphal arch, it was actually funded by a local citizen to honor the mentioned figures. The arch was relocated to its current position in 1843 after the original stone bridge it stood on was demolished.
The joy of visiting a new city in France. There are still Roman ruins. You can see Saint Peter's Cathedral of Saintes behind you. It's Easter time but you can hear a lot of motorcycle noise.
김TH — Google review
The four stars are for the town of Saintes where you will find the arch. Saintes is full of history and if you arrive by car, most sites of interest are within walking distance if you choose your parking spot carefully. We had an excellent lunch just along the river bank from the arch, followed by a pleasant walk along the riverside.
Paul M — Google review
You can stroll by the arches on a walk around the city, stopping by all the ancient sites, beautiful churches, the park, bakeries and more. I recommend make a big walking loop around the Abby, arch, churches and amphitheater! Then wander aimlessly snacking along the way.

Beautiful Roman Arch along the river. It’s a pity there’s not more on-site information on display about it’s history.

Les Arènes de Saintes

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
Amphithéâtre gallo-romain de Saintes is a remarkable ancient site dating back to 40 AD, during the reign of Emperor Claudius. With a seating capacity for up to 15,000 spectators, it hosted gladiator fights and battles with wild beasts. The lower tier of seating and some arches are still intact, allowing visitors to envision the grandeur of the past. Despite being overgrown, the shape and form of the amphitheatre are clearly visible.
Beautiful piece of history, a stunning place to visit and wonderful scenery all around.
James G — Google review
An amazing Roman arena tucked away in the suburbs of Saintes. You can walk all around the ruins, including into the arena itself. There are information sheets available in English at the ticket office. There is limited on site parking but this wasn't a problem when we visited.
Tim D — Google review
If you are visiting Saintes then would recommend making the effort to visit. There is some parking near the entrance but there is a public car park at the church near by but it’s a bit of a walk on a hot day and hilly. The facilities are very good.
Tweedie — Google review
A fascinating glimpse into Roman history! The amphitheatre is beautifully preserved, with plenty of space to wander. Peaceful surroundings and informative signs.
Geoff L — Google review
Well worth seeing. Can walk around the perimeter and look down on it without having to pay entry fee.
Craig K — Google review
Roman amphitheatre well worth a visit. Partly reconstructed, giving you a good sense of what it looked like.
Tillmann L — Google review
Well worth a look. Your 5 euro ticket also gets you into 3 other local museum's which I unfortunately did not have time to visit. They give you an interpretive sheet to help you understand what you're seeing. It gives you the chills to think you're standing where Agrippa once stood.
Cindy J — Google review
The Gallo-Roman amphitheatre of Saintes is an amazing remnant of our long ago past. We rented the audio guides (available in English and French) and spent a fascinating 45 minutes immersing ourselves in history and architecture. Don't miss the photo exhibition on the outer wall; just follow the green line around to the back of the Accueil building. It shows photos of all the phases of the amphitheatre for the last 200 or 300 years. There is an ingenious picnic table to enable someone in a wheelchair to pull up under the top and enjoy a meal at a table. Brilliant idea.

Room Escape Games
(Translated by Google) Very good experience in the “the disappearance of Rose” room. We had already visited the other 2 rooms on site and decided to return there when we learned that a new room had opened. The context of the castle makes the escape game all the more immersive. As soon as we met, the facilitator immersed us in the context of the puzzle to be solved. The anthropology environment was perfectly suited. Good dose of digging, puzzles to complete, surprises. We had a great time as a family (2 adults and 2 teenagers) and succeeded in the mission given at the last minute. Le Château des Enigmes is a must-visit attraction located in the charming towns of Saint Pierre, Saint Denis, and Le Chateau. The area also boasts two picturesque forests, the Forest of Saint-Trojan and the Saumonard Forest, offering sheltered beaches ideal for families with young children. Visitors can explore oyster farms which are a major tourist draw on the island. The castle itself is stunning and surrounded by beautiful gardens.
This was really fun! As a family of 4 (two boys 7+9) really enjoyed it. We took a picnic and spend a good 4 hours there! The boys got a pirate diploma at the end.
Milou L — Google review
Really enjoyed this. We went on a Saturday, transferring between two holiday camps. It’s basically a 30-stage pirate themed treasure hunt, set in a small but very pretty castle and its garden. The puzzles are really varied, from obstacle course challenges to problems to solve. We did it with 2x adults, 2x 6 yr olds and 1x8 yr old. Some bits were too hard for the 6 yr olds, but not too frustrating with some parental help. Most of it is well translated, but there’s the odd bit where there’s no translation or it’s done a bit strangely. Didn’t spoil it and I think there’s an app which would help, but I prefer to put my phone away for stuff like this. The staff were really helpful and we had a very jolly 3-4 hours there, including our picnic. There’s a snack bar with drinks/ice cream, a bit of food and coffee from a MaxPax type machine. That suited us fine as we’d bought a picnic and there are tons of nice shady picnic benches. Most of the treasure hunt is in shady outdoor areas, so it’s a pretty smart option on a hot day. You’re not just roasting in the sun as you would be visiting many attractions. Overall, would recommend. Maybe a bit expensive at €70 for 5 of us, but that just seems to be how much things cost.
Brand N — Google review
Fantastic children's treasure hunt in french and English. Be aware the 27 clues are spaced over a couple of miles of woodland walks which are delightful. Lovely shady walkways through mature woods ending up at the house. The clues can be tricky too, so not a complete walk over either. Best treasure hunt we have been on, here or UK. Staff delightful Only 4 stars as the food available is limited to panini...crepes...ice cream at a single place but your kids will sleep well afterwards. Well worth a trip
James T — Google review
Very beautiful chateau, but you have limited access to the interior. Signs are in English as well as French. Fun activity for all to do the treasure hunt for clues. You receive a certificate at the end.

My experience here was not one of the best. In the complex I had a nice day of fun and relax, but the structure needs to be revisited. First of all, we bought a ticket with access to the two areas but once inside nobody was checking and anyone could have access to both areas, Many points need to be cleaned because there is mold, And lastly, we didn't even have the time to take a last shower since the workers at 6:30 precise were just pushing us out while we were changing.
Francesco B — Google review
What a huge disappointment. I lost my bathing suit and expected a great boutique. They had one size and blamed it on a late delivery of an order, having driven a long way, cat and dog in a camping car I negotiated 7.50e for just a shower. They wouldn’t allow me to even dry my hair downstairs. Sharp screws sticking out in the disabled shower, cubicles and sink area filthy, it was worse than some dirty old council pool. Excuses for a busy day when I asked if there’s no cleaner. Being a retired swim teacher I’ve worked in some nasty establishments, this was an absolute disappointment, the pool I can’t talk about but clearly over priced needs à refurb, à clean and a safety check
Fiona — Google review
Very expensive for what's offered. Certain facilities were out of order. Competitive prices in comparison to Euro Disney, except for the awesome attraction rides.

Loved the place, clean, friendly staff, the water is warm and it is safe for the little ones. The only negative thing I found was that there was not enough food available, the restaurant was all reserved and the sandwich place only had a few sandwiches left but nothing small for children except sweets. I highly recommend and would go again.

The Museum Gallo-Roman site of Fa, located in Barzan at the end of the Arvert peninsula, offers a fascinating insight into the flourishing economy of a Gallo-Roman town. Visitors can explore the impressive ruins and gain an understanding of life during that time through various activities offered during the summer. Ongoing excavations contribute to the evolving nature of this site.
A very interesting museum with well-labelled artefacts. The receptionist was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. I was provided with a site booklet in English which explained a great deal about the site, it's inhabitants and environs. It was a pity the herb garden was so overgrown but hardly surprising with the weather we've been having recently. A couple of hours well spent under glorious sunshine. Some very informative leaflets are available for other nearby attractions.

Interesting site and excavation site of some buildings in an old Roman town. Gladiator fights, talks about Roman times and so on. Very educational. Dogs not welcome. Everything is in French. Cheap to visit.
Pia K — Google review
We visited here as part of an organised outing on behalf of the Caravan Club in association with camping Logis du Bruil. The visit was very interesting as much was explained to us by an English speaking guide, who was clearly an archaeologist as he had a passion for the subject. Not an expensive visit either👍
Eric D — Google review
A great start, but a few improvements required. Pretty cheap for a family of 4. A bit tricky for those who don't speak great French. The pdf supplied doesn't match the information boards as you go along, so you rely on Google translate to understand the more complex explanations. Is also really hard to tell what is original, and what had been replaced. Clearer explanations would be good. The museum at the end was small but well laid out and interesting. Certainly worth doing to kill a few hours.

Great place for a bit of canoeing, deceptive because you can't see the little River at the rest of the lake, takes about 1.25hrs, just be aware that they charge per hour, but we thought it was value for money, and yes we will return. So allow 1hr 15mins which costs €30 per canoe Here we are again August 2024, the canoeing just as much fun but now there is a little snack bar with good prices by the lake where you watch the world go by. Helpful smiling staff, what a lovely way of spending a couple of hours, and yes we will return again.

Great value wine tour and tasting! I visited in September with some of my friends. For 6 euros, we were given a tour of the grounds and vineyards and a tasting of several wines. Was a good night out, lots going on good food and service. My only criticism would be the comedian acting disabled / shy, it came over to me as making fun of people with disabilities, although I’m sure this wasn’t the intention. Wonderful experience! Very informative but casual tour by the husband and wife who own the vineyard. We popped in without an appointment and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Bought a case of wine to ship to the states. 5/5 would recommend.

We visited Chateau Laniote in April 2025 having searched for a St Emilion vineyard that is dog friendly. We arrived a little early but received a very warm welcome to wait in the grounds. As did Rudi our dog! Arnaud is a spectacularly warm and funny host who punctuated our visit with pranks, jokes and magic tricks. His approach complimented his vast personal knowledge, his passion for the wine he and his family produce and his pride in his long-standing St Emilion family heritage. The wines we tasted during the visit were so delicious that we couldn't leave without buying a couple of bottles, A little pricey, but you pay for the experience. We'll remember our visit with great fondness when we finally savour them on a special occasion. Arnaud makes what could be a very 'stuffy' experience truly accessible and so enjoyable. Merci Arnaud!

Kathryn — Google review
You actually need to go here. They respond quickly to email, it's simple & they're very accommodating. It was honestly by FAR the best wine I had in St. Emilion & I went to 3 other places that day... Arnaud is so sweet & funny & has a few magic tricks up his sleeve for you when you visit. Not necessary, the wine he makes with his wife is superb. The only bottle I bought that day & from a "bad year" no less. It was fruity & full bodies & didn't have a lot of acid like all the others I had tried. They know what they're doing there. I was just one person so he only opened the one vintage but I'm sure if you had a larger group/requested in advance, he'd open another vintage.

Chanced upon this winery and absolutely loved it. Arnaud and his wife runs a lovely winery, the tour was the right length which gave us an appreciation of the process without being boring. The wine was fantastic and I got a bottle. The tour was whimsical, due to Arnauds magic tricks and his passion for wine. He answers questions earnestly without making me feel silly for asking. The liquor store Les Cordeliers offers a wide variety of wines including local sparkling wine Crémant de Bordeaux. The quaint garden setting is perfect for relaxing while enjoying your drink. Inside the walls of Saint-Émilion, Les Cordeliers has been producing sparkling wine for over 100 years.
What a great place to have a picnic. We had a fantastic experience sitting in the garden terrace splitting a bottle of their best bubbly.
John A — Google review
Beautiful setting, but the experience doesn’t quite live up to the price We visited Cloître des Cordeliers in Saint-Émilion with high hopes, but overall the experience was a bit underwhelming. The tuk-tuk tour felt quite overpriced — €30 per adult and €25 per child — especially considering that you don’t actually enter any vineyards, just see them from the road. The guide provided only very basic information, both during the ride and at the short wine tasting afterwards. That said, the cloister garden itself is lovely — peaceful and well maintained — and the outdoor café is a nice spot to relax. You can pick up some simple food like pâté, bread, and a glass or a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed, although the service was quite slow and we didn’t exactly feel welcomed as customers. The gift shop was a bit confusing, with a mix of toys and random non-wine-related items, which didn’t really fit the setting. In short, it’s a pretty place to visit, but the overall experience felt a bit disjointed and overpriced for what you get.
Irina B — Google review
Here’s the deal. There is coffee stand just inside the gate, and they may be the only place in town with vegan food. They have a large selection of “spreads” which they sell in small glass jars for a picnic there or to go. Not the best value but certainly homemade and tasty and plant based. They were open on Sunday afternoon when we visited.
Shawn B — Google review
An unforgettable experience at the Cloître des Cordeliers! The tour was absolutely fantastic, led by the brilliant Ophélie, a truly charming and passionate guide who’s a superb ambassador for Saint-Émilion. She brought the history and stories of the cloister to life with such enthusiasm and warmth. The tuk-tuk vineyard tour was a real highlight, informative, fun, and a great way to get a sense of the scale and beauty of the surrounding wine country. The visit to the labyrinthine underground caves was equally impressive, and the wine tasting at the end was a perfect way to round off the experience. Highly recommended! A must-do in Saint-Émilion!

The Monolithic Church of Saint-Emilion is an underground church carved from limestone, with a towering 68-meter bell tower. It dates back to the 12th century and is said to be made from a single stone. The majority of the church is located underground, and visitors can explore it on official tours organized by the Office of Tourism. The village was named after Emilion, an 8th-century hermit who established a religious community there.
Beautiful and well preserved. Love all the history and still the roman wall. Built on eachother. Love the streets and the wine.

Amazing history and architecture! This little town was established around 800AD. Every road is cobblestone so wear flat shoes with good grip. Try to see everything in this area. This is one of the oldest wine growing regions in the world.

This is an absolutely wonderful piece of medieval architecture, and a real glimpse into the life of a hermit and his followers. The tour is wonderful and takes you on a journey from the small cave in which St Emilion to the mic. Church carved out of the rock by his followers and the devout. No photographs are allowed, but they’re plenty online. This is a fantastic tour and a must if you are going to st Emilion

Best thing to do/see in town + not a rip off (unlike most things in saint emilion) You get given a key from the information desk and sent on your way. They only let a few people in at a time (around 6) so it’s not crowded at all! Make sure to go up the tower when you’re visiting!
Hattie C — Google review
I recommend getting the guided tour, it is worthwhile if you are in Saint-Emilion. Guide is available in many languages and goes through 4 different sections. The underground part is quite the spectacle. The workers were helpful and very knowledgeable on the church.

We had an excellent and atmospheric tour here with a very knowledgeable and welcoming host. The building is beautiful and there has clearly been a lot of work put into the your experience - it is a modern tour with a video presentation, but not too cheesy. The paired tasting at the end was also excellent. One of the better vineyard tours we did in the area.

Great location, super nice staff. The best wine is their 2016 red. It’s so unique. They also have now a white wine (2024), which is also very smooth and light. Highly recommended; especially on a rainy Sunday like today. Enjoy!

I really recommmend this wine tasting. The guide was fantastic and knows deeply all the tips and secrets of the wines in this region. We understand better many whys we had in our minds in wine matters. They adapted our time from our mistake, showing flexibility and empathy. My only suggestion is that they could offer more items in their shop. We bought 6 good bottles and happy with our purchase. Highly recommend this wine tasting.

Interactive visit of this beautiful chateau in their cellar, so informative. (Second room lacks of lights though, little too dark) Marine was a great warm host, informative and knowledgeable. Really nice looking tasting room with different spaces and perfect lighting in their table to observe the wines. (In summer they offer you to taste the different cépages/ grape varieties) Totally recommend the visit and tasting at this Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel

Clara was an amazing tour guide!! After guiding my family through the vineyards, introducing us the grapes and the wine making process, she did a very didactic explanation that enhanced our tasting. Thanks a lot Clara! We had a lot of fun and learned with all your guidance.

We had such a beautiful tour here with Camille. It was about an hour and included a tour of the property and a tasting of 3 different vintages of their main wine. It was super educational and Camille answered all of our questions in great detail. The tour also has several clever and well done immersive video moments. I really recommend this beautiful chateau, it’s excellent guides and the lovely wines!

We had an amazing time at this chateau. My husband, my son and his girlfriend have been to vineyards before but never like this. The tour included the chateau history, the vineyard, grape tasting, tour of the wine making process, the barrels, wine tasting, and a spectacular picnic lunch outside in the yard of the chateau. I can’t say enough good things about this tour and vineyard. You need to take a visit! Clara is a fabulous guide, thank you for a wonderful afternoon!

So glad we booked this. We booked a tour and tasting of an hour via Rue des Vignerons website. Very beautifull chateau and Clara was very kind and explained everything perfectly! We brought our kids of 3 and 5 and this was absolute no problem. They offered them also grape juice and they could colour while we did the tasting. Would recommend!

Château Cantenac is a family-owned property in Bordeaux that offers tours and tastings of its grand cru wines. Visitors can explore the vineyards and learn about the wine production process, from grape to glass. The tour includes a tasting session where guests can sample traditional and newer wines while learning about the winery's history. The knowledgeable guides provide insights into winemaking techniques and the estate's management, making for an educational and enjoyable experience.
Today we had the pleasure of visiting Château Cantenac – and it was hands down the best experience of our trip! On the same day, we also visited a very renowned château, but it didn’t even come close to the wonderful experience AJ gave us at this beautiful family-run estate. The tour was supposed to last 1.5 hours, but thanks to all our questions and AJ’s fascinating stories, we ended up spending a bit over three unforgettable hours there. AJ isn’t just a trained winemaker who knows every step of the process inside out – she also brings incredible passion and warmth that make the visit truly special. We can’t recommend a visit to Château Cantenac highly enough!

We had a lovely visit with AJ. She explained the family history of the vineyard, the grapes, the wine making process and of course the best part the tasting. We purchase 1 type of the wine in Canada therefore it was great to visit this vineyard and get an understanding of the process.
Judy B — Google review
I found A.J. and Château Cantenac with a Google search. The website was easy to navigate. I emailed A.J. to see if we could visit this small family winery. She responded quickly and answered all of my questions. We had limited time, and it was easy to set up an appointment for a tour and tasting. We enjoyed our time with A.J. at Château Cantenac very much. We learned so much, and it was nice to be at a family winery. It is beautiful. She also modified our tasting because my son wanted to taste first and tour second because he was driving. We enjoyed the tasting and left with a bottle to remember the experience. Along with this winery, the town of Saint Emillion is a beautiful area and a must-see. I would certainly recommend Château Cantenac!!
Mary B — Google review
On our recent trip to France we spent a few days in the Saint-Emilion area where we decided to do a special tasting at Chateau Cantenac. Our host AJ was very informative; giving us the story and history of the property as well as explaining the historic wine classification system of the region. It was a very informative visit including a walk into the vineyard and then an intimate tour of the winery and barrel hall. The tour ended with a serious red wine tasting in the beautiful Chateau. There were many options available in Saint- Emilion for winery visits and we chose a perfect location. A very personable experience. Thanks again AJ.
Jeffrey B — Google review
This has perhaps been the best wine tasting I have ever been to thanks to AJ, one of the family members who guided us through our tasting. She was absolutely fantastic and not only told us a lot about the „enchanted“ Chateau Cantenac but also about the family (4th generation) and winemaking in general. I learned so much and she was so patient with all our questions. The tasting included 3 red wines for 9€. Personally, I am not a huge fan of red wines but I enjoyed all 3 of them. We left with a variety of 8 bottles😁
Sabine K — Google review
One of the best wine tastings we ever had. Not only we got to try these amazing wines, but we got to hear all about the wine making and specially the family's passion and dedication.
Jose C — Google review
We visited Château Cantenac as a large group in the week leading up to our wedding in France. AJ was extremely helpful and accommodating when booking the experience, answering any questions we had quickly and thoroughly. Then when the day came, she gave us a fantastic experience - giving us a history of their family-owned château and a tour of the 19th-Century vineyard and winery, providing a great insight into how the grapes are grown, the wine is produced and all the hard work that goes into it. Once the tour had finished, she expertly talked us through a lovely wine tasting, where we tried 3 different reds and a rosé. It was a great day out and we'd thoroughly recommend visiting Château Cantenac if you're looking for a winery tour and wine tasting experience.

Cultural center
Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Extremely well done - highly informative and interactive, incorporating all of the senses! You can learn as little or as much as you'd like, but one can easily spend a few hours here. The tasting (with 13 different wines from which to choose) on the top floor with beautiful views was icing on the cake on a beautiful summer's day. There is non-alcoholic options as well! Very well air-conditioned, so going in the heat of the afternoon during the heat dome was a huge relief as well! This is a must-visit while in Bordeaux, even if you don't like wine.

Hard to fault this place. I visited around 6 years ago and it’s only got better. A comprehensive tale of world wine history. A good tasting on the 8th floor featuring international wines. I tried a Swiss wine that was new to me. There are lockers to hold bags as you wander. Excellent easy to use audio guide. A good Bodega. Prices are not crazy they cater for all tastes.

La Cité du Vin is an absolute must-visit in Bordeaux — more than a museum, it’s a full sensory journey into the world of wine. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, combining history, culture, and tasting experiences in a modern, engaging way. You can easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. The architecture itself is stunning, with its flowing, glassy curves reflecting the Garonne. Don’t miss the panoramic tasting room at the top — the view is spectacular. A brilliant tribute to wine culture, innovation, and pleasure.

LOVED this amazing museum!! It had the most immersive experience including aroma generator technology that I did not know existed. You can smell the aromas of a myriad of scents that are produced from wines, cognac, liquors, and champagne. And the production, service, and industry is covered at great detail. Fun for everyone of all ages. And the ticket provides for two samples on the 8th floor with spectacular views! The restaurant food is excellent, with both vegetarian and meat, seafood offerings. The desserts are amazing! Love the model and the story behind this innovative museum created from a competition around 2010.
Shafi K — Google review
Cité du Vin wine museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and culture of winemaking. The exhibits are well-curated, blending tradition with interactive displays. It’s the perfect place for wine enthusiast. After the exhibits, you can go to the 8th floor to enjoy a panoramic view of the Garonne river in Bordeaux while tasting your favourite wine.

Highly recommended to visit! They share wine knowledge in a fun and interactive way. You can easily spend 2–3 hours there without even noticing the time. A super interesting place if you love wine! We went on a Monday, and it was still fairly busy. Probably best to avoid weekends!
HYE S — Google review
It's a highly informative and beautifully interactive museum. Make sure to try the wine tasting on the top floor—the view is beautiful, but the wines are average. If you have two days or more in Bordeaux, this place is definitely a must-visit.

Whether you are a wine drinker or not. This is by far one of the most interactive museums you could go to. Well priced and super modern. It has Something for everyone. Plus the tickets can come with wine for before or after visit, this area showcases great views of the city. The wine shop they have is also a big plus. Some fantastic local and imported wines.

The Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas is a modern concrete and steel bridge that was opened in 2013. It features a unique design with a deck that remains parallel as it lifts to allow passing ships. The bridge is part of a loop that takes visitors from the historic facades of the 18th century to the most modern facilities in the city, including the City of Wine.

An amazing "drawbridge" that the whole middle section of the bridge goes up and down when ships come into port. Very cool experience to see the bridge rise and fall before and after the ship has translated.

Great for an evening run or bike. This is europes the longest span vertical lift bridge. We were lucky to see the vertical lift during our stay in Bordeaux. There was a cruise « seven seas voyager » and we caught this during the cruises departure from Bordeaux. Also you can get a good look at this bridge while taking a river cruise.
Sandeep C — Google review
The Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux is a marvel of engineering. As the tallest vertical-lift bridge in Europe, it gracefully lifts its central span to accommodate maritime traffic on the Garonne River. The lifting mechanism, resembling a harmonious ballet, allows large vessels to pass beneath, showcasing a seamless blend of functionality and architectural elegance. Observing the Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas in action is a testament to human ingenuity and enhances the overall allure of Bordeaux's waterfront.
Anne F — Google review
Impressing architecture of a bridge (surely built to let cruise liners pass). For pedestrians there are some spaces to sit and take photos of the pylons or the view from the bridge. Offeres nice views to Cite du Vin, to Pont d'Aquitaine, and to the city of Bordeaux. Reachable by tramway or by walk along the river Garonne. Walking along the riverside vis-à-vis Bordeaux city centre leads you through former harbour areas that have been turned into parks and leisure areas (including the Botanical Garden).

This bridge is HUGE! I was wondering what those four pillars are while I was still far away but then realized that its a bridge. I've yet to see this one in action like when theres a boat crossing and the bridge will lift 'the road. There is also a possibility to go up. However, I think you need special permit for that. There were a few people- I think its their field trip, that went to the top. I tried to go with them but was not allowed to.

Located in Bordeaux, the Miroir d'eau is a large shallow reflecting pool built in 2006 near Place de la Bourse. Covering an area of 3450 square meters, it is one of the world's largest reflecting pools and offers stunning views of the surrounding architecture. The water's surface acts as a mirror, creating beautiful visual effects and making it a popular spot for photography.
A brilliant idea in combining a modern structure with the old buildings on the other side of the square. When there is no wind, the buildings are reflected in the water. It is very beautiful, as are the blooming gardens along the embankment. A wonderful space for walking!
Olga I — Google review
Fascinating creation right next to the river. You can see a clear reflection of people and buildings, if it is not too windy. They have two different exhibitions, a mist spray followed by about 2cm deep of water coming up from the bottom.
Michael R — Google review
The Miroir d'eau is just a playground with sprinkles. It is right next to the promenade at the river and across the street from the Place de la Bourse, not in front it, as appearing in the touristic brochures. The thin layer of water creates a reflective surface for the sky or Place de la Bourse buildings across the street. Popular water playground with children and to sit around to cool down in the warmer months or as a gorgeous, instagramable setting for pictures during the day or at night.
Gergana — Google review
An interesting location and use of water in a public space. Unfortunately the day we were in Bordeaux it was windy. The evening was calmer and allowed for some good reflections.

The Pont de Pierre, also known as the Stone Bridge, is an elegant and historic bridge in Bordeaux. Commissioned by Napoleon, it features 17 spans that gracefully cross the River Garonne. This early 19th-century bridge has become a pedestrian-friendly destination since 2017, offering visitors a serene escape from the city center. A leisurely walk across the Pont de Pierre provides stunning skyline views of Bordeaux over the river, especially enchanting after dark.
Worth to see that water is yellow in Garrona. Nice place for taking a walk and/or run. Not too crowded by cars. Mainly public traffic and a lot of tourist. Good place to take a nice picture of Bordeaux river side.

This is one of Bordeaux’s most historic landmarks commissioned by Napoleon and finished after his death. It is beautiful day or night and lovely to walk across as the tide rushes in or out. The 17 arches are for the the letters in Napoleon’s full name. It’s popular with runners because the traffic is limited.

This bridge caught my attention while i was walking near the river. It looked really nice. Its a long walk but i get to enjoy the view and the people who were there as well. You can also see the current's strength of the river and it looks very scary. Viewed from a distance, the autumn leaves adds more beauty especially if seen from an angle.

When visiting Bordeaux, one of the must-see spots is the Place de la Bourse. This iconic 18th-century city square is surrounded by elegant architecture and features a grand fountain at its center. The Palais de la Bourse, with its Neoclassical-style facade adorned with columns and sculptures, is a notable building to explore.
Kind an artificial pool with bunch of kids running around. Unusual and nice place - at least to see and experience this. When it gets quieter you can make amazing photos with buildings around and this part of flat water pool. Results are amazing

The 'water mirror' opposite of the bourse buildings is awesome! Such an excellent idea! This artist may get followers and copy cats all over the globe. The water is refreshing, makes the public happy and relaxed, allows kids to enjoy a city visit and provides poor citizens with a place where they can mingle with everyone else in a relaxed way. It also gives enough water for great flowers and the gardens/park pieces next to the water mirror. And, when quiet, the reflection doubles the grandeur of the bourse buildings. Best place of Bordeaux in my opinion.
Christy D — Google review
I visited Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux at night and it was a wonderful experience. The whole area looked magical with the lights reflecting on the beautiful old buildings and the famous water mirror. The fountain and lighting together created a peaceful and charming atmosphere. I spent a few hours just walking around, watching the reflections, and enjoying the calm breeze from the river. The place was lively yet serene — people relaxing, children playing, and tourists taking photos. It’s one of those spots where you can simply sit and take in the beauty of the city. If you are in Bordeaux, an evening visit to Place de la Bourse is a must. It truly captures the heart and elegance of the city.

Nestled just a short 40-minute drive away, the PréhistoSite de Brassempouy offers an engaging outdoor park and museum dedicated to prehistoric life. Families can spend a delightful afternoon exploring hands-on activities like necklace carving, spear throwing, and fire-making—all included in the admission price. The site also features an informative museum showcasing fascinating artifacts, including a replica of the earliest known carved human figure—a tiny female figurine that sparks curiosity about our ancient ancestors.
We spent the entire day on site with our 5 years old son. We took the 3 activities package which are worth it. If you don’t take any activities, you won’t have much to do there. The staff was really knowledgeable and helpful. If you go there on aMonday, the cafe on site is closed but there is a farm 1 km away where you can have a great lunch.
