Met by Marisse on arrival. Enjoyed a taste of the wines of the château. Wines expertly explained. Dinner box booked to be delivered to campervan at 19.00. Meet and greet with fellow travellers at 17.30 and a few tasters. Dinner arrived, and it was fantastic. Starter, main, and dessert. Nice to stay on a working vineyard. Short walk into the local town, which has the most amazing citadel, can not be missed.
Tom P — Google review
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. My partner and I booked a winemaker's lunch at the Chateau. Entries, mains and diserts were cooked perfectly with big portion. All the matching wine was so good as well. All staff were so friendly and the owner of Chateau even offered to give us a ride back to the bus station because the weather was so wet.
Ping Z — Google review
A beautiful place to visit and stay overnight in a motorhome. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming, a couple of whom speak English. It cost me €10 for the night and there was a free wine tasting at 17h30 which was great fun.
Nigel B — Google review
Thank you for a great visit. Stayed overnight in our camping car. Lovely quiet location with shade, and we really enjoyed the " tasting apero" followed by delicious dinner delivered to our van. Highly recommended!
Pat E — Google review
This is a Beautiful place, just behind the citadel which was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 2008. We visited in Aug 19, in our Motorhome, this place offers the chance for those in self contained motorhomes (ie: ones with onboard water and waste tanks, toilet and shower facility's) to stay up to 48hrs (it used to be free but I think it's 10euro now), and allow you to stop in numerous places around the grounds, including in amongst the vines, truly a lovely place to enjoy some lovely wine while watching the sun set behind the vines, and don't miss the evening wine tasting. A beautiful old building and only a 10min walk from the town.
Stephen D — Google review
An absolutely wonderful chateau and vineyard to visit. We stayed for 2 nights in our campervan for free in a beautiful setting in the chateau grounds. We had a very warm welcome, with a delicious aperitif at 5.30 and explanation of the vineyard by the owner. Unfortunately our French isn't good enough to understand, but we booked a tour and tasting for the next day in English. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable, and the wines delicious. We came away with some purchases to take home, but there was no pressure to do so. Thank you so much for providing this amazing opportunity to visit on our tour of France.
Liz C — Google review
The surroundings are very pleasant and peaceful. Nice shady parking for motorhomes and campervans. Electric close by. The staff are nice and knowledgeable. The gastronomic meals are very big but delicious. The wine is good. The toilets are locked up about 7pm and there are no showers. Toilets reopen about 9am. The grass definitely needs mowing.
Allyson B — Google review
This place is amazing for camping cars. It's free for 48 hours and included is electric, fresh water and somewhere to dump your waste. Also everyday at 5.30 pm the bus takes you to the castle where you get a free glass of wine, bread and pate. Then you get a bag of brochures and maps of the local area. Fantastic welcome and have really enjoyed our stay.

We used the ferry today to cross the Garonne. The ferry was on time and the trip took about 20 minutes. It was €21 for our car, caravan and 1 passenger. Inside seats. Toilets. Quick and easy.
Julia — Google review
It’s one of the slowest boardings I have ever experienced, but it’s also that way because of how the boat is designed to be boarded. Anyway, staff is friendly and the boatride is nice. Price is high and there aren’t many trips, so make sure to arrive on time!
Albrecht C — Google review
Very interesting how the ferry boat fight with the strong current of Gironde delta.🚢. And interesting is also, that the ferry opens sidewise to let cars and people out.

Useful way of crossing into wine country from North-West France without routing through Bordeaux. Good restaurant on site, also public toilets. Some shade if you are waiting for a ferry.

We had an excellent and atmospheric tour here with a very knowledgeable and welcoming host. The building is beautiful and there has clearly been a lot of work put into the your experience - it is a modern tour with a video presentation, but not too cheesy. The paired tasting at the end was also excellent. One of the better vineyard tours we did in the area.
James H — Google review
Great location, super nice staff. The best wine is their 2016 red. It’s so unique. They also have now a white wine (2024), which is also very smooth and light. Highly recommended; especially on a rainy Sunday like today. Enjoy!
Katja S — Google review
I really recommmend this wine tasting. The guide was fantastic and knows deeply all the tips and secrets of the wines in this region. We understand better many whys we had in our minds in wine matters. They adapted our time from our mistake, showing flexibility and empathy. My only suggestion is that they could offer more items in their shop. We bought 6 good bottles and happy with our purchase. Highly recommend this wine tasting.
Thiers — Google review
Interactive visit of this beautiful chateau in their cellar, so informative. (Second room lacks of lights though, little too dark) Marine was a great warm host, informative and knowledgeable. Really nice looking tasting room with different spaces and perfect lighting in their table to observe the wines. (In summer they offer you to taste the different cépages/ grape varieties) Totally recommend the visit and tasting at this Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel
Laëtitia D — Google review
Clara was an amazing tour guide!! After guiding my family through the vineyards, introducing us the grapes and the wine making process, she did a very didactic explanation that enhanced our tasting. Thanks a lot Clara! We had a lot of fun and learned with all your guidance.
Cristina H — Google review
We had such a beautiful tour here with Camille. It was about an hour and included a tour of the property and a tasting of 3 different vintages of their main wine. It was super educational and Camille answered all of our questions in great detail. The tour also has several clever and well done immersive video moments. I really recommend this beautiful chateau, it’s excellent guides and the lovely wines!
Farah M — Google review
We had an amazing time at this chateau. My husband, my son and his girlfriend have been to vineyards before but never like this. The tour included the chateau history, the vineyard, grape tasting, tour of the wine making process, the barrels, wine tasting, and a spectacular picnic lunch outside in the yard of the chateau. I can’t say enough good things about this tour and vineyard. You need to take a visit! Clara is a fabulous guide, thank you for a wonderful afternoon!
Lisa C — Google review
So glad we booked this. We booked a tour and tasting of an hour via Rue des Vignerons website. Very beautifull chateau and Clara was very kind and explained everything perfectly! We brought our kids of 3 and 5 and this was absolute no problem. They offered them also grape juice and they could colour while we did the tasting. Would recommend!

Cité du Vin is a cutting-edge wine museum housed in a striking curved aluminum and glass structure in Bordeaux. It offers interactive displays, guided tours, and tastings to educate visitors about the history and production of wine globally. The museum's modern design reflects the swirling motion of both the adjacent Garonne River and wine in a glass. With themed routes and multimedia exhibits, it explores wine's impact on history, geography, culture, and civilization.
Extremely well done - highly informative and interactive, incorporating all of the senses! You can learn as little or as much as you'd like, but one can easily spend a few hours here. The tasting (with 13 different wines from which to choose) on the top floor with beautiful views was icing on the cake on a beautiful summer's day. There is non-alcoholic options as well! Very well air-conditioned, so going in the heat of the afternoon during the heat dome was a huge relief as well! This is a must-visit while in Bordeaux, even if you don't like wine.
E H — Google review
Hard to fault this place. I visited around 6 years ago and it’s only got better. A comprehensive tale of world wine history. A good tasting on the 8th floor featuring international wines. I tried a Swiss wine that was new to me. There are lockers to hold bags as you wander. Excellent easy to use audio guide. A good Bodega. Prices are not crazy they cater for all tastes.
Craig T — Google review
La Cité du Vin is an absolute must-visit in Bordeaux — more than a museum, it’s a full sensory journey into the world of wine. The interactive exhibits are beautifully designed, combining history, culture, and tasting experiences in a modern, engaging way. You can easily spend hours exploring and still discover something new. The architecture itself is stunning, with its flowing, glassy curves reflecting the Garonne. Don’t miss the panoramic tasting room at the top — the view is spectacular. A brilliant tribute to wine culture, innovation, and pleasure.
Natalia B — Google review
LOVED this amazing museum!! It had the most immersive experience including aroma generator technology that I did not know existed. You can smell the aromas of a myriad of scents that are produced from wines, cognac, liquors, and champagne. And the production, service, and industry is covered at great detail. Fun for everyone of all ages. And the ticket provides for two samples on the 8th floor with spectacular views! The restaurant food is excellent, with both vegetarian and meat, seafood offerings. The desserts are amazing! Love the model and the story behind this innovative museum created from a competition around 2010.
Shafi K — Google review
Cité du Vin wine museum offers a fascinating journey through the history and culture of winemaking. The exhibits are well-curated, blending tradition with interactive displays. It’s the perfect place for wine enthusiast. After the exhibits, you can go to the 8th floor to enjoy a panoramic view of the Garonne river in Bordeaux while tasting your favourite wine.
Yash V — Google review
Highly recommended to visit! They share wine knowledge in a fun and interactive way. You can easily spend 2–3 hours there without even noticing the time. A super interesting place if you love wine! We went on a Monday, and it was still fairly busy. Probably best to avoid weekends!
HYE S — Google review
This museum is definitely worth visiting. They have tastings, beautiful views, and the ability for you to use all of your senses and learned so much about Wine! I highly recommend going if you are interested at all in Wine. Children can even join in the tasting since they offer sodas instead of wine.
Jessica Z — Google review
Whether you are a wine drinker or not. This is by far one of the most interactive museums you could go to. Well priced and super modern. It has Something for everyone. Plus the tickets can come with wine for before or after visit, this area showcases great views of the city. The wine shop they have is also a big plus. Some fantastic local and imported wines.

The Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas is a modern concrete and steel bridge that was opened in 2013. It features a unique design with a deck that remains parallel as it lifts to allow passing ships. The bridge is part of a loop that takes visitors from the historic facades of the 18th century to the most modern facilities in the city, including the City of Wine.
One of magnificent bridge in Bordeaux, amazing!!
Ananthu D — Google review
An amazing "drawbridge" that the whole middle section of the bridge goes up and down when ships come into port. Very cool experience to see the bridge rise and fall before and after the ship has translated.
C N — Google review
Great for an evening run or bike. This is europes the longest span vertical lift bridge. We were lucky to see the vertical lift during our stay in Bordeaux. There was a cruise « seven seas voyager » and we caught this during the cruises departure from Bordeaux. Also you can get a good look at this bridge while taking a river cruise.
Sandeep C — Google review
The Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux is a marvel of engineering. As the tallest vertical-lift bridge in Europe, it gracefully lifts its central span to accommodate maritime traffic on the Garonne River. The lifting mechanism, resembling a harmonious ballet, allows large vessels to pass beneath, showcasing a seamless blend of functionality and architectural elegance. Observing the Pont Jacques Chaban-Delmas in action is a testament to human ingenuity and enhances the overall allure of Bordeaux's waterfront.
Anne F — Google review
Impressing architecture of a bridge (surely built to let cruise liners pass). For pedestrians there are some spaces to sit and take photos of the pylons or the view from the bridge. Offeres nice views to Cite du Vin, to Pont d'Aquitaine, and to the city of Bordeaux. Reachable by tramway or by walk along the river Garonne. Walking along the riverside vis-à-vis Bordeaux city centre leads you through former harbour areas that have been turned into parks and leisure areas (including the Botanical Garden).
Dionys L — Google review
Cool hang out place
Faisa L — Google review
This bridge is HUGE! I was wondering what those four pillars are while I was still far away but then realized that its a bridge. I've yet to see this one in action like when theres a boat crossing and the bridge will lift 'the road. There is also a possibility to go up. However, I think you need special permit for that. There were a few people- I think its their field trip, that went to the top. I tried to go with them but was not allowed to.

Impressive bridge, great walk/cycle access with plenty of room for both pedestrians and bikes. Popular with the locals that forms part of a running loop around the river. Nice view back over the city.

The Pont de Pierre, also known as the Stone Bridge, is an elegant and historic bridge in Bordeaux. Commissioned by Napoleon, it features 17 spans that gracefully cross the River Garonne. This early 19th-century bridge has become a pedestrian-friendly destination since 2017, offering visitors a serene escape from the city center. A leisurely walk across the Pont de Pierre provides stunning skyline views of Bordeaux over the river, especially enchanting after dark.
Worth to see that water is yellow in Garrona. Nice place for taking a walk and/or run. Not too crowded by cars. Mainly public traffic and a lot of tourist. Good place to take a nice picture of Bordeaux river side.
M N — Google review
Some great views, but on a hot Sunday morning in May, it was far too crowded with too many runners trying to keep their speed up and barging into pedestrians. Plus a huge lack of people able to keep to the side of the path designated for walking in their direction. The only place in Bordeaux we found so much congestion from people.
Paul C — Google review

Marco G — Google review
This is one of Bordeaux’s most historic landmarks commissioned by Napoleon and finished after his death. It is beautiful day or night and lovely to walk across as the tide rushes in or out. The 17 arches are for the the letters in Napoleon’s full name. It’s popular with runners because the traffic is limited.
Theresa H — Google review
A historical bridge in Bordeaux.. and the quiet city life nicely positioned around it is not bad. fine for short walks and taking pictures. public transport is just above it.
Refik T — Google review
This bridge caught my attention while i was walking near the river. It looked really nice. Its a long walk but i get to enjoy the view and the people who were there as well. You can also see the current's strength of the river and it looks very scary. Viewed from a distance, the autumn leaves adds more beauty especially if seen from an angle.

Located in Bordeaux, the Miroir d'eau is a large shallow reflecting pool built in 2006 near Place de la Bourse. Covering an area of 3450 square meters, it is one of the world's largest reflecting pools and offers stunning views of the surrounding architecture. The water's surface acts as a mirror, creating beautiful visual effects and making it a popular spot for photography.
A brilliant idea in combining a modern structure with the old buildings on the other side of the square. When there is no wind, the buildings are reflected in the water. It is very beautiful, as are the blooming gardens along the embankment. A wonderful space for walking!
Olga I — Google review
Fascinating creation right next to the river. You can see a clear reflection of people and buildings, if it is not too windy. They have two different exhibitions, a mist spray followed by about 2cm deep of water coming up from the bottom.
Michael R — Google review
The Miroir d'eau is just a playground with sprinkles. It is right next to the promenade at the river and across the street from the Place de la Bourse, not in front it, as appearing in the touristic brochures. The thin layer of water creates a reflective surface for the sky or Place de la Bourse buildings across the street. Popular water playground with children and to sit around to cool down in the warmer months or as a gorgeous, instagramable setting for pictures during the day or at night.
Gergana — Google review
An interesting location and use of water in a public space. Unfortunately the day we were in Bordeaux it was windy. The evening was calmer and allowed for some good reflections.
Stuart T — Google review
Such a great idea, simple that created a beautiful landscape. Reflecting the surrouding, the sky, the activities of people. Big playground for everyone especially kids 🥳
Quỳnh N — Google review
The Water Mirror in Bordeaux is deceptively simple yet magical. Its charm lies in the cyclical transformation it undergoes, the water functions as a perfect mirror, then a gentle fog is released across the surface creating a dream-like ambiance.
Yash V — Google review
Beautiful place excellent for cooling your feet on a hot day. Amazing photo opportunities. Lovely walk along the river.
Sara G — Google review
What's not to like? Highly recommend removing shoes and socks and paddling around in it. It was refreshing on a day that was in the high 30s in degrees. We spent over an hour paddling and splashing and people watching. Definitely take a visit

A quick visit on our way to Donostia. It was openhouse that weekend so; free entry, tour and tasting. Friendly welcoming hosts. It was great! They gave us an english private tour. Tasting was really good and elegant. There was opportunity to sit outside and enjoy sausage, cheese and oysters!! Unfortunately...we couldn't stay long. All in all a great and nice spot to visit and taste some nice wines.

After trying to visit two wineries that were closed (despite what Google indicated) and struggling to find availability at other places, we luckily stumbled upon this wonderful château. From the moment we arrived, Chiara was warm and welcoming. She made our tasting experience truly special, offering not only excellent wines but also invaluable advice and insights. Thanks to her, what started as a frustrating day turned into a delightful one. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended! Thanks Chiara ❣️❣️❣️

Wonderful experience at Château Guiraud in Sauternes! Louis was a wonderful guide, educating us of the history, wine making process & let us taste some magnificent vintages. Beautiful domaine. Very much worth a visit.
Laura G — Google review
Enjoyed a wonderful visit to this Chateau and its beautiful vineyards, all biological! The people that work here love the environment. Guiraud also has 2 restaurants. It would be so beautiful if they had a Hotel to make it all complete ;-). Laurence was our guide and she showed us the vineyards, caves, boutique and part of the chateau. And of course we sampled the wines of Guiraud! Next to the well known sweet wines they also make 2 dry ones, the G de Guiraud and the excellent Grand vin blanc sec. The Grand vin we couldn't resist so we took a bottle with us. Now we have 3 favorite wines in the Sauternes region. We will treasure this experience forever !

All I can say...AMAZING! We arrived at the Chateau after booking a tour but forgetting to confirm for some reason. They were so nice to accommodate us right away. Our tour guide Laurence was a rockstar!!! She was so knowledgeable in terms of explaining all the procedures they do in the vineyards but also in the winery. Then we went into tasting the wines. The Chateau Guiraud Grand Cru Classe 2015 is A GEM!!! Amazing quality/price meaning..buy as long as you can find it, but also the second cuvee Petit Guiraud was super concentrated, balanced and delicious. As a plus we got to taste the dry white they produce cuvee "G". A very interesting wine, fresh and crunchy, definitely very different style compared any Bordeaux blanc produced in the region. If you are a wine nerd you definitely need to taste this wine. Thank you Chateau Guiraud for the hospitality, we will definitely be back when the warm weather comes!

When visiting Bordeaux, one of the must-see spots is the Place de la Bourse. This iconic 18th-century city square is surrounded by elegant architecture and features a grand fountain at its center. The Palais de la Bourse, with its Neoclassical-style facade adorned with columns and sculptures, is a notable building to explore.
Kind an artificial pool with bunch of kids running around. Unusual and nice place - at least to see and experience this. When it gets quieter you can make amazing photos with buildings around and this part of flat water pool. Results are amazing

The 'water mirror' opposite of the bourse buildings is awesome! Such an excellent idea! This artist may get followers and copy cats all over the globe. The water is refreshing, makes the public happy and relaxed, allows kids to enjoy a city visit and provides poor citizens with a place where they can mingle with everyone else in a relaxed way. It also gives enough water for great flowers and the gardens/park pieces next to the water mirror. And, when quiet, the reflection doubles the grandeur of the bourse buildings. Best place of Bordeaux in my opinion.
Christy D — Google review
I visited Place de la Bourse in Bordeaux at night and it was a wonderful experience. The whole area looked magical with the lights reflecting on the beautiful old buildings and the famous water mirror. The fountain and lighting together created a peaceful and charming atmosphere. I spent a few hours just walking around, watching the reflections, and enjoying the calm breeze from the river. The place was lively yet serene — people relaxing, children playing, and tourists taking photos. It’s one of those spots where you can simply sit and take in the beauty of the city. If you are in Bordeaux, an evening visit to Place de la Bourse is a must. It truly captures the heart and elegance of the city.

Rue Sainte-Catherine is a charming pedestrian shopping street that stretches through the historic neighborhoods of Bordeaux. It holds the title of being the longest pedestrian shopping street in France, boasting beautiful architecture with three- and four-story buildings made of creamy stone and adorned with wrought-iron balconies.

The shop puts forward not only the big chateaux (they have a good selection of gran cru classé, including Yquem), but the small producers of the Sauternes-Barsac appellation. Tou can find dry white, red, rose, sparkling wine. A selection of typical products of local gastronomy made by local artisans. Staff speak French, English Spanish and Italian. Great value!

Such friendly service at this wine store. We were able to walk in on a Monday at 12pm and sample a couple of Sauternes wines and get information on the chateaus and area. Thank you so much for your kindness!

This is an experience not be missed. We had a wonderful explanation of all things Sauternes - a great tasting and some of the most wonderful people we have meet with a must see Bee (this will make sense when you visit). These folks are the ambassadors of Sauternes, or you could say as sweet as the wine. Thank you for the education, the local knowledge and the warm welcome. If you find yourself in Sauternes this is a do not miss destination.

Nice shop, good choice and excellent advises Despite its worldwide reputation, Sauternes village is very tiny and has barely no business, this nice and cool shop has a good selection of Sauternes wines and products, you will find what you need to bring wines or presents (ask for the cannelés canned with Sauternes for a sweet experience). You can of course taste wines with the excellent advises of the shop manager, a lady with in-depth knowledge about all Sauternes vineyards, technics, history...

Catholic cathedral

Saint-André Cathedral in Bordeaux, a towering Romanesque cathedral dating back to the 11th century, may not be as grand in size as some of France's famous cathedrals, but it holds a unique and unexpected charm. Steeped in history, it was consecrated by Pope Urban II and has witnessed significant events such as the weddings of historical figures like Eleanor of Aquitaine and Louis VII.
Absolutely stunning cathedral in the heart of Bordeaux. The Gothic architecture is breathtaking, and the interior is peaceful and majestic. Make sure to visit the nearby Tour Pey-Berland for incredible views of the city. A must-see if you’re in Bordeaux!
Jean N — Google review
I was unfortunately visiting after a family bereavement so my opinion is probably not as positive as others would be. It's large, overwhelming at times, and is very popular. I had no real access to peace and tranquility due to the large crowds and tours operating. Like all cathedrals it begs for money constantly and is vulgar in the way it spends on making itself look attractive.
Philip B — Google review
This is a totally astonishing building. It’s Bill Tower is located separate to the cathedral in this massive square, one of the largest in Europe. The church itself is a massive space. It has the most glorious windows and wonderful atmosphere. It is free to visitand there is a ticketed illuminations presentation. This presentation also has the option of a live choir, providing the music.
G M — Google review
The Cathedral of Saint-André de Bordeaux, formally known as the Cathedral of Saint-André, is a historic and magnificent Catholic cathedral in Bordeaux, France. It serves as the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bordeaux. Renowned for its soaring Gothic spire, exquisite carvings, and rich historical legacy, it stands as one of the defining landmarks of Bordeaux's old town. Originally a Romanesque structure, only one wall of the nave remains from the original Romanesque architecture. The majority of the existing structure is Gothic. The famous “Royal Portal” (Porte Royale), built in the early 13th century, is a masterpiece of early Gothic style. The remainder of the cathedral was primarily constructed between the 14th and 15th centuries. Consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096, it serves as a major stop along the Tour route—one of the four traditional French pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. It is listed as part of the “French Routes of Santiago de Compostela” UNESCO World Heritage site. Attending a Mass here offers an atmosphere rich with spiritual resonance. On weekends, the square outside the church hosts various small markets, which are also worth exploring.

Wonderful castle unfortunately we have came at 13.15 and it was closed so we've just looked at it from the outside.

The visit is 5 euro and includes seeing the castle remains and a guide taking you to some special parts of the castle and explaining. The remains are beautiful. We had an English guide that flexibly arranged the guidance based on our arrival time. It was great and very informative. The information here helps understand many things in the region, I definitely suggest.

A beautiful chateau to visit, amazing grounds, really interesting history and a great tour. The tour was only in French, but there was a very detailed written English guide to read along with the tour. I was worried it would feel like we were missing out on details, but it actually worked really well. The tour guide was entertaining, clear and friendly, even with the language barrier.

What a joy on this rainy day in Mont de Marsan to go and read in this magnificently designed place where architecture is truly at the service of culture. The Marsan Media Library is the work of the archi5 firm represented by the architect Jacques Sebbag, associated with Borja Huidobro. The building offers a resolutely contemporary architecture: purity of forms, transparency, light, materials, furniture design, signage graphics, ... Place of discovery, transmission and meeting, the transparency of the facades, the continuous treatment of the ground and its location in the heart of the former Bosquet barracks, make this building a covered cultural place. The ground floor of this quadrilateral is open on all sides. An open-air interior patio naturally organizes the different functions on a free space. A contemplative breathing space, it maintains visual continuity and diffuses controlled daylight. Its structure follows a design that evokes the pine forests of the neighboring Landes. It is the strong architectural element that creates visual superposition effects in interior spaces. Shelving, reading spaces and circulation ramps are cleverly arranged to create fluidity and beautiful privacy. Finally, the sound processing is remarkable, the atmosphere is silent and conducive to concentration. Le Thiers

Mentioned on
1 list
$$$$affordable
French restaurant
Le Thiers is a well-established brasserie located on the beachfront of Arcachon Bay. They offer a menu that includes burgers, seafood platters and sundaes. Although the prices are considered high compared to other similar restaurants, it's worth it for the location. The staff is friendly and accommodating even though they don't have baby changing facilities available. The service can be slow at times, but overall Le Thiers offers good food in a beautiful setting.
We are here in June 2025 and although the promenade is full of restaurants, we come back here three times. The staff are very attentive, friendly and quick. Tables are set and orders taken immediately. The menu includes burgers, meat dishes, with an emphasis on fish and seafood. The fries are crispy and perfectly salted. We could only see positive things here and give it our unreserved recommendation.

I recently visited Le thiers and left with mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly friendly. From the moment we walked in, the waitress greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel right at home. She was attentive, polite, and did her best to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. However, despite the wonderful service, the coffee itself was a huge letdown. We ordered coffee crème, expecting a rich, creamy coffee experience. What we received instead was quite the opposite—a weak, burned-tasting Nescafé with hot water. It was far from what we were hoping for, and honestly, it was one of the worst coffees I've ever had. It was disappointing to have such a lovely setting and great service undermined by a poor-quality drink. While I appreciate the welcoming environment and the excellent service, I can’t recommend it for its coffee. If they could improve the quality of their drinks to match their service, this place would be a real gem. But until then, I’d suggest going elsewhere if you’re looking for a good cup of coffee.

We really enjoyed our meal. Mayana was very attentive. The fish and chips was fab as were the mussels we had 2 different ways. I'd highly recommend, fab location and service
Michelle L — Google review
Good location, swift service from the waiters, and the food came out quickly. But apart from that it felt like a tourist trap, with really mediocre food. The calamari was really tough and rubbery and nearly inedible, even the mayonnaise was strange, very thick and not nice at all. The mussles in the Roquefort sauce was nice, however the fries weren't amazing.
Shantis T — Google review
Lovely meal in this sunny seaside restaurant. Hubby had the moules and frites and I had the burger both delicious. Matthias was our waiter and he was polite and friendly and spoke some English with a smile!

It was best muscles I’ve ever had! Specifically the waiter Matthais was specifically amazing! He was so nice and kind. I recommend this place if you ever visit Arcachon.

We only stoped for a beer and a wine, the servers are welcoming and nice, and they offered some olives with the drinks, nice little and hospitable gesture We did not try the food, for that this is not about food only the service

Parc Mauresque

Park
Nature & Parks
Parc Mauresque is a park located near The Winter Town in Arcachon. This park is accessible via elevator and offers visitors access to trails, a rose garden, and a playground. Additionally, the park provides bay views that visitors can enjoy. While some of the playgrounds may be in need of renovation, it is still an excellent place to take children for a walk. The cozy and romantic ambiance of the park makes it an ideal spot for couples looking to spend time together.
What a pittoresque and beautiful little parc. Parc Mauresque is a historic public park located in Arcachon, France. Its story begins in the late 19th century, during the height of Arcachon’s development as a fashionable seaside resort. The park was part of the larger project of creating the “Ville d’Hiver” (Winter Town), a district designed to attract wealthy visitors seeking health benefits from the mild winter climate.
Cristian G — Google review
Small park with a rose garden, palm trees ans some huge old trees.
Axel B — Google review
A haven of calm and freshness, it has been home to an arboretum since 1992, with 4 hectares of small plant treasures, rare or exotic plants and trees, a pretty rose garden with nearly 600 rose bushes. Sit down on one of the famous red Arcachon benches, then contemplate, smell, and appreciate the sweetness of the moment. It once served as a setting for the Mauresque casino, ravaged by a fire in 1977. This casino was the work of the architect Paul Régnauld and Jules Salesses. The architecture of this building was characterized by the great diversity of materials used: iron columns and beams, bricks and terracotta tiles, pine wood floors. At the elevator exit is a model representing the Alhambra.
Enjoy L — Google review
Nice park to cool down and relax. Playgrounds for kids and a beautiful walking path around the park. The small tourist train also makes a pass through the park from time to time. Good views of the city and a hit of history with the model of the casino that used to be there 50 years ago

Really nice little park with a playground, rose garden and open library! It's located on a hill so gives a nice panoramic view of the town.

Ok...so our experience was affected by our visit being by public transit from downtown Bordeaux....which is kind of remarkable if you think of how far it is from downtown Bordeaux....and we had out luggage with us. The trails are accessible. The network not long. All routes can be walked comfortably in 1.5 to 2.0 hours. Build in you 1/2 hour transit each way, and it a good frre 1/2 day activity. The ruins are VERY photographable.
Daniel O — Google review
The park is a cool haven of peace and tranquillity; it has hosted an arboretum since 1992, with over 4 hectares of green treasures: rare or exotic plants and trees, and for a few weeks has been home to a beautiful rose garden with some 600 rose bushes. (Arcachon official website) A huge bull park, perfect to be a spectator of an important recreational sport of France. Every turn is a surprise with extremely well taken care of plants and trees. Exquisite and beautifully design combination and arrangement of plants.

A great park with playground, public toilet, elevator, beautiful flowers and park benches... within walking distance to the beach (Plage Thiers), which makes it a perfect place to have an afternoon stroll, or just to bask in the sunshine!

Sights & Landmarks
Observatoire Sainte-Cécile is a must-visit attraction in Arcachon, offering a superb view of the town and the stunning landscapes that include marinas, fishing ports, and beaches. The observatory overlooks Arcachon and provides an opportunity to see the city from above the treetops through spiral staircases. It's important to note that only 8 people are allowed on the platform at a time, so there might be a short wait.
L’observatoire is free to visit, max of 8 people allowed on the tower at once. People in line were counting :) the stairs are a bit wobbly but even though I’m afraid of heights this was easy and not scary. Beautiful view over the area

A lovely stop on a walking tour of Arcachon. Fun to climb and a great view from the top, would recommend taking in this site.
Sarah H — Google review
Great views of the town, not too many steps to climb, a really fun way to take in the views of the city.
Gary F — Google review
It’s a metallic observation tower with a spiral staircase inside, allowing visitors to climb up and enjoy panoramic views over the Arcachon Basin, and surrounding landscapes. Such a nice expirience!!
Danesha H — Google review
Amazing 360° panoramic views over Arcachon Town, the pine forests and the sea. Its only about a 20 mins small uphill walk from the town centre. It's free and is an outdoor metal structure with approx 50 metal spiral steps to reach the open circular platform.
Richard A — Google review
This is a great way of seeing over the town. The stairway to the platform is small and winding. The stairs are okay but they do move as they are suspended. It is worth the trip to the top for the glorious views.
Paul R — Google review
Near the parc mauresque there's this little iron tower with a spiral staircase that goes up to more than 20 meters and the view is astonishing.

Really amazing views on the top. You have a pretty good view of Arcachon. To go on top, there are a lot of narrow stairs, so I guess is not recommended for people with low mobility.

After a quick ride around the school to check the groups riding ability matched. We had a wonderful ride through the forest and into the lake. Plenty of trots and canters through the forest. Friendly, experienced instructor who loved the horses and regularly checked everyone. Thank you for making holiday memories 🥰
Yvonne G — Google review
It was a wonderful one-hour horseback ride — perfect for beginners! Virginie explained everything clearly and made us feel very comfortable. The route was beautiful too, with lovely views all along the way.
ILONA H — Google review
We had a fantastic ride through the forest and to the lake. We were encouraged to groom and saddle our own horses, which we enjoyed. Helmets were available to borrow. The horses looked well cared for, and that is very important to us. Although Virginie herself speaks no English, she made an effort to communicate and was very friendly. She reserved a guide, Melanie, who spoke English very well. Melanie was a great guide and riding companion. On our private tour, we enjoyed trotting and cantering. This was one of the best horse rental companies I’ve encountered. I highly recommend Equi-Aventure!

Le Phare du Cap Ferret is a must-visit attraction offering a blend of maritime history and scenic views. The lighthouse houses captivating exhibits on cartography and marine navigation, making it an educational experience for visitors. Additionally, the public observation deck provides stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. Surrounding attractions include an aquarium showcasing regional marine life and a museum featuring local history, oyster farming, and prehistoric artifacts.
Easy to park nearby (April 2025). No wait. €7pp. Quite a climb, but worth it, albeit very windy. Good gift shop with reasonable prices. No toilets or refreshments nearby, but public toilets 5 min walk away near the beach. Restaurants nearby.

A unique place. It is worth to climb up and overlook the bay. You can really good see the dune at the other side. Entrance fee is 7€ and parking can be done in the streets quiete simple.

Plenty of parking in the area and a nice place to visit. There was a queue to go up the tower so we just spent our time walking around the grounds and exploring the adjacent shelter detailing the history of the building. Very good gift shop

Beautiful place with nice views to the whole area. We drove 1,5 hours to get there and I am happy that we did not miss the chance. As we visited the lighthouse before ~45 minutes before closure, there was no crowd. For non-French speakers: in the museum everything is written in French, so at least a little French knowledge is beneficial ;) However there is an audioguide in English & German which can help!

Dune of Pilat, a famous sand dune located along the shore, rises to a height of 110m above sea level. The area is surrounded by natural beauty, including the Ile aux Oiseaux, Lake Cazaux and Sanguinet, and the national nature reserve of the Banc d'Arguin. Additionally, it features notable landmarks such as the church of Saint-Vincent and historic buildings like the house of Verthamon and Lalanne house.
Just stunning. Hard to believe the size and beauty of it. Very well set up too, good selection of cafes, shade and services before you make the climb. Really well done 👏👏 A must see if the area!

We combined a trip to Bordeaux with this so ended here at the beginning of the evening (at 18:00). We parked not at the formal entrance, but a bit down the road where we had to walk between the bushes and made a steep climb onto the dune. Challenging! But the view is amazing and coming there in the evening gives very nice pictures with the sunset (and it's not so crowded). We swam for a short while and went back before it got dark. The way down is much faster ;-)

Rising over 100 m above the Bassin d’Arcachon, Europe’s tallest sand dune and natural colossus draws nearly two million visitors each year. Families climb its soft flank for sweeping views across forest and ocean, while removable staircases and marked paths channel footfall to reduce erosion. At peak times, up to 17,000 people ascend daily, and archaeologists descend to preserve prehistoric revelations. Recognised as a Grand Site National since 1978, it is both geological wonder and leisure magnet, shaped by four millennia of wind and time.
Loo Y — Google review
An unforgettable natural wonder — the Dune du Pilat near Arcachon is the largest sand dune in Europe and absolutely stunning. It’s easy to access, yet feels like stepping into another world. If you want to see something truly extraordinary just beyond your doorstep, this is the place to go!
Boris B — Google review
Great views of the surrounding countryside. Be ready for a good climb if you want to reach the top though as there are plenty of steps to navigate, make sure you have some comfy footwear. The parking is €7, but that also covers the cost of the visit for as long as you want, so it was very good value for money. The parking areas are also very shaded so your car won’t be an oven when you return from your travels. It was busy when we visited, but as the fine is so large it didn’t feel overcrowded.
Julian D — Google review
We passed by on our route to Bilbao - what a stop, what an impressive piece of landscape. Well organized with a beautiful wooden tourist „village“!!
Seb L — Google review
If in area this is a must see! This is one long 2km dune along the coast. It seems so out of place. The view from the top of the dune overlooking the bay is stunning. There is one set of stairs to assist with your climb.
Brian K — Google review
Do I still need to introduce the majestic Dune of Pilat, the highest dune in Europe, which continues to amaze me years after years with its immensity and breathtaking landscapes ? Dominating the entrance to the Arcachon Bay, it stretches over 500 meters wide, reaches nearly 102 meters high and offers a spectacular panorama. From its summit, the view takes in the Atlantic Ocean, the Landes forest, the Cap-Ferret peninsula, the Banc d'Arguin and the bay. This masterpiece of nature, fragile and in perpetual movement, moves each year from one to five meters towards the forest, grain by grain, testifying to thousands of years of history and the incredible dynamics of the elements. Reaching this exceptional site is now facilitated by modern and well-designed facilities. A new cycle path leads to the site's entrance, and a pedestrian axis designed as a promenade crosses the reception area, inviting you to stroll before undertaking the climb. It can also be reached by bus or even by boat, making the Dune a destination accessible to all. Since summer 2023, the completely renovated reception area offers cultural and restaurant shops open year-round, and a seasonal staircase, installed from April to October, allows you to gently climb the dune from the back while preserving this natural site. Once at the top, the magic happens. At low tide, the sandbanks reveal heavenly hues, particularly the Banc d'Arguin National Nature Reserve, which stretches below. In summer, the Dune of Pilat attracts many visitors ; to fully enjoy the tranquility of the place, it is best to come early in the morning or at the end of the day. The golden hours of sunrise and sunset offer unique moments where the light enhances every detail of the landscape ! In summer, sunset walks are particularly popular for experiencing a moment outside of time. Hikes, storytelling walks, and educational workshops also enrich the visitor experience. Listed nationally and included in the Réseau des Grands Sites de France (Great Sites of France), the Dune of Pilat is exemplarily managed by the Syndicat Mixte de la Grande Dune du Pilat, in partnership with the Conservatoire du Littoral (Coastal Protection Agency). These preservation and development efforts ensure a balance between welcoming the public and protecting the natural environment. The revenue from parking is entirely reinvested in the management of the site : waste collection, naturalist monitoring and free environmental education tools ... This great lady of sand, witness to history and natural forces, continues to fascinate with its movement, its scale and the diversity of the landscapes it dominates. A visit to the Dune of Pilat is the assurance of an unforgettable encounter with an exceptional site, constantly evolving, in the heart of the Arcachon basin ...

If you're seeking an exhilarating day out in Biscarrosse, look no further than Aquapark Biscarrosse! Open from early May to late September, it boasts a plethora of attractions including inflatable trampolines, climbing walls, giant catapults, and slides that promise endless fun. The park features a dedicated area for younger children under 10 called Aquakid!
Absolutely the best family fun we have had. Without a doubt a bargain for the amount of fun you get for the price. We paid for an hour and probably only did half the stuff. We had such a laugh. Very well managed with the staff being very friendly and fun.

Huge, fun and lots to do!! It can get very busy so time your trip wisely. Everyone was very nice and everything was well looked after for a water park

We had a fantastic experience at the aquapark! Before our visit, we emailed to ask if our older children (12 and 14) could accompany our 6-year-old, as the park has separate timeslots for kids up to 8 and those 8 and older. The staff responded promptly, informing us that our youngest could join the 8+ session if it wasn’t too busy, typically at opening (11:00 AM) or near closing (6:00 PM). We arrived at 11:00 AM, waited about 30 minutes, and then enjoyed two hours of fun at the park. It’s the largest aquapark we’ve ever visited, with attentive lifeguards ensuring everyone’s safety. If you’re in the area or within a 30-minute drive like us, it’s absolutely worth the trip!
Evert B — Google review
Great FUN for the entire family. The site contains loads of inflatable water games comprising slides, zip-line (costs extra), obstacles, climbing wall, balls which you can try crossing (I have seen nobody make more than 3 or 4 balls) and many more. You can take the 1h or 2h session (we took the 1h first but decided to stay for the full 2h as its really great fun). It can get busy but the lifeguards keep the teenagers in check. If you have younger children you can choose one of three family mornings for children under 10. Highly recommended for a fun outing.

The sets, the costumes, the choreography and the musical choices... everything was of a very good standard. We had a great time. Well done to the whole team. Même si la 1ère partie (repas) est un peu longue, les plats sont bons et le spectacle vraiment divertissant. I just finished my second tour, I went on the canyoning and speleology tour with Iban and my friends. The tour was fantastic, I would strongly recommend to anyone interested to attend. Iban was very informative and safe, he attended to all questions and assisted when needed. It was a great day enjoying the local nature. We also enjoyed a picnic afterwards which was a perfect way to finish the adventure.

His passion for underground exploration is contagious, and he knows how to add a touch of Basque humor to every moment. Not only was the instructor knowledgeable and attentive to our safety, but he also shared Basque jokes that added a festive atmosphere to our adventure. Between two narrow passages and three astonishing discoveries, we laughed out loud!
