EXPERIENCE EXCELLENT
Donato A — Google review
(Translated by Google) This is my first review and I couldn't help but start from here. I was completely unaware of the existence of such a place just over an hour from home. Venosa wonderful to visit: a museum that takes you inside the various eras through interactive screens, the various wonderful and masterfully preserved finds. The archaeological park is also beautiful: wonderful atmosphere and everything well looked after. My biggest compliments. "Entering" the unfinished moved me. The cost of the ticket is very low if we compare it to the experience. I would do it again a thousand times and I wish it was a little more publicized because it deserves a lot. A huge thank you and respect to whoever is behind the museum panels, between figures and 3D maps there is enormous passion and wisdom. (I hate to think about the time spent behind all this). A thousand thanks! Grazie mille!

(Translated by Google) Arriving in Venosa you are greeted by an elegant square and the massive Aragonese castle. Walking along the main street, immediately outside the town you come across a very respectable museum centre. For those who have time, with a single ticket costing €7, which can be spent over 3 days, you can visit the castle of Melfi, the Aragonese castle, the archaeological museum and the unfinished building of Venosa. The museum itinerary of the archaeological site is completed with the itinerary of the Aragonese Castle museum. The first shows the Roman remains allowing the visitor to immerse themselves in history; the second allows you, through an interactive journey, to understand the evolution of Venosa from its birth to the Renaissance. In the archaeological museum we were introduced to the journey that led us to explore the Baths with: frigidarium, calidarium, gym and changing room, the Domus, the cobbled street and the mosaics. At the end of the route we entered the unfinished space and remained breathless. One of a kind beauty.

(Translated by Google) A small but extraordinary museum in the city of Venosa, which can be visited in the underground walkways of the Aragonese castle in Piazza Umberto I. The setting and layout are particular: various sections show finds dating back to different eras, pre-Roman and Roman and early medieval Venosa. Furthermore, various findings come from Notarchirico, one of the oldest Paleolithic sites in Italy. Among these is a femur, considered the oldest fossil of this type in Europe, which belonged to a hominid from 300,000 years ago. The various interactive screens and augmented reality stations are also special. Truly a great experience!

(Translated by Google) 5 stars are few! The ticket price is truly negligible for what is offered. It includes a visit to the archaeological excavations, the castle and the museum (and what a museum!) I have long aspired to a concept of an interactive and multimedia archaeological museum because it makes you experience up close things and distant places that you have never experienced. It deserves even more for all the organization and care that goes into it.

Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the charming village of Lagopesole, the Chiesa della Santissima Trinità is a stunning architectural gem that reflects both history and modernity. Established in 1959 through the efforts of the Development Agency for Land Reform in Puglia and Lucania, this church was built on the site of an older parish church dating back to 1886. The grand opening took place on March 25, 1961, when Bishop Bertazzoni blessed its completion.
(Translated by Google) In 1959, with the intervention of the Development Agency for Land Reform in Puglia and Lucania, work began on the new church, which overlooks an open space created from the demolition of the ancient modest parish church, built by the faithful on 1886; on 25 March 1961 Bishop Bertazzoni returned to Lagopesole to bless the completed work. In 1971, the parish was enriched with new premises for the pastoral ministry, created by the parish priest Antonio Verrastro, Monsignor Aurelio Sorrentino being Bishop, with the contribution of the State and the faithful, on land generously donated by the Gagliardi brothers' heirs. The building extends over a plot of 800 m2, surrounded by greenery. It includes a conference room and cinema theatre, five catechism classrooms, two rooms for AC members, two games rooms with attached services, as well as other rooms used as a parish office and a waiting room. The works, contracted at the end of October 1969, were completed in September 1971. Following the earthquake of 23 November 1980, the mother church of Lagopesole was unusable. The parish priest is called to a new major commitment, and, on the basis of law 219, with the intervention of the OO.PP. superintendent, the new church is ready and awaits Archbishop Appignanesi, who in October 1996, at the end of a five-day visit, he blesses the new parish church.

Palombaro lungo

The "Palombaro Lungo" is a remarkable subterranean cistern located beneath the bustling Piazza Vittorio in Matera. Dating back to the 19th century, this expansive water reserve was designed to collect drinking water for the residents of "Sasso Caveoso." With a depth of 15 meters and a capacity of approximately 5,000 cubic meters, it represents an impressive feat of hydraulic engineering.
Great short visit to learn this great engineering project that provided the population of Matera with water. Great to do in a hot day to get good reprieve from the hot weather. Entrance was 3 €. Definitely recommended

We visited on the weekend, but unfortunately the place was closed and there was no option to buy tickets. From the look of things, it seems like it may no longer be operating—lockers appeared old and dusty, though it’s possible it’s just temporarily closed (I can’t say for sure), but I see people visited it lately an it was open… I wish it was open when we visited 🥹🥹🥹 That said, you can still walk down the stairs to enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the town. The entrance door is nice and the view adding it’s magic, and the historical architecture is truly beautiful and worth seeing. 🥰 Definitely a nice spot for a quick stop and some great photos! 🤩

Walked down today now queue to entre. Opening times are on the website. Was 3€ per adult and children under 18 free. Most people are down there 12-15 minutes. Stairs down are the same way back out so not for babies or people with mobility issues. No animals allowed also. The lights are beautiful and the entrance fee also included in info sheet on its history.
Gemma B — Google review
We decided to visit Palombardo Lungo on a blistering afternoon, more in need of a break from the sun than anything else. Handing over the €3 per adult felt a bit steep for what essentially looked like a stone archway. We went in with low expectations, and to be honest, the experience didn't really justify the price from a historical or cultural perspective. The name itself, "lungo" (long), gives you the most accurate description: it's a long, shaded passageway that you walk through. There's not a whole lot to see or do inside. It's a simple, well-maintained tunnel with rough-hewn stone walls and a cool, damp atmosphere. You can hear your own footsteps echoing in the quiet. However, what it lacks in visual spectacle, it more than makes up for in pure, unadulterated relief from the heat. The moment you step out of the blinding sunlight and into that cool, dark interior, it feels like a total reset for your body. It's the most refreshing few minutes you'll spend all day. So, while I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a must-see attraction on its own merit, if you find yourself walking around under a merciless sun and your energy is starting to fade, Palombardo Lungo becomes a practical, and at that moment, invaluable refuge. The €3 isn't for the historical significance; it's for the brief, beautiful respite from the heat. It's a great example of how sometimes the best part of a visit isn't what's advertised, but the simple comfort it provides from the elements.
Shanit R — Google review
This underground building is a good example how Matera residence stored water in old days. It should be able to store lots water, but now there is only little water on the bottom, maybe only for exhibition purpose, not sure if tap water is nowdays availabel in Matera. The building is well maintained, with bridges and steps for visitors to walk around. The lights inside is colorful. It is quite big structure and worthy to spend some time here.
Ken X — Google review
Nice location to visit. Not very big, but cheap and interesting.

It is a great place to visit to understand the way people lived in the old times. The engineering behind it is amazing, worth the €3 to see and understand what it did to the people of Matera years ago

## Palombaro Longo: A Journey to Matera's Underground Secrets Palombaro Longo is more than just a cave; it's a portal to Matera's fascinating past. Stepping down into its depths is like entering another world, a world of ancient ingenuity and unsettling beauty. **A Labyrinth of Stone:** The sheer size and scale of the cave system is breathtaking. Imagine a labyrinth of tunnels and chambers carved from sheer rock. The intricate network of walkways, built by hand centuries ago, weave a story of resilience and ingenuity. The sense of history is palpable, a reminder of how Matera's inhabitants lived and thrived beneath the city centuries ago. **A Breathtaking Dive into History:** Offering fascinating insights into the lives of the Sassi people who lived in these underground dwellings. You'll learn about their unique way of life, their ingenuity in adapting to the rugged terrain, and the challenges they faced. **A Unique Sensory Experience:** The subterranean atmosphere is both cool and hushed, adding to the sense of mystery and intrigue. The lack of natural light is a fascinating contrast to the sun-drenched city above, creating a unique experience that is both unsettling and awe-inspiring. The silence, broken only by the drip of water and the occasional whisper, is a profound and contemplative experience. ** For the Adventurous:** Palombaro Longo is not for the faint of heart. It's a physical journey down into the depths, requiring some effort (😜) and a sense of adventure. But the experience is well worth it. It's a chance to step back in time, to experience a part of Matera that's often hidden from the tourist trail, and to appreciate the city's incredible resilience and history. **A few things to note:** * **Book in advance:** The tour is popular, so booking in advance is essential. * **Limited accessibility:** The tour can be physically demanding, especially for those with mobility issues. * **Embrace the darkness:** Be prepared for a bit of darkness; it's part of the experience! Palombaro Longo is recommended for anyone visiting Matera. It's a journey that will stay with you long after you leave the underground tunnels.

Casa Noha

Local history museum
Casa Noha is a historic stone house in Matera that offers a 25-minute multimedia exhibit detailing the history of the Sassi. The video experience portrays the deplorable living conditions and extreme poverty that were once prevalent in the sassi, where families lived alongside their animals in small, dark spaces. Over time, the government relocated some of the population, leading to the transformation of cave dwellings into today's hotels, shops, and restaurants.
The perfect way to learn about the fascinating history of Matera and the Sassi. It's not an easy watch at times, but it is incredibly interesting and gives you a far deeper understanding of the city you're exploring.

The house is really hard to find. We had been searching for an hour to find it. And in the burning sun it was quite an experience. But our struggle was worth it. The staff were amazing, they were nice, friendly. And they spoke English very well (from experience during my stay, we struggled because of language barrier in many places so it was a happy relief :) ). The Casa Noha isn’t a big sight because of its look. You watch 4 videos in 3 rooms and they have an authentic kitchen in the 4th room. The videos are very interesting. I found them one of the best informative videos I have ever watched. The narrative is understandable, and helpful to understand how the people of Matera have lived. I think all of us came out satisfied, and with more knowledge than before. I recommend it before visiting the whole town. It gives you another perspective than just walking around in the city of ruins.
Nemes I — Google review
Interesting place. Basically it is a short movie about Matera history, so you should not expect to see some exhibitions apart from the old house itself. I would rather dedicate time for some cave house with preserved furniture.

Casa Noha in Matera is a historic house that offers a unique multimedia experience, telling the story of the city and its rock-dwelling inhabitants. It’s a great starting point for anyone who wants to learn a bit about Matera’s history.

Casa Grotta nei Sassi di Matera is a historical site that offers a glimpse into the past with its recreated cave dwelling featuring period furnishings, tools, and artifacts. As you explore Matera on foot, you'll come across this old house inside a cave on Vico Solitario street. The Casa Grotta provides an immersive experience as it is perfectly preserved and furnished with items from the 1950s, showcasing the living conditions of peasants during that time.
I will ignore in my rating that it was mid august and totally crowded when I was there. I am sure if you go off the big holiday season that is an even more exceptional experience. You can see that they don't only make money with it, but it is kept in excellent condition just like the whole historical center itself and has very friendly staff all around. The audio guides are well done and available in many languages but I would have appreciated more information out of them. I guess especially during high season they don't want people to spend too much time in each room so they have space for more visitors. All in all I consider it a "Must do" when you visit Matera.

We visited a traditional cave dwelling in the Sassi Caveoso area, and it was definitely worth the stop. Although we had to wait a few minutes before entering, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience feel relaxed and unhurried. The visit offers a fascinating glimpse into how people lived in these caves until the 1950s. It’s quite remarkable—and a little humbling—to see how entire families shared these spaces not only with each other but also with their animals, including chickens and even horses. The interior has been thoughtfully restored and laid out, with everyday objects and furniture that help bring the past to life. While you may have read about this part of Matera’s history, standing inside the cave really gives it a whole new dimension. It’s something else entirely to physically be in the space and imagine what daily life was like. A short but meaningful visit that adds depth to your understanding of Matera’s unique heritage.

Very interesting reconstruction of life and objects in Sassi di Matera. It is amazing that this was not so long ago. It consists of 3 parts, of which only the living room and the natural refrigerator are worth seeing. There is a paid entrance fee of 5 euros for which you get a recorded audio guide through your phone, which is quite crazy, but it is what it is.

A Fascinating Step Back in Time - A Must-See in Matera. Visiting the Casa Grotta nei Sassi was a truly eye-opening experience. It's an amazing place to discover what a traditional peasant home looked like, and it's incredible to think that families lived this way until they were relocated in the 1950s. The recreation is very well done and gives you a powerful feel for their daily life. What makes this a fantastic value is that the same ticket also gives you access to two other nearby sites: an ancient snow cave used for storing ice and a small cave church that was later converted into a dwelling. This is an absolute must-see when you are in the area. It doesn't take long to visit, but it provides incredible context for understanding the unique history of the Sassi. Highly recommended.

Wonderful guide who took the time to answer our questions at Casa Grotto. Much like life in Finland at the same time. Of course, people didn't live in caves in Finland. Interesting history. No queues.

Parco Regionale della Murgia Materana is a rugged regional park known for its churches carved out of caves and cliffs, some adorned with 8th-century frescoes. It serves as an excellent starting point for a walking tour from Matera, offering a glimpse into the area's prehistoric history. The rocky landscape is scattered with rock churches, providing ample opportunities for exploration and photography.
This area is one of the three oldest inhabited cities in the world. On both sides of the canyon, you can enjoy the history of mankind and the beauty of nature.

During my research I found a photo that was taken from the inside of a cave located in Parco Regionale della Murgia, Materna. I became obsessed with getting my own photo. It wasnt easy. My son-in-law escorted me on the short but steep hike to one of the many caves. I was very proud of the results but realized this was no trek to be taken lightly. At 70 years old and in great shape I managed to lie on my back for the shot (see silhoutee of my legs. The photo of the outside of the cave from taken across the way from an area of th Sassi. Once you get to the park you will notice small arrows pointing you in the right direction. You do not need to cross the bridge. Drive to the park and follow the signs. Beware! tha the cave isnt easy to find or to get to but if you are like me and you have to get the shot. wear sturdy sneakers, travel light and take your time.

Panoramic views at the top of the cave. Considering you could do this hike in 1-2 hours by cutting through the switchbacks, the views and the Tibetan bridge walk are def worth it if in town.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Parco Regionale della Murgia Materana and I must say, the experience was truly breathtaking. The landscape was absolutely beautiful, and the views of Matera were simply wonderful. The park is a true gem in the heart of Italy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys hiking or exploring the great outdoors. The trails offer a range of difficulty levels, so there's something for everyone. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to see the ancient rupestrian churches and settlements that are scattered throughout the park. These structures are truly remarkable and offer a glimpse into the rich history and culture of the region. Overall, I would definitely recommend a visit to Parco Regionale della Murgia Materana to anyone who is looking for a unique and unforgettable experience in Italy. The beauty of the landscape and the rich history of the area make it a truly special place that is not to be missed.

Visit a place where time forgot! Matera is a truly stunning town. You could easily spend two or three days here just walking the streets and National Park. The transition from the old town into the park is amazing and the views are simply breathtaking. Traversing the suspension bridge into the park leaves you feeling like your walking next to dinosaurs. Climbing the steep walk to the opposite side is well worth it but take plenty of water and some really good walking shoes/boots. Trainers aren’t really going to do the job. You are surrounded in history and magical culture with loads of beautiful places to eat and drink.

If ever in or around the Puglia region you must check out Experience Puglia Tours. Angelo Coluccia was an amazing host by providing the best accommodations (apt) transportation to and from Bari airport and daily tours which included visits up to three towns each day. Some highlights were visiting churches and Basilica's, a store where cheese was made, wine tasking at a local vineyard, making pasta at a local farm house. Obviously the food was amazing, Angelo found us local restaurants with strong ties to their communities and took time to explain each wine for that particular meal. Great surprise was when he did some family history for my wife and planned a visit to her Grandparents town of Gravina. If you are looking for a guide that is well versed in history, food and culture than look no further than Experience Puglia Tours you will not be disappointed.

Our week-long tour with Angelo (from Experience Puglia Tours) in Puglia was magical! I had never before used a tour guide for an entire trip, and could not have been more happily surprised! Every detail was arranged for, from the apartment stay in our small town, to the daily transportation. The trip was seamless. Angelo is wonderfully warm and knowledgeable, and shared the history of the region and each town, including the production of delicious regional specialties- olive oil, breads, wine and more! Our group of six were driven comfortably from town to town, where we wandered historic streets, gazed at ancient churches and learned about the rich cultural history of the region. The leisurely lunchtime meals were a highlight, with appetizers, pastas and wines all presented with local flavor and hospitality. Meals were slow and delightful, each dish that was presented was tastier than the last. Our companions from Canada and Australia made for a lively group and we wound our way around the small towns or gathered in the evening for a final toast. Bravo Angelo and thank you for the most beautiful trip! We hope to return soon!

Angelo is the perfect host. Our 6 day exploration of Puglia was very thorough and enjoyable. Highlights for me were the wonderful restaurants we visited for lunch each day including the wine pairing Angelo suggested. The personal touches of visiting a winery, a cooking class and a demonstration of mozzarella & burrata cheese making made this tour very special.

I have traveled with Angelo, owner/tour operator & guide/driver/culinary expert extraordinaire twice in the last 10 years. I did two custom tours with the same 2 friends both times. We consider Angelo a true friend. The Puglia region of Italy is quite the hidden gem, and Angelo is "the" expert in bringing this region alive. His tours include it all -- airport pick-up, boutique hotel in his hometown, all breakfasts and lunches (5 star dining at its best ... to rival anything in the U.S.), his excellent tour guidance & extensive historical knowledge of this region, etc. You will visit castles & cathedrals, enjoy wine tastings, visit a cave city & stay in a cave hotel, enjoy a local cooking lesson with a couple exuding charisma, tour (and dine in) seaside cities, tour a "truli" village, etc. Puglia is a world of it's own, unique & beautiful & an engaging contrast to other areas of Italy. Angelo & Experience Puglia will provide a travel experience you'll remember forever.

This was the best tour we have been on, in a region of Italy we had always wanted to visit. Angelo made what was a wonderful trip even more special with his knowledge of all the areas we visited, sharing what is clearly his passion for his home region. The food and wine experiences were amazing, with both variety and very generous quantity from everywhere we dinned. It just kept getting better. The unique experiences such as the mozzarella and burrata tasting, the cooking class and wine tasting were a lot of fun. The cultural aspect was well covered, and opened our eyes to the amazing history of a fascinating area of Italy. Being based in one apartment for the entire time was a bonus, meaning we could focus on each days activities. Thank you Angelo for a truly wonderful holiday, we would love to come back some day. Angelo’s tour of Puglia was an awesome way to discover this wonderful region of Italy. Angelo shares his extensive knowledge of the region’s rich history and culture in a passionate and captivating manner. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our 6 day tour and we appreciated its diversity. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful lunches and the opportunity to taste the typical foods and wine of the region. It was a lot of fun and we highly recommend the tour for anybody that wants to learn about Puglia’s rich history and culture.

Spending 6 days in Puglia with Angelo felt like visiting with an old friend to experience his beloved region through his eyes, knowledge and insight. Every day was filled with "wow" moments: beautiful locations, stunning vistas, historical context conversations, absolutely amazing food and delicious wines, all shared with new friends. A truly unique and intimate experience that I treasure.

We just spent 4 full days with Angelo from Experience Puglia and it was like being guided through much of Puglia with our best friend. Every detail, from our meet/greet at the Bari train station on the first day until we stepped out of the van on our last day, was pure perfection. Angelo has several sample multi-day itineraries on his website, and we were able to mix/match to plan the perfect 4 day tour. In addition to seeing the sights, Angelo is passionate about his beloved Puglia region and brings the history of each place to life. In addition to seeing places we would have never seen on our own, Angelo planned for beautiful lunches and/or wine tasting each day, with beautiful food and gracious hosts. If you want to make the most of your time in Puglia, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Angelo today. I highly recommend Angelo and Experience Puglia tours!

The National Archaeological Museum of Gioia del Colle is a truly captivating institution, showcasing an impressive collection of ancient and well-preserved artifacts. The exhibits feature clear and comprehensive descriptive panels, providing visitors with in-depth knowledge about the showcased finds. It is highly recommended that these panels are also translated into English to cater to a wider audience. Additionally, the museum houses an inside exhibition within a remarkable Norman castle, displaying archaeological discoveries from that specific era.

The museum is very rich thanks to the fact that it is made up of discoveries made in the excavations of Monte Sannace, the Thuriae peuceta. The ticket is €8, but it is possible to purchase a cumulative ticket for €11 with Monte Sannace (in this case, pay attention to the timetables of Monte Sannace because it closes earlier and it takes a couple of hours). The visit naturally also includes a visit to the other rooms of the castle, empty rooms but filled with sounds and projections. Grotta del Trullo, located just outside of Putignano in Italy, is a fascinating cave system that was discovered by chance around 80 years ago. The entrance to the cave is through a trullo and visitors can explore the different caves using a deep metallic staircase. This cave was once used as a temple to honor Athena, the goddess. Visitors can enjoy guided tours with knowledgeable guides who provide clear explanations in both English and Italian.
We found this hidden gem by chance. What we experienced during our visit to the cave was incredible. Only about 2 meters deep, the ground splits into a wonderful, amazing cave. Our guide, Davide, walked us through the cave giving us all the details with complete professionalism. I will leave some photos but, I assure you, what you will see when visiting this cave, is beyond imagination. We strongly recommend you to stop and dive into the cave and you will have the impression that you are in a story. Thank you, Davide!

Very beautiful. I would recommend it instead of the bigger Castellana Grotte, as the cave is richer in stalagmites . I can’t remember the guide’s name, but he explained everything with calm and professionalism! Would recommend everybody to visit

This was an excellent place to visit while in Putignsno! It’s a guided tour of the caves and it’s not a deep cave ( 20 meters to so) so the cave is very close to the above ground! It’s a beautiful cave system and the tour lasts 30 minutes or so and has stunning formations!

We had a fantastic visit! The cave itself is absolutely wonderful — beautiful formations and a really unique atmosphere. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and super nice, making the tour fun and interesting even for our 7-year-old. I loved that we were allowed to take pictures (always a plus!), and the guide even gave us time to stop for photos along the way. The group was small, so it felt very personal and attentive. Highly recommended for families or anyone who enjoys exploring nature and learning something new!

Is a breathtaking experience 20m under ground, there is a wine cellar (you can't drink though), amazing rock formations, rock sales and tree roots, I recommend spending 30mins down there, or pay for a specialist and do an even deeper (40m) trip.

Amazing! This is so worth a visit. Only 20 mins drive from Alberobello. Spiral staircase and some ladders made this tour more interesting. But it’s prohibitive for someone with mobility challenges. Davida, the tour guide was so knowledgeable. The cave is cool at 16 degrees so take a sweater if you’re visiting in summer. €7 entry fee for adults but honestly would have paid more. Puglia’s first public cave!

Trullo Sovrano is a remarkable 18th-century conical hut that now serves as a heritage museum, offering visitors a glimpse into the traditional furnishings and artifacts of the past. Situated near Basilica dei SS Medici, this two-story trullo stands out for its grandeur and unique charm. The museum inside is not only informative but also entertaining, showcasing the diverse uses of wine throughout history.
Everything about Alberobello was wonderful! We were there in shoulder season (Mid-march), so the crowds were light and the trullis were so cool to see. The area is ticked away in a pretty average/bland looking part of town, bits worth the drive. We took a bus from Bari and did this and Matera on the same day. Definitely a highlight of our trip
Amber W — Google review
Alberobello is amazing. The whole city. It is something you see in pictures and in videos, and you say to yourself: This can’t be real. And when you are there you can’t move because you realise it was real all along. The house was very interesting. Amazingly built and was informative of how the people have lived in a trullo. It is well preserved and kept clean. The staff were nice and friendly. I think that if you visit the town, you should visit this place as well. It gives you another perspective than by just walking in the town.
Nemes I — Google review
I specifically bought a ticket in advance on Booking called “Skip the Line: Trullo Sovrano Admission Ticket”, so I wouldn’t have to wait in line under the scorching sun at the Trullo Museum. The very name of the ticket says “Skip the Line.” However, when I arrived, it turned out that pre-purchased tickets weren't being accepted at all. I was forced to stand in a half-hour queue under the blazing sun together with people who hadn’t bought any tickets in advance. The line moved very slowly because there was only one person selling and checking tickets at the entrance. I tried twice to enter without waiting in line, showing my pre-booked ticket, but was firmly refused both times. So keep in mind: even if you buy the Skip the Line: Trullo Sovrano Admission Ticket, you will still have to queue with everyone else. There’s nothing particularly special inside. I only waited in line because I had come all the way from Bari to see an authentic trullo. Considering such terrible service, this visit isn't worth even 2€. When I complained at the entrance, the staff member simply told me, “You shouldn’t buy tickets on Booking.” That’s their whole attitude toward visitors.

Remarkable and Photogenic Cultural Experience Trullo Sovrano in Alberobello is unforgettable—that’s because it’s the only two‑story trullo, now a museum showcasing traditional Puglian life and architecture. Walking through its original 18th-century rooms, you’ll see period furnishings, info panels, and even seasonal cultural events during the summer. Nestled in the picturesque coastal town of Fasano, Zoosafari Fasanolandia spans an impressive 150 acres and offers a unique blend of wildlife encounters and thrilling amusement park rides. Families can embark on an exciting drive-through safari where they’ll encounter free-roaming animals like elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, and bears. The experience continues with a tropical center showcasing fascinating reptiles such as snakes and alligators.
This was one of the most amazing and funny experiences in my entire life! This place is absolutely amazing and it is a great place for kids! The amusement park after the safari is absolutely amazing! For the safari I can highly recommend you to buy carrots, apples and cabbage in advance so that you have for more animals to feed. It is super funny and awesome that you can pet the zebras, giraffes and camels.

Amazing experience! We took the train from Bari and a bus from the train station + a 30 min walk from Fasano, as there was no shuttle bus during weekdays, but was totally worth it. We did not have a car, and were planning to take the bus, but we were given a spare car, which made the experience unforgettable.
Eugen O — Google review
Amazing experience! One literally feeds giraffes amd zebras out of the car window. Animals are so near that it cannot be compared with any other zoo. Bring 3-5 kg Carrots and buy peanuts for the monkeys! Totally worth it for any age.

The safari tour was great but the rest more la la.. Rest is the second part of walking tour including a funny train and many closed attractions. Also they forced me to pay extra parking 4 EUR although I paid a family ticket 140 EUR and they know the tour ends with parking and proceeding by foot once through the safari with the car🤣 . Pretty low and embarrassing 👎 But!! The camels are over cool. 🐫

Loved it! Safari from the car was definitely the best part! Bring carrots with you, animals will love it. It can get slow and crowded in the season, so have patience and enjoy the ride. Bring water with you cause it can take 2 hours to just go through the first part in car. You don’t have to buy tickets in advance, you can do it at the gate from your car when you arrive.

Great time spent with the family in the Safari and the park! The park is huge, you can see the animals very close, pet them! The animals are well looked after, there is no bad smell at all! Their territory is large, it looks like the animals are happy in the park! I highly recommend it!
Egle V — Google review
Me and my family had a great time! Every penny was worth it :). The animals seemed happy and freely ran around the park. After our family went through the safari we left without knowing how much is left there,so make sure you don’t make the same mistake! But even if you do,you can come back the same day with the same tickets and you can make sure you don’t miss any more fun! 5 stars❤️
Sofija L — Google review
It's well managed and unique (for Europe) place to see lots of exotic animals considerably free in a wide space from the close but safe approach of your car. There are many areas that you are allowed to touch and feed the animals (please don't give them junk or human food, you can buy carrots, peanuts etc. specially for them at the entrance) and areas where you need to stay in your car at all times but it's all worth it. The animals looks like the staff take good care of them which is very important for me considering other similar places or zoo parks in Europe. It's really family/kids friendly place. In the pedestrian area you can find other animals and different zones like reptiles and insects, lake with birds and monkeys where you can have a paid boat ride, there is a rail car (zoo metro) which you can take from one zone to another, a special monkey zone which you can visit with a caged safari style truck and feed peanuts to the animals through a special holes. There is an amusement park in the pedestrian area where you can find food and drinks and have some fun before you take off. Overall a great place for kids and families, we had amazing time there.

Take your time wandering through the narrow cobblestone streets and admiring the whitewashed houses adorned with balconies and plants. As you stroll, be sure to look out for baroque archways and traditional cummerse architecture.

Like everything in this city, the park lacks maintenance, looks (and feels) completely abandoned and there is a complete disregard for the rules. Many parts of the park have been closed to the public for a long time. People here have no common sense or understanding of the value of a beautiful park like this one.

The Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta, located at the highest point of Ostuni, is a stunning Romanesque church with a rich history. Originally built in the 13th century, it underwent reconstruction after being damaged by an earthquake in 1456 and was transformed into a Gothic-style masterpiece. Visitors are captivated by its beautiful painted ceiling and should be mindful of dressing appropriately to gain entry.

We stayed two days in ostuni, and we really wanted to visit the catherdral . We checked the opening time, it should be open. But each time we go there, the door was closed, and there is no any information about why it’s closed. I asked a lady she lived nearby, she told me Saturday should always open, I waited outside Saturday morning till almost 11:00am, it’s still not open. The catherdral should be very impressive, but we couldn’t give 2 stars. The service is too bad!

Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area is a coastal and marine nature reserve featuring a 16th-century defensive tower and visitor center that houses a museum. Unlike other beaches that lose their charm due to commercialization, Torre Guaceto remains unspoiled even after being awarded Blue-Flag status. It is a protected area that boasts of diverse fauna, including birds and snakes. The beach in the Ostuni area has white sand and beautiful sea with no plastic waste littering its shores.
If you’re looking for a super beautiful, peaceful beach experience, Torre Guaceto is an absolute gem. The beach itself is long, clean, and gorgeous, with soft sand and crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming or just chilling under the sun. There are also nice walking trails along the shore, so if you’re up for a little stroll, you can explore the area and enjoy some quiet nature vibes. If you walk all the way to the end of the beach, you’ll find barely anyone there, so it’s perfect if you want some peace and privacy away from the crowds. Getting there is really easy thanks to the shuttle service from the parking area. It’s €8 per car per day, and that includes everyone inside the car plus parking, super convenient if you don’t want to stress about finding a spot. There’s a small spiaggia attrezzata with chairs and umbrellas if you prefer some comfort, but most of the beach is spiaggia libera, so you can pick your own spot and enjoy the natural setting. The area is also mostly disabled-friendly, so it’s accessible for everyone, which is a huge plus. Overall, Torre Guaceto is perfect for anyone looking for a clean, relaxing beach with beautiful scenery, easy access, and a touch of solitude if you explore a bit. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the region!

This is a fine example of a conservation area and yet very accessible to the public . A shuttle bus service is provided from the main parking area. There are different zones of protection , no fishing , sailing and water sport areas and swimming is not encouraged in some areas . The areas are clearly designated and the public seem to be cooperating. There is a turtle hospital not open to the public due to stress that this would cause the animals. There are long scenic , tranquil paths to walk but beware of the erosions and danger in some of the cliff tops. The beaches and bays are a haven for wildlife and the public alike this place deserves more publicity but maybe its better left to the public to discover how wonderful it is?
Danny P — Google review
Sorry but calling Torre Guaceto a natural reserve is a joke... The beach is dirty, with microplastics and other waste, and due to the shallow water the dirt remains in the water almost up to the buoys. Beach is overcrowded in August as could be expected, yet it has only two toilets and not even a shower. Booking online or not makes no difference: the parking is huge and accepts anyone who pays the 5€ at the entrance, and then everyone queues up for the shuttle. But the small „train“ doesn’t bring you to the beach, instead it drops you off some 700m away... and even in peak periods there is only one "train". Queues under the scorching sun are very long for both journeys (wait at least 20 minutes). The sea is ok, but neither better nor worse than the other coves along the coast. Don‘t waste your time & money here!
Grunz P — Google review
Just beautiful, a bit of everything white beachside, grotto's, ruins. Love that so much of this area from Bari on down the coast isn't the over devolved beaches of Spain and France.

- It's a wonderful place for a good walk along the seaside, the sea is simply amazing, only downside the rubbish coming from the sea get stuck on the beaches and doesn't get removed because "it's a reserve".

Great beach club with umbrella and lounger areas on both sand and lawn. Nice little bar with good coffee, choice alcoholic drinks and some decent lunch options. Sea here is blue and shallow for a fair way out. Worth a visit. We paid €25 for umbrella and two loungers for the day (Aug '25).

This is the best beach in this region, the staff tries, not always everything goes without comments, but... clean (we were in many places in this area), normal distance between sunbeds, good bar, nice restaurant, tasty food, good beach line with sand. The only comment, a lot of staff, need to work for beter coordination and communication.

Really nice beach bar.The sea is amazing and the grass area is very comfortable.Drinks and food was ok the only problem would be the prices🤣€60 for 2 sun-beds and an umbrella is a bit extreme for Brindisi. If i was at Amalfi beach i would be expecting these prices.Generally one of the best beaches around Brindisi.

The location is great and well taken care off. But the staff is 100% not interested in taking care of the guests. So much staff but such a low level of service and passion. Also food was disappointing. It’s a shame that the staff has such a low interest in hospitality. Better go to long beach club which is at least authentic.

Tempio San Giovanni al Sepolcro

Sights & Landmarks
San Giovanni Al Sepolcro, also known as the Temple of the Holy Sepulcher, is a captivating 12th-century Norman church located in Brindisi's historic center. This enchanting site is a priceless historical gem that holds countless human stories within its walls. Visitors can explore the Roman ruins beneath the temple and learn about its significance during the Crusades and Roman period. The helpful guides provide valuable insights into the Templars and medieval history, making it an ideal destination for history enthusiasts.
This church was built at the end of the 11th Century AC by a Norman King who was returning from a Crusade, as Brindisi's harbor was the main departure point to Middle East during the age of the Crusaders (1096-1291). The interior is designed in the shape of a "horse shoe" with eight columns in concentric circle, just like the Cathedral of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. According to nowadays standards the temple is not a tall building, so it's not visible from distance. Actually, all the buildings around are taller. Anyway it well worth visiting, especially for the marble lions supporting the entrance pillars, for the indoor wall paint, partially visible and for the green patio, where the visitors could admire some beautiful orange and lemon trees, as well as ancient tombstones, some of them dating back from Roman era. Visited the place in January and the citrus trees in the patio were full of ripe fruits.

An amazing experience that I highly recommend to all those who love history. The place is a priceless historical jewel enriched with many amazing human stories engraved in every inch of the building. At first I entered and besides appreciating the old building I couldn't understand its meaning. I asked the gentleman from whom I bought the ticket (€3) if he could give me some information. After helping some other tourists he came to me. I thought that maybe he was going to tell me a sentence or two. But this gentleman explained to me all the history from the time it was built in 1743 till the last additions to the ceiling that were recently added. He related such an amazing story with so much passion that I was feeling transported away to the times of the templars who built this place to pray before leaving for Jerusalem. He explained about the columns, their alignment, why one seems to be inclined, the three different layers of frescoes and what they show, how they used to be painted on fresh Mata, the doors, the altar, the engraved signs on the outside walls, the mosaic flooring and everything else. I am so grateful to this gentleman. I thank him as he truly made my visit an amazing one.

This is a very small Church set in the very center of old town Brindisi. It was built in the 11c by a Norman prince who returned from the Crusade. Right away, it became a pilgrimage praying place for those heading to Holy Land and thanking place for those who returned safe. The Church has a circular layout, modeled after the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem with 8 columns inside and 13 c frescoes

Customers have praised their personalized service and remote purchasing assistance, highlighting the exceptional quality of their products and the valuable support provided by the team.

During my visit to the mill, I had the chance to taste both of their extra virgin olive oils. The Boschino immediately stood out with its fruity intensity, perfect for fresh salads and for adding a vibrant note when drizzled over bread. The Santa Lucia, on the other hand, is more balanced and versatile—I find it excellent for everyday cooking as well as finishing warm dishes where a smoother flavor is preferred. I also enjoyed trying some of their flavored oils, which add a creative touch in the kitchen and make it easy to enhance simple meals with new aromas. Finally, I really appreciate the new Bag in Box format: it keeps the oil fresh longer, is practical to use, and is a smart solution for households that consume olive oil regularly. Overall, a great experience both at the mill and now at home in my kitchen. Highly recommended!

Bring water, it will get hot in the forest area.

A national park that offers several forest and coastal paths. The best attraction, however, is a short climb to the hill where one of the defense towers is located. For a few hours you can experience nature in the full sense of the word - from forests, through the sea, to the mountains.

A great park to spend a peaceful day and enjoy nature! There are options for all audiences, from children to the elderly and it is very accessible for everyone. A beautiful beach, picnic tables and shade to relax and read a book. It is also possible to go hiking and explore every corner of the park. Beautiful views of the sea, I recommend it!

Gorgeous place, well worth the 20 min walk. The return trip is rather steep uphill, so be ready for that. Parking wasn't a problem, we drove south past the main parking lot and found a smaller one, from which the walk is shorter. There's a shuttle from the larger parking lot, so check your options/preferences beforehand.

Very beautiful and relaxing natural reserve. Ideal for taking a short hike. Apart from one crowded beach, the rest of the reserve is sparsely visited.

Underrated and not so popular place which is simply beautiful. You can spend almost whole day there.

Beautiful place, great for swimming and sunbathing. Has a few stalls selling drinks and food, the walk through the forest was lovely. There is a fresh water spring that flows in to the sea, it's freezing but very refreshing.

Beautiful bay with clear water. To reach it you will have to park your car outside (there are a couple of options for 3 / 4 euro per day and then walk the path through the woods. It's rocky and steep at times but most people walk it in flip flops ans survive it

Stabilimento Balneare Piccolo Lido in Gallipoli is renowned for serving the best Aperol Spritz at a great value. Visitors can enjoy this refreshing drink along with delicious and satisfying aperitivo offerings. While some have praised the quality of food, others have noted that the service could be improved. Nonetheless, it remains a top choice for those seeking a delightful beachside experience in Gallipoli.
We were very satisfied with both the beach and the restaurant. There were three of us, and we paid €25, being offered a free spot, which was very pleasant. The young man managing the beach was very kind and polite. We also tried the restaurant—the dishes were excellent, and the staff were very friendly and smiling. If you want to have a great time, I 100% recommend it.

Location is wonderful very central of Gallipoli and Lido San Giovanni as well. Bar service is good enough but restaurant service is worst. Price is higher than quality and stuffs are not in good mood sometimes. Owner is gentle but not look after enough in quality of service.

Best (real) aperol spritz in Gallipoli and also best priced. The Aperitivo with the food is also very good and filling!

We stayed on the beach 🏖️ paying 40 Euros for 1 beach umbrella and 2 sunbeds. The space between umbrellas was just enough to walk to the beach or the bar. No privacy no space no air. The restaurant is the worse. My sister had spaghetti con cozze (mussels) which was tasteless and we questioned the freshness of the seafood. My pasta was decent. Starter (plate with some fried Street food appetizers) was unremarkable. No booze. We paid 50 euros. Owners need to realise that tourists are no fouls, they simply won't go back next year if they don't change the quality of the services to provided.

Amazing location with beautiful secluded private beach away from The crowd, perfect for family or if you want to get away from the chaotic of baia verde during summer. 1 star because of the staff, worst attitude, unfriendly even if we were so polite when ordering and stuff. Oh well, can’t have it all.
