Lovely clean beach..big amusement centre with funfair and food shops on pier..lovely atmosphere..big ferris wheel..mini golf..excellent all inclusive wristband price which includes 5 different thing for kids including 3d encounter miningolf fun fair rides 50 free tokens and 5 arcade game rides..what more could you ask for..what a bargain value..£20 instead of £30 for a wristband when booked a day in advance online..I would suggest anyone to visit here..been here around 6 times in the past 2 years..booked caravans around here 3 times..and looking forward to coming more..also came by train with a bunch of friends..we enjoyed so much.

Great place to spend time with family and friends. Lots of entertainment, food stalls and even a pub. Or you can just walk alongside the beach and learn some history by visiting the Martello towers built during the Napoleonic wars and were part of the costal defence system

Visited Southend and Brighton Pier. Give Clacton Pier a try. Beach and pier were great, but places to eat and drink were area specific Need more small soft ice cream shops. Clean though. Recommended 👍

Beautiful clacton pier always holds avents for kids Halloween 6 weeks holidays etc… massive restaurant inside with endless fruit machine and games followed by more rides on pier outside which pushes far to the end of pier always nice to visit and walk along seafront towards Holland on sea

Great value all day wristband if bought in advance unlocks pretty much everything at the pier. We spent 7 hours here and had great fun. The stuff were all so friendly and added to the fun. Thank you for a great day out.

It is an excellent place to visit the seaside. It was clean all over also car parking, toilets, sitting and eating place overall very good wonderful times I spent.

this is worth a visit has a very soft sandy beach which is well maintained and kept clean take a picnic enjoy a nice sunny day if you have young children be with them if they go in the water as tides are strong there is also an amusements to spend on the machines and much more the food is nice good day out

This is a lovely park, well maintained and with a diverse landscape, covering sport grounds, a play ground, a flower garden, tree lined walking paths, a lake, a koi pond, a sandpit and most famously - a castle. It’s great in any weather but summer and autumn are the best seasons to admire the spectacle of colors in the park.

We visited & stayed in Colchester to see James & Texas, as part of the summer series. Decided to visit castle & took part in the tour. Tour guide Gillian was fabulous, talked to us a lot & great knowledge. Castle is very interesting. We had fun in Colchester & found the people to be very friendly & helpful.

Saw Craig David at Lower Castle Park. Helpful staff, toilets were close by, amazing experience. One negative, if you don't know the area very well it's very hard to find the car park for events. I paid for parking but couldn't find where the car park was! 🤔😕

Castle Park in Colchester is the perfect spot to unwind on a warm summer’s day. The gentle rustle of leaves, the fresh breeze drifting through the trees, and the laughter of children playing create such a peaceful atmosphere. The playground is beautifully designed, giving kids plenty of space to run, climb, and explore. There’s even a drinking water tap close by, a small but thoughtful touch that keeps little adventurers refreshed during their play. The park is dotted with tall, leafy trees, offering cool shade and a sense of calm no matter how hot the day gets. Walking through, you can’t help but feel you’ve stepped into a place where history and nature blend seamlessly. The only thing missing from my visit was stepping inside the castle itself. It would have been incredible to wander through its ancient halls and imagine the stories it could tell, especially since it was my very first trip to Colchester.

Castle park concert - don't go VIP it's a complete waste of money. You get a spot furthest away from the stage with minimal views of the stage. The toilets were nice, but that's it. And whoever put the flags up needs sacking. They blocked the screens!!!

Just stunning really, it's obviously a well cared for park. I hope they will renovate the play lake one day. However, It was nice to see some of the old boats have been repurposed as planters.

Had a lovely day out here plenty of animals to see,some were hiding in their beds as it was a bit chilly but you could peep at them there. There's walk through areas to get up close. Plenty of food and drink cafes dotted through the zoo and picnic benches too. Definitely worth a visit.

Love a zoo trip!! such an enjoyable experience. Great variety of animals to see and even though it can be very busy you still see and enjoy it all. The animals all have great spacious enclosures and plenty of items in for them to enjoy. There is plenty of things to see and to do which is great. The Gift shop at the end is brilliant as well, has a great variety of things for all ages.

What an amazing zoological zoo. It's started off as wet and windy but cleared up as there was many indoor areas to visit. The meerkats took abit of coaching to get them outside but eventually came out. Feeding the giraffes was really good and exciting for the children. Well grown ups. The staff were really helpful and knew exactly where to send you when lost for the next adventure around the park. So many animals and looked in good care. Lots of schools visiting which was good to see. Well done teams.

Had a very nice day. Very nice experience during the visit. The zoo is very easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff is very nice and helpful. You can stroll around the park in a relaxing enjoyable atmosphere. The zoo is easily accesible for wheel chair users and the benches around the park come in handy for those who have issues walking longer distances. The zoo beeing situated in a field away from towns, villages is very nice and gives you a better touch with nature. The large animal section is very nice. Also note that animals might take a nap exactly when you want to film or take a photo of them...with patience you can still catch them moving around. The restaurant offers good food and you can enjoy the food outside in nice weather. Kids playground close to the restaurant. Toilets also around the park are clean. You can get a ride on a mini train. The souvenir shop is nicely organised, affordable prices. The plush animals are very nicely made. Definitely worth a day visiting. Best to buy tickets in advance. You'll find a nice biodiversity animal range. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Better buy tickets in advance or an year pass if you plan to visit more times.

Really enjoyable day and a huge variety of animals to see. It’s really well laid out and the animals all looked happy. The Africa section was impressive. The elephants and giraffes seemed happy. Every turn you took there was something new to discover. Food options were a bit hit and miss with long waits for average not even hot food. That was the only down side but went for the animals hence the 5 star review. The green anacondas were stunning as were the chimpanzees

I had an absolutely fantastic time visiting Colchester Zoo! One of the highlights of the day was the amazing train ride that took us on a scenic journey around the park, giving us a chance to see the majority of the animals from a unique and relaxing perspective. It was such a fun and convenient way to explore the zoo. Another great feature was the variety of informative talks held at different animal enclosures throughout the day. These talks gave us the chance to learn more about the animals, their behaviors, and conservation efforts, all while getting a closer look at them. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. Overall, it was a brilliant experience—perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals. Highly recommend visiting Colchester Zoo for a memorable and educational day out!

A great day out. I came with my six and ten year old and they loved the day. We didn't get to see all the animals but we did see most of them. We were there from 11.30 to 6pm l. There were plenty of places to sit and eat lunch/snacks. Lots of playgrounds, exhibits and interactive places.

Newly reopened Norwich castle 2025. Well worth the visit, it's a combination of walking around a historical castle, museum exhibits and artefacts, fine art, natural history and a WW2 exhibit. There are screenplays/shows in the great hall which briefly go over the history of the castle, and there are good views out the windows and across the battlements. All items in exhibits are labelled and described, and there are display boards around the actual castle interior explaining parts of daily medieval life or the significance of certain design/areas of the castle. There are historical arms and armour on display if after pieces for artistic reference. The well is very very deep.

It was great to see the castle after the recent renovations. It's a fine building with some great exhibits and interactive elements for children. The views from the battlements are great, especially on a clear day. It's a bit pricey and there's no senior citizen discounts, otherwise it would be five stars

What an amazing place right on our doorstep. I've lived in Norwich 10 years and never been to the castle and what a gem of a place this is. I can't say how much it's improved since it's renovation, but wow there's so much to see! From the basement to the battlement they have honestly outdone themselves. We didn't get a chance to see it all sadly as we had two toddlers, but what we did see was amazing and definitely worth the price of admission.

I brought my 1 year old daughter here today. We had a lovely couple of hours exploring and taking some lovely photos. My only criticism is that we couldn't get around the whole castle as the lifts were out of order. My daughter was on her trike, and I wasn't prepared to carry her up and down stairs. We explored the museum and what we could of the castle. Plenty of activities for children. Very friendly and informative staff :)

Went to Norwich Castle today. It has been completely restored and is great. Only negative is maybe too restored. Looks almost new. Really good museum and art gallery too.

A very popular venue for a wedding ceremony and it's easy to see why! Norwich Castle, recently referbished is a gorgeous wedding ceremony venue. Slap bang in the centre of the city, it gives stunning views of the city, and the room is beatiful. Have a peek at the images to see what your wedding ceremony could look like!

Renovation work was excellent. Museum very good- certainly the Norfolk regiment one. Not into art or taxidermy but if you are there is a lot to see. Videos in the great room are informative. A little disappointed that there are no images of before restoration and the after work- would have been great to know the transformation if never visited prior imo. Well worth a visit.

Visited Banham Zoo this week and had the most amazing time. The animals are so well cared for with outstanding enclosures. We did The Big Cat Experience which was well worth the money as you get to spend time with and feed several big cats. Highly recommend!

Absolute brilliant place, we got there my chance, was in the area with some time to spare and discovered this brilliant diamond. As an experience, I would say it's the best Zoo I've been so far in the UK. I mean, they have a snow leopard. It's a completely brilliant place and just can't wait to go there again.

We decided to go on one of the hottest days so not many of the animals were out. It’s a very big area and caters brilliantly for the children. I love the fact you can hire buggies and mobility scooters, the train was always packed and there was plenty of staff around. I took off a star as even though it was a good day out wasn’t the best zoo we have visited and if we didn’t take our time we would have been round it in an hour! We loved the tropical area so much.

Nice enough zoo and can’t argue with the value after using the kids go free promotion for half term. The park itself is clean if not a little rundown. The selection of animals is disappointing and not anywhere near as good as Africa Alive. The food outlets are fantastic with all being spotlessly clean, excellent value and really delicious food. What a shame it’s such an utter shambles. Queue for ages to get in only to be met with a disgruntled team member who would rather do ANYTHING than speak to customers. We had prepaid the trick or treat packs and was told we could get these in the gift shop so we then had to queue up again for well over half hour for a lanyard and a a little pencil. These “packs” could have been at the main entrance. The staff on the gift shop were painfully slow and unorganised making the wait even longer and allowing multiple people to queue jump. There’s lots of work going on round the park to update and introduce enclosures which is exciting and we look forward to seeing.

Haven't been here for years and took my 7 year old granddaughter. Can't blame zoo but weather was so hot all the animals were hiding in shade so we're hard to see. Some enclosures and areas looked tatty and would have like a few more interactive things to interest children and adults around. We did love the train ride which was very popular.

I had a fantastic time at the zoo! The animals looked well taken care of, and the enclosures were spacious and clean. There was a wide variety of animals to see, from tiger to penguins and reptiles. I was amazed of the animals. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions. Definitely worth the visit. 😍

We had a wonderful day at Hylands Park! It’s such a beautiful and spacious place, perfect for families. The kids loved the adventure castle play area, and there’s so much open space to run, play, and explore. The gardens are lovely for a stroll, and it’s a great spot for a picnic or just enjoying the fresh air. A perfect family day out surrounded by nature! 🌳☀️🏰

Hylands Park is a huge and beautiful open space filled with majestic old oak trees and plenty of room to relax, picnic, or simply take in the scenery. There’s something for everyone, with a children’s play area, walking and running tracks, spots for dog walking and bike riding, and lovely gardens to wander through at your own pace. With convenient on-site parking, bathroom facilities, and food, it’s an easy and enjoyable place to spend a peaceful day outdoors.

It's a beautiful park, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed it there; unfortunately, due to the weather, we didn't get to look around.

Beautiful large open space with massive veteran oak trees, wide open space for ball games and family get-togethers. They also have a fantastic large play park for the kids that looks like a castle and is all made from wood. It’s located close to the car park and toilets. Good clean toilet facilities. They also have a large pleasure garden which is well cared for with established plants, duck pond and seasonal bedding plant displays. I particularly like the cafe where you can sit inside, or they have lots of outdoor seating for dog walkers. You can get coffee and snacks, or they do really nice fancy brunch and lunch options. You can park at the other car park right next to the cafe and shops if you don’t want to walk far- it’s very close to the pleasure gardens too. I love how wide open this place is for my kids as they can run and ride their bikes and have plenty of freedom. There are also geocaches on the site of that’s your interest.

Had a lovely evening at the safari drone show, very clever. The only thing I would say, going on and getting parked was well done but there could have been a little more direction when leaving. But the show, food and entertainment were very good.

Absolutely fascinating place. It is wonderful that these facilities have survived to this day and now we can learn more about workhouses and expand our knowledge about British history. We were very lucky to come just before an excursion started. I’m not sure how regular excursions are but I undoubtedly advise you to attend one if you have a chance. Caroline was our guide. She was very knowledgeable and very passionate about this place and its history. There is a cosy welcoming cafe, a good place to relax and recharge before continuing to explore this place. There is a farm you can visit. A children’s playground as well inside the facilities. Tickets are a bit pricey but it is worth a visit.

Great day out, you really need to allow at least half a day to see everything. Loved the village street old store, post office pub and cottage. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the workhouse had engaging exhibits. The farm and tractor ride were informative and great for youngsters (and the young at heart!) We had a fabulous ploughman's lunch in the cafe. The staff were all really friendly and knowledgeable, we really enjoyed our day and highly recommend this place.

So much to see and do. The workhouse was a history lesson in itself and the volunteers were friendly and helpful. There were carriages and steam engines, a small village complete with it's local alehouse, school and chapel. We arrived around lunchtime on Sunday and enjoyed a light lunch before walking around. Unfortunately for us we did not leave enough time to visit the farm but we will arrive earlier next time to fit this in. We will definitely be returning.

This is a fantastic day out. Lots to see, do and learn. The farm is lovely and the people on the farm are super knowledgeable and happy to interact with the kids. The lakeside walk is a must and this is where you will find the 'stamps'. The playground was a big hit and the cafe serves delicious food.

Brilliant!! So much better then we had expected- we spent the whole day here and didn’t even get round to the farm and play area which both looked great ! Every room, except had interactive bits - the children had a truly enjoyable day - we joined in with crafts in the chapel, dressed up all over the place and learnt so much. I would highly recommend this place to families. Lots of places to sit and eat a picnic or there is a little cafe. Staff were brilliant really friendly and helpfully.

Informative text and multimedia accompanying interesting historic artefacts in the museum. Good value cafe. Very friendly staff and lovely little farm with young piglets when I went! Succeeds in conveying what rural Norfolk life was like in the 19th century.

What a great day out, we took our older mothers and they loved it! It covers the history of the workhouse over time but also social history with recreated rooms and cottages over the ages. The cafe was excellent, great quiche and fabulously friendly staff. All of the staff were amazing, offering us motor scooters for our mum's to use to get to the farm. Thank you so much.

Great place, hired bikes at the store on site and the whole family loved it. Great for kids and adults, playground and adventure trails in the beautiful Thetford forest. Didn't have chance to visit the Cafe on site but looked very nice....the parking fair could be reduced a bit for people hiring bikes or visiting GOApe ( we spent over £80 on bike hire and £15 in parking fee ) but the facilities are all well kept so it is just my opinion not a criticism.

What a magical place! There is so much to do! Stations, GO APE, playgrounds, Walks. The small kids and grown kids had a great time! If your looking for an active day out, this is a great and non-expensive option. We did pick up some rubbish... people, please do better! 🚮

We visited High Lodge today for the second time within the last month. It’s a great place, especially for kids, and well worth the cost of parking. It was a busy day, but we were still able to find a table for a simple and small birthday celebration. Although there is plenty to do without paying for the additional Go Ape activities. If you do want to participate in the Go Ape activities then I recommend booking ahead to ensure a spot. The cafe is a little expensive; however, it’s comparable to similar types of places. Also, be warned that cell service is pretty bad (even using their WiFi) and plan ahead.

We stopped here for lunch on a long drive. The play parks were great for all ages and offered a brilliant variety of park paraphernalia. Despite it being a bin free site there was barely any rubbish and both the parks and forest were really well maintained. Ginormous teepee slide (pictured) was a highlight for all my kids!

Very nice Forrest! Great for picnic, birthday parties outside (when warm), cycling and walks. Plenty to do for a family. I believe to have seen bike rentals there too, and BBQ stands.

I took my grandson to the halloween light trail, the staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was easy. He had a great time o the rides, and the trains brilliant.

Nice area for sports (cycling, Go Ape, archery). Lots of play areas for children, zip line, sound garden, walking trails. Cafe and food to go take away. Could do with better maps/marked trails for sound garden, gruffalo etc, you don't know what's there unless you come across it randomly! Parking is expensive, no concession for disability. Cafe as you'd expect. Would love to see more childrens activities/wildlife stuff even only at weekends /holidays.

Such a beautifully presented platter of delicious cheese and crackers which we thoroughly enjoyed with our cups of tea! Unfortunately however my partner being a 6’4 when used their loo, bumped his head as they have a low ceiling. Also, my partner had ordered another cup of tea that was served in another table which made him wait longer for his extra hot drink. As we explored in the field, we smelt a wonderful fresh fragrance of Lavender! It did not look as purple anymore as I am aware they were going to be harvested soon when we went on 07.08.25 However, the Sunflower field did not disappoint us as they were in their full bloom and most yellow. Nice day out! We love The Barn! Recommended. Be careful with your head at the loos though.

Visited Hitchin Lavender for the first time yesterday to pick our pumpkins for Halloween. We had a fantastic time. Despite the big crowds the pumpkin patch itself was full of loads of large and undamaged pumpkins, perfect for carving. The decorations were fun and well thought out. There was face painting, games and a clown present for the kids. It very aimed at families and children however me and my fiancée still had a great time as a couple. Both the cafes were busy but the staff were handling the queues quickly and politely, plus the pumpkin spiced latte and Halloween luxury hot chocolate were worth the wait as they were both delicious. I will definitely visit next summer as a result of how good it was for the Halloween season.

The Weather was hot ☀️ and nice 😊 All staff were nice and friendly. The Lavender Fields was vibrant with colour and the smells were amazing. Food was delicious 😋 and delightful. The lavender ice cream 🍦 was amazing. Lavender lemonade was delicious and very refreshing. Overall we had a fantastic experience. Everyone should visit Hitchin Lavender. I’ve come with my family from Manchester.

Hitchin Lavender is such a beautiful place to visit. The fields are stunning, filled with rows of vibrant lavender that make the perfect setting for a peaceful walk and lovely photos. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, and the scent of lavender everywhere is just amazing. The café is a nice touch too, offering tasty treats and drinks. We recently visited Hitchin Lavender Farm and had an absolutely amazing experience! The whole day felt like a perfect escape into nature — beautifully scenic, peaceful, and wonderfully pet-friendly. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning sea of purple stretching across the fields. The aroma of fresh lavender in the air was soothing, and the views were breathtaking — perfect for photos and for simply taking it all in. What made the visit even more special was that we brought our pet along — and they had a blast! Hitchin Lavender is genuinely welcoming to pets, and it showed. One of the biggest highlights was the pet ice cream available on-site. Our furry friend devoured it and couldn’t get enough! It’s such a thoughtful touch for animal lovers. We also tried the lavender ice cream ourselves — and wow! It was creamy, floral, and incredibly refreshing. A truly unique treat that we still talk about. The food options in general were lovely, with plenty of choices for snacks and drinks, and the outdoor seating made it easy to relax and soak up the atmosphere. Before we left, we couldn’t resist browsing the shop. We ended up buying several lavender products — from oils and soaps to beautifully packaged dried lavender. Everything smelled divine and made perfect gifts (and keepsakes for ourselves). Whether you’re coming for a peaceful walk, a family day out, or just to spoil your pet a little, Hitchin Lavender is 100% worth the visit. A beautifully designed and built cathedral. Are there better ones - depends upon what is considered better, this one is full of history and stunning architectural details. There was a 5 pound charge to visit the chancel but I did not think that excessive considering the maintenance costs on this building. If you visiting Peterborough, this is not to be missed. Also a lovely place for some self reflection and hop out of the daily trials of life.

What a great cathedral. The architecture is amazing and walking inside its so spacious and the art work is amazing. Such a peaceful place. The cathedral is right in the city centre of Peterborough and you can’t miss it with the walk way leading to it. The cathedral looks so beautiful and grand from the outside and when you walk in it looks so nice

An impressive building with the three arches. The Nave is beatiful too with the wooden ceilings, etc. An amazing building. But, I was disappointed to find that in order to visit the chancel and other areas at the back of the cathedral, I would have to pay an entrance fee of £5.50, you have to buy tickets at the information desk. There is no clear signage of that being the case, nothing to inform me of this. You need to be more clear as it does not say on your website or indeed on any signage that I looked at that there is a fee.

Like majority of Cathedrals in the UK, Peterborough cathedral has stunning Gothic architecture and a real sense of history. The intricate ceilings and beautiful stained glass are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect place to pause and reflect.

I have visited a lot of Cathedrals over the year across England, and this has to be one of best that l have seen. l was very impressive with both the inside and the outside of this cathedral. I would highly recommend coming here. The cathedral is free to visted, but there is a donation box/card reader if you would like give something.

Superlative example of a cathedral lots of spectacular details and information and friendly and helpful staff. Gift shop didn't seem open and if they did contactless donations we would have.

This designer outlet isn’t as big as some I’ve been to but there is a good selection of shops including a M&S, Osprey, Levi’s Cadbury Chocolate Shot and much more. I really enjoyed Blud Diamond the garden centre with lush outdoor and indoor plants, gifts, books, household items and restaurant. The Osprey shop has good quality bags and wallets, and the craft shop is well stocked. My favourite area was the extensive well laid out gardens with water features, seating and woods, this is not something you expect to find at a designer outlet. It does feel like an outlet shopping centre because the prices are really competitive.

Springfield in Spalding is an absolute gem, it's the perfect combination of a fantastic shopping destination and a beautiful, peaceful place to relax. It's truly got everything you could want for a great day out First off, the shopping is brilliant. The outlet stores offer a huge range of brands, from high-street favourites like M&S and Joules to well-known names like Clarks and Levi's. You can find everything from clothes and shoes to homeware and gifts, all at great prices. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours browse and still feel like you only scratched the surface. The layout is also very pleasant, so it doesn't feel overwhelming like a huge indoor mall. But what really sets Springfield apart is the stunning Festival Gardens. It's a wonderful surprise to find such a beautiful, landscaped space right no ext to the shops. The gardens are an absolute highlight, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. The themed areas, water features, and woodland walks make for a lovely stroll. It's a fantastic spot to take a break, enjoy a coffee, or just admire the beautiful flowers. The gardens are clearly well-cared for, and it's a real joy to walk around them. The fact that these two elements - the great shopping and the gorgeous gardens - are together in one place makes Springfield so special. It's a place where you can shop until you drop, then step outside into a serene and inspiring garden to relax and recharge. The whole atmosphere is welcoming and enjoyable, making it a wonderful experience for everyone. I loved every minute of my visit and I'm already looking forward to going back.

As a wheelchair user this place was great to visit. Nice smooth floors both inside the shops and in the street area. Plenty of parking and everything was clean and tidy. We visited the garden centre cafe for food and weren’t disappointed. Grandchildren loved shopping for accessories and daughter in law found a birthday present she liked easily.

Not a bad place to go shopping. I detest shopping. Here is a good spot to whip around a wide range of shops grabbing all the bits you have needed to get for the last few years and then grab a coffee to celebrate getting it over with. Parking is excellent, always room for my camper van, I like a big space. Reasonably priced.

Very clean and spacious, a variety of shops to look around. Adventure land was great fun for the kids. The ducks were not at all afraid of humans which shows how well they are cared for. Sitting around the ponds was quite peaceful. I cant find fault with anything at all.

The restaurant in the garden center is very nice, with a large room, comfortable seating, delicious meals, and a very large selection of gluten-free desserts. Everyone will find something for themselves there.

Caught out by the parking charge . Thought he first hour was free - I was wrong. Got stuck at the gate with about 20 cars behind me . Called for help and the attendant could not have been more unfriendly. Told me to reverse directly at the queue of cars behind to make them move - I was in a van with zero rear view and aware that the queue behind were not feeling hospitable! I would have happily paid a charge by cc at this point but that could not be offered and they instructed me to either force the cars behind me to move or to leave the van and block the exit while I walked back to a pay station - accepting my mistake was my fault , the response from this team was pathetic.

Honestly one of the best days out I've ever had with my daughter. Gorgeous, well maintained paths everywhere. Bird hides to watch over the lakes (while she napped). A big, airy cafe with delicious coffee. Lovely museum with staff who clearly adore what they do! We had so much fun talking to the people who were making a dugout canoe with bronze age tools, and exploring the garden, especially after seeing the spinning and weaving and learning about the plants that make the dyes. My daughter adored playing in the adventure play, of course. There's running water and sand, cute little play beach huts, a mural, slides, more than enough to entertain a toddler for hours! It was really lovely and plenty of seating and shade all around. We will definitely be back with my husband for another full day and hopefully add in some cycling 😊😊 Overall, really cannot say enough about how great the site was but even more so how wonderful every staff and volunteer was everywhere we went during our visit. The kindness, patience, and passion was just beyond what you could ask and we really appreciate it!

Absolutely lovely day out with all of my family which included 19 13 13 10 & 10 year old. There was so much to do and see around the whole of the lakes. My kids especially loved the assault course as did my partner (a little to much if you ask me) 😅. The only thing that I found was missing was bins on the walk ways I understand its for safety reasons but the amount of plastic bottles that were just dropped on the floor was awful. My kids did pick up the bottles they could whilst walking round but had to keep hold of them until the bin at the playground area. Other than that we had a fantastic time. Finished of with a lovely picnic near the playground for my youngest 2.

Love visiting here! Went to a netwalking event held in their conference room with walk around small lake. Facilities were clean and food was delicious (bacon sandwich). Great provision for tea, coffee and selection of cold drinks for the event. Staff were friendly and helpful. Outside facilities are the best part, beautiful nature and well kept paths. Usually you need to pay for car park but as we were at an event, parking was free.

I recently spent a few hours at Stanwick Lakes Country Park (Northamptonshire) and had a thoroughly relaxed and memorable time. The setting is beautiful — wide open spaces, shimmering lakes, and plenty of winding paths through nature. Whether you’re walking seriously or just pottering, the place has a lovely peaceful pace. There’s also an impressive adventure playground (and zip-line/assault-course type features) that means if you’re with kids you’ll very likely hear squeals of delight from the central hub of the park. On the nature side, it’s just as good. The bird-hides, wetland spaces and trails provide a chance to slow down, sit on a bench and watch things happen quietly around you. It’s not just manic play and activity—there are corners of genuine calm and reflection. Like all UK parks do go prepared if it’s been raining: as paths can be muddy and may be dry foot wear

What a great place! So much for the kids to do and see. The water feature is great, the climbing frame is well kept and very safe. The toilets are always kept clean and there is a great choice for food and drinks. Actually they have really nice coffee which is rare. Would be good with a few more benches as there is only a few compared to how many visitors they get but bring a picnic blanket and you'll be fine

A very lovely Nature Reserve. Trails are great for riding on, there's lots to see and do. Very pretty area to visit. And the play areas for kids are fantastic too!

Spent a couple of hours here with my daughter this morning. After building a Minecraft money box, ice scream and bacon roll in the cafe, spent just over an hour trolling the outdoor play area, taking a beating from the vertical twisty slide lol.. The venue has lots to offer , walks and activities, including the previous indoor play area now used for arts and crafts.. nice little venue for the children and adults alike. Friendly polite staff and informative of upcoming events , such as trails , arts and crafts etc..

Burghley House is really impressive and worth seeing. The building itself is huge and full of history, with amazing details inside and out. Walking through the rooms feels like stepping back in time, and there’s so much to look at you could easily spend hours there. The staff were friendly and happy to answer questions, which made the visit even better. Outside views of the house are just as stunning, especially if the weather is good. It’s the kind of place that makes you go “wow” when you first see it.

It's a huge pile of a place with plenty to see, enormous gardens designed by Capability Brown and a wealth of treasures on view. They are a bit economical with the truth regarding where the money actually came from: if truth be told, political fingers were very much in the till several centuries ago. Clearly nothing has changed! To be frank, I found it rather soulless and dark, especially on an autumn day that started somewhat gloomily. You may love it; I have seen country homes that I warmed to a lot more than this.

What a venue! So much history, so much style. We had our work conference here and it was amazing, the staff were attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, pastries and tea or coffee to start, mini fish and chips or vegetarian option, then charcuteri to finish. I look forward to revisiting to see the house. The House is closed for private functions every Friday & typically, I went on a Friday! 🤦 The walking trails, cafe & shop are still open though & I managed to get a few photos of the outside of the house. It is absolutely stunning & although I may have been able to get some more shots on the other side of the house, it was absolutely sweltering so I contented myself with these & will capture the rest when I can actually visit the property fully at some point. Definitely recommended, just not on a Friday!

The most beautiful palace we have ever visited. It is clear that the owners put great effort into ensuring visitors have access to a wealth of information and a truly enriching experience. The part open for sightseeing is absolutely magnificent – stunning ceiling paintings, the enchanting Heavenly Room, the impressive kitchen, and the elegant library hall. From the windows, you can admire the garden, not accessible to visitors, yet captivating with its carefully and imaginatively trimmed shrubs. The park area is vast, with sections available for free walks as well as paid entry. One of the highlights was spotting a herd of deer behind the fence, including two rare white ones. Truly breathtaking!

A beautiful house well preserved and the art and paintings are incredible. However it cost £22 to go in to the house and you only see a small part of the house. Couldn't go up to the very top and missed alot of levels. The garden is nice to explore with all the waterfalls

Amazing country house and well worth a day out. We drove just under two hours each way to get there and the schlep was totally justified. We spent about and hour and a half each in the gardens and house. The entrance price was £22 each on the door. There are a few options for food, including the Orangery restaurant and Garden Café. Food and drink is reasonably priced, good quality and offers plenty of choice. Souvenirs also cheaper than I have come to expect in such places. Parking is ample and located not too far from the house and gardens. The house is stunning. You don't see too much of it as the family is still living there, but what you do so - the State Rooms - are steeped in history and full of incredible treasures including the largest collection of Chinese and Japanese porcelain outside Asia, stunning examples of marquetry and some incredible murals and celling scenes by Antonio Verrio. The Hell Staircase was a highlight for us. There are lots of friendly volunteers and a fantastic audio guide (priced at £3) to help you along. The gardens are expanisive. We wandered the Floral Tapestry, Garden of Surprises and Sculpture Gardens before running off to see the nearby town of Stamford. The gardens were in full bloom in late August and despite this being a summer Saturday, were not brimming with kids. The Garden of Surprises was quirky but not gimmicky, and the other parkland areas were beautiful. All in all, including a lunch stop, we spent a good 4 hours exploring Burghley House and felt this was an exceptional day out. Plenty of things for kids to do too. You should allow time to visit Stamford too; this is a lovely town. All in all, this is a lovely part of the UK!

National Trust description says it all: a fine example of medieval brick built castle. Information on site all up to usual NT standards. Good views from roof and battlements. An hour probably enough to explore and take in all the history. Easy to find, good parking and a fine church within the grounds.

We are Royal Oak Members who partner with National Trust, so we try to visit as many of their properties as we can when in a certain area. This one was a real gem. Parking was easy with a well marked lot nearby. The walk to the top is relatively easy, as the hand rail is actually formed into the wall, making grasping it easy. The steps are not steep, and one can stop on each floor to learn about the rooms, windows, and fireplaces and their significance. The Great Tower has been in the possession of the trust since 1925 and is very well maintained. On a brilliant day, the views from the top are magnificent. Well worth the effort of climbing to the top.

Absolutely amazing place - made even more special as it was a bright sunny day and the views from the top were fantastic. Beautiful grounds too. The church next to the castle was impressive!

What a stunning place!!!! So much history on the walls!! Over the years people have carved their names into the stone work!! I think the earliest is C15th!! Beautiful rooms , and a genuinely amazing story how this gorgeous building was saved from ruin!!!! One of my favourite NT locations!!! Wonderful views from the roof top!!! Xx

Definitely worth a visit, lovely castle. Great views from the top, welcoming staff and very informative staff too at the entrance and in the castle. Fun games for kids to play on the grass too.

A fantastic day out at Tattershall Castle. £10 entry if not paying gift aid and £11 if paying gift aid. 149 steps to the top of the Castle for fantastic views of local areas. Very interesting castle to visit, with multiple floors & great views from the top. The information boards are very helpful. When we visited (Sunday of August Bank Holiday) there were lots of activities in the grounds, for both adults & kids. The only downside is that there is no café on site, just a van selling snacks. But there are options in the village a short walk away.

Popular mansion and gardens. We've never seen such a queue to enter a NT property as this. It draws an incredible number of visitors and has an enormous car park and extensive cafe to accommodate everyone. That said it didn't feel busy in the gardens or house. There's plenty of room for people to spread out. There are formal gardens as well as parkland to explore. With a veritable army of volunteers tending to the gardens, which were a credit to their green fingered attention. In August when we visited there were a number of activities for children to enjoy. And plenty of children doing just that. The mansion house was built in 1685. All the furnishings and paintings are original items owned by the family. A really nice authentic feature. Don't miss the church, with so many elaborate memorials to the family ancestors. And do talk to the room guides they had lots of stories to tell about the past generations and more recent royal visitors. All good. 😎👍👍👍👍

Belton House is one of the largest National Trust stately homes, with loads to see and do including the largest outdoor play area across the estate. The house inside is stunning and whilst some work was ongoing when we were there it took nothing away from what was and will be a place of great splendour. There are also one lovely gardens to explore which you can take your fourlegged friend (although understandably not in the house).

Belton is a vast estate with a huge parking lot that is a bit of a walk to the entrance. Particularly if one must park at the far end. I was surprised to see so many visitors in late September! It was easy to see why. The house was amazing, dating from the 1600's with most of its decor maintained since that time period. The Trust has done an excellent job preserving the interior. Rooms include a full sized chapel, as well as a bedroom that was designed for Queen Adelaide. The self guided tour finds one going through room after room as it seems that most of them are open for display, unlike others where touring was limited to ground floor or a few rooms to peruse. There is a lovely cafe on the grounds and acres of gardens to enjoy. There were still many flowers in bloom in late September. There is a maze on the far end of the property if one chooses to seek it out. We never did make it to the middle, but at least we found our way back out! We are National Trust members (via Royal Oak Society) so I cannot comment on admission price. I can say that you will see a vast amount upon admission and could easily spend the day enjoying the landscape. One last tidbit: the house was featured as Rosings Park in a Pride & Prejudice film. The front was where Mr. Collins entered with his entourage, and the back is where Mr. Darcy was filmed walking towards the house.

Belton House was extremely busy when we were there but we still had a wonderful visit and did not feel overcrowded (except in the ice-cream shop!). The house was interesting, the volunteers knowledgeable and the gardens were beautiful and well kept. It is a pity the large fountain in the formal garden was not working. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area!

Probably one of the most enjoyable visits I have had to a country house and grounds. The house is not the most spectacular from the outside or the inside but it is both attractive from the outside and surprisingly comfortable inside. It is a place that I felt it would be nice to live in. There is a lot to see in the house and there was a guide in each of the main rooms who was only too happy to talk about the history, royal links and modern filming in and around the estate. The guided tour of the grounds is well worth while as we found it amusing and informative. The estate church is Norman in age and some of the later memorial statues are very impressive. We enjoyed the formal gardens and orangery although the maze was decidedly unamazing. A very pleasant walk down to the lake in a less formal area.

Was very disappointed. Cosy us £60 entry, was told that was for everything but to find out after spending all day there that the lights was an extra £76 !!!! Rip off and with only a handful of rooms decorated, thought it was poor value ... Tips for next year, give a reduced price for lights if there all day and show a kitchen decorated for Christmas lunch

Enjoyed my trip to Belton estate. It was busy due to school holidays and plenty was laid on for them to do. Outside in the gardens it was a pleasure walking round and enjoying the atmosphere. Entering the house every room was amazing and the staff explained all inquiries. Highly recommend.

Visited while staying in the area. The selection and choice is vast. Can recommend the classic sausages, really tasty, firm skin and little fat when cooking. Also picked up salad, fresh rolls and fruit from here, great quality and reasonable prices. Parking is easily accessible, sat nav took us to a caravan site just down the road - stay on the main road and you'll find it!

The postcode took me 300 yards down the road. Keep going, you won't miss it there are white signs on the road. Plenty of parking. Actually one of the best farm shops I've ever been too. The cafe / restaurant is very nice with plenty of tables. You can eat in the outside area with dogs. The food that's served is fresh food from the shop itself. I can recommend the vegetarian breakfast!! The farm shop is quite large, with plenty of food and fresh counters. To note, the homeware section is very small, this place is all about the food!! There's an outside plant area, although it's not very big. It can get busy so arrive early. Definitely worth a visit, I shall return !! Toilets available in the cafe.

Beautiful farm shop with lots of different foods, excellent selection of cheeses, meats, fruit and veg. If I could give the cafe 10 stars, I would! The staff were lovely and helpful and the food was delicious and plentiful. The beer battered haddock was superb and I'm difficult to please. Will definitely return.

Brilliant shopping experience in a local independent establishment. Most things farmed on the large grounds or locally. Quality is exceptional and very friendly staff. A cafe is out the back, plenty of parking, local beers and a deli counter. Whilst prices are higher then the major supermarkets, remember there is no bulk buying power and no undercutting farmers here, the profits are put back into a real local business with food quality being much higher. Highly recommended.

Thought I would give breakfast a go again, after being disappointed the last time I tried for lunch. Sausage sandwich - three chipolatas, cut in half, where the thickness of the bread was more than the sausage. Just put more sausages in the sandwich and charge more. Service was excellent I must say, but won’t be returning after the second bad food experience.

Went for a lunch on Sunday with the family and they weren’t busy. The children were asked if they wanted ketchup or mayo with their meals, both said yes. When their food arrived the sauces never did. My salad was swimming in dressing. We order two more cokes after trying to get the attention of 2 waiter’s, only 1 bottle was brought to us. These are simple things that staff should be getting right. Then we went to purchase a couple of items from the shop. There was only one person on the till with a queue already forming. Slowest service so I left the items. Very disappointed visit.

Stopped here for a snack after a day trip. Really nice place. Superb choice of fresh produce and some marvellous hidden gems (white asparagus to name one) . The home made chips were so good we ordered again! Nothing too mich trouble, hopefully see you again

I’m a big fan of cathedrals, and all across Europe they have their own flavour and style. Lincoln follows the Italian cathedral tradition of an enormous (and I really mean enormous) facade. And you can see it’s a facade, it overlaps the edges of the cathedral, but it’s still impossible not to be awed by the scale. No matter where you stand, yo aren’t going to fit that facade onto Yor camera, unless you’re using an ultra wide angle. It’s that big. So the facade is quite unique - Wells has something similar but Wells cathedral would fit in your pocket, yo have to be careful almost not to sit on it by accident. So Lincoln takes this facade to the nth degree, and it’s worth seeing for that. You’ll only see similar things in Milan, and (in a very different style) in Florence. The area around the cathedral is nice too - very traditional, cobbles, steep ungainly streets, closely packed cottages and townhouses climbing their way up these steep streets. This centre around the cathedral is the best bit of the town- the rest is somewhat modernised and has lost that air, so to see the real old Lincoln, you want to be around the cathedral. And the cathedral itself is worth a visit inside and around. I think there are prettier cathedrals - York for one, and more decorated inside (e.g. Ely) but Lincoln does a classic job with a large space. And it has layers of windows that breathe space into the building, it really needs to be experienced in person. And because Lincoln is not on the general tourist trail, you have it much more to yourself. So it’s peaceful, and occasionally, they hold some reasonably priced, and well-chosen concerts.

Visited the cathedral multiple times and what a beautiful place it is! Indulged in the tour, incredibly insightful and fascinating. The tour guide (Believe it was Dorothy, older woman with glasses and red earrings) was a joy to listen to and learn from, and incredibly knowledgeable. The tour was engaging and fun, with all questions being answered. The cathedral is stunning for a building that's a millennia old, and buildings like this need to be preserved for future generations to love and enjoy.

Very impressive on multiple levels. Most importantly of course there is the amazing architecture and rich history. But there is more. The absence of pews or chairs in the nave is refreshing, making it so much easier to imagine what this imposing space looked like in medieval times. They allow dogs, and dogs there were. Somehow this really enhances the welcoming feel of the place. Then there is the most amazingly beautiful Stations of the Cross, a modern work in wood comprising a generous fifteen works. I am a lapsed Catholic and agnostic, but I felt Christ’s suffering through it - a moving and somewhat surprising experience. Last, but certainly not least, we enjoyed one of the best tours I have ever experienced. Our guide, Christine, gave us insight in both architecture and history with deep knowledge and humour, and a particular sensitivity to the younger members of our audience that was very pleasing. All in all definitely a five star experience!

Amazing Cathedral, still baffles me how they managed to construct buildings like this all those years ago. You can get in for free but you have to pay to walk around once you're inside, which was a bit pricey; £25 for two. That's not a guided tour, which you can book for an additional cost. Either way it's definitely worth a visit

Historical place well worth the visit. Step back in time to medieval England.and the ruling church classes! Well preserved history. Activities for children too. Entry is good if you opt for the season pass, one payment for all year...

I love that cathedral. It was amazing experience to visit place full of history. I spent over one hour walking around and inside of cathedral. Beautiful architecture.

I just had a coffee and toast after feeling peckish early one morning on the way up Steep Hill. Really nice atmosphere, airy with lots of comfy seating. Staff were welcoming and pleasant and the coffee was excellent but cup so small I almost ordered a second cup. The sourdough toast was the best I’ve had in Lincoln cafes and this will definitely influence me to return. This establishment felt like a cafe/restaurant and it was only when writing the review that I realised you can book a room. Really handy for the Cathedral and Castle as it’s just a few minutes away.

Service was a bit slow but food was lovely. Very good value for money overall. Not taking a star off though for service as worked in hospitality industry for 16 years so can understand the challenges which can be impacted. Also lovely latte coffees too was worth the money overall.

Was to use a Scottish Term 'Puggled' after trudging up the lower part of the the Steep Hill in Lincoln and I gratefully spotted this establishment just shortly before I need the defibrillator. When we entered we were met by really friendly staff who got us to a table with nice comfy seating. We ordered Tea, Smoked Salmon Bagel and a Sausage Bap. The tea was real leaf tea and was really refreshing, my brother complimented the Sausage Bap through a full mouth and the Smoked Salmon Bagel was delicious with an ample supply of cream cheese. This is a delightful place full of character with a really relaxed atmosphere and professional and helpful staff, if you are passing and in need of refreshment, give it a try.

Popped in to use the cafe. Super friendly staff and excellent coffee at very reasonable cost. Very relaxing vibe. Will definitely return when next in Lincoln... Oh and dog friendly too!!

Had lunch here today. Cheese baguette had no butter on and was dry. The chicken on sourdough was nice however there was only half a slice of Sourdough toast with that smallest salad and no crisps. They did bring them when I asked as per menue. All in all not worth the price.

We parked just down from the apartments which worked out well with 24 hour parking. The apartment was warm, comfortable and very clean in a perfect location for down town and the historic area around the cathedral. It is on a steep hill, but is about halfway up so not too tiring either way! It was a lovely quiet location with a tuneful wren outside in the early evening singing away. A handy table and chairs are outside your door too. We liked the kitchenette and would have made use of it had we stayed longer.

Only had a coffee but it was very good, and a great location (providing you are happy with hills)

We mainly went for the cathedral; which was amazing. The castle was ok too. The best things about it are the views from the external wall walk and the film and display of the Magna Carta. A very important document on which most world democracy is based.

Visited here while staying in the area. A STEEP walk up from Broadgate car park in the town…..get a taxi ? Its free to get into the ‘grounds’ and then pay more to do the ‘walls walk’ and more to see the Magna Carta/prison areas. A MUST is to join the guided walk to get the ‘chat’ about the various areas of the castle….So worthwhile. Cafe is very reasonable too.

Great castle! The grounds are lovely to walk around. Prisons inside the grounds are really informative. Great for all ages! Views from the top of the walk are amazing of the city

Well worth a visit. Definitely get tickets and go view the, prisons, Magna carta and the chapel. Take advantage of the tour, they guides are knowledgeable and so friendly. Also the ticket get you to walk the medieval wall walk. Cafe and gift shop also available.

Stunning views of the city. Wonderful to walk around, got to listen to some stories through the onsite tour guide. The prisons were intriguing (and a little depressing, but I suppose they are supposed to be) . Getting to see one of the last few copies of the Magna Carta is a great view into the past. I would suggest getting the Wall walk ticket. When we visited the list was down so we walked up the spiral staircase, which in itself was an adventure.

Lincoln castle is amazing. Incl. Prisons, Magna Gata, Walk on fabolous Castle Wall with dragons . Family tickets have discount. Carpark is just beside. Highly recommended.

Had a great time at the castle, saw the prisons and the original Magna Carta. Lovely walk around the top of the walls. Shame the lift was out of order, you have to be fit to climb the spiral staircase. Well worth a visit.

We visited in the evening for the low bang fireworks and it was brilliant, my youngest enjoyed the indoor play area first before heading outside, there was a nice spacious marquee with plenty of seating and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the fire artists and bonfire and the fireworks were brilliant, I had 3 children with me ages 7 to 14 and we all had the a great time 🥰 parking was so easy too a lovely stress free evening

Had a great day out at Pink Pig farm with 2 x six years old girls, an 18 month old and a 10 year child.The wooden rail carts and the foam party were the greatest ! The outdoor space is always a bonus when you have kids and there were extra activities on the field eg. badminton, hoop throwing, rope swing and zip line and more…It was a very hot day yesterday around 28 degrees?? The metal slide in the park was hot under the sun therefore the kids and unable to play on it, an open canopy or some kind of shade would have been useful also for the large bouncing pillows they were quite hot under the sun and unfortunately the kids soon give up on those. We would have liked more animals and more interaction with the all of the animals but understand this is difficult to safely provide. We had a great day out, great facilities at the farm. Enjoyed our picnic ,Stayed for there for nearly 6 hours.

Been to this farm twice and loved it both times. Lots of things to do, from sand play, to roleplay, to seeing animals etc. Not loads of animals but my daughter still loves the ones there, and with everything else there is to do you can definitely make a whole day out of it all. The pumpkin patch was great with lots of choices of pumpkins and lots of photo opportunities. Food is also yummy in the restaurant. I’m sure we will be back again soon.

Looking after my great granddaughter and wondered where to go. It was an hours journey to The Pink Pig Farm but I'm so pleased we went. If you're looking for a fantastic day out with children that isn't going to cost an absolute fortune this is the place to go. Inside and outside activities, snack bar and cafe. And of course the foam party where all children was so excited. Please, please give your kids a day to remember and go to Pink Pig Farm.

We come with two grandchildren 3 years and 8 years and both loved it lots for both ages there did not want to leave. And yes you do need Wellingtons towel But I did read that and we had them. The only thing I would say in the little wood aera could do with maybe little something for the children to find nothing in there for them once your in . But did not stop us off going in. We was at pink pig farm for 5 hours and loved it. And a big thank you for a lovely day and we be back . From Hull

Our first visit to pink pig farm, it certainly will not be our last. My grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their time here, lots for them to do and see the animals. The Halloween event was excellent, far better than others we have been to over the past years. The pumpkin field was beautifully presented with lots of photo opportunities on hay bales pink tractor and much more. Alot of effort was put into theme, we love the graveyard with Michael jackson grave and Glenda 🤭 We had a wonderful day thank you 😊

Had a great time today at the pumpkin event. Lots to choose from and lots of photo opportunities. Making the witches potion was also a good activity. My little one enjoyed the indoor and outdoor play areas and it was nicely spread out. Would be nice to be able to feed the animals and maybe have a few more, but liked the fact that they were named. This was our first visit and we would definitely come back when the new play area is finished. Great value for money with all the different activities to choose from

Sundown Adventureland is a theme park created especially for younger children, offering a few of colourful rides, themed zones, and imaginative play areas. From tractors and pirate ships to indoor play barns and storybook villages, it’s designed to spark creativity and keep little adventurers entertained in a safe, family-friendly setting. The park is most enjoyable for children up to around 10 or 11 years old. Older ones, particularly around 12, may find the rides a little tame compared to larger theme parks, but many still enjoy the atmosphere, theming, and chance to join in with younger siblings. Overall, it remains a super good family day out.

We went to Sundown Adventureland yesterday and honestly, it’s just wonderful. The attention to detail is incredible — everything feels so intentional and full of imagination. You notice something different every time you visit, and there’s something special for every season. It’s such a magical place for the kids, but it brings out the child in you too! It's so much more than just another attraction, you can really feel the love and care that’s gone into every part of it over decades.

What a wonderful place to take young children! Everything is designed perfectly for your little ones, with interactive displays all around the park, lovely rides and soft plays. It was a shame to have one of the attractions closed because it's not the biggest place already but I'm sure it will reopen soon. I must also mention the fairytale village which was one of my favourite parts! Little houses from lots of fairytale stories that the children could explore and press buttons inside. Sundown was spotlessly clean and well kept and the effort that has gone into designing the park has got to be commended. My children loved it! Lots of space to spread out and play freely... opportunities to meet the characters. We never queued for a thing!!!! Went on the rides as many times as we wanted and practically had the whole park to ourselves! We also stayed onsite at Wild Acres which was really cute. My only criticism is that the bed wasn't very comfortable and it didn't have a proper sofa to relax on when the kiddies were in bed. The hot tub was beautiful and the decoration of the lodge was so magical. We booked our stay for Monday to Friday but that was definitely too long. You'd only need two nights 😊

Absolutely loved our stay here, especially the children there was loads to do there, massive sandpit, loads of different play equipment, the cabins are lovely to stay in, has a small little shop where you can grab essentials, and an adsa 15minutes down the road, only thing I would have to say on the cabins is that the sofas are not comfortable at all, especially if you suffer with bad backs , the beds however are just amazing so comfortable, the fridges needed have a good clean and freezer defrosted, we had a hot tub which was amazing, all the cooking equipment you need is there. The food from the restaurant was delicious

Visited Sundown Adventureland during the summer holidays and had a great time! It’s a lovely park with plenty to explore and so much for kids to enjoy. Lots of fun areas, rides, and themed zones that keep little ones entertained all day. There’s plenty of parking, and it’s definitely worth the money. A fantastic day out for families!

I took a gamble and drove 3 hours to visit Sundown. This adventure was for my sons 5th birthday. I am so pleased we went ! I can not stop raving about it to my family. There are two massive inside soft plays. My children 4 and 5 absolutely loved them. There are walk ways in and around, so u can easily keep your eye on the children. We went in the 6 weeks holiday and it wasn't rammed. There are lots of seating areas and a large variety of drinks and food to enjoy whilst the children burn off there energy. The little rides were brilliant fun and exciting for the children. My son absolutely loved the barrel ride, and the tractor ride, and with no long ques he went on it over and over again! The entire place was well looked after. Clean and tidy! Staff were welcoming and you could see they enjoy there jobs. Entry fees include all rides, so there is no additional costs. You only need to pay extra for food. However, there's lots of inside and outside seating so picnics are welcome too. The miniture villages were magical. The children spent ages exploring inside all the houses. We arrived at opening 10am and left at closing 5.30pm. There was so much to see I advise two days. I can't wait to visit again. My son was jumping around all day telling me "this is the best day ever". And it sure was, for all of us. Please visit this place. You don't know what your missing. It really is a hidden gem.

Nottingham Castle played an important role in Britain's history. Apart from being famous for being home to the Sheriff of Nottingham, the castle was a strategic stronghold during England's civil war in the 1600's. Today the castle is museum that houses exhibits of Nottingham's lace manufacturing, studies surrounding the "Major Oak" in Sherwood Forest, and many other interesting displays. Outside the walls is a statue of Robin Hood that is a must see for visitors. Beneath the city is a network of caves that are also present at the castle. Booking a tour of the castle caves provides visitors with much more information about the history and importance Nottingham Castle has played in Britain's history.

Cool castle ramparts encasing a grand mansion steeped in history. Highly recommend booking a cave tour to explore the tunnels within the castle rock. The guides are hugely knowledgeable and give you a fun, educational, story-filled experience.

Nottingham Castle looks impressive and full of history, even from the outside. The grand architecture and its position overlooking the city make it a striking landmark. The grounds and surrounding area are beautifully kept and offer great photo opportunities. A must-see spot that captures the heritage and charm of Nottingham!

The castle is nice but was expecting more of a castle then an art museum. There are few interesting exhibits. The castle looks nice from the outside, the grounds are nicely maintaned offering nice views over Nottingham. The price is a little high for the experience. The Robin Hood experience is nice but is more of a playground for kids with interactive stuff, for adults kind of boring. The cave tour was nice but to pay extra for that, above the entrance price can be pricey for some folks compared to the experiance. The staff is nice and hepful. You buy tickets at the entrance or online waiting in the queue is the same to enter. Next to the castle you'll find a mini square with the statue of Robin Hood. The Forest exhibition is let's say ok but doesn't really impress, a natural woodland walk might be better. One visit is enough honestly, doesn't make any sense to visit the castle again especially if you travel from a bigger distance. The location of the castle is very good, in the city center, car park buildings close by. The souvenir shop and restaurant is nice.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly entry price is reasonable but..... I was expecting more castle. I am aware that the castle is self was destroyed many many years ago. I enjoy looking at castles in their various states and wonder what they would have been like. The exhibitions were informative and interactive.

A great day out, the caves tour is a must and was an excellent way to start our visit. Then all the exhibits actually inside the castle were really engaging and interactive! I felt like there was loads to do and I learnt loads. Also the view from the top over Nottingham was lovely!

Beautiful place to wander with history and wildlife all around. Grounds are well maintained and there is a very good play park for the children to burn off some energy. Something for everyone.

What a gem for families to visit. You don't have to pay for entry, only £7 for parking! All day. The grounds are extensive, so it's a good place to take your furry friends too. We had fun exploring and enjoyed coffee and cake at the restaurant before we left.

We had a brilliant day at Rufford Abbey, and it totally exceeded all expectations. Free entry - just £7 for parking. Beautiful gardens, a great kids playground and multiple cafes. The Abbey itself is eye opening, with lots to learn and a great view of history. A must visit (especially if you are staying at Center Parks)

Good amount of parking on arrival and pay and display information was made clear. Very disappointed to not be able to access any of the abbey but it seems like it's being renovated or made safe, although I couldn't see any information about this. Need to use the information office three times and one of the members of staff was not particularly helpful or engaged. The information videos and tour above the gift shop was good but needed some maintenance as some of the displays didn't work. The shop was nice and stocked a good variety of gifts, books and food. The cafe was ok but needs some work. We set off on the blue walk to Rufford Mill which was nice and had a picnic in the park area. Great way to spend half a day and we would return in the future if the abbey was ever opened.

A beautiful area of woodland, gardens and lakes. Great for walking around. In high summer activities and a playground available. We had a sausage roll and coffee from the cafe and sat by the lake watching the many birds. The ruins of the Abbey that are being renovated hold so much historic value.

Visited yesterday with friends for a walk, and I was impressed how beautiful this place is on that time of the year. Variety of coloured trees around you and that peaceful atmosphere makes you feel relaxed. Got a plan to visit again in blooming time.

Ruined abbey now turned in to a county park and lots to see . Large childrens park is a plus point and have few caffes for food the gardens may be very lively in spring and sumner

Visiting Wollaton Park was a dream come true for me as a Batman fan. The moment I found out this was the filming location for Wayne Manor in The Dark Knight Rises, I knew I had to see it—and standing there in front of Wollaton Hall honestly left me in awe. The building is absolutely stunning, with its towering windows and intricate stonework. For a moment, it really felt like I was stepping into Bruce Wayne’s world. The park itself is just as beautiful as the Hall. Wide green spaces, autumn leaves scattered across the grass, and peaceful paths made it feel both grand and calm at the same time. I could’ve stayed there for hours just walking around and taking it all in. The staff were also really friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. You can tell they care about the place and its history, and they were happy to chat and answer questions. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. As a Batman nerd, it felt like a pilgrimage to Wayne Manor. But even if you’re not into Batman, Wollaton Park is still an incredible spot to explore—beautiful, relaxing, and full of character.

Great place to visit. The car park is £5, I paid for this in the shop, giving them my number plate. The park is very extensive but it was fantastic to see the deer so close. The house is fascinating with all the natural history displays. This was £15 but the ticket lasts a year. The gardens were also very nice and the view down to the lake was beautiful. The cafe was ok, not the largest selection of food and the drinks were all served in cardboard drinking cups. All the staff everywhere were very friendly and helpful. The shop was nice to look around and standard prices. The toilet facilities were good and clean. There were some near the cafe and in the house. I definitely recommend a visit. On a warm summers day it would be a lovely place to bring a picnic and make a day of it.

Visited the walled gardens specifically. A wonderful, relaxing and fascinating project to restore the site. Lovely volunteers working at the site and amazing progression being made. Only open set times during the summer for tours. A warm welcome. This is a very special place.

The park is about 500 acres. Many children at the playground, families on picnic rugs, deer wandering through acreage. Camellia House & Wollaton Hall are so different. Enjoyed every moment.

Lovely grounds, plenty of deer and a nice walk in fresh air. There are toilets, a café and gift shop.if you need them. You need the Ringgo app to park and pay £6.10 for all day.

What a wonderful place for a walk, the gardens are beautiful and it was lovely to see the deer and the birds, especially the Mandarin duck. We didn't go into the house this time but will definitely look around next time we are there. There's a lovely cafe and 2 shops. Well worth a visit.

Amazing weekend out for all the family. Look for a hotel stay with extra day free park entry tickets because you will need 2 days, at least, to see everything. Park is large, good selwxtion of animals and animatronic dinosaurs. Lots of play parks, soft play, indoor play, cafes and restaurants. Staff in the park, hotel, and shops were exceptional and very informative. Costs are very reasonable for food and gifts.

It's a fun day out for everyone! There's loads of free parking, but stick to the regular car park unless you're staying at the hotel. The animals have big enclosures. You can find the feeding times at the entrance. You can buy a map at the entrance or download the app. I reckon the best way to see the Park is to go right after you get through the turnstiles. Head through Pangea, the dinosaur bit. Watch out for the spitting dino! It'll take you 2 to 3 hours to walk around. Wear comfy shoes. There are plenty of places to eat and picnic spots for the kids. Drinks and snacks are a bit pricey, but hey, that's what you get when you're captive audience! We visited at the beginning of October and saw at least 90% of the animals.

Very good parking and a large footprint. Contains several play areas and eating establishment's. A good variety of animals and good viewing areas. In windier/colder weather, be aware that some areas are closed off and there's a chance you may not see certain animals. Could be better signposting throughout the park in my opinion. Overall it is worth the visit.

What a day! I honestly felt like a little kid again. It’s been years since I last visited a zoo or wildlife park, and I was completely in my element. The staff were so friendly, the animals were fantastic, and the walk-through areas were an absolute highlight. Such a lovely experience from start to finish – I can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic place. Awesome day out, animals look very well looked after with big enclosures, originally went to see Capybara due to an obsessed child, nice little walk around to be within a few feet of one. Plenty put stops to eat or have a picnic. Highly recommend.

Visited many times in the past but this time it was for the Light Festival. Couldn't fault anything. Food options at The Hive are varied and obviously lots of things to do/see - although of course most of the animals were abed! The staff were helpful and kind , even after a long day of helping. Easy to get to and exit - but that's by car. Can't speak about other transport options. The Light Festival is worth a visit; it's truly a 'walk-of-art'!!

Nicely laid out, great attractions and plenty of different animals, it was nice to see them in decent enclosurs. Went for the Halloween event which had 5 sections to find, they was big ques but they didn't make you feel rushed. Will definitely visit again.

It was our first visit and we hadn't realised how big the site was. We recently had English Heritage membership, so had free entry. There was ample free parking and the ruins of the old house and impressive newer house. Lots of interesting history and rooms you can access, such as Bess' bed chamber. Lots of tapestries, including one made by Queen Mary. Nice shop and cafe and beautiful gardens. Plenty to see and do.

A really amazing place to visit. We only expected to be a couple of hours at most, but there was so much to see. The visit also includes the adjacent old hall ruins. The house is stunning, and the interiors are decorated with the most amazing embroidery which hangs from almost every wall and room. The volunteers are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the property. We took our dog and he was welcome in an area of the restaurant, which was nice as it was cold and raining. We would have liked to walk more of the grounds and gardens, but the weather put us off. They do look stunning and I'm sure on a better day would have been very enjoyable.

Fantastic to look around. Amazing house and gardens, easily able to spend a full day there and more. I could just look at the tapestries for days! Well worth a visit if you're into history or just beautiful places.

We haven't been here for quite a few years and we're pleasantly surprised, there is a lot more to see and do. The guides were interesting and knowledgeable but not overpowering like at some properties. A very pleasant day out 😁

Expect an expansive estate as the drive from the entrance to the parking lot must be a mile long. This property features two historic buildings: Old Hardwick Hall and the Renaissance style Manse known as Hardwick Hall. Bess of Hardwick was born in the original hall and had it renovated to impress guests in 1587. When her 4th husband died and she came into substantial funds she built the latter and present day manse. We were able to tour both with our National Trust memberships (via Royal Oak Society). One can climb to the top of the Old Hall for a bit of a view of the countryside if the weather is accommodating. There are no handrails, though, so take walking sticks if you think you need support while traversing the original stone steps. The Manse is huge and the tour is quite extensive. It is self guided but volunteers are available for questions. Some unique features are the longest Elizabethan Long Hall in the National Trust holdings. It has 450 year old tapestries hanging on the walls. There are also four noble women tapestries that Bess designed specifically for this house. She was obviously quite a talented woman. There are some gardens along the front and the back of the house, but not a formal designed style like you see on some properties. Parking was in a very large lot a bit of a distance from the entrance. There is a cafe on the grounds that offers a delicious cream tea as well as a myriad of other delights, all reasonably priced.

Intriguing place punched atop a hill looking out sadly over the M1 now, but back in the day it would have been quite the most magnificent spot for party's. Some old Yes topiary and magnificent Cedar of Lebanon stand century in the garden providing a great contrast from the pinkish yellow stone and unbelievable lead pane windows which adorn the hall.

A wonderful historical place of interest with stunning tapestries. We spent a very happy 3 and a half hours there. Checking out the history of bess's family, with help from the very knowledgeable volunteers. Strolling the gardens and climbing the 127 steps of old Hardwick hall. Then stopping for a very tasty cheese scone and coffee in the restaurant.

I loved the place. So much to see for every age. One issue. We has pulled pork rolls in the butterfly cafe. They looked good but we're swimming in grease. It meant that the rolls were sodden and the meal sat very heavily on the stomach. This spoiled our afternoon.

Our second visit here and it was just like the first time amazing with lots of lovely animals to see, you can easily spend the whole day here, however on this occasion we went nearer the closing time and it was raining and not many of the animals were out but we still had the best time, they have so many lovely birds and the variety of butterfly species each one as gorgeous as the other. The staff right from upon entering and to the end were absolutely amazing and so friendly. Definitely worth more visits, and a day very well spent!! Definitely recommend!!

So much more than a butterfly house. We didn't know what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. There is so much to see. The staff and keepers are very friendly. There are so many animals to see as well as dinosaurs and fun attractions (press the buttons for a few surprises). The otters were very entertaining. You can buy food to feed the various animals. They have a wallaby walk-through and a lemur walk-through a farm yard with friendly goats. A bird house with exotic birds you can see up close and, of course, the butterfly house. There are so many pretty butterflies in a lovely setting. The bird show was very entertaining. The cafes serve a nice mix of hot and cold food at reasonable prices and the toilets are very clean. A great day out for adults and kids alike. Highly recommend.

Went with the wife and kid. The size is good enough to walk round with a kid. We spent about 2 and a half hours looking at some wonderful animals and the butterflies 🦋 were amazing and plenty to see. Also, lotties cafe was really good. The staff were very friendly. Definitely planing go back at some point. Only thing bad is that I didn't get the a code for a second visit discount that was advertised.

Wonderful staff and a very beautiful place with tons of animals that are very well kept. Don’t miss out on experiences with armadillos and meercats. They are definitely worth the money and it is the only place that we visited in that area that were you really could enjoy that kind of experience. The rest of them were from far away and not that nice.

My daughter really wanted to see the Butterflies so we went on a Sunday during the 6 weeks holiday. We had to wait to get in as there was only one woman on the gate and she had to give everyone a ticket for a reduced return visit and had to write on each one. Saying we arrived during the first hour of opening youd think they would have more staff on. The butterfly house was lovely, and there was other animals to see but we was done after 2 and half hours as was many other people who had arrived at the same time as us. I think the price is slightly high for what you get as you can go other wildlife parks and pay around the same and spend the day. We were also disappointed to find out the lemurs were only open for 30 minutes during the whole day so missed seeing them.

Really lovely place, we went on our own as a couple but would definitely bring the grandchildren back. I wanted to go to a butterfly farm and we live in Derby so this was the closest I could see. I wasn’t disappointed with the butterfly greenhouse area and it was an added bonus to have the other animals there too, including the super cute otters, meerkats and lemurs! The leaf cutter ants were astounding!! Cafe service was very slow though and it wasn’t that busy.

Totally surprised myself by how interesting I found this! These are beautiful to look and watch as they go past. Such a shame that we don't use these anymore! There was plenty to do and see. The woodland walks with the wooden sculptures were great! We loved the wooden potato head! We all enjoyed the Tram ride through the village! Great day out!

A lovely day out for the enthusiast. We had three trams running on our visit and was able to ride on them with ease. The other attractions, such as the Woodland walk was a pleasant activity. The tram museum is very informative with a good collection of trams and their history. There are plenty of places to sit down but I would recommend bringing your own food/picnic as the small on site cafe has very limited table accommodation inside.

What a great day we had, it's steam punk weekend here, and decided to go along to find out what it was like. £25 per adult but free to come back within 12 months. Blast from the past as you walk down to the recreation of tram life with the extra of alot of people dressed up in their desired steam punk outfits. Great to see them all. So much to see with the history of trams, and the woodland walk is a must, we really enjoyed this part. Cant wait to go back again.

A lovely day out . We had spent the weekend in Matlock Bath. A truly lovely place to visit. The tramway village is only approximately 6miles away. It's like stepping back in time . Along with many trams on display, there are some you travel on along a track. An old fashioned sweetshop and pub . There's a cafe serving food . Sadly the country walk got to by the tram was closed due to the bad weather. Tickets are valid for 12 months so hopefully will go back in the summer months

Great day out. A big part of family holidays when I was a child was riding the trams at Blackpool along the seafront. Seeing a couple of these at the museum brought back some very happy memories. My parents would have rode on trams like some of these when they were young. It’s fantastic to see so many all in one place and all so well preserved. I love this sort of place. It’s so amazing that people had the foresight to save these items, be they trams or trains or buses, vintage cars, old buildings. They deserve our full support. Will definitely pay another visit.

Visiting the Peak District, on a wet autumn day with a dog, we went to look around this museum, as much of it is indoors. We took a tram ride - included with the entry, and dog was allowed on the lower floor of the tram - looked around the old sweet shop, various sheds and the workshop, then to the pub... then we wandered the woodland walks. An enjoyable afternoon, with very friendly & helpful staff. We thought the price (£25 each for 2 adults) steep, it does allow re-entry for 12 months, but that only works if you live locally to be able to go back within that timescale.

Fantastic place to visit and spend the day. I can throughly recommend Crich Tramway Village for a fantastic experience. The place is staffed by very friendly people and they are all very helpful and welcoming. I loved exploring the garages where the trams are stored and maintained and there is plenty of information about the history of each tram. The restaurant serves good quality food and is good value for money. I really enjoyed the tram rides and there was plenty of opportunities to stop off and get off at the different stops so that you explore more and enjoy a walk around the area. Thank you so much to the volunteers and workers who make this place such a fantastic place to visit.
