Pipa Beach, also known as Praia do Madeiro, is a popular destination in Brazil renowned for its stunning white-sand beach and towering cliffs. The area is surrounded by lush Atlantic Forest and offers a laid-back atmosphere with a variety of beachfront restaurants, bars, and charming inns. This surfing hotspot attracts visitors with its vibrant nightlife and thriving food scene.
Love this place. My favorite beach is Dolphins Bay. Highly recommended. I also recommend trying surf lessons at love beach.
Caue G — Google review
Nice beach, it can't be denied, but nevertheless very overrated. In the water, beware of numerous sharp stones. There are many much more beautiful places in the 20km area. However, the plus side of this is that there are many restaurants and pubs, so for someone who prefers comfort over views this place is certainly better.

Best place in rio grande do norte. Paradisiac beaches and amazing good vibes. Very safe compared to rest of the cities. You can walk safely at any time without having to worry about assault. A place you HAVE to visit!
Lander — Google review
Wonderful place, with a warm welcoming by the locals. Beautiful beaches for surfing or just a nice dive into the sea. You can find cheap places to eat or if you want something fancy you can find it too.
J D — Google review
Pipa is a beautiful beach, when we visited over the Xmas holidays it was very clean and looked taken care of. In my opinion, it's best to arrive there early in the day when the water is at low tide. Then you have more time to explore or just sit in the many pools of sea water. In the afternoon the tide returns and pretty soon there is nowhere to sit as the beach floods. There's a variety of places that serve food and drinks, as well as many sellers that set up shop on the beach selling food, drinks and souvenirs. Most of these sellers are cash only so be prepared. Bars and restaurants take cash, debit, and credit cards.
John P — Google review
I found this beach very beautiful! The falesias were breath taking!

It's a very beautiful beach, but very dangerous because it's not safe for people to enjoy the place. You have to constantly watch for cars driving on the sand as I'd it were a road. I do not recommend it, specially if you have children. It's a beautiful place but unfortunatly not safe.

Aquário Natal

Mentioned on
2 lists
Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
Aquário Natal is a modern and compact aquarium that offers an educational and entertaining experience for visitors of all ages. It showcases a variety of marine species, including touch tanks, penguins, and native fish like piranhas. Upon entering, a guide provides insights into the specimens' habits and backstories, some of which are rescued animals being prepared for reintroduction to their natural habitat. The aquarium also features terrestrial mammals, birds, and reptiles.
There's a small entrance fee and as soon as you get inside, a guide will explain about the specimens and their habits and backstory - some are rescued animals, many are getting prepared to be reintroduced to their natural habitat. There are several species represented, including terrestrial mamals, birds and reptiles. After the initial tour you are free to roam and revisit any animals you wish. There's the "touch tank" and a "mermaid" show every weekend. There's a gift kiosk and a picture booth on the tour path, and outside there's a gift shop and a snack bar. There's also a big parking lot structure.
Marília S — Google review
A good place to go with the kids. A nice selection of animals, but could maybe also be some more from other continents. It’s larger than it seems from outside. Could get some maintenance. Wish they would sell some drinks or small food inside, because now you need to leave the place to buy drinks or food.
Petter R — Google review
A nice little aquarium, that also houses different species of animals. It can use a little bit more maintenance and cleaning, but overall, a fun place to visit.
Maria A — Google review
Nice place lots to see more of a zoo than a Aquarium
Graeme/ B — Google review
This is the saddest zoo i’ve been to in my life. I don’t leave reviews often, but i feel like i had to share my experience. So many of the animals showed signs of distress. Little to no effort put in to their cages and some fish and reptiles were to be found dead in their cages or aquarium
Steijn Z — Google review
Kind of a Aquarium/zoo combo The exhibits are decent. Didn't care for all the tourist trapping. Make sure to pay with reis to skip the line.
Seth G — Google review
Was surprised to see land animals too. Overall a great experience for the price. Staff were really friendly and informative too.
Dell H — Google review
The aquarium is very nice. The presence of a tour guide aggregates a lot as he gives interesting information about the animals present in the aquarium (which is not restricted to ocean life, FYI). All money spent buying souvenirs is reverted to the aquarium/animals care. The only negative point is that is very, very hot inside it. There are no air-conditioned or ventilators.

This impressive cable-stayed bridge stretches across the Potengi River and serves as a vital link between the northern and southern regions of the city. Fortaleza dos Reis Magos

Mentioned on
+37 other lists
Sights & Landmarks
Fortress
Located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Fortaleza dos Reis Magos is a 16th-century military fortification shaped like a star and perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. This historical landmark played a crucial role in defending the city and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. The fort's limestone embankment, cannons, and chapel add to its historical significance. It has been instrumental in repelling invaders and stands as an important symbol of Natal's history.
Bring water and sunscreen! It is a little walk and no shade at all. Tickets to get in are 5 reais full price or 2.5 reais for half price (students, seniors, etc.). You can buy these at the door with debit or Pix. The fort is beautiful and has a fantastic view of Natal and the bridge. It has a little bit of history inside of it but not much about the fort, so I would recommend reading on your own or maybe come with a tour guide if you’re really interested in history. A note for the foundation/museum of the fort: Please get the historical information rewritten. It is outdated and written very poorly and in a racist way against indigenous peoples and the colonial history of Natal.
Miguel S — Google review
the view is very nice. you get nice views of the city and the ocean. on the other hand the fortress is not well preserved and does not have enough exhibits to see. also the use of english in the signs is mainly in the three signs in the entrance
Alexis P — Google review
Fortaleza dos Reis Magos is a fortress located a bit outside the city of Natal. From the fortress, you have a great view over the ocean and the city. The entry fee was 3 Brazilian reals when we visited. It is worth a visit if you are interested in history or just enjoy a great view.
Corsin — Google review
People, how can you complain about a site that is free to enter!? You don’t need a guide, you can just enjoy the site and walk around, take nice photos. Be happy that they make this place available to the public for no cost! I enjoyed it!
Alexandra K — Google review
Note! My photos are older, before renovation took place! Great historical place, currently renovated which has given the whole building a new life! A great place to take photos, with a wonderful beach next to it and natural pools. A wonderful piece of history! Daytime sightseeing is recommended as the site is away from everything. Cultural heritage site!

Ecological park
Nature & Parks
Bosque dos Namorados do Parque das Dunas is a must-visit ecological park in Natal, offering stunning natural views, dunes, and Atlantic forest. It's a favorite among nature enthusiasts and families for its well-maintained facilities including playgrounds, walking paths, picnic areas, and even guided trails through the Dunas Reserve. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks or engage in activities like picnicking and sports while learning about native wildlife and plants.
excellent park to walk around and enjoy the nature. interesting small stuffed animal museum that displays some (but not all) local flaura and fauna as well as some very interesting live specimens. First attraction in natal that has adequate english signage.
Alexis P — Google review
Amazing park with tracking courses, playground, music, pic nic area, nature etc ... really big in the middle of parque das dunas. Need to be done.
Nicolas B — Google review
Great place for family walking, sports and celebrating. Tables for picnic, meetings and an open theater.
Thompson S — Google review
Organized, clean, well equipped: this is a great option for those who wish to spend quality time with family and friends. There are many playgrounds for the kids, different pathways for running/walking. You can invite your friends and have a picnic. There are bathrooms and drinking fountains. If you schedule previously a guide will take you through trails in the Dunas Reserve.
Marília S — Google review
Hiking trails are only open on certain days and you must prebook, which was not clear. We also were told to turn back on another walking trail by a security guard. Overall very disappointing experience (although I'm sure its lovely if you prebook). Finally, after realising that we could not do any of the hikes, we discovered that there is no beer at the cafe - that was the nail in the coffin and this place gets a poor score from me.
Tom C — Google review
Great place to relax and do some exercises.
Evânio G — Google review
It is an amazing park. You can either go for a walk or you could spend time reading a book among the trees. There are trails too, but you need reservations for that.

Ponta Negra

Mentioned on
+15 other lists
Beach
Nature & Parks
Ponta Negra Beach is a renowned destination in Natal, attracting tourists with its beautiful beach, iconic Morro do Careca dune, and abundance of hotels, restaurants, and activities. This picturesque spot offers clear waters for swimming and various water sports to enjoy. It's a must-visit location for those seeking relaxation and fun by the sea. Additionally, nearby Pitangui Beach and Punau Beach offer stunning landscapes along the North Coast for visitors to explore.
Natal, a splendid sea city located in the warmest part of Brazil, the northeast, with astonishing, sandy white beaches, including its most popular one, the PRAIA PONTA NEGRA, easily recognizable by its landmark MORRO DO CARECA (Brazilian for "the bald hill"). The water temperature in this part of the land, is the best thing that your body and soul can experience, being perfectly warm all year around. Outside the water you've got a tropical-wet climate with the ocean breeze mitigating the, otherwise, oppressive heat. Probably my favorite kind of climate. Praia Ponta Negra is a very pretty urban-beach, with its beautiful promenade, palm trees and delicious bars and restaurants. All you have to do is grab a coconut from a local seller, put your canga (Brazilian for beach towel) on the white, soft sand, call a local masseur (scattered all over the beach) that will give you the best relaxing moments and then go for a swim in the warm ocean. To end a perfect day, go to a restaurant by the beach, and eat one of the best sea food in Brazil. I definitely recommend trying the "caranguejo", which means crab. If you happen to be in Natal, Ponta Negra is a fantastic must!
Jack B — Google review
I have never had so much pain as a day at this beach. As it is so steep, the big Atlantic rollers crash right on the beach front. There are sharp rocks right there under your feet. If you look, you will not see many people in the water, and not for very long. It looks beautiful, but I would never go in that water again
Stephen W — Google review
Great view, nice food
Virginia C — Google review
Unbelievable place. Hot water, friendly people, good music, view to Careca's hill!
Gabriel D — Google review
I lived in the Ponta Negra area for a year and all I can say about this place is that it's amazing and I will always miss it. The beach can be a bit croweded sometimes but it's totally worth the visit.
Eduardo ( — Google review
Nice beach, however, vendors can be irritating.
Luis M — Google review
Loved this beach. Overall it was relatively clean but varies depending on where you are on the beach. Areas that less people frequent are cleaner. The nice part about this beach is that it is so long, nice sand, smooth walk into the water with a sandy bottom, nice waves, and no shortage of food and drink options.
E — Google review
This beach is nice, right in Natal. 45 Minutes south is Pipa, where the beaches tend to be cleaner. However, there are some nice hotels, bed and breakfasts and resorts in Natal that look quite nice. This beach was very fun and busy, excellent beach side service, most beach side vendors will go out of their way to bring whatever you want, for a price of course, though reasonable in the end.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful place. Fantastic beach. There aren't many bars and restaurants, but the few that do have ice-cold beer, great snacks and delicious "roskas". If you've never seen trawling, this is the place to be. A peaceful and very safe place. It's worth spending a vacation in Pirangi. It's very close to the largest cashew tree in the world. Park
Cajueiro da Praia de Pirangi is home to the world's largest cashew tree, covering an impressive 2 acres with its twisting branches. The tree has been continuously growing and now spans almost a city block. Visitors can enjoy free entry, including disabled individuals and their companions. The park also features numerous stores offering cashew-themed goods. From a top view, you can witness 80% of the total plant area.
I loved the place. I also liked the explanation given to us by a member of staff that works there. Interesting experience
Luci S — Google review
The place is incredible, one true wonder of nature. The guides explain briefly how the tree got so big and how old not could be (135 years at the time of writing this review) the view is impressive too. Lots of opportunities for photos inside as well.
Vivianne C — Google review
Interesting place to visit. Lots of curiosities about the cashew tree and fruit. The tree is really enormous.
Jeff S — Google review
Fascinating cashew tree, apparently it's the biggest cashew tree on earth. The entry fee is very low. You can walk through the inside of the tree. In the middle of the tree are some guides who talk about the history of the tree (unfortunately, only in Portuguese). At the end of the tour, there is a Platform where you get to see the tree from above.
Corsin — Google review
I had never seen a tree so big. It is amazing to ser what nature is capable of doing without human intervention.
Enzo — Google review
Interesting place to see and learn about the cashew tree. It costs 7 reais and it takes no more than 15 minutes to visit it. There's a lot of souvenirs shops around.
Paula R — Google review
It was truly magnificent. The whole area is almost a city block, that is just one tree with branches growing into the ground and rebranch again.
Michael L — Google review
Great place to visit. The structure there is quite good, the place is organized and clean. The guides are polite and attentive, and explain all the small details about the tree. There is also a very quaint souvenir fair outside the tree square, where you can find clothes and smash gifts.

Beach
Nature & Parks
Praia Baía dos Golfinhos Pipa is a natural, long sandy beach known for its dolphin watching opportunities and kayak rentals. To reach the beach during low tide, visitors have to walk through Praia do Porto. The sight of dolphins in the water is a major draw, offering the chance to swim, kayak, or stand-up paddle right next to them. As the sun sets, the experience becomes even more magical as a pod of dolphins makes their daily pilgrimage to the bay.
Totally worth visiting either on foot or by boat! Spectacular nature display and the dolphin watching is definitely a plus!!!
Amanda B — Google review
Beautiful beach with dolphins ! We walked there in high tide which was tricky but possible. There is a boat that offers 1 hour but you don’t get to relax on the beach
Tayte S — Google review
You must look with attention and will see dolphins swimming free.
Joan J — Google review
The dolphins oh yes please. Wake up early and head to the beach while the tide is out (6am ish) you’ll have the whole beach to yourself to swim with the dolphins. So special. Magic
Charlotte C — Google review
In my opinion this is the nicest beach in town. Not just because of the regular sightings of Pipa's native dolphin colony, but also because it's a 10 minute walk from the central beach and so somewhat quieter and cannot easily be accessed during high tide.
Jason B — Google review
we saw the dolphins on 2 different days and could approach them at approximatively 5 to 8 meters during low tide ... wow ... really amazing ! The beach in itself is not very interesting, but the dolfins are

7 stars if I could , great guys . Full experience! the lesson included work on balance yoga and 1 to 1 coaching before even entering the water . I’ve surfed before but never managed to stand up and ride with Bruno’s help I was crushing waves by the end of the session🏄‍♂️ . Also really good clear English spoken . Would recommend to anyone all levels, ages , abilities

This was my first time surfing and I heard that this post was amazing to surf. Bruno made it so easy for us, we had each a coach, which is just perfect to learn ! Thanks so much for everything I would definitely recommend you to anyone !
Mahaut R — Google review
Perfect spot to learn how to surf! Me and my friend took lessons for 4 days and we loved it! Probably we’re gonna take some more lessons. Bruno and Ulisses had lots of patience and motivate you in a really positive way. They really want you to learn and enjoy the surfing.
Tanja V — Google review
Highly recommended, I’ve had 5+ years away from surfing and needed someone to give me the confidence on both the board and in the sea, especially as I don’t know the surf in the area. Bruno is very relaxed and a great teacher of all levels. He also speaks English which is a real bonus. Get a lesson booked and enjoy!!
Josh C — Google review
Very good and professional surf lessons. Bruno is very motivated and gives good tips for continuous improvement. I can recommend the surf school unlimited and look forward to more lessons.

Really really fun and safe surf lessons with Bruno and his team. One of my first times surfing and thanks to the team I feel addicted already. Can’t recommend it enough! Thanks so much to Bruno and Alan

Scam, stay away. I scheduled three lessons, paying in advance as requested. The instructor didn't show up in two of the lessons and they refuse to refund for the missed lessons due to the money having already been spent by them. Lack of honesty and respect.

Pipa Chapadao, also known as Mirante do Chapadao, is a plateau lookout situated between Praia do Amor and Praia do Minas. It offers breathtaking views of the paradisiacal scenery of Praia do Amor from above, making it an ideal spot for capturing souvenir photographs. The area is renowned for its stunning sunrise and sunset phenomena. However, accessing Praia do Amor involves negotiating a considerable number of rocks even at low tide.
Great view of Praia do Amor from up here and really a fun experience to look at the geology of the area. The prices of drinks and coconuts up here is quite high, so I recommend to just come by to look and take pictures for a minute before going. Bring sunglasses as it is sunny and there is no shade. No bathrooms around either.
Miguel S — Google review
Amazing view and great place to visit in Pipa. We arrived early morning for sunrise to avoid crowded times. I recommend staying at least 1h to explore all areas. You can also climb down to the beach. When we were about to leave there was some coconut vendors arriving, which can be refreshing after hours of sun exposure. 100% a Must go in Pipa, we will definitely come back again.

The lodging experience at Sua Casa na Barra de Mamanguape was peaceful and relaxed. The Araca flat was well-maintained and equipped with essential kitchen amenities such as a refrigerator, stove, and basic cooking items. Nilton, the host, provided us with helpful guidance on places to eat and visit. However, there were a few drawbacks including intermittent WiFi connectivity issues during the night and limited television programming that often froze due to unstable internet connection.

Praia do Jacaré, located in Cabedelo near Joao Pessoa, is a low-key beach known for its boat docks and esplanade lined with restaurants and bars. The highlight of this beach is the daily sunset celebration accompanied by live music, featuring the famous saxophonist Jurandy do Sax performing Bolero by Ravel. This unique experience has made Praia do Jacaré a popular destination for visitors seeking a magical and romantic sunset setting.
Beautiful little area. There is no beach per se, however, the little area is very clean, new with tons of shops and space to watch the sunset or shop. It is a very recommendable spot to come while in João Pessoa for the souvenir possibilities and to see the area/music/sunset.

Most popular sunset in Brazil. 🌅 However, if you want more beautiful ones, try Barra Grande, Bahia, or the dunes of Lençois Maranhenses. What’s special here is that the music is nice; also there are free bathrooms. Other than that it’s pretty crowded.

Nice touristic spot to see the sunset. It's basically a street following the river with bunch of small stores to buy souvenirs and food. You can park your car for free at the public designated area, but you will have an army of people trying to make your park before on their area for 5 reais. That's not a lot to pay, but if you don't want to, ignore them and park at the end on the left.

(Translated by Google) I believe that every good travel experience begins with choosing the right place to stay. And, unfortunately, we made a mistake in this regard. João Pessoa is an incredible city — beautiful, welcoming, and full of polite and helpful people. However, our stay at the Tambaú Beach Hotel left much to be desired. The location is excellent, super close to everything, but the hotel falls short in several aspects, especially in the cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms. The walls had mold — and, from what I've seen in other comments here on Google, it wasn't an isolated problem. A real nightmare for anyone with allergies! We booked some tours with Luck Turismo, which is a partner of the hotel and has a permanent space in the reception area to sell packages. One of the tours left at 6:45 am, and since breakfast is only served from 6:30 am, I tried to talk to the reception to see if it would be possible to arrive 10 minutes earlier or if they could prepare a snack for us to take with us. In other hotels I've stayed in, this has always been resolved willingly — after all, we are in a tourist city. But, to my surprise, the response was curt and abrupt: “There’s nothing we can do, can’t you have coffee in 15 minutes? That’s all the time you have.” No willingness to help, not even an attempt at a solution. As a result, I gulped down my food so as not to miss the tour. Another day, I ordered a tapioca for breakfast (which is made to order) and, quite rudely, the employee informed me that it would be the last one—at 7:20 am, with several guests still arriving to eat! I waited more than 15 minutes and, when I asked again, I was told they wouldn't be making any more tapioca that day. I could have enjoyed my breakfast normally, but I ended up wasting time waiting for something that never came. I also had an unpleasant experience when requesting a hairdryer at reception. The attendant, wearing headphones, showed complete unwillingness—he huffed, stood up, and handed over the item visibly annoyed, as if he were doing me a favor. In short, there are many accommodation options in João Pessoa, and I would certainly choose a different one on a future visit. The Tambaú Beach Hotel presents itself as a 3-star hotel, but honestly, it doesn't even come close to deserving one. (Original) Acredito que toda boa experiência de viagem começa pela escolha do local onde ficar. E, infelizmente, nesse ponto, nós erramos. João Pessoa é uma cidade incrível — linda, acolhedora e cheia de pessoas educadas e solícitas. Porém, nossa hospedagem no Tambaú Beach Hotel deixou bastante a desejar.

Cabo Branco Beach is a popular destination known for its long sandy stretch, perfect for swimming and sunbathing. The area offers nearby eateries and a well-designed boardwalk with standardized kiosks and pleasant wooden furniture. This beach provides a mix of lively atmosphere with kiosks and quieter areas towards Cabo de Santo Agostinho. It's also recognized for its palm trees providing ample shade, making it kid-friendly.

Nice beach, but apparently the water is not so clean because the sewage system is directly dumping contaminated water in it. This is especially not pleasant during high tide and is also not very healthy. The beach is beautiful with many stands along the way of the beach.

Cabo Branco and Tambaú are among the best beaches in the Northeast. No, not the prettiest, but for a place to just enjoy the beach, they are hard to beat. Relatively safe water, not too rough. Many quiosques offer food and drinks. For more youthful excitement, go North to the Intermares Beach where you will often find surfers. Thus, it is windier and rougher, but there is much more boating activity to watch.

Cabo Branco Beach is possibly the best beach in the city, mostly because of the infrastructure in the area: there are many hotels, beach bars, restaurants of all types (from pizza joints to fine dining establishments); you can rent bicycles to ride on the dedicated bike path that runs all along the coast of Joao Pessoa to Cabedelo. If you are a sun worshipper, you can rent a beach chair and an umbrella and sit on the golden sand, looking at the beautiful turquoise water that’s always warm. Cabo Branco Beach is flanked by 2 other beaches: Tambaú Beach and Seixas Beach which is where the easternmost point of the Americas is located. There are a lot of reasons to visit this beach and I highly recommend you come.

Very beautiful beach, lots of food options nearby, some of them even with live music in the evening. There is a possibility to rent a bicycle/tricycle.

Located at the easternmost point of the Americas, the Cabo Branco Lighthouse is a 1972 winged structure that offers breathtaking panoramic views. It symbolizes the extremity of the continent and is where the sun rises first in South America. Visitors can enjoy stunning vistas of the lighthouse, Solon de Lucena Park, Tambau Beach, and even experience an evening serenade to Ravel's Bolero at Praia do Jacare.
Tourist attraction with kiosks all around selling things. Nice lighthouse and surrounding area. There is not that much to see, but it worth going to once. Technically the most eastern point in all of the hemisphere/Americas.

Nice spot with a wonderful view on the easternmost point of the Americas. There are a few shops, restaurants and an artisan market and the area seemed relatively clean and safe. Recommended

It's a super important spot, the very oriental point of the American continent and unfortunately its kind of abandoned. There's a park with some very tourist shop... nothing special. I think local government should take care of that important spot of the continent.

The lighthouse seems inoperational and despite being marked as open, there's no way to enter. While the location and view spot is cool, as it is the Easternmost point of the Americas, I wish there was more to see here.

Now remodelled and ready to welcome people in its woods, it offers a hallmark of the most oriental place in the Americas.

Beautiful view and significant location (Eastern most part of the Americas). Yet, no lineup to take photos. There's also a little market and park that's under construction, I'm guessing that it gets really busy during high season.

The Cabo Branco Station - Science, Culture and Arts is a must-visit museum in Joao Pessoa, Brazil. Designed by the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, it opened in 2008 and offers a fascinating free tour with the option to explore exhibitions. The station also features a planetarium that visitors can enter for free. Situated near the Cabo Branco Lighthouse, this iconic landmark marks the easternmost point of the Americas where the sun rises first on its beaches.
A great place. You can see art, culture and technology.

Classic example of big Brazilian public work. Once the big investment is done (the propina ends and a big opening celebration), then starve the project for maintenance. It is not hopeless yet, but nearly nothing was open or in good condition. Hurrah! There were two maintenance workers. The observation deck was open and that's about it. I hear it used to be great.
