Love this place. My favorite beach is Dolphins Bay. Highly recommended. I also recommend trying surf lessons at love beach.

Nice beach, it can't be denied, but nevertheless very overrated. In the water, beware of numerous sharp stones. There are many much more beautiful places in the 20km area. However, the plus side of this is that there are many restaurants and pubs, so for someone who prefers comfort over views this place is certainly better.

Best place in rio grande do norte. Paradisiac beaches and amazing good vibes. Very safe compared to rest of the cities. You can walk safely at any time without having to worry about assault. A place you HAVE to visit!

Wonderful place, with a warm welcoming by the locals. Beautiful beaches for surfing or just a nice dive into the sea. You can find cheap places to eat or if you want something fancy you can find it too.
J D — Google review
Pipa is a beautiful beach, when we visited over the Xmas holidays it was very clean and looked taken care of. In my opinion, it's best to arrive there early in the day when the water is at low tide. Then you have more time to explore or just sit in the many pools of sea water. In the afternoon the tide returns and pretty soon there is nowhere to sit as the beach floods. There's a variety of places that serve food and drinks, as well as many sellers that set up shop on the beach selling food, drinks and souvenirs. Most of these sellers are cash only so be prepared. Bars and restaurants take cash, debit, and credit cards.

(Translated by Google) Ponta Grossa Beach in Icapuí is a great option for those who like more secluded/calmer beaches. The place is beautiful and has an incredible sunset over the dunes! At the restaurant located very close to the beach, you can take a buggy and quad bike ride. The buggy ride includes several beaches in the region and is a two-hour ride, ending at the dunes; the ride costs on average 200/250 reais (payments accepted in cash and by debit/credit card). The company I used for the tour was Canaã Turismo and the buggy driver was very attentive.

(Translated by Google) There are natural pools, but with rocks, a good walk with beautiful landscapes, a lot of seaweed on the beach can be smelly, but only for a short space before Ponta Grossa beach. It is best to take a buggy ride for up to 3 hours in the morning, and if the tide is low you can go along the beach. There is no place near the beach with infrastructure that offers shops, restaurants, swimming pools...

(Translated by Google) Ponta Grossa Beach in Icapuí, a beautiful natural cliff that will leave you speechless. There is no infrastructure for beach huts, so the beach is calm, especially at sunset. In the morning, there are some people selling drinks and snacks; the shrimp barbecue is delicious! A great beach for taking pictures, thanks to its landscape. (Translated by Google) A place with lush nature, where you can see everything from dunes to the seashore, cliffs, reefs and the view provided by the movement of the tides. When the tide is low, if you head to the right, you can access Redonda beach. In Ponta Grossa, you have options for restaurants, accommodation, buggy rides, quad bike rides and more. I had the opportunity to have lunch, and the fish was very well served and at a fair price. A very good place to spend a weekend. (Translated by Google) I loved the beach. It's a paradise-like and well-preserved place. There you can find lobster skewers and boat trips that take you to see the fish. Just one thing to keep in mind: Do this trip between 8 and 9 in the morning, because when the tide is high it's not a good trip. You can get hurt because of the corals, you swallow a lot of water and the guides encourage you to do it later, but it's not comfortable or safe for you. I have bruises on both arms and my back because I hurt myself, and I cut my toe. (Original) Amei a praia.

Amazing beach. Clear waters. Calm water. Hard to park in here. Be prepared to deal with an infinity of street salesman, and people chasing you to find parking and bring you to their beach club. It is difficult to avoid them. Sometimes you will need to be stern for them to leave you alone. The beach clubs are great to relax at the beach. They have a little bit of everything. Drink lots of coconut water. In the sand, there are many people people selling many things and lots of them are great options.

No visit to Natal is complete without a visit to the Dunes of Genipabu. Beach good for swimming with many nice restaurants. Highlight of a visit to Genipabu is driving with a buggy driver through the dunes of Genipabu.& a visit to its lake if not in dry season is to be recommended. Ferry to Jacumá is especially fun as your car or buggy is put onto a boat rowed across the narrow river with the route providing a coastal route to Pitangui and Muriú.

Nice beach to visit and surf. Close to the dunes, it offers a beautiful visual. It can get pretty dirty, though, cause people often drop waste on the sand... There could be more trash bins to try to encourage people to discard their waste properly (although this is no excuse).

Fantastic incredibly beautiful seaside village about half an hour north by road from Natal's bridges across Rio Potengi from Natal, Rn. Beautiful safe to bathe beach lined with lots of beachside restaurants good for fish or meat dishes. Dunes above beach are awesome and maybe climbed by athletic & sure footed or tours led by buggy drivers available from US $60 through dunes from Genipabu village or from around US $ 100 from Natal. Tours may continue on to Pitangui & Cape Riangha eastern most point of Rio Grande do Norte state. In rainy season April to early August ;Genipabu near & after sunset is especially famous for it's mosquitos which seem to be a particular curse for fair skinned visitors. Hotel Genipabu high in hills with its own swimming pool tends to avoid the problems with mosquitos. Visitors should also try by car or buggy try the raft ferry at nearby Gracendu & see the seaside mansions of Natal's political elite. At weekends & in January & February village maybe at times crowded but midweek visits are usually quieter & much more rewarding.

Beautiful place with natural sand dunes and several entertainment options. You can choose to go on a buggy ride, do sandboarding, sand toboganning, camel rides (🐫🐫🐫) or enjoying the beach with local gastronomy. All places accept credit card but they charge an extra fee. Fortaleza dos Reis Magos

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Fortress
Located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Fortaleza dos Reis Magos is a 16th-century military fortification shaped like a star and perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. This historical landmark played a crucial role in defending the city and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. The fort's limestone embankment, cannons, and chapel add to its historical significance. It has been instrumental in repelling invaders and stands as an important symbol of Natal's history.
Bring water and sunscreen! It is a little walk and no shade at all. Tickets to get in are 5 reais full price or 2.5 reais for half price (students, seniors, etc.). You can buy these at the door with debit or Pix. The fort is beautiful and has a fantastic view of Natal and the bridge. It has a little bit of history inside of it but not much about the fort, so I would recommend reading on your own or maybe come with a tour guide if you’re really interested in history. A note for the foundation/museum of the fort: Please get the historical information rewritten. It is outdated and written very poorly and in a racist way against indigenous peoples and the colonial history of Natal.
Miguel S — Google review
the view is very nice. you get nice views of the city and the ocean. on the other hand the fortress is not well preserved and does not have enough exhibits to see. also the use of english in the signs is mainly in the three signs in the entrance
Alexis P — Google review
Fortaleza dos Reis Magos is a fortress located a bit outside the city of Natal. From the fortress, you have a great view over the ocean and the city. The entry fee was 3 Brazilian reals when we visited. It is worth a visit if you are interested in history or just enjoy a great view.
Corsin — Google review
People, how can you complain about a site that is free to enter!? You don’t need a guide, you can just enjoy the site and walk around, take nice photos. Be happy that they make this place available to the public for no cost! I enjoyed it!

Note! My photos are older, before renovation took place! Great historical place, currently renovated which has given the whole building a new life! A great place to take photos, with a wonderful beach next to it and natural pools. A wonderful piece of history! Daytime sightseeing is recommended as the site is away from everything. Cultural heritage site!

Ponta Negra

Ponta Negra Beach is a renowned destination in Natal, attracting tourists with its beautiful beach, iconic Morro do Careca dune, and abundance of hotels, restaurants, and activities. This picturesque spot offers clear waters for swimming and various water sports to enjoy. It's a must-visit location for those seeking relaxation and fun by the sea. Additionally, nearby Pitangui Beach and Punau Beach offer stunning landscapes along the North Coast for visitors to explore.
Natal, a splendid sea city located in the warmest part of Brazil, the northeast, with astonishing, sandy white beaches, including its most popular one, the PRAIA PONTA NEGRA, easily recognizable by its landmark MORRO DO CARECA (Brazilian for "the bald hill"). The water temperature in this part of the land, is the best thing that your body and soul can experience, being perfectly warm all year around. Outside the water you've got a tropical-wet climate with the ocean breeze mitigating the, otherwise, oppressive heat. Probably my favorite kind of climate. Praia Ponta Negra is a very pretty urban-beach, with its beautiful promenade, palm trees and delicious bars and restaurants. All you have to do is grab a coconut from a local seller, put your canga (Brazilian for beach towel) on the white, soft sand, call a local masseur (scattered all over the beach) that will give you the best relaxing moments and then go for a swim in the warm ocean. To end a perfect day, go to a restaurant by the beach, and eat one of the best sea food in Brazil. I definitely recommend trying the "caranguejo", which means crab. If you happen to be in Natal, Ponta Negra is a fantastic must!
Jack B — Google review
I have never had so much pain as a day at this beach. As it is so steep, the big Atlantic rollers crash right on the beach front. There are sharp rocks right there under your feet. If you look, you will not see many people in the water, and not for very long. It looks beautiful, but I would never go in that water again

I lived in the Ponta Negra area for a year and all I can say about this place is that it's amazing and I will always miss it. The beach can be a bit croweded sometimes but it's totally worth the visit.

Nice beach, however, vendors can be irritating.

Loved this beach. Overall it was relatively clean but varies depending on where you are on the beach. Areas that less people frequent are cleaner. The nice part about this beach is that it is so long, nice sand, smooth walk into the water with a sandy bottom, nice waves, and no shortage of food and drink options.

This beach is nice, right in Natal. 45 Minutes south is Pipa, where the beaches tend to be cleaner. However, there are some nice hotels, bed and breakfasts and resorts in Natal that look quite nice. This beach was very fun and busy, excellent beach side service, most beach side vendors will go out of their way to bring whatever you want, for a price of course, though reasonable in the end.

Morro do Careca, also known as Bald Hill, is a prominent landmark in Natal, Brazil. This 390-ft sand dune offers stunning views and is often featured on postcards of the city. The surrounding area boasts amenities such as beach huts, restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Natal's showcase! When someone says Natal, RN you immediately see Morro to Careca in your mind. A beautiful sand dune seen from the entire length of the beach. TOP SPOT! Lots of activities all around, including trips to wild beaches!

Average beach...Ok for a walk and some photos, but not the greatest beach by far.
Jeffery B — Google review
I downgraded from five to three stars since something terrible occurred: the beach suffered a process of fattening by a Dutch company. This consisted of removing sand from the bottom of the sea at some 500 to 700 meters and dumping it to the beach, pushing the beach away by approximately 100 meters. Can it get worse? YES! The new sand contains calcareous residues of marine life that hurts one's feet. Or worse, if you try to rest horizontally. Only experts can swim, now, since where you can jump into the water the sea is deep and waves are high. The picture illustrates a sample of smaller shells and calcified algae that populate the beach now. Nov 2025 Situation is improving: the sea is advancing again, especially near the Careca dune. The sea is dragging the sand. However you mus use special shoes to swim because the giant 'pebbles'. will cut your feet. These pebbles came with the sand removed from the bottom of the see, during the illegal fattening of the beach. Picture of my collection of these objects :

Great place to visit, get a dolphin tour at the beach and you will have a great view
Christian K — Google review
Go to the end of the beach where the sales man don't have easy access. There you will find a calmer, cleaner and peaceful space to relax. In general the beach is very noisy and full of people saling you things. No jokes, all the time! But it still possible to find areas to relax and enjoy. The water is clean (considering that you are in front of a big city) and the safety feeling is good enough. I recommend it as an afternoon walk for couples or solo travelers.

It's not super exciting, but as a symbol of Natal, a visit is certainly warranted. It's going to be smaller than you expected when you saw it from a distance. Also, it's fenced off. However, be sure to stop at Aloha and/or Old Five (Aloha is better) on your walk to or from Morro do Careca.
Tyler F — Google review
Morro do Careca (“bald hill” in Portuguese) is the main symbol of the city of Natal and the state of Rio Grande do Norte. It measures 120 meters (390 ft.). In the past, Morro do Careca was a spot for recreation and entertainment. The bathers and tourists would climb up the hill and come down with the help of a device called skibunda (“bunda” is Portuguese for “butt”—you’d sit on a board and ski down the slope). Since the end of the 1990s, it has been closed to visitors. The reason for the closure was to protect the dunes; the preservation of the vegetation will aid in safeguarding against erosion, ensuring that the sand does not slip and thus reduce the height of the hill. At present, all activity on the dune remains suspended. The scene also brings together a sea full of bathers, surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers, in addition to the stand-up paddle crowd. It is frequented by locals and tourists, who fill the tents on the boardwalk and the shore. The best spot for bathing is in the right corner, between the end of the boardwalk and Morro do Careca. There, the sea is calmer and also has the long-time restaurant, the Old Five Beach Bar.

Cajueiro da Praia de Pirangi is home to the world's largest cashew tree, covering an impressive 2 acres with its twisting branches. The tree has been continuously growing and now spans almost a city block. Visitors can enjoy free entry, including disabled individuals and their companions. The park also features numerous stores offering cashew-themed goods. From a top view, you can witness 80% of the total plant area.
I loved the place. I also liked the explanation given to us by a member of staff that works there. Interesting experience

The place is incredible, one true wonder of nature. The guides explain briefly how the tree got so big and how old not could be (135 years at the time of writing this review) the view is impressive too. Lots of opportunities for photos inside as well.

Fascinating cashew tree, apparently it's the biggest cashew tree on earth. The entry fee is very low. You can walk through the inside of the tree. In the middle of the tree are some guides who talk about the history of the tree (unfortunately, only in Portuguese). At the end of the tour, there is a Platform where you get to see the tree from above.

Great place to visit. The structure there is quite good, the place is organized and clean. The guides are polite and attentive, and explain all the small details about the tree. There is also a very quaint souvenir fair outside the tree square, where you can find clothes and smash gifts.

Praia Baía dos Golfinhos Pipa is a natural, long sandy beach known for its dolphin watching opportunities and kayak rentals. To reach the beach during low tide, visitors have to walk through Praia do Porto. The sight of dolphins in the water is a major draw, offering the chance to swim, kayak, or stand-up paddle right next to them. As the sun sets, the experience becomes even more magical as a pod of dolphins makes their daily pilgrimage to the bay.
Totally worth visiting either on foot or by boat! Spectacular nature display and the dolphin watching is definitely a plus!!!

Charlotte C — Google review
In my opinion this is the nicest beach in town. Not just because of the regular sightings of Pipa's native dolphin colony, but also because it's a 10 minute walk from the central beach and so somewhat quieter and cannot easily be accessed during high tide.

The area is renowned for its stunning sunrise and sunset phenomena. However, accessing Praia do Amor involves negotiating a considerable number of rocks even at low tide.
Great view of Praia do Amor from up here and really a fun experience to look at the geology of the area. The prices of drinks and coconuts up here is quite high, so I recommend to just come by to look and take pictures for a minute before going. Bring sunglasses as it is sunny and there is no shade. No bathrooms around either.

(Translated by Google) I'm enchanted by Sagi beach and the simplicity and charm of this region. It has beautiful handicrafts by Ademir, a lovely, calm beach. The only downside is the many buggies and 4x4s that pass by heading to the border, and they often travel along the beach. Otherwise, it's a super pleasant place. Beautiful guesthouses, a few restaurants on the beach, and that's it. There's no entertainment outside of the beach.

Guest house
Nature & Parks
Beaches
The lodging experience at Sua Casa na Barra de Mamanguape was peaceful and relaxed. The Araca flat was well-maintained and equipped with essential kitchen amenities such as a refrigerator, stove, and basic cooking items. Nilton, the host, provided us with helpful guidance on places to eat and visit. However, there were a few drawbacks including intermittent WiFi connectivity issues during the night and limited television programming that often froze due to unstable internet connection.

(Translated by Google) It was a wonderful experience. From the initial service, to the people who were recommended for tours, food... A quiet place, and with people who seem to be unaware of the parallel world to those who live in the city, I felt very welcomed, and I will never forget the couscous that is on the street behind the house, the owner is a lovely person.

Fort of Santa Catarina

Mentioned on

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Forte de Santa Catarina is a collection of reconstructed Portuguese military buildings dating back to the 16th century, located in Cabedelo, Paraiba, Brazil. Originally built for defense against Dutch attacks during Portuguese rule, the fort still houses original cannons and a nearby chapel. Despite lacking detailed historical information and being partially demolished to accommodate the neighboring Port of Cabedelo, it remains an important part of Brazilian history.

Great Ducth fortress. I saw a play there and it was great.
Gerson A — Google review
An important historical landmark left alone without proper maintenance and signs. No timeline, no guided stations with written information, rusting cannons, grass all over the place, dirt and solid residues in the back. Tickets sell for R$2 a person (US$ 0.30) which obviously don't cover basic costs. No companies sponsor the site although it is next door neighbor to Petrobras and the Port of Cabedelo. It is a must visit place in a dismal condition.
Antonio B — Google review
The only vestige of the Portuguese military presence in this area from the 17th century, if you are in the area and like history, it’s worth a visit. Unfortunately, there is almost no information about the history of the structure or the few displays within it, and the fort is not complete (one point of the star-shaped fort appears to have been demolished to accommodate the neighboring Port of Cabedelo).

Porto de Cabedelo

Sights & Landmarks
Piers & Boardwalks
Porto de Cabedelo, located in a small town, is gaining importance as a commercial hub for cargo transportation between Brazilian ports and international destinations. Despite some language barriers with the local population, the port offers a great experience with customs and friendly officials who are accommodating to sailors. It is noted for its efficient functioning and serves as an important link for maritime trade.

Small town ship nice place . Difficult to manage local people don't know English. Bus use sign language.

The port of Cabedelo is the only port in the Brazilian state of Paraiba. It’s a small port that handles mostly grain (if you need to ship something by container, this isn’t the port for you); there’s also a ferry terminal for ferryboats that cross the Paraiba River between the city of Cabedelo and Lucena. It also sits in front of Kilometer 0 of the Trans-Amazonian Highway (the BR-230), which is 4000 kilometers (2400 miles) long, making it the 3rd longest highway in Brazil. The ruins of the Fort Santa Catarina (constructed in 1586) is also nearby. I use this port because of the ferry. It’s a picturesque location, because across from the port, there is a deserted island with white sand beaches. You can even see porpoises or rays swimming in the channel every now and then.
