(Translated by Google) Nice hostel, it has bathrooms, showers to use and a nice view, its snack/breakfast section leaves a lot to be desired, everything is very basic, without much variety and in our case the waitress we had had less desire to work than a bricklayer on a holiday.

Nice old fishing pier. As of January 2022, couple bucks entrance fee.

I have great childhood memories of this place, as I used to go fishing on this muelle (pier) with my cousins every summer. This pier is open 24 hours and offers visitors the option to visit or do some fishing (there is an entrance fee). There is a fishing store where you can rent a medio mundo (dip net) and purchase other fishing gear. There is also a restaurant and washrooms on the pier. It is important to be careful if you go with young children, as the railing is quite low in some areas. Definitely a place to visit if you stop in Mar de Ajo.

Excellent beach, not dirty as most would believe, and incredibly not as cold as I imagined (the water), the climate is very warm as expected and there are plenty of life guards and beach services. Also if you are lucky you may even see a sea lion, we found one relaxing on the beach as the sea was very rough, he decided to take a brake and get a tan.

The Provincial Museum of Contemporary Art MAR, also known as the MAR Museum, is a striking modern museum located on the waterfront promenade in the north of the city. The building itself is a modern standout with a large sea lion sculpture covered in wrappers of famous local alfajores. Inside, visitors can explore temporary works by local, national, and international artists. This museum offers tours and has a cafe for visitors to enjoy.
The MAR is a huge space, open, airy, and filled with plenty of room to let your mind wander. The exhibitions are beautifully framed, and the contemporary art on display is truly captivating. One piece that really caught my attention was a video about creating new organs, a thought provoking work that explores how far humans can go in manipulating animals for our own benefit, often without considering their souls. It was unsettling but fascinating at the same time. The only real downside was the condition of the bathrooms, they were dirty and had an unpleasant smell. Still, aside from that, visiting the MAR is a great experience, especially on a rainy Saturday when you’re looking for something inspiring to do in Mar del Plata.

Good place, free entrance. But the contemporary art could be different, and in this museum I felt it was like meh… If you can mess around with things and pit them in a museum, it’s not enough to name it art. But the museum itself is good. If you have some time in Mar Del Plata, that’s a go-to place.

A good hide out place. No English though. Far from downtown. Very petite place with 3 rooms (the 4th is closed) of less than 30 items to see. Not crowded. Very commercial with little to no Argentina theme.

This is small but cool museum. It has a lot of multimedia as well as some more traditional art pieces. Very family friendly and right across the street from the ocean, which makes it a unique experience. Not a destination in itself, but definitely one of the things to do while in Mar del Plata

The restaurant Torreón del Monje in Mar del Plata is situated on a beautiful terrace with wonderful views of the bay, and serves delicious food. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the views.
Excellent place to come have a light bite, coffee was decent and orange juice was fresh and large

Merienda: late afternoon tea time with friends. The location is really nice as it is right next to the ocean. You have seatings inside or outside, but it could get a bit chilly when the Sun is not out. Probably much warmer in the Summer which is a few weeks away… We ordered a latte, 2 hot chocolate (submarino which is way better than the regular hot chocolate made with powder!), an apple crumble, a medialuna and 2 medialunas with ham and cheese. My favorite is definitely the “submarino” which you should try while in town. The service was standard, however the downside of this place is the acoustics… not over crowded, but real noisy! Not very pleasant to have to raise your voice to chat with your friends or family. If you take a walk along the beach and need a quick stop then it is ok, but I would not plan to stay and enjoy the view because of the noise level…

Torre Tanque, an imposing Gothic-style building declared a National Historic Architectural Monument, offers breathtaking views of the entire city from its 88-meter height. Visitors can enjoy a cool-off at nearby water parks with slides, wave machines, and zip lines after climbing the tower. Additionally, the Diagonal de los Artesanos craft fair in the beautiful residential neighborhood of Stella Maris is perfect for finding handmade jewelry and leather goods.
Very cool place to visit if you're in the area, and totally free. Opening hours were 8am-5pm and staff were very good at providing information about the tank tower. You can get an elevator to the top which offers amazing 360 views around Mar Del Plata, each side offering a very different view. If this review was helpful please give it a like :) enjoy

Puerto de Mar del Plata is a vibrant hub of activity, where the salty sea air mingles with the tantalizing aroma of fresh seafood. This bustling port, located just 8 kilometers south of the city center, is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience Argentina's rich maritime culture. As you stroll along the docks, you'll be captivated by the sight of colorful fishing boats and may even catch a glimpse of playful sea lions scavenging for scraps.
It is always beautiful, doesn't matter the season. You can see the fishermen working and the sealions having the time of their lives! There's also a street mall where you can buy souvenirs and support local vendors. Nearby there is a commercial center with different restaurants all owned by local familiels

Not the most beautiful dock I have ever been to, but still pretty nice. Located in the south part of mar del plata it can be reached by many public buses or walked along. Many old ships and history, boat trips, stores and especially the sea wolves are its main attractions. Be aware of the nasty smell though, especially on windy days!
Trachemysta — Google review
It is a good place, quiet, with enough people if you go in high season. You must be able to withstand the smell of sea lion, it is quite strong. There are also small shops where you can sit down to eat or buy to go, they sell a lot of fish, all kinds, and other aquatic animals. If you don't like fish, there are also foods without it in the different places of fast food.

Great place to enjoy the typical landscape 'serrano', it's amazing. But I have never understand anything about handkerchiefs. That seem a commercial ritual, even there is a man charging parking in free terrain. Would be better someone telling the history of this place.

Even though the rock formation and area are beautiful, it was packed with people and the main attraction seemed to be the commerce of religion, which was sad, specially since it was a huge mix of everything. A fantastic celebration of five-time World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio. Few (if any) places will have such a collection of classic race cars from the 1950s and few more modern ones. A wonderful and very provincial museum in a tiny town... Like the title for a novel! We can discuss for a long time why copies of Mercedes are needed here or that the quality of restoration and completeness of many exhibits is extremely questionable. All this is far from Europe. And this is good! Because here you have the opportunity to look at the design of the suspension with a flashlight, crawl your head into the cockpit, or see what kind of file the champion Ferraris were made with... The exhibits are almost not separated from the visitors and this is very nice! But, children and random people will be bored. All the interactivity in the museum is from the mid-twentieth century...

The MUHBA, or the Museum of History of Barcelona, is a captivating destination that beautifully intertwines historical artifacts with contemporary exhibitions. Visitors can explore thoughtfully arranged rooms showcasing both past and present elements, making for an enriching experience. The museum also offers opportunities to engage with exhibitors, adding a personal touch to your visit. While it's free to enter and enjoy this cultural gem, navigating there could be made easier with better signage along Route 55.

The collection of exhibits is excellent, and I really enjoyed the "Minimal Stories" section, which allowed me to learn about the people who reflect and shape Balcarce's identity. I'm aptly named for the entrance gate, designed by Francisco Salamone and located in the center of Balcarce's main square. It once housed a circular pastry shop called "La Tortas de Boda" (Wedding Cakes). The gate was demolished, and the municipality recovered this gate and displayed it in this museum.
