Tandil

Tandil is a town near the Sierras de Tandil range in central Argentina. The Tradicionalista Fuerte Independencia Museum focuses on local history. At Cerro La Movediza is a replica of a huge boulder that was balanced on the summit until it fell in 1912. A chairlift leads up Cerro Centinela, also topped by a rock. To the south is Sierra del Tigre, a protected area of pampas home to llamas and pumas.

El Centinela is a hilltop park located about 6 km from Tandil, offering open views of the countryside. The park features a famous rock formation known as 'El Centinela,' which balances on its point and provides panoramic views of Tandil and its surroundings. Visitors can take a chairlift to reach the top and enjoy various activities such as zip lines, horseback rides, and mountain biking.

The chairlift costs $9000 peso which isn't really worth the price. There's a small artificial forest in the above station, a coffee shop and a very small area of grass where you can enjoy the sunshine. Nothing else. Everywhere is protected by the wire fence. I suppose there are better places to enjoy such views or nature in the surrounding area. The circle of the rock takes 10 min no more.

(Translated by Google) Nice place to spend the afternoon, take photos and enjoy nature, there is a chairlift that costs $10,000, you can bring food or eat there, otherwise there are two places to eat, there is one that is larger but is usually full, although it has tables outside and the other is smaller and they also sell sweet things to take away.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful place! Truly a natural beauty. There are chairlifts to go up, but we didn't take them; the rock is to the right of the place! I don't know what's up there. We actually went to see the rock. The size of the rock in that position is spectacular. I recommend it as an activity. It's also easy to get to, and there's not much of a trail. (Original) Hermoso lugar!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful place, but no investment. Old and poorly maintained. The chairs were closed and looked like they were from the 1960s. It's a shame because it's in a prime location. (Translated by Google) A nice place to spend some time. There's a free outdoor parking lot. You can walk around the base. If you want to reach the summit, you absolutely must take the chairlift. This costs $10,000 pesos per person. You ascend 60 meters and the ride takes 8 minutes. At the top, there's a rest stop, and you can take a short (20-minute) hike that ends in a small forest. The views from the chairlift are beautiful.

Piedra Movediza was a 300-ton granite rock that fell from a hill in Tandil, Argentina in 1912. A replica of the rock was erected on the same spot in 2007 and has become a significant symbol of the city. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the city and exercise while exploring the park where the replica is located. Although small, it is worth visiting to see this historic landmark which remains an impressive feat of balance and weight despite being a fake copy.
This is a beautiful touristic place to visit. Is one of the places to go when you are in Tandil. The story is cool and is a really smooth hike on stone stairs, the view is really nice.
Maria M — Google review
Another remarkable place from Tandil. This one is more prepared and adapted to receive tourist of many kinds.. the path is full of stairs which make it safer for you and for them the base places at the top of the hill is made of wood and the distance between tables might be a little challenging for your dog however is not impossible to walk through it (Filippa my pet got an small bruise there) it does not take out the fact that is a nice place for outdoor walking Highly recommended @dog_of_baires
Sepe 9 — Google review
Totally bullshit. The rock on top is basically fake (copy of an original one that felt years ago), supported by metal structure. The view is pretty though, but it's the most uninteresting place that we visited in Tandil.
Julia K — Google review
Came in summer. Nice to do in the morning before is too hot since there is no shadow. Good view of the city. No need to pay to enter the park. Small can be seeing in 1 hour. The rock is a fake one and it looks fake, they should paint correctly. The original fell long time ago. And they should put the more protections to go down.
Alia J — Google review
Nice walk and nice views of the city. The stone fell a long time ago and was replaced by something resembling a rock though.
Luis G — Google review
Nice place to exercise a bit. Also the view is amazing and air, the air is just so pure.
Alexis B — Google review
Climbing up a huge flight of stairs only to see a REPLICA of a teetering boulder? It lacks authenticity if it were for me (though the story behind why there's a replica of it sorta makes sense). Nevertheless, you get to take in Tandil in its entirety. And it does feels satisfactory!

Cured ham store
Nestled at the historic intersection of 14 de Julio and San Martin, Epoca de Quesos is a charming blend of restaurant, delicatessen, and family museum that dates back to 1860. Originally established as a stagecoach stop by pioneer Ramon Santamarina, this gem has been lovingly restored by the Inza family.
Amazing place, the house have a great history and you can visit briefly as a museum, the place is one of the oldest houses in Tandil and it keeps the structure from back in the 19 century. It also has a tapa bar and restaurant, and is a store to buy delicious cheeses and salames.
Maria M — Google review
The place is just beautiful. The service as well. Definitely a must!! I am putting 4 stars only because the amount of cheese and meats they serve is not for 2 but for 4 or 5… and it’s a shame to leave so much food on the table. After eating we found there is a smaller size, but it’s not on the menu (and it does not have the same variety of products) Tomato juice was excellent! Homemade.
Dario K — Google review
Nice shop and super nice restaurant. Good prices and good quality of cheese. One thing to consider - restaurant doesn't have meals for dinner, it's mostly a place to eat "picada" - some cheese and wine. But portions are great, the atmosphere is nice and totally worth visiting - just not with the idea to eat dinner.
Julia K — Google review
Great food, old style building. Try the meat and cheese trail.
Agustina C — Google review
This is an awesome place, takes you back in time. We were able to sit in the back by a huge fireplace on some knee level high chairs and tables. The decor is why you go. I could not give 5 stars because the cheeses are just plain and though they have a huge selection, most take similar. Still a place to go to and visit.
Charles-Etienne R — Google review
This is a must for any traveler. Indeed has the original look from the old days, plus all the tasty cheeses and local products. It's full of historic memorabilia, posts, lamps and related stuff. Tables outside are very nice, and you can also have some snack inside.

Whenever you go to Tandil people will recommend you to take cheese and sausages as a souvenir, and most of them will point you out to these interesting shop and restaurant where you can try a big variety of cheeses in many kinds and then a shop to buy whatever you like and take it home. Interesting approach Unfortunately for us it didn’t allow pets which could not make a good experience for us @dog_of_baires

Época de Queso has well done early 19th century feel. A variety of antique items are part of the restaurant’s unique decor. The food is worth the visit. Needs a more welcoming service to match the quality of the ambiance and good food.

La Pulperia Parrilla, located in Tandil, Argentina, is renowned for its delicious churrasqueria and parrillada. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff, particularly Fernanda, who ensures that guests feel welcome. Dishes like the asado and vacio are highly praised for their flavor and quality. Situated outside the city, it's a great option for lunch or dinner after sightseeing.

(Translated by Google) Today we visited El Criollo Restaurant, which offers a variety of grilled meats and pasta! We ordered the weekend suggestion plate, which included an empanada as a starter, a main course with three cuts of meat, and dessert, a side dish, and a drink separately. Everything was delicious and the dishes were generous. I had read a review that the meat was tough. On the contrary, it was cooked very well, juicy, and super tender, just the way I like it and how a good barbecue should be eaten! They also have soft drinks and 1.5-liter flavored waters. That's another thing that stood out because you can't finish your meal with a 500-liter glass of water. Other restaurants should take that into account. Since dessert was included, we couldn't be more satisfied, even though we were super satisfied. The menu: 1 empanada + plate with three cuts of meat + dessert = 26.000 The place was spacious, very warm, and the service was excellent. Another place to visit in Tandil! What's more, the meat lacked seasoning and flavor. They have only 4 tastes to choose from. You can order a snack that was quite well served, and draft craft beer (very good). The attention is an aspect to highlight in addition to the picturesqueness of a typical country general store. (Translated by Google) It has been a long time since we visited them but their growth is surprising. The empanadas are very delicious and homemade. The smoked loin empanada stood out on our palates. In order not to go with high expectations, the place is a bar with a wild or rustic atmosphere that we liked, it looks like an old grocery store. You never get tired of seeing everything that is hanging on the walls. It is not a 3 star resto. The attention of the boys can be improved in the details, it is difficult to find them if you have a need. To eat the empanadas, they don't give you a plate, only napkins, but they gave us 6 napkins and there were 4 of us. Since they were juicy empanadas, those napkins weren't even enough to start using as a plate. The black craft beer is rich, well made. In short, it is a bar with homemade snacks and empanadas and if you go looking for that, you will be satisfied with the experience. We will return. The only thing that made us lower the atmosphere by one star was that getting there was a bit gloomy, haha. The road is unlit, and it was a very windy and cold night, but they're not responsible for that. Carlos plays the piano very well and puts on a live show.

(Translated by Google) Carlos, a person who mesmerizes with anecdotes and stories. Monica, a woman who captivates with a smile that exudes warmth. From the little hand she gives you when you arrive, to the goodbye you get when you see the little railroad, which is a mini trip back in time. I found this place by chance, and it's a home you miss without ever leaving. A wonderful experience. Thank you ❤️. Everything is so delicious and loving. A gastronomic and human experience that embraces you.

(Translated by Google) Incredible fondue house in Tandil. It's made with cheese and meat, but not fried. It's cooked in broth and wine. An incredible combination. A must-have dinner on a trip to that city. (Translated by Google) A truly wonderful place!! Run by its owners, Carlos and Mrs., who are really attentive to everything. We had, in addition to a beautiful experience, an incredible night. The cheese fondue is very delicious, and the meat fondue is spectacular, with a vegetable broth, wine and a touch of magic. The caramelized onions and broth are truly crazy. An experience that you will not find in any restaurant. Without a doubt we will return Don't forget to visit it, it is only by reservation!! Call and save your table, they serve Fridays and Saturdays. Thank you for everything. The place is somewhat remote, and that adds even more value!! (Original) Un lugar realmente maravilloso!!

No pre-made or pre-made sauces... with the liquor, and everyone with eyes open (they understand what they know). Wine is only available, no more than three. Homemade desserts, and no more than two. Truly served by the owners. Exquisite people... (They might even share the key to good living with you.) Go if you can.
