Remote cove with calm water for swimming & a snorkeling reef, plus a few pocket-sized beaches.
Brilliant day out, only draw back was, advertised with snorkeling equipment and they do not have on boat... woukd if been nice to have known and i would of bought some prior ... skipper was great,
Mark B — Google review
Tourist Trap during the season ! Super crowded with many boat and tourists boats, makes it a poor experience. Yes the blue water is there but no way to have a decent and safe swimming. So find some beach and go there instead of waisting time ! Have fun
Rami L — Google review
Its a must. We had a great time by boat. As you can imagine, full of tourists, but enough space for you to enjoy the clear and deep waters.
May V — Google review
One of the must-see tourist attractions in South Cyprus. Water is beautiful and crystal clear. The water was chilly (understandable), you can swim or snorkel. Due to constant docking of tourist boats, you probably won’t be able to see much of sea life. The depth of water is about 2-3m. There are two options how to get there – by the boat or with the car / mountain bike. If you go by car, be sure to use jeep or any off-rode car. When I visited it in March, luckily it was not overcrowded.
Matúš K — Google review
Make sure you are professional hiker if you decide to take a walk/hike to the Blue Lagoon, otherwise you will get exausted when you get there and you will still have to make a way back somehow. Especialy if you are with kids, you are doomed. Recommend taking one of these offroad cars to make the way to and back. Moreover, the blue lagoon itself is very beatiful but very rocky and is not meant for swimming - there is no beach. But views during the hike are stunning, plan the whole day for it.
Vladimirs I — Google review
Lovely bit of snorkelling while mountain biking over the Akamas. Only accessible by boat or with off-road vehicles or mountain bikes.
Derek S — Google review
Amazing experience, try to take a quad if you can. Pull off and go swimming at different spots, blue lagoon is nice, but so much more to see along that coast. Lots of families / locals will just claim portions of the beach but plenty of room to share. Not much shade so bring a tent or cover if You plan on staying long. Also be careful as some roads are dangerous
David H — Google review
We have been here in mid-October, it was wonderful. We came with jeep from Aphrodite baths, it was convenient and not too bumpy. We think it is better than the boat, because you can lay on the beach, and stay longer. The water is crystal clear, nice snorkeling spots at the left side.

Restaurant Baths Of Aphrodite

Restaurant
Baths Of Aphrodite Restaurant is a family-owned gem with stunning coastal and sea views. The owners and staff go above and beyond to provide exceptional service, even assisting with unexpected needs like helping mothers with strollers or capturing beautiful photos for customers. The food is amazing, offering a variety of dishes including omelettes, hand-cut chips, village salads, and delicious tuna sandwiches. The restaurant provides fantastic value for money in an idyllic location that's perfect after a swim in the sea.
I came across this restaurant in a stunning location while visiting the Baths of Aphrodite! Not wanting a full meal, I ordered a latte, dessert, and vino! The views were breathtaking, the weather was perfect, and it was one of the most relaxing times of my trip! Truly memorable!!
Arch S — Google review
I really liked the restaurant, the food was delicious and fresh, the staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is by the sea, on the very edge of the cliff. The view is amazing. Beautiful view during the day, and also after sunset. You can see the entire coast, illuminated by the lights coming from the local towns. Thanks to the hosts for a great evening.
Linas K — Google review
🌟 Such a wonderful experience! The staff here are incredibly nice — so friendly, welcoming, and generous. They even offered us several things on the house, which made us feel extra special. On top of that, the view from the restaurant is absolutely beautiful, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal. Highly recommend!🌟
Maria L — Google review
Excellent experience! The seafood was fresh and delicious, with prices that were very reasonable. The view was outstanding, and the service was quick and friendly. To top it off, we received the complimentary desserts, which was such a touch. Highly recommend!
Anastasiya — Google review
The view is amazing. The food is ok, could be better (more tasteful). They did however brought complementary bread with garlic and watermelon as well as a very delicious honey pie at the end of our dinner. That was a really nice move.
Despina M — Google review
Such a nice restaurant with an incredible view! The staff was so nice and welcoming (especially thanks to Niruda for your generosity and kindness 🙏🏼🥹)! The food got served really quickly and it was really tasty (best mangoes!) and also the wine is recommend. Will definitely come again 🩵
Julia T — Google review
Amazing views from the terrace, make sure you ask for the light menu as they only gave us the mains at 15-20 euro each. Sandwiches start at about 10 euro. Really good value for money and worth a visit
Mark E — Google review
Beautiful terraced taverna with stunning views across the coast stretching over the Akamas peninsula. Food was tasty, service attentive and quick, good fresh fish options. Really enjoyable.

Coral Bay is a picturesque crescent-shaped ocean bay located six kilometers north of Paphos Town in Cyprus. The bay offers clear and calm waters, making it an ideal spot for swimming and water sports such as water skiing and diving. The area also provides amenities like boat rentals, inflatables for children, and nearby dining options. Visitors can enjoy the spacious sandy beach with plenty of parking spots, toilets, and a café.
Beautiful beach! Got here with the family. Got 2 sun bed (7.50€) next to a restaurant. You have water sport activities, we took the sofa couch (20€each). It was lovely!
Anat O — Google review
Sandy beach, clear water, and a beautiful relaxing atmosphere, suitable for families. The prices are the same as other beaches we visited in Cyprus: €2.5 for a sunbed, €2.5 for an umbrella, or €7.5 for a full set (2 beds + 1 umbrella). Highly recommend, one of the best beaches in Paphos
Nader D — Google review
Great beach! Loads of sand and free onsite parking. You can rent sun beds or just flop out a towel like we did :) Nice and safe to leave your stuff on the beach whilst you swim, no pickpockets about! 1€ to use the showers (BYO towel), free to use the toilets. They have somewhere to rinse off your feet too of course. Happy days! ☀️
Melesande C — Google review
Nice sandy beach, clear water. Little bit more crowded than other beaches we were at, but still nice, we were at evening and during sunset, but in a day there must be many people
Natália K — Google review
One of the largest sandy beaches in the area. You can rent sunbeds or stay on your towel, you can buy drinks and snacks. You can try some water sports also. Parking is also available.
Armand G — Google review
We visited Coral Bay Beach in June during our family holiday, and it quickly became one of our favourite spots in Cyprus. The beach itself is stunning – soft golden sand, calm shallow waters, and a backdrop of limestone cliffs. Perfect for families, especially with kids. Services & Facilities: Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent (around €2.50 each), and lifeguards are on duty. Toilets and showers are free to use and kept reasonably clean. There’s also a small kiosk where you can buy drinks and snacks – water is sold in plastic bottles, which is convenient but I wish there were more eco-friendly options. One detail we loved was the box with free beach toys for children – buckets, spades, and other sand-play items left by other families for anyone to use. Such a nice community touch that made Amelia’s day! Fees: Access to the beach is free, you only pay if you want a sunbed or umbrella. Parking nearby is also free, which is a big plus. Overall, Coral Bay is not just beautiful, it’s also well-organised, safe, and family-friendly. A place where you can spend the whole day swimming, relaxing, and enjoying the view – without worrying about a thing.
Oksana O — Google review
The best beach of Paphos: sandy and protected. Beautiful in the morning. Very pleasant to swim in the late afternoon. Unlikely there are too many houses all around.
Paolo V — Google review
Our first beach in Paphos! This is a great beach with minimal waves to relax at. It is also a great spot for sunset. The water was refreshing and much warmer than the beach by the Aphrodite Rock. Rental for chairs/umbrellas was very affordable at 7 euros. There are also a ton of spots to just lie down with your own towels. Family-friendly and ample parking.

Latsi Beach

Latsi Beach, also known as Laci or Latchi Beach, is a popular swimming spot with lifeguards and options for sunbed and umbrella rentals. It's one of the three best beaches near Polis, easily accessible via a pedestrian pathway from the village. The beach offers wonderful views and a relaxed atmosphere, making it perfect for a day of swimming and sunbathing.
Lovely beach with sun loungers and umbrellas. Lots of people in the sea including children. Good snorkeling a little further out. Nice breeze and plenty of free parking. Great beach side bars and restaurants.
Duncan S — Google review
Great beach, comfy sun loungers with a good choice of restaurants. Very clean and modern toilets.
Jack H — Google review
If you like a quiet beach, with a lot of space and pristine water, this is definitely a must to visit. It is a very clean beach, there were maybe 20 ppl in total end of July and the beach was veery big, also the sea even if a bit wavy, was super clean and clear. It was just perfect. Everything is there but shower is not free. Also there is a nice restaurant directly on the beach 5 minutes by walk that was very good. Definitely recommended. The only downside is to see human plastic trash everywhere, unfortunately there people not educated enough to appreciate this pearl and to think that everything is their property.
Maria A — Google review
Nice beach and very clean water- shingle not sand, so beach shoes advised. Comfy sunbeds €2.50 and brolly €2.50. Nice and quiet 2nd week of September. Nicer than the busier beaches near Coral Bay, but obviously need a car to get here (40mins). Lovely harbour a short walk away, with local fishing boats and fish restaurants, and a supermarket for cheaper drinks etc. It's no Mauritius or Caribbean beach, but it gets 4 Cypriot stars from me.
Huwgeth — Google review
Latsi Beach in Paphos is a coastal delight that offers a refreshing change from the more developed areas of Cyprus. The beach’s coarse sand and pebble landscape is complemented by the clear Mediterranean waters, inviting visitors to swim, sunbathe, and relax in a serene environment. The beach is praised for its relaxed vibe, which is a stark contrast to the bustling tourist spots. It’s a place where one can enjoy the simplicity of a seaside day out, with ample amenities like on-beach showers, toilets, and changing rooms ensuring comfort. For those who enjoy marine activities, Latsi Beach provides opportunities for snorkeling, especially around the man-made stone breakwater, where an abundance of fish can be observed in their natural habitat. The beach also accommodates less able visitors with a boardwalk that facilitates easy sea entry. Parking is convenient and reasonably priced, and the availability of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire adds to the ease of spending a full day at the beach. The local harbor and nearby ice cream shops offer delightful dining options, with smart, not overpriced menus that cater to a variety of tastes. In summary, Latsi Beach is an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful beach experience. Its combination of natural beauty, thoughtful facilities, and a laid-back atmosphere make it a must-visit location for both locals and tourists looking to escape the more crowded areas of Paphos.
Yanni — Google review
We want to a few beaches in western Cyprus and this was the best in my opinion. The downside for some is the gritty sand / pebbles, but with decent beach shoes you'll be fine. The advantages are low cost, great food in the beach restaurants, nice views (particularly at sunset) and, above all, relatively small and quiet. There are some changing booths and showers and good toilets by the harbour (across from the Inca cream place).
Byron F — Google review
€7.50 for 2 sunbeds with an umbrella. Some marine life for worth a snorkel. Steep beach to get in and out but lovely and warm (September) Nice atmosphere with restaurants along the front. Friendly staff. Nice gelato place. There is a car park right next to the beach which isn’t on maps but it was very busy. Plenty of parking between polis and latsi. Most take coins (roughly €2 for 6 hours) Pebble beach

Paphos Castle

Castle
Paphos Castle, originally a Byzantine fort, has a rich history of destruction and reconstruction. Over the years, it has served as a prison and warehouse for salt. The castle stands at the edge of Paphos harbor and is one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. It hosts various events throughout the year, including operas during the Paphos Aphrodite Festival.
Paphos Castle is a small but interesting historic site right by the harbor. It doesn’t take long to visit, but the views from the top are beautiful, especially at sunset. Worth a quick stop while walking along the promenade.
Yara B — Google review
Being so closed to the Archeological site, it’s a must. 2,5 euros per person to go in. Some steps, no lift available, not wheelchair friendly. You’ll spend maybe 10 minutes here, just to admire the views (not a lot to see besides that). It’s still worth it for the views. There’s an excellent ice cream shop nearby.
André M — Google review
Nice little place to visit on the harbour. Entrance fee was a few euros each and kids were free. Good vantage point across Paphos. One of the many treasures to explore here
David F — Google review
I'm afraid I have to disagree about this castle. Aside from the architecture itself, there was really nothing inside. And access is restricted to the platform only, with no possibility of visiting the tower. Considering the entrance fee is the same as for other castles in Cyprus (2.5 euros), I believe more could be done to enhance the visitor experience. Perhaps by adding historical displays or providing more information about Paphos and the castle’s significance.
NANA D — Google review
Restricted access and took us less than 2 minutes to walk up the stairs and around the top. €2.50 each Views were stunning. We went up for the sunset BUT they kick you out at 4:30pm (20 minutes before prime sunset time) Probably not worth the money but go once and then you’ve seen it!
Sophie L — Google review
You only need around 30 minutes to view the two floors of Paphos castle. There's not much to see inside except the history of the castle at the entrance, but you do get nice views of the Paphos harbour. Entrance fee is 2.50 euros.
Kypriopoulla — Google review
Not really worth the money (2,5€ p.p.). Staircase to the top floor (roof) is closed. Panel in the entrance is the only information about castle you will find. Just rocks and views
Jozef R — Google review
Very picturesque from outside,,we paid & went inside & were a wee tad disappointed inside as there wasnt anything it but staff at ticket counter was a friendly soul but we enjoyed the views & photo opportunities.

Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings

Mentioned on
+95 other lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Archaeological Site of the Tombs of the Kings is a vast necropolis dating back to the 3rd century BCE. It boasts underground tombs that were meticulously carved out of rock. The site offers a glimpse into ancient burial practices and architectural ingenuity. Additionally, visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the Medieval Castle, waterfront restaurants, ice-cream shops, cafes, and bars with stunning views across the water and harbor.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ When Dead Kings Flex Harder Than Your Holiday Villa Right, so you come here expecting some dusty old tombs carved into rock (which, fair enough, they are), but what you actually get is nature absolutely showing off whilst ancient history does its thing in the background. The archaeological site itself is properly impressive—massive underground chambers, intricate columns, and the kind of craftsmanship that makes you wonder how they managed without power tools and a decent coffee break. 🏛️ But here's the plot twist: the landscape steals the entire show. The way the golden stone contrasts with that ridiculously blue Mediterranean sky? Chef's kiss. The wild herbs growing between ancient stones? Pure poetry. You'll find yourself spending more time staring at the horizon than reading the information plaques (guilty 🙋). Top tips: Come early morning or late afternoon for the best light and fewer crowds. Wear proper shoes—it's rocky and uneven. Bring water and a hat because shade is scarce. And for the love of Zeus, don't rush through it. This place deserves at least an hour of your time, preferably two if you fancy some contemplative sitting on 2,300-year-old steps. 📷 Absolutely worth every cent of the entrance fee. Ancient royalty knew how to pick a view. 👑
Tom D — Google review
It's okay. We got some nice pictures. I quite like history/culture, but we walked all the way there and then walked around the huge site, so we were knackered before even starting. We didn't see the bus that takes you there until we'd explored the area a bit more, so I'd recommend looking for the tomb of kings bus if you don't have a transfer or bringing a card for a taxi, if you're not staying nearby. As others have said, they're not tombs of kings: they're tombs of officials, which was a bit disappointing to be honest. There are plaques dotted around to look at, and the map is perfectly readable (despite what others have said). However, you do have to buy the booklet for it. I think for the two of us the tickets and booklet came to about 10 euro. There's an early exit facing towards to beach, but I'm not entirely sure where it leads since we didn't take it. Final warning for the ladies - don't make the mistake of wearing flats and a long dress, if you visit. The area has lots of small rocks and stairs in and out of the tombs.
Jo — Google review
Very spaced out and hot, but beautiful ruins if you're into seeing them. The underground pillars, as I have photographed , were so beautiful. Not overly crowded with people, especially since it's spacious with a lot to see
Kyle F — Google review
An impressive site where you could spend half a day if you wanted, reading all the material and exploring every tomb. There was no queue to visit at midday on a weekend when I went, and the two euro entrance fee is very reasonable, which you can pay for by card. There’s not much shade around so take plenty of water but if you’re in the area then it’s a must visit.
Steve B — Google review
Must-See Historical Site (With a Major Caveat for Wheelchair Users) If you're a history enthusiast who loves exploring ancient structures, this site—with its incredible ancient tombs—is a must-visit. The experience is greatly enhanced by the small, informative notice boards placed at different locations, which give you excellent context on each tomb as you view it. The historical value alone makes this trip highly rewarding. Critical Accessibility Note (Power Wheelchair Users) Please read this if you require mobility assistance: While the site is spectacular, the paths are not wheelchair-friendly and present a significant challenge. They are very uneven, strewn with rocks and boulders, and navigating them was often more than difficult. I was lucky to have my daughter with me to help me through several difficult stages. I was unable to enter the tombs themselves due to these conditions, but I still found the visit worthwhile, if only for the magnificent views across the landscape. A positive note: I was not charged an entrance fee when visiting with my power wheelchair. In summary: Come for the history and the views, but be prepared for a very rough ride if you use a mobility device, and plan to bring assistance if possible.
Jacquie T — Google review
CLICKBAIT. No kings were buried here. So.. just tombs of rich families. Still pretty interesting. You will walk a lot, but i recommend downloading app "Pafos Unesco Park", which comes with easy map and audio guide, combined with tables on the site it's good enough. We spend here ~90 minutes.
Jozef R — Google review
A very interesting site where you could easily spend three hours exploring every nook and cranny, but is also easy to get round in an hour without feeling that you have missed anything. It's worth either reading up about the site or getting a guide book as there isn't a huge amount of information as you go round. We went off season and it was nice and quiet and a nice temperature. Good footwear and water needed. Well worth it.
Jon C — Google review
A beautiful, monumental place. You can feel the spirit of history. It's worth downloading the UNESCO app about this place, as it provides a guide with a wealth of interesting information.

Ancient Ruins
Kato Pafos Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1980, is a sprawling complex that encompasses remnants from various historical periods. This includes prehistoric sites, medieval structures, and Roman-era monuments. The park is renowned for its well-preserved mosaic floors depicting scenes from Greek mythology, found in several Roman villas within the site.
If you’re in Cyprus, this place is an absolute must. From stunning Roman mosaics to the Odeon theatre, Agora, ancient villas, and sacred sites — every step here takes you deeper into the island’s ancient past. We spent hours exploring the park, and it felt like walking through a massive open-air museum. The mosaics alone are worth the visit — especially the House of Dionysus, where colors and details have survived nearly 1700 years! The Odeon was another highlight — a small Roman amphitheatre with perfect acoustics and incredible atmosphere. It’s quiet, peaceful, and almost surreal to sit where Romans once gathered for music and theatre. ✅ Useful tips: • Go early in the morning — by midday it gets very hot and there’s little shade. • Wear comfortable shoes — paths are rocky and uneven. • Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen. • There are water vending machines placed around the park — super helpful!
Oksana O — Google review
Amazing Archaeological Site! Some of the best and abundant examples of roman mosaics ive ever seen. We went in August and it was hotter than hell so be prepared for the heat as there is very little shade and it's a very large site! Wasn't very busy, very cheap entry and plenty of free parking!

Great place lots to see, very hot but the sea breeze helps. We spent approx 1 hour. If you can imagine it’s like an whole village has been discovered. The mosaic’ s have been well preserved and are stunning in the level of detail. What would be good is for a vitual/3d model was produce to bring the place to life as it would have been like I have seen on some documentaries. Take water.
Hayley C — Google review
Absolutely amazing place, if you like history and you are in Paphos you have to come here so many things to see that I recommend at least couple of hours preferably in the morning because of the heat and sun. Tickets are so cheap less than 5 euros and you get to see so much, from mosaics, ruins and entire amphitheater even a lighthouse to beautiful view of the coastline, definitely a must see in Paphos.
Kol2388 — Google review
This is a fascinating and extensive site. Some of the mosaics are amazing. It's well worth downloading the UNESCO app so that you can find out more as you go round. Good shoes required.
Jon C — Google review
This is an amazing place, the scale of the building remains and mosaics are incrdible. I had no idea it was so big when we paid a minimal amount to enter. The mosaic examples were preserved so well.
Emma T — Google review
A large park, no shade, bring water. Spend 2-3 hours there. You will see beautiful mosaics!
Ferenc S — Google review
Huge, beautiful park with a lot to see if you're into ruins. If you're not, you might want to skip it as it's a lot of walking and very hot!

Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
High-elevation monastery built in 1770 housing religious icons, a winery & a cafe with valley views.
Set high in the mountains with a scenic journey to the small village. The monastary is in very good condition, most rooms are open to the public including the bedroom with a brass 4 poster bed. The church is beautiful inside.
Ewan B — Google review
Pretty monastery. It's very small though, so I would not drive all the way there just for a visit. (We came from. paphos, which was a 40 minute drive. Would not recommend this)
Laura — Google review
A very well kept monastery with a beautful church a yard and a veranda with breathtaking views of the valley behind it. It is worth a visit if you are travelling in tne area and combine with other sights. The shop just outside sells local produce nuts, honey, shoushoukos etc.
Panikos K — Google review
A very old and distinctive monastery that is well looked after. Founded in 1770 by a monk ans is dedicated to Virgin Mary. I have attended and evening service which was very moving. There's a shop on the grounds of the monastery selling icons, books and their own wine from the monastery's vineyards. Also there's a courtyard at the rear of the monastery with great views. Appropriate wear is a must and if you haven't got any the monastery got some to borrow the visitors. Before you enter the monastery by the parking space there's a 130 pinus brutia tree. A great place to visit.

If you're in Paphos, Cyprus, and want to take a break from the coastal heat, it's worth visiting this monastery and exploring the surrounding area, where the temperature is more comfortable and the air is filled with delightful scents.

Small monastery in the top of the mountains. Must be very old and is dedicated to Virgin Mary. Small coffee shop just outside. No pictures allowed inside the church.

The Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery is one of the most serene and spiritually rich monastic sites in Cyprus, located near the village of Panagia in the Paphos Mountains. Founded in the 12th century by Monk Ignatios, the monastery is dedicated to Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate (Panagia Chrysoroyiatissa), a title symbolizing purity, abundance, and divine grace. According to tradition, the monk rescued a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary, said to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist, from the sea and enshrined it here. Since then, the monastery has been a place of pilgrimage and devotion, surrounded by peaceful vineyards and breathtaking mountain scenery. The monastery complex, beautifully preserved and still active today, features Byzantine architecture, a charming courtyard, and an ornate church with gilded icons and frescoes. Visitors can also explore a small museum of religious artifacts, and even taste local wine produced by the monastery, continuing a centuries-old tradition. Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery is a perfect blend of spiritual heritage, natural beauty, and Cypriot hospitality — a must-visit for those seeking peace, history, and a touch of sacred authenticity in the heart of the Paphos region.

This large rock formation off a pebbly beach is the birthplace of Aphrodite in Greek mythology.
Beautiful beach with interesting rock formations. There’s a big and free parking lot nearby. The stairs down to the beach are not too slippery and once you arrive at the beach, it’s indeed very beautiful. We were lucky because there were not too many tourist (we were there at around 10:30), so we could enjoy the place and take some photos. You can also come and stay at the beach, although it’s rather rocky, so we just came for a quick visit and admire the views.
André M — Google review
The Stone of Romeo is absolutely stunning! It’s a beautiful coastline, and pure natural beauty that leaves you in awe. It’s a very photogenic place that I’ve visited in Paphos. The only downside was the waste bin there: it was full, overflowing, and clearly not well maintained. It detracts a little from an otherwise perfect experience. Still, the scenery more than makes up for it, and hopefully the authorities clean up the bin situation so visitors can enjoy the beauty without that eyesore.
Kristina P — Google review
Nice place to set on beach and enjoy the view. Free entrance and parking. No lifeguards, seats nor umbrellas. Some people swim but the beach has many rocks.
Marco T — Google review
Beautiful and iconic place with amazing views and rich mythology. The beach is rocky but very scenic, especially around sunset. It’s worth a visit for the atmosphere and photo opportunities. However, there are no facilities nearby, and the sea can be rough for swimming. Still, a great stop if you’re exploring the area. It is free and northern need to buy and tickets

What a magical place! Just to imagine that a millenial legend was born there is priceless. Beautiful place, and the access was fun. We got there at 8:30 and it was nearly empty, coaches started arriving a couple of hours later.

A little walk down to the rock from the shop at the top where the car park is it very hot go early morning or late in the evening the beach down there is always quite empty. You could do some sunbathing. It’s very nice.

According to ancient legends, Cyprus is the birthplace of the goddess Aphrodite (the most beautiful of the goddesses). 🤵‍♀️ I managed to reach the beautiful beach🌊 of Aphrodite and admire the place where she was born from the sea foam. At least according to some mythological sources.

Kykkos Monastery is a historic complex situated on a lush mountain peak and renowned for its precious Virgin Mary icon. Founded in the 11th century, it has faced destruction from fires over the years, but the current grand structure dates back to 1831. Visitors are advised to arrive early due to increasing crowds later in the day and should dress modestly, although cover-up clothing is available. The monastery features stunning paintings and artwork, with a museum showcasing historical pieces.
A place of peace and beauty. We drove from Paphos, and the roads are challenging. The journey took about 1h 40m, but it was so worth it. The monastery has a museum that is so well presented and kept that it rivals some countries' national museums. I can not state enough just how absolutely jaw-dropping it is.

It's beautiful, but it didn't leave a big impression. It's convenient if you don't want to/can't go up, there's a golf cart that takes you almost right to the temple, and it goes back and forth all day.
Lina G — Google review
Amazing paintings and architecture. Everything inside and outside was spectacularly well preserved. Monastery lacks intimacy of other more hidden sites, but it makes it up by the scale of wealth and arts inside. There's 5 euro museum inside, we didn't go in, the "free" part was more than enough.
Adam B — Google review
The nicest Monastery I have ever seen. 5Euro entrance but I would pay 20, it is so well kept and rich. Highly recommended.

Beautiful tranquil place. Long winding mountain roads to get there but definitely worth the trip. The mosaics and artwork are beautiful. There is a restaurant and tourist shops opposite the Monastry and a small snack/drink shop at the entrance. Robes are available, as you need to be covered to enter - no bare shoulders or shorts/short skirts for women. It is free to look around. There is a museum which costs 5€ per person (free for children 12 and under) which has a host of religious artefacts and further information about the Monastry and its formation.
Jordy C — Google review
I loved this place. The mosiacs were fabulous. There are many historical artifacts in the museum, ticket entry required. We'll worth taking the time to explore. When visiting, please remember it is a holy place and should be treated with reverence and respect. If you don't, expect to be shouted at or thrown out: Ladies, cover up exposed breasts, midriff, and thighs. Guys, wear a shirt or short sleeved tee shirt and long shorts or trousers. It was embarrassing to see this happen. And remember to respect the wishes of the monastery and not take photos inside the church.

Kykkos Monastery is truly an awe-inspiring destination, a magnificent testament to Orthodox faith and a must-visit for anyone traveling to Cyprus. Nestled high in the Troodos Mountains, it offers not just spiritual solace but also breathtaking vistas that stretch across the island's rugged beauty. From the moment you begin your ascent through the winding mountain roads, the journey to Kykkos Monastery is an experience in itself. As you reach its elevated position, said to be on one of the highest peaks, the air becomes crisp and the panoramic views are nothing short of spectacular. It's a truly amazing and breathtaking setting that instantly connects you with the serene and powerful presence of nature. For anyone with an appreciation for Orthodox Christianity, Kykkos Monastery is iconic. It is one of the wealthiest and most significant monasteries in Cyprus, renowned throughout the Orthodox world. Stepping inside, you are immediately enveloped in a rich tapestry of history, art, and devotion. The monastery is famed for its incredible collection of icons, particularly the miraculous icon of Panagia Eleousa (the "All-Merciful" Mother of God), which is believed to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist himself. While the main icon is traditionally veiled out of reverence, the sheer number and intricate beauty of the other icons, frescoes, and mosaics adorning the monastery's walls and chapels are simply stunning. The gilded woodwork and vibrant religious artwork create an atmosphere of profound spirituality and artistic grandeur. Beyond the main monastery, a short drive or walk uphill leads to the "Throni of Panagia," where a large statue of the Virgin Mary stands, and the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III, Cyprus's first president, who began his ecclesiastical career here. This spot offers even more expansive views and a deeper sense of the monastery's historical and cultural significance. Kykos Monastery is more than just a religious site; it's a cultural treasure that encapsulates the heart and soul of Cyprus. The sense of peace, the historical depth, and the sheer beauty of its location make it an unforgettable experience. Whether you are a devout follower, an art enthusiast, or simply seeking a place of profound beauty and tranquility, Kykkos Monastery will leave you with a lasting impression. It is truly awesome.

Kykkos Monastery is one of the most stunning and spiritually rich landmarks in Cyprus. Nestled in the Troodos Mountains, the monastery offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with a deep sense of reverence and awe. The architecture is magnificent, blending traditional Byzantine design with intricate artistic detail. What truly stands out are the beautiful mosaics and paintings of the saints that adorn the walls and ceilings. Each image is rich in color and symbolism, telling stories of faith and devotion that span centuries. The charm and craftsmanship of these artworks are simply captivating. The monastery also houses a small but powerful museum filled with religious artifacts, ancient manuscripts, and priceless icons — including one believed to have been painted by St. Luke himself. The atmosphere is serene, and the sense of history is overwhelming. Whether you're religious or simply interested in culture and art, Kykkos Monastery is a must-visit. The drive up is scenic and peaceful, and the spiritual energy of the site leaves a lasting impression. It's a perfect place to reflect, admire, and connect with Cyprus' rich Orthodox heritage.

The Holy Church of Panagia of Asinou is a UNESCO-listed stone church located in the Troodos Mountains, just 4km southwest of Nikitari village. This ancient church is dedicated to the Virgin of Phorbiottissa and features stunning 12th-century Byzantine paintings that adorn its ornate interior.
We came here the Tuesday after Easter and the place was so packed! I gather from the reviews that this is usually a quiet place...it definitely wasn't when we went. Frescoes are amazing, especially the one of christ inside the copula before you leave. It was very busy so I couldn't take photos as I would have wished but it was still worth it. 1.5 hour drive from Limassol.

What's not to love about a 1000 year-old UNESCO heritage site tucked in the middle of the Troodos mountains. Every single interior wall is adorned with stunning frescoes, all of which still retain remarkable color depth. The drive is quite beautiful, as well.

The Holy Church of Panagia of Asinou is one of Cyprus’s most celebrated Byzantine monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located near the village of Nikitari in the Troodos Mountains. Built in the early 12th century, this small yet magnificent church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Forviotissa and is world-renowned for its exceptionally well-preserved Byzantine frescoes. The interior of the church is completely covered with vivid wall paintings that span from the 12th to the 17th centuries, illustrating scenes from the life of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and various saints. These frescoes are among the finest examples of Byzantine and post-Byzantine art in the Eastern Mediterranean, showcasing incredible color, detail, and emotional depth. Surrounded by pine forests and mountain landscapes, the church exudes an atmosphere of quiet spirituality and timeless beauty. Its simple stone architecture contrasts beautifully with the rich decoration inside, creating a deeply moving experience for every visitor. Panagia of Asinou is a masterpiece of faith and art, offering a glimpse into the spiritual and artistic soul of medieval Cyprus — a must-see for lovers of history, culture, and sacred heritage.

A beautifully-decorated ancient church, covered on every interior surface with intricate icons. "Small but perfectly-formed", as they say. Entry is theoretically free like with all South Cyprus museums/attractions, a small donation in the church box is expected. When we arrived at 09:30 in February there was no one there, but we asked the restaurant opposite, who called up the priest, and 5 minutes later an old guy turned up with the key! There are public toilets right next to the church, although they weren't very clean.

A must-see for history and art lovers, the church reflects centuries of religious devotion and Cypriot cultural heritage. Photography inside is usually not allowed.

It's such a beautiful church set in beautiful surroundings. When we arrived there, the church was closed even though it stated on Google that it was to be open. We were there in December 2022. We drove back to the village and found the priest who was more than willing to open the church. Father Kyriakos answered all our questions and guided us around all the wallpaintings in the church. Beautiful preserved and restorated. The church is a heritage site by Unesco. Well worth the visit!

The Υδροπάρκο Φασουρίου Watermania is a typical water park that offers various attractions including pools, slides and a manmade river. The park has friendly and helpful staff with lifeguards present in every attraction ensuring safety. The restaurant on the premises serves a wide variety of food which is delicious and the employees are polite. This park caters to families as there are many kid-friendly activities available as well.
Loved it! We went there with a group and had the best time. The park itself is very clean and well kept. They have many slides which are loads of fun. Eating inside the park is also not crazy expensive which we thought it would be. It was €30 per adult and parking was free. There are lockers inside you can rent however, we just left all our belongings on the chairs and they were fine. We were able to take our water bottles in as they don’t check bags when entering. If you get the pasta from the pizza/pasta spot Inside, just know you won’t get any sauce with the pasta! Pizza slices were good! Limited gluten free options and they don’t take American Express cards.
Rebecca — Google review
Very good waterpark. Food options inside are fast food like hot dogs, pizza and hamburger. They also have a few salads and wraps. Food is reasonably priced. Also lots of snack options. Recommend coming early if you want sun beds, but not really necessary since you don’t spend much time sitting anyways. They have lockers for rent inside the park. They are pretty small and a bit pricy. My only critique is that they could have done a better job separating tubes from different rides. Lots of people carried tubes from the slides into the lazy river creating a shortage of tubes. People were aggressively trying to take them from each other. The overall experience was still very good and highly recommend a visit.
Oskar S — Google review
Safety first. I don't understand the complaints from some people who leave bad reviews based on nonsense. Let's understand how much effort the staff puts into keeping customers safe, and you're complaining about cold pizza? I think the lifeguards are very well trained, and everyone who works there is very friendly and does their best. Warning signs are posted everywhere. Anyone complaining should also look at themselves and keep an eye out for potential danger. We had a wonderful day there with our family. It's a great place for children. We felt safe. I highly recommend it!
Magdalini H — Google review
To begin, using GPS you can find the park very easily. We went on a Tuesday so there was plenty of free parking in their car park. Upon entrance nobody checked our back pack for food or drinks even though we did not bring any as we planned to eat at the Park. Once entered we rented out a locker for 7.00 euros but got back 2.50 upon key return. Its best you leave your caps, sunglasses and footwear in your locker as they don't allow any of these on the big slides keeping in mind it just about fits a back pack. Its been years since I last went on rollercoasters or water slides so it was an enjoyable day for me and the Mrs. A bit tiring going up the metal stairs barefoot carrying the rubber dinghy"s but we managed. The good thing was that there wasn't that many people like the weekends. We ate at Pirates cove, burger and wedges and coke for me which the burger was dry as they had been cooked and packaged and left on the rack. Greek salad, spring rolls, water melon, slush puppie, and water for the Mrs total 40euros. After lunch we went to the Garra Fish Spa we did 12mins each for 8 euros each which was quite pleasant as it was the first time I have tried this type of treatment. The young lady supervising advised us if we come again (the same day) she would give us a 50% discount 2nd time round. After that experience we went for a Gloria jeans for coffees, a hot cappuccino and an Ice latte 9.50 cents. Place is clean with lifeguards around the park. It is a nice day out from the norm so give it a go. Overall with the discounted tickets, food, drinks, it came to about 50 euros each person.
Panayiotis J — Google review
The park could be more organized. Food is quite expensive considering the entrance fee, and the variety is limited. They could collaborate with restaurants to offer better options. There are small stands for mini donuts, crepes, and drinks, but prices are high, and with only one van open of donuts, the line was huge. Overall, it’s a fun place for families, but cleaner pools, more family tubes, and better food options would make it much better.
Thea ( — Google review
Great waterpark but overpriced. 30eur for adults. 17eur for kids. Food and drinks inside are also overpriced especially for what you get. The burger in the picture is like €7 on its own.
Gazza M — Google review
This is the most heartbreaking review I’ve had to write, honestly this place has gone downhill so much! I’ve been coming here for years but this year was just so bad! It was absolutely packed, loads of sunbeds and umbrellas were broken, the queue to get in was manic, the tubes were really limited, there was a wait to get into lazy river because you’d have to wait for tubes, also the worst thing is, the wave pool you’re no longer allowed past the 1.60 mark, which is basically pointless for adults now, definitely not going back! Tried to buy tickets on line but there isn’t an option apart from memberships.
Charlie K — Google review
A big and fun waterpark near Limassol. Although it was full when we came it was still very pleasant, and lines were very fast so it was not noticed at all. A wide variety of slides and other attractions for all ages. The food and drinks are very reasonably priced too.

Limassol Castle, located in the heart of Limassol's old town, is a medieval fortress with a rich history dating back to the crusades. The castle was rebuilt around 1590 and served as a prison until 1950. It stands as a dominant presence in the old town and offers tours for visitors interested in its historical significance. The castle also houses the Cyprus Medieval Museum, which boasts an impressive collection of antiquities spanning from 400 to 1870 A.D.

Small but interesting place, where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria and crowned her Queen of England in 1191 apparently (the only British royal wedding taking place abroad so far). The entrance fee is 4,5 euros I believe and it’s worth it. Not really for the views after climbing to the top, but mainly for the little exposition they have going on. Not wheelchair accessible. Highly recommended, you’ll spend maybe 20 minutes here.
André M — Google review
A bit less than what I would expect considering the history behind the place, the ticket cost 4.5€. You can walk around it and inside in 3/4 different levels with a bunch of stuff showing from different époques. Would recommend to go early in the day and be careful with hours, should be open from 9 to 17 but I found it close at 16:30 once. It takes 20/30 min. No wheelchair accessible.

Limassol Medieval Castle was built in the 13th century on the site of an earlier Byzantine castle. It is the town's most popular attraction because according to fame the castle stands on the site where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191. Cells in the basement were used as prison until 1950. I’ve enjoyed the visit.

Fascinating place,we visited on a Sunday when Limassol was quiet and we went to pay but where told it was free of charge that day. Spent around an hour looking at all artefacts found close by from excavation or replicas that depict things from the time. Really fascinating to see everything from weapons to coins to plates. Well worth a look if you're in Limassol old town.

The Castle and Church has an amazing history and a brilliant museum. All the artifacts are beautifully displayed. The Castle is in the old port of Limassol and is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding old town has lots of beautiful architecture with lovely restaurants.

Lemesos is a beautifully preserved castle in the heart of Old Town. The interior is a fascinating museum with interesting relics, which are well described in both English and Greek. The cost of entry is cheap and it took us about 30 minutes or so to tour the whole site.

Tickets are cheap $4.50, its in a cool area of town. Worth a stop by even for 30 mins, the castle is out of the heat and is interesting historically. I would not recommend making a day out of it, but the area is great, price cheap, and history interesting.

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Machairas Monastery, established in the 12th century, is located in a remote mountainous area and boasts picturesque panoramic views. The journey to reach this destination is breathtaking, with beautiful hills and interesting points of interest along the way. Visitors are encouraged not to miss this rare opportunity, as it offers an unforgettable experience during winter with light snow on the slopes. This peaceful location features a main room adorned with paintings and ornaments that are highly enjoyable to visit.
One of the most beautiful monasteries in Cyprus. The Monastery sits high in the hills of Cyprus (around an hour from Larnaca). Its white walls and red roofs stand out against the green hillsides, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. As you approach, you pass through a simple stone archway into a quiet courtyard, where flowers and olive trees add to the sense of calm. The cobblestone path leads you to the main church, where the famous icon of the Virgin Mary is kept. This icon, believed to have been painted by St. Luke, is beautifully decorated with silver and gold, and it draws visitors from around the world who come to pray and find peace. This monastery with its 1000 years of history, is a place of quiet reflection, offering a glimpse into Cyprus's rich spiritual heritage.

Beautiful and well maintained place with kind and helpful monks and staff. Herbs and flowers are very high quality and beautiful, not to mention that the on-site shop offers a huge variety of products, produced by monks. Oils, teas and tinctures are high quality. The church is beautifully maintained and open to the public without any fee, this is rare in Europe. Unfortunately pictures are not allowed inside the monastery but that is the magic of the place. Mountain roads are well maintained and but dangerous regardless.

I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Machairas Monastery is not just an old church in the mountains — it’s a place where something shifts inside you. As soon as I walked in, I felt like time stopped. Suddenly, I started crying — without any clear reason. No words, just silent tears. It was a deep, pure emotion I couldn’t explain. There’s a powerful stillness here. Real monks, ancient icons, and the sense that you’re touching something sacred. The small shop offers oils, herbs, candles, icons, and prayers — many of them with healing or spiritual qualities. This place stays with you. You just want to be quiet, listen, and be grateful.
Oksana O — Google review
The Monastery is a piece of heaven. The place is very calm and quiet. I did not stay too much as this is a place to pray and I did not want to disturb the monks. This is the place to stay a couple of days if possible to rebuild the connection with God.

A beautiful Orthodox monastery nestled in the mountains. Men in shorts are given a robe to cover up. Only the church (a glorious sanctuary full of reverence and splendour) and the gift shop are accessible. No photos allowed in the church area. The shop sells icons, literature, honey, jewellery, Greek literature and more.

The Holy Monastery of Panagia Machaira is one of Cyprus’s most significant and picturesque monastic sites, nestled in the lush Troodos Mountains near the village of Lazanias. Founded in the 12th century during the Byzantine period, the monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia) and takes its name from the miraculous discovery of her icon, said to have been revealed to two hermits by divine guidance and freed from a cave by a “machaira” (knife) — hence the name Machaira. What distinguishes this monastery is its sacred icon of the Virgin Mary Machairiotissa, attributed to Saint Luke the Evangelist, which has been venerated for centuries as a source of blessings and protection. The monastery has long served as a spiritual refuge and cultural stronghold, playing an important role in the island’s religious and national history. Architecturally, Panagia Machaira blends Byzantine and monastic simplicity, featuring stone walls, wooden balconies, and a peaceful courtyard surrounded by forested slopes. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes, gilded iconostasis, and monastic treasures, all reflecting the deep devotion and artistic craftsmanship of Cyprus’s Orthodox tradition. Today, the Holy Monastery of Panagia Machaira remains an active religious center, home to a small community of monks who preserve its centuries-old traditions. Its serene setting, rich heritage, and enduring spirituality make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the sacred heart of Cyprus.

It’s a beautiful Orthodox monastery tucked away in the mountains. If you’re a guy wearing shorts, they’ll give you a robe to cover up. You can only go into the church — which is stunning and full of reverence — and the gift shop. No photos are allowed inside the church. The shop has icons, books, honey, jewelry, Greek literature, and a bunch of other interesting things.

It was a lovely 1 hour drive from Nicosia. The drive through the winding, twisty road through the Machairas Mountains was breath taking. Its Spring time & all the terraced fields were shades of green. The almond trees were starting to burst in to flower. The air was crisp & fresh. We arrived at the Monastery just before the start of Orthodox Lent. The monks were preparing the Church and grounds. You can feel the sacredness of this place. Full of peace, calm, beauty & sanctity.

St. Hilarion Castle

Sights & Landmarks
Perched on the rocky cliffs 660 meters above the sea, St. Hilarion Castle in Kyrenia, North Cyprus is a popular historical site. Built by the Byzantines in the 8th century and later expanded with a monastery and church, it offers breathtaking views of the northern coastline from its hilltop location. The castle's strategic position allowed for surveillance and defense against potential threats.
Be aware of the closing times especially in the winter. The climb is not easy, so wear good shoes. If you make it to the top the view is breathtaking. There’s so much history here. The parking lot is small, so good luck. The cafe is nice, and during the summer they have a cafe in the castle. The road up the mountain passes through a military base, so Don’t stop and take pictures!

I've been once before as a teen and brought my partner with me this time. We enjoyed it very much! The walk up is very long and tiring, definitely take a breather now and then when climbing up the stairs to get to the peak. Beautiful views and well preserved. Only downside is that the Turkish Army closed it down early the day we went for something so we did rush a little.
Fib H — Google review
Beautiful place. Shame that people don’t respect the no smoking and no littering signs. Also be wary of cafe .. asked for a Turkish coffee as had just seen them make one .. only to be told no.. only coffee available is from the espresso machine at €3 a cup. On leaving saw more customers having Turkish coffee.. definitely feel like it was a ‘tourist tax’ .. ..so be warned 😡

We got in just nefore 3pm and we're told to get down to the ticket office by 4pm. Tho on the outside signboard it says last entray 4.30pm That's apparently not the case today. This seems to do with it being part of the military base So changes to opening time can occur at anytime without notice. The view was really pretty we first went to john's church/chapel then we went to the peak 734m above sea level. The walk up there was not hard. I'd rate it medium difficulty tops. The road is a bit uneven and can be slippery after rains So make sure you wear proper shoes for that. We got to the top around 3.35 So 30-35min is enough for a person who is moderately fit to get up and we got down just before 4pm. Made a few other stops to see the beautiful queens' window too. We didn't visit the cistern next to the beautiful Windows unfortunately as we ran out of time. I think 1.5-2hrs is probably good for here. 1hr is a bit short. There doesn't seem to be public transport here whatsoever. We got a taxi up there and when to the monastery then back to town for 70euros...

Lots of people have wondered how accessible it is for older, less abled folks to access the castle. I visited yesterday & I am 71. Yes I am very fit for my age but for such an awesome setting do NOT let other misleading reviews stop you going. The castle is easily accessed from the car park where a little cafe is located. It's currently,50 tl entrance (just over a £1) & even just inside there is the most incredible view of Kyrenia. The steps for levels 1 & 2 are perfectly adequate & not very tough (see pictures) if you do not venture inside the first lookout towers which are more of a challenge. The are some awesome things to see within the first two levels like the Byzantine Church. There is also a super little cafe with an amazing view of the north coast at Kyrenia, selling their refreshing lemonade (& mocktails) & a small selection of small gifts & postcards. Now there is the third level to explore & I spent 90 mins on that level it's astounding! Again see pictures of steps & now I would say you have to be reasonably fit or very determined if a slow ascent is within your capabilities. There are astounding parts like the royal apartments with amazing views but the higher up you go the more arduous it gets until the pinnacle of the summit at 732m. some 333' higher than the car park. Steps are a lot more uneven but with care & a firm grip of the handrails it's achievable. Various pictures illustrate some of my descriptions. Some reviews talk about unstable poor handrails, this is not the case they were all solid & firm & reassuring. Some people describe litter plastic bottles etc. Well the castle has provided loads of do not litter, pop in a bin signs but there will always be the mindless uncaring idiots who ignore this, don't let it distract you off visiting. It's an awesome feat of human achievement to the highest level & it has been there a 1000 years. The road 3 miles from the dual carriageway can be accessed from the dual carriageway in either direction despite what Google maps might show (I came from Kyrenia & turned right) & the road shows a few hairpin bends, again don't let this put you off, they are wide & easily driven. What more can I say except done let a visit pass you by if you are anywhere near. Allow 4 hours if you want to visit & photograph every nook & cranny! Hope the photos help you make the right decision, Go Go Go, it's awesome!

Well worth visiting, magnificent views, but you need to be reasonably fit to make the climb. You need good balance. Not for children under 12 yrs of age.

Worth a visit. Entrance cheap 1 eur. Takes 2 hours at least to see all, so don't expect to see and go quickly. Enjoy and feel. Lot of hiking - which is good, but even old people made it..

Beautiful. The hike to the top might be challenging for some people but well worth it for the fantastic views. Wear shoes with good grip. Probably our favourite spot on Cyprus.

Kyrenia Harbour is the most popular spot in the town for tourists. It's a crescent-shaped port with narrow streets and charming old wooden ships and yachts in its harbour. There are also cafes and restaurants on the waterfront, and a beautiful promenade that leads down to the harbour.
It has become much better here, because repairs have recently been made, the areas where cafes and restaurants are located have been expanded, and it is convenient to walk here. There are yachts and boats all around. You can book a yacht or pleasure boat tour, with lunch or dinner. There is information that in the recent past, filming of one of the episodes of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" took place here, where the picturesque place of the marina. There is also a very large, powerful and beautiful fortress here. Which was built in very ancient times.
Azar — Google review
A small port, not very spectacular. A mix of small boats, pleasure and fishing. On the shore several restaurants with terraces. Not very crowded, around 2:00 PM. The area looks decent, seems recently renovated. In the immediate vicinity is the castle, in a rather bad condition.

The harbour is beautiful. You can walk all the way round the harbour and past the castle. There are some lovely shops, bars and restaurants, we found a great rooftop bar for cocktails and beers with views over the harbour. Definitely spend half a day wandering round and exploring the side streets that lead off the harbour. On our previous visit we took a boat trip along the coast which is also beautiful.

This is a great place to visit, especially at sunset. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes because of the stones, and steps. It’s easy to be there 2 hours or more. They have a small cafe in the courtyard, a gift shop and a museum. The WC costs 10TL. The entry fee is 50TL.

Girne Castle is undoubtedly a beautiful and fascinating place. Its history, architecture, and the view of the harbor are all truly impressive. Walking through its ancient halls and standing on its walls overlooking the sea made me feel like I was touching the layers of history that have shaped our island. But as a Greek-Cypriot, visiting this castle also stirred deep emotions. I couldn’t help but feel like a stranger in my own homeland—a feeling that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. There’s a quiet sadness that comes from knowing how divided we are, despite sharing the same island, the same sun, and the same humanity. One day, I truly hope to see a Cyprus where people from both sides treat each other with more kindness, respect, and understanding.

Nice place to visit and spend time in many restaurants and cafe shops, some a bit overpriced or have small portion but there are few good ones. ever since the area were renovated it's get nicer and have good atmosphere. On weekends and holidays it's get crowded.

Amazing view from the castle! This is the biggest castle that I visited in Cyprus. This is the must go place if you want to see a beautiful port, sea and mountain.
Juno — Google review
This fortress was much bigger than what I expected. It definitely worth to visit if you are in Girne. It was a bit dirty with empty cans and water bottles everywhere. I hope the staff (and visitors) pay a bit more attention to keep it clean.
Yusif — Google review
Great big castle to visit. Tickets can be brought at the entrance. Hot weather can make it hard to go around, but definitely recommend going to the top of the castle for amazing views. Little cafe at the middle of the castle serving food, coffee and cold drinks, unfortunately my food arrived 20 minutes after my partners and you have to pay extra to use the toilets in the castle which I found odd as you use the cafe an pay entrance fee to the castle. Make sure to check out the Ancient Shipwreck Museum, housed within Kyrenia Castle. Not much maintenance in the castle as it’s common to see cigarette butts or rubbish on the floor.
Gizem Y — Google review
The most impressive castle in Cyprus, although even that is not very well preserved. It houses a small archaeological museum dedicated to a small, very old wreck. Otherwise, nothing remarkable. All you can do is walk along the dilapidated walls and admire the panorama, which is quite beautiful. In the inner courtyard there is also a small kiosk with a terrace, where you can have a drink.

The Neolithic Settlement of Choirokoitia is a remarkable UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site that offers a glimpse into the Neolithic period in Cyprus. The well-preserved settlement features reconstructed huts and provides historical insights into the ancient culture of the area. Visitors can explore five reconstructed dwellings, gaining an understanding of how people lived during that time. The site is well-maintained and informative, with boards providing details about construction methods and daily life in the village.
Interesting antiquity UNESCO site. Although the park is accessible, there are many uphill (concrete) paths. Many of the interesting parts of the park entail steep paths so for those in good shape who enjoy hiking.

Great site with well thought out displays of the Neolithic settlement. It's amazing and mind boggling just thinking that people were living here 9000 years ago

Incredible to see what we may have read about. Considering how old the round are, amazing there are some remains visible today. The reconstruction shows what may have existed which is a great visual. You might spend around an hour here max. €2.50 entry. Free parking. Just be mindful google maps will try to take you further up the hill. When you see the coffee shop/carpark this is the entry.

The ruins of a former monastery. They still house a small church. All in all, nothing "wow"... The area is beautiful, clean, full of greenery and flowers. In addition, from the monastery courtyard you have a very beautiful panorama, with the sea and Kyrenia visible in the distance. There is also a restaurant, adjacent to the monastery.

Bit different from the normal ruins. The restaurant, bar and cafe is attached to the abbey so I felt a bit strange but it's a popular place for locals because of that. Therefore there is shuttle bus service, 30 TL for a single ticket, very easy access and a nice view. There are nice hotels and restaurants. You can take a bus from a big parking space. There's some signboards there.

Larnaca Salt Lake fills with water during the winter and dries up in the summer to reveal a salt crust. This natural cycle attracts large flocks of migratory birds. Thousands of flamingos arrive from November to feed on the shrimp that thrive in the salt water.

The Holy Church of Saint Lazarus is a restored 9th-century Byzantine stone church located in the center of Larnaca. It houses a remarkable gold-plated iconostasis and is dedicated to Lazarus of Bethany, who, according to legend, lived in Larnaca for 30 years and was its first bishop after being resurrected by Jesus.
Many have already written the historical,  religious and architectural significances of this small but magnificent church. I stayed longer than I expected because I invited myself to a beautiful wedding. During the wedding service, the church still let people in for the visit to the tomb of Saint Lazarus. I suppose it always happens. If a wedding happens to take place during your visit, don't leave. It's such a sweet experience.

From an architectural standpoint it’s a very pretty building and the interior is spectacular. I didn’t take any photos as I didn’t know if it was appropriate or not as it is an active church. But the paintings and reliefs inside are quite unique. And the building itself has a great history that’s interesting to learn about as someone who’s not tied to the Christian faith. The surrounding neighborhood is very quaint and has many good shops and restaurants/cafes.
Sam F — Google review
This is amazing Church is a must visit if you are in the area. Beautiful structural architecture on the outside and inside to the amazing things you will see when you enter. If you can try and be covered up because there is a sign outside saying no shorts for men and women should ideally have their hair and shoulders covered but they do have robes for free on the outside to cover just in case you forget. Situated in the church are the most amazing icon pictures all over and the whole church is almost covered in gold. It is a particularly busy church with tourists in and out at all times. When you enter there is a lower two level where Lazarus bones used to be kept before they were moved, but his tomb still remains.

Hearing about this church and seeing some of the photos doesn’t really prepare you for the experience and history you are about to feel walking up to and inside this master of a monument. The outside is stunning, well preserved and sits on a lovely open space. When you enter it is very typical of a Greek church and lovely. Make sure you visit the tombs also under the church.

Saint Barnabas Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
A 1700s complex with a museum of icons, archaeological finds & the tomb of Cyprus’s patron saint.
Our first stop exploring the region of many historical antiquities that should be seen if you're in Northern Cyprus. Our first stop was visiting the tiny chapel over the tomb of St. Barnabas. Upstairs seemed to be in disrepair for obvious reasons, but as I descended it down the steps to the tomb area, it got my hair standing on end being in this holy place. My wife and I said our prayers and left to explore the monastery and museum. The chapel area of the monastery is full of icons from over the many years. It's old, but seemed well preserved. There was a nominal fee to get inside as well as a small Cafe and gift shop. The museum is full of really impressive collection of ancient antiquities that some date to 1000 BC. Kind of mind-blowing for us. Definitely one of the most intriguing stops of our day!

Although it unequivocally merits further restoration and management, this monastery, or rather, museum, as is the current state of it, is a notable piece of Greek Cypriot history and national identity. It is commendable that efforts are underway to make sure it remains reputable. If you're visiting, make sure not only to visit the main building of the monastery, but also to explore the gallery behind it. The gallery can be entered through the back courtyard, and it holds a sizable collection of archeological artifacts well worth observing.

It's a very interesting church. I recommend it. Also don't forget to visit the small Christian shrine next to 100 Mt.

Close to Salamis road and hotel. Nice ancient church with several museums containing nice old paitings and old pottery and statues. We went there at 4pm and there was nobody else in the area. Tickets were 50 TL per person.

Amazing little church with such a story to tell. In addition to the church, there is a museum of artifacts found in the surrounding area . There is a charming little refreshment place that offered fresh squeezed juice, water and ice cream. Also , a separate tomb that houses the body of St Barnabas. Outside was a small market ( 3 tables) that were selling locally made souvenirs. Very much worth a visit.

Nice museum with a lot of a artifacts . It's a combination of a place of worship and a handwork exhibition. + A lot of to see (I could spend easily 45 minutes there, it's worth the money) + You can see a lot of handworks and paintings + The building has his own ambience + Well maintained facility - Toilet cost extra

Again, this was one of the many stops on our one-day sightseeing tour from Larnaca. This place is interesting. I don't know how much the entrance fee is as we had entry as part of a sightseeing day where we visited more places in Cyprus, but it was a nice and pleasant stop.

Water & Amusement Parks
WaterWorld Themed Waterpark in Ayia Napa is a large water park with an Ancient Greece theme, offering 35 mythology-themed rides and attractions for families to enjoy. From the hair-raising Fall of Icarus to the Danaides Childrens Playground, there's something for everyone.
Absolutely amazing place my kids loved it! Suitable from 0-100 age, splash parks for toddlers and younger children, even rides! Not expensive to eat there at all, a fresh sorbet / icecream is only 2 euros! Fresh hot donuts with unlimited toppings. Great offer at the moment 2 days for the price of 1! We hired a cabana for 50euros which was directly infront of the kids pool, and great for keeping them out of the sun!

Great water Park, small enough to get around to all the slides and attractions. Clean, good selection of food and drinks. We hired the Cabana for an extra 50 euros which was well worth it, loads of beds available around the park though. Lockers available at the entrance and photos taken throughout the day which you can purchase at the end. There is a carpark, bus stop and taxi rank just outside the park. We had a fab day.
Danielle A — Google review
Some really good water rides with different levels for all ages. A large pool area with a wave machine. The park is in need of updating in my view but would still visit again. Our ticket (bought on line) enabled us to visit twice so we felt was value for money.
David G — Google review
Great day out for the family. Water based fun for all ages from great areas for small children and toddlers and a good variety of slides and rides for adults, including some really high fast drops. Went midweek in May and pretty much no wait on any of the rides. It has a wave machine in the main pool and a few other smaller pools dotted around the park. There are lots of options for food and refreshments, not too expensive. Recommend getting a Cabana, which comes with its little safe box. Its not cheap, I think it was €50 but is great for kids especially to have a lie down or snooze during the day. 4 stars as its a bit on the pricey side even with the discounted junior (2 - 12) tickets €28 and kids under 2 having free entrance.

Visited on a weekday as a group of four adults. Staff are an absolute asset to the venue they were all exceptionally friendly, on the ball and consistently acting in an assurance of safety. The rides themselves were diverse, exciting and for us there were next to no queues. MC Mike who ran the "games" i.e. spin the wheel etc was a joy and made for great entertainment. Food and drink was fairly priced. I cannot fault our experience we had the absolute best time and spent the whole day here without getting bored. My only feedback would be that some areas need a repaint just to freshen it up. I don't think you'll disappointed though. In addition they have refigerated storage for your packed lunch if you wish to take this you can then get a pass to leave and eat outside of the venue on designated picnic area. We thought this was a amazing touch and wish that more venues offer refrigeration/picnic.

Worth it for a day of fun, but some things can be improved. Positive is the multitude of lifeguards who give you the necessary safety for your children and the entire staff from the entrance to the terraces and restaurants. Affordable prices and the fact that you can find something for all tastes. Maybe some new sun loungers and more non-slip mats on the floor.
Dafinca D — Google review
Great fun for a reasonable price. All rides were fun and it was not crowded. Lots of entertaining activities for the kids. Very clean and well staffed with decent restaurants.

Beautiful beach, we managed to get sunbeds later on in the day. Lots of cafes to choose from all very well priced. Sunloungers are 2.50, parasols also 2.50. The sea is perfect for children as it’s shallow for quite a long way out.

Just wow, beautiful, warm seas, blue skies awesome went back a few times, need to get your place early, sunloungers €2.50 each and brolly the same, cost €15 for dayx food and refreshments day for us was €100 beach we named it superb so relaxing, suncream required x

Makronissos beach… what a lovely place to be in the winter! If you planed to go to the beach in the summer, make sure you do the following: - set your alarm at 6:00am; - get to the beach and be the 20th person first to get a sunbed; - again, if you’re lucky, you’ll manage to get a couple of holiday pictures with the seaweed crystal clear seashore and blue turquoise water. The are 2 beaches whilst visiting Makronissos beach. The 1st and the main one is on the left or as soon as you park the car, you’ll see it as you have to walk towards the sea. The 2nd one is on the right hand side. Same old story, park the car, get to the sea, keep to your right and you will see the other side of the beach; not so good looking as the main one - but it comes with less sunbeds and quieter ambiance.
Mike T — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful beach — clean, well-organized, and easy to access. 🌴 Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for only €2.50 each, and there are showers, changing rooms, a café, parking, and a lifeguard on duty. The water color is stunning! 🏝️ Maybe it’s just the beginning of November, but it felt wonderfully calm and uncrowded — a perfect spot to relax.

Very nice looking sandy beach. Water is clear. There is sunbeds and also parts without it. It has restaurants and bars. Amazing.
Aleksandra N — Google review
by far the best beach in the ayia napa area, so much better than overrated nissi. the water is crystal clear, the sand is clean and soft and the beach is set in a beautiful place. when you rent sunbed and umbrella it is for a whole day! absolutely loved it!!😍
Szymon K — Google review
Excellent beach with fine sand. The beach is big, and unlike Nissi beach, you can find a free sunbed here if you come a little later. At the entrance to the beach, there is a coffee shop, a restaurant and a shower.

Nissi Beach is a renowned destination in Cyprus, known for its golden sands and clear aquamarine waters. It has been awarded the blue flag designation for its cleanliness. Located near Ayia Napa, it is easily accessible by public transport and offers a range of activities including swimming, water sports, shopping, and dining. The 600-meter coastline attracts large crowds with beach parties and music.
This beach was one of the best on the island at the same time we were there there were viral videos and photos about algae but we were after the water sports section on the rockier part of the beach ant the water was amazing and very clear. There was a lot of people there understandably so we recommend to go there at 9 am at the latest

Nice beach, 2 sunbeds and an umbrella 7.5€ which is very acceptable. Coffee and water around 7€, there are couple of stores nearby on the main road with acceptable prices, beer 1.8€, snacks 1.4€. Must visit if in Cyprus
Zoran T — Google review
Was here off season - April Enjoyed my time so much No crowds Water crystal clear Sunbed prices are regulated 2.5e per bed just like on the rest of the island there is no overprice for being the most popular beach I see how it can be an issue in season due to crowds but you just have to pick your time to enjoy
Filip — Google review
Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice beach and has a beautiful sea but it surrounded by hotels and packed. If you are a person who likes calm beaches without people, avoid this one or avoid Ayia Napa alltogether. It is crowded even in mid October.
Klára P — Google review
Very nice beach, in the begining of November, not too busy, can get sun beds pretty easy (2.5 eur per bed) and parking is 4 eur full day. Beach bar works and have pretty good food, slightly more expensive than everywhere else.
Alex J — Google review
Wonderful beach! The water is crystal clear and the weather was perfect, not windy at all. We visited in mid October and it was still quite busy, so I can only imagine how crowded it gets during the peak summer months. Definitely a must visit spot! Don’t miss out on having a piña colada served in a pineapple.
Vanda Z — Google review
Beautiful local beach. Cristal clear water, sandy beach, restaurants and beach bars are available. Sunbeds are 2.5e as in while Cyprus. There is volleyball court on the beach.
Aleksandra N — Google review
One of the best beaches in Europe. Beautiful sand and water. Plenty of bars. Reachable by bus and 5 min walk. Easy spend a day here. One of the best places in Cyprus. Always a winner. Never disappoints. Must see. Work a trip even if on other side of island or Pahpos.

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
The Monastery of Ayia Napa, originally constructed in 1500 CE, has been transformed into a museum and garden. This historic landmark is a significant religious and architectural site in Cyprus, with a captivating legend about the discovery of an icon of the Virgin Mary. The monastery's Venetian-era architecture adds to its centuries-old charm. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Aiya Napa beach, known for sunbathing, water sports, and shopping.
People there were so kind, specially the priest Vasilis. He read for us a prayer and then he spoke to us, consulted us and we felt like he knew us, like the God talk to us through him!

The beautiful monastery, unfortunately, only the chapel can be partially visited, the other buildings are closed to tourists. In the chapel you can pray and light a candle "for a known intention"

We walked down from the hill toward the Ayia Napa Monastery, and on the way we passed a beautiful new-looking church with a round dome on the right. Just before reaching the monastery entrance, there’s a huge fig tree also on the right. The figs were small and the leaves looked quite different from the usual fig trees, I wish we could learn more about the story and the variety of the tree. A peaceful and enriching place, both culturally and spiritually. Definitely worth a visit! I also stopped by the gift shop, where the staff was very friendly and welcoming. He introduced me to a unique type of incense made from the dragon’s blood tree, the ones found on the island of Sokotra, Yemen. He explained how it's been collected from the tree, and burned over charcoal. The smell is fascinating for me.
NANA D — Google review
A peaceful oasis in the lively heart of Ayia Napa. The monastery is beautifully preserved and offers a wonderful sense of calm amid the energy of the town. The stone architecture, old sycamore tree, and shaded courtyards create a serene, almost timeless atmosphere. You can feel both history and spirituality here — it’s easy to imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. Whether you visit for a few quiet minutes, to take photos, or simply to reflect, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

There was an open air concert lasting a few days. Really great fun with lots of local market stalls. Some even have away some bits and tastes for free. Glad made the effort to walk up there

Beautiful. Not busy… open until late. Good energy.

I have very fond memories visiting the monastery as a child and I'm was a bit disappointing to see that it was closed for renovations and after 3 years is still not open. The monastery is built on the old foundations of another small Byzantine church dedicated to Virgin Mary, and it was built in the middle of the village. When it was built in 1500 AD it was in a form of a Medieval castle. Outside the church is the famous ficus sycamore tree which is over 600 years old. November 2025 Returned to this lovely monastery and i'm was impressed how well they have restored it. Now it has a small museum with some old icons that gives you the history of the monastery, and who was Ayia Napa. Very interesting to watch the short films that they have provided. The museum is free to visit but their shop was closed.
