Hala Sultan Tekke is a significant Muslim pilgrimage site located on the western shore of Larnaca Salt Lake. This historic landmark is surrounded by a beautiful garden and holds religious importance as it is believed to be the burial place of Umm Haram, Prophet Mohammed's foster mother. The city of Larnaca offers a blend of historical and cultural attractions, including ancient ruins, churches, and festivals like Kataklysmos.
Very beautiful, quiet and mysterious place with old legend about Holy woman who was a relative of Muhammad accidentally dead this area. There is the Tomb of her behind the Mosque. We are absolutely alone, only one person was in the entrance. The entrance is free.

Very nice mosque, I think it has been forgotten by the state, isn’t as clean and good looking as it was once upon a time. I hope it changes, but from a historic perspective it was very nice to see that it is still an active worship place. I feel like they should clean the name board of the mosque, it was full of dust…
Khan — Google review
It's nothing you haven't seen before, but it's worth the time, we couldn't go in due to our belief, but the gardens were really nice and well-maintained. I would also recommend walking along the salt lake path in summer and in winter...overall, not a bad experience, but nothing crazy.
Liav M — Google review
Placed by salt lake, good time to sit on the bench and relax for the while. If flamingo 🦩 season -> extra special. If want to visit mosque than good dress is mandatory 😉
Miroslav J — Google review
It is slightly off the beaten track but is still worth the effort to visit as it is a very nice mosque indeed. Perhaps it isn't as clean as it may have been in the past but still it was OK. Our only mistake was that my wife was not dressed properly and was refused entry. and so many stray cats around .... not pleasant.
Norm P — Google review
Beautiful setting by the edge of the Salt Lake. Peaceful and scenic place, especially around sunset. Remember: ladies must wear full-length pants covered clothing to enter — no entry otherwise.
Parul A — Google review
The Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, which is very beautiful, is located near the salt lake. It is essential to wear an appropriate long dress; otherwise, entry will not be permitted.
G V — Google review
This mosque has been described as the third holiest place for Muslims in the world (some say the fourth, after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem). During the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman-flagged ships would hang their flags at half mast when off the shores of Larnaca, and salute Hala Sultan with cannon shots. The mosque was built over the grave of Umm Haram, who was believed to be the sister of the Prophet Mohammed’s foster mother.

Churches & Cathedrals
The Holy Church of Saint Lazarus is a restored 9th-century Byzantine stone church located in the center of Larnaca. It houses a remarkable gold-plated iconostasis and is dedicated to Lazarus of Bethany, who, according to legend, lived in Larnaca for 30 years and was its first bishop after being resurrected by Jesus.
Many have already written the historical,  religious and architectural significances of this small but magnificent church. I stayed longer than I expected because I invited myself to a beautiful wedding. During the wedding service, the church still let people in for the visit to the tomb of Saint Lazarus. I suppose it always happens. If a wedding happens to take place during your visit, don't leave. It's such a sweet experience.
Joyce . — Google review
From an architectural standpoint it’s a very pretty building and the interior is spectacular. I didn’t take any photos as I didn’t know if it was appropriate or not as it is an active church. But the paintings and reliefs inside are quite unique. And the building itself has a great history that’s interesting to learn about as someone who’s not tied to the Christian faith. The surrounding neighborhood is very quaint and has many good shops and restaurants/cafes.
Sam F — Google review
This is amazing Church is a must visit if you are in the area. Beautiful structural architecture on the outside and inside to the amazing things you will see when you enter. If you can try and be covered up because there is a sign outside saying no shorts for men and women should ideally have their hair and shoulders covered but they do have robes for free on the outside to cover just in case you forget. Situated in the church are the most amazing icon pictures all over and the whole church is almost covered in gold. It is a particularly busy church with tourists in and out at all times. When you enter there is a lower two level where Lazarus bones used to be kept before they were moved, but his tomb still remains.
Toby H — Google review
Hearing about this church and seeing some of the photos doesn’t really prepare you for the experience and history you are about to feel walking up to and inside this master of a monument. The outside is stunning, well preserved and sits on a lovely open space. When you enter it is very typical of a Greek church and lovely. Make sure you visit the tombs also under the church.

Travelled.fr9m.thw UK.for my friends wedding in this church. For me it will always be a place of great joy. It's a beautiful place to visit if you are in the area, just don't walk through the middle isle in yer t-shirts and flip flops when there are 250 of us in the .middle of a wedding ceremony lo

Beautiful church, very peaceful! We went there around at 1400 and it was closed. Advise to check the opening hours before you go. It opens in afternoon at 1530 but if you are there early, there are few souvenir shops that you can visit, enjoy lunch, take photographs, enough things to keep you occupied.

Visiting the Holy Church of Saint Lazarus was an unforgettable experience. I was deeply touched by the atmosphere and the spiritual energy of this sacred place. Bowing before the relics of Saint Lazarus filled me with peace and gratitude.

Nice beach for young children and families to relax and swim. Plenty of cafes and restaurants opposite the sea. Nice little promenade

Good beach for kids, nice sand and shallow water. Toilet is free, but shower cost 50cents. Almost no disturbance from people trying to sell you something.
Mihajlovic ( — Google review
Very good - this is a really safe beach for kids, with nice sand and fairly shallow water. The toilet is free (hurray) but the shower cost is about 50c. It can get quite crowded but the there is little hassle from people trying to sell you something. It can get really hot - so take or hire shade.

It's a wonderful beach. The location is perfect. There are restaurants, places to stay, and an amusement park nearby. It's a great beach for a family vacation.

No sand, only soil. Very dirty beach, not suitable for swimming or relaxing. Sunbeds are broken and in some places there are no umbrellas.

The Kamares Aqueduct, also known as the Bekir Pasha Aqueduct, is a historic water bridge with 75 arches that was constructed in 1750 and remained operational until 1939. It serves as one of the most prominent water supplies ever built in Cyprus. The site is not only a marvel of engineering but also holds cultural and historical significance, being associated with the worship of Goddesses Artemis-Diana and Aphrodite-Astarte.
Reminds me of the aqueduct in Scotland. But with way, way hotter climate. End of September , still scorching hot. I was able to take nice videos and pictures, there was not anyone during mid day. Everyone must be at the beach. I went on a Monday.
Daynie A — Google review
Amazing seeing this in the landscape. Can ze been from far. Its still in good condition. Its close to the main road. Good for a short break.
Frank — Google review
A great end point if you are walking along the salt flat trail. The 18th century aquaduct is in great condition and is another part of Cyprus' long history with water movement and storage. 10min is enough time for a casual observer to take in enough of the structure. The wetlands directly behind it are home to many birds and the calls make a nice backdrop.
Jonathan Z — Google review
Surrounded by the modern city, it seems surreal in a way. It's an impressive structure and it's in good condition. Parking is available nearby and there are also hiking trails.
Phil M — Google review
Super cool piece of history. Looks a lot more grand in person. There's a small walkway that takes you through the base of the aqueduct though not fully constructed or maintained.
Hypo — Google review
Not worth a detour, what you see when driving by is everything there is to see. Looks nice though.
Thaina S — Google review
We cycled along the salt lake… up to the aqueduct… wanted to sit nearby but no benches sadly.. Worth seeing if interested in history ….
KJ — Google review
The Kamares Aqueduct in Larnaca was built between 1747 and 1750 by the Ottoman Governor Bekir Pasha to provide the city with a reliable water supply. This impressive engineering feat, which cost approximately 50,000 qirsh, was funded by Pasha himself as a public project. It draws water from the Tremithos River and other springs, channeling it to the city through a 16 km long system that includes a 75-arch bridge, a part of which is still visible today.

Larnaca Salt Lake is a stunning natural feature that captivates visitors with its unique ecosystem, home to an array of water birds, including the elegant flamingos. This picturesque site is not only a haven for birdwatchers but also holds cultural significance, featuring the revered Hala Sultan Tekke shrine nearby. Travelers can enhance their experience in Larnaca by exploring various attractions such as the Archaeological Museum and Larnaka Medieval Fort while enjoying beach activities along the beautiful coastline.
At the beginning of November there weren’t flamingos and water, although the view during sunset is magnificent. I recommend visit if you are nearby.
Галин Г — Google review
Went in April, no Flamingo. Learned from the local that they only come to salt lake between Nov and Mar. If you go in other months, the lake view is still enjoyable, just no need to feel disappointed or not seeing any bird.
Ang S — Google review
Beautiful lake, flamingos can be seen only in the cold season. Visited in November and the water looked like a mirror, with lots of flamingos. Definitely worth visiting. Do not walk off the path, it'll startle the birds. There are 2 observation decks at the lake. You can get there with public transport.
Aleksandra Ł — Google review
It's very nice to visit although flamingos weren't there🥹
Драганић С — Google review
Larnaca Salt Lake fills with water during the winter and dries up in the summer to reveal a salt crust. This natural cycle attracts large flocks of migratory birds. Thousands of flamingos arrive from November to feed on the shrimp that thrive in the salt water.
Vivienne T — Google review
Pink flamingos 🦩 visit the lake in winter. When I visited in mid November there were 2 big groups. Should bring a good camera to get a good picture. However you can walk around and enjoy the views. Various parking around the lake.
Paul H — Google review
I visited it in November, and there were no birds, no water. Just a mud and salt. Large area covered by mud and salt. The guide said in winter there will be a lot of flamingo and water. It is located near Hala Sultan mosque.
David Z — Google review
Nice place for a walk alongside the salt lake, where you can watch the flamingos and other water birds. Great view of the Hala Sultan Tekkesi - this place has a ridiculous number of cute cats, it must be their sanctuary. There is several benches throughout the path, ideal to contemplate those magnificent birds.

Absolutely beautiful place to drink and eat. On the bottom is an amazing bar, on top a restaurant. The walls are filled with artwork, the food is amazing and the staff is just lovely. If you like art, good music and food come here.

Nicely decorated restaurant. Ground floor has the bar and you need to go to first floor for the restaurant. Every staffs were kind from the moment I entered till I have my seat. I am no expert in Cyprus food but flavour profile (to me) might be a bit monochrome but looked super authentic so still worth a visit for sure. Overall I had a good time !

A fantastic family owned restaurant with an amazing craft beer and well stocked wine bar underneath. Beautiful arrangement of artwork in the restaurant upstairs. Five star service which is reflected throughout your dining experience. We are trying to learn Greek and everyone is so helpful and patient in our attempts to speak the language. Traditional home cooked food with a daily special as well. Excellent value for money and excellent quality local ingredients used. A must do when visiting Larnaca - you won’t be disappointed.

Officially one of the most beautiful restaurants and bars I have ever been to. The bar downstairs is inspiring with the unique vibes and hundreds of beers and whiskeys. The second flood is just an amazing restaurant. The food super delicious, we tried the cooked lamb with spinach, rice and potatoes. wine is great and the atmosphere is difficult to explain with words it could only be felt. Every detail is just fantastic, I am so happy the place was open and we could enjoy the art there.

To Kazani, situated in the village of Aradippou in Larnaca, is a charming traditional tavern that exudes warmth and coziness with its distinctive decor featuring checkered tablecloths, plants, and folk ornaments. This eatery is renowned for serving up delicious and high-quality Cypriot dishes that are not only flavorful but also beautifully presented with generous portions. It's a go-to spot for experiencing some of the best Meze offerings in Cyprus.
Excellent restaurant with authentic homemade food and warm hospitality This restaurant truly impressed us in every way. The food is authentic and homemade, full of rich, well-balanced flavors. We had a mix of meze, which was absolutely delicious – every dish was carefully prepared and full of character. A special mention goes to the pickled caper shoots, which were a real highlight. The lamb chops were perfectly grilled – tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly and professional, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. At the end of the meal, we were treated to fresh watermelon and a homemade cake – a thoughtful gesture that really stood out. You truly get great value for money here. After a meal like this, you leave happy and already thinking about coming back.

It is a wonderful taverna, the food quality is excellent! You can’t compare it to the food you find in the taverns from the touristic areas. The staff is very kind and friendly. The location is also very nice, a refurbished old house, you can find a lot of old furniture and objects. We will definitely come back!

The best taverna in the Larnaca area. Modeste & his sons were the perfect hosts and looked after us like their family! The taverna has been renovated and looked amazing - it was like stepping back into the 1950s! The atmosphere was very relaxing & very busy even on a Monday evening- bookings are required!! The food - we had the most amazing snails, a pork chop & lamb cutlets cooked to perfection!! We will be back and recommend Kazani to all our family & friends !

What an incredible experience, truly unforgettable. As someone who is half Greek and half Australian, I’ve experienced both cultures, but the hospitality my family and I received here was next level. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms, warm, kind, genuinely hospitable, and incredibly accommodating. And that’s before I even mention the food. The dishes were absolutely phenomenal. The meat was tender and juicy, the vegetables fresh and vibrant, and the dips and sauces packed with flavour, rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere, beautiful. Live singers created an amazing vibe, and the restaurant layout was thoughtfully designed for both comfort and experience. I’d recommend this place to anyone and everyone. It wasn’t just a meal, it was a full cultural experience. Easily a 10,000 out of 10.
Alex M — Google review
We had such a great dinner at To Kazani! The pork souvlaki was some of the best we’ve had in Cyprus - tender, smoky and perfectly seasoned. It’s a cosy, family-run spot with the warmest service and real local charm. You can feel the love they put into everything they do.
Thomas W — Google review
Let's just say that the designer is better then their 👩‍🍳 chef. Once again google good reviews trap. It is not in a touristic area, so if I am eating there it should only be for the food. Unfortunately it is not the case. It's a pity for the region to serve such tasteless dishes.

What a place… Great food at reasonable prices and friendly service. The Maitre D was on top of his team like a hawk making sure everyone was seated immediately and served as quickly as possible. We had the Takis burger, octopus and the Las Vegas sushi. Everything was spot on; the food, service and atmosphere. It’s also technically on the beach so you don’t have to walk far. You can also see airplanes coming in to land as it is next to the airport. This place has everything.

A great place at Mackenzie for lunch. Exceptionally clean place. when we arrived in the morning for a take-away smoothy (which was great) the cleaners were deep cleaning, and you could tell they were attentive in their efforts and walls, nocks and crannies were getting a good scrub. We were in and out of the venue all day and on every occasion the toilets were immaculate. We walked off the beach at lunch and we shared all 3 salads and the beef skirt. it was fresh, crisp, exceptionally tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. went back for sun-downer cocktails later and those were also good.

Not bad. In summary, the bar is located by the seafront, offering a nice view. The food is okay, but be prepared for the crazy-loud music. Now to the full review: After two visits with friends and family I came up with a few key points that I'd like to mention. 1) The Atmosphere: The music is EXTREMELY LOUD, making it almost impossible to hear anyone near. There are real drummers, who play along to the prerecorded soundtracks, which overall makes the atmosphere more lively. The interior offers a breezy summer vibe, in the evenings you may witness colorful disco lights. 2) Taste: The food itself is pretty mid. I took two dishes - "The Hungry Takis Burger" (apparently the only burger on the menu, photo attached) and "Brooklyn Love" rolls (also attached). Though I ordered a medium fry, the burger arrived well-done, which made it taste a bit too dry. The bun was a regular package, not some fancy brioche, but eh, okay. [€16]. The rolls were pretty good: the rice was sticky, the fish was fresh, as well as the unique presentation made it a pleasant experience. [€10] Overall, the food was fine, nothing superficial, though its worth mentioning that the ingredients were fresh and the meals were neatly prepared. Despite the odds mentioned, the place is overall cool if you're looking for a warm-up before a night club, as it's very clean, the staff, well, *exists*, and the overall interior makes up for a fine place to be at.

Tucked away in a serene street near Larnaca's Town Hall, Stou Rousha Taverna offers a warm welcome and the enticing aroma of charcoal-grilled meat and fresh herbs in its leafy courtyard. The charming blue-checkered tables and flickering lanterns attract both tourists and locals, indicating its popularity for good food.
Extremely delicious homemade food! Always quick and hot! All positions are worth to try, but I personally recommend chicken souvlaki both with fresh chips and in pita.

Traditional Cypriot food with some nice twists. You can pick your own meze dishes and share as a group (recommended) or you can have an individual meal. The food is always cooked to perfection and the staff are polite and helpful. Eaten here many times and it’s always on the list when I visit Cyprus! Definitely make a booking as it is always very busy.
Gabriel O — Google review
What can we say about this place, we have been to Cyprus all our lives as we used to live here and also have Greek parents but we have never been to this restaurant until tonight. We have seen on Google that it was one of the top rated restaurants and we wanted to try somewhere new. We turned up about 8 pm without a reservation and they managed to squeeze it on the very last table they had. Now don’t be fooled by the fact that the restaurant itself is small with a few tables and they basically own the alleyway in between two precincts of shops that they have put their tables and chairs in between because this place was full and for good reason. We ordered the pork souvlakia x 3 with chips, rice, portion of chips, bulgur wheat, meatballs, tzatsiki, halloumi, three Coke zeros and a bottle of water and it was honestly the best restaurant we have ever eaten in Cyprus and it only came to €71 for all of that which is an absolute bargain and then they gave us this free traditional Cypriot custard type desert at the end, which was absolutely amazing. You have to come and visit this place because the food was top drawer and the wait time to be served the food was not long at all and the service were very polite.

Very good option for original Cypriot food. Also great to have a dessert offered on the house! Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Larnaca and wanting to have a taste of the local specialties instead of the commercial stuff made for the Brits ;)

It is extremely noisy, but the service was the worst part. We waitied 28 min and asked 5 times to order. We finally ordered. We receive beers quick but without glasses. Asked for glasses 7 times. Mine was with a lipstik (not mine). The salad was frozen (literally). The fries was the only warm in the plates - the meat was cold, and was not delicius. Even it costed us a lot of nerves to pay the bill. We were really happy to leave this restaurant.

Very disappointing experience in Larnaca, would not recommend. We waited over 20 minutes just to be acknowledged by the staff. I ordered the lamb liver, which turned out to be a big letdown in both taste and quality. To make things worse, my friends received their meals only after I had already finished eating. The staff were unprofessional, rude, and completely inattentive. If you’re not prepared to run a proper business, it’s better not to open one at all. I left feeling frustrated and still hungry. 😬

The dishes are really good and I really liked them all, the problem here is that the service is quite long and i had to remind them my order for 3 times, until I'd finally get all my order. The ambience is okay but it also is really loud and you need to be careful moving since the waiters run constantly to each room to another
