Prom. des Anglais is a 7-km-long beachfront promenade in Nice, France, lined with palm trees and featuring a bike path. It has been a popular spot since the 18th century when English aristocrats sought refuge from winter weather. The promenade extends from the airport to Nice's old town and is home to many hotels and cafes. Visitors can enjoy seaside walks, known locally as 'the Prom,' while taking in the sea air and lively atmosphere of Nice.
Very beautiful, scenic and lively avenue along the coast with passengers walking around in numbers even at midnight. And the avenue is exceptionally bright, of course.
Quang T — Google review
There’s nothing like witnessing the sunrise during a morning run along the promenade. Ending the run by dipping my feet in the sea and listening to the waves and birds is a truly wonderful way to begin the day. It's a perfect moment of peace and connection with nature!
Manar A — Google review
Beautiful pebble beach with public shower options
Ankur V — Google review
Great views of the bay and the city. The promenade is apparently over 7 kilometers long and offers lovely views of the water and the city. You can also get a great view of planes taking off to land and coming in at Nice airport! With so much seating available it is a fantastic spot to park up with some takeaway food and watch the world go by. It can be especially pretty at sunset. If you are visiting Nice you will probably walk along here a bunch of times
Connor G — Google review
Wide, wonderful, paved walking path between the town and the sea. Sit in one of the famous blue chairs to watch the waves and the beach scene. It's an enjoyable stroll at any time of day.
Ron S — Google review
Great for walking, jogging, people watching. Mostly crowded. Sunsets can be beautiful 🌇
Priyamvad T — Google review
Nice is a very beautiful city. I could not have enough of it. The clear blue water and the buildings are just breathe taking. Even from the airplane I could see the blue color of the sea. This city should be seen on feet, walking around is the best to see its beauty. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the long beach. It was difficult to walk with my feet in the water because it was a stone beach not sand one.
Ban A — Google review
Every visitor to Nice must visit here. The sun and beach, this is Mediterranean life.

This prime location serves as an ideal base for exploring the city's rich cultural sites, beautiful beaches, and significant historical landmarks. The central square of Nice is surrounded by parks, shops, and dining options with easy access to the beach and train station. Visitors can enjoy the well-maintained surroundings adorned with lush plants and palm trees during both day and night.
Wide open areas where the surrounding restaurants and cages put out tables and seating to eat and drink outside.
RL M — Google review
Very disappointed with the way the carnival was conducted. The place itself was ok but man is there 0 information about what happens on opening night. They say its free for entry and then when you queue up suddenly everyone has tickets. They block the whole view from the sides for the carnival and hold it in a super exclusive staged area. We travelled all the way from UK for this for nothing. If people say we should have bought tickets in advance, its clearly mentioned on the website that its free on opening day and doesn't mention about any tickets!
Sujir N — Google review
Lovely area with live music regularly. We found many shops and restaurants in the area. We didn't have a chance to see if uber was well represented here because our hotel was close enough to the water as close enough to Nice Massena that we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Old city is very near. So is the castle hill. Both places I would highly recommend. The beech of course, too! We found it quite easy to communicate as English speakers. We were only in Nice 2.5 days but would happily return to this area!
Kate H — Google review
If you're in the French Riviera, you clearly have to come to Nice and to visit this place. It's always full of people, a lot of places where you can seat. Thanks to the metro it's pretty easy to go there. Also most of the time there are artists which perform music.
Jeune R — Google review
The place was simply beautiful. There are lots and lots of services like restaurants, bars opened till night, markets, clothing markets and souvenir markets. The bus servise works also very good all around the city. You can visit a lot of places in the city like Massena square, Garibaldi Square, the old city centre, the castle, the English promenade. There are many things to do and to visit. You must Go there!!!!
Carmen R — Google review
One of the nicest parts of Nice I visited (pun intended). I was there during the Fifa women's world cup and Rngland was playing, all the expats were out in force. It was enjoyable.
Rodwell M — Google review
City centre good for hangout It is well connected by tram, busses and even Nice central train station. This is large square with lots of activities and entertainment. Many shops and restaurants are located alongside this square. Sea beach is on walkable distance.
Varsha — Google review
Lovely place for kids chill out in hot days. Two down point though: locals take dogs for a ride in the middle of kids playing and some others smoking closing by where there are kids around.

Marc Chagall National Museum

National museum
Museums
The Marc Chagall National Museum is a tribute to the works of the Russian-born French artist, showcasing his paintings and other artistic creations. The museum's architecture by Andre Hermant complements Chagall's use of color and light, with large windows illuminating lithographs, sculptures, and paintings. Visitors can explore Chagall's biblical and spiritual inspirations through free audio guides in what is the largest public collection of his works worldwide.
This national museum houses a permanent exhibit of Chagall's paintings, stained glass, and mosaics. The paintings are from his biblical cycle. A documentary film illustrates the creation of the four seasons mosaic. The museum is located in a quiet park, including a cafe and restaurant.
Beat S — Google review
Nice’s museum opened by and dedicated to Marc Chagall - primarily consisting of his ‘biblical’ works, and those related to religious themes and tropes. Interesting to see this line of his work compared to some of his other more famous pieces. Not overly big, but interesting for any art lovers.
Matt W — Google review
The Marc Chagall National Museum is located in a primarily residential neighbor situated on the hills of Nice. This museum was inaugurated while Chagall was still alive and it houses several of his paintings as well as explores his famous mosaics. There are tours available on a first come first serve basis. Guillemette, our tour guide, was extremely informative sharing insights into Chagall’s history, his collaborators, and his inspirations. We learned about the process of making mosaics too from creative inception to the actual works. What’s more, there is an outdoor cafe that’s serves sweet and savory, hot and cold snacks and beverages that is also worth checking out. Keep in mind, you will be asked to remove your water bottles and any food that you bring with you so best to avoid bringing them. Recommend bringing very small bag if any at all. Spent a delightful couple of hours at the Marc Chagall museum enjoying his art and the natural surroundings. Highly recommend
Nanita — Google review
Visiting the Chagall Museum in Nice was an absolute delight. Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, it feels like stepping into a peaceful world filled with color, imagination, and poetry. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by Chagall’s luminous blues and dreamlike scenes that seem to glow from within. What I loved most was how personal and intimate the museum feels — it’s not overwhelming, and you can really take your time with each painting. The biblical message series is breathtaking, and the stained-glass windows add a special light that changes the whole atmosphere. The staff were welcoming, and the small garden outside is perfect for sitting for a few minutes to let everything sink in. It’s one of those places that leaves you both calm and inspired
Ani B — Google review
The Marc Chagall National Museum in Nice, France together with the Matisse Museum were my unexpected finds in a vacation that was just free flowing and no detailed itinerary. At first, I was apprehensive as it was my first time to visit a museum on my own and in another country even. However, I did not regret my decision to forego seeing Cannes in favour of the great works of Chagall and Matisse all in one day! The 75 or so Euros cost of Uber (Holiday Inn Hotel - Matisse Museum - Holiday Inn - Chagall Museum - Hotel) plus tickets in both museums was definitely worth it! The Chagall Museum was inaugurated on July 7, 1973, and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. It houses a large number of artworks donated by Chagall, his wife, and his heirs to the State of France, including the 17 Biblical paintings inspired by the books of Genesis, Exodus and Songs. The museum is located in the Cimiez district with address Av. Dr Ménard, 06000 Nice, France. It stands on a vast plot of land donated by the city of Nice. The entrance to the museum is 10 euros and is opened from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM it closes on Tuesdays. I bought my ticket in the museum without hassle and entered immediately. #MarcChagallMuseum #MarcChagall #FrenchRiviera #museum
Pearly J — Google review
I don’t consider myself as a very artistic person and usually not sure about how to interpret modern art. But in this gallery I did enjoy simply looking at Chagall’s masterpieces and felt a beautiful soul, an innocent mind, and curious attitude toward the world.
Yulan Z — Google review
Sadly it's in need of upkeep but the art is still spectacular. The fountain around the outside mural is empty. And the museum closes for lunch. And the red room is posed off. You can only view it from it's entrance.
Marc L — Google review
Biblical Message cycle: The centerpiece, displayed over 12 walls in a distinctive rhombus configuration, delivers a striking visual narrative with intense color, spiritual depth, and dreamlike quality . Song of Songs paintings: A smaller, intimate series with red-dominated canvases blending sacred, carnal, and musical themes . Stained glass & mosaics: Notable are the stained glass in the auditorium and the Prophet Elijah mosaic overlooking a reflective pool—Chagall’s own in‑situ creations. Free parking available . Suggested visit time: At least 1 hour, more if attending an event or exploring the gardens . The Musée National Marc Chagall is a heartfelt tribute to the artist’s spiritual vision and remains one of the most authentic places to immerse in his biblical-themed art. It’s especially compelling for fans of Chagall or those seeking a serene, contemplative museum experience. For casual visitors, a one-hour visit is sufficient to appreciate its beauty and thoughtful architecture nestled in a Mediterranean garden.

Colline du Château

Park
Nature & Parks
Colline du Château, also known as Castle Hill, is a historic hilltop park in Nice that offers breathtaking views of the city and the sea. The climb up the stone steps to this hill is short but rewarding, with turquoise coasts and apricot-colored roofs spreading out before you as you ascend. From the summit, you can enjoy grand vistas of the Old Port with its yachts and sails, as well as distant views of the snow-dusted peaks of the Alps.
We reached the top by cart. The road itself is beautiful, the nature and remains that we saw prepared us for the view and the pigeons, wonderful, white ones. The view of the place is fantastic, and a large part of the park is left for children and adults to enjoy freely. A great place to spend the day. The view of the waterfall, from above, leaves an unusual impression. It may take a bit of sanding, but the experience is unforgettable.
Ana F — Google review
Wonderful place and totally worth the climb! Tip: go in the morning, the sun hits the hill on the other side. You will get better views and will avoid the crowds. Also, if you go in summer, it's way cooler!
Christie B — Google review
Coming here in the rain turned out to be an excellent idea — there were almost no people around, and the views were still amazing. A bunch of viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea, walking trails, waterfalls, parks… it feels like someone was playing a video game and packed everything into one place. A beautiful experience.
Filip P — Google review
The Colline du Château is also known as Castle Hill. It has several ideal lookouts / viewpoints from where you can see the best views of Nice. At the top there is even a terrace with a couple of benches, occasionally with a musician - there was a drummer when we were there. In addition to many scenic walks and viewpoints, there is also a waterfall, archeological ruins, playgrounds for children, and a cafe. It’s hard to miss seeing the Colline du Château from the famous Promenade d’Anglais and whether ascending either by steps on one side or a ramp on the other, it’s worth the effort. Spend an hour or the day as there are plenty of public restrooms and a couple of snack kiosks. Highly recommend!
Nanita — Google review
Parc de la Colline du Château ended up being one of my favorite spots in Nice. The park is absolutely beautiful—lush pathways, peaceful corners, and some of the best panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean. Whether you hike up, take the stairs, or use the elevator, the views at the top are completely worth it. I loved wandering around the ruins, the gardens, and the waterfall area. It’s the perfect place to take a break from the busier streets below and just soak in the scenery. The mix of history and nature gives the whole park a calm, charming vibe. Overall, Parc de la Colline du Château is a must-visit when in Nice—great for photos, relaxing walks, and unbeatable views of the coastline and Old Town.
Dee G — Google review
Colline du Château offers the quintessential Nice experience! Ascending to the top rewards you with arguably the most spectacular panoramic views of the Baie des Anges, the bustling port, and the terracotta rooftops of Vieux Nice. The waterfall is a delightful surprise, and the park itself is a perfect, peaceful escape from the city's energy. A must-visit spot for breathtaking scenery and a moment of calm reflection!
Katarzyna N — Google review
Amazing view point for Nice and a good day out for sure! There is a lift you can take to the top of the hill which definitely improves the accessibility. It is decently busy (but what else would you expect). Upon my visit there was 2 people I encountered who seemed to be a little pushy to get people to take pictures with their Doves in exchange for money.
Grace — Google review
Colline du Chateau, also known as Castle Hill is a wonderful walk with stunning views of Nice. The waterfall was spectacular. We were also surprised to find a couple of places at the top of the hill where you could purchase refreshments. No tickets required, the walk is free, unless of course you wish to skip the exercise and catch the little visitor train.

Campsites French Riviera Menton - St Michel

Historic Sites
Campsites French Riviera Menton - St Michel is a modest hillside campground in Menton offering tent and caravan sites, as well as cabin rentals. It provides basic facilities including clean showers and restrooms. The staff are friendly and helpful, providing a full introduction to the camp upon arrival. The campground offers beautiful ocean views from its location in the hills of Menton, although it may not be suitable for those without a car due to its elevated position.
We stayed at the beginning of September for 4 nights in a camper, and it was an amazing experience. The hosts were very kind, helping us with advices on what to visit, how to get around Menton. We were able to do laundry (5€) and borrow a dryer. The spot we had reserved was near the reception so we used the bathrooms behind the reception. The bathrooms were clean, we had toilet paper. The only downside was that there was only one toilet, but we didn’t had to wait in line. We were able to get water from a spring right in the camping, with no extra payment. The camping location is beautiful, with a view of the sea and the city of Menton. But it is a bit difficult to get to the camping on foot, as there are a lot of steps. There is a bus that takes you from the city center to the camping, but it passes the camping only twice a day.
Mihaela P — Google review
Spent 1 night with 1 tent here. The view is great, staff is friendly. The campsite has decent and clean showers and toilets. You can easily access by foot from the town, but it is a steep and sweaty hike in the summer! 20 euros for the night (solo, 1 tent, 1 night, no car). Slightly noisy depending on where your spot is because you can hear cars/motorcycles from the roads.
Noemie V — Google review
Nice location for train excursions to nice and Monte Carlo as well as the town itself. Bathrooms older and not clean. Not even toilet paper provided. A bit pricey at Euro 48 per night off season. Approach is a bit challenging for larger motorhomes.
Ralf A — Google review
Camping with a great view to the sea. Great showers. Soap for the toilet but no toilet paper. Very expansive (20 euro for small tent and one person, I think 27 for 2) very nice receptionist. Stayed here for 3 nights at first, next year for 1 night and then again for 6, so I totally recommend it. Would come back if I can. Great sunrises at the end of September (beginning of September they come from the mountain), so you should wake up early :)
Alon G — Google review
Great campsite in a great part of the French Riviera. We have returned to the campsite having spent 4 nights in our campervan last year. The facilities are kept clean and the staff are very accommodating and friendly. Steep walk up to the campsite but it doesn’t take long.
Dan R — Google review
Very noisy. Hard to sleep. Seems to be more of a park ground for cars to drive in and out than a camping… it‘s streets all around d the camp ground. Over priced. Not warm welcoming.
Gitti G — Google review
Lovely campsite in Old Menton. Great welcome from staff. Great pitch overlooking sea. Snack bar. Facilities clean. Not noisy. Only downside is that it is located at the top of a lot of steps.

The Jean Cocteau Museum - Severin Wunderman Collection, completed in 2011, is a modern-art museum located on the French Riviera. It showcases the diverse works of Jean Cocteau, including drawings, ceramics, paintings, and cinematographic pieces. The museum was made possible by art collector Severin Wunderman's donation of around 1500 Cocteau works to Menton in 2005.
I loved the layout of this museum. It’s accessible by foot and was an aesthetic collection of Jean Cocteau’s works.
Tracey T — Google review
Contrary to what is indicated, the Cocteau Museum is closed down since several years (due to storm damage) and looks abandoned. Part of the collection can be visited in the nearby "Bastion". The original Cocteau Museum building was anyway not a brilliant addition to the beautiful city of Menton, so let's hope that it will simply be razed one day.
Alfred H — Google review
On the promenade you will admire the magnificent architecturally modern building that houses the Jean Cocteau museum (Musee Jean Cocteau). It contains 2000 works by Jean Cocteau, the multi-talented French artist, painter, poet and director. He lived a large part of his life in Mendon and when he died he donated his works to the city. The Museum will delight those who visit it, especially art lovers.

The garden is home to 5,800 exotic plants thriving in the Mediterranean microclimate, including agaves, palms, rare fruit orchards, and over 60 species of citrus. Visitors can also enjoy a small pebble beach within the garden's premises.
Loved the experience there! It was very hot the day we went, so we decided to change our shoes into open once, bad choice! Make sure you have your sneakers on, and be ready to walk a lot. We spent 2 hours inside and weren’t able to see everything, take into account a 3/3.5 hours visit, also take with you something to drink and maybe a snack, you can go all the way down to the cafe and consume your own things as well. The price of the ticket is very good considered the amount of things you can see, my suggestion (OF COURSE) is spring, to be able to enjoy fully all the flowers and roses that are in the garden.

Visited end of July. Perhaps there was a water restriction as the gardens seemed dry. Places needed trimming or at least tidied up. A bit run down. Paths and stairs need renovating. A few areas/paths closed. I would love to visit again when not so dry and renovations finished. Free parking limited to the street. Lovely view of the sea.

What an incredibly beautiful property. This garden is absolutely worth a visit. It's best to allocate at least 1hr to visit and discover the beauty of this garden! Parking options are a bit limited and visitors need to park alongside the main road.

I love botanical gardens and try to visit at least a new one each vacation. The location of Hanbury botanical gardens is very special, with great views of the Mediterranean sea, and have interesting features, in terms of the antique buildings, plants and decorations (statues, etc) but imo it really needs more care! We visited in August, which I understand is a hot and dry month, but in comparison to other botanical gardens -in the same region- also visited in summer, this one could really gain with more irrigation, plant care, and some details as more labeling of the plants species and some additional informative data (origin, uses, etc) Hope this comment is taken into consideration for improvement.

Would not have missed this botanical gardens. We've spend approximately 3 hours here. The garden is beautiful even at early September. It is true that some parts need some maintenance, but it also gives some extra charm to it. Imagine the potential! A big plus is the silence, especially since the rest of Cote d'Azur is such a busy and extravert environment. Highly appreciated!
Jan-Thijs K — Google review
Just a fantastic garden and setting. Put aside a few hours for a walk around the garden. Numerous viewpoints and benches to sit and soak up the plants, cactus and trees. Even a cafe!
Stuart — Google review
Very impressive and beautiful. Unfortunately some parts were closed due to storm damage. But still it was a walk of wonder and delight to see all this exotic flora and spectacular views! Take notice there is no dedicated parking lot so be prepared to park your car along the street, hopefully not too far off.

Riserva Bianca Limone Piemonte is a versatile resort that offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter, as well as mountain biking in the summer. The area features hundreds of kilometers of slopes with various levels of difficulty, from ice climbing to snowshoeing, skating rinks to bobsleigh tracks. While it may be challenging for beginners due to limited easy trails, there are accessible chairlifts and good dining options at Maneggio.
Super helpful and friendly! They went the extra mile when the resort was closed due to weather and really did us a favour

Snow isn't great for the start of the season. And the cost is around 49€ per day, so it's Very expensive. But the lifts are in perfect condition and the slopes are very nice
Ethan S — Google review
Nice ski area where you can find slopes for all levels. Nice staff, nice views, toilets are free and most of the time clean. The only bad point is that the direction is greedy for the tamping of the slopes, no tamping from Sunday to Saturday ... a little bit exaggerated But despite that it is a really nice place to enjoy days with friends or family for an honest price.
Maxime — Google review
A bit hard for a beginner. A lot of reds and blacks, a few blues. Maneggio is the place to go if you are new to skiing, there's easy access chair-lifts/ski-lifts as well as really good restaurants. Ate pretty good pizzas there that wasn't too expensive. If you are renting ski equipment near the village, you can take the cable car up but only red trails will be available to get to Maneggio. We had a hard time on the first day to get there since it was our first time, we chose to walk on the second day (approx 10min from Bottero Ski shop to Maneggio). Booking the skipass online was quite a hard task, the website is mostly in italian with some bad translations, but managed to get past it and get a pass for me and 2 friends. Will surely come back next time for some snowboarding!

Fantastic time in the caves. Brilliant guide who seamlessly switched between Italian, French & English.
Butt N — Google review
Let’s start with the one and only positive thing, the cave was absolutely gorgeous and enormous. On the other hand, the trip was quite on the expensive side and the guide was awful to say the least. Our group contained about 30 people while only like the first 10 could hear what the guide was rambling on about. All this in Italian while he asked if there were English people and we said that we were. So despite him knowing there were multiple foreign people coming along he just talked only in Italian which we couldn’t understand at all. The tour was about 2-2,5 hours and hence the experience being not so great overall.
Smurf S — Google review
It is fun but a lot of stairs, I recommend this for people who like to sport and I don't recommend this for people who can't climb a lot of stairs
BlackForest54 — Google review
Beautiful caves, well worth the ride. The guide was fluent in Italian and French, but not so much English. The commentary was therefore limited, but I didn't mind. If you have difficulty walking, think again before going there.

Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary

Sanctuary
Sights & Landmarks
The Sanctuary of the Nativity of Mary is a monumental church with a vast, frescoed cupola completed in the 1700s, making it the largest elliptical dome in the world. This UNESCO heritage site is adorned with intricate paintings and holds significance as one of the sanctuaries of Italy's ruling family, the Savoys. Visitors can join organized tours to explore its interior and climb up to the lantern 50m high.
Beautiful domed cathedral with very ornate interior. Free entry, although I think there are paid visits to climb the dome (which we didn't do on the cloudy day of our visit). Was very quiet in mid-June and was able to park right outside. Well worth a look if you are passing. The map shows a cloister next door, but this is actually run as a hotel so didn't go in there.
Robin R — Google review
This amazing Sanctuary is unsurprisingly one of the best known tourist attractions in Piedmont, whose elliptical dome is the largest in the world. Indeed, the "Santuario Basilica Regina Montis Regalis", appointed in honor of the Nativity of the Most Holy Virgin Mary, has the largest masonry elliptical dome in the world. Following miraculous healings, the place became in 1594 a place of devotion to the representation of the Virgin and Child, painted on a votive station. The complex has its origin in a votive pillar on which is decorated a fresco of the 15th century representing the Virgin and Child, made to promote the good cooking of the bricks. A prodigious hunting accident made this site an increasingly frequent pilgrimage place, so much so that the Duke Charles Emmanuel I of Savoie Commandita the construction of a large sanctuary in 1596. The sanctuary was to welcome the many pilgrims and become a place intended for the tombs of the family but the mausoleum of the house of Savoy was then transferred to the Basilic de Superga. However, its construction experienced a fairly long gestation ... And once again, it was Francesco Gallo who pulled chestnuts out of the fire by achieving the feat of building, in 1728, the imposing elliptical dome, 74 meters high. It is said that when we had to dismantle the finished dome reinforcement, given the enormity of the work, the workers refused to remove the supports for fear of a collapse and Gallo had to go to dismantle the scaffolding to demonstrate the stability of the building! But this magnificent elliptical dome, with unique characteristics, was finally completed in 1733. Since when the architect and the Duke were both died, the construction stopped and the work did not resume until several years later ... The frescoes of the pictorial work of more than 6,000 square meters, of baroque inspiration, were painted by Felice Biella and Mattia Bortoloni between 1746 and 1748. The “Magnificat” project allows today to admire their fantastic work as close as possible and to visit this extraordinary dome and reach the lantern, 60 meters high ! This majestic monumental complex also includes a Cistercian monastery, currently used as a structure of accommodation, and "palazzata", semi-octogonal portico on which shops and catering places, as well as the Ufficio Turistico. Finally, on September 8, on the occasion of the solemn celebration of the Nativity of Marie, we can participate in the "will be Madona", one of the oldest and important traditional Piedmont fairs.

A place not to miss. It's a breathtaking dome in a very endearing city. With the mountain outlined in the horizon it is really a must go in the area.

Stina G — Google review
We decided to spend Easter in the Provinces of Cuneo, and our first stop was here, at the Sanctuary, it looks amazing and majestic, it is one of the most famous in the region of Piedmont and the biggest in the world, the elliptical dome has wonderful frescoes, really a nice place to visit and see it for yourself and not just in photos, the place is sorrounded by arcades with shops and bars.

The catholic church San Giovanni Battista has a plain exterior, but upon entering, one is greeted by a vast and cool interior that exudes tranquility. The ornate decorations inside are tasteful and elegant, without being overly showy. In March 2018, there was no entrance fee to visit this beautiful church. It’s ok - a brick wall along the side of a busy street covered with 100’s of tiles. There are some interesting tiles but 95% mean nothing to a non-Italian visitor. Small monument to Nelson who was involved in a sea battle against the French (obviously) in the bay of Alassio in 1795 which I was not aware of.

(Translated by Google) Embarrassing. We weren't at the establishment, but we had consumed drinks at the bar several times during the day and used the restrooms. After our last drink, when it came time to get the bill (which they asked for at the end because it was too inconvenient to make multiple transactions), they insinuated that we had omitted A BOTTLE OF WATER, practically taking us for thieves. The next time we entered, they even "kindly" approached us to deny us use of the restrooms we had used up until that time. We were lucky to still have customers, given the other similar reviews. (Original) Imbarazzanti.

(Translated by Google) Arrogance instead of hospitality I called to ask if we could book a table for lunch and I was truly speechless. As soon as I used a slightly more sophisticated expression (nothing strange, eh), I was immediately mocked, with a sarcastic tone and almost mocking me. When I asked why they were treating me like that, the answer was even worse: I was told that "I have to adapt", that "I'm going to the beach" and therefore I should speak in a less "polished" way. Honestly, it is one of the most absurd and rude conversations I have ever had with someone who works in contact with the public. Education should be the minimum, especially in a place that deals with hospitality. I wouldn't recommend it even if it were the only establishment on the face of the Earth. Even if it were the best food in the universe, I wouldn't go back there even by mistake.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful walk ... but it could be so much better. 4 years after the storm that had destroyed it in several places and still to be finished 👏. Total absence of benches along the way 😢 I don't find it very hospitable. The worst thing is the lack of distinction between the pedestrian and the cycling path ... leaving the latter free to run anywhere without respecting pedestrians. Very dangerous. The landscape pays off but as usual ... unfinished !!! Molto pericoloso. Il paesaggio ripaga ma come al solito... incompiuta!!! 🤬

(Translated by Google) The walk deserves 5 stars. It's a really nice place to walk, beautiful beaches and fantastic view.. But to be honest, something could be improved. Along the way there are very few benches, and being the walk itself quite long and without much shade, this could be a problem. There is also no bicycle lane, which can lead to collisions between cyclists and pedestrians. (Original) La passeggiata merita 5 stelle.

The 18th-century Citadel of Alessandria, which boasts a multi-point star shape, has parklike grounds that visitors can explore. Its remarkable history is set to be revived thanks to the outstanding efforts of people in Alessandria and the EU. The fortress protected the city and its strategic location makes it an ideal place to discuss the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho.
An incredible history that will be restored to life again thanks to incredible people in Alessandria and the EU ! I went early and was alone -It was fantastic as is the city it protected.

Great place to go around, but closed during the week. The place is rid with mosquitos though...
Athenaeum — Google review
It's a UNESCO site, unique as it's the only one in the world that is complete as a citadel built in the Late 1700 s and built for an army of 70-100 thousand soldiers. The area has been invaded so many times over history, the buildings are so intact and well constructed the scale is mesmerising, when you're there you can only imagine how once it was so busy with thousands of young soldiers through time occupying that space and training . All that is left is the silence and the sound of the birds . It's free to view and at the weekend you can view the museum with the uniforms .
Amanda E — Google review
The building itself is impressive and has a lot of potential. But the site is not developed and in quite a sad state. It's OK for a quick walk through but I would not go out of the way to explore it.

Forte di Gavi is a well-preserved fortress that has gained fame as the Italian Alcatraz. Originally a medieval castle, it offers guided tours every hour and boasts an amazing view. While the interior may not have much to offer, the guided tour provides valuable insights into its history. The fortress, built by the Genoese Republic, is a must-visit for enthusiasts of medieval and modern history.
It was closed to visit inside (we’ve been there in January) but you will have the best view around it!
Anna S — Google review
Very nice fortress but not too much to see inside even with the paid guided tour (€5/person). So if you don’t won’t to pay just stay in Gavi and enjoy the view up the hill ;-)

WOW! What an awesome and inspiring historical masterpiece! I wish it has been open. Walking around it was awesome, but I'd really love to go inside.

We came at the perfect time to catch a tour with a couple who reserved it in advance. They do tours about once every hour and a half, you have to wait if they are on a tour as the door is clothed in between. The tour is an hour and a half and it’s in Italian. A lot of history and art. The views are nice. There is no exploring on our own- just the tour.
Sighting S — Google review
Very impressive fort with a rich history. Unfortunately you can only visit it on very specific days and times (very random days). So double check before showing up - you can always walk a bit around it when it's closed, but that's about it!
Diane J — Google review
An interesting fortress which has been rebuilt from a medieval castle. Entry with a guided tour every hour at half past. The guide spoke no English, but was very friendly, and fortunately there were detailed printed texts in English.
Moja F — Google review
It's a beautiful fort with a rich history. I recommend looking at the opening times though. When we visited, it only opened at fixed times - and guided tour only. So it wasn't possible to walk around freely. The tour took about 100 minutes.

Nice spot to explore and learn about naval history. Gallery has to-scale ships and also many interactive spaces. You can also go inside a decommissioned submarine. There is a nice view of the Genova area at the top of the gallery.

The museum is quite big. It consist of 4 levels with each floor has a different stor in which youre directed to have a tour route to enjoy all the story it host some colombus history, the genovese role, italian immigration around the world, and a replica how the ship looked like in the past. If youre scared of narrow space, id suggest to skip the submarine experience. Note: im a bit confused how to find the exit door at the end of the route.

Five floor building with a lot of contents, including real-size genoese vessels, various historical stuff about maritime history of the Genoa republic, and a great panoramic view and a seating area on the top floor. Old Port Bar, also known as Porto Antico, is a historic waterfront area in Genoa that has been active since the fifth century BC. Renzo Piano's renovations have transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring attractions such as an aquarium, museums, an open-air pool, and numerous restaurants and bars. The port holds significant historical landmarks like Palazzo San Giorgio, which was once a jail and housed the world's first bank in the early 1400s.
Friendly service and great food. We stopped in for lunch today. The food was incredible. Our server was very good and spoke a fair amount of English. The view of the port added to the overall wonderful experience!

Acquario di Genova

Aquarium
Nature & Parks
The Aquarium of Genoa is a remarkable destination located in the historic Porto Antico, an area that has undergone significant transformation over the centuries. Once a bustling hub for maritime activities, this waterfront locale was revitalized during the 1992 Expo through the visionary work of architect Renzo Piano. The aquarium showcases an impressive array of marine and freshwater species within its thoughtfully designed aquatic ecosystem display tanks, making it a must-visit attraction for nature enthusiasts and families alike.
Visiting the Aquarium of Genoa was a truly unforgettable experience. We were deeply impressed by the incredible variety of marine species on display—from colorful tropical fish and majestic sharks to playful dolphins and graceful jellyfish. Each exhibit was beautifully curated, allowing us to admire the unique beauty of every creature up close. The interior spaces were thoughtfully designed and remarkably immersive, making us feel as though we were walking through an underwater world. Everything was clean, well-organized, and visually stunning. The attention to detail in both the habitats and the educational displays added so much value to the visit. Overall, the Acquario di Genova exceeded our expectations. It's not just a place for children or marine enthusiasts—it's a breathtaking experience for anyone who appreciates nature's beauty. Highly recommended!

The places does impress the wanderers due to its vastness and abundance of various exotic expostinions. There are many interesting acquariums including both commonly known sea critters as well as even more interesting unpopular ones. If it's not enough for you, don't worry! There are a handful of beautifully recreated biomes containing the richness of coral reefs, raw desert enviroments full with beautifull animals as well as huge pool with eager to play dolphins within.
Antoni S — Google review
I love visiting aquariums. My favorite places among the aquariums I've visited so far are L’Oceanogràfic Valencia, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Moskvarium. This aquarium Genoa is quite small but it's easy to visit location for tourists and jellyfish tanks were lovely. I visited there during the winter off-season and there was no line so I am not sure if it was necessary to buy the on-line entrance ticket in advance.
Adam — Google review
This city is unique, special, and legendary. Although there are a lot of immigrants who create problems of cleanliness and also other kind. This aquarium is very large and interesting. It took about 2 hours to fully explord it. There are many species of marine animals here. It is always interesting to look at them and at the same time read information about them. And a large hall with a huge panoramic glass wall, through which you can see dolphins swimming underwater, was the realization of a child's dream. Sitting there, listening to the soothing music and looking at this magnificence was incomparable. Many people believe that the price of entering an aquarium is high. Maybe that's true.
Kakha K — Google review
We LOVED IT, this aquarium is huge and has some sea life I haven’t seen in US. We love aquariums, you can’t go wrong. Our daughter loves the jellyfish and some cool snakes in there Husband said the manatees were amazing and large variety of sea life and frogs. When you start you are on the bottom level and you go through the whole bottom level… then you go upstairs and see everything upstairs but also have a view of sharks and other animals you saw downstairs and upstairs is best for pictures of the dolphins and sharks - for me. There is also an area you can touch some sea life.
Jenny I — Google review
Really enjoyed the aquarium! It is quite busy as one wood expect but it flows pretty well out and back. Lots of different species of marine life to see from all over the world. Buy tickets in advance to avoid lining up twice and beware all the people outside trying to sell/force stuff into your hands.
Jeffrey T — Google review
Great place to visit for all ages. It’s a beautiful aquarium that has everything you would expect. The heating is terrible and it is hot if you go in the summer. The animals are very active and seem to be taken care of well. If in the area, it is worth your time to visit.
Justin Y — Google review
Thoughtfully curated exhibits and environments such as Amazon, Lake Malawi, corals in addition to cetaceans, penguins, seals, sharks. Although the tanks and holding areas are quite large, it is sad to see the mammals and large fish confined. Dark tunnels add to the anticipation. Children will enjoy the touch tank area. Cafe, gift shops. Commentaries in Italian and English.

Cattedrale di San Lorenzo

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Genoa, the Cattedrale di San Lorenzo stands as a stunning example of Romanesque architecture, characterized by its striking black-and-white striped façade. This magnificent cathedral, constructed between the 12th and 14th centuries, boasts an interior adorned with exquisite frescoes and houses unique holy relics that draw visitors from all over. As you stroll along Via San Lorenzo, you'll encounter this iconic landmark flanked by two majestic lions at its entrance.
A true Genovese gem. Step inside for the dramatic black-and-white marble, stay for the climb. The tower rewards you with breathtaking views of the city and sea, 100% worth the steps. If you’re only seeing one thing in Genova, let it be this. Gothic vibes + skyline goals.

On this street, there are countless buildings that look like little palaces. Some can be entered for free, while others require a ticket to explore further. From the outside they don’t seem particularly special, but inside they’re full of surprises. I recommend going into one or two to take a look.
Stephon C — Google review
Impressive cathedral that features the typical black and white marble stripes which were a symbol of medieval Genoese nobility. The church, without 5o Genoese Gothic architecture, was completed in the early 14th century. The Interior is primarily Romanesque, with Renaissance and Baroque additions in later centuries. Watch the lion sculptures besides the stairs at the front.
Seimen B — Google review
Such a beautiful church. It was free and definitely worth a visit inside. I was wearing shorts, and so they said people not go past a certain point wearing shorts or skirts. So be aware of that in summer.
Bethany S — Google review
The church contains purported sacred relics of Saint John the Baptist (the city's patron saint), which arrived in 1099 AD; and the Sacred Belt of the Virgin Mary. Although I probably walked past the chapels with these relics, I didn’t know what I was looking at so didn’t get pics. So research beforehand so you don't miss them like I did!
Eileen W — Google review
Gorgeous. Keep in mind they expect a dress code. So if you have tank top and a skirt you wont be able to go further in. Cathedral is free, but for a fee you can also go to the tower and museum. Very very pretty!
Delfina O — Google review
Genoa's Cathedral of San Lorenzo (Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Lorenzo) is one of the city's most important and recognizable churches—a blend of history, diverse architectural styles, and rich sacred art. Below is a general description: history, architecture, interior, works of art, and interesting facts. The first churches on this site date back to the 5th and 6th centuries. An early basilica existed here, already being expanded and serving as a Christian community. The current church was consecrated by Pope Gelasius II in 1118, at which time San Lorenzo gained cathedral status. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the building underwent significant renovations: Gothic elements were added, and a distinctive façade, interior colonnades, and side chapels were created. After a fire in 1296, repair and reconstruction work were necessary. In the 16th century, the architect Galeazzo Alessi designed significant modifications, including: The dome, apse, and roofs of the side naves. Restorations were carried out in the 19th and 20th centuries, restoring or enhancing the medieval elements of the original building. This work was also carried out as part of the Jubilee of the Year 2000. The façade features characteristic black and white marble stripes—a feature common to many churches in northern Italy, including the influence of Pisa and Liguria. Three portals are decorated with reliefs and sculptures. The lunettes above the main portal feature a motif of the Martyrdom of St. Lawrence (San Lorenzo) and an image of God the Father with symbols of the Evangelists. Two towers (bell towers) flank the façade: one left tower was not originally completed, while the upper part of the right tower was completed later (16th century). The divergence of the towers gives the façade a slightly asymmetrical character. Stairs and fortifications in front of the cathedral: In the 19th century, the front stairs were rebuilt and marble lions were added, repositioned following urban changes (raising/lowering the square, etc.). The basilica has a traditional layout with three naves divided by columns. The side naves contain numerous chapels, donated by various families and foundations. Behind the main altar are the dome and apse designed by Galeazzo Alessi. The apse features late Mannerist and Baroque decorations, including frescoes by Lazzaro Tavarone. The Chapel of St. John the Baptist (San Giovanni Battista) — one of the most valuable interiors: sculptures, reliefs, marble decorations, and works by artists such as Matteo Civitale, Andrea Sansovino, and Giovanni d’Aria. The interior is rich in frescoes, stained glass, marble decorations, and stucco; Decorative elements represent the artistic traditions of Liguria, Tuscany, and Lombardy. The Museo del Tesoro (Treasury of the Cathedral of San Lorenzo) — beneath the church, in cellars or vaults, it houses numerous sacred objects and relics from the 11th to the 21st centuries. Among the most important artifacts: Sacro Catino — a green crystal or glass bowl/dish, considered for centuries a probable "Grail," mythically associated with the Last Supper. Today, research indicates it is an Islamic/Shiite artifact from the 9th-10th centuries. Gold and silver arks and crosses, including the Zaccaria Cross. Ark of the Relics of St. John the Baptist — the saint's ashes from the Holy Land, donated to Genoa. San Lorenzo is the diocesan cathedral — the main church of the Archdiocese of Genoa. This place is important not only religiously, but also historically and socially. For centuries, the square in front of the cathedral (sagrato) was a place for public gatherings, political events, and urban rituals—it served as the "agora" of the medieval city. During World War II, the cathedral was hit by a bomb (1941). The bomb lodged in the nave, did not explode, and remains a curiosity within the building to this day. The celebration of the feast of St. Lawrence (August 10) is an important day for Genoa. Entrance to the cathedral is free, there is no waiting time, and the cathedral is open every day.
Tomek Q — Google review
Impressive exterior, with the black and white stripes, which also feature inside, but the inside leaves a little to be desired overall. Of course beautiful and intricate in design, but feels slightly unfinished and messy inside. Also got kicked out halfway through for wearing shorts, as many other comments mention. An odd experience overall - the basilica a few minutes walk away was much more impressive inside!

Serravalle Designer Outlet is a popular shopping destination located in Serravalle Scrivia, Italy. First time visited this outlet. It was great shopping experience here. To get here, I took the bus from Largo Cairoli Castello, which takes approximately 1.5 hours with cost 24 euro for roundtrip. It features a wide range of luxury and designer brands, offering discounted prices on high-quality products such as clothing, shoes, accessories, and more. The outlet mall provides a pleasant shopping experience, with modern facilities and a variety of dining options. It's an ideal place for shoppers looking for premium brands at affordable prices. Open daily , from monday to sunday 10 am to 8 pm.

A true melting pot of brands, ranging from luxury labels like Prada, Gucci, and Armani to more accessible names like Nike, Levi’s, and Lindt. If you're looking for a specific item at a reduced price, this is definitely the place to check out. Even without a shopping goal, it's easy to stroll around, enjoy the pedestrian streets, shaded corners, and the pseudo-village atmosphere. Parking is free and convenient, which makes the experience even smoother. Sure, the setting feels a bit artificial, but for a day of shopping or casual wandering, it does the trick.
Big D — Google review
If you’re imagining rows of glamorous boutiques and hidden designer treasures, think again. Serravalle is what happens when someone takes the word *“outlet”* too literally — it’s been drained of stock, charm, and reason to exist. Most stores look like the aftermath of a clearance sale nobody wanted. Celine’s men’s section had maybe twenty sad pieces clinging to hangers for dear life. Dolce & Gabbana? Just the bargain-bin D&G line pretending to be designer. Truly inspiring. And let’s talk about the “discounts.” They’re so tiny you’ll need a microscope to find them. Moncler’s “outlet prices” could double as comedy — same old coats, barely cheaper, just worse lighting. Add in an hour-long drive from Milan, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for regret. Serravalle isn’t a shopping destination — it’s a **masterclass in marketing disappointment**. Unless your idea of fun is overpaying for leftovers while surrounded by tour buses, do yourself a favor: **stay in Milan and shop like a sane person.**
Richard R — Google review
Serravalle Designer Outlet is a fantastic shopping destination – spacious, clean, and very well-organized. It’s easy to get around, accessible, and offers a fun atmosphere for a full day out. The variety of shops is impressive (almost overwhelming – one day isn’t enough to see everything!). There are plenty of options for food and coffee, plus free Wi-Fi which makes the experience even more convenient. Overall, a great place to shop, relax, and enjoy.
Amale H — Google review
