Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Rumah Kelahiran Tun Dr. Mahathir offers a glimpse into the early life of Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, who was born in Alor Setar on December 20, 1925. The museum is well-maintained and free to enter, featuring his birth house, two exhibition halls, and an auditorium with personal belongings and family effects on display.
Free admission. Remember to take your shoe off while entering the house. The Birth House of Tun Dr. Mahathir is a palm wood house located behind an old ice factory. After several restorations, it is now open to the public for free. You can see some historical photos and reports. The two adjacent exhibition halls display items used by Tun Dr.Mahathir and his family. We came on Feb 1 (Federal Public Holiday), there a some local tourists hanging around, and a children keep jumping on the bed which is not allowed....hope those parent with active children can be more alert on this.

Free admission. We went on Sunday and had no visitor there. There are 2 galleries to visit. It is interesting. Both are well maintained, clean, and with air-conditioning. Unfortunately, Dr. Mahathir's house that he was born and grew up was under renovation. We were not able to visit.

Free entry never went in to his house because not feel like going in lol got big parking space and its under Malaysian Archive

The historical facts and memorabilia are on display, Tun’s childhood with stern parenthood and discipline made him what he is today. Put aside his political banters, there are plenty to learnt from this special man.

Free entry!!! 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Birthplace and residence for the most important political figure in modern Malaysian history. This is a very well-maintained house and the whole compound comprises 2 museum buildings, an auditorium, a surau, a public toilet, and a parking lot. The place is well set up and walking in the house is like traveling back in time. Highly recommended. Best is come here during weekdays off peak season. You can take your sweet time to enjoy the whole experience.

Zahir Mosque

Mentioned on

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar is a striking state mosque with impressive Moorish-inspired domes and towering minarets. Built in 1912, it stands out amidst the modern architectural concepts found across Malaysia. The mosque is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, situated near other attractions such as the State Museum and the birth home of Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister.
This was the first place I went to the moment I arrived Alor Setar via train. The mosque, albeit its old age, seems well-maintained. Many of the facilities look brand new. The main prayer hall at the front is air-conditioned. As a tourist, it's nice to the traditional pool for ablution. We don't have that in my country. I also noticed the steps outside that lead visitors to the mosque, which is elevated a bit above ground level. They are designed ingeniously to also house your slippers and sandals underneath. That's something I don't see every day. The mosque is located near an open square that is probably used by the locals for recreation. It is just a stone's throw away from a palace, which currently serves as a museum. A solo traveller like me appreciates the tranquillity that this house of God provides.

Masjid Zahir. Must visit if you are at Alor Setar. Unbelievable view. Oldest mosque in Alor Setar. Older than Mahathir. Mahathir is 100years this year. This mosque is older. Already there before he is born. Great place for picture, for muslim to pray, and others can join for a visit from the centre in the mosque. Best! Make Kedah Great Again! MKGA!

Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar is a stunning piece of history and one of Malaysia’s most beautiful mosques. Its grand architecture, featuring majestic domes and intricate designs, stands as a testament to Kedah’s rich heritage. The mosque’s serene atmosphere makes it a perfect place for reflection and prayer. Well-maintained and spotlessly clean, Masjid Zahir offers a calm and peaceful environment for visitors and worshippers alike. Whether admiring its elegance from the outside or experiencing the tranquility within, it’s a must-visit landmark for those appreciating historical and spiritual beauty.

Masjid Zahir in Alor Setar, Kedah, is not only a prominent symbol of Islamic heritage but also a highly commendable place of worship. Strategically located in the city center, it offers easy access for both locals and tourists. The mosque features a spacious parking area, accommodating a large number of vehicles, which is particularly convenient during Friday prayers or festive events. Its surroundings and interior are exceptionally well-maintained, reflecting a high standard of cleanliness and order. The mosque’s striking architecture—marked by Moorish influence, domes, and graceful minarets—adds to its serene and majestic atmosphere, making it an ideal location not just for prayer but also for spiritual reflection and cultural appreciation.

Masjid Zahir: Architectural Design & Urban Context Architectural Design: The Sacred Geometry of Empire and Eternity Masjid Zahir’s architectural language is a synthesis of Mughal grace, Indo-Saracenic balance, and local Malay sensitivity. Completed in 1912 and designed by the Malayan architect James Gorman, it echoes the grandeur of North Indian mosques while grounding itself in the climate and culture of Kedah. Layout and Form: The mosque follows a centralised layout, with a large main dome crowning the prayer hall. Surrounding this central dome are four smaller domes—one at each corner—creating a balanced five-dome composition. These symbolise the Five Pillars of Islam, uniting form and faith. The qibla wall faces westward toward Mecca, with a mihrab intricately carved and flanked by minarets that both define the skyline and serve aural purposes. Key Architectural Features: Black domes (rare in Southeast Asia) boldly contrast with the stark white stucco walls, creating a high-key, almost mystical aura in the tropical sun. Moorish arches—with horseshoe and ogee profiles—are repeated in arcades, entranceways, and windows, creating rhythm and spatial transparency. Ornate calligraphy and floral arabesques are subtly incorporated, but the mosque maintains a clean elegance, avoiding visual overload. Interior columns are circular and slender, reminiscent of Persian prayer halls but made from imported black marble, giving a sense of both lightness and permanence. It is a building that breathes—the open verandahs and colonnades allow for natural ventilation, a necessity in Kedah’s sultry climate. Urban Setting and Context: A Mosque at the Civic Core Masjid Zahir is not tucked away—it is deliberately placed at the urban centre of Alor Setar, acting as both the religious axis and cultural fulcrum of the city. Civic Integration: It stands at the head of Dataran Alor Setar, opposite the Balai Besar (Grand Audience Hall) and the State Art Gallery—forming a symbolic triangle of spiritual, political, and cultural power. Nearby is the Balai Nobat, where royal musical instruments are kept—tying the mosque to Kedah’s monarchical traditions. This urban triangulation resembles older Islamic cities—Cordoba, Cairo, Isfahan—where the mosque sits not as an isolated place of worship, but as the heart of public life. Street Rhythm & Accessibility: Roads radiate outward from the mosque like spokes on a wheel, guiding both pilgrims and common folk to the spiritual core. Local shops, nasi lemak stalls, goldsmiths, and book vendors encircle the mosque, creating a vibrant Islamic urban village. The river and paddy fields lie not far beyond, offering a liminal shift between sacred geometry and the agrarian landscape that has sustained Kedah for generations. Symbolism in Urban Fabric Masjid Zahir’s prominence is intentional—it was built to be seen, heard, and approached from all sides. In the philosophy of Islamic cities, the mosque should be like the heart in a living body—circulating wisdom, anchoring morality, and radiating communal harmony. Here, it does just that. As you approach from Jalan Langgar or Jalan Pekan Melayu, the domes reveal themselves gradually, like a crescendo in architecture—guiding the eye, then the feet, and finally the spirit. A Closing Reflection “To stand at the gates of Masjid Zahir is to be caught in the stillness of history’s breath. Domes rise like celestial signatures, archways embrace you like an old friend. In this mosque, time seems to pause—where call to prayer meets civic square, and the sacred fuses with the everyday.”

Alor Setar Tower, standing at 165.5 meters, is a prominent landmark in Alor Setar, Kedah, Malaysia. It serves as both a telecommunications tower and a popular tourist destination. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views from the observation deck and dine at the revolving restaurant while exploring the gift shop.
When you are in Alor Setar, this is the one tourist attraction you need to visit. The staff were all friendly and the view from the top is great. They have an area with a glass floor for the brave! It's a little expensive, at 37RM.
Paul A — Google review
The entrance is on the ground floor behind the entrance of the Aman Central Mall. RM 8 for adult and RM4 for kids (Malaysians). It's windy up there so you won't sweat up your shirts. The telescope machine is free to use. Also, you can walk from Alor Setar KTM Station to the mall or Alor Setar Tower but need to cross fews dangerous roads.
Esma Z — Google review
Alor Setar Tower. Pay 8 ringgit. Go upstairs take lift. Enjoy the beautiful scenic view around the city. This is just amazing. Because not many tall towers nearby, so you can view everything! You can see gunung jerai from here. Spend maybe 30mins to 1hour on the covered deck or open deck. Just amazing. Spectacular. Thank you for reading
Hakim M — Google review
Please change the lenses of your telescope. They've turned yellow due to UV exposure and aging... they look terrible, it's really sad. Don't embarrass the name of Kedah in the eyes of tourists. People are paying for the tickets. Please, do something — it's embarrassing.
GHOST — Google review
Nice facility, hope the management can put signage along the corridor and indicate the historical landmarks such as the istana , masjid zahir and others. We enjoyed out time up at the tower.
K S — Google review
Coming from Kuala Lumpur, where KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers dominate the skyline, I didn’t feel the need to head up to the top of Alor Setar Tower. Yet, even without the full tourist experience, the tower left its mark on me. What makes it special is the context: in a small, laid-back town where most buildings are modest in height, this single tower rises confidently, instantly becoming a landmark you can’t miss. Unlike the competition of skyscrapers in KL, Alor Setar Tower stands in striking contrast to its surroundings. That difference gives it a quiet kind of grandeur—less about sheer scale and more about presence. You don’t have to go up to appreciate it; just seeing it dominate the skyline is enough to understand why it’s a point of pride for the city. It’s a reminder that even a lone tower can redefine a town’s character.
Prem K — Google review
Best experience with kids. Staffs are friendly. Just opposite of Aman Central & a walking distance from our hotel. Ticket also cheap.
Aisyah H — Google review
One of the iconic landmarks in Alor Setar that you should visit. To look at Alor Setar city from the birds' eye view gives the historically appreciative and amazing feeling as you can spot combination of new modern buildings, old shop rows, palaces and even spectacular Gunung Keriang can be seen from far. Kedah River snakes around shops and buildings renders the vibes of serenity amidst the bustling time of rush hour. Should you feel that you want for more, you can challenge yourself to walk on the glass plank or to have a dine at a restaurant with amazing view around. For kids, there are other interesting activities that they can try like venturing the basement haunted house (open occasionally), riding in the pool or even playing at the playground. Simple as it may seem this landmark is definitely a place for family to get together or chill in the evening.

Mall is ok. Nothing to comment and absolutely ok. But facilities for ‘Surau’ or Prayer room location direction needs to be upgraded. Around 1 hour we have been searching for the surau location. At first searching for 5F, then GF, end up asked the counter says need to go to 5F again but still couldn’t manage to find until we asked the random people. Total hours of finding is almost 2 hours!!! Then after reaching, the surau was full of people. Haha. What a day🥲 Really disappointed with the direction of the surau. Management please take note on this. Much appreciated.

History Museums
The Kedah State Museum, formerly known as the Kedah History Museum, is a must-visit destination for those seeking to learn about the rich history of Kedah, Malaysia. Established in 1957 and later relocated and renamed, this compact museum houses a diverse collection of manuscripts, textiles, and other artifacts that showcase the city's history. The museum's popularity led to funding for a new venue in 1997 to better exhibit its collections.
A lot of displays both indoor and outdoor too. Greeted by security officers to fill attendance record and had pictures taken for gifts sold when exiting. Its free and air-conditioning. A lot of displays here covering 3 levels I believed. Very informative. Cannot take pictures inside.

1. The Kedah State Museum showcases the long history and rich cultural heritage of Kedah. The exhibition is very detailed, and everything from ancient artifacts to traditional crafts is impressive. By visiting, you can gain an in-depth understanding of the past and culture of Kedah, which is a rare experience for history and culture enthusiasts. 2. However, taking photos is not allowed in the museum, which is a pity for those who like to use cameras to record travel memories. Therefore, although it is a bit regrettable, the overall experience of visiting the museum is still worth it, especially if you are interested in the history and culture of Kedah

The Paddy Museum in Kedah is a unique attraction dedicated to the world's staple food, rice. It features exhibits on rice cultivation, agriculture-focused paintings, and a panorama of villages and paddy fields. The museum is designed to symbolize bushels of harvested rice stalks and is one of the few rice museums in the world.
Great experience! 360 mural rotating floor worth every penny and the space is spacious. Drawing is spectacular! Some improvement; needs to add more information related to paddy and also video to explain about paddy.
Muhammad N — Google review
This museum is nice but not friendly to elderly people and OKU. I bring my 70ish old grandma to this museum since she hasn't visited this place since her early days. When you arrive, you need to climb very high stairs in order to reach the front door of the museum. No lift for elderly, no concrete slabs for wheelchair users or strollers. Even when you get in, there's stairs everywhere. There's one lift but it is only connected to the ground floor (this museum has 3 floors), which is connected to the souvenirs site or artifact display. The lift can only fit 3 people at a time. Those handicap groups can't reach the 3rd floor, which is the most important floor in the museum. In my first picture, it was the stairs leading to the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor is the moving platform that showcases 360° painting of paddy fields. Again just to remind you, my grandma is very old and has a pretty bad eyesight. The stairs leading up were very dark, I even need to use my flashlight to shine the pathway so that my grandma won't trip. The stairs are also very high. It took us minutes to arrive there, and we're very sorry for the people behind us. Also another thing that I am wondering...why there's only 1 exit even though there's a lot of doors leading outside from the museum?? And the exit is the most far away from the parking lot??? The exit that they opened was the exit to the toilet, which is at the BACK of the museum. We need to walk under the scorching sun (you know how hot the weather here is) for minutes to get to the parking lot, which is IN FRONT of the museum. You can just open 2 exit doors, one leading to the toilet and another to the parking lot?? It's not that hard. Mind you, I bring my GRANDMA here because she really loves this place and she wants to go here when she still can walk. But the service and conditions of this place makes the experience so lame. I hope you guys do something about this. At least put an escalator or something so that all people from all walks of life could use it, including disabled people. Museum should be accessible to everyone, not for youngsters or healthy person. Thank you for coming to my TED talk:D
Auni A — Google review
The building looks great… Entrance is affordable. Not disable friendly… from main entrance to the top floor point of interest, no lift… Some rice infomation that you can easily find online… The top floor need to climb up 3 floors of stairs then you find a rotate platforms surround by static pictures, with bad and stuffy AC… Seriously tons of potentials wasted… instead of static picture, u can either use image projection, or the roof should be 360 degree of glasses so you can have the view of the real paddy fields?! Some of the showroom is dusty stuffy and no AC. There are toilet in the building, but only for working staffsthat get paid monthly salary… Visitors that paid for ticket have to get out of the main building to a toilet hut that is not shaded walk path mean you will be under rain/sun… Might as well just get to the real paddy field to get the real feel and take picture…
Pang J — Google review
We rushed there before their lunch break and had only 30 minutes but enough to walk finished all the exhibits. I misread someone else’s comment. I thought on the top of the museum can get a 360 panoramic view of its surrounding but it turned out to be a 360 degree mural instead. It’s not too bad but I think a real view of the surrounding ( paddy fields and Mt Kerniang) would even be more astounding! I thought designers might have considered the paddy fields ain’t be going to stay so colorful and nice whole year round.
Buck L — Google review
The top view is beautiful. You just have to sit and the seats move 360 degrees to see the whole view.

A very nice place to come and enjoy Northern Malaysian delicacies. The special thing here is that you can enjoy your food in the middle of a "ladang nipah" (nipa palm farm). The place is peaceful, fresh and quite clean too. The food is delicious, but the price is relatively steep if compared to other places. We reached there around 5pm. Rice sets finished. My opinion, the Nira water and Laichikang is too sweet. I ordered Nasi pulut ayam and the pulut is dry and hard a bit which makes it difficult to eat. Laksa and bihun soup taste okay. Crowded and you can find more parking inside. Overall okay.
Kayattiri A — Google review
This place is located quite a ways off the beaten track and can be hard to find if you are new. The air nira drink has a unique taste and the nasi daging is delicious. There is a lot of seats available, and most of them are amply shaded. Because of the location of the seating amidst the plants, there are a lot of insects flying about. There is free parking at the entrance, but if busy, it can be hard to navigate.

A bit crowded place if you go on weekends. Nice place to experience. Eating place at the Nipah's farm. The juice a little bit cooling with unique taste and smell. not bad for the experience and price. Food just average taste. Just try glutinous rice with prawn filling (pulut udang). Taste good for me. 😊

Nothing special to me about this place except the ambiance is nice. Even the surrounding is so greeny. Lot of options to choose from and coming from Klang Valley myself, I think the price is very reasonable. Would i come again ? Definitely. Need to try other menu as the "Mee Rebus Udang" I tried today is so bishe² !. Hehehhehe

The mosque smells very nice, they always keep it clean. You’ll be accompanied by the sound of waves splashing while you pray. However, you may notice some rubbish on the sand outside the mosque, likely from people littering.

Floating mosque near Kuala Perlis Jetty. A good spot to watch sunset.the minaret is unique and interior of the prayer hall is spacious for visitors to pray.

Alhamdulillah, Masya Allah… this is such a beautiful mosque by the sea, near the Kuala Perlis Jetty. We came for solat Maghrib & Isyak prayers here. Incidentally there was a full moon, that a gave a beautiful glow to this already beautiful mosque. Grateful for the opportunity to be here.
Rahmah R — Google review
If you ever find yourself in Kuala Perlis, Al Hussain Mosque, famously known as Masjid Terapung Perlis (The Floating Mosque), is truly a must-visit. It’s not just a place of worship — it’s a peaceful sanctuary surrounded by the beauty of the sea. The sound of the waves gently hitting the rocks creates a calming and tranquil atmosphere, especially during prayer time. It’s one of those places where you can really feel peace in your heart. I came here for Friday prayer, and it was a beautiful experience. The mosque also provides a comfortable space for women to join Friday prayers, which is great. The Islamic architecture is stunning — simple yet elegant, perfectly blending with the ocean view. Inside, the air feels fresh and clean, with a pleasant fragrance that adds to the sense of calm. The sound system is clear, the air conditioning works well, and everything is neatly maintained. The wuduk and toilet areas are clean and well-kept, showing how much care is given to keeping this place comfortable for everyone. The surrounding view is breathtaking. You can even see ferries and RORO boats heading to Langkawi from the nearby Kuala Perlis Jetty. It’s a serene and picturesque setting that makes it a perfect stop for travelers to perform Jamak and Qasar prayers. After prayer, you can take a short walk to Laman Kopi Café, located nearby, for a relaxing cup of coffee while enjoying the sea breeze. It’s the perfect way to end a peaceful visit to the mosque. Con: Parking can be a bit challenging during prayer times, especially Fridays, as the space is quite limited. But with a little patience, it’s worth every moment spent here. A truly peaceful and spiritual spot by the sea — Al Hussain Mosque is an unforgettable experience.
Asyraf A — Google review
Masjid Al-Hussain in Kuala Perlis is truly a remarkable mosque that stands out not only for its strategic location near the ferry terminal but also for its architectural elegance and spiritual ambiance. The mosque is exceptionally clean, beautifully maintained, and offers a serene environment for worshippers and visitors alike. The interior design is breathtaking, featuring a grand mihrab, a beautifully crafted pulpit (mimbar), and an exquisite dome adorned with intricate Arabic calligraphy and multi-lingual inscriptions. The dome, with its combination of blue, white, and gold patterns, creates a sense of awe and reverence. What makes this mosque even more special is its inclusive spirit welcoming travelers and locals with accessible facilities and a peaceful space for reflection and prayer. It is fully air conditioned, well lit, and provides clear signage in both Arabic and Malay, with some translations in English and other languages highlighting its global and multicultural vision. Masjid Al-Hussain is not just a place of worship, but also a symbol of Islamic artistry and hospitality. It is an ideal stop for spiritual rest before or after a ferry journey. I highly recommend visiting this mosque if you are in Kuala Perlis it’s a true gem of Islamic architecture and devotion.

Kota Kayang Museum

Local history museum

Specialty Museums
Local history & archaeology exhibits are showcased in a traditional building on landscaped grounds.
A place of historical significance. Gathered a lot of useful knowledge from the exhibits and sites. Interesting. Well kept and maintained. Nice to walk around, the pathways, the pond (you could feed the fish), the cave, the well, etc. Clean toilets. Friendly and helpful staff. Ample parking, even for buses.
Zulkifli G — Google review
Free entrance, we just need to register at guard house. The guards here were friendly and helpful. A lot of information and history on Perlis learn from this visit. Not to forget the nature surrounding this museum. This museum may need to update on the exhibition and make them more interactive.
Nooraishah S — Google review
It is a great place to visit combining nature and history. The sun was hot but the hills provided shade, the kids were too spooked to explore the caves. They don’t charge entrance fees and I learned quite a bit that I did not learn in school about Perlis.

A small but quaint museum for everyone to enjoy. Entrance is free. The grounds are very well taken care of. One would love taking pics of the surrounding limestone hills.

Nice place fur kids to interact with the snake and reptiles. can take photos & Play around with snake. still having major upgrading, hope better Condition later.

Entrance fee RM10 for adult and RM5 for children. Parking space provided no charge. Toilet available inside, not clean and not maintained. A lot of cages are under maintenence and doesn't have any reptile. The facilities also look worn out, not well maintained. Animal available are snakes, crocodile (only one), ostrich, hamsters, rabbit,Iguana, peacock and etc. Zoo petting section is available, children can play with hamster and rabbit.
Shanta S — Google review
At the time of visit, there was still undergoing renovation work being carried out. Adult (13 - 59 years old) ticket fee at RM10 per person. Animal food can be purchased right after the entrance. Fish pellets at RM2 per pack. Green beans and carrot sticks at RM3 per pack. Besides snakes, other various animals like crocodile, ostrich, deer, iguana and Asian palm civet can be seen at the park. The most exciting activity was feeding the supercute and manja pygmy goats, rabbits and tortoises at the animal petting zone.

Second visit after 7 years. Very surprised with the great changes. Everything anew (might be the same crocodiles by the way). Noticed new facilities (some not yet running), new animals line-up and even cat shelter. You can opt for some animal snacks to pet them, play with some pythons, rabbits, or even buy home some of the rodents. Expecting more to come for my next visit!

Tasik Melati Recreational Park

Park
Nature & Parks
Small park featuring kids' playground equipment, walking/jogging trails & nearby ponds.
We kicked off our journey in Perlis with a visit to Taman Tasik Melati, a surprisingly beautiful and peaceful local park. Plenty of parking and well-maintained by the local government. The ponds, though a bit murky, are dotted with lotus plants, creating a lovely view. Even spotted a huge snakehead fish hiding under dried leaves. It isvery tempting for anglers, though fishing isn’t allowed. Spent about half an hour strolling around, simply admiring the charm and tranquility of the place
Azrul Z — Google review
Beautiful blue lake with walking path along for walking and jogging. Playground available for children to play. They are many small part of different theme park inside here, one had mushroom and elephant statue. However, the place is not well maintained. The grass are super tall, rubbish thrown everywhere, tons of mosquito at certain places. That's the sad part.
Shanta S — Google review
Very good place for recreational activity. The only thing is sstill need to consistently do the maintenance.

Tammalang Pier is a well-maintained and efficient pier that offers first-class immigration services. It provides easy and safe boat tie-up for skippers, with the Immigration and Harbour Master located nearby. The ferry terminal facilitates transfers between Langkawi, Satun, Pak Bara, Ko Lipe, Hatyai, and other destinations. Visitors can also exchange currency at favorable rates and receive assistance for their onward journeys.
Very well maintain pier. This pier provide food and beverages. In the pier they have a few local travel agent that can help you around Thailand. (Ticket, location ,prices ect) We went to Satun Experience Tour( travel agent) Mr sudin. He help us all along and help us to plan the trip.. cheers

This is indeed a very well maintained and run pier. The immigration service here is first class. The money changer has become a trusted friend after coming in and out now for over 10 years. As a skipper, Clearing In n Out here is great as I can tie up my boat here at this pier easily n safely. Immigration n Harbour Master are next to each other n Customs is 1.5km down the road. Better still, return to ur boat n move it to tie up at the Customs pier a few hundred metres along.

Sharifah I — Google review
Worth a quick stop. Lovely drive in with magnificent mangroves lining both sides of the road, a quiet pier for sea views and fishing, and a giant crab statue for photos. There’s a small museum about the area. Expect more people on holidays. Note: many stray dogs and monkeys—generally calm but be cautious.

Easy and relaxed experience getting ferry to Langkawi. Ticket was 450bt each and apart from festival times you have no problem buying a ticket here on the day. Also you can fill in your MDAC here on the day. Ferry time was 11.30 for me. While waiting it's well worth taking a walk in the mangrove forest. It's next to the port. Friendly monkeys 🐒 there too!
Carl M — Google review
Ferry leaves at different times according to the tides. Today’s ferry was supposed to leave at 1.30pm but the boat didn’t depart until 2.20pm. Waiting for it to leave was like waiting for a boil to burst. Even when the boat was fully loaded it loitered around for ages for some unknown reason. There is only one daily crossing to Langkawi, and the timetable is a work of fiction. The terminal itself is quite pleasant comprising of small convenience stores, snack bars and travel agent touts. The currency exchange office is good. Rates are as good as anywhere in Hat Yai. Arrivals should ignore the hawkers and get the orange songtaews, that wait outside the terminal, into Satun, or to the bus station for onward journeys. The van service that operates from the terminal costs three times more. Refer to photo. For example van fare to Hat Yai from Satun bus station is 100 baht. Service runs hourly throughout the day.
UbiQ — Google review
Ferry terminal transfer between Langkawi and Satun. Also here you can transit to Pak Bara then to Ko Lipe, and Hatyai, also some other nearby destination. If you going to Ko Lipe transit through Tammalang, you can change money from here, you get better rate from here compare to Ko Lipe. There also have some agency could assist you with your next destination. Immigration staff here are nice, first time i saw with smiling face.

We drove from Hatyai to this attraction which is about 1 hr away, the place is quite near to Thailand and Malaysia border, so can expect many tourists. We saw google map putting 9am as the opening hour, when we reached there at 9+, they told us 10am then the attraction is open. We waited and car is not allowed to access and need to be park at the entrance. There is a free tram service to transport people in and out. We bought the ticket to access all attractions, however it is not really recommended. Most of the attractions are a waste of time and it is not open until late afternoon. When we are there early morning, most of the shops are still close. We have visited a few such as dinosaur park, animal land, cowboy town etc. Those who visit please do not buy the tickets, just take some photos in this place will do, not recommended to visit though.

Satun National Museum Kuden Mansion

Mentioned on

Museum
History Museums
Satun National Museum, also known as Kuden Mansion, is a historical site located on Satun Thani Road. The museum is housed in a Colonial-European architectural style building and is open from Wednesday to Sunday. It offers an interesting insight into the history of the town and its people, particularly the Malay community. The museum showcases artifacts and exhibits that depict the local culture, food, and lifestyle from bygone eras.
Construction was started in 1898 and completed in 1916 by Phraya Phumnatphakdi or Tunku Baharutdin Bin Tammahong (formerly Kuden Binkumae), the ruler of Satun, during the reign of King Rama V. The mansion was intended to be a royal residence during a royal visit of King Rama V to the South. However, the king did not stay overnight here. The building was later used as an official residence and as the Satun Town Hall. Until WWII in around 1941, the building was occupied by Japanese soldiers as their command unit. It was also used as the Satun City Hall and other important official places. During 1997–2000, the Fine Arts Department renovated the Kuden Mansion into a western two-storey brick building. Curved doors and windows are in the European architectural style of art. Its Thai-styled hip-roof is covered with Spanish terra cotta roof tiles. Window panels consist of wooden shutters. The top of the pediment is adorned with a star-shaped vent in accordance with Islamic architecture. Inside, there are displays of history of Satun town and ways of life of the people of Satun, such as the sea dwellers of Ko Lipe, pot making, a room of the ruler of Satun’s residence, a room of the Thai Muslim culture depicting arts, culture, traditions, local lifestyles, etc. The museum is open on Wednesdays to Sundays from 9.00 a.m.–4.00 p.m. It is closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, and public holidays.
Kullaphut S — Google review
The fee to enter this museum is 50baht per adult. Not sure about the kids. Good thing was, we went for three person but they gave discount so one person didn’t have to pay. Thank you for that!🫶🏻 but to me it was kinda pricey because it was just a small museum and not really well maintained😭 But overall the museum was kinda dusty. Me and my friends were sneezing throughout the visit😭🤣 Not recommended for people with allergies to dust. And we were so sweaty during the visit because the aircond was down and the upper storey was so hot. The explanations were in audio format but it wasn’t so clear due to the sound quality. But you can still look around. I mean it’s not that bad. Minimal written explanations can be seen. So yeah. Just “look” around literally😅 It was 4/10 for overall experience. If you have nowhere else to go you can visit here…. But if you have other plan, maybe just forget your plan to visit herr🥹🫠 I wish they would improve the cleanliness and ventilation at the museum. There are public toilets beside the main building and they were clean! 4/5 for toilet! Wheelchair friendly toilet is available too. Parking provided beside the main building. You can also buy some souvenirs outside of the museum. Oh but the exterior was well maintained for an old building. You can take pictures outside :)

Interesting historical remains, especially the Malay people. Ku Din Ku Meh (from Amir Azahari Al-Saadi in Facebook) Ku Din Ku Meh was born in 1848 at Anak Bukit. At age 14, he worked as a Prison Warder for Kedah. He was fluent in Malay and Thai. He wrote many books on law circa 1894. His wrote in Jawi. Ton Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary is a stunning natural retreat nestled in the forested mountains of Southern Thailand, renowned for its breathtaking waterfall. This sanctuary offers visitors a refreshing escape from urban life, with opportunities to hike along various trails that cater to different skill levels. Each trail leads to picturesque waterfalls where you can take a dip and enjoy the serene surroundings. The area is also perfect for picnics, allowing you to soak up nature while enjoying delicious food amidst beautiful scenery.
Unspoiled nature so close to Hat Yai city. Virgin forest with 5km nature trail looping alongside the waterfall. The waterfall itself is amazing too. Be warned there are leeches in water upstream in waterfall section 3 and above. Ask me how I know.

Huge area, there are 7 levels waterfall, but we only manage to go up(hiking) to 3rd one. Overall very nice waterfall. Alot of fishes at the first one. Good for family picnic.. Recommended for nature lover! Worth to visit..

Place was gorgeous and peaceful. Hubs and i came early to avoid the crowd but we were the 3rd group there before 10am. There's no proper place/seating to put your bags down and toilet is unfortunately quite far. Its at the carpark area before you make your way in the waterfall. If possible, please don't bring actual food(eg rice dishes) except biscuits, cause can feed the fishes. There's a lot. If have to bring food, please bring a plastic bag to throw your trash away outside of the area. Littering at a gorgeous place is criminal. Other reviews of the catfish are true, so please wear leggings/long pants if you have sensory issues or don't want to get a scar from the catfish sucking (which my hubs kena)

🌿 A Must-Visit Natural Gem – Ton Nga Chang Waterfall, Songkhla, Thailand 🌿 If you’re a nature lover or someone looking to reconnect with the outdoors, Ton Nga Chang Waterfall is an unforgettable destination that deserves a spot on your itinerary. Nestled deep within the Ton Nga Chang Wildlife Sanctuary in Hat Yai district, this majestic multi-tiered waterfall is one of Southern Thailand’s most breathtaking natural wonders. From the moment we entered the protected park area, we were greeted by lush greenery, fresh mountain air, and the serene sound of cascading water in the distance. The waterfall itself is divided into seven levels, each with its own unique charm and viewpoint. The most famous is the third tier, known as “Ton Nga Chang”, or “Elephant Tusk Falls,” where the water splits into two powerful streams, resembling the tusks of an elephant—truly a sight to behold! The trail leading to the upper levels is moderately challenging, offering a bit of adventure for hikers and nature enthusiasts. It’s well-maintained but natural, so wearing proper shoes is a must. Along the way, you’ll pass large boulders, shaded jungle paths, and small pools where visitors can rest or take a refreshing dip. It’s easy to lose track of time while enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views. 📸 Highlights: • Crystal-clear freshwater streams perfect for dipping your feet or swimming • Excellent photo spots at almost every level • Great for picnics, but do bring your own trash bag • Family-friendly up to level 2 or 3; more adventurous hiking beyond that • Wildlife sightings: butterflies, birds, and even monkeys if you’re lucky! 🛑 A Gentle Reminder to All Visitors: With increasing popularity, it’s more important than ever to protect and preserve this natural treasure. Please do not leave trash behind—bring your waste down with you and use the bins provided. Avoid using soap or shampoo in the streams, as they pollute the water and harm aquatic life. And please, never feed wild animals, as it disrupts their natural behavior and diet. 💚 Let’s all do our part to respect the beauty of nature so that future generations can enjoy it just as we have. The waterfall is clean, vibrant, and full of life—let’s keep it that way. 🌏 Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photos, and keep nature as you found it.

Tong Nga Chang Waterfalls is truly one of the crown jewels of Thailand's natural beauty. Nestled in the lush green surroundings of Songkhla Province, this breathtaking cascade offers a stunning display of nature that captivates the senses and provides a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. One of the most remarkable features of Tong Nga Chang Waterfalls is its multi-tiered structure, creating a series of cascading pools that invite visitors to explore and enjoy. The sound of water flowing over rocks is both soothing and invigorating, making it a perfect retreat for anyone seeking a refreshing escape from the everyday grind. The clear water, surrounded by lush vegetation, is simply picturesque, providing ample opportunities for photography and reflection. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the waterfalls serve as an excellent destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking, trekking, and discovering the local wildlife. The well-maintained trails make it accessible for families, while the more adventurous can venture further into the surrounding national park. It not only offers a visual feast but also fosters a connection with the environment, urging visitors to appreciate and preserve the beauty of our planet. Tong Nga Chang Waterfalls charm lies in its ability to uplift the spirit and rejuvenate the soul, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.

ASEAN Night Bazaar Hatyai

ASEAN Night Bazaar Hatyai is a bustling covered market that attracts both locals and tourists, offering a wide array of clothing, souvenirs, and classic Thai dishes. Spread over two floors, this night market is particularly popular among Muslim travelers. The ground floor features stalls selling affordable clothes, shoes, watches, and beauty products like facial masks with samples for testing. While prices may be higher compared to other markets in the area, visitors can still try their hand at bargaining.
This place have lots stalls selling garments, parking lots are plenty, but due to the crowd, parking lots are quite hard to find. There is a small food court on top of the place, offer some local food with reasonable price. But i strongly recommend the organizer make some improvement on ventilation of the market as it is so hot in there.

Variety of items and food for tourists. Located very close to Greenway market so you can enjoy shopping at the 2 places next to each other. Note that it's open in the evening and closed on Monday so check carefully before coming.

Food - 5 stars. Cin Cao drink is soooo good & refreshing although it's milky? The tom yum from the yellow shop is the best tom yum we've had thus far (from a night market standard). The kerabu kaki ayam from the red shop is also good & the auntie who makes it is super sweet as well. Price wise - Very reasonable. Souvenir - Souvenir prices here are ok. It's not very cheap but not that expensive either. Recommended for the keychains / shirts / fridge magnets / typical souvenir with Hatyai or Thailand stamped on it hahah But for the inhalers (brand names), I think u can find cheaper elsewhere? For example I got 2 inhalers for 150B but I could get 6 for 180B from 7E. Clothes - The pricing here is a hit or miss. I would say it's kind of pricey for an okay-ish quality garments? But they are pretty generous with the discounts if you seem interested browsing their items haha Payment Method - For the food I think all places accept cash & QR. But for the clothes, some of them only accept cash although most of them accept QR payments. No card payments here.

Masya Allah, Subhanallah… you will be spoiled for choice here, as there are so many things that can be bought as long as you have the money.☺️ There are a lot of choices to choose from, some good quality and some not, so be careful and inspect thoroughly the stuff that you want to buy. Price is reasonable, but if you’re good at bargaining perhaps you can get a good price. The food upstairs is also great, many to choose from, so much so you don’t know what to choose, cos’ one can only eat as much. ☺️ Food is mostly halal. The place gets very crowded on weekends. So please be careful and take care of your handbags and wallets. Also make sure the small children are safe and closely guarded under watchful eyes. Happy shopping and enjoy the food too.

Many clothes and medicine selling with avarage same price, got food at upstairs and ground floor but difficult to find empty spaces, all full.. Suggest find place and reserved by our member 1st then others can one by one buy, food just nearest. Many tuk tuk waiting outside the market, better bargain, sometimes some of them put highly prices, better go by group its more cheaper.

ASEAN Night Bazaar in Hatyai is one of the more popular night markets in the city, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for a lively evening activity. I visited the market after dinner and had a great time walking around and exploring the variety of stalls. The environment here is well organized, with stalls neatly arranged, making it easy to navigate even when the crowd gets larger. Compared to some other night markets that can feel messy or overwhelming, ASEAN Night Bazaar is more structured, which makes the shopping experience smoother and more enjoyable. There are plenty of stalls offering a wide range of products, from clothing, shoes, and accessories to souvenirs and small household items. If you enjoy browsing for fashion or picking up a few affordable items, this market is a good place to do so. The prices are reasonable, and with a little bargaining, you can often get even better deals. Of course, no night market visit is complete without trying some food. Although I had already eaten dinner, I noticed that there were many food stalls offering different types of dishes. What’s nice is that the food here is Muslim-friendly, making it an excellent choice for Malay friends or anyone looking for halal options. Portions match the price, and from what I tried, the taste was not bad at all — simple, flavorful, and satisfying for street food. Overall, ASEAN Night Bazaar is a great place to spend an evening in Hatyai. Even if you don’t plan to shop a lot, it’s fun just to walk around, soak in the atmosphere, and maybe enjoy a few snacks. If you’re traveling with friends or family, especially Malay friends, this is a highly recommended spot for shopping and food in a Muslim-friendly environment.

Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai)

Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai) is a remarkable open-air temple in Hat Yai, featuring one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in the world. The 35-meter long statue, crafted in the 1970s, is a sight to behold as you enter the temple grounds. It's a peaceful attraction amidst the bustling city and is popular among multi-generation families. You may also encounter school children paying their respects in their uniforms during afternoon visits.
Wat Ha Ya Nai is a small but remarkable temple, mainly known for its giant reclining Buddha statue. The sheer size of the statue is impressive and makes for great photo opportunities. The temple grounds are peaceful, and the visit was quick—less than 15 minutes was enough for taking pictures and offering prayers. It’s a nice stop if you’re in the area, especially if you appreciate Buddhist architecture and cultural sites. While not a large temple complex, its highlight is definitely worth a short visit.
NextHorizon W — Google review
Every Buddhist Temple has a history of it's own and is often rich in the architecture as seen in the construction of the temple. There is a huge sleeping Buddha which was constructed in the temple grounds. Peaceful and serene surroundings even to the beings in the animal kingdom. Entrance / parking is free as in most temples and maintenance of the temples may come from your contributions regardless of currency. If you wish to go the extra mile, try offering Dana (robes, requisites, cooked food etc).

This is said to be the third largest reclining Buddha in all of Thailand — it’s truly magnificent! If you’ve never been here, I would definitely recommend a visit. There’s also an entrance at the back where you can pay respects to various deities. One of the staff aunties even speaks Chinese and was very friendly. I’d absolutely recommend this place to everyone!

Wat Hatyai Nai (Hat Yai Yue Temple), also known as the Hatyai Reclining Buddha Temple, is one of the most famous Buddhist temples in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province, Thailand. It is renowned for its colossal reclining Buddha statue, Phra Phuttha Mahathamongkhon, which measures 35 meters and is considered the third largest reclining Buddha in the world. The temple's architecture blends traditional and modern Thai elements, and its interior is exquisitely decorated with murals depicting stories from the Buddha's life and teachings, offering visitors a tranquil atmosphere for meditation and contemplation.
Jony — Google review
I visited Mahattamangkalaram Temple, also known as Wat Hat Yai Nai, during my trip to Hatyai, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable stops of my journey. This temple is home to one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand, measuring about 35 meters long and 15 meters high. Seeing it in person was truly breathtaking — photos don’t do justice to its size and presence. The environment here is very quiet and peaceful, which made the visit even more special. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down, take a deep breath, and just enjoy the calm surroundings. The reclining Buddha is housed under a huge pavilion, and there is even a prayer area inside the base of the statue where visitors can pay their respects or take a moment for reflection. It felt meaningful to step inside and experience this side of Thai Buddhist culture. I also found it interesting that the temple is located right next to a local school and a wet market. While walking around, I could hear the sounds of daily life — children playing at school, vendors chatting at the market — which gave the whole place a unique charm. It feels very connected to the local community rather than just being a tourist attraction. I learned that this reclining Buddha was built in the early 1970s and was later officially named by King Rama IX. Once a year during Songkran, locals gather here to apply gold leaf to the heart of the Buddha, which is considered very auspicious. Overall, I highly recommend visiting Mahattamangkalaram Temple if you are in Hatyai. It’s free to enter, easy to reach, and offers a peaceful atmosphere plus a chance to see one of Thailand’s largest reclining Buddhas up close. A beautiful and meaningful stop on any Hatyai itinerary.

Visited Mahattamangkalaram Temple (Wat Hat Yai Nai) during our trip. The temple holds cultural significance and is known for housing one of the largest reclining Buddha statues in Thailand. However, there's not much else to do around the area. The temple’s exterior and paintings appear faded and could benefit from some maintenance and restoration to preserve its beauty. The visit can be completed in about 30 minutes. It’s an okay spot for a quick cultural stop, especially if you haven’t been before. Suitable for a one-time visit to appreciate its historical and spiritual value.

Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel Hat Yai is a well-established hotel that offers straightforward accommodations with views of the lake. It features dining options and a rooftop pool for guests to enjoy. Situated in close proximity to popular attractions like Kim Yong and Santisuk Markets, this 33-storey hotel is a favorite among locals and is often chosen for special events such as weddings and graduations. Additionally, the hotel provides VAT refund services for added convenience during your stay in Hat Yai.
The room was clean and the fixtures were in good condition. The air con was very powerful. Security was tight enough that some officials had their meeting or function there one of the nights. The hotel's location is very good. There is the Lee Gardens Plaza night market and there are many other eateries and shops in the vicinity.

Wonderful five-star hotel in the main city centre of Hatyai. I love staying here; however, it’s always fully booked. If there were an option for early booking with pay-later, it would be much better.

A hotel that is literally in the middle of the Hatyai night street. Rooms are decent with a great view!! Comes with a basic swimming pool and surprisingly, a large n well equipped gym! Sheltered n secured parking and good for motorcyclists! Would not recommend to have the breakfast (250 baht) at the hotel as hatyai had a lot to offer within a 1km radius!
Jerrick L — Google review
Second time here. Room amenities are below basic. No toothbrush, slippers, shaver. Gave instant coffee sachets but not tea bags. Not sure why... Clothes hang on iron shelve and not a proper wardrobe with doors. What's Good - Location, Clean sheets and wood panel flooring inside. What's Disappointed - Shower partition half is missing so water splashed out to the dry 'powder room' area and made it so wet. Missing amenities. Furniture in the room is only one coffee table and one chair. Lastly is the need to change lifts to get from ground floor entrance to the rooms, as everyone has to interchange lifts at level 10.

The hotel location is very good, just located at the central of Hatyai Town Centre. The room I stayed in was a little bit old, but overall, bathroom and the bed were okay. The hotel provided breakfast at 10th floor, and quite a yummy breakfast. The ground floor of the hotel is the happening Night Market and there are many types of local mouth watering food.

Kim Yong Market is a bustling and no-nonsense marketplace in Hat Yai, Thailand. It offers a wide variety of goods, including imported snacks, dried fruits, souvenirs, fresh produce, seafood, and street food. The market is known for its vibrant atmosphere and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to explore the diverse range of products available. Additionally, it's located near several dining options where visitors can enjoy delicious Malaysian and Southern Thai cuisine after their shopping spree at the market.
My first time visiting this local market in Hat Yai and I am also a first time visitor to Hat Yai. It was certainly a worthwhile adventure for me seeing the roadside stalls selling flowers, fresh produce and meats etcetera, and seeing the same mix of stalls in the New Kimyong Market or Kim Yong Marketplace two-level building - where the upper flow hosts stalls selling clothes and electrical and electronic products. That said, I prefer window shopping at the roadside of Kim Yong as the corridors in the two-level building were very poorly ventilated. I highly recommend a visit here if you are visiting Hat Yai.

Medium-sized local market that sells a wide variety of items. The first floor where tourists usually visit are filled with stalls that sells nuts and other dried foods. I recommend to visit their second floor too, they have a wider range of stores from electronics to antiques. Otherwise the market doesn't offer too much to see, a short visit will suffice.
Yuhng Y — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of the most famous markets in Hatyai, so I decided to check it out during my trip. It’s definitely a place full of energy, but I have to admit my experience here was quite mixed. The market itself is very busy, with narrow lanes packed with stalls selling everything from local snacks, dried fruits, nuts, clothes, accessories, and more. The environment feels a bit cramped, especially when it gets crowded, so be prepared to squeeze through the lanes and move along with the flow of people. The prices here are reasonable, but not necessarily the cheapest. If you enjoy bargaining, this is the place to practice your negotiation skills — you can usually get a better deal if you ask politely. One thing that stood out to me was the attitude of the stall owners and staff. Many of them are very aggressive in trying to get your attention. Some will call out to you repeatedly, encourage you to taste their nuts or snacks, and push for a sale. While I appreciated the friendliness of a few stall owners who stayed cheerful even when I didn’t buy anything, there were also some who showed a “black face” or looked unhappy when I didn’t purchase after trying. This made the experience a little uncomfortable at times. Overall, I would say Kim Yong Market is worth a quick visit if you are nearby and want to see what a busy local market feels like, but it may not be everyone’s cup of tea. The experience is moderate — interesting to walk through once, but I wouldn’t call it a must-visit. If you go, just be prepared for the crowds, the pushy sales tactics, and take your time to explore and bargain politely for the best experience.
Zen Y — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of those places you have to visit when in Hatyai! It’s lively, colorful, and full of local goodies. One of the must-tries here is Kaitod Meena — their fried chicken is super crispy and flavorful! But be prepared to queue because it’s really popular. There’s no proper place to sit and eat, so it’s best to take away and enjoy your food somewhere nearby. Aside from food, the market also sells a wide variety of nuts, dried fruits, and snacks — perfect for souvenirs or munching on while exploring. Overall, a fun and authentic local market experience — crowded but worth every minute!
Nadira F — Google review
Kim Yong Market is one of the main attractions in Hatyai. It is named after the wealthy original landowner. In the building, there are many stalls selling all kinds of nuts, dried fruits, sweets, tidbits, clothes, souvenirs, etc. The road beside the market is an interesting place to visit in the morning, from 6.00am to about 11.00am. Makeshift stalls, pushcarts and small eating shops line the whole length of the road. Fresh flowers, vegetables, fruits, local breakfast foods including noodles, rice, dumplings, cakes and desserts are sold. It is a place not to miss in Hatyai.
CS C — Google review
Morning fresh market outside is good for strolling to observe the locals' way of life, food and culture. Plenty of fruits, snacks and variety of local dishes eg. Malay, halal, Thai, Chinese. If you ride the train and get out from the station, the market is only 15 minutes walk away. Note that many sellers speak Malay, Thai, Chinese, reflecting how diverse the locals and visitors are. Also not too far apart are Santisuk and Lee Gardens markets but they are not open at the same timing so check first before coming.

Phra Maha Chedi Tripob Trimongkol, also known as the Stainless Steel Temple & Pagoda, is a striking Buddhist temple made entirely of stainless steel. The pagoda features a unique contemporary design with stainless steel rings and is adorned with statues and murals depicting tales of Buddha. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil sound of wind chimes on the upper level. Accessing the temple may require chartering a tuk-tuk due to its location 2.
Wow, amazingly original with its steel structure. It is an amazement to walk inside and discover the structure and the different rooms with the statues. The place has a really special vibe to it and feels holy. The setup in the hills is very nice but it is 7km from the city. A must see in Hat Yai for sure.

Nestled on top of a mountain with steep slopes with cool atmosphere. One of the tourist attractions of Hatyai which is very worth a visit to but recommended to have a transport when leaving the place due to the hilly terrains it's very difficult to get Grab transport or Tuk Tuk. The temple is mainly built using stainless steel materials and you can pray according to your date and day of your birth dates. Very serene and quiet which is also a good place for meditation as well.

It's an ideal destination for families, offering fun experiences for both kids and adults. The museum now incorporates augmented reality into its 3D art, bringing the pictures to life.
Amazing experience. At first I thought it would be boring. However once I entered,my inner child felt burst and I really enjoyed every moment even though I'm 37 this year.

This was technically my first time attending a magic show in a mini theatre and I thought it was really quite entertaining given the magic performed. Before the magic show started, we got to snap photos at the museum area which offers App enabled AR experience through your very own phone and the photos come to life! Just take note no photography or videography during the magic show! And do check out their collection of old toys ...!

Fun experience overall 1. Many rooms to take photos and have fun with their AR experience embedded in many of the photos. Enjoyed the different themes- egypt, winter, nature, paintings etc. 2. Staff was great and friendly to my son. We didnt get there in time for magic show but the magician actually came and spent 5 minutes giving a mini-magic show for my son. Not the cheapest but we had fun and was worth it.

Great experience, especially for those who loves magic. The museum items some of it doesn't have description or detail to reflex info (just historical old items shows)and for those who doesn't have any knowledge of magical history or legendaries person in magical pioneers will have no idea who or what it is. But the 3D museum is cool just need apps to download but certain cannot function fully. The great about this place is you can choose to buy a ticket for having a 1 hour live magic show from Thai no.1 magic person. It is a must to see.Fun ,enjoy and awesome experience to see the show. But cannot take any pic or videos during show.

Outstanding magic performance and advanced 3D experience. At first I thought of another 3D, but this is different and refreshing I would say. Well done. Even my teenage kids are thrilled with the magic show. So I rate this a must visit in Hatyai.

Kho Hong Mountain vista point

Nature & Parks

Food stalls, an aviary & a pavilion on a pond are installed amid sculpture & flower gardens.
I always take a walk or jogging at this place. Fresh air in early morning. Convenient road, fully cover with a lot of trees like you're under nature blanket. The place is really safe even you are the woman who wanna walk alone. Sometimes, I went around 5pm and finished about 7 or 8pm. But still somebody walking there. If you plan to visit Hatyai, i recommended to visit this good view point in Hatyai as well.

Great view. Went there twice during my trip back in August 2025. The view was breathtaking! It is part of a big municipal park. So you can walk down the hill after enjoying the sunset and enjoy the view.

Kho Hong Mountain, located within the Hat Yai Municipal Park, is a natural gem that showcases the beauty of Thailand's southern landscape. Its lush greenery, breathtaking views, and serene environment make it a popular destination for both locals and tourists seeking a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. One of the highlights of Kho Hong Mountain is the opportunity for outdoor activities. Hiking trails wind up to the peak, offering a moderate challenge for nature enthusiasts and providing spectacular panoramic views of Hat Yai and the surrounding area. on the top there is also Buddhist temple with the Golden Buddha Statue seen even from very far distance. Another appealing aspect of Kho Hong Mountain is the sense of tranquility it offers. The park is well-maintained, with picnic areas and sculptures that contribute to a relaxing atmosphere. It's a great spot for families and friends to gather, unwind, and enjoy nature together. In my opinion, Kho Hong Mountain is not only a natural wonder but also an important part of Hat Yai's community. It encourages an appreciation for the environment, promotes physical activity, and fosters a sense of unity. As urbanization continues to expand, having such green spaces is essential for enhancing quality of life and preserving the natural beauty of the region.

Visited Kho Hong Mountain Vista Point during my trip to Hatyai, and it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and scenic spots I visited. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a nice view of the city while escaping the hustle and bustle, this is definitely worth the stop. The staff at the area were friendly and helpful, making visitors feel welcome. They were approachable and willing to give directions or provide some basic information about the place. Even though it’s mainly a vista point, their presence made the visit smooth and safe. The environment here is very calm and relaxing. As you reach the top, the surroundings become quieter, and you immediately feel a sense of peace. It’s a nice place to sit down, slow down, and simply enjoy the moment. For those who like photography, it’s a great opportunity to capture some beautiful shots of Hatyai city from above. The view from Kho Hong Mountain is stunning. You can see Hatyai from a different perspective, with a wide panoramic view that looks especially nice during the early morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and the weather is cooler. It’s a perfect spot to take in the scenery and reflect. There is no entrance fee, and although there is no food or drink service here, the experience is more about enjoying the tranquility and the natural beauty. Overall, Kho Hong Mountain Vista Point is a great place to visit if you want to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and one of the best views of Hatyai. It’s ideal for travelers who appreciate quiet moments, nature, and scenic lookouts. Highly recommended for a quick stop during your trip, especially if you want to enjoy the sunset or sunrise over the city.

Drive up the hill for 10 minutes, and suddenly you will find yourself at a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Hat Yai city and surroundings. On a day with good visibility, can see very far. There is a beautiful Buddha sculpture at the viewpoint, overlooking the city. Great place to visit and completely for free!
