The entrance is on the ground floor behind the entrance of the Aman Central Mall. RM 8 for adult and RM4 for kids (Malaysians). It's windy up there so you won't sweat up your shirts. The telescope machine is free to use. Also, you can walk from Alor Setar KTM Station to the mall or Alor Setar Tower but need to cross fews dangerous roads.

Alor Setar Tower. Pay 8 ringgit. Go upstairs take lift. Enjoy the beautiful scenic view around the city. This is just amazing. Because not many tall towers nearby, so you can view everything! You can see gunung jerai from here. Spend maybe 30mins to 1hour on the covered deck or open deck. Just amazing. Spectacular. Thank you for reading

Please change the lenses of your telescope. They've turned yellow due to UV exposure and aging... they look terrible, it's really sad. Don't embarrass the name of Kedah in the eyes of tourists. People are paying for the tickets. Please, do something — it's embarrassing.

Nice facility, hope the management can put signage along the corridor and indicate the historical landmarks such as the istana , masjid zahir and others. We enjoyed out time up at the tower.

Coming from Kuala Lumpur, where KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers dominate the skyline, I didn’t feel the need to head up to the top of Alor Setar Tower. Yet, even without the full tourist experience, the tower left its mark on me. What makes it special is the context: in a small, laid-back town where most buildings are modest in height, this single tower rises confidently, instantly becoming a landmark you can’t miss. Unlike the competition of skyscrapers in KL, Alor Setar Tower stands in striking contrast to its surroundings. That difference gives it a quiet kind of grandeur—less about sheer scale and more about presence. You don’t have to go up to appreciate it; just seeing it dominate the skyline is enough to understand why it’s a point of pride for the city. It’s a reminder that even a lone tower can redefine a town’s character.

Best experience with kids. Staffs are friendly. Just opposite of Aman Central & a walking distance from our hotel. Ticket also cheap.

One of the iconic landmarks in Alor Setar that you should visit. To look at Alor Setar city from the birds' eye view gives the historically appreciative and amazing feeling as you can spot combination of new modern buildings, old shop rows, palaces and even spectacular Gunung Keriang can be seen from far. Kedah River snakes around shops and buildings renders the vibes of serenity amidst the bustling time of rush hour. Should you feel that you want for more, you can challenge yourself to walk on the glass plank or to have a dine at a restaurant with amazing view around. For kids, there are other interesting activities that they can try like venturing the basement haunted house (open occasionally), riding in the pool or even playing at the playground. Simple as it may seem this landmark is definitely a place for family to get together or chill in the evening.

This museum is nice but not friendly to elderly people and OKU. I bring my 70ish old grandma to this museum since she hasn't visited this place since her early days. When you arrive, you need to climb very high stairs in order to reach the front door of the museum. No lift for elderly, no concrete slabs for wheelchair users or strollers. Even when you get in, there's stairs everywhere. There's one lift but it is only connected to the ground floor (this museum has 3 floors), which is connected to the souvenirs site or artifact display. The lift can only fit 3 people at a time. Those handicap groups can't reach the 3rd floor, which is the most important floor in the museum. In my first picture, it was the stairs leading to the 3rd floor. The 3rd floor is the moving platform that showcases 360° painting of paddy fields. Again just to remind you, my grandma is very old and has a pretty bad eyesight. The stairs leading up were very dark, I even need to use my flashlight to shine the pathway so that my grandma won't trip. The stairs are also very high. It took us minutes to arrive there, and we're very sorry for the people behind us. Also another thing that I am wondering...why there's only 1 exit even though there's a lot of doors leading outside from the museum?? And the exit is the most far away from the parking lot??? The exit that they opened was the exit to the toilet, which is at the BACK of the museum. We need to walk under the scorching sun (you know how hot the weather here is) for minutes to get to the parking lot, which is IN FRONT of the museum. You can just open 2 exit doors, one leading to the toilet and another to the parking lot?? It's not that hard. Mind you, I bring my GRANDMA here because she really loves this place and she wants to go here when she still can walk. But the service and conditions of this place makes the experience so lame. I hope you guys do something about this. At least put an escalator or something so that all people from all walks of life could use it, including disabled people. Museum should be accessible to everyone, not for youngsters or healthy person. Thank you for coming to my TED talk:D

The building looks great… Entrance is affordable. Not disable friendly… from main entrance to the top floor point of interest, no lift… Some rice infomation that you can easily find online… The top floor need to climb up 3 floors of stairs then you find a rotate platforms surround by static pictures, with bad and stuffy AC… Seriously tons of potentials wasted… instead of static picture, u can either use image projection, or the roof should be 360 degree of glasses so you can have the view of the real paddy fields?! Some of the showroom is dusty stuffy and no AC. There are toilet in the building, but only for working staffsthat get paid monthly salary… Visitors that paid for ticket have to get out of the main building to a toilet hut that is not shaded walk path mean you will be under rain/sun… Might as well just get to the real paddy field to get the real feel and take picture…

We rushed there before their lunch break and had only 30 minutes but enough to walk finished all the exhibits. I misread someone else’s comment. I thought on the top of the museum can get a 360 panoramic view of its surrounding but it turned out to be a 360 degree mural instead. It’s not too bad but I think a real view of the surrounding ( paddy fields and Mt Kerniang) would even be more astounding! I thought designers might have considered the paddy fields ain’t be going to stay so colorful and nice whole year round.

The top view is beautiful. You just have to sit and the seats move 360 degrees to see the whole view.

Not too many artwork is on displayed; most of the collection are either rotated or brought from some other place (during my visit there is a traveling exhibition by the National Gallery in Kuala Lumpur on paintings by Kedah's artist). The building itself is an art but they still did not do anything on the ornate ceiling. The display on traditional Malay house look too tired and well, lazy. Not much enthusiast by the staffs maybe but at least the security personal is friendly & helpful.

i went there at night. the paintings are cool but some of them are dusty :(( hmmm they should clean them more frequently. you can also “lepak” at the food trucks after a tour in the gallery!

Located at Dataran Alor Setar, this building was built in 1912.  The building was used as a High Court before it was converted to be an art gallery in 1983. Many artworks by local talents are displayed here today. Beautiful architecture and well maintained. And it is free entrance.

Free entry, just need to register at entry. Aircon museum. The staff is friendly and helped us take photos. Easy to navigate around. Lots of exhibits to see and with artifacts, rather than posters. There are a number of mock-ups like bedrooms. One can easily spend more than 20 mins inside. Toilets are available too outside the museum.

This royal museum was the palace of a few Sultan of Kedah. Built in the 1700 this palace shows a very intricate Malay architecture. You can feel the royal vibes as you walk the very alley and enter the rooms in this museum. Entrance is free and its air-conditioning. Entrance is quite hidden need to walk around the compound. The security officer is very graceful I love her. I think I will come back to just visit the palace once again. Its spectacular.

It's great to see and read about the history of the kedah royal family, touring the old palace and seeing all the antique items from yesteryears. Definitive worth spending some time at the Royal museum when in Alor Setar.

The museum is located just across the historical Masjid Zahir. The building used to be an Istana for the Kedah royals. Free admission, and no queue. You also need to remove your footwear before entering. You are not allowed to take any photographs inside. Very informative. Texts are written in Malay and English. The aircon makes you momentarily forget about the hot weather outside. The building itself is old. This adds to the vibe. Floorboards will shake and screech as you walk along the aisle. I think this is a good starting point to get to know about the Kedah Sultanate, which is one of the oldest existing monarchies. One of the earliest displays that you will see is the lineage of the current Kedah Sultan that can be traced back to the first Muslim king of Kedah. I toured and read almost all the descriptions attached to the exhibits and, in total spent about an hour. Toilets are available at the annexe building within the compound and are well-maintained.

Worth the visit! Remember you are prohibited to take pictures inside the museum…

Really love Medina Thai Restaurant! The food tastes super good, full of real Thai flavor and just the right amount of spice. The Tom Yum and Pad Thai are my favorites! The place feels cozy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Portion size is big too, so it’s totally worth it. Definitely a nice spot to chill and enjoy tasty Thai food!

Best place to bring family makan here. Makanan sedap2, big portion, worth the price.. ambiance cozy and the most important thing is sedap, still craving for the siakap kengsom, siakap 3 rasa, seafood tom yum. Definitely will come again! And the pandan cake so sedap too! Having dinner on Wednesday nite.

The environment is ok, there are many photos on the wall. Food is ok, just that the tomyam soup is a bit thick to drink it alone. The food portion is generous tho we ordered small for all the dishes and price is reasonable.

Tom yum ok. Telur dadar is not thai style. Authentic ones js like Parathai. Sotong celup tepung is wet batter style. Kangkung celup tepung failed miserably. Oily and soggy. Learn how Boat Noodle or Tuk tuk does it. Get a better chef to commensurate the ambiance.

Located in the main part of Alor Setar, u wont missed this busy eatery outlet serving delicious family receipe of yellow rice. Dishes included Fried chicken, beef, salted egg, curry, fried fish, sambal, eggs. Price so reasonable you wont mind to queue for 10 minutes to savour this local food.

Forget nasi lemak Royale... This is the place for your breakfast, brunch and even lunch. Opens 700am till 200pm daily. The best MALAY nasi kandar, now available in Shah Alam, Bangi, Cheras & Putrajaya too. Definitely must try this. You'll love this. Owner operated, Abang Lan. A simple breakfast that hits the spot. I just had the roti ghedik and a coffee. Was satisfied with it. It is a roadside stall, so the morning traffic was there. Not too many people when I arrived at 8.30am. Food came pretty fast.

Upon arriving, it's quite tricky to find parking spot for a car. You'll need to park by roadside. First come first serve basis. Hehe. As for the stall, you may find a lot of tables to choose starting with 4 seats. Very convenient arrangement for a small stall. Just, no choice to enjoy the food well since the stall is just near the road. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars for the atmosphere. Once you seat, you'll be given 2 pcs of order chit. 1 for food and 1 for beverages. Quite a good system for a stall with good recomendation in the chit sheet, you may find few icons. The price also quite reasonable with Kedahan people. With the help of pictures in the menu given and staff's explanation, you'll make a good choice. We choose Oletto, half-boiled eggs and breakfast set. Oletto comes as omellete with lots of shallots topped with sliced cheese and wrapped with roti jala served with curry. I loved it and the curry taste really good when eat with oletto. Breakfast set consists of 1 sausage, 1 pc white bread, baked beans, English scrambled eggs, 1pc hashbrown with chilli sauce and mayonnaise. My husband and I ordered iced kopi bakar and kopi Kedah. I preferred the hint of smoked bean in kopi bakar while my husband love the creamy bitter taste of kopi Kedah. Staffs are very helpful, energetic and friendly especially the one named Arif. Find him there and he will serve you well. For the one who decide to come here, enjoy your food well since it's very good. I will definitely come back very soon.

Here are some additional things to note about Alor Setar Breakfast Station: -The restaurant is open from 7am to 11am daily. -It is located in the heart of Alor Setar, near the Clock Tower. -There is no air conditioning, but the restaurant is well-ventilated. -There is limited parking, so it is best to arrive early or during off-peak hours. -you can also drive thru!

27/8/23, Sunday, 8am: It's peak hours at 8am onwards. Do come early if you don't want the hassle to find a good parking spot and a good table. Many varieties of food to choose from. Fina a table.. you will get a menu, a paper and a pen. Just jot down what you want to eat and drinks.. write your table number and then give back the paper, pen, menu to the waiter / waitress. Service was quick.. this helps to manage the customers at peak hours. I tried the kopi bakar but forgot to mention / exclude the sugar. It was very sweet and only consumed half of it. Oh.. there is also a drive through option where you can park your car at the designated drive through area, wait in the car for the order and service. The food is ok, price is good.. i wish they could find a more spacious parking area. The view is not that nice because of the storm drain, beside main congested road, beside a car and motocycle repair shop. We had brunch here after getting groceries at TF Mart Alor Setar nearby. We had the Big Breakfast, a double Oletto, the Kaya Top and the Roti Telur. First time trying the Oletto..seems like it's omellette layered with cheese and wrapped in roti jala. It was different, yet satisfying. The Kayatop was nice too. Service was fast and the staffs were friendly and pleasant.

Many breakfast choices. Friendly service staffs. Need to come here more often. 😋👍 Tried their Big Breakfast. 😮 This can beat McD's anytime. Many other local and fusion-type menus here. Just go there and have fun.

We had Nasi Lemak telur mata & ayam goreng. Sambal was garang. RM9. Oletto - something new and nice. Roti jala filled with egg & cheese. Roti teloq meleleh & kayatop awesome too. Breakfast set - another option for who wants english breakfast. Price - above average. Ok for sekali sekala. Refer my receipt for details.

Our first time here, don't really know what to expect. Ordered Classic Chicken Chop, Nachos, Grilled Platter & Cheesy Platter set. We don't have to wait long for the food to be served. The place itself is great, very welcoming with a refreshing green theme and a nice tree that adds to the cozy atmosphere. Service was as it should be, a warm welcome with smiles, which set a good first impression. I ordered the Grilled Chicken. The sides were well done, tasty wedges and fresh veggies. Unfortunately, the chicken was quite dry, which took away from the overall experience. A small tip: to keep chicken juicy, some chefs use a light baking soda marinade before grilling. It helps lock in moisture and makes the meat more tender. With a little adjustment like that, this dish could really shine. Big Galley’s Café definitely has good vibes and potential.

This restaurant serve you their very tasty and cheesy western foods. Their food is great and big in portion too. This cafe has a relaxing vibe but there are people smoking without respect. This cafe use hipster concept for their design. Their service are quite fast. Imagine, for 7 orders, we get our orders before 15 minutes. That crazy quick right? I’m really impressed with their foods prep. There are free park too and it is easily accessible. I forgot to mention their nachos, I would definitely recommend their nachos because of the flavor and cheese are taste are perfect. It seem there are number of negative reviews but they are upgrading their services now and also their menus. So I definitely recommend this cafe to you guys.

Thought you guys improved the quality of your foods since the cafe is beautifully renovated. I always have faith that the next time i come the foods would be much better but NO. the other day i had grilled chicken and it was so dry. also SWEET blackpepper sauce? what even? tonight i came and ordered chicken chop the batter was not even hot when served. blackpepper sauce? SWEET? do something pls. cut it short, quality makanan tak sepadan dengan harga. customer don't need your sorry BUT IMPROVEMENT YA 🙂

Price: 4.5 ⭐ Portion: 5 ⭐ Taste: 4 ⭐ Service: 3.5 ⭐ Big Galley's is a good place to enjoy some western food at cheap and reasonable price in Alor Setar. The portion of the dish served is quite large. The atmosphere over there is also nice, there is a group of buskers performing there at night. The waiting time for food upon order is also very fast, but maybe the system of taking orders should be computerized by using app, etc. as different waiters came to our table quite often asking about whether our orders have been placed or not. Plus, table umbrellas should be prepared for the diners eating outdoors in case of sudden rain. Overall, the service at the restaurant is a satisfactory! 👍🏻

I like the chicken chop and momotaro chicken here. Fast service. But I wonder why they don't give me some salad with momotaro set because last time I came they gave it together with the meals. But its ok. Just one advice, be consistent and keep on the good things and be better. All the best to you! The last photo was my last time eating there and another 3 was my recent experience.

Known this restaurant by red book app, also asked a grab driver of Alor Setar whether the restaurant is recommended or not, the grad driver also recommended it. I visited the restaurant at noon, around 11.55am, not crowded, I ordered nasi and ayam bawang and a bottle of limau ais, the portion of the nasi ayam bawang is generous, the dishes and the rice are so tasty, especially with the gravy, the ayam bawang is savory. I should have planned my stay in Alor Setar longer than can try more dishes at this restaurant. The owner is a senior citizen, very friendly.

Don’t miss out this legendary Nasi Lemak Restaurant when u visit Alor Setar . The curry and sambal is really good . The service are great and so goes to the food . Its a must to eat here

It's quite sometimes I didn't having meals here and I was a bit disappointed because the taste of the kuah is droping or maybe the jockey didn't mix well all the gravy.

We were amongst the earliest here for our brunch, all the way from KL. Opens as early as 1130am (except fri 2.30pm). All time fav nasi lemak utagha. Must try. Beware of ‘kuah banjir ’, can be 🥵🌶️

The photo of my plate of Nasi Lemak does not do justice to the flavors of the kuah campur at this little nasi lemak place. The queues were still evident even at 9pm at night. There isn’t much to pick from other than the usual suspects but the flavors are worth the simplicity. We complimented our dish with some burgers from the stall outside. Turned out pretty good too !

One of alot Alor Setar people famous Nasi Kandar "Kuah basah", their taste nice and spicy, but after meal feel thirsty. Their rice very good. HALAL Parking opposite road or behind this shop have huge parking bay, (avoid street parking make traffic jam/summon) Price: RM 12.8 Rice+fried chicken+lady finger+egg / Sirap ice.

Don't be confused as this is not your typical nasi lemak. In the north, they are close to the likes of Nasi kandar. Order your rice topped with fried chicken, daging hitam, curries and splash them up with 'kuah campur'. If you dislike overflooding of sauces in your plate, do stop them before it's too late. I suggest left some rice untouched so your mouthfuls won't be too overwhelming with the kuah strong taste. The fried chicken is out of this world when it's hot. Highly recommended joint.
