Konnos Beach is a picturesque sandy beach located near the bustling resort town of Ayia Napa and the quaint village of Protaras in Cyprus. The area features a scenic pedestrian walkway with viewing platforms and benches for relaxation, offering a memorable descent to the shoreline. With clear, shallow waters ideal for swimming and water sports, this serene bay is surrounded by towering rocky mountains, creating a tranquil setting for beachgoers.
Hidden gem and absolutely lovely. However, last time there were lots of hornets, even at the showers, it's good to take care of them.
Radostina T — Google review
This was my favorite beach we visited! We didn't get sunbeds because there werent any available but we had the best time. We recommend being at the furthest left side of the beach there is where is the best. We also visited it with a boat where we saw the sea turtles! The highlight of our trip!
Makedonka V — Google review
Konnos Beach is a beautifully located spot with a unique descent that makes the experience even more interesting. The access is quite good, and the drive there is easy. It’s a rather peaceful place compared to some other beaches, although it can still get crowded. On the day of my visit, the sea was very rough, with big waves, which made swimming difficult, but that was more due to the weather conditions. Normally, it’s a stunning place worth visiting. You do need to walk down a bit to reach the beach, but the path is good and not too challenging. Overall, it’s a charming beach with a great atmosphere, definitely a place I would recommend.
Rafal S — Google review
BEST BEACH BY FARR!!! While it is crowded and some days you can’t find sun-beds, it is really worth it if you don’t mind waiting a bit for a place or if u like throwing ur towel on sand. Must visit!
Nemanja V — Google review
A very small beach with lots of people — very crowded, and there are only a few parking spaces. The path to the beach is extremely steep. There are many much better beaches, such as Nissi Beach or the Blue Lagoon in the National Park.
Sándor B — Google review
rented an ATV and drove down to the beach – super easy to park with a small quad. If you come by car, make sure to arrive early (around 08:00–09:00) to get a spot, otherwise you’ll have to walk a bit. The same goes if you want sunbeds and umbrellas – come early. We rented two sunbeds and one umbrella for 8 euros. The beach has soft sand and really good snorkeling 🤿. You can even snorkel all the way to Turtle Beach – it’s a bit far for some, so a float mattress can help. There are also pedal boats, paddle boards, and lots of other fun rentals. A really great beach experience 🏝️
Anton H — Google review
Very nice beach, like in the jungle surrounded by nature. Water is cristal clear. There is a restaurant in the trees. Beautiful!
Aleksandra N — Google review
Konnos Bay is one of my favorite and most beautiful beaches in Cyprus. The water is crystal clear, and the whole area has a peaceful, hidden feel — it’s smaller and usually less crowded, which makes it perfect for relaxing. There’s a lovely restaurant nearby where you can grab a meal, enjoy a drink, or take a break from the strong sun. The beach is reached by a scenic path about 800 meters long, and while it’s not a large beach, the stunning water makes it absolutely worth the visit! 🌊🌞💙

A piece of natural beauty! So beautiful a couple were having some wedding photos there! Because of this, very popular and almost impossible to get the iconic photo in the hole in the rock! Simply stunning (has an excellent friendly burger van on site too!🙂🍺)
Jonathan B — Google review
Not so much to see actually. I didn't walk up the mountain though which I saw other people do. No animals, no special plants. I was there in the beginning of August. I will put pictures here from the blue lagoon which is nearby but not 100% sure of its part of the national park. Its close though. You can walk in from the beach side in the lagoon but its very Rocky so take it easy. Most people arrive with party boats.
SwedishTraveller — Google review
Cavo Greco National Park is absolutely stunning. The water is crystal clear and incredibly inviting, and the whole area has a wonderful, peaceful energy. It’s definitely worth the effort to explore — breathtaking views, clean sea, and a great feeling all around.
G W — Google review
Lovely quiet place to sit, relax and contemplate. The rocks and caves can be got too by way of steps and you nice in, there is plenty of fish to see. Up by the church, be sure to take some treats for the cats as well as some water for them too.

Honestly such a beautiful place, day and night!!! My favourite time is sunset as it’s just amazing. A must see whilst in Cyprus

Beautiful spot, peaceful, tranquil with an almost eerie silence. The ‘bridge’ is fascinating, & the view tremendous - an easy drive off the A3, then some quite narrow roads, but worth the trip.

Cape Greco is Cyprus at its wildest and most beautiful — turquoise waters, limestone cliffs, sea caves, and pine-scented trails overlooking endless blue. Best at sunrise or sunset when the light turns golden.

Fig Tree Bay is a stunning beach located just outside Ayia Napa in Protaras. It boasts clear, calm waters and offers rental loungers and umbrellas for visitors to relax on the small sand beach. The bay is named after a fig tree planted by eastern invaders in the 17th century and is known for its crystal-clear waters, earning it the prestigious Blue Flag status. Visitors can enjoy various water sports such as skiing, paragliding, snorkeling, and scuba diving.
Great beach, clean turquoise water. There are also showers, plenty of places to eat and supermarkets nearby to get whatever you need! You can also park for free exactly near the beach! I would definitely recommend going there early, as later there is a possibility that you cannot find free umbrellas and sunbeds. Price for a set was 7.5€
Lachezar M — Google review
Probably one of the most beautiful and charming beaches in the island, parking nearby is available. You need to be there early if you want to get a sunbed and umbrella otherwise improvise a place in the shade.
Rudy A — Google review
Excelent, Clean, organized by municipality, sandy beach with superb blue water. 7,5 euro 2 sunbeds+umbrelă.
Marius — Google review
A wonderful beach with crystal-clear, uniquely turquoise water and white sand. You can relax passively while sunbathing or enjoy active leisure with pedal boats, small boats, and more.
Igor B — Google review
Absolutely beautiful beach! The sand is soft and golden, and the water is crystal clear with the most amazing turquoise color — it honestly feels like the Caribbean. The sea stays shallow for a long distance, which makes it perfect for families with kids. There are plenty of facilities — clean toilets, showers, sunbeds, umbrellas, cafés, and water sports (SUP, kayaks, parasailing). Everything is well maintained, and the atmosphere is relaxed yet lively. It can get quite crowded during summer weekends, so it’s best to come early in the morning. The small island a few meters offshore is great for swimming or snorkeling.
Bogdan S — Google review
Beautiful place. Excellent water sports. We purchased our food and refreshments from a nearby supermarket and took them to the beach ⛱️.

Profitis Elias church

Greek Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Churches & Cathedrals
Perched on a hill just outside the main tourist area of Protaras, Profitis Ilias, also known as the Church of Saint Elias, is a small Greek Orthodox church with Byzantine architecture and captivating stone walls. Despite being built in 1984, it exudes an ancient charm. To reach the chapel, visitors must climb 153 steps, but the effort is rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Protaras.
Lovely church, the walk up the stairs is pretty easy. My 2 year old done it in about 3-4 minutes. Great views across protaras. I would recommend going up for sunset.
Wayne D — Google review
Beautiful little Church. Very quiet peaceful place. Grounds very well looked after. No payment needed to enter. Alot of steps to climb, hard work if you decide to go in 36degree heat as we did, but worth it spectacular views
JANE S — Google review
A very beautiful place. The church is located on one of the highest points of Protoras. There is a bus stop nearby, but you can also walk there. Below is a shady, cozy green mini-park, a small waterfall and a place for wedding registration. There are steps leading up, which, according to legend, must be counted back and forth. The difference represents the number of your sins. There are also several trees on which ribbons are tied, as a memory of someone or to make wishes. The church is small, quiet, peaceful. A place for prayer and reflection. It is open to everyone on weekdays and there are no priests or other staff. On weekends, weddings, prayers or other events can take place here. You can light candles, which are here, and make a donation in a special box. There is also a small store with religious accessories nearby. From here, a beautiful panoramic view of Protoras opens. A place worth visiting!
Anatoly B — Google review
There is a parking lot below the church. There are about 50 steps leading up to the church, but the view is definitely worth it. A beautiful place with an amazing atmosphere.
Milos S — Google review
A great setting for a church. There are bout 75 steps but are easy to do. The chapel it was built in 1984 in the place of an older chapel. The stones that it was built with is from the local area, so it would fit with the surroundings and they do compliment the area around it. The church is full of frescoes from floor to ceiling of Saints and scenes from the Greek Orthodox bible. Outside you will be greeted by a tree that has many ribbons and strips of cloth tied to its branches. That is because is a remembrance tree but lately people have started tying ribbons from the bottom of the seps and to other trees and bushes. They tie the ribbon or cloth in remembrance of a loved one. If this is something you’d like to do while visiting the chapel, make sure to take ribbon with you. This way you can tie the ribbon and honour your loved ones just like locals do. Others tie the ribbon and make a wish. So for some this is like a wishing tree. However, you look at it thought it is an amazing thing to tie your own ribbon on the tree. The views from there are amazing as you can see the whole of Protaras and the blue coastal area.
Kypriopoulla — Google review
Great views as far as your eyes can see, well worth the short steep stairs up, a few of them.. You will not be disappointed, try at sunrise, sunset or during the day. Take some time to reflect on whatever you want. You can leave a donation for for the church as it's always open. I recommend it.
Marian C — Google review
An amazing church to visit, quite a few steps for perhaps people with certain health or mobility restrictions. We went just as the sun was setting and the view is amazing once you are up there, a beautiful church inside and out and a must visit here in Protaras.
Stuart G — Google review
Well worth the climb up amazing 360 degree views also fantastic to see inside the church lovely and quiet , recommend taking a moment to enjoy the peace and light a candle. Outside fascinating to look around all offerings that have been left. Steep climb but worth it.

Kantara Castle

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Displaying both Byzantine & Frankish architectural styles, these castle ruins sit atop a hill.
A beautiful view from the castle is worth driving a very narrow and winding road and climbing slippery stone steps. Was there at the end of march and cyclamens were in bloom, that added a special charm to the place.
Petite P — Google review
Kantara Castle is absolutely worth a visit! It’s an amazing spot with free parking and easy access. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk up. The best time to go is at sunset , the views are simply breathtaking.
Joy S — Google review
Breathtaking. Be careful as is steep and wear comfy shoes. Bring Turkish lira in cash. The drive up is exciting. The drive back is confusing on Google maps towards the bottom where the little town is, best follow locals on the roads towards the main highway. You will enjoy.
Nikkie H — Google review
These castle ruins had a small entrance fee to walk up. Make sure you have sturdy footwear as lots of uneven surfaces and steps to climb. Their was a small parking area and toilets at the bottom. As you walked up their are lots of areas to explore and to enter. Some were quite intact and some in ruins. At the very top was lovely views over the land and coast. Well worth the visit. Plenty of places like walls and rocks to sit and rest on the way. A lot of places have no barriers
Sheila B — Google review
It's a bit of a drive but very worth it for the views. There are stray cats so bring some food like cooked eggs, don't chase them. They are scared. It's free to entry after hours
Oskar L — Google review
Very beautiful Castle with a couple of rooms. I enjoyed the sunset view there. The road is very good and comes almost directly to the castle. The territory is quite clean. The views are fantastic with the observation of 2 sees on both sides. I will come there again for sure. Buffavento give a great view, but it's hard to climb there, while canara is a great choice for all needs and all reasons! I like it very much!
Евдокимов Д — Google review
The Byzantine fortress from the late 11th and early 12th centuries served as part of a defense system against Arab invaders. It is well preserved to this day. From the top there are beautiful views of the mountains and the sea. A rather winding road leads to the fortress. It is better to choose a day that is not too hot for sightseeing, although the inside of the fortress is cool even on a hot day. Almost all paths are equipped with railings, so you can walk with children. I recommend wearing sneakers or shoes comfortable for walking on stones.
Fejgele S — Google review
Nice small castle fun and quick to explore, the area was fairly clean. Entry ticket cost 50 lira per adult, this was not advertised anywhere, so I didn't bring a lot of cash in lira and euros/ card not accepted, so couldn't cover for 2adults yet they still allowed entry and paid 20 lira in the end for 2adults. Always a lack of info on the north side no matter where you go.

The Monastery of Ayia Napa, originally constructed in 1500 CE, has been transformed into a museum and garden. This historic landmark is a significant religious and architectural site in Cyprus, with a captivating legend about the discovery of an icon of the Virgin Mary. The monastery's Venetian-era architecture adds to its centuries-old charm. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Aiya Napa beach, known for sunbathing, water sports, and shopping.
People there were so kind, specially the priest Vasilis. He read for us a prayer and then he spoke to us, consulted us and we felt like he knew us, like the God talk to us through him!
Danae S — Google review
The beautiful monastery, unfortunately, only the chapel can be partially visited, the other buildings are closed to tourists. In the chapel you can pray and light a candle "for a known intention"
Paweł P — Google review
We walked down from the hill toward the Ayia Napa Monastery, and on the way we passed a beautiful new-looking church with a round dome on the right. Just before reaching the monastery entrance, there’s a huge fig tree also on the right. The figs were small and the leaves looked quite different from the usual fig trees, I wish we could learn more about the story and the variety of the tree. A peaceful and enriching place, both culturally and spiritually. Definitely worth a visit! I also stopped by the gift shop, where the staff was very friendly and welcoming. He introduced me to a unique type of incense made from the dragon’s blood tree, the ones found on the island of Sokotra, Yemen. He explained how it's been collected from the tree, and burned over charcoal. The smell is fascinating for me.
NANA D — Google review
A peaceful oasis in the lively heart of Ayia Napa. The monastery is beautifully preserved and offers a wonderful sense of calm amid the energy of the town. The stone architecture, old sycamore tree, and shaded courtyards create a serene, almost timeless atmosphere. You can feel both history and spirituality here — it’s easy to imagine what life might have been like centuries ago. Whether you visit for a few quiet minutes, to take photos, or simply to reflect, this place is absolutely worth a stop.

Beautiful. Not busy… open until late. Good energy.
Jullieth R — Google review
I have very fond memories visiting the monastery as a child and I'm was a bit disappointing to see that it was closed for renovations and after 3 years is still not open. The monastery is built on the old foundations of another small Byzantine church dedicated to Virgin Mary, and it was built in the middle of the village. When it was built in 1500 AD it was in a form of a Medieval castle. Outside the church is the famous ficus sycamore tree which is over 600 years old. November 2025 Returned to this lovely monastery and i'm was impressed how well they have restored it. Now it has a small museum with some old icons that gives you the history of the monastery, and who was Ayia Napa. Very interesting to watch the short films that they have provided. The museum is free to visit but their shop was closed.

This beach was one of the best on the island at the same time we were there there were viral videos and photos about algae but we were after the water sports section on the rockier part of the beach ant the water was amazing and very clear. There was a lot of people there understandably so we recommend to go there at 9 am at the latest

Nice beach, 2 sunbeds and an umbrella 7.5€ which is very acceptable. Coffee and water around 7€, there are couple of stores nearby on the main road with acceptable prices, beer 1.8€, snacks 1.4€. Must visit if in Cyprus
Zoran T — Google review
Was here off season - April Enjoyed my time so much No crowds Water crystal clear Sunbed prices are regulated 2.5e per bed just like on the rest of the island there is no overprice for being the most popular beach I see how it can be an issue in season due to crowds but you just have to pick your time to enjoy
Filip — Google review
Don’t get me wrong, it is a nice beach and has a beautiful sea but it surrounded by hotels and packed. If you are a person who likes calm beaches without people, avoid this one or avoid Ayia Napa alltogether. It is crowded even in mid October.
Klára P — Google review
Very nice beach, in the begining of November, not too busy, can get sun beds pretty easy (2.5 eur per bed) and parking is 4 eur full day. Beach bar works and have pretty good food, slightly more expensive than everywhere else.
Alex J — Google review
Wonderful beach! The water is crystal clear and the weather was perfect, not windy at all. We visited in mid October and it was still quite busy, so I can only imagine how crowded it gets during the peak summer months. Definitely a must visit spot! Don’t miss out on having a piña colada served in a pineapple.

Beautiful local beach. Cristal clear water, sandy beach, restaurants and beach bars are available. Sunbeds are 2.5e as in while Cyprus. There is volleyball court on the beach.

Beautiful beach, we managed to get sunbeds later on in the day. Lots of cafes to choose from all very well priced. Sunloungers are 2.50, parasols also 2.50. The sea is perfect for children as it’s shallow for quite a long way out.

Just wow, beautiful, warm seas, blue skies awesome went back a few times, need to get your place early, sunloungers €2.50 each and brolly the same, cost €15 for dayx food and refreshments day for us was €100 beach we named it superb so relaxing, suncream required x

Makronissos beach… what a lovely place to be in the winter! If you planed to go to the beach in the summer, make sure you do the following: - set your alarm at 6:00am; - get to the beach and be the 20th person first to get a sunbed; - again, if you’re lucky, you’ll manage to get a couple of holiday pictures with the seaweed crystal clear seashore and blue turquoise water. The are 2 beaches whilst visiting Makronissos beach. The 1st and the main one is on the left or as soon as you park the car, you’ll see it as you have to walk towards the sea. The 2nd one is on the right hand side. Same old story, park the car, get to the sea, keep to your right and you will see the other side of the beach; not so good looking as the main one - but it comes with less sunbeds and quieter ambiance.

Beautiful and peaceful beach — clean, well-organized, and easy to access. 🌴 Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for only €2.50 each, and there are showers, changing rooms, a café, parking, and a lifeguard on duty. The water color is stunning! 🏝️ Maybe it’s just the beginning of November, but it felt wonderfully calm and uncrowded — a perfect spot to relax.

Very nice looking sandy beach. Water is clear. There is sunbeds and also parts without it. It has restaurants and bars. Amazing.

by far the best beach in the ayia napa area, so much better than overrated nissi. the water is crystal clear, the sand is clean and soft and the beach is set in a beautiful place. when you rent sunbed and umbrella it is for a whole day! absolutely loved it!!😍

Excellent beach with fine sand. The beach is big, and unlike Nissi beach, you can find a free sunbed here if you come a little later. At the entrance to the beach, there is a coffee shop, a restaurant and a shower.

Salamis Bay Conti Hotel

Serviced accommodation
Sights & Landmarks
Refined quarters in a contemporary beach resort with gourmet dining, a spa & a casino.
My stay at Salamis Bay Conti was truly enjoyable and exceeded my expectations. The hotel is beautifully located right on a wide, sandy beach with crystal-clear water. Every day brought stunning views of the sunrise and sunset, making the experience even more memorable. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-equipped. Housekeeping was done daily, and the staff paid great attention to detail. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which was essential given the high temperatures. The food at the hotel restaurant was delicious and varied. There was a great selection of local and international dishes, fresh fruits, desserts, and excellent breakfasts. I especially recommend trying the à la carte restaurant – great service and exceptional flavors. The pool area and entertainment were also a big plus. The pools were clean and well-maintained, and the animation team organized fun activities for both adults and children. Evening shows and live music added a nice touch to the evenings. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful – whether at the reception, bars, or restaurants. Everyone made an effort to ensure guests felt welcome and comfortable. The only minor downsides were the crowds in the restaurant during peak hours and the limited number of sunbeds by the pool – it’s worth reserving them early in the morning. Overall, Salamis Bay Conti is a fantastic choice for a holiday: comfortable rooms, high-quality service, and a beautiful setting. I would definitely recommend it and would love to return in the future.

Had a really nice stay with my family and the service was amazing. The staff were so attentive and kind. They were helpful at meal times with our baby and always made an effort to talk to her and engage with her. The hotel is huge and there is good entertainment. There were plenty of bars and a lovely cafe. Soft play and games room for kids. I feel it is more of a 4* resort and that’s fine but I don’t think it’s quite 5*. Having said that we would absolutely stay again.

Rested in July 2025. Very satisfied. Very large selection of food, in the dining room there are many waiters who bring everything, clean it. The dining room has a beautiful view of the sea, close to the sea. Good service in the bar. The beach is beautiful, there are free sunbeds, always cleaned. There is security on the beach. The sea is very clean and warm. Temperature +35. There are also 2 large pools and 6 bars on the hotel territory.

Fantastic hotel and unforgettable vacation! This hotel truly exceeded expectations. Beautiful sandy beach, clean and spacious pools, and great water slides for those who enjoy some fun and activity. Every evening featured high-quality entertainment: themed shows, live music, and lively parties. There was always something to enjoy, and the atmosphere was vibrant and engaging. The food was outstanding – a wide variety of fresh, delicious options including royal shrimp, octopus, sushi, and various types of meat. Each dinner had a different theme (Mexican, Chinese, Italian, etc.), which kept things exciting and flavorful throughout the stay. Rooms were cleaned daily, and the staff was professional, helpful, and always friendly. The weather was also surprisingly comfortable for July – warm, but not overwhelmingly hot. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-rounded, relaxing, and high-quality vacation.

This hotel was very clean and well maintained. It's a well organised hotel, plenty of food, and a massive selection of different dishes to choose from in any of the multiple restaurants. There were very well shocked bars to get a drink from. We strolled up the pier one evening and stumbled across a disco with late evening entertainment with a massive tray of shots... and another bar. All of the staff were very polite and friendly. The pools were kept very clean. There was a splash pool with large slides and lifeguards to keep everyone safe. We will go back next year.

I had an amazing stay at Salamis Bay Conti Hotel! The location is absolutely perfect - right by the beach with stunning sea views and easy access to everything you need. The rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable, with all the amenities you'd expect from a 5- star hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always going out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was also a highlight – delicious and with a great variety at every meal. The pool area and beach are beautiful and well-maintained, making it a perfect place to relax. Overall, this hotel really exceeded my expectations and made my trip unforgettable. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting the area

Clean hotel, friendly staff, delicious food. The furniture is not very luxurious, and the hotel is not brand new; but it feels like an authentic, familiar place. The sea is sandy, which makes swimming very enjoyable.

WaterWorld Themed Waterpark in Ayia Napa is a large water park with an Ancient Greece theme, offering 35 mythology-themed rides and attractions for families to enjoy. From the hair-raising Fall of Icarus to the Danaides Childrens Playground, there's something for everyone.
Absolutely amazing place my kids loved it! Suitable from 0-100 age, splash parks for toddlers and younger children, even rides! Not expensive to eat there at all, a fresh sorbet / icecream is only 2 euros! Fresh hot donuts with unlimited toppings. Great offer at the moment 2 days for the price of 1! We hired a cabana for 50euros which was directly infront of the kids pool, and great for keeping them out of the sun!
Lucy M — Google review
Great water Park, small enough to get around to all the slides and attractions. Clean, good selection of food and drinks. We hired the Cabana for an extra 50 euros which was well worth it, loads of beds available around the park though. Lockers available at the entrance and photos taken throughout the day which you can purchase at the end. There is a carpark, bus stop and taxi rank just outside the park. We had a fab day.
Danielle A — Google review
Some really good water rides with different levels for all ages. A large pool area with a wave machine. The park is in need of updating in my view but would still visit again. Our ticket (bought on line) enabled us to visit twice so we felt was value for money.
David G — Google review
Great day out for the family. Water based fun for all ages from great areas for small children and toddlers and a good variety of slides and rides for adults, including some really high fast drops. Went midweek in May and pretty much no wait on any of the rides. It has a wave machine in the main pool and a few other smaller pools dotted around the park. There are lots of options for food and refreshments, not too expensive. Recommend getting a Cabana, which comes with its little safe box. Its not cheap, I think it was €50 but is great for kids especially to have a lie down or snooze during the day. 4 stars as its a bit on the pricey side even with the discounted junior (2 - 12) tickets €28 and kids under 2 having free entrance.
Joseph M — Google review
Visited on a weekday as a group of four adults. Staff are an absolute asset to the venue they were all exceptionally friendly, on the ball and consistently acting in an assurance of safety. The rides themselves were diverse, exciting and for us there were next to no queues. MC Mike who ran the "games" i.e. spin the wheel etc was a joy and made for great entertainment. Food and drink was fairly priced. I cannot fault our experience we had the absolute best time and spent the whole day here without getting bored. My only feedback would be that some areas need a repaint just to freshen it up. I don't think you'll disappointed though. In addition they have refigerated storage for your packed lunch if you wish to take this you can then get a pass to leave and eat outside of the venue on designated picnic area. We thought this was a amazing touch and wish that more venues offer refrigeration/picnic.
Chiara W — Google review
Worth it for a day of fun, but some things can be improved. Positive is the multitude of lifeguards who give you the necessary safety for your children and the entire staff from the entrance to the terraces and restaurants. Affordable prices and the fact that you can find something for all tastes. Maybe some new sun loungers and more non-slip mats on the floor.
Dafinca D — Google review
Great fun for a reasonable price. All rides were fun and it was not crowded. Lots of entertaining activities for the kids. Very clean and well staffed with decent restaurants.

Saint Barnabas Monastery

Monastery
Sights & Landmarks
A 1700s complex with a museum of icons, archaeological finds & the tomb of Cyprus’s patron saint.
Our first stop exploring the region of many historical antiquities that should be seen if you're in Northern Cyprus. Our first stop was visiting the tiny chapel over the tomb of St. Barnabas. Upstairs seemed to be in disrepair for obvious reasons, but as I descended it down the steps to the tomb area, it got my hair standing on end being in this holy place. My wife and I said our prayers and left to explore the monastery and museum. The chapel area of the monastery is full of icons from over the many years. It's old, but seemed well preserved. There was a nominal fee to get inside as well as a small Cafe and gift shop. The museum is full of really impressive collection of ancient antiquities that some date to 1000 BC. Kind of mind-blowing for us. Definitely one of the most intriguing stops of our day!
William A — Google review
Although it unequivocally merits further restoration and management, this monastery, or rather, museum, as is the current state of it, is a notable piece of Greek Cypriot history and national identity. It is commendable that efforts are underway to make sure it remains reputable. If you're visiting, make sure not only to visit the main building of the monastery, but also to explore the gallery behind it. The gallery can be entered through the back courtyard, and it holds a sizable collection of archeological artifacts well worth observing.
Nikola R — Google review
It's a very interesting church. I recommend it. Also don't forget to visit the small Christian shrine next to 100 Mt.
Numan B — Google review
Close to Salamis road and hotel. Nice ancient church with several museums containing nice old paitings and old pottery and statues. We went there at 4pm and there was nobody else in the area. Tickets were 50 TL per person.
Hooman S — Google review
Amazing little church with such a story to tell. In addition to the church, there is a museum of artifacts found in the surrounding area . There is a charming little refreshment place that offered fresh squeezed juice, water and ice cream. Also , a separate tomb that houses the body of St Barnabas. Outside was a small market ( 3 tables) that were selling locally made souvenirs. Very much worth a visit.
Suzan M — Google review
Nice museum with a lot of a artifacts . It's a combination of a place of worship and a handwork exhibition. + A lot of to see (I could spend easily 45 minutes there, it's worth the money) + You can see a lot of handworks and paintings + The building has his own ambience + Well maintained facility - Toilet cost extra

Again, this was one of the many stops on our one-day sightseeing tour from Larnaca. This place is interesting. I don't know how much the entrance fee is as we had entry as part of a sightseeing day where we visited more places in Cyprus, but it was a nice and pleasant stop.

Lovely little monastery with lots of artefacts from the island dating as far as 7000 BC! Pottery, toys, tools are only fiew amongst much more items to enjoy! There is also a tomb of a St Barnabas in a small chappel next to the monastery, the man who lived in the times of Jesus!!! HISTORY LOVERS? BE PREPARED TO BE AMAZED BY THIS TINY PLACE HAVING SO MUCH TO OFFER! Top tip...There are Royal Tombs just down the road as well as the ancient city of Salamis just a fiew miles away! 🤘🏻

Beautiful route towards the monastery, the road leads into the valley to the church, which is totally hidden from the view. It used to be a monastery, but the cells around the church are no longer there. The church still has wallpaintings, some of them well preserved. There is an absolute silence at the church and surrounding yard. Well worth the visit. Recommended to check the visiting hours on the internet.

The road is pretty challenging to drive - we went up through Bahçesi. The route through Esentepe is less hair-raising. Beautiful views. The monastery was unfortunately closed when we arrived.

Tried to visit there 2 time. 1 time arrived at 5.30pm the other one at 2pm. At both, the place was closed. But the place it self is located in a very beautiful almost untouched nature. There are goats around there also.
Omid T — Google review
Antiphonitis Church used to be the centre of an influential monastery. It was once the premier Byzantine monument in the Kyrenia hills. Because of its unusual design, it is thought to have been built by local artists. The church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built in the 7th century. However the narthex to the west and the gallery to the south were added by the Lusignans in the 14th or 15th century. Considering its features, this building is one of the finest of its kind in Cyprus to survive to the present day. The cloister arrangement in the south is a unique example of gothic stone work. However, nothing remains of the wooden upper covering or the stone parapet between the columns. The building in its original form was fully covered with frescoes, most of which have unfortunately disappeared. Among the survivors, the Virgin Blachernitissa, with the figure of the Christ Child at her bosom and flanked by Gabriel and Michael, occupies the conch of the apse. Blachernitissa is unusual among Orthodox icons in that it is not flat, but is formed in bas relief. According to Sacred Tradition, the icon Blachernitissa was made of wax combined with the ashes of Christian martyrs who had been killed in the 6th century.

Larnaca Marina is a bustling hub for yacht cruises and diving excursions, offering outdoor dining with views of a popular beach. As the oldest city in Cyprus, Larnaca seamlessly blends its ancient roots with modern amenities, attracting tourists to its new international airport, capacity-filled marina, and beautiful beaches stretching over 25km. The marina is centrally located next to the lively Finikoudes Promenade and offers picturesque views of the Mediterranean Sea.
Probably the busiest place in the Larnaca! Sandy beach, restaurants like McDonald's, KFC and TGI Friday, cafes and local attractions like the holy church of St Lazarus, municipal market and Larnaca medieval fort. You can spend the whole day here either relaxing on the beach sunbathing or enjoying the excursions.
GU C — Google review
A not very big marina, with nothing out of the ordinary. Several dozen sailboats and other types of boats and a promenade where people can walk. There are no benches to sit on. Quite beautiful but common.
Paul C — Google review
A nice marina, with a small pier that enables you to look at the boats. Be aware that some of the planks are old, stick up, and are unsteady. You can not get much other access to the marina to see the boats any closer on foot. You can, however, get boat rides from here, and booking is at the start of the pier. The marina itself is clean and well kept. Parking can be found close by or a 10 minute walk from 2 car parks next to the bus station. Both are free. Toilets nearby on the beach. Worth a quick look if you're in the area.

I visited Larnaca in August 2024, and the weather was quite hot. I stayed about 15 km away from the town at the Murcure Larnaca Resort. While looking for a place to have dinner in the city, I discovered this area. I walked around for over an hour in the evening, and it wasn’t crowded, which made it very pleasant. The area is quite large, with boats, a beach, restaurants, and more. It’s worth exploring, but I recommend visiting Nissi Beach, which is too crowded but one of the most beautiful beaches in the World.
Muhammad C — Google review
We had an exceptional experience at Larnaca Marina. The marina is beautifully organized, well-run, and affordably priced. From the moment we arrived from the Suez Canal, the team provided a warm and welcoming reception. Giannis, the Marina Manager, was instrumental in ensuring a smooth experience, sending us all the necessary information via email. When we arrived, we contacted Stellios on the radio, and his instructions were clear and easy to follow. He and Athos met us at the fuel dock with smiles, took our lines, and escorted us to the customs and port police offices. The check-in process was super easy and efficient, thanks to Elena's kindness at the office reception. The team went above and beyond to assist us, even helping with our first stern tie. Athos took our lines, and Stellios was ready in the dinghy to lend a hand if needed. Given the marina's comfort and amenities, we decided to haul our boat out for hull maintenance. The lift process was seamless, with Georgios handling the travel lift and Mohammed ensuring everything was in place. What truly made our experience stand out was working with "Dino" and his colleague Kamil. Dino's business offers a wide range of services for boat exteriors, and his work is stellar. Both Dino and Kamil take immense pride in their work, and it shows. They became like friends and coaches to us, offering valuable advice and support throughout our stay. We were sad to leave Larnaca Marina but happy to set sail with our boat looking better than ever. The marina's daily rates are very affordable compared to other European ports, making it an excellent choice for sailors. We highly recommend Larnaca Marina to anyone looking for a well-run and welcoming port.

The Holy Church of Saint Lazarus is a restored 9th-century Byzantine stone church located in the center of Larnaca. It houses a remarkable gold-plated iconostasis and is dedicated to Lazarus of Bethany, who, according to legend, lived in Larnaca for 30 years and was its first bishop after being resurrected by Jesus.
Many have already written the historical,  religious and architectural significances of this small but magnificent church. I stayed longer than I expected because I invited myself to a beautiful wedding. During the wedding service, the church still let people in for the visit to the tomb of Saint Lazarus. I suppose it always happens. If a wedding happens to take place during your visit, don't leave. It's such a sweet experience.
Joyce . — Google review
From an architectural standpoint it’s a very pretty building and the interior is spectacular. I didn’t take any photos as I didn’t know if it was appropriate or not as it is an active church. But the paintings and reliefs inside are quite unique. And the building itself has a great history that’s interesting to learn about as someone who’s not tied to the Christian faith. The surrounding neighborhood is very quaint and has many good shops and restaurants/cafes.
Sam F — Google review
This is amazing Church is a must visit if you are in the area. Beautiful structural architecture on the outside and inside to the amazing things you will see when you enter. If you can try and be covered up because there is a sign outside saying no shorts for men and women should ideally have their hair and shoulders covered but they do have robes for free on the outside to cover just in case you forget. Situated in the church are the most amazing icon pictures all over and the whole church is almost covered in gold. It is a particularly busy church with tourists in and out at all times. When you enter there is a lower two level where Lazarus bones used to be kept before they were moved, but his tomb still remains.
Toby H — Google review
Hearing about this church and seeing some of the photos doesn’t really prepare you for the experience and history you are about to feel walking up to and inside this master of a monument. The outside is stunning, well preserved and sits on a lovely open space. When you enter it is very typical of a Greek church and lovely. Make sure you visit the tombs also under the church.

Beautiful church, very peaceful! We went there around at 1400 and it was closed. Advise to check the opening hours before you go. It opens in afternoon at 1530 but if you are there early, there are few souvenir shops that you can visit, enjoy lunch, take photographs, enough things to keep you occupied.

Went in April, no Flamingo. Learned from the local that they only come to salt lake between Nov and Mar. If you go in other months, the lake view is still enjoyable, just no need to feel disappointed or not seeing any bird.
Ang S — Google review
Beautiful lake, flamingos can be seen only in the cold season. Visited in November and the water looked like a mirror, with lots of flamingos. Definitely worth visiting. Do not walk off the path, it'll startle the birds. There are 2 observation decks at the lake. You can get there with public transport.
Aleksandra Ł — Google review
It's very nice to visit although flamingos weren't there🥹
Драганић С — Google review
Larnaca Salt Lake fills with water during the winter and dries up in the summer to reveal a salt crust. This natural cycle attracts large flocks of migratory birds. Thousands of flamingos arrive from November to feed on the shrimp that thrive in the salt water.
Vivienne T — Google review
Pink flamingos 🦩 visit the lake in winter. When I visited in mid November there were 2 big groups. Should bring a good camera to get a good picture. However you can walk around and enjoy the views. Various parking around the lake.
Paul H — Google review
I visited it in November, and there were no birds, no water. Just a mud and salt. Large area covered by mud and salt. The guide said in winter there will be a lot of flamingo and water. It is located near Hala Sultan mosque.
David Z — Google review
Nice place for a walk alongside the salt lake, where you can watch the flamingos and other water birds. Great view of the Hala Sultan Tekkesi - this place has a ridiculous number of cute cats, it must be their sanctuary. There is several benches throughout the path, ideal to contemplate those magnificent birds.

Hala Sultan Tekke is a significant Muslim pilgrimage site located on the western shore of Larnaca Salt Lake. This historic landmark is surrounded by a beautiful garden and holds religious importance as it is believed to be the burial place of Umm Haram, Prophet Mohammed's foster mother. The city of Larnaca offers a blend of historical and cultural attractions, including ancient ruins, churches, and festivals like Kataklysmos.
Very beautiful, quiet and mysterious place with old legend about Holy woman who was a relative of Muhammad accidentally dead this area. There is the Tomb of her behind the Mosque. We are absolutely alone, only one person was in the entrance. The entrance is free.
Evgenia K — Google review
Very nice mosque, I think it has been forgotten by the state, isn’t as clean and good looking as it was once upon a time. I hope it changes, but from a historic perspective it was very nice to see that it is still an active worship place. I feel like they should clean the name board of the mosque, it was full of dust…
Khan — Google review
It's nothing you haven't seen before, but it's worth the time, we couldn't go in due to our belief, but the gardens were really nice and well-maintained. I would also recommend walking along the salt lake path in summer and in winter...overall, not a bad experience, but nothing crazy.
Liav M — Google review
Placed by salt lake, good time to sit on the bench and relax for the while. If flamingo 🦩 season -> extra special. If want to visit mosque than good dress is mandatory 😉
Miroslav J — Google review
It is slightly off the beaten track but is still worth the effort to visit as it is a very nice mosque indeed. Perhaps it isn't as clean as it may have been in the past but still it was OK. Our only mistake was that my wife was not dressed properly and was refused entry. and so many stray cats around .... not pleasant.
Norm P — Google review
Beautiful setting by the edge of the Salt Lake. Peaceful and scenic place, especially around sunset. Remember: ladies must wear full-length pants covered clothing to enter — no entry otherwise.
Parul A — Google review
The Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, which is very beautiful, is located near the salt lake. It is essential to wear an appropriate long dress; otherwise, entry will not be permitted.
G V — Google review
This mosque has been described as the third holiest place for Muslims in the world (some say the fourth, after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem). During the Ottoman Empire, Ottoman-flagged ships would hang their flags at half mast when off the shores of Larnaca, and salute Hala Sultan with cannon shots. The mosque was built over the grave of Umm Haram, who was believed to be the sister of the Prophet Mohammed’s foster mother.

Located in Mazotos, Cyprus, Camel Park is a must-visit attraction for families. The park offers the chance to feed camels, deer, goats, and other animals with carob purchased at the entrance. Visitors can also enjoy interacting with lemurs in their enclosure and even have the opportunity to ride camels. Additionally, there are various activities for children including a playground, bouncy house, bumper cars, and pony rides. The friendly staff ensures an enjoyable experience for all visitors.
The park is beautifully clean, with a restaurant and swimming pool. The camels are friendly and funny, and you can feed them with food from the ticket hall. The animals are well-cared for, and the staff are very nice, especially Maria and Elisabet from the ticket hall. It was a pleasant surprise that the 7€ ticket also included access to the swimming pool and sunbathing area. For sure it is a must to visit if you come to Cyprus.
Mel — Google review
We stopped here before going to the airport, as it was very close by car. The park is very beautiful with a few extra types of animals besides the many camels. It's a beautiful park, full of greenery, benches, a swimming pool, a terrace with very polite and kind people. I noticed that it's a good place for children because they have something to do. I recommend the orange cake and ice cream which is not very sweet and is the best dessert eaten in Crete and frozen lemonade.
Clau T — Google review
Camel Park in Mazotos is a must-visit experience! The kids will absolutely love it, and the prices are very affordable. The whole experience is fantastic for both kids and adults. Camels are the main attraction, but there’s also a fun lemur cage where you can go inside and feed them. On top of that, you can enjoy the pool, the kids’ playground, and even take a safari tour to see and feed the camels up close. A perfect family day out!
TonY N — Google review
Just spent a lovely couple of hours here. We fed the camels and donkeys on the way round. Had a dance with an ostrich. Cuddled the lemurs. The food in the cafe/restaurant was very good too. Friendly staff and a great experience 😊

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Where camels meet chaos and everyone wins! 🐪 Absolutely brilliant day out at Camel Park Larnaca! This place is like someone took a zoo, playground, and working camel farm, threw them in a blender, and somehow created magic instead of mayhem. The camel rides are genuinely fantastic - these gorgeous creatures are surprisingly gentle and the staff clearly know their stuff. Kids were absolutely mesmerised, and honestly, so were the adults 😍 The little ones can feed the animals safely, which is always a winner for keeping everyone engaged. What sets this place apart is the variety - when the kids got restless from animal watching, boom! Proper playground equipment to burn off energy. The mix keeps families happy for hours without anyone getting bored. Staff were lovely, genuinely passionate about the animals and patient with endless questions. Facilities were clean, plenty of shade (crucial in Cyprus!), and parking was easy peasy. Top tip: Bring a hat and water, but don't stress about snacks - their little café does the job perfectly. Go early morning or late afternoon for the best animal activity and cooler temperatures! 🌡️ Pure family gold! 🏆
Tom D — Google review
I had a great time feeding the camels and Fred (that’s how I named the Emu). The smell is quite strong when you first enter the park, but you quickly get used to it. Actually, that’s the same smell you notice when arriving at the airport in Cyprus, since the Camel Park is nearby. Buying the food bags is 100% worth it to feed the animals. I had only tried carobs after my visit there, in chocolate, so I was amazed to see what a tasty treat the camels were getting.
Sfabu A — Google review
Absolutely loved Camel Park Mazotos! 🐪🌴 Clean, well-kept, and perfect for a relaxed day out. The camel rides are fun and safe, feeding the animals is adorable, and there’s so much more — mini zoo, playground, and even a pool to cool off. Staff are welcoming and prices fair. Great stop for families, couples, or anyone wanting a unique Cyprus experience
Chira I — Google review
A very nice place. The only downside was the very short time we could spend with the lemurs. Two adults and a two-year-old child cost €10, and we spent four minutes with the lemurs. Other than that, everything was fine.

Bellapais Abbey, also known as The Abbey of Peace, is a picturesque 13th-century monastery located near Kyrenia in Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus. Originally built by the Lusignans for monks who fled Jerusalem, the abbey has a rich history and stunning Gothic architecture. Despite being looted and desecrated during various occupations, it remains a serene and peaceful destination for visitors seeking rest and relaxation.
Bellapais Abbey is a magical place where history, architecture, and stunning views come together as one. Located in the picturesque village of Bellapais on the mountainside, this medieval abbey impresses with its Gothic architecture, majestic arches, and serene atmosphere. Walking among the ancient walls, you can feel the breath of centuries and the grandeur of bygone eras. From here, there is a breathtaking view of the Kyrenia coast, especially beautiful at sunset. In the evenings, classical music concerts are held here, creating a truly enchanting ambiance. Bellapais Abbey is a place to visit to experience the harmony of history, nature, and art.

A beautiful ruins to look around. We did a tour which we found informative whilst walking around and appreciating the architecture of the building and ground. Finish off our visit with a fresh cold drink at the cafe by the entrance. 8 minute walk uphill from the car park where our coach dropped us off.

Worth a visit for sure. Parking may be tricky but great gothic half ruined architecture. The mountain backdrop makes for a dramatic scene. You can see everything in about half an hour
Leonard S — Google review
The ruins of a former monastery. They still house a small church. All in all, nothing "wow"... The area is beautiful, clean, full of greenery and flowers. In addition, from the monastery courtyard you have a very beautiful panorama, with the sea and Kyrenia visible in the distance. There is also a restaurant, adjacent to the monastery.

Bit different from the normal ruins. The restaurant, bar and cafe is attached to the abbey so I felt a bit strange but it's a popular place for locals because of that. Therefore there is shuttle bus service, 30 TL for a single ticket, very easy access and a nice view. There are nice hotels and restaurants. You can take a bus from a big parking space. There's some signboards there.

Büyük Han

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Located in North Nicosia, Cyprus, Büyük Han is a prime example of medieval Ottoman craftsmanship and architecture. Built in the early 1570s at the request of the island's first Ottoman governor, it has undergone recent renovations and now hosts traditional shops and handicraft workshops. Originally a caravanserai for weary travelers along the Silk Road, Büyük Han is now a celebrated landmark and arts and crafts market with a central café.
Büyük Han is an absolutely charming and truly remarkable place to visit. Stepping inside feels like travelling back in time, as it beautifully showcases the old Cypriot culture and traditional architecture. The historic stone courtyard, lined with little shops and artisan workshops, creates a warm and authentic atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere. It’s a wonderful spot to wander around, soak up the history, and enjoy a coffee or traditional sweets while surrounded by centuries-old arches and stone walls. Every corner tells a story, and you can really feel the heritage of the island here. Whether you’re interested in history, local crafts, or simply want to experience the unique charm of old Cyprus, Büyük Han is an absolute must-visit.

Büyük Han is a must-visit.

Built in 1572 by the Ottomans, supposedly to celebrate the successful taking over of the islands from the Venetians, the Buyuk Han (the Great Inn in Turkish) is now a large bazaar on the Turkish Cypriot side of Nicosia / Lefkosia, with a small mosque in its centre. It has that singular oriental vibe imbued within it, so visiting it is a truly specific experience highly recommended to anyone visiting the northern part of the divided city. Some very interesting items are on display that can be bought here for very affordable prices. Although, if you're supposed to cross the border over back to the southern side, I'm not sure whether there would be any issues with the border patrol. Still, a site very much worth visiting.
Nikola R — Google review
Büyük Han is one of the most impressive historical landmarks in the heart of Nicosia. Built in 1572 during the Ottoman period, it is beautifully preserved and offers a real sense of history. The courtyard is wide and atmospheric, surrounded by stone arches and traditional architecture. Inside, there are small artisan shops, souvenir stores, and cozy cafés. Sitting in the courtyard with a coffee is a very relaxing experience. The entrance is free, and the location is very central, just a short walk from Ledra Street and the main attractions of the old town. It can get busy on weekends, so coming earlier in the day is a good idea. Overall, it’s both a cultural and relaxing spot — definitely a must-visit for anyone coming to North Cyprus.
Aren S — Google review
An unexpected surprise! The han is superbly renovated with small artisanal shops all over. We loved its vibe and the fact that you can get a coffee inside as well (even though those umbrellas look awful)

Ledra street checkpoint.

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ledra Street border crossing, located in Nicosia, is a significant checkpoint between the Greek and Turkish parts of the city. Since the demolition of the wall in 2008, UN peacekeeping soldiers now patrol this area. Visitors can walk into the northern part of the city by presenting their passports to immigration officials. The atmosphere here carries a sense of melancholy due to its historical significance. Once across, tourists will find an array of shops offering various brands at affordable prices.
During my trip to Cyprus, the highlight was visiting Nicosia, the world's last divided capital. Walking around the city, you can sense the deep history and the effects of the 1974 conflict between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, which resulted in the creation of the UN buffer zone called the Green Line. As you follow the Green Line, you’ll see guard posts, bunkers, barriers, barbed wire, and soldiers, all clear signs of the division. However, you’ll also come across beautiful churches, historic buildings, and the Archbishop’s Palace, which add cultural depth to the experience. Crossing the Green Line, you’ll notice a shift in culture. Ledra Street, a lively shopping area, provides a cheerful contrast to the more serious atmosphere along the Green Line. You can easily spend half a day wandering through the old city, enjoying the mix of history and modern life. If you’re up for it, you can cross the Green Line at one of the approved points to explore the northern part of the city via Ledra Street.
Muhammad C — Google review
Very interesting crossing point from the Greek part to the Turkish part of Nicosia.Friendly officers that check your passport on both the Greek and Turkish zones of Cyprus. It is known as the only divided capital in the world as shown above Greek Cypriot Police Checkpoint on the sign above.Very different on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus. Many different shops selling lot's of different brands at very cheap prices.Fascinating and intriguing being on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus.Only there very briefly for around 30 mins due to tight connection with Intercity bus from Nicosia to Limassol although I very much enjoyed the experience very much.
Suhail K — Google review
Now this is a good experience. For those of you that are interested. Travelled from the Turkish side (trnc) much more to see on this side than the south. You can more or less travel the green line. Passports have to be shown now to cross both ways. Not as good as 10 years ago as things on the northern side weren’t done up (cafes etc). History lovers will love it
John S — Google review
Very easy to get either way once through into north there are lots of shops and eating places much cheaper than the greek side coffees for 1 euro. No photos of actual crossing point as its illegal. They accept all currencies so no need to change money

The Shipwreck Museum, located within the impressive Kyrenia Castle, is a historical gem that offers a glimpse into the rich past of Cyprus. Originally built by the Byzantines in the 7th century to defend against Arab raids, this castle has undergone numerous transformations over the centuries. The Venetians added defensive walls and towers, contributing to its formidable appearance.
Currently on display is the wreck of the oldest recovered merchant ship, dating back to around 300 BC.
Pekula C — Google review
A small museum, housed by Kyrenia Castle. Not very spectacular, with a slightly amateurish air. You can see the remains of the small wreck and some objects from the ship (amphorae, ceramics, tools). You need 20-30 minutes for the visit.
Paul C — Google review
It’s a small museum, very well designed, except for the viewing area of the wreck itself. They have a narrow walkway around the wreck, and a bench. It’s uncomfortable if it’s crowded. It’s a great historical treasure.
Richard K — Google review
Small Museum packed with fascinating artifacts... The Shipwreck Museum houses the remains and cargo of what was once the oldest shipwreck ever discovered and raised. At almost 2,400 years old, the Ancient Greek trading vessel and its cargo provide a rare insight into life during the time of Alexander the Great. Kyrenia Castle alone is more than worth a visit, so if you're here, be sure to take an hour to tour this little museum,
Sasch M — Google review
The museum is not big, but visiting it might have some educational value for kids and adolescents. There are the remnants of the ship and a few amphoras. Frankly speaking, I deem that there is nothing special to stay inside for more than 15 minutes.

The museum is inside the kyrenia kalesi. They have original items that the wrecked ship carried about 2300 years ago. They also house the ships wooden hull but the entrance to see this is small and get a bit crowded as they have one door for entry and exit.

Girne Castle is undoubtedly a beautiful and fascinating place. Its history, architecture, and the view of the harbor are all truly impressive. Walking through its ancient halls and standing on its walls overlooking the sea made me feel like I was touching the layers of history that have shaped our island. But as a Greek-Cypriot, visiting this castle also stirred deep emotions. I couldn’t help but feel like a stranger in my own homeland—a feeling that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. There’s a quiet sadness that comes from knowing how divided we are, despite sharing the same island, the same sun, and the same humanity. One day, I truly hope to see a Cyprus where people from both sides treat each other with more kindness, respect, and understanding.

This fortress was much bigger than what I expected. It definitely worth to visit if you are in Girne. It was a bit dirty with empty cans and water bottles everywhere. I hope the staff (and visitors) pay a bit more attention to keep it clean.

Great big castle to visit. Tickets can be brought at the entrance. Hot weather can make it hard to go around, but definitely recommend going to the top of the castle for amazing views. Little cafe at the middle of the castle serving food, coffee and cold drinks, unfortunately my food arrived 20 minutes after my partners and you have to pay extra to use the toilets in the castle which I found odd as you use the cafe an pay entrance fee to the castle. Make sure to check out the Ancient Shipwreck Museum, housed within Kyrenia Castle. Not much maintenance in the castle as it’s common to see cigarette butts or rubbish on the floor.
Gizem Y — Google review
The most impressive castle in Cyprus, although even that is not very well preserved. It houses a small archaeological museum dedicated to a small, very old wreck. Otherwise, nothing remarkable. All you can do is walk along the dilapidated walls and admire the panorama, which is quite beautiful. In the inner courtyard there is also a small kiosk with a terrace, where you can have a drink.

It has become much better here, because repairs have recently been made, the areas where cafes and restaurants are located have been expanded, and it is convenient to walk here. There are yachts and boats all around. You can book a yacht or pleasure boat tour, with lunch or dinner. Built by the Byzantines in the 8th century and later expanded with a monastery and church, it offers breathtaking views of the northern coastline from its hilltop location. The castle's strategic position allowed for surveillance and defense against potential threats.
Be aware of the closing times especially in the winter. The climb is not easy, so wear good shoes. If you make it to the top the view is breathtaking. There’s so much history here. The parking lot is small, so good luck. The cafe is nice, and during the summer they have a cafe in the castle. The walk up is very long and tiring, definitely take a breather now and then when climbing up the stairs to get to the peak. Beautiful views and well preserved. Only downside is that the Turkish Army closed it down early the day we went for something so we did rush a little.

Beautiful place. Shame that people don’t respect the no smoking and no littering signs. Also be wary of cafe .. asked for a Turkish coffee as had just seen them make one .. only to be told no.. only coffee available is from the espresso machine at €3 a cup. On leaving saw more customers having Turkish coffee.. definitely feel like it was a ‘tourist tax’ .. ..so be warned 😡

We got in just nefore 3pm and we're told to get down to the ticket office by 4pm. Tho on the outside signboard it says last entray 4.30pm That's apparently not the case today. This seems to do with it being part of the military base So changes to opening time can occur at anytime without notice. The view was really pretty we first went to john's church/chapel then we went to the peak 734m above sea level. The walk up there was not hard. I'd rate it medium difficulty tops. The road is a bit uneven and can be slippery after rains So make sure you wear proper shoes for that. We got to the top around 3.35 So 30-35min is enough for a person who is moderately fit to get up and we got down just before 4pm. Made a few other stops to see the beautiful queens' window too. We didn't visit the cistern next to the beautiful Windows unfortunately as we ran out of time. I think 1.5-2hrs is probably good for here. 1hr is a bit short. There doesn't seem to be public transport here whatsoever. We got a taxi up there and when to the monastery then back to town for 70euros...

Lots of people have wondered how accessible it is for older, less abled folks to access the castle. I visited yesterday & I am 71. Yes I am very fit for my age but for such an awesome setting do NOT let other misleading reviews stop you going. The castle is easily accessed from the car park where a little cafe is located. It's currently,50 tl entrance (just over a £1) & even just inside there is the most incredible view of Kyrenia. The steps for levels 1 & 2 are perfectly adequate & not very tough (see pictures) if you do not venture inside the first lookout towers which are more of a challenge. The are some awesome things to see within the first two levels like the Byzantine Church. There is also a super little cafe with an amazing view of the north coast at Kyrenia, selling their refreshing lemonade (& mocktails) & a small selection of small gifts & postcards. Now there is the third level to explore & I spent 90 mins on that level it's astounding! Again see pictures of steps & now I would say you have to be reasonably fit or very determined if a slow ascent is within your capabilities. There are astounding parts like the royal apartments with amazing views but the higher up you go the more arduous it gets until the pinnacle of the summit at 732m. some 333' higher than the car park. Steps are a lot more uneven but with care & a firm grip of the handrails it's achievable. Various pictures illustrate some of my descriptions. Some reviews talk about unstable poor handrails, this is not the case they were all solid & firm & reassuring. Some people describe litter plastic bottles etc. Well the castle has provided loads of do not litter, pop in a bin signs but there will always be the mindless uncaring idiots who ignore this, don't let it distract you off visiting. It's an awesome feat of human achievement to the highest level & it has been there a 1000 years. The road 3 miles from the dual carriageway can be accessed from the dual carriageway in either direction despite what Google maps might show (I came from Kyrenia & turned right) & the road shows a few hairpin bends, again don't let this put you off, they are wide & easily driven. What more can I say except done let a visit pass you by if you are anywhere near. Allow 4 hours if you want to visit & photograph every nook & cranny! Hope the photos help you make the right decision, Go Go Go, it's awesome!

Well worth visiting, magnificent views, but you need to be reasonably fit to make the climb. You need good balance. Not for children under 12 yrs of age.

Worth a visit. Entrance cheap 1 eur. Takes 2 hours at least to see all, so don't expect to see and go quickly. Enjoy and feel. Lot of hiking - which is good, but even old people made it..

Beautiful. The hike to the top might be challenging for some people but well worth it for the fantastic views. Wear shoes with good grip. Probably our favourite spot on Cyprus.

Really nice contact Zoo. We have visited this place so many times and we will visit it again and again. Our little ones just love to feed animals :). The entrance fee is reasonable, food for animals can be bought for just 1 Eur, food in the restaurant is good, and there is a large playground too. You can easily spend all afternoon there. The best Zoo in Cyprus!

Amazing place! The zoo is actually quite big - we thought we came for a short time, but spent here 1.5 hrs. And some species I didn’t see anywhere else. Will be interesting for small kids, parents and teenagers as well! 😍

Honestly it was fun exploring but i will tell u my problems one of the animals teeth was broken no one took care of it the paws of the horse needed cutting no one took care of it(maby it wasnt noticed just yet cant judge) overall tho terrible care for animals maby bec its new and they need more workers and such i mean they lack some animals to 1 star for me being an animal lover exploring a new place and the other star was bec my little cousin enjoyed it but im rating real here as what u call Zoo in other places are better then this overal that i saw but i wish this place more success i just hope animals got better care One more problem is the animals barely had descriptions of what they are their species and habitats which im an animal nerd ik but what about other people who are curious and most who had it gott burned by the sun so they could do something about that I likethe concept of them giving lettice throughout the journey to feed herbivore animals and the price is pretty cheap for now altough this doesnt still count as extra stars bec of the flaws not to mention wild cats was in dry cages with no trees

My family and I went here today. It was great. There were lots of animals, all in great condition, which shows they take good care of them. We even saw a tiger, which was amazing! Worth a visit!

Very cheap price! And dont forget toget lettuce to feed the animals (lettuce is 1 euro for one) and animals are well fed and sometimes you see lemours outside just hanging out and theres capybaras camels lamas horses cows donkeys and more i recommend going there!

This is not good luckily my children are too small to see anything but the lovely animals, they are lovely animals being kept in poor conditions. Greeted by a camel with horrific eye problem he couldn’t even open them. Overcrowding, injury’s and clear sickness in the bird enclosure. Large animals in small cages with nothing in them. People feeding lettuce to animals that don’t eat lettuce. You can get up to the cages with the lions, bears and bob cats. Overall a sad experience

The zoo steadily improves from year to year! It has many species which are kept in good condition and bring joy to the visitors. The zoo is very well equipped, has a café and benches along the pathways to relax and watch the animals. We always spend a whole day there and want to return more. Thank you very much for these wonderful moments!

Visited the zoo recently and found it to be a wonderful experience. It's home to a wide range of animals that seem eager for interaction, especially during feeding times. The entrance fee is quite affordable at 5€ per person. You also have the option to purchase salad for 1€, which you can use to feed the animals - a delightful activity that I recommend. The zoo offers an engaging and interactive experience, making it ideal for animal enthusiasts of all ages.
