Shree Daksheshwar Mahadev - Daksh Prajapati Temple is a vibrant and significant Hindu temple situated near the River Ganges. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds historical importance related to the tale of King Daksha, Sati, and Lord Shiva.
The temple where Mata sati was born and also the same place where she jumped into the hawan kund, when mahadev is insulted by his father. After listening to this that Mata sati is no more mahadev incarnate veerbhadra one of his most aggressive and powerful entity and command him to kill prajapati daksh, and also command him if any God, Gandharva, army, demi God came up in his way then also kill them but don't stop.. so veerbhadra defeated the whole army and tear them like a piece of paper and killed the prajapati daksh by his single attack and separate his head from his body. After that mahadeb took Mata sati body and roamed in the entire world here and there , and seeing this lord Vishnu start cutting Mata sati body in many parts and each part fallen down on earth and where the all 108 pieces are fall are today's known as shaktipeeth..

Where Divinity Meets Eternity – Daksheswar Mahadev Temple, Kankhal In the serene heart of Kankhal, Haridwar, lies Daksheswar Mahadev Temple — more than just a temple, it is a place where myth and divinity quietly breathe as one. This sacred site holds deep significance in Hindu mythology, marking the place where King Daksha performed his yajna and where Goddess Sati, overcome with grief and devotion, surrendered herself to the sacred fire. The temple echoes the divine tale of Lord Shiva’s sorrow, the creation of Virbhadra, and the eternal love between Shiva and Sati — a story of cosmic energy, sacrifice, and spiritual union. Even today, the energy here is palpable — peaceful yet deeply powerful. As you walk through the temple’s corridors, you don’t just witness devotion… you feel it. The gentle chimes of the bells, the fragrance of incense, and the chants in the air transport you to another realm. It’s a place where time slows down, where the heart feels light, and where the spirit quietly bows. A must-visit for every spiritual traveler, devotee, or seeker of divine peace. Daksheswar Mahadev Temple is not just a destination — it’s a divine moment carved into the heart of Haridwar. Beautifully located on the top of the mountain with Har Ki Pouri beneath it. The road ,if you go walking, is all winding and will take a long time to reach the top. There is cable car service which is pretty crowded but well organised and takes you up in minutes. The view on the way up or down is awesome, with Ganga stretching out for a very very long distance, the Har Ki Pouri, the bridges, etc you can see and the majestic mountains surrounding the area. The temple was quite crowded and people were unruly pushing and pulling, no crowd control as such. Even the darshan was difficult as people were pushing from the back. Apart from the crowd control rest is good. Jai maa Mansa Devi. 🙏

mansadevi Temple is a peaceful and beautiful place in Haridwar. The view from the top is really nice and you can go by ropeway or by walking. Water and sitting facilities are available at almost every turn which helps a lot while climbing. No photography is allowed inside the temple and there are no entry charges. A proper shoe stand is also available. The temple feels very spiritual and calm.

Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar is one of the most popular and sacred temples, beautifully located on the Shivalik hills overlooking the Ganga and Har Ki Pauri. Devotees can reach the temple either by walking on the winding path or by using the ropeway (Udan Khatola), which offers a stunning aerial view of the city and river. The temple gets quite crowded, especially during festivals, but the atmosphere remains deeply spiritual. Facilities like water points and sitting areas are available. Photography isn’t allowed inside. A must-visit for peace and divine blessings.

✨ Beautiful and peaceful experience at Maa Mansa Devi Temple. The temple is very well-maintained, and the darshan was smooth with no waiting time. The surroundings felt serene, and the overall vibe was truly divine. A must-visit for anyone coming to Haridwar. Highly recommended for a calm and spiritually uplifting experience. 🙏✨
Amit K — Google review
The cable car was a very good experience and offered good views. Keep hold of the ticket if you buy return. The temple complex is very cramped and offers no outside areas (unless you walk up??) The cable car waiting area was not full and the snack outlets in the temple were not open ,I assume it was a less than busy time so I dread to think how claustrophobic it would be when super busy! Shoe stand at entrance. Negotiating each little temple section without being dragged in easier as a westerner but do keep an eye on the rest of the group as we waited ages for" Tail End Charlie "at the the shoe stand on the way out!!
Musicians M — Google review
The temple is located on top of a hill accessed by a ropeway. There is some 15 minutes wait for the ropeway on crowded days. The charges are ₹190 per person and you can book ropeway for Chandi Devi temple too at a discounted package rate here. There is a sloping walkway also available. The views from the ropeway is breathtaking, but the approach to it is through narrow lanes in between houses and dilapidated structures. The Q system was good till the final steps to the temple. Then it became crowded and unruly, maybe due to Diwali week. You can buy some Prasad along the Queue which will be offered to the Goddess and given back. There is a place to keep footwear after the ropeway ride.

Perched atop the Neel Parvat in the Shivalik Hills, Shri Maa Chandi Devi Temple is a historic Hindu pilgrimage site with a rich legacy. Built in 1929, it is believed to house an ancient idol of the goddess dating back to the 8th century. The temple attracts devotees year-round and is known as a Siddha Peetha, where worshippers seek fulfillment of their desires.
Chandi devi temple located at hilltop of Neel Parvat was memorable experience. We went by ropeway to enjoy bird's eye view of Haridwar, Ganda river and surrounding hills. Early Morning Trekking is also good option to enjoy panaramic view. You can either buy combo of Mansa devi and chandi devi temple the only thing is you should be able to reach both temples on the same day if there's no long queues then it's easy. When we went in 2022 combo charges 324 rs per person while only chandi devi temple ticket charges 195 rs per person. Temple is clean and well maintained. Temple premises contains idols of lord kali ma, sankat mochan hanuman, Maa Annapurna, Santoshi Maa etc. This siddhpeeth is heavy crowded on festive like Navratri and holiday season. There are waiting halls at each levels and quite nice dining cafe inside and children game area to spend sometime. You'll find beautiful dress photography studies at all places in haridwar rishikesh masoorie.

We visited Maa Chandi Devi Temple and had a wonderful spiritual and scenic experience. We went up using the ropeway, which was truly enjoyable — the short 5-minute ride offered beautiful views of the mountains and the surrounding greenery. It felt peaceful and refreshing. After reaching the top, we took the blessings of Maa Chandi Devi, and also visited the nearby Hanuman, Anjana Mata, and Santoshi Mata temples. The place has a divine atmosphere, and the entire visit felt serene and fulfilling. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for both spiritual seekers and nature lovers. The combination of the ropeway ride and the temple’s peaceful ambiance makes it a memorable experience.

Ma Chandi Devi Mandir, located on the beautiful Neel Parvat hill in Haridwar, is one of the most sacred and enchanting temples in Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi, this temple is not only a significant spiritual destination but also a place that fills the heart with peace and devotion. According to mythology, the temple marks the site where Goddess Chandi defeated the demons Chanda and Munda, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The journey to the temple itself is memorable. Devotees can either trek up the hill or take the ropeway (Udan Khatola), which is an experience in itself. The ropeway offers a magnificent panoramic view of the Ganga River, the lush green forests, and the entire city of Haridwar. As you ascend, the cool breeze and scenic beauty make the ride truly mesmerizing. It feels as if you’re floating above nature’s divine canvas. The temple premises are clean, well-maintained, and radiate positive energy. The aura of the Goddess, combined with the chants of devotees, creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Visiting Ma Chandi Devi Mandir is not just a religious trip—it’s a soulful experience that connects you with faith, nature, and inner peace. A must-visit place for anyone coming to Haridwar.
Himanshu K — Google review
The ropeway to Chandi Devi Temple offers stunning aerial views of Haridwar, the Ganga river, and surrounding hills. The ride is smooth, safe, and takes just a few minutes to reach the top. A great experience for all age groups and totally worth it for the scenic views alone.
Joyita S — Google review
The temple is peaceful and worth visiting, but the overall management is poor. Ropeway waiting time is 1–2 hours and the area is overcrowded. Biggest issue is returning without your own vehicle — auto drivers refuse to go unless their big autos are full, making tourists wait for hours. Strongly recommend visiting only if you have your own transport. We recently visited Chandi Devi Temple in Haridwar and while the temple itself is serene and spiritually uplifting, the overall experience left us disappointed due to poor management around the visit. To reach the temple, you need to take the tram (ropeway) service, but the waiting time is extremely long — anywhere between 1–2 hours. The starting point for the tram is overcrowded, which makes the wait even more uncomfortable. There are some small shops for souvenirs, snacks, and games, but that doesn’t balance the chaos. Once you reach the top, there is a small hike via stairway to the temple. The stairs are divided into two sides — one for going up (which is in good condition) and one for coming down (which is poorly maintained and quite difficult to walk on). All of this could still be manageable, but the biggest problem starts when you have to return to your hotel or onward destination without your own vehicle. The auto drivers outside act like goons — they refuse to take passengers unless their large autos are filled completely, or you hire the entire vehicle even if you’re a single person. When I asked small auto drivers, they said they’re afraid of the big ones as they get threatened or beaten if they pick up customers from there. We ended up waiting more than an hour just to get back, which completely ruined the experience. The temple is worth visiting, but I strongly recommend going with your own vehicle. The authorities really need to step in and resolve this transportation issue, as it’s making tourists suffer unnecessarily.
Anshita — Google review

Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh is a significant spiritual site located on the banks of the Ganges River. It is considered the biggest and busiest ghat along the river, holding immense religious importance for Hindus. The evening Aarti, known as Maha Aarti, is a pure and sacred ritual that attracts many devotees. This ghat is renowned for its serene ambiance during early morning hours when visitors can witness the tranquil beauty of sunrise and experience a profound sense of peace.
Must visit place when you are travelling to Rushikesh. The aarti at Triveni ghat is a devotional experience. Reach early to get a good spot for attending the aarti. In winter months aarti starts around 6pm. After the aarti there is Bhajan where one can enjoy the spiritual connection.

I have vitnessed almost all famous aartis of GANGAJI at Haridwar and Rishikesh during the trip but Aarti at Triveni Ghat is One of the best Gangaji Aarti I have. View of Sunset is just refreshing. And only Aarti where everyone is allowed to do Aarti at Free of cost by the management. Management themselves provide Aarti thalis to many people and they shares thalis with each other so each and everyone can enjoy and participate at Aarti. And story doesn't ends here, Bhajan starts after Aarti and surely you will get goosebumps if you have vitnessed the joy. In short don't miss it if you are visiting Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Truly one of the best spiritual experiences of my life. Felt divine and calm attending the Ganga Aarti here. Too much crowded and if you need good places to sit, consider reaching there early. After Ganga Aarti you can sit at the ghats enjoying the peace and serenity.

Triveni Ghat in Rishikesh is a beautiful and peaceful place to experience the true spirit of the Ganga. The atmosphere here is calm in the mornings and truly divine during the evening Ganga Aarti. Watching the lamps floating on the river with the sound of chants feels magical. The area is well-maintained, and you can sit by the river to relax or take a holy dip. It’s one of those places where you feel peace and positivity all around. A must-visit spot for anyone traveling to Rishikesh.

Triveni Ghat is a truly spiritual and beautiful destination in Rishikesh. The evening Ganga Aarti is mesmerizing, with soulful chants and vibrant rituals that create an uplifting atmosphere. Sitting by the banks of the Ganges surrounded by mountains, you feel tremendous peace and positive energy. It can get crowded during the Aarti, so arrive early to get a good spot. The whole experience — from the holy dip in the river to the aarti and the nearby temples — makes Triveni Ghat a must-visit for anyone seeking serenity and divine vibes in Rishikesh.

Its a amazing experience to see ganga aarti there. Ghat is also good and clean. Maybe ut could be little bit crowded depending on any special occasion. But still it look peaceful.
Prashant K — Google review
Well managed. Entry is started at 5 pm for the Arti at 6 pm. Orderly queue is started at 5. People pay to offer 'special' puja, and they're allowed to/ are conducted fpr puja before the Aarti begins. It's well choreographed. Quite a spectacle.
Ajay S — Google review
A very beautiful place to be if you are spiritual. Usually a must visit when the Ganga Aarti happens. Usually during winters the Aarti happens at 5.30pm however it's important that you reach there 20 minutes earlier to get the front seats.

Ram Jhula is a stunning bridge that spans the Ganges River, offering a picturesque and spiritual experience. While it can be crowded, the journey to the bridge is filled with interesting sights such as monkeys and wandering cows. Walking is recommended over renting a vehicle, allowing you to enjoy shopping, snacks, and tea along the way. From Ram Jhula Ghat, you can witness the divine Ganga Aarti in a less crowded setting than at Paramathma Ghat.
Ram jhula, in Rishikesh one the most beautiful place, if anyone wants to see the beauty and glimps of this place do come at night after 8.30 or 9 pm cuz here is too rush in evening but at night is completely free from rush, and there no any things which scare for female or girls special police are here are vigilance and active no such miscreants are there. Soothing environment at night at ghats.

Ram Jhula is one of the most visited places in Rishikesh. It's the way to Famous Ashrams like Parmarth Niketan, Geeta Bhawan, Beatles Ashram. Also you can go to taxi stand for Neelkanth Mahadev and also paidal marg for the same. It has beautiful ghats for Maa Ganga Snan. Very scenic in evening and night. Also breeze in the night on this bridge is very calm and serene. Best month to visit Rishikesh and Ram Jhula is October and November. Please do not litter on these Holy places. Be kind to all. Highly Recommended. Thanks

I went ther recently with my friends to enjoy the weekend. We booked our hotel near ramjhula to enjoy the ganga view, also rafting and more adventure activities. As we know about ramjhula Ram Jhula is a long hanging bridge in Rishikesh built over the holy Ganga River. It connects two sides of the town and is used by people walking, cycling, and visiting temples. When you stand on the bridge, you can see the clear water, green mountains, and colorful boats. The wind feels cool and fresh. Many tourists come here every day to enjoy the calm environment. In the evening, the lights around the bridge make it look even more beautiful and peaceful. It is a famous place to visit.
Kanishk R — Google review
The most bustling place in Rishikesh where you need to visit once you visit Rishikesh. It's the suspension bridge and most of the famous ashrams are situated on either side of the Ganges once you cross the bridge. You can enjoy boating in the Ganges also, which is near this suspension bridge. There are plenty of eateries nearby where you can have lunch or quick bites. Visit with adequate amount of time for optimum enjoyment.

Ram Jhula in Rishikesh is truly one of the most beautiful and iconic places in the city. While it’s charming at any time of day, if you really want to experience its true beauty and peaceful vibe, visit after 8:30 or 9:00 PM. During the evening, the area can get quite crowded with pilgrims and tourists, but at night, the rush fades away, and you can enjoy the calm, soothing atmosphere by the Ganga River and the ghats. The illuminated bridge reflecting on the water looks absolutely magical — it’s a sight to remember. 🌙 The area feels completely safe for women and families, as police patrols are active and vigilant even late at night. There are no miscreants or disturbances, making it a peaceful place to stroll, sit by the river, or simply absorb the serene energy of Rishikesh. If you love quiet moments, twinkling lights, and the sound of flowing water, Ram Jhula at night will surely touch your heart. 💛

Since the closure of Laxman Jhulla to vehicular traffic, this iconic suspension bridge has become a bustling thoroughfare for both pedestrians and bikers. At any given time, the bridge is adorned with a lively crowd, creating an energetic atmosphere. The view from the bridge, overlooking the majestic Ganga River and the captivating sight of rafting activities below, adds to its charm. Approaching the Ramjhulla parking side, visitors are treated to a picturesque view of the Ganges. Toward the end of the bridge, on the left-hand side, lies Goa Beach, offering a serene escape along the riverbank. Crossing the Jhulla and continuing on the left, one encounters the road leading to Laxman Jhulla. On the right side, the area is adorned with renowned tourist destinations, predominantly ashrams such as Parmarth Niketan, Swargashram, and Sivanand. Notably, the famous Chotiwala restaurants are also situated on this side, providing a taste of local cuisine. The allure of Ram Jhulla is further heightened during the evening when the entire structure is illuminated, casting a warm glow across the surroundings. This nightly transformation enhances the bridge's beauty, creating a captivating ambiance that draws visitors to witness the enchanting play of lights against the backdrop of the flowing Ganga River. Ram Jhulla stands not only as a functional crossing but also as a symbol of vibrancy and charm in the heart of Rishikesh. Nice experience, Devine place, One can visit on weekends. When you will just cross Ram Jhula, turn left side (instead of right)100 meter, a beautiful view is waiting for you.you will find benches on the bank of Ganga or you go down on sand beach. Opposite to benches economic and good guest houses are available @₹700-₹3500. If you want go to some crowded place or market then turn right from Ram Jhula. There you may participate in ganga aarti, shoping, fooding, tea, coffee, etc. Yes, walking around is nice, when you reach Laxman jhula must enjoy Honey-ginger lemon tea.

Hanging bridge joints left bank of Ganga River to Right bank where Swargashram is situated. In Rishikesh it's about 500 metres long and 10 feet width. Two wheelers are strictly prohibited on this way.At the Rishikesh, when we reached at Ram Jhula,a group of 6-7 persons comes from Canada n leaded by Sandra, introduced by her to all members and talk 👄 😀 😄 😉 about their good and bitter experience in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Very calm, funny and pleasant group, so we share our journey n memories with them.

The Beatles Ashram

Ashram
Sights & Landmarks
The Beatles Ashram, located about 3 km from Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh, was once a quiet place for yoga and meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. However, it gained global attention in 1968 when The Beatles visited to learn about Transcendental Meditation. Today, the ashram features Beatles art and graffiti. The area is a mystical campus with stunning architecture nestled in a forested area near the Ganges.
A calm and scenic place surrounded by nature, with old meditation caves and creative art on the walls. It has a peaceful vibe and is great for photography and quiet walks. But the area needs more care and maintenance. Many parts are broken, there’s no proper seating, and paths are not well-kept. Still, they charge an entry fee of ₹200, which feels too high for the current condition. The government should take better care of this historic place. Worth visiting once for the vibe and views, but it could be much better.

★★★★★ / 🌿 “A Timeless Melody of Peace, Art & Nature in Rishikesh!” 🌿 The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutiya) in Rishikesh is not just a historic spot — it’s a soulful retreat that beautifully blends nature, art, and the lingering legacy of music. Once home to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram, where The Beatles stayed in 1968 and composed many of their iconic songs, this place still echoes with creativity and serenity. Nestled on the banks of the Ganga and embraced by the Rajaji Tiger Reserve, the ashram has an otherworldly calm. Walking through its abandoned meditation huts, crumbling stone pathways, and moss-covered walls feels like stepping into a peaceful time capsule. The silence here is profound — you hear the wind in the trees, birdsong, and your own footsteps — offering a rare space for reflection and stillness. ⸻ 🌟 Highlights of the Experience • Historic Legacy: Knowing that The Beatles, along with other artists and seekers, meditated and created music here adds a magical energy to the visit. Fans of the band will feel the nostalgia instantly. • Street-Art & Graffiti: The ashram walls are covered with vibrant murals and Beatles-inspired artwork by international artists. Every corner feels like a living gallery that celebrates music and peace. • Meditation Huts (Chaurasi Kutiya): These dome-shaped stone huts are scattered throughout the ashram. Exploring them is fascinating — they feel raw yet inviting, and many still have an aura of tranquility. • Nature & Scenery: The ashram is surrounded by lush forests and offers glimpses of the Ganges. The air feels fresh, and the natural silence makes it a rejuvenating experience. • Peaceful Vibe: Despite being a popular tourist site, the ashram retains its calm energy. It’s a wonderful place for meditation, photography, or simply sitting under a tree and soaking in the moment. ⸻ 📝 Practical Details • Entry: There’s a nominal entry fee (for both Indian and international visitors) which is worth it for the well-maintained paths and restored sections. • Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon — the light is softer, the air is cooler, and it’s less crowded. • Duration: Ideally set aside 1.5 to 2 hours to walk, explore, and sit quietly. • Photography: The combination of ruins, murals, forest, and domes makes this a paradise for photographers. • Walkability: Expect a lot of walking inside; wear comfortable shoes as paths can be uneven. • Safety: The site feels safe and secure; there’s a forest vibe but nothing to worry about during visiting hours. ⸻ 💭 Final Thoughts The Beatles Ashram is more than a tourist destination — it’s a soulful pause in the rush of travel. Whether you come for its history, its art, or its quiet connection to nature, you leave feeling a little lighter and more inspired. ⭐ Overall: A must-visit in Rishikesh — perfect for music lovers, history buffs, meditators, artists, or anyone seeking peace amidst nature’s charm. ✨ Review by @the_solo_wanderer_ For more soulful journeys and untold stories, search me on Instagram 🌿📸

Recommended visit time needed approx 2hrs. Costs for foreigners is 1200 rupi. Located in a white corner of the mountain. Very interesting to see where the Beatles spent some time connecting to there inner self escaping all the worldly noise. You just walk around and feel the peace. Birds chirping. You see the bungalow where the Beatles stayed. You see a small gallery with a bunch of photos of the Beatles in the ashram. There is a Small canteen where you can buy drinks and lunch.
Moshe M — Google review
I finally visited this place on my third trip to Rishikesh. I had high expectations, but I left a bit disappointed. The road leading to the ashram is quite tricky and feels more like off-roading. There are no proper guidelines or directions about where to go first—you just end up wandering around the ashram. The place is huge, and the meditation domes made from river stones are quite interesting. Apart from that, there’s a small gallery near the canteen displaying photos from when the Beatles actually visited the ashram. Overall, I feel the ₹200 entry fee isn’t justified. With better maintenance and proper guidance, the experience would definitely be worth it.

The Beatles Ashram, Rishikesh A peaceful nature trail ideal for meditation and reconnecting with yourself. The walk through the woods is scenic and soothing, though the old huts (“kutiyas”) are now poorly maintained. The ticket feels slightly overpriced, but the calm aura and greenery make up for it. Don’t miss the canteen’s pahadi wali Maggi! 🍃 Wear comfy shoes and watch out for monkeys — a lovely spot for a long, mindful walk in nature.

The ruins of an old ashram in Rishikesh. You can spent around 2 hours to see it around. The stone caves for medition built of the hand picked pebbles from Ganga river is the highlight here. It's not well maintained though. It's part of s tiger reserve now.

Beautiful place. You will get some amazing pictures in your gallery after the visit. Prefer the winter season to enjoy it more.little huts looks beautiful and view of ganga river is good. Full network area , washroom at entry point and drinking water too. Carry your aadhar card for entry .

It's actually the chauras kutiya near Janki Jhula , and timings are till 3pm so one should know this everywhere it's mentioned incorrect, which wasted our time. Also there is a very- damn- best - beautiful view point at the end of the trail. You will reach there just go till the last. Bring physical ids, adhaar and student id.

Tip-in-Top Point, also known as Tiffin Top, is one of the most scenic and serene viewpoints in Lansdowne, Uttarakhand, located at an elevation of approximately 1,700 to 2,000 meters above sea level. Just 1.5 to 2.5 km from the Lansdowne town center, it is easily accessible via a short drive and a 200-meter walk through pine and oak-covered paths. Known for its breathtaking panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas, including peaks like Chaukhamba and Trishul, the spot is perfect for sunrise and sunset watchers, photographers, and nature lovers seeking peace. The surrounding landscape offers a tranquil atmosphere, with cool breezes and a clear view of the Shivalik ranges on a clear day. There is no entry fee, and local food stalls serve tea, Maggi, and snacks to enhance the experience. A GMVN guest house near the viewpoint offers simple accommodations, including cottages and tree houses for those wanting to stay close to nature. Nearby attractions such as St. Mary’s Church, Bhulla Tal Lake, Darwan Singh Museum, and Snow View Point make the location even more appealing. Tip Top Point (also known as Tiffin Top) is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Lansdowne and a must visit for nature lovers. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Garhwal mountain ranges, the lush green valleys, and even the snow capped Himalayan peaks on a clear day it’s an unforgettable sight! The entry ticket costs ₹20 per person, and parking charges are ₹60. However, the parking area is quite small, and it can be difficult to find a spot when the place gets crowded, so it’s best to visit early in the day. The fee feels a bit on the higher side considering the limited space. There’s also a telescope service (for a extra fee) that gives you a close up view of Lansdowne town and the surrounding mountains. A small cafeteria nearby serves tea, coffee, and snacks, making it a nice spot to relax while taking in the scenery. The area is generally clean, peaceful, and well maintained ideal for spending some quiet time away from the bustle.

🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐ (4/5) A beautiful viewpoint in Lansdowne that truly lives up to its name – Tip-in-Top! This place is a must-visit if you're exploring Lansdowne. Located at one of the highest points in the town, Tip-in-Top offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. On a clear day, you can even spot distant snow-capped peaks, making it a dream spot for nature lovers and photographers. The atmosphere here is calm, peaceful, and perfect for spending some quality time amidst nature. Whether you're visiting with friends, family, or solo – it's a great place to just relax, soak in the beauty, and take a break from city life. Mornings and evenings are especially magical with the soft golden light falling over the hills. 🎟️ There is an entry fee of ₹20 per person, which is very nominal considering the experience you get. 🅿️ Parking is available, but it's charged at ₹60 – which is slightly on the higher side, but the area is safe and well-managed. There is a restaurant/café at the location as well, which is decent in terms of ambience, but honestly, it is a bit overpriced. So if you're planning to eat here, be prepared for higher-than-average rates. It might be a better idea to grab a light snack and enjoy your main meals in the main town area. There are benches and open spaces where you can sit and enjoy the view. It’s not a very large spot, but definitely a serene one. You can easily spend 1–2 hours here just enjoying the breeze and the scenic beauty. Pro tip: Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds and enjoy the best views. All in all, Tip-in-Top is definitely one of Lansdowne’s top attractions and well worth your time. If you're in town, don’t miss it!

Bhulla Taal, located in Lansdowne, is a serene man-made lake surrounded by hilly lawns and trees. It is a popular attraction for both tourists and locals, offering waterside paths, boat rentals, and serving as a great picnic spot. The lake was created to promote tourism in the area and has become a favorite destination for families and kids. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as boating, archery, trampoline jumping, and more.
Good small lake and garden to walk around. In peak season, waiting time for a boat ride may be around 30-40 minutes but if you do not want a boat ride then walking around is really good.

Good place for family and couples. It's colorful place. So many points to click beautiful and colorful pictures and reels. Tickets prices are 100 per person without boating. With boating 250 per person.

Bhulla Taal is a small, artificial lake surrounded by lush greenery it’s clean, peaceful, and nice for a short outing. Apart from the lake with ducks and fish (fish feed is available for ₹10), they also have rabbits, hamsters, and some birds, which kids and animal lovers will enjoy. The ticket prices are quite high ₹250 per person including boating, which feels expensive for what’s offered. Without boating, it’s ₹100, and defence personnel are charged ₹50, which is reasonable. They also have archery, a trampoline, and swings, which are extra ₹100 each, and kids really seem to enjoy them. There’s free parking, which is convenient, but overall, while the place is pleasant for a brief visit, the pricing could be more reasonable.

Review: Bhulla Lake, Lansdowne ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (3/5) Bhulla Lake in Lansdowne is a decent spot for a short visit, especially if you're exploring the area for the first time. However, if you've already been to more popular hill stations like Nainital, this place might not feel very impressive in comparison. The entry fee is ₹50 per person, which feels a bit steep considering what’s offered. Boating costs an additional ₹150, and every other ride inside the premises has separate charges as well. So, it can quickly add up and may not feel entirely worth the price. The lake and its surroundings are clean, well-maintained, and quite peaceful. It's a pretty place to relax for a while, click some pictures, or enjoy a quiet boat ride. But the experience is fairly limited, and the overall vibe doesn’t quite justify the entry fee. Parking is also limited and chargeable, which is another downside. Overall, it’s good for a one-time visit if you’re in Lansdowne, but not a must-see destination. If you’ve already experienced more vibrant or scenic spots like those in Nainital, Bhulla Lake might feel underwhelming.

Bhull Tal, Lansdowne is a beautiful and peaceful spot, perfect for spending a relaxing day with family and friends. Surrounded by lush greenery, the lake is clean, calm, and well-maintained. Boating here is a wonderful experience, and the small park with statues and seating areas makes it even more enjoyable. It’s an ideal place for photography, picnics, and simply soaking in nature’s beauty.

Bhulla Taal is a small lake in the middle of Lansdowne, it offers good views with decent flora and fauna, Pedal boat rides are 100 rs. Extra for 15 minutes. Please note that sometimes it can get crowded and then you will not be enjoying the views, I personally felt that there were many areas of improvement in the maintenance of the lake. The authorities, along with collecting the ticket money should also improve on the amenities and the overall maintenance of the park. Other activities inside the park are chargeable separately like archery. Over all it's a good experience if you have nothing else to do in Lansdowne.

Bhulla Tal, also known as Bhulla Lake, is a charming man-made lake located just 1 to 2 kilometers from the heart of Lansdowne, Uttarakhand. Constructed and maintained by the Indian Army, this serene spot is dedicated to the young Garhwali soldiers of the Garhwal Rifles who contributed to its creation. The name “Bhulla” translates to “younger brother” in the local Garhwali language, reflecting the community’s affection for the youth involved in its development . Despite its modest size, Bhulla Tal offers a tranquil environment ideal for relaxation and leisurely activities. The lake is surrounded by well-maintained gardens and shaded seating areas, providing visitors with picturesque views. A notable feature is the small overbridge that spans the lake, offering an excellent vantage point for photography and appreciation of the surroundings . Boating is a popular activity here, with duck-shaped paddle boats available for rent. The boating experience is both enjoyable and affordable, making it accessible for families and couples alike. Additionally, the area includes a children’s park equipped with swings and play structures, a bamboo machan, and fountains that enhance the scenic beauty of the locale . Visitors can also explore a small souvenir shop, a café offering light refreshments, a herbal plant nursery, and an enclosure housing rabbits, adding to the charm of the place. These amenities make Bhulla Tal not just a spot for relaxation but also a place where one can engage with nature and enjoy simple pleasures . The lake is open to visitors from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily, except on Wednesdays when it remains closed. The entry fee is modest, and boating charges are additional, typically around ₹50 per person . Given its proximity to the town center, Bhulla Tal is easily accessible on foot or by a short drive, making it a convenient destination for a quick getaway. In summary, Bhulla Tal is a delightful spot that offers a peaceful retreat amidst nature. Its well-kept environment, coupled with various recreational facilities, makes it an ideal location for a leisurely visit lasting about an hour. Whether you’re seeking a quiet place to unwind or a scenic spot to enjoy with family and friends, Bhulla Tal provides a refreshing experience in the serene hills of Lansdowne.

It’s a well-maintained and peaceful place that beautifully showcases the rich history, bravery, and legacy of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment. If you’re someone who appreciates military history and the sacrifices of our soldiers, this museum will definitely touch your heart. You also get to learn about the contribution of the Garhwal Rifles in various wars and operations. Everything is neatly arranged and gives you a glimpse into the disciplined and honorable life of an Indian Army soldier. One important point to keep in mind – photography is not allowed inside the museum, which can be a bit disappointing for those who love to capture memories, but it's understandable due to the sensitivity and nature of the content displayed. 🎟️ Entry tickets are just ₹30 per adult, which is very reasonable. 🅿️ Free parking is available, and from there it’s just a short 300-meter walk to the museum. The path is pleasant and adds to the experience. The staff at the museum deserve special mention – they are polite, respectful, and very cooperative. You can feel the discipline and hospitality in the way they handle everything. They also answer questions and help you understand the exhibits better if you’re curious. The area is scenic and peaceful there’s a small park opposite the parking area, and the parade ground beside the museum adds to the military atmosphere. The museum also shares interesting information about Lansdowne’s history it was originally called Kalundanda and was later renamed Lansdowne after Lord Lansdowne, the then Governor General and Viceroy of India. This historical context adds an extra layer of meaning to the visit. The premises are well-maintained. Photography isn’t allowed inside, but the experience is still worthwhile. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it radiates positive energy and calmness, making it a perfect place for meditation and reflection. The sound of bells, rustling leaves, and gentle mountain breeze create an atmosphere of pure tranquility. The temple’s architecture is simple yet soulful, beautifully blending with its natural surroundings. Visiting Tarkeshwar Dham feels less like a trip and more like a spiritual retreat a place where one can disconnect from the world and reconnect with inner peace. It’s undoubtedly one of the most sacred and scenic spots in Lansdowne, a must-visit for anyone seeking divine blessings and natural beauty together.

Probably the best part of Landsdowne day tour, its about 40km from Landsdowne and takes abt. 2 hours to reach, and it gets very crowded and you may have to walk a bit to reach it, if crowd is much. Although place is cool throughout the day, better to visit early in summers. its about 100m walk downhill and path is covered with corrugated sheets. This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is probably the only one in the area with a statue instead of Lingam. Extremely peaceful and serene place. We went on saturday and there was a bhandara with Poori, Potato gravy and halwa, which was piping hot and wonderful. There are huge trees and few have fallen down, makes for excellent pics. this area has wild Bichoo Grass or scorpion plant, which if you brush by, will give stinging sensation for sometime (pic attached)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly serene and beautiful temple. 🌿🙏 Located downhill, surrounded by tall pine trees, the atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing. I visited during the Shravan month on a Monday morning around 11 am — it wasn’t crowded, which made the experience even more special. The walk to the temple is scenic, and during monsoon, the greenery makes it absolutely magical. Perfect place for peace, devotion, and connecting with nature. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

🌟🌟🌟🌟⭐ (4.7/5) A divine escape into the lap of nature – Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple is truly a magical experience! Located high up in the hills near Lansdowne, Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the most serene and spiritually powerful places I’ve ever visited. Surrounded by dense forests of towering deodar (cedar) trees, the temple exudes a mystical charm that instantly calms your mind and soul. It's not just a religious site – it's an experience in itself. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the atmosphere here is deeply peaceful. Unlike most temples where you often find noise and crowds, here you’re greeted with silence, fresh mountain air, and the subtle sounds of nature – birds chirping, wind rustling through the trees, and distant temple bells. The setting is surreal, like something out of a Himalayan folk tale. 🚗 Reaching the temple is comfortable – the roads are in very good condition, especially for a hilly route. You can drive your car all the way to the top. The drive itself is scenic and enjoyable for those who love winding mountain roads. No issues even for family cars like Ertiga, Kia, etc. 🅿️ Parking is free, and there’s enough space available. To reach the main temple from the parking area, there is a short uphill trek through the forest. It’s not too difficult and completely worth it. As you walk through the tall trees with filtered sunlight falling on the forest floor, it feels almost meditative. The temple complex is simple, clean, and beautifully maintained. You’ll find people meditating, offering prayers, or just sitting in silence – and that’s the best part. The sense of calm and spiritual energy here is something that stays with you long after you leave. If you’re visiting Lansdowne, Tarkeshwar Mahadev is a must-add to your itinerary – whether you’re a devotee, nature lover, or just someone looking for peace. It’s one of those rare places where spirituality and nature come together in perfect harmony. Highly recommended!

Amazing place to visit with family and loved ones. Quiet place with full of natures marvel. No rush and no crowd. Must visit here once in a life .

Tarkeshwar Mahadev is an ancient place situated in a valley about 30km off Lansdowne. The approach is quite scenic. We went under the impression that it was a Shiva temple but its dedicated to a saint who, in his time, fought against evil and used to punish the wrong doers. However, in an Uttarakhand Tourism inscription at the place it was mentioned that Parvati meditated here to "get Lord Shiva"! The person there told me that the place gets crowded during navraatris and there's an ashram very close by where one can stay for a few days by paying a few hundred rupees per day. There are very few eateries on the way to this place so make sure you have your own tit bits to consume. Although the ubiquitous maggie is available at the temple parking place. From the parking to the temple its a few hundred meters walk downhill. Saw an old person being taken in a wheelchair so make sure you are able to walk up and down with ease. But its not that big an issue. Just remember its a spiritual - religious place and not a touristy one. So go there for the peace and quiet, without expecting much.

Tadkeshwar Temple is a serene and peaceful place that offers a spiritual retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The temple, located amidst lush pine trees, creates a tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for contemplation and prayer. The cool shade from the towering trees adds to the peaceful ambiance, making it a wonderful place to connect with nature while also engaging in spiritual practices. The best part of the visit was the lack of heavy crowds, which made our Darshan experience much more personal and calming. The less crowded environment allowed for a more intimate and peaceful experience, making it easy to connect with the divine. The temple itself has historical significance, as it is known for its deep-rooted connection to Lord Shiva and is an important pilgrimage spot for devotees. The architecture and the surroundings resonate with spiritual energy, adding to the temple's sacred charm. *Things to know before visiting:* It’s important to dress modestly when visiting Tadkeshwar Temple. For women, covering the body with proper attire is a must, as respect for the temple's sacredness is essential. This also helps maintain the decorum of the holy site.

Very spacious, clean and well managed. Chhole Bhature, Dosa, Lime Soda is good. Gentry is good. 500 entry fee. Sea wave fun at 2pm.

A decent place to spend some time though not comparable to water parks in Delhi NCR. Ample parking space is available. Children below 39 inches of height can enter free. Entry for adults is @600. You can hire swimming costumes/towels/lockers @100 each. Hardly anyone was there in a proper swimming costume. They have a small cafeteria inside.
Sandeep S — Google review
The place is nice but the pool depth is just around 3ft everywhere. While the kids will love it but as an adult you won't. You will hit the floor if you take the higher slide. Someone was telling me that the 5ft pool place was covered for some private function. This is unacceptable. Also signages are poorly placed. For family time this is a good place to hangout for 1-2 hours. Wave pool is just being operated for 10-15 mins. For waterpark entry 600 is being charged now and if you have someone who won't use the waterpark then entry would be 200 but they won't be allowed to enter the pool area.

Bad things are... you have to pay every corner of water park. You have to pay for costume. So if u want to go there buy Nylon tshirt & Bermuda. Even baby have to follow the dress code. You cant take outside food. There is no hanger in male/female changing room you have to put ur garments on floor. Good things are nice place to visit if you want to swim deep pool then dont go there....

I visited this place back in 2016 with my friends. At that time, the ticket was ₹450 — it might have increased now. I was coming from Rampur when I saw this place and decided to visit. The area is quite large and perfect for kids, picnics, and various activities. There’s a spacious park, a stage where you can dance, and several facilities for physical activities. During the summer, the waterpark here gets really crowded, so plan your visit accordingly. Overall, it’s a great spot to spend time with friends and family. I would definitely recommend visiting at least once!

Girija Devi Temple is a quaint and serene temple located on a hilltop overlooking the Kosi River. Accessible by a pedestrian river footbridge, it sits amidst scenic forested surroundings, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Despite its small size, the temple's serene ambiance and decked up idol of Devi make it a compelling destination for visitors.
This temple is available in a beautiful location near Dhikuli. It is a riversideview where you can enjoy swimming as well, being careful with children. Established 8-10 km from Ramnagar town, this temple is quite old and famous. You need to climb around 50-60 stairs to go there. After that you can enjoy the riverside view and click some really wonderful pictures. 4 KM away there is the Dhangarhi museum, which is a bonus for kids. Both places are must visit if you are going to Ramnagar or Jim Corbett National Park.

Garjiya Devi Temple in Ramnagar is truly a hidden gem! The location is absolutely beautiful, and being right by the riverside adds a serene charm to the whole experience. It’s not just a spiritual place but also an awesome spot for a picnic with family and friends. However, one concern I had was the littering around the river. It takes away from the natural beauty and peaceful vibe of the area. I really hope visitors become more responsible, and some proper dustbins and awareness signs are put up. Also, having toilets easily accessible below the bridge would be a great help. It would ensure cleanliness in the temple premises and make the overall experience even better. Highly recommend visiting, but let’s all do our part to keep this place clean and beautiful!

A truly memorable moment at one of the best temples—beginning with divine darshan and receiving the sacred prashad. After offering prayers, sitting peacefully by the riverside brings unmatched calm. I have visited this place during my visit to Ramnagar. I have not visited the temple inside so can't comment on it but it has big lines to go inside the temple. Beside that there is a beautiful river which is must visit place. There you can take bath in water and devour with Maggie and basic food which is really a good place for hangout with friends and family.

Visiting the Girija Devi Temple🛕 was truly a peaceful and serene experience. Nestled amidst natural beauty, the temple offers a spiritual retreat like no other. Situated on top of a small hillock in the middle of the Kosi River, the temple’s unique location adds to its charm and sacred aura🏔️🏞️ To reach the temple, one must climb a steep staircase, which can be a bit challenging but ultimately rewarding. The panoramic view from the top, coupled with the divine atmosphere, makes the effort worthwhile. Devotees come here to seek the blessings of Devi Girija, and the temple exudes a strong sense of devotion and tranquility🌿🌷 ❗️During peak travel seasons and holidays, expect long queues and a fair amount of waiting. The narrow passage and steep steps can make the ascent difficult, especially for senior citizens or those with mobility issues. It's advisable to avoid the climb if you have any health concerns related to walking or climbing. 💫Overall, the Girija Devi Temple is a must-visit for spiritual seekers and those looking to experience natural beauty along with divinity. Just be prepared for a bit of a climb—and a truly rewarding experience at the top🌟

Decent waterfalls, near Corbett Museum. At the entry, there's a ticket counter, post which you can take your car inside the forest. There's a short hike post the parking, which although short, has a bunch of stairs, elders, be advised. The steps, carved of stone, are infused with algae and chances of slipping are prevalent. The place is really beautiful in monsoon. Throughout the hike they also have some adventure activities like sky cycling, ziplining etc, which were closed however citing rain (there wasn't any). I suppose it's up to their mood to close / open. There's also a small cafe and souvenir shop near the parking area, although there are very limited options.

I recently visited Corbett Falls, and it was a delightful experience! The ticket charge is 100 rupees per person, but it's free for kids, which is a nice bonus for families. The location is very convenient, situated on the road near the Girja Devi Temple, making it easy to access. There's ample parking space available, and you can drive your car up to 200 meters from the waterfall, which is quite convenient. The falls themselves are beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery and offering a peaceful atmosphere. The trek to the waterfall involves crossing a small wooden bridge, which adds to the charm of the experience. Along the way, you can spot small fishes in the clear waters, making it a fun adventure for kids. Speaking of kids, this spot is perfect for families! There is a kids' zone where children can play, and even some fun activities like sky cycling. The entire area is well-maintained and clean, making it a great place for kids to enjoy nature in a safe environment. The sound of the waterfall and the natural beauty of the surroundings make it an ideal spot for relaxation and photography. Overall, Corbett Falls is a fantastic destination for families, nature lovers, and those looking to enjoy a peaceful day out. The combination of scenic beauty, ease of access, and fun activities for kids makes it a place worth visiting if you're in the area.

1. Little hectic to get parking even though they have parking place. 2. From main entrance to waterfall is quite long so suggest you to go in two/four wheeler rather than walk. 3. Good jungle atmosphere. 4. Plenty of food option available but little costly than normal ( ex - 1 lemonade glass = 60₹ ) 5. Man made marble pool around the waterfall. 6. Thats it go and explore more !

Another must visit temple for any devout hindu visiting Ranikhet & it has a huge reverence. Visit, seek a manokamna & upon realisation of your wish revisit and tie a temple bell on the temple premises. It's very nice!!

The architecture isn't spectacular, but it's antiquity dates back 700 years according to local lore. The current structure, of course, is more recent in origin and dates to the last century. It's quaintness lies in its thousands of bells, big and small, along the walls of the temples and inside, donated by grateful worshippers. People come here to get their new vehicles blessed!
Saurabh — Google review
The experience was wonderful! The place has an incredible sense of peace and tranquility. Although this temple is often associated with Ranikhet, it’s actually located quite far from there — in a serene, isolated spot right beside the Army Jat Regiment check post. Just 3–4 km from the temple, you can also explore a beautiful garden in choubatia, which is said to be the second largest of its kind in Asia.

While the architecture of Jhula Devi Temple may not be grand or ornate, its antiquity and spiritual significance make it one of Ranikhet’s most cherished landmarks. According to local lore, the temple’s origins date back nearly 700 years, though the current structure was built in the last century. What truly makes this temple special are the thousands of brass bells — big and small — adorning its walls and ceilings. Each bell has been offered by a devotee in gratitude, symbolizing wishes fulfilled and prayers answered. The gentle sound of the bells swaying in the mountain breeze gives the temple a truly divine and peaceful aura. 🔔🌿 It’s a tradition among locals and travelers to visit the temple to seek blessings for new vehicles, symbolizing safety and good fortune. The energy here feels both sacred and timeless — a blend of faith, history, and the mountain spirit of Kumaon. If you’re in Ranikhet, Jhula Devi Temple is not just a place to visit — it’s a place to feel. 🙏

A must-visit attraction in Nainital, enjoyable for both adults and children. The natural caves are easy to navigate with kids, though the last one—called the Ape Cave—is a bit challenging and the most fun. By the end, you’ll feel truly satisfied with the experience.

Shree Maa Naina Devi Temple, Nainital

Mentioned on

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Nestled near Nainital Lake, the Shree Maa Naina Devi Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi and is known for its colorful shrines and associated mythological stories. Visitors can also enjoy a cable car ride to Snow View observation point for stunning vistas of the town and surrounding mountains, including Nanda Devi, the highest peak in Uttarakhand.
🛕 Naina Devi Temple, Nainital – A Divine Presence Beyond Words I recently visited Naina Devi Temple in Nainital, and I can confidently say—this is not just a temple, it's a powerful spiritual experience that stays with you long after you leave. Right from the moment you step through the entrance arch, there’s something in the air—peace, divinity, and a sense of stillness that instantly calms your heart. The temple is located at the northern end of Naini Lake, and as you climb the short steps, you’re greeted by bells, incense, and the soft chants that echo around the space. Honestly, I didn’t take any photos or videos—not because I forgot, but because I couldn’t. Sometimes, there are places where your phone automatically takes a backseat. I felt so connected and in the moment that capturing it digitally didn’t even cross my mind. You have to go and feel it yourself. Important Note (Real Info Alert!) Don't trust Google Maps for the timings—it’s outdated or just plain wrong. 🕔 The temple opens at 5:00 AM with the morning aarti 🕖 Closes by 7:00 PM sharp — after which the main gates are closed, and no one is allowed in. I saw many people disappointed who came relying on online timings. So, plan accordingly. Inside, the temple is simple yet soul-touching. The main deity, Goddess Naina Devi, is beautifully adorned, and the energy inside the sanctum is intense. There’s also a Hanumanji and Ganeshji murti beside, with hundreds of bells tied by devotees. Offerings like prasad and flowers are available just outside, and the pandas (priests) are polite—not pushy. Other Info: The view of the Naini Lake from the temple compound is stunning—especially around sunset. It gets a bit crowded on weekends and during aarti hours. Shoes must be left outside (there's a counter). Prasad is simple, fresh, and blessed (I took some home for family). Final Words: If you’re in Nainital, don’t miss this temple. Not for the photos, not for sightseeing, but for the calm, the blessings, and the rare feeling of stillness it gives you. Naina Devi isn’t just a place, she’s a presence.

I want to express my heartfelt congratulation and best wishes on the occasion of 'Nanda Ashtami', the festival that celebrates the worship of Goddess Nanda-Sunanda, the leading deity of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. I always suggest visiting Nainital for the Nanda Devi Mela, which is something I always recommend. Being a part of the Nanda Devi Mela is something I am always grateful for.

Naina Devi Temple is a quiet and peaceful place with great mythological significance for Hindus. The temple management is very good, polite, and well-organized. We visited during the Nanda Devi festival, when the entire area was filled with vibrant energy and a lively fair (mela) was organized as part of the celebrations. During festivals, the temple timings are extended till 10 pm, allowing devotees more time for darshan. It is truly a must-visit place in Nainital, offering both spiritual serenity and cultural vibrance.

SATYAPRAKASH S — Google review
Naini Lake, the heart and soul of Nainital, is a breathtaking natural freshwater body nestled amidst seven lush hills in the Kumaon Himalayas. Its distinctive mango or crescent shape and tranquil, shimmering waters immediately capture the visitor’s eye, making it the focal point of this popular hill station. The Scenic Splendour and Ambiance The sheer beauty of the lake is undeniable. Surrounded by the colonial-era architecture of Mallital (north side) and Tallital (south side), the panorama is stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. . The hills—capped with pine, deodar, and oak trees—provide a majestic backdrop, creating a cool, peaceful atmosphere that is a much-needed escape from city life. Walking along the Mall Road promenade that runs parallel to the lake is a favored activity, allowing tourists to soak in the beauty and the bustling yet relaxed town culture. Tourist Experience and Activities The main draw of Naini Lake is, without a doubt, boating. Visitors have the choice of various watercraft: Row Boats: Typically charged for a half-round or full-round, these are popular for a relaxed ride, as a boatman rows for you. A half-round usually costs around ₹160 and a full round ₹210 (prices are approximate and can vary). Paddle Boats: Ideal for couples or those who enjoy a bit of light exercise, charges are generally around ₹210 per hour. Boating hours are typically from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the early morning and late evening offering the most photogenic light and serene experience. Beyond boating, the lake acts as a hub for other attractions, including the nearby Naina Devi Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, lending the area a profound religious and historical significance. A cable car ride near the lake offers a panoramic bird's-eye view of the emerald-green waters and the surrounding peaks. Mythology and Historical Context The lake’s mystique is deepened by its mythological roots. It is believed to be the site where the eye ( Nain ) of Goddess Sati fell after her immolation, giving the lake its name (Naini-tal, or 'lake of the eye'). This legend solidifies the area's sanctity. Historically, the town was 'discovered' by the British in 1841 by P. Barron, who was so taken by the spot that he established a European colony here, turning it into the summer seat of the North-Western Provinces, adding a distinct colonial charm to the lakefront. The Downside While breathtaking, the lake's overwhelming popularity means the area, especially Mall Road, can get severely crowded during peak tourist season and holidays. This can detract from the intended 'peaceful' experience. Furthermore, like many heavily visited sites, concerns about cleanliness and water quality are sometimes raised, highlighting the need for stricter environmental protection and maintenance to preserve its natural beauty. In conclusion, Naini Lake is an essential destination that fully lives up to its reputation as a stunning Himalayan lake resort. Its blend of scenic beauty, engaging activities, and deep-rooted mythology makes it an unforgettable experience, provided visitors are prepared to navigate the crowds during high season.

Nestled on the SherKaDandahill hilltop in Nainital City, Uttarakhand, G B Pant High Altitude Zoo is a 4.592-hectare zoo that sits at an elevation of about 2100 meters. Established in 1980 and opened to the public in 1995, this zoo is managed by Bharat Ratna G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo Management Society.
G B Pant High Altitude Zoo is an absolute must-visit and genuinely worth the entry fee! This beautifully maintained zoo offers a fantastic experience. The main attractions definitely delivered, especially getting to see the magnificent Royal Bengal Tiger and those incredibly cute Red Pandas up close. They also have an impressive array of Leopards, along with several species of Himalayan goats and sheep, like the striking Blue Sheep. While not huge, its mountain setting means sloped paths, which adds to the unique high-altitude feel, though elderly visitors might find it a bit challenging. I spent a relaxed 2-3 hours exploring everything thoroughly. A fantastic day out!

Zoo is located on a peak accessible only through shuttles operating infront of India hotel on mall road. There's lot of walking and steep accent there no caddy available, therefore I would suggest avoiding aged people OT people who are not comfortable with heavy cardio. Overall zoo have decent number of species and animals are quite active.
Nishant B — Google review
Frankly, the zoo is nice, if you like climbing hills. I found it strenuous. You have to walk uphill quite a lot to reach the tickets counter and then inside the zoo more climbing. I enjoyed watching the tigers, leopards and red pandas and some mountain goats and deers. But many of the cages were empty. Sometimes only after a steep climb to an enclosure you realise that there is nothing there. Still I liked what I saw though I was really tired with all that climbing up.

Pt. G.B. Pant High Altitude Zoo, Nainital – A Unique Hillside Experience The Nainital Zoo is located on a scenic hilltop, accessible only via shuttle services operating in front of Hotel India on Mall Road. 🚐 The route is quite steep, and there’s a fair bit of walking involved — so it may not be suitable for elderly visitors or anyone uncomfortable with heavy uphill walks (no caddies or private vehicles allowed). Once you reach the top, you’ll find a well-maintained zoo with a decent variety of animals and birds — from Himalayan bears and leopards to barking deer and colorful pheasants. The enclosures are clean, and most animals appear active and healthy. 🦌🐆 The fresh mountain air and peaceful surroundings make the visit enjoyable and educational, especially for families and children. Just remember to wear comfortable shoes and carry water for the climb!

Ticket Price - INR 150 / person Route - Cab is available from the Church area at the Mall road. Cab cost - INR 70/ person. Cafeteria: Available inside the Zoo
Travel D — Google review
The Nainital Zoo is located at a very high point. From Mall Road, you can take a cab service that charges ₹70 per person and drops you near the entry area. After that, you still have to walk quite a bit uphill to reach the ticket counter, where the ticket price is ₹150 per person. Once you enter the zoo, you first get to see some beautiful birds, followed by the Bengal tiger and many other animals. Since the zoo is situated at a high altitude, you have to keep walking uphill inside as well. If you have elderly people with you, it’s better not to take them along due to the steep climb. Apart from that, the zoo is surrounded by nature and the peaceful environment really wins your heart.

Nestled in the serene hills near Almora, the Kasar Devi Temple is a captivating ancient Hindu shrine that invites visitors to experience its tranquil ambiance and breathtaking vistas. Perched atop a hill and built over a cave, this temple is steeped in history, with references found in sacred texts like the Skanda Purana. Renowned spiritual figures such as Swami Vivekanand have sought solace here, drawn by its unique energy.
Well where to start from! This place hits differently and I mean it. The vibes are totally charged. This place offers something that very few places can! I found a cave there out of no where and went inside yo meditate. And that was one really really deep experience. I've meditate at many places but rarely there are places that helps you to get detached from thoughts instantly! If you are into it, you can feel the great positive energy there. Along with offering great spiritual experience the temple also offers great views of the Himalayas and great sunrises and sunsets. Also, science lover in me was happy as I was at a place which is believed to be situated at Van Allen belt gap! There are few food carts around temple complex where you can have tea, coffee, maggie and light snacks.

Visited Kasar Devi Temple around 1 PM, just before the gates closed for bhog. The timing couldn’t have been better the place was calm, the view stunning, and the energy around felt deeply peaceful. It’s easy to see why Kasar Devi is known for its strong spiritual vibration; it’s perfect for meditation and quiet reflection. Just a short walk above, there’s a beautiful Shiva temple on the same path that adds to the divine experience. A serene and soulful spot surrounded by nature and positive energy.

This place is truly a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Almora. Unlike the usual tourist spots that are often crowded and noisy, this location offers something much more meaningful — a sense of peace, calm, and self-reflection. It’s not just a place to see, but one to feel. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by an atmosphere of serenity that immediately slows you down and helps you disconnect from the chaos of everyday life. It’s important to note that this is not a place meant for rushing through or ticking off a checklist. Instead, it encourages you to take your time, breathe deeply, and simply be present. The surroundings are tranquil, filled with natural beauty that makes you want to sit quietly and soak in the moment. The calm energy here feels almost meditative — as if the entire place itself guides you toward mindfulness and stillness. Visitors who come here with patience and respect for its peaceful environment will truly appreciate what makes it special. Whether you’re someone seeking inner calm, a nature lover, or simply tired of city noise, this spot provides a perfect retreat. Every corner seems designed to promote reflection and harmony, reminding you to slow down and reconnect with yourself. The place also stands as a gentle reminder that not all beautiful destinations need to be loud or lively — some are best experienced in silence and simplicity. Maintaining this peaceful vibe is essential, so avoiding crowding and unnecessary disturbance is the least we can do to preserve its spirit. In summary, this is not just a destination but an experience of tranquility. Visit it with an open heart and a calm mind, and you’ll leave feeling refreshed, centered, and deeply grateful for the stillness it offers.

Visiting Kasar Devi Temple in Almora, Uttarakhand, with my family in the evening was an experience I’ll never forget. The moment we started ascending the hill, surrounded by pine and deodar forests, there was a calmness in the air that instantly lifted our spirits. The temple sits high above the valley, offering an incredible panoramic view of the Himalayas. As we reached just before sunset, the entire sky slowly turned golden, then pink and purple, reflecting beautifully over the distant peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul. It was such a mesmerizing sight that we stood there in silence for a while, simply taking it all in. The temple complex is small but filled with an unexplainable energy. There’s a main shrine dedicated to Goddess Kasar Devi, and nearby are temples of Lord Shiva and Bhairav Baba. Inside the premises, a sacred flame called Akhand Jyoti burns continuously, and the Dhuni (holy fire pit) nearby is said to have healing properties. Sitting there in peace, hearing the soft ringing of temple bells and feeling the cool mountain breeze, we could understand why so many people describe this place as spiritually magnetic. The surroundings add even more charm. Just outside the temple area, you’ll find a few cozy cafés and homestays where travelers from around the world come to meditate, paint, write, or simply enjoy the serenity. The atmosphere during sunset was magical—the orange glow fading into deep blue, the quiet rustling of trees, and a feeling that time had slowed down. It’s truly a place where nature and spirituality meet perfectly. ⸻ History and Significance: Kasar Devi Temple is believed to date back to the 2nd century CE and is dedicated to Goddess Kasar Devi. What makes it truly extraordinary is its location on the Van Allen Belt, one of only three spots in the world where the Earth’s magnetic field is exceptionally strong. This is said to create a powerful spiritual energy that aids meditation and inner peace. Swami Vivekananda meditated here in the late 1800s and wrote about his deep spiritual experience in his diaries. In the early 20th century, western mystics such as Sunyata Baba (Alfred Sorensen) and Lama Anagarika Govinda made Kasar Devi their home, turning it into a hub for spiritual seekers. Later, during the 1960s and 70s, the area became a favorite among artists, writers, and musicians from around the world. Personalities like Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and D.H. Lawrence are said to have spent time here, drawn by the tranquility and mystery of this Himalayan ridge, also known as “Crank’s Ridge” or “Hippie Hill.” The temple also hosts the annual Kasar Devi Fair during Kartik Purnima (November–December), attracting devotees and travelers alike. Over time, this hilltop has become not just a sacred destination but also a place of reflection, creativity, and deep connection with nature and the self.

Chauli Ki Jali, located behind the Mukteshwar Temple in Uttarakhand, is one of the most beautiful and adventurous viewpoints in the region. The site is famous for its naturally formed rock wall with holes (“Jali” means net or lattice), which adds a unique charm to the spot. According to local legends, Goddess Kali fought a demon here, and the marks on the rocks are believed to be from that battle. It’s also a popular destination for adventure lovers who enjoy rock climbing and rappelling. The combination of spiritual significance, natural beauty, and thrilling experiences makes Chauli Ki Jali a must-visit spot in Mukteshwar.

It's scenic and I think the only most visited place and attraction in Mukhteshwar, overcrowded no parking at all in season. Long traffic for cars.

If you already went to places like waichin valley, Tosh, munsyari, ladakh etc. this one may not impress you. However, sunset from the cliff is impressive and now the zipline is also added (fare 500 pp). Walking distance (5 minutes) from Mukteshwar mahadev mandir.

This place is situated just beside the Mukteshwar Dham Temple. There is walkway just beside the entry of the temple that leads you to this place. On the entry to the walkway, you have small open shops and eateries where you can munch on Samosa, Kachori, Fruit Chat, Rajma Chawal, Dal Chawal and much more. You need to walk around 500 mts before you reach this place and once you reach there are more eateries. There are even two ziplines if you are someone who loves thrill. The place is now heavily commercialized and that's my first complain with this scenic place. Chauli ki Jhali is essentially a mountain cliff which gives you breath-taking views of Himalayas and there is no wonder this place is so popular but due to heavy commercialization the place is very dirty and too crowded. You can spend good 15-20 mins here taking back the mesmerizing views the place has to offer. Also dno't forget to click some pics on the first cliff just when you enter the area. That spot is a good one. Totally recommened and more so in off season.

Mukteshwar Dham Temple is a must-visit iconic place in Mukteshwar, located about 40 km from Nainital. The temple, with its historical significance linked to the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, sits amidst beautiful deodar forests and offers a pleasant climate throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy not only the spiritual experience of the ancient Shiva temple but also breathtaking views after a short climb.
Mukteshwar Dham is a serene and spiritually uplifting destination nestled in the hills of Uttarakhand. It is also one of the Shakti Peeth. Beyond its spiritual importance, the temple also offers panoramic views of the surrounding valleys — a true visual treat. To reach the main shrine, you’ll need to climb a decent number of stairs, but the journey is worth it. During peak times, there are arrangements like scooty or bike rides available for those who prefer not to walk. On regular days, cars can comfortably reach up to the temple’s entrance. Mukteshwar Dham is a must-visit.

Peaceful and Divine Experience at Mukteshwar Dham Temple Mukteshwar Dham Temple is a must-visit spiritual spot in Mukteshwar and is considered to be one of the Shaktipeeths, which makes it even more sacred. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple has a strong spiritual aura that instantly fills you with peace and positivity. To reach the temple, you need to climb a series of stairs from the main road, and the short ascent feels refreshing amidst the natural surroundings. Once at the top, the atmosphere is serene and divine. Apart from its religious significance, the temple offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayas – truly mesmerizing and soul-soothing.

“Mukteshwar Dham is one of the most peaceful and divine temples I have ever visited. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is situated on a hilltop and offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The atmosphere here is calm, spiritual and full of positive energy. The temple is clean, well-maintained and perfect for meditation and prayers. Early morning darshan is especially blissful. A must-visit place in Mukteshwar for devotees as well as nature lovers.”

Great holy temple of Lord Shiva. Around 350 yrs old. We need to ascend some 136 steps but the temple and view from top is worth it. Chauli ki jaali too is near by to this place.

A serene temple with breathtaking views—but be prepared for a bit of a hike! Mukteshwar Dham Temple is truly a peaceful and spiritually uplifting place, perched right at the top of Mukteshwar. The view from up there is absolutely stunning—calm, serene, and perfect for some quiet reflection. The temple itself has a divine energy, and even though it can get a bit crowded, the overall experience is still incredibly soothing. That said, one thing to be aware of is the parking situation. Cops won’t allow you to drive all the way up to avoid traffic jams, so you’ll have to park about 1.5 km before the temple. From there, you have two choices: either enjoy a moderately steep uphill walk or hop on a scooter offered by local riders, which usually costs ₹50–₹100 for the ride to the top. The walk can be a bit of a challenge, especially for elderly people or those not used to walking uphill, so plan accordingly. Despite this small inconvenience, the view and the temple make it absolutely worth the effort.

Holi place in Nainital district of Uttarakhand about 57 kilometers drive from Nainital city. Temple of Mukeshwar Mahadev. Excellent view of snow peaks from Mukteshwar. Many luxury hotels are available there. There was apple orchards on the way. Temple is situated at the top of Mukteshwar.

If possible, AVOID going to the temple on weekends, especially during peak season. The cab-wallahs will not tell you that the cabs will be stopped about 2 kms before the temple, and then you will either have to walk all the way through a nightmarish traffic or hire a two-wheeler to cover that distance. You will end up paying 2500/- to the cab-wallah (from Kasiyalekh) and then either walk 2 kms (one way) to the temple or pay another 200/- to the two-wheeler-wallah (for one person) for riding one way. So, if you are a group of 4, you will have to shell out another 1600/- if you choose to take the two-wheeler ride for all, both ways. The locals exploit the situation, but the administration is not bothered. If you choose to go in a self driven vehicle, be prepared to get mad. If you are only 2 in a group, a better way would be to hire a two-wheeler to the temple from Kasiyalekh instead of going there in a four- wheeler. But, we were told that on weekdays the situation is not so bad. We visited this place on Saturday, 21 June 2025. I tried to find some peace, serenity, and calmness at the temple but failed miserably. The covered concrete steps to the temple are a recent construction (although it has definitely ruined the beauty of the natural surroundings of the temple). Before, it used to be a hike to the temple through the jungle around.

Blissful, a place to find inner peace, calm and quiet, swami Vivekananda's memory surrounds here
Roudrashis H — Google review
Advaita Ashrama, located in Mayavati, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math established on March 19, 1899, under the guidance of Vivekananda by his disciples James Henry Sevier and Charlotte Sevier. The ashram is dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta, rejecting the worship of images or idols, including those of Ramakrishna, in line with Vivekananda's ideals. Its primary goals are to study, practice, and promote Advaita philosophy without ritualistic practices, as well as to train others to disseminate this knowledge. Quickly becoming a hub for intellectual exchange between Eastern and Western thinkers, the Ashrama contributed to the widespread understanding of the core Advaita concept of the Atman, transcending physical and mental limitations. Additionally, it focused on creating an extensive body of literature in English, Sanskrit, and Hindi related to Vedanta and the teachings of Ramakrishna, the Holy Mother, and Vivekananda, thereby fostering a global spiritual and cultural renaissance. It is really nice place

This Aashram is situated 9 km from Lohaghat. Roads are narrow and with beautiful view. This place has morning and afternoon visit times and closed for a couple of hours for lunch. Beautiful view, Aashram hospital with free treatment, meditation room, Museum, lake, organic farming, Library. You can spend hours sitting and appreciating this place. No canteen, food stalls nearby. Booking for these ashram can be done via their website. Absolutely in love with this place.

Simply divine! This ashrama was the dream project of Swami Vivekananda. He himself stayed here. Over a century, it has remained the secluded spot for serious spiritual aspirants associated with Ramakrishna Movement. Stunning views of Himalayan peaks like Nandadevi, Nandakot, Trishul during the months of January - March delight the hearts of monks and devotees. The main building and Prabuddha Bharata buildings are of immense historical importance. No personality worship here, just the contemplation of Impersonal Absolute Self/Brahman. A must visit for all.

Very close to Champawat, about 21 km. Located in a perfect, well maintained, green place and developed vastly for the good of the people around. Advaita Ashrama, is a branch of the Ramakrishna Math, founded during 1899 at the behest of Vivekananda, by his disciples James and Charlotte Sevier. It is completely dedicated to the study and practice of Advaita Vedanta. No idol worshipping here, NONE what so ever. Initially when I had started visiting this place about 15 years ago, the flowers bloomed happily in front of the few meditative rooms. A nursery was there to provide to those, who were fascinated with the 'hard-to-find-elsewhere' plants which included to a few types of cactus, but no longer so. I had also managed to click a barricaded fantastic, out of the world , printing machine from olden days ( which has disappeared since).... and am trying to find the picture of it somewhere in my photo logs if possible. A hospital has now come up to look after the plight of quiet a few attendees and visitors, to care for there ailments. I have not only been fascinated with Shri Vivekanand's works and life but am equally fascinated to visit this place off and on, just to breath in the purity.

The Koshi River, also called the Sapta Koshi for its seven major tributaries. This is one of the largest rivers in Nepal, originating in the Himalayas, it flows southward, cutting through the Mahabharat Range and the Churia Hills before entering the Terai plains. The Koshi is significant for its immense water volume and its role in irrigation, hydropower generation, and supporting diverse ecosystems, including the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve. However, its volatile nature, particularly during monsoon seasons, has earned it the moniker "Sorrow of Bihar" in India due to frequent devastating floods.

I traveled by bike to the Koshi River, and it was an incredible experience. The journey was thrilling, with scenic landscapes, fresh air, and the excitement of the open road. Riding alongside the river, I felt a deep sense of peace as I took in the vast expanse of water and the surrounding natural beauty. Watching the sunset over the river made the trip even more memorable, making it a truly refreshing and unforgettable adventure.

The Kosi River near Mathura is a peaceful and scenic spot that offers a refreshing break from the hustle of city life. Surrounded by natural beauty and a calm atmosphere, it's a perfect place to relax, take a quiet walk, or simply sit and enjoy the flowing water. I visited during the early morning hours, and the experience was magical – the soft sounds of the river, cool breeze, and the golden sunrise reflecting off the water created a serene setting that felt almost spiritual. It's also a nice stop for those traveling between Delhi and Agra. If you're into photography or nature, you’ll appreciate the picturesque views, especially during the monsoon when the river is fuller and the surroundings are lush and green. While it's not a major tourist destination, that’s part of its charm – it remains relatively untouched and peaceful. Just make sure to keep the place clean and respect the natural environment. Highly recommend for a short visit if you're passing through the area or exploring the Mathura region.
