Georgia's equivalent of Fort Sumter in Charleston, SC. Touring the fort gives you the ability to imagine what life was like for the soldiers during the 1800's. There are trails to different part of the islands. One of the trails takes you over to the beach where you can see the light house. Better view though by taking one of the Dolphin Boat Tours in the area. The park store is located inside of the fort walls and not at the Visitor Center. Bathrooms are only located at the Visitor Center. They have a large Fig Tree which you are invited to snack from while touring the fort.

Great Fort to learn about history and hike to a lighthouse. 4 stars because they need better signage to get to the trail for the lighthouse and an actual trail like with gravel or paved sidewalk so you know you are heading in the right direction. You have to go through the grass behind the fort to find the first sign to get to the lighthouse. It’s about 3/4 miles to get to lighthouse. The grass was not cut short and it had been drizzling so it was wet and soggy and in some places that you couldn’t see because of the grass your shoes are covered in water. You walk further down the trail and there’s puddles of mud which are hard to get around which I ended slipping a few times, but luckily didn’t fall. We saw hundreds of crabs 🦀 as you got closer to the water and they were climbing the trees 😳😬. I think there was 2 short boardwalks and then the viewing area for the lighthouse. 2 binoculars are at the viewing area, but we just zoomed in with our camera phones. Beware of mosquitoes 🦟 attacking you on the trail, so bring repellent. Enjoyed the fort with all the tunnels, lost my husband for a while. They also showed the visitors how the cannons were loaded and shot, so loud. It’s $10 per person unless you have a National Park Pass.

A childhood field trip staple if you grew up in the area. I had to comeback 40 years later to experience it as adult. Nice history presentations from staff. Alot of walking and probably should have used sunscreen. Found the light house trail that never did as a kid. A nice preservation of important history

Haven't visited this place in decades. So Otto and I made a special trip so he could check it out. Little did he know that he would be tapped as a Fort Pulaski Bark Ranger! He did a great job of sniffing inside and outside of the fort. He also greeted several people and especially enjoyed the children. This National Monument is definitely worth the visit! PS. Kudos to Ms Jan for being an awesome park volunteer!!!

This is a really fascinating place to visit. The visitor's center gave a lot of the back story on the Fort, the people and the slaves who were part of building it and the wars they fought. The short movie they show was really informative. Walking through it really put into perspective what they experienced.

We spent about three hours on the Fort Pulaski grounds. Very educational for people of all ages. Very well done introductory film in the Visitor Center.

Clean, well maintained site with very friendly staff and educators. There were also restrooms, a water station, and air conditioning inside the visitor center! Amazing opportunity to learn and experience history.

Beautiful place to go for a walk, have a picnic, or just chill on a bench and people- watch or read a book! The trees are absolutely amazing!!! They also have a really cool farmers’ market on Saturday mornings with fresh produce, of course, and much more - food, art, various artisan goods, and fun, quirky surprises waiting to be discovered!

This is where I'd go daily if I were living here. What a fantastic park to have an afternoon stroll, relax at one of the beaches and people watch, or find a little spot on the grass to end the day. Great history too and is famous with many films featuring the park.

Don't miss this stop. It's breath taking. Beautiful old oaks adorn this park and create an inviting place to read, nap or people watch. You could bike and run, but not this time :). Water fountain was being repaired so no water works. But beautiful non the less.

Forsyth Park is such a beautiful and dynamic place! There’s always something going on. people having picnics, kids playing, sports, and sometimes even live music. The vibe is amazing, full of life and good energy. It’s a perfect spot for walking, relaxing, or just spending time outdoors.

Really cool park in Savannah. Very popular with travelers and locals alike. The Fountain is probably the most popular draw. But, tucked away in a corner of the park is a walled garden. I've been there about 20 times and could only access it maybe 3 or 4 times. Kind of reminds you of the secret garden. Great place to stretch your legs, take your dogs, or even just relax and read a book.

This park is fabulous! It’s a busy place on Saturday with soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, basketball, and anything else you can imagine. It also features a wonderful market along the central, live oak-line walkway. The fountain is beautiful and there’s construction happening and it looks like maybe a new zen garden is coming. There is a stage and I’d love to come back for a concert one day. Locals and visitors should take advantage of this amazing outdoor space early and often!

Beautiful park and it should be one of the first places to visit when you are in Savannah. There is also free parking by the tenis courts and free bus that can take you from there to the waterfront and free ferry wich is great for sightseeing the whole downtown area.

A beautiful and grand church building. The tour is self-guided and can be completed in a relatively short time. A docent was present to speak with visitors. He was friendly and knowledgeable. If you like organ music, go early. We were told that the organist often practices during the first hour of the morning tour period. The best part: there is no admission fee! A nominal freewill offering is requested.

Absolutely beautiful! I did not take an official tour. Just went in and explored. Friendly staff. The front outside was under construction, but I think it will be lovely once it is restored. This is an historical landmark, beautiful, serene and definitely worth seeing. Don't forget to leave a donation before you leave; they need this to keep the cathedral beautiful and historic.

Beautiful place! It was easy to get in, and the views inside are absolutely stunning. They even share great info about the church while you’re there. I recommend checking their website for hours before you go, but we were able to walk right in and even caught a quick performance from a band — such a nice surprise!

The is an absolute stunning place of worship. Definitely take the time to sit and absorb all the beauty. As a devote Catholic, it was a wonderful place to connect with my Lord Jesus Christ. However, you don't have to be religious to appreciate how special this place is..... I highly recommend stopping by if you are in town looking for a moment that matters.

Highly recommend visiting! A must-see on your trip to Savannah. It is absolutely gorgeous and so peaceful. Stunning architecture inside and out. There are areas inside for prayer and candle lighting. You can come and go as you please. There are guides in there to answer questions or give more information if needed. I will be back again.

The Cathedral was beautiful. It is open to the public during certain times as listed outside the building, but does have an active congregation with masses. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged and appreciated. Guests are asked to be respectful and quiet so those around them can have a quiet prayer time. We are definitely glad we hopped off the tour bus to go inside and see the beauty inside.

Beautiful Church. The stainless is beautiful beautiful pipe organ located in the back on the upper level. They do offer tours. It is open to everyone. They are currently doing construction sonit looks closed but it is not. If in Savannah and you like checking out old churches I highly recommended visiting.

Love Savannah, 3 day visit. Sunday- Wednesday. Perfect time. No crowds, took the land and sea tour. Very informative and fun. Downtown Historic area is very easy to walk. Lots of beautiful sites and plenty of places to get a bit or get a cocktail.

Simply stated, it’s one of the most beautiful cities you can visit. This time of year the weather is perfect for touring the town. Take the Trolley tour. There are 16 stops and the drivers are very knowledgeable about all the history and the buildings/homes. The selection of restaurants is incredible, ranging from burgers to fresh seafood. It’s also very walkable, within reason. Parking can be very difficult to find in the Garden District. Take the trolley, it’s goes to many places around the city.

Savannah is a beautiful city to explore!! Lots of history. We unfortunately only had a day, and it definitely wasn't enough time. We did the hop on hop off trolley tours. It was nice to have transportation around the area for the day while also having the freedom to just get off and explore. Which I highly recommend you do! The cemetery was very neat to see. I hope on our next trip to see more of what Savannah has to offer. These photos are just a glimpse into what we saw and what you can look forward to seeing yourself.

Savannah’s Historic District is full of charm and history, and it’s easy to explore entirely on foot. Beautiful live oaks & huge old statues. Best part of Savannah! Stay at a hotel on River Street or Bryan Street and walk to all the great shops, bars, restaurants and live music. Great for a weekend girls getaway.

Absolutely love Savannahs historic downtown. Love the history and preservation of the old home. Each square has its own park surrounded by old homes. Monuments depicting special events and people who made Savannah such a memorable place. The River district has a charm all of its own.

Good walk, better to visit in evening

This is a beautiful beach with a small boardwalk that leads to the clean beach. The boardwalk is lined with lots of seating under covered structured areas. The restrooms and changing areas are separate and clean. There's a handicapped parking lot located at the entrance to the boardwalk. It has 10-15 spaces. As you enter the area there's a water fountain for children to play, surrounded by benches for the parents to sit and watch. Dogs are allowed on the beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Dogs must be leashed.

A beautiful public beach. They also have free parking nearby. The beach is clean and the white sands are nice. The ocean also was not very rough so you could go into the surf without fear. Lifeguards are present as well. They have chairs and umbrellas for rent. The walk to the beach is well cared for and the plaza is also clean and inviting. Public restrooms are also clean.

Great little park with restrooms, well-maintained paths around the park with great access to the ocean. Large parking lot located right across the street. Benches, great artwork, incredible landscaping, and a large fountain. Highly recommend you visit here. Great place for a picnic or family event. Was not too crowded when we were here. A beautiful fine-sand beach with excellent amenities, including plentiful free parking, wifi hotspot, restrooms, rinse stations, even a bicycle tool and air up station! The park is located near Coligny Plaza Shopping, so you can walk the beach and then easily stroll to one of the many excellent restaurants very nearby. The beach is very clean and well kept, even includes a large shared toy box for the kids. Dog friendly, and typically not too crowded, at least in October when we like to visit. The views are beautiful, and you might see a fishing boat troll by. My favorite east coast beach by far. Free wifi and parking. Wheelchair accessible with a well maintained roll-out boardwalk to the sand. Miles of beach in each direction.

We went to this beach for the family vacation. It’s just a short walk from most rentals, safe, family-friendly, and never feels too crowded. The sand is soft and clean, perfect for walking barefoot, and even on cloudy days the weather stays mild. The water and waves are warm and gentle, making it a great spot to swim or just relax.

The perfect beach. There’s plenty of room. Nice water and nice sand. I need to come back this summer when the water is warmer. The bathrooms are extremely nice and parking is free!!!

The terrain of the beach is flat so you can walk atleast a hundred meters into the ocean, calm waves and white sand. One of the cleanest beach i visited so far. Great facilities for visitors like changing rooms, shower facility, a shack on the beach and lots more. Clean and green and ample parking space.

Very well maintained, family-friendly park with a nice scenic view of the marsh and Broad Creek. There are plenty of seating areas along with covered picnic tables. There are normally food vendors in the area, so there is no need to worry about going hungry. Nice playground for the kids. If you prefer a restaurant before or after, just stroll across the street, and you will find pretty much anything you could want. Nice place to go and relax.

Beautiful park with lots to enjoy! Wide open spaces make it perfect for walking, kids, dogs, and community events. We visited before lunch and enjoyed taking our little one to the playground and strolling the sculpture trail. The grounds are very well maintained, with plenty of benches and shaded spots to sit and relax.

Shelter Cove Community Park is a very well-designed shopping center, community park for the whole family to enjoy. All of the photos were taken on our recent visit at Christmas and the park is just beautiful! The playground is great with rubber mulch and very cushioned for wild kids like mine:). Large grass area to run around or picnic with the family. Hilton Head puts on events there all the time such as movie nights under the stars, snow at the beach, 4th of July celebrations etc. Check with the community calendar to make sure you don't miss out on any of the great events going on there. This is a park we often take people that come to the beach to visit us. They always seem to maintain the park very well and we will continue to go there as it is just a great place to hang out, walk around, shop, eat, date night and of course go and see Santa Clause at Christmas!

This was one of our favorite stops as a family on our day-long biking trip! Beautiful waterfront views and a very well put-together park with lots of seating, a very nice playground (with video surveillance), and restrooms. This park is right next to the French Bakery and other good eateries.

This is a wonderful place to watch the sunset. There are walking trails, picnic benches and a nice playground for kids. Lots of children, families, teens and elderly enjoying the evening. Several people were walking their dogs. This location is near the marsh and is very peaceful. We saw lots of water birds flying overhead heading to the rookery for the night.

Wide sandy beach. Beautiful sate park. We found a lot of sand dollars and a few sharks teeth.

An incredibly beautiful Beach and one of the best I've visited. Having visited beaches in Costa Rica and Antigua, this is up with the best of them. Due to a tornado many years ago, it gives the beach a unique tropical look, mixed in with an abundance of wildlife this is a must see in south Carolina.

We walked the Maeitime Forest Trail from the last parking area to the Nature Center this visit. About 2 miles one way. Then went over to Boneyatd Beach. We love this state park. The beach is great. Nice and wide at low tide. A great place for a beach day. The Nature Center and pier are definite must sees. Lots of dolphins play around in the area.

Beautifully kept campground, pristine and quiet beaches, bike and hiking trails through the maritime forests and marshes, nature center and fishing pier.

It has been a tradition of my family for as long as I can remember. I literally grew up here. Although this beach isn't my favorite, there's always heavy nostalgia every time I return. Our recent visit was for a pop up family gathering and a continued celebration of moms bday.

Beautiful park! The history of the lighthouse is amazing. Cute playground for kids to play on. The marsh walk was easy & lots of birds. The boneyard was amazing! So beautiful! A bit of a walk from the pier parking lot, but well worth it.

The area was really pretty. Unfortunately the lighthouse is under renovation so it was fenced off. The island and water is very enjoyable and their were showers to rinse the sand and salt water off. We even got to see an alligator in the water we were swimming in! Would you get out?!

Area is beautiful but the lighthouse has been under renovations for over a year, so I have yet to see it clearly or able to walk up to the top. Clean area with a lot of paths.

Very peaceful. This time is was very windy but plenty of Sun and a great place to camp also.

A beautiful lighthouse next to a very gorgeous beach. Yeah, you couldn't go in but I was still happy to see it.

The park was very beautiful and handy to the restaurants and shops. You could have the view from the waterfront and the marina. Unfortunately the walkway by the waterfront was closed. Apparently there's some safety issues there with washout or something so you couldn't walk right against the edge. Even so, the park still had a lot of space and beautiful trees and flowers. So it was still a nice little walk and there were public restrooms in one section. So that was nice to have available as well.

Inviting, friendly, very clean, extremely relaxing. I went to the Lowcountry Music Festival 6/7/25. Good variety of music, plenty of space to relax. Many food vendors, watch the boats sail away, eat, drinks, a few officers in view. Limited parking. Had to park a few blocks away from river. Many shops and little boutiques. Overall a great experience! Will visit Beaufort again!

This park offers many amenities for the young, old and in between. The kiddos gate to the slides and swings squeaks VERY ANNOYINGLY loud on purpose!!! I promise you when you hear it you're gonna think why won't they get some WD 40 for this gate. But it's an effective SAFETY feature to keep the kids safely inside the play area. There's live country music at certain times. Lots of restaurants and dessert parlors to enjoy. Many places to sit and watch the lovely boats dock while enjoying your meal. There's a parking lot,plus paid parking on the streets. If you're an athlete enthusist there's a bridge close by that crosses the river. It's available to walk or run across the bridge for extreme exercise. For those that enjoy mild exercise a walk on the parks pathways while enjoying the river breeze is very relaxing. Many benches and tables are scattered here and there in the park for those that tire quickly. Plaques and statues in the park provide historical knowledge to everyone whose interested in the culture and history of the area. A day spent here in the park will be a good day for any family. Every age group will be satisfied with this park and it's treasures.

This is a beautiful waterfront park. On this visit our grandchildren enjoyed the swings and water views. We also saw the Dragonboat Races - which was fun. Great playground for kids and restrooms.

This park has easy parking, a beautiful view, and a lovely playground for kids. Plus, local eateries are closed by if you get famished. Great for picnics, dates, and cute photos.

Great little park with free parking. Large grass area, benches, tree swings. This park has lots of shade. It is right on the water, and there is a public boat dock. Also clean restrooms.

Great little area to go for a walk. There is multiple restaurants to pick from if you want a bite to eat with great views. The restaurant I went to allowed my dog to come with me. The only thing that bummed me out is the walkway closest to the water was blocked off this time.

First of all, if you want to be one with nature, definitely stop by. If you love tea but don't know the process, you can learn more here. But I'm warning you, don't get your hopes up. :) It's a small business, and I'm sure they make more money from the gift shop and the troll tour than from the tea itself. The troll tour takes you to the tea fields, but since you can't get out of the vehicle, you only have to look at it from a distance. The gift shop offers hot and cold tea. However, I'm not much of a tea person, so I guess I didn't like it very much. (I've been on similar tours in England and Turkey before, and they were much better.)

We skipped the trolley tour and just did the free factory tour. Really interesting to learn how tea is made. The free tour is via a video on multiple tv screens. It’s informative and only took about 15 minutes. The shop had some products that seemed local, but most stuff is not made in the US. However, we still enjoyed the tea store. The plantation was beautiful and the drive in was stunning. Totally worth the visit!!

Had a great time learning how tea is harvested and made at the only tea farm in the United States. Trolley tour around farm was very informative. Gift shop was awesome. If you are in the area, it is a must see.

What a fun visit! I had no idea that the main teas were all made from the same plant. The video is very informative and will give you an approximation of the magical qualities of tea leaves. The gift shop has a lot of interesting items.

Spur of the moment side quest. 💯% worth it. The trolley tour was a beautiful, educational and entertaining experience. Our guide and trolley driver was great. We enjoyed ourselves beyond belief.

I came with low expectations and left with surprisingly high realizations. The trolley tour was more fun than I thought that it would be. The tour guide (Kimberly? I'm sorry if that isn't your name) was hilarious. The actual ride of the tour was not particularly special but the guide made it fun. I tried to watch the factory tour videos but someone released about a dozen ankle biters into the building. They were loud and made watching the video impossible. Still, seeing the process was interesting. They had free tea tasting samples. I might have indulged too much. Can tea make you drunk? Anyway... we ended up having a lot of fun. If a fat, middle aged, bearded white guy can have fun, so can you.

Great tea learning opportunity with friendly staff and fun and super interesting trolly tour the factory tour was good too the have free tasting of all both hot and cold and an awesome gift shop. Beautiful grounds and large restrooms everything is clean and well kept.

A beautiful church where you can stop for a breath of fresh air along the way. You can enjoy the beautiful trees, the silence, and the peace. And of course, you can enjoy the tranquility. If you have small children, you can show them how to pump water from the well on the right of the entrance. They'll have a lot of fun. It's also possible to take a journey into history. You can park your car in the parking lot across the street.

It's free to see this cool piece of history. The grounds are well taken care of. There are picnic tables to sit and reflect or enjoy a nice lunch.

I love it. It's a cute few minutes stop to stretch after a long drive. It's nice and relaxing driving inside the "tree tunnel". The ground around the ruins is well maintained as well. It's a lovely, pretty old church ruins. FREE ADMISSION

A very interesting stop after leaving Edisto Island. The church ruins were empty, after a brief rain. Not even a mosquito; and this was July! The place takes you back in time. A lot of history here. Worth stopping.

Nicely maintained spot. Several headstones scattered about with varying degrees of maintenance. Picnic tables and an old timey water pump that works. Be mindful of this road and the way people drive here, way too fast. There is a parking area across the road which isn’t obvious at first. Some parking on the road but I don’t recommend it.

Absolutely beautiful landmark. Definitely worth the stop to view the ruins and visit a few of the graves of pioneers that settled there. Nice picnic area off to the side, parking across the road. Interesting that the hand pump on the well inside the gate still pumps water, can just imagine pumping water for the horses while families attended church 170 years ago

Absolutely love driving and seeing something that looks cool and turning around to check it out. This unplanned stop had a lot of history and was very well taken care of. This is the ruins of an old church, older than this country and gravesites that date back as far as the 1700's. Easy parking.

I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. It made the entrance easy and was able to plan ahead to think about what guided tours we wanted to do in advance. The grounds at Middleton are gorgeous! We learned about the Middleton family, some of the people who worked on the plantation through the years and the historical significance of plantation in shaping history. I wished the docent were more explicit about why the black slaves did not runaway or when they did the harsh repercussions. There was vert discussion about the psychological scarring of slavery and the fear instilled upon all.

It’s like taking a step back in time when entering this rice plantation. The gardens are kept in a way that you can feel the history and age. The knowledge from the staff and the few tours we did was impressive. We spent about 4hrs doing two small tours and enjoying the grounds.

I’m really glad I had the opportunity to visit this plantation. Its story is at the heart of America’s colonial beginnings. Several tours are included with the price of admission and I appreciated their Garden Tour as well as their Beyond Slavery Tour. Whether your walking the grounds, coming for lunch, or learning it’s deep history, one could easily spend the day here.

My daughters and I visited yesterday. We took the Beyond the Fields tour, about the Enslaved People's experience, with Linda. We all found it to be very informative and even emotional. The property is well preserved and tended and the docents are quite knowledgeable. The Middleton Oak is magnificent. Being mid-August, the weather was hot and humid which, combined with an approaching thunderstorm, cut our visit short. We agreed that our visit was a highlight of the trip.

This place is absolutely beautiful and the guides are great! Put on your walking shoes and prepare to see alligators. I would like to see access to the house included in admission price as it is not cheap. Also please have sandwiches/wraps in snack bar that is at entrance.

We were in town from Michigan to attend a Sunday wedding. The wind was very strong and the temperature really dropped. The wedding was held outside by the large trees. It was very scenic but quite a walk from the parking lot to spot wearing high heels. The parlor where the reception was held was a bit overwhelmed by the number of guests. There were no cocktail tables to place snacks and cocktails prior to the reception starting. The food was great and the bartenders were very attentive. It was a romantic spot for a wedding but from a logistics perspective, very challenging to get transportation to and from our hotel. Guests had to take the shuttle to and from the venue. The reception ended by 10:30 PM to account for the return shuttles to the hotel. Family and friends made it a wonderful event.

I could have spent days here instead of just a few hours. The vast grounds offer dazzling landscapes. There are tours and stories about the generations of families who lived here, both the enslaved and the plantation owners. It is a trip back in time.

Several times a year we visit the serenity here. Spring is our favorite. Everyone enjoys the music and lights at Christmas, everyone loves the colors of Fall, but the magic of Spring and all of the turtles, the flowers, the Koi pond and the crisp newness of the promise of our new year, this is my absolute favorite. You can walk the paths, sit on the benches, bird watch fish watch or swing on the swings up on the hill or walk your dog or have a small picnic. The most relaxing place in aiken sc !

How fun to find a botanical garden in the middle of Aiken. Enjoyed a picnic lunch there. There's also a horse racing museum there, but wasn't open on the Wednesday we were there.

Very beautiful and peaceful place to take a walk and view history of Aiken. You can bring your dog too. I will go back when the flowers are in bloom. We saw giant coy fish, turtles, big bullfrog and many butterflies and birds. Such a special place for Aiken to have and share for free with visitors.

Had a good walk with family members. The labyrinth is a nice feature.

Hiked a few trails here and it was beautiful!! Nicely maintained even on the more difficult trails. They're currently working on half of the board walk so it was closed but the side that has been refinished is wonderful!

My first national park visit in the US! Lovely place! Private kayaking available which gives you the true experience of the place. Loved every bit of it! Whether you are looking for a casual stroll, or looking for a long hike, this place has it all. Truly blissful experience deep into nature. Highly recommend visiting here during spring and enjoy kayaking!

Let me tell you something. This place right here is free and one of the best places to take your whole family on a hike and a picnic. Plenty of parking. Plenty of pavilions with picnic table under them. Eat lunch or breakfast or early dinner. Whatever works for you. Bathrooms are always super clean. Cute store with lots of souvenirs to buy and options. Also store has very good information on the park and all the cute creatures you might see on your wall. Can't stop going back to this place. So proud! So happy with the staff. Let maintain this place. They do such a great job. They make it easy to want to be outdoors.

It is a large National Park. Not a park I was familiar with until we went to South Carolina. The Park Service has done a wonderful job with the boardwalk. We went on the path that was over a mile long. We saw some wildlife. We saw a millipede that is pictured. We saw a couple of turtles in the swampy area. A naturalist working there pointed out an owl, alligator, ibis and a couple of alligator gar. Everything but the owl, turtles and skink were at the end area that is an observation deck. It was well worth our time and they also had a nice visitors center you must check out.

Great national park and one of the most unique I have visited. The boardwalk loop was very nice, even though part of it was closed. Plenty of wildlife and plants to see including the bald cypress. Mosquitos were fine, but the horseflies were a bit annoying. The visitor center was nice and the rangers were helpful. 5 stars :)

While not the most majestic national park, Congaree was a magical and unique park to visit! Walking the boardwalk was very peaceful and you can almost full a unique energy to the park. It was definitely worth visiting! Unfortunately I did not see too much wild life but hope to come back one day and explore more the park. And maybe explore more of it when it is more wet! I went in early July and thankfully the mosquitoes were actually not bad at all so it can definitely be a hit or miss in terms of how many mosquitoes you run into!

Really interesting place. They have some huge spiders, the big ones are mostly harmless. See pictures below of one spinning her web. Walking path thru the trees. Wheelchairs can go through, which I thought was great. It is buggy so bring spray. You can see the fireflies at night from what I am told. We went in the day time.

We bought tickets online ahead of time and they were slightly cheaper and you paid for parking right then too. The park was great, we went for my son's first birthday and just walked around and enjoyed everything!! I used to go there as a kid so I wanted to take him there as well. We drove from Savannah, GA! Would definitely recommend for a family trip. Great place, looks clean, nice staff, easy pathways, animals look well taken care of. Fun all around!!

We were visiting from out of town and looking for something to do and what a pleasant surprise we loved the zoo and gardens! There's lots of animals to see, some we hadn't seen in any zoos back home. Then you can take their new sky tram (included in ticket) to visit the garden side. I'm not a huge fan of plants so I didn't have high expectations, but that side was excellent as well! Right now they have Lego sculptures on display which is fun. Lots of paths to explore and a huge kid area with water features (seasonal) and other fun things. If I were local I would definitely buy a membership.

I can’t believe this place is only an hour and a half from my house—how have I never been here before? I was absolutely blown away from top to bottom. The entire zoo is incredibly elaborate, and you get to see every type of animal, bird, reptile, and fish you can imagine. It was truly unbelievable. I saw stuff i never saw before and I am a zoo addict. The closeness to animals was amazing. Every animal looked happy and well cared for, and the enclosures were spotless. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. I’m still shocked by how many different animals you can see here. Five stars doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. If you’ve never been, you need to go. I visited at a time when there was almost no one there, but I’ve heard it can get busy, and annoying —so definitely try to pick your timing. Either way, it’s worth every minute and penny. Im coming back this week with my little brother sponsor.

Always love a trip to the Zoo with the family. This time we headed to the botanical gardens. Did not disappoint. Amazing staff, lots to see and the air ride over the lake was great amd saved us a walk between the Zoo and botanical gardens. Will definitely return in the spring.

Went on a fairly busy day, but were able to move through everything in about 3.5 hrs with two young kids. Loved this zoo. Its not too big and provides a lot of shade on the paths and theres a good mix of indoor/outdoor exhibits, so going in summer won't be horrible. Theres a lot of events for kids like animal feeding, obstacle courses, carousel, and lots of food/bathroom stations scattered around. For 2 adults and 2 kids, it was over $100 to get in, but that didnt include the extra costs for animal feeding and extra events.

We’ve been here twice already, and we really love this place! Everything is compact, so you don’t have to walk too much. There are so many animals, all of them are adorable. Sometimes you can even see the feeding time, usually around noon. The area is clean and well-kept. I love animals, so I try to come here as often as I can.

The animals at Riverbanks Zoo are well cared for and very well fed. The zoo is small enough to walk in an afternoon but has so many animals and things to see that you could easily spend the entire day! Definitely get the upgraded family membership. Feeding the animals over and over was a must when we went.

This winery is absolutely beautiful! So many cozy spots to sit, both indoors and outdoors. They have a restaurant on-site, and while the food was decent (I’d get my dish again), the mimosa was absolutely delicious. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the scenery! We truly enjoyed the fireplace as the weather was a little cool that day.

What a beautiful place! The grounds are immaculate, and the architecture is stunning. Special thanks to Devin, Savannah, and Anna L., who were so kind and helpful. They were all knowledgeable and friendly, and made our trip that much better. This has quickly become our favorite vineyards. We are definitely coming back.

Lori was wonderful! Exceptional wine knowledge mixed with charm and great pairing recommendations. The wine was delicious, the charcuterie box was a nice addition, water refills timely and a pleasant atmosphere. I've been doing wine tastings for awhile, this was my first local one in NC! We'll be back. Only downside restaurant was closed and packed. We'll make reservations in advance next time.

Winn was a fantastic tour guide! Very knowledgeable. The vineyard is beautiful. We took family from out of town and thought this woukd be a great day trip. Bistro has very good food, portions are big, price not bad. Definitely recommend!

We visited for wine tasting. Our hostess, Erin was absolutely amazing and as smart as Einstein! We learned so much from her about wine and pairing. She was kind and knowledgeable. Also the wine was really good with quite a variety to choose from. The scenery was picturesque. Be prepared to take pics. We’ll definitely be visiting Childress again.

I truly enjoyed the tour with Gail as our host. She explained the process during every step beginning with the history, so very well. Love her love for the wine culture!

Today we celebrated my cousin's birthday. We started at the bistro where we were kindly greeted by Jordan and AJ. Mahogney was our server and she did an outstanding job as well as Ireland and Abigail. Kendra and Tyler also came out to wish my cousin a happy birthday. Then we worked our way up to the gift shop where we were greeted by Grace. Grace, Sarah, and Meredith were very attentive and catered to our every need!

It is a very fun and beautiful old town to visit that immerse you in history. You get to experience how things were done a few hundred years ago. The staff was amazing at every building you walked into. They give you so much information about that time period as well as the history of the people that lived there. A must see if you love history. They also have fun little shops like a bakery, coffee shop and a lounge of sorts with live music. Fun fun fun!

So good to learn about history in person. The mixed emotions roll through me,Seeing the beautiful buildings, town and folks making so many important things by hand. But also the sadness and unbelievable truth about smart Americans believing they could own people! Horrible part of or past we should face not hide or downplay.

Old Salem has a nice and cool visitors center to start and end your tour. MESDA has a lovely way to see how households might have looked in the earlier days of WS history. There is a lit of walking on uneven surfaces. The professional docents are kind and informative. Some of the volunteer docents clearly do not like kids and should be encouraged to remember that they have paid tickets too.

It’s always a fun experience to walk around Old Salem. Not sure if it was off-season this time, but there were very few people around. Last time I was here for fall, it was so crowded and so many shops were open. It was still nice to walk around the streets and take some pictures. Some of the museums needed tickets for entry but we didn’t have it. It feels like you’re back in time walking the stone roads and seeing the old architecture.

This is my go to place to hike because it is literally in my backyard. Trails are maintained and marked very well. There are several trails with different levels of difficulty ranging from easy too hard, so there is something for all skill levels. I love seeing people out there with their pets and young ones. It does my heart good to see young people getting away from TVs and video games.

We made a fall trip with bunch of friends to this gem of a place. Views and rock formations were amazing. We did a few short trails. The one called Pilot knob trail is a must, it is 0.8 mile and takes just a little to go around the top. Drive from Charlotte was easy. We didn’t have to use shuttle as there were many parking spots on top of mountain but they do have shuttles from the bottom parking lot if top one is full. State park folks has maintained this park to the top notch. Some parts were closed for rock climbers while in other part we saw many climbers.

We hiked the Grindstone and the Pilot Knob Trails. Both trails are well maintained and marked. While Grindstone is rated strenuous, I would rate it moderately strenuous. Overall it's mostly moderate due to the trail surface itself being well maintained and use of switchbacks to ease the climb. One section above the 1.5 mile marker is more difficult as it's not switchbacked with a steeper pitch up the mountain and a bit rocky. The views from Little Pinnacle Overlook and Pilot Knob Trail are outstanding. The top is a bit like Mount Mitchell since you can also drive to the top. Pick your time to do the hike carefully to avoid the crowds at the top!

I have always loved Pilot Mountain State Park! When I was little, my family would go camping here every year. I'm glad it is still thriving and loved that they have added a shuttle for more people to be able to enjoy the Knob. It was certainly busy but there are many different trails to choose from. If you bring a dog, they are not allowed on the shuttle. We took the Grindstone trail from the visitors center up to the knob (3.5 miles one way). There were definitely some strenuous sections but also some flattish sections that provided a bit of a break. Bathrooms at the top were clean and there were working water fountains outside the bathroom!

Arrived early for a star party with the Forsyth astronomy club at the summit parking lot. It became cloudy at night but I did get some sunset pictures. Great visibility. On a clear day, with binoculars, you can see the condos on top of Sugar Mountain, which is 79 miles away. Winston Salem and Greensboro skylines are easy. You can see the Charlotte skyline (80 miles away) also. If you hike the Little Pinnacle trail, you will see Hanging Rock/Moore's Wall and Sauratown mountains. The visitor center is tremendous and very informative. Learn about the history of the Saura Indians, animals, flora, fauna and geology of this region.

What a very cool park. We were looking to hike up but found a road all the way to the top and do a nice hike around a few locations. What a great view.

Majestic views. Better than I expected. The drive up to the top was beautiful with the fall leaves all around us. Then at the top there are several lookouts to enjoy the top of Pilot Mountain, trees and valley from above.

This is the 2nd time we we’ve visited Tweetsie the first time was during Christmas and it was so much fun! However, I think I prefer coming on a non-holiday. The experience was great but half of the park/ rides weren’t open during the off-season since it was cold / snowy. My 3.5 year old daughter is about 34 inches tall and was able to ride every ride except for the three big ones! 10/10 recommend, we had so much fun!!

Our 4 year old son is, as most little boys, very interested in trains right now. So, when we decided to have a nice autumn weekend trip in the Blue Ridge mountains, we obviously had to come visit. Tweetsie Railroad is a great, smaller-time amusement park with your typical locomotive and wild west themes. We definitely enjoyed all the rides, exploring the shop, seeing the shows, and of course, riding the train. Highly recommend for anyone with steam locomotive loving children (and adults!)

It was absolutely fantastic! I had a great time here, the rides are amazing, the food is great, the historical ET&WNC 12 and Yukon Queen 190 are 2 fantastic locomotives, the ride around the mountains has great scenery, the cowboy show is also great and well scripted, the gift shop has a lot of nice items, feeding the animals is fun, you can also pan for gold. I would definitely recommend this place if you like steam locomotives or if you just like amusement parks.

So much fun for all ages! The Gohst Train was great, the rides fun, and the haunted house! Our group had ages from 5 to 45. We all had a blast. Loved the shopes and the food was good too!

I been coming to Tweetsie since I was a child. My family loves the mountains and Tweetsie. Now my children and grand babies are getting the experience I had as a child. We love it here! ❤️ Great place to take your family and make lots of memories. This was our first time riding the ghost train and we LOVE it! The park was decorated along with the train. The train was our favorite. They had trick-or-treat for the kids different types of shoes throughout the park. We rode the rides in the dark. It was so much fun. Our next adventure will be Christmas at Tweetsie. We can’t wait.

Fantastic experience! We enjoyed the Ghost Train and did the Halloween experience. So much fun. We definitely will be back. The haunted house and freaky forest were the right amount of scare for our 9&11 year olds and so fun. Plenty of parking, organized so well, lots to see and do, minimal wait times for rides, so fun. The staff was 10/10 and so friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs having fun with everyone!

Tweetsie doesn’t disappoint. If you have kids from the ages of 4-10 it’s a great family experience. I prefer the way it was in the 1980s and 1990s with gunfire (blanks) and cowboy and Indian (Native Americans), but it is still a great family fun destination.

I can't share enough good things about our recent experience at Harvest Grill & beautiful Shelton Vineyards. Although, we have enjoyed eating there before, this time our daughter was getting engaged. Benson White & the staff all went above & beyond to make it extra special for the happy couple & our immediate family!! The table was lovely & we had the most amazing food. Everyone loved the charcuterie board!! It was beautiful & so delicious! I'm very happy we went with this location. It could not have been a more perfect evening for our family.

Shelton is gorgeous first off! We had reservations at the Harvest Grill and it was a fantastic meal! We didn’t let the drunk people beside of us ruin it - they had definitely had too much to drink when you’re stumbling through the restaurant and can’t find your friends and having to hold onto chairs- so aside from that- the ambiance of the restaurant was 10/10 and the food was delicious. My favorite wine was the dry rosé! After the meal we went over to the tasting room and enjoyed a flight of 5 wines. They had cute items for sale as well as chocolates. We really enjoyed our visit and would come back again.

Made reservations for our Anniversary. Great atmosphere, relaxed, comfortable and great service. Ashley was a great server, took great care of us and Benson the manager helped make our evening very special. Definitely would recommend as a great place to eat. We will be back.

Our server Kim was excellent. The Halibut dinner was over the top. Have dined at the Harvest Grill many times and it is always 5 star. Amanda was responsible for our fine dining experience.

Wonderful dinner at Harvest Grill . The Pork Ribeye was so tender and the special chicken parm Alfredo was amazing . Large portion. Best Alfredo sauce I have ever had . Thank you to Benson and Cortney for making our date night extra special .

We went for my birthday. The food was great as well as the service. Our server Adrianne B was wonderful. This was our 1st time, and there was a little issue with a part of our food, but it was taken care of promptly. Being a vegetarian, it was nice to have several options. We will be back in a few months for our anniversary.

We had a late lunch reservation. Our server took forever to take our orders. Then we waited an extremely long time for our food to come to the table. They were not very busy so not sure what took so long. Four orders were for hamburgers ranging from medium rare to medium for the meat. All four were well done and dry. One order was for a chicken salad and the chicken was dry and overcooked. We visit Shelton a few times a year for their wine. This is the second year in a row we ate at the restaurant and were disappointed both times. We will be eating elsewhere for now on.

We were staying nearby so of course we had to visit! We just love his show and enjoyed seeing all the memorable at the museum. We even managed to snap our pics with the statue out front. Worth a visit if you are fans of the show.

My kids took me here for my birthday and it was great! We did the trolley tour so we could all be together and our guide was AMAZING!! The museum was great, we also walked along the town and it was fun. It was really just a super fun day!

A fun stop. Spent about an hour. Learned a lot I didn't know about the legend that is Andy Griffith. Ticket price was a little steep considering the size of the attraction. Wouldn't return, but glad we went on our way through Mt. Airy.

The museum was full of artifacts from the Andy Griffith show and many of the movies he was in. We thoroughly enjoyed the museum and the town. I highly recommend visiting for at least a day. The people of Mt Airy were very friendly and welcoming.

4 stars really. Has some cool Andy stuff not just from the show either, movies and all. I purposely didn't take pictures of some of the neatest things. Of course that's my opinion. Kinda small but entry is only $10 & crammed full of stuff. Loved the clothes etc .

This is a great museum packed full of memorabilia and displays regarding the life surrounding Andy Griffith and cast members of the Andy Griffith show. It is very enlightening and entertaining.

We attended a beautiful wedding and spent 2 nights. The wedding and dinner after were both perfect. The bunker tour was very interesting, and the tour guide was great. The tour is very overpriced. Although, everything at The Greenbrier is overpriced. There are no slippers, robes, or hairdryers in the rooms as stated on the website. Also, there’s a strict dress code listed on the website. However, it’s not enforced. We somehow got roomed next to someone who brought their dog that decided it needed to bark incessantly each night at about 10 pm. Both nights, I called and ended up having to go to the front desk to have them find the owners to quiet the dog. The personnel were all wonderful and apologetic. They did remove the “resort fee” for both nights. The 9.75% Historic Preservation Fund fee per night is a bit of a joke considering it doesn’t seem that the building itself is being preserved or kept up with. It’s very hot in the resort. There is air conditioning in the rooms. Because of the age of the building, there is none in the hallways. If you go in the summer, expect to sweat a lot. I understand that a lot of people don’t like the decor. While it’s not my taste, I understand keeping it that way for the historical value. I would personally never again pay what we did to stay there. However, there are people who can afford to spend that kind of money and enjoy doing it.

I was really excited to book this trip for my family. It turned out to be far from what we expected. The rooms are old and outdated. Floors are carpeted and dirty. We had a rollout bed brought to the room, the springs were coming through. There is visible mold in some of the ceiling corners of the hotel. My kids were really looking forward to watching the movie offered at the hotel and it didn’t work the two days we tried to go there. For the cost, it’s just not worth it. This resort is in need of serious renovation. The only positives were the carriage ride, walking grounds, and shuttle. The employees are very nice. I would not recommend nor come back.

My favorite place in the world. It is charming, luxurious, rich with history, the grounds are gorgeous, the staff makes you feel like you are right at home. The Greenbrier is my favorite destination in the United States. I will forever be vacationing at The Greenbrier, it is unparalleled and incredibly special. Rooms are lovely, decor is enchanting and there is a surplus of activities from pickleball to tennis to golf to horseback riding to skeet shooting to fly fishing. The Greenbrier reminds you what life is really about. Unwinding, spending quality time with people you love and being one with nature!

The grounds of this place are amazing. We enjoyed the fall outdoors very much. However, this place is way overpriced for the service and food if you are staying in the resort. They clearly put all their effort towards members and honestly dont seem to care much about just hotel guests. The whole experience is way overpriced for what it is. It prices itself as a high end resort but the rooms and service is not anywhere near that. The food is mediocre at best and I got sick one night from it. Everything is overpiced as is but then they add all these extra fees and even a liquor tax (despite the fact that restaurants outside dont hvae the tax). They also charge you crazy fees to cancel anything and EVERYTHING. When we arrived we heard a guest at registration trying to leave early (I now understand why) and they refused to allow her to not pay for the remaining night ($800). OK, that MAY be understandable at hotels but this is high end place. It was cold so we tried to cancel our outdoor jeep adventure and they refused since were within 24 hours (and they were not nice about it), and we tried to cancel a dinner reservation because their food MADE ME SICK the night before and they charges us $50 per person to cancel! I asked to speak to the manager and the crappy concierge guy said "there's no point, they will charge you to cancel too." again, this is an expensive plance, treat us better. We stayed at other high end resorts and as soon as you book a room, they call and ask to help schedule things. This place never called after we booked and seemed like we were bothering them when we called and tried to confirm a king bed and inquired about reservations. So disappointing.

This place claims to be a 5 star resort. Not even close to five stars. The grounds are lovely. The hotel itself was decorated by Dorothy Draper and then her protege decades ago. I happen to like the retro bold colors and patterns and it gives a cool vintage vibe. That’s in the common areas. Where they lost me was the rooms. I tried to tell myself that it goes with the theme to make myself feel better but that didn’t work. The rooms are nothing but dated. Stains on the bright GREEN carpet, shabby furniture, canoe like mattress, our mattress was so bad that we asked to charge rooms. The bed in the second room was better and the bathroom had been updated. Same old tired carpet but the furniture was not as scuffed. Chairs in the room may have been sat on by Eisenhower himself. I don’t feel dirty per se but also don’t feel entirely clean. We ate at two of the restaurants. Sam Snead at the golf course and Prime 44. Both were good. Prime 44 is a nicer updated restaurant and the service in both were excellent. Did the bunker tour and it was interesting. Tour guide Margaret was excellent. Before coming know on every single thing you do or purchase there is a 9.75% Historic Preservation Fee. I mean everything. Food, drinks, bunker tour, gift shop etc. I’m not sure how the fee is being used because this entire hotel needs to be spruced up. It’s literally saying “I’m tired boss”

Booked a suite for 3 people and there is one bathroom (person using pull out needs to come into our room), mattress in the pull out bed is FULL of springs and so uncomfortable. We had to pull the bed out ourselves and call housekeeping for pillows and comforters (had to call 3 times before someone answered) Dinner was good, but my meal had a large piece of plastic in it and the waiter (not his fault) did not know how to handle it. Espresso martini does not have actual espresso and presentation is horrible. They weren’t able to make 2 of their offered cocktails because they were out of the ingredients. Not worth $1200 a night.

The grounds are beautiful and incredibly well kept and the history is unique but food is just okay and everything is wildly expensive with several restaurants closed and limited options to eat. Rooms are fine not great. The golf course (Old White specifically) is a great course but the pro shop opens only 30 minutes before the first tee time and the restaurant and halfway house were closed so it’s a scramble to get a cup of coffee or food in the morning. Falconry is $250 per person after fees and is cool but not that cool… It’s an interesting place to visit with a lot of history but the value isn’t there for the price.

Wonderful ride through the gorge. Well worth the 45 minutes that I cludes a few stops to grap pictures. Scan the QR code to listen to the audio file of history as you take the ride through beauty and history. The rangers at the welcome center was awesome!

We came for bridge day and it was spectacular! They close the bridge and catapult adventurous spirits straight into the New River below. Over 300 base jumpers from all over the world put on their packs and parachute down. It’s a sight to see! Lots of great vendors, food and events at during that weekend. We attended the taste of bridge day the evening before at the adventures on the gorge and it was awesome!

One of the most iconic views in West Virginia. Seeing the bridge in person is completely different from photos, it stretches across the gorge like it’s floating, and the scale doesn’t fully hit you until you’re standing at the overlook looking out across miles of mountains. The bridge itself is one of the longest single-arch steel bridges in the world and also one of the highest in the U.S. It sits almost 900 feet above the river. The engineering alone is impressive, but the landscape around it is what really makes it special. The mountains roll in layers, and in the fall the colors are stunning reds, oranges, golds, and deep greens all stacked into the valley. There are several great viewing spots, but the Canyon Rim Visitor Center overlook and Long Point Overlook give the best angles. Long Point especially feels unreal, you’re right across from the bridge, eye-level with it. If you visit in October during Bridge Day, people BASE jump and rappel directly off the bridge, it turns into a full festival. Whether you’re hiking, just passing through, or stopping for photos, the New River Gorge Bridge is a must-see. Beautiful, massive, peaceful, and unforgettable.

Amazing place to visit. If you love history and nature at the same time, one of the best place to see in USA 🇺🇸❤️. 🏞️📍SUMMER 2024 The completion of the New River Gorge Bridge on October 22, 1977 solved a travel challenge. The bridge turned a 40-minute drive into less than a minute. It removed the need to navigate down narrow mountain roads across an ancient river. When it comes to road construction, mountains do pose a challenge. At New River Gorge, the challenge transformed into a work of structural art. The New River Gorge Bridge is the longest steel span in the western hemisphere. It is also the third highest bridge in the United States. The New River Gorge Bridge is one of the most photographed places in West Virginia. In 2006, the U.S. Mint chose the bridge to represent West Virginia on the state commemorative quarter. In 2013, the National Park Service listed the New River Gorge Bridge in the National Register of Historic Places. This listing signifies the importance of the bridge as a historic resource.

Beautiful fall colors and bridge view was outstanding! We were there on a Thursday before Bridge day on Saturday. Board walk was easy accessible from Visitors Center. Steps are 175 if you decide to walk all the way to the bottom. We only went about half way and did fine with an amazing view anyway. You can also drive around to the bottom

Went mid October 2025. This was a nice stop, a full service welcome center with bathrooms. It was very clean. However, it was also very crowded at this location, even after the welcome center closed. The bathrooms are locked inside the welcome center, making it impossible to go after 5pm. It is a short walk to the view of the bridge then some steps down to see a better view. Maybe a 5-10 minute stop total. This place is partly dog friendly. You can bring your dog to see the bridge. But for bridge day dogs are not welcome. Which is wild and quite frankly very sad considering it is quite literally an outdoor event. That made us disappointed and we did not go to bride day because of that. I would go back to see the view if I was in the area. No hiking or anything else exciting around there. But stunning views it was my second time here.

An iconic piece of architecture and featured on the West Virginia version of the state series quarters, this is the third tallest bridge in the US. While you can't really appreciate its height from the 4-lane highway that crosses it due to the high concrete barriers, seeing it from the Canyon Rim Visitor Center or from down below it is pretty impressive. Worth your time to visit, as the area is beautiful, especially during Fall like it was when we were there over the last week.

Beautiful experience The tour was very well organized. Carl and Ella both were exceptional in explaining, supporting and encouraging all of us through the zipline tour. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The price may seem high but once you reach and go through the 2.5 hours awesome experience then you will totally forget about the money and take a boatload of great experience with you. Unbeatable experience.. It’s one of the best Zipline tours I’ve been on. Canopy tours operations department really had styled in. I had a low bar set, but I was thoroughly impressed. It is truly World class. Speaking from an operational perspective, They nailed all the details, from harness us up to safety checks, to smooth, professional tour guides, they even watered the dusty roads down, so you don’t get caught and clogs of dust when being shuttled back-and-forth from line to line.. Thoroughly impressed special shout out to my guidance Riley and Ian.. they were fantastic. I will definitely take my family back sooner than later.

My wife and I came here to celebrate our second wedding anniversary and let me tell you… this place was the BEST. The views and experience were incredible, and the group we were paired up with were a delight. If I could give both of our guides 6 stars I would. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Justin and Xandra were incredible, hilarious, and made the experience an absolute blast, while communicating enough to make us feel safe the entire experience. Our guides - Justin and Alexa - were extraordinarily fun, helpful, patient and above all else, kept us safe (from ourselves). Skylar and Riley were amazing tour guides! They made our zip-lining experience absolutely unforgettable. They’re super fun, have great personalities, and kept us laughing the entire time with their jokes. The only thing I wish is that they took a few more pictures while we were out on the tour, but overall, it was an incredible experience. You won’t be disappointed! Definitely purchase the X Tour! Loved all the people we met. Would definitely do it again:)

I had a great time. The staff was so wonderful and friendly except for one of the guys who helps bring you in once you land. He offered the woman who went down with me to help take a photo of her. Since he didn't offer me the same treatment. I took it apon myself to take my own photo. Then he looked over at me a raised his voice a bit at me and told me to move behind the red gate! I replied and said "I will after I take my photo in which you did NOT offer to assist me with. He didn't offer the other ladies a photo either. On a side note, I wish they offer videos or photos for the superman zipline tour customers. Overall I had a blast!

This was a great experience. Besides going on an African safari, where else can you see rhinos roaming around, not in cages? It was nice being able to see cheetahs from up above on the boardwalk without a fence in the way. We visited in the latter part of October and the giraffes were put up because of the cooler temperatures. This was our first time here so we booked the Open-Air bus Safari. Next time we’ll probably reserve the off-road Wildside safari to get a little closer to the animals, but many of the animals were right by the road when we were on the open-air bus. It was so much fun!

We stayed two nights in the Grand Yurt. The yurt was perfect. Central AC, mini fridge, and super comfy bed. The provided meals were delicious. The yurts are a short walk to the Overlook Cafe. There is a slight walk down to the Grand Yurt. The concierge service is a nice touch. The Open Air Safari was very educational. Make sure to bring a drink with you. The Wild Side Safari was exceptional. You get up close and personal with a lot of the animals. The Rhinos like to rub against the jeep. Bottled water was provided. The Zip Line was a lot of fun. Again, I suggest you bring water with you. All of the staff were very informative as well as helpful and fun.

The Force is alive in every hoofbeat and roar at The Wilds. We embarked on the Wildside Safari, and it surpassed every expectation. Rather than being confined to paved paths, we rode off-road in a custom truck with padded seats and a canopy — comfort and adventure in harmony. The open-air safari is lovely, but restricted to roads; the Wildside version lets you move closer to the animals, even into hidden corners of their habitat. (Be sure to bring binoculars as backup!) A moment I will never forget: we visited the giraffe barn and hand-fed a giraffe. With chill in the air, they’d been brought inside — an exclusive experience only possible on Wildside. To look eye to eye with that gentle giant and extend your hand is to touch a living Force. Our guide channeled true Jedi wisdom, weaving facts, conservation tales, and ways we can help protect these creatures and their world. After the safari, we browsed the gift shop and dined at the café, gazing out over the vast meadows — a scene so tranquil it could quiet the busiest mind. The Wilds also offers ziplining, horseback riding, and lodging options (yurts, cabins, camping). In fact, when you stay overnight, you may even get a tour‐discount. 📸 Jedi Camera Tips: Wide-angle lens captures sweeping vistas, savanna skies, and dramatic herd scenes. Zoom or telephoto lens (100–500mm or similar) gets you intimate shots of rhinos, giraffes, and especially those up-close barn moments. Don’t forget to shoot in “burst” or continuous mode — animals move with sudden grace.

We had a great time and awesome experience! Our tour guide was amazing, we couldn't have asked for better! (Got lucky there! 🙃) The animals were active, we had a cool brisk morning, everything but the giraffes were out and about. Glad we brought binoculars but still had all the animals close enough we didnt "NEED" them by any means.

Fantastic trip worth the $40. 2 1/2 hours trip through beautiful scenic area with animals coming right up to vehicle. Guide was great. Shared lots of fun and interesting facts about the animals. Recommend going when temps are above 75 degrees so the Giraffes and Camels are still out.

Exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a king sized yurt and did the Wildside tour. Worth every single penny. We got up close to the animals and learned so much new information from Logan, our tour guide. We got to feed a giraffe also! Lois was the best concierge staff for Nomad Ridge and we shared great conversations with other guests around the fire. Dinner and breakfast were included with our stay.

My Fiancée and I stayed at Nomad Ridge, did the open-air safari, and took part in the 10-course zip-line tour. We highly recommend all the tours/experiences we took part in! The open-air safari tours are fun and educational for all ages. The zip-lines are exhilarating and feel like a good length for the cost, just remember to dress warm if it's windy out. Nomad Ridge is a wonderful experience in itself. The yurts are comfortable with all the needed modern amenities while still feeling like a part of nature. We stayed in a "difficult" access yurt and had an amazing view of the land with animals. If you're packing more than a backpack, it may be difficult to get your luggage up and down the gravel pathways to those specific yurts. The dinner & breakfast included were tasty and felt worth the price of the hotel room. The fire pit at night was a cozy and romantic place to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. Overall, well worth the price. We hope to come back in the future!
