Don't miss your chance to enjoy what our mother nature did create Its unbelievable how beautiful some places could be Yes ,it's cold but if you put more clothes you definitely will enjoy that hike with so many lakes and such a fresh air

Just a beautiful experience. This is a place that people can tell you about, like I am, but you will not appreciate the true beauty and vastness of this park until you visit for yourself. Everywhere you look the sights are breathtaking. At times I found myself just staring taking in the view being lost in nature.
S P — Google review
The most beautiful place myself and family have been. Truly wonderful, peaceful, and a majestic testimony to God the creator. Canadian Rockies are so vast! Amazing colors to glacier-fed rivers and lakes. See actual glaciers as they descend from waterfalls to streams to lakes and to rivers.
Brian M — Google review
Visiting Banff National Park is one of the most unforgettable trips that you will ever experience. To start, the 4 hour drive from Calgary will provide you with a road trip and scenery that is jaw-dropping, and that's just the "tip of iceberg" of what you will see once you arrive at the park. I HIGHLY recommend that you do not stay for less than a week because there is SO much to see, visit, walk, canoe, cable car, and drive that you will do yourself a disservice. The countless trails to hike, lakes to visits, animals to see (including grizzly bears), and mountain tops to climb will leave you stunned. The clear forest air, sounds of wildlife, rushing rivers, and waterfalls are things you will not forget. A rental car is an absolute must, with plenty of accommodations to be had, depending on where you want to visit and how much you want to drive. And drive you will do in order to get the full experience. The topography is unlike anything you have seen, as you drive through closed canopy forests, open fields, amazing canyons, and even glaciers. You will see wildflowers of so many varieties and colors that your eyes will dance with excitement. You will wish you had a hammock to tie between trees or a comfortable blanket to lay in the massive fields of tall grass to enjoy a nap that you've probably never experienced or will. Go and do your heart, mind, and soul some good. Please respect the untouched beauty and throw your trash away in designated places.

An absolutely breathtaking park. This whole area of Canada has some of the most stunning landscapes I have ever seen. Getting around is easy, all highways lead to Banff. Make sure you buy a park pass ahead of time. I spent 7 days here and it wasn't enough to experience everything Banff has to offer. There are so many lounges and hotels to stay in, book way in advance since they fill up quickly.
Thomas M — Google review
Stunning landscapes with so much natural beauty. A photographer's dream. One of the most gorgeous places on earth we have visited. The turquoise color of water is unbelievable. Great infrastructure, well maintained highways. Have visited both in Summer and Winter.

My husband and I went to Banff with our toddler 9/18-25/24. It was chilly, and in the mornings, it sometimes got to below freezing. I wore leggings, a t-shirt, and a heavy fleece jacket with a beanie and it was enough to keep me warm! Wear layers so you can peel off as you hike. We wore trail runners and those were adequate for hiking. We stayed in Canmore and drove into Banff, which really wasn’t too far. *NOTE: Get a bus pass to Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. We weren’t able to get the Parks Canada shuttle, so we went with a private company, Fairview Limousine Shuttle. It was CA$25 for Lake Louise and CA$35 for Moraine Lake per person, but if you wanted to do sunrise, it was like 3x the price. We did the shuttle to Moraine Lake at 7:15 am, so we got there just after sunrise, at 7:45. It was so cloudy that day that being there for sunrise wouldn’t have been worth it anyway. Thursday, 9/19 - Peyto Lake (.8 miles total) - Got there at 1:30 pm, there were enough parking spots. Took less than 30 minutes total, including stopping for pics. Stay on the trail! The trees are incredible and smell amazing!! Absolutely stunning views. They have toilets with no running water in the parking lot. - Bow Lake - Walked around a bit, didn’t really hike. We heard there’s a nice hike, which we would’ve done if we hadn’t started so late in the day! - Mistaya Canyon (.7 miles total) - Took 20 minutes, pretty!! Friday, 9/20 - Johnston Canyon to Upper Falls (3.4 miles total) - Got there at 8 am on a rainy and cold day, so there was plenty of parking. By the time we got down at 10:40, parking lot was full. Bathrooms with running water at the start. Because it was rainy and cold, the trail was almost empty. Very pretty! Took us a little over 2 hours, including stopping for lunch. We would’ve loved to do Ink Pots, but the toddler was cranky. - Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park - Got there at noon and it was packed, had to park far away. Stroller-friendly boardwalk. Amazing views. Little cafe and bathrooms without running water. We were there for about 30 minutes, but there are plenty of trails if you choose to hike! - Natural Bridge - Got there at 1 pm, found a parking spot. Bathrooms without running water. Quick stop, very cool. Saturday, 9/21 - Tunnel Mountain Summit from Upper Parking Lot (2.6 miles total) - At 8:45 am, plenty of parking. Very cold—below freezing. Took us 50 minutes to get up with stops and pictures, spent 30 minutes at the top but it was just so cold. Took us less than 30 min to get down. The elevation gain was challenging. - Two Jack Lake - Very pretty viewpoint! Go down the gravel path and look on either side for lovely views. - Lake Minnewanka - Eh, skip it. - Johnson Lake - Plenty of parking at 12:45 pm. Easy hike around the lake. Not worth it. Sunday, 9/22 - Took Fairview Limousine Shuttle to Moraine Lake. - Moraine Lake: Rockpile Trail (.8 km loop): Got to the lake at 7:45 and the shuttle left at 9 which was more than enough time. Quick walk up to take pics, hung out up there to pass the time until the bus came back. - Lake Louise: Lake Agnes Tea House Trail (3.4 km one way): Lake Louise was STUNNING. Completely uphill hike to tea house with stairs at the end. We stopped a lot of times and drank a lot of water. Took 1:15 on the way up. Lake Agnes was fine, but nothing compared to Lake Louise. Spent about an hour at the tea house, the wait really wasn’t that long. Got tea, vegetable soup, biscuits, a cookie bar. Took an hour to get down. Much easier going down, but hard on the knees. Monday, 9/23 - Hoodoos - Fine, pretty short. We followed the sign someone had written on and didn’t go past where the trail ended because there were. no views past it. If you don’t have time, this is fine to skip. - Bow River - We stopped at the Bow Falls Viewpoint for a picnic lunch. It was so peaceful. We didn’t do the trails, but I’m sure it would’ve been lovely. Even just stopping there for lunch was so nice. Highly recommend! Banff was incredible. Don’t pass it up!
Erin S — Google review
Absolutely magical. I was able to spend 4 days here: 1 day visiting the touristy lakes, 2 days hiking, and 1 day cycling. The down sides are the overwhelming number of people that are here and the speed at which people drive on the main road, which I noticed everywhere in Alberta. Neither are the fault of the park so no reason to lower the rating, but it does mean this was probably the only time I’ll visit. I highly recommend Sunshine Meadows for a fantastic hike with less people!

One of the most special, magical and incredible places in the world. The view is just magic. You feel a connection with the place that is hard to explain. The pictures are not great enough to capture the amazing view. About the place: You can explore different trails there to get to know the place. In order to get to the lake you need to take the Oficial shuttle of the park.

My favourite lake in all of Canada, nothing compares to this incredible shade of blue! It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. This place feels truly special and simply being there is a beautiful reminder of how amazing it is to be alive.
Cristina — Google review
⭐ Spectacular! Moraine lake and the ten peaks. So beautiful it is a MUST visit. No regrets! Some said the view on the morning is stunning with the sun shining on the peaks. Am happy to be there in the late afternoon as it is less crowded. Can walk on the beach but lots of pebbles and stones. Will need to book and take a shuttle to Moraine Lake as it is off limits to vehicles unless staying in the lodge.
Bugwagen — Google review
Decided to walk along the road of Morraine Lake today , weather is sunny and not too cold .The view is stunning ,has flowing river and small water fall ,12 KM walk ,it took us 3 hours to the lake and 4 hours back due to issue related to hiking shoes.
Muhfaziah M — Google review
Amazing lake. No parking lot on the area. You should take the shuttle from the Louise Lake or the sky resort. Purchase shuttle tickets in advance.
Luciano R — Google review
Absolutely stunning lake with crystal clear blue waters. Arriving early is going to give you the best views and allow you to enjoy the scenery without the crowds. Can be a little difficult to figure out the Park Canada Shuttle but recommend Moraine Lake first in the morning. The 2 day advance shuttle tickets are a great way for late planners to join the fun.
Victor W — Google review
Beautiful and magical place! You can enjoy a peaceful ambient with fresh air. Unfortunately the kayaking company there charges you a fortune ($160 USD).
John B — Google review
You need to book transportation here in advance. I recommend booking through a third party as tickets with park Canada goes really fast. Despite it being extremely busy it is worth the visit. It’s so beautiful it’s a must stop for sure.

Paint Pots

Points of Interest & Landmarks
In the Kootenays on the way to Radium, there are several natural wonders to explore, including the vibrant Paint Pots. These cold mineral springs have a high iron content that gives the clay a striking orange hue. The colors of the pots can vary depending on weather conditions, displaying green and yellow hues when it's sunny but not too dry.
A fantastic spot for an easy and rewarding hike! The trail to the Paint Pots is well-maintained and gentle, perfect for all skill levels. The vibrant colors of the mineral-rich clay pots are truly stunning and make for great photo opportunities. It’s a peaceful and unique natural wonder that’s definitely worth the visit. Highly recommend for a laid-back outdoor adventure in British Columbia.
Chris — Google review
The Paint Pots are such an amazing and unusual place to visit. The mineral springs turn the water and soil into a vivid orange color, so it feels like the whole area is painted in ochre. It’s really impressive and unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. The trail is not too long and easy to walk, and when you arrive, the view is absolutely worth it. A unique and beautiful spot in Kootenay National Park!
Yuliia P — Google review
The Paint Pots trail is an easy walk through forest and over little bridges to these vibrant orange mineral pools used by Indigenous peoples for ochre. Super interesting geology and history all in one short hike. The colors pop, especially in the sunlight. Trail was a bit muddy in spots when we visited in July 2025, but totally manageable with good shoes. Great for families and anyone looking for something different from the usual waterfall or mountain view.
Saurabh P — Google review
Very neat place for a hike. The paint pots are brightly colored and the hike quite pleasant and not at all strenuous. Glad we stopped.
Gary G — Google review
This is a very easy 900m walk from the parking. There is nothing spectacular here, but it is a nice way to stretch the legs. There is a relatively new boardwalk in place ... I suspect it would gave been a pinch muddy without it.
Al-Karim W — Google review
Honestly more of a 3.5 stars - the trailhead said it was only 1.5km - but there is NO way - it was quite a long hike with a lot of uphill to the painted pots and when we got there, we were like whaa?? Is this it?? Another family there was staring at it also and had the same thoughts. The only reason why I thought it was worth doing was the long windy boardwalk thru the yellow muddy fields - that was gorgeous. My dad didn’t enjoy this hike at all though and said he wished we skipped this one and spent more time at Johnston Canyon instead .. oh well!
Sophia C — Google review
The pots were nice to see, but my favorite was the colorful stream that came from the pots. It was nice to get away from busy Banff and enjoy a little Kootenay National Park.
Shelly R — Google review
Very easy hike and beautiful the whole way up and the path is very well maintained. The Paint Pots at the top are beautiful and just draw you in! Worth the stop.

Transportation
Located in Banff National Park, the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is a large year-round recreational destination with numerous activities, dining options, and shops. Nestled in the Canadian Rockies, it offers stunning views and diverse terrain for skiers of all levels. With 139 ski runs and a lift capacity of over 14,000 skiers per hour, it's a popular spot for skiing and snowboarding events.
Very fun and memorable day. The best place for beginners Very difficult to find parking after 10 am weekends. The ski pass is very pricey, hope we could do it more but pricy. All the beginners/greens are not super easy but very enjoyable, A bit steep some parts but doable As a beginner I first tried and the glacier express lift and then took grizzly gondola, eagle meadows run. It was good run to start
Nasrin I — Google review
Its a beautiful place for sure but very busy and outrageously expensive. There were so many people that it was hard to get a picture without strangers in it.lol But the staff members in the hotel and coffee shop were wonderful. They truly cater to people with class and kindness. Adding 2 stars to my review.
GSR — Google review
The Lake Louise Summer Gondola is a fantastic way to enjoy panoramic views of the Rockies without a strenuous hike. I recommend riding in the open seats during summer to fully experience the fresh air and scenic vistas. While I didn’t spot any wildlife during my ride up or down, the view from the top is still incredible. Once you reach the summit, there’s an easy trail that winds down, offering more amazing perspectives of the mountains and valley below. It’s a relaxing and visually rewarding experience, perfect for photographers and anyone who wants to enjoy the Rockies with minimal effort. Tip for visitors: Try to ride in the open-air seats during summer for the most immersive experience and bring a camera to capture the stunning scenery.
Ian M — Google review
I liked the view when I went to the top but to be honest, this whole gondola thing was very normal. View was great but could be a possibility that I went in July and it looks better when snow is around. There is a photo booth where you can take a picture.
Mohit G — Google review
The Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola is one of Banff National Park’s most versatile and photogenic destinations, offering year-round opportunities for spectacular mountain photography. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the resort provides sweeping views of Lake Louise, the Bow Valley, and the imposing peaks of Mount Temple and the surrounding ranges — all accessible within minutes by gondola. During summer, the Lake Louise Gondola is a photographer’s dream. The 14-minute ride ascends through lush alpine forest to an elevation of over 2,000 meters, where breathtaking panoramic vistas unfold. From the upper station, visitors can capture the iconic turquoise waters of Lake Louise framed by rugged mountains and glaciers. The viewing platforms and short trails near the summit offer ideal vantage points for sunrise and sunset, when golden light touches the peaks and deepens the blues of the lake below. Wildlife photography is another highlight. The area around the gondola is prime grizzly bear habitat, and sightings from the safety of the lift are common in summer. Photographers can also encounter elk, marmots, and golden eagles, making it an exceptional spot for nature and wildlife shots without venturing deep into the backcountry. In winter, the resort transforms into one of Canada’s premier ski destinations. Snow-covered slopes, alpine lodges, and the dramatic backdrop of Mount Temple create postcard-perfect winter scenes. The crisp mountain light, combined with the interplay of snow and shadow, makes for stunning high-contrast photography. A ride on the gondola or chairlift provides aerial views of the skiers below and the vast white wilderness stretching in every direction. Whether blanketed in snow or glowing under summer sun, the Lake Louise Ski Resort & Summer Gondola offers photographers a chance to experience the Rockies from above — capturing the scale, color, and wild beauty that make Banff National Park one of the world’s most photogenic landscapes.
Paul P — Google review
[Summer Gondola] - don’t believe the haters! And don’t go up with expectations to see wildlife. This was an absolute delight, and I’d recommend making time for it - especially if you’re already parking there for your trip up to Lake Louise/Moraine. The whole experience was peaceful, a cool perspective of Lake Louise, and provided beautiful views of surrounding mountains. We kept an eye out for wildlife, but knew we weren’t visiting at a time when they’re expected to be out and about. It’s really just a lovely ride, especially in the open chairlift (vs enclosed gondola).
Emily T — Google review
We take the gondola and lunch bundles ride . On both ways ( up and down ) we seen two deer under our gondola ride . The views from the top are amazing . The mountains and all those glaciers are stunning ! The burgers combo we have ordered are delicious too.

Beautiful views and they have a restaurant at the top (don’t remember the name) where food is delicious!! A bit expensive but totally worth it for the views !! A must do experience

The whole team is amazing Linlin is so organized and made sure our 9 month old daughter stayed on her schedule I would recommend it to anyone!!
Dalia R — Google review
It was our family's first time to visit Lake Louise Ski resort and we had to book our daughter for a day of childcare at the resort's daycare. Booking my daughter was a breeze, Kate and the other ladies were very responsive to my inquiries. When its time to drop my daughter at dc, the lady at the front was very accommodating, let me in and was greeted by Kate. My daughter started crying as it was her first time meeting the ladies but Kate reassured me that my daughter will be fine. My daughter was sleeping when I went to pick her up, the ladies gave me an update on how my girl's day went and even tracked her sleep time. My toddler was happy and even told me that she liked playing with the other babies. I was amazed and impressed at how the ladies took care of my daughter and the kids at daycare in general. They are knowledgeable and well-trained and I would highly recommend this daycare. I can see myself as a repeat customer in the near future. Thank you so much for the awesome service!
Lotis C — Google review
Thank you for this wonderful experience. Our son really enjoyed the 2 days in this daycare and this was his first experience being in a daycare. I definitely recommend this daycare where the stuff is professional and positive. We enjoyed 2 days of ski with our older son, knowing that our toddler is doing just fine in a warm and welcoming environment. We know where to go next year again 👌
Tiana T — Google review
Skied and snowboarded for the day! snow was fabulous-short lift lines. Our daughter had a snowboard coaching session with Cameron from the snow school and she thoroughly enjoyed it-she is an intermediate/advanced snowboarder. Food at Whiskey Jack lodge was excellent-they had 3 different types of buffets available. Everything was fresh and tasty, not your typical skihill track food. Highly recommend A family ski vacation.
Heather C — Google review
BEWARE! The daycare: They overfed my 2 year old son (and the lady in the front desk admitted so) and he had, according to the same lady, a small vomit, to the point they didn’t even change his clothes at all because it didn’t even get dirty. When I picked him up I was informed about the situation, I asked a few questions and talked to the lady and we concluded that it was because he ate too much. She told me that if he had another vomit during the rest of the day/night, I wasn’t going to be allowed to drop my son off the next morning (which totally made sense to me). That night we went to a restaurant and had dinner. We also had breakfast at the hotel the next morning. My son ate a big dinner and breakfast, had plenty of liquid, normal BMs and no fever, very active and ZERO signs of being sick AT ALL. The next morning the lady wasn’t there and I had to talk to a different lady who claimed she was the manager of the childcare and the one “who makes the decisions in there” and she completely refused to take my son that day because “he was sick”. I told her everything that I mentioned here and she gave me an absolute NO, which pissed me off because we were travelling from overseas and we were going to ski for only 2 days in the entire vacation. The previous day we only had time to do 3 runs as the place was COMPLETELY AND RIDICOULOSLY PACKED, TO THE POINT THAT WE SPENT TWO HOURS MAKING THE LINE TO RENT THE SKI EQUIPMENT, after dropping the kids off at the childcare and booking their ski lessons. We started skiing that first day at 12:30pm and we had arrived the place at 9:30am. The like to get on the ski lift was ridiculous as well. We spent money in a hotel and also the ski rental for the second day only to find out that this brainless “manager” was not going to take my son even though HE WASN’T SICK AT ALL, just because she has mental problems and believed that agreeing with me to take him was going to mean that she wasn’t going to be the one “making decisions” in the childcare and also because the lady is a total racist and discriminates little children (2 years old) just because!!!!!!! My niece (3 years old) came back home saying that she didn't like the daycare because they were not nice with her and she was crying when we dropped her off the second day. After she came back, she made the same comments and added that the teacher spilled some soup on her clothes. A minute after we arrived to pick the kids up, they returned her pants to us right after putting them in the dryer (they didn't wash the pants, just put the dirty pants in the dryer). My daugter (also 3 yo) was also unhappy to stay at the daycare the second day. She kept saying that she didn't want to go to that school anymore. As I mentioned, the line to rent the ski gear was TOTALLY RIDICULOUS! It took us TWOOO COMPLETE HOURS to get the equipment. After that, we had to make another line on a different building/register, to buy the ski lift tickets! Ski store had 25 people in line waiting to pay at the register! We didn’t even bother trying to buy water or coffee and even less food during the day because the lines were ridiculous and forget about an empty table to seat with the family. We booked the ski lessons for my little daughter (3 years old) 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, and I couldn’t feel more like I TOTALLY WASTED MY MONEY on that TOO. They didn't pay attention to her and she spent more than 50% of the time literally sitting by herself and waiting for the instructor to come back and talk to her. She only went down the hill ONE time in the 40 minutes I was there watching and the rest of the time ALL BY HERSELF sitting on the snow or standing WITHOUT THE SKIS!!! The WHOLE MOUNTAIN was covered in HARD ICE and wasn't nice to ski like that. DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR: DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY IN LAKE LOUISE AND EVEN LESS IF YOU LEAVE OVERSEAS. Banff National Park, located in western Alberta, is a 2,564-square-mile Rocky Mountain park known for its stunning natural beauty. It was Canada's first national park and remains the most famous and beloved. The park features glacial lakes such as Lake Louise and offers opportunities for breathtaking photography. Visitors can also spot diverse wildlife including bighorn sheep, elk, deer, and possibly moose.

Johnston Canyon, Lower Falls is a famous trail that takes hikers past numerous waterfalls and plunge pools in a rocky canyon. The 1.1km walk to the lower falls features a well-made trail suspended from the canyon walls, allowing visitors to get close to the stream and running water. The area is easily accessible with well-maintained elevated walkways and offers gorgeous waterfall views. Additionally, it's possible to access the hidden cave at Johnston Canyon.
Great walk and scenery. We made it to the upper falls. About 5.4 km round trip. The line for the lower falls was insane and we didn't feel it was worth it. Once we passed the lower falls, the rest of the trail was a lot quieter as I think most people stopped to see the lower falls. The lower falls takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach. I would recommend that you take walking shoes as opposed to open toed shoes for the walk. Gift shop has a counter for tea, coffee and some small meals which is pretty nice. The souvenirs they sell are expensive. During our hike to the upper falls. We got caught in the rain and I had no choice but to buy a $40 t-shirt!!!!

Visit : July 1, 2025 Amazing wooden trail that leads to lower and upper falls. Total distance may be 2.5-3 hours. Lower falls are amazing with breathtaking views. Small cave at the end with excellent positions for excellent photos. If you don’t want more hike up and down then at least you reach the lower falls. Good parking area but if you’re there after 4 PM then for sure you will find a spot in parking lot A or B.

Tucked away in a serene canyon, this trail is a gem for anyone craving a few hours of nature’s embrace. The path meanders alongside the soothing rush of water, creating a tranquil soundtrack for a refreshing hike. Two stunning waterfalls punctuate the journey—one lower, one upper—each a breathtaking reward. The full 5.5 - 6 km loop through the canyon is a delight, though a shorter 2–5 km trek to the lower falls is perfect for a lighter outing. For those willing to push a bit further, the upper falls are an absolute must-see, capping off a scenic and soul-rejuvenating adventure. Highly recommend!

Love this stop from our two day tour bus! We only had time for the lower falls hike but it was so worth it! Well paved, well fenced way to either lower or higher falls. Just the combination of mountains and the water is magical. The cool weather made it easier. It rained and snowed on our second day of the tour but nothing dampened the days as a matter of fact, the weather just gave it a different perspective of beauty!
MC S — Google review
It is cool to be on the hike and lower falls is the first one you would see a queue (that was the long weekend and some people skipped the line and ran all the way when people were waiting for their turn…) It is rather quite an easy hike and it is worth to going in and see However, our experience is don’t stop your hike just at lower falls! Because you shall go further up to the upper falls (no queue) and ink pots (magical and funny cold springs)

We had a wonderful family hike at Johnston Canyon to the Lower Falls! The trail was easy, well-paved, and perfect for kids, which made it stress-free and enjoyable for everyone. The walk along the canyon is beautiful, and the Lower Falls are absolutely worth the short hike. It’s a great family-friendly adventure that I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Banff!
Sudeshna B — Google review
A good hike especially if weather is cool. Takes about 1-2 hours return. Slight elevation. There’s a little cave where you can go in to see the lower falls up closed! There’s a queue on the bridge to get into the cave. Good negative ion with the water fall and river flowing through. (See google map for more info on Johnston Canyon and upper falls)
Bugwagen — Google review
Beautiful hike with amazing views to the lower falls. Prepare to wait in line to go inside the "cave". You can still get a view of the falls outside.

Bow Falls is a wide and short waterfall located near The Fairmont Banff Springs, just before the confluence of the Bow and Spray rivers. The Bow River plunges over sloping limestone ledges, creating a local landmark that offers excellent perspectives of crashing gray-green water. Visitors can take in the view from the Bow Falls Trail, which runs along the river and provides benches for relaxation. Across the river at Surprise Corner, there's an ideal spot for capturing picturesque photos of this natural wonder.
Bow Falls is a beautiful spot and definitely worth a visit if you’re in Banff. It is surrounded by stunning mountain views which creates an amazing setting. It’s a great place for a short walk and to sit and enjoy nature. While it’s not a massive waterfall, the scenery and tranquility make up for it.

Beautiful, cascading falls close to the Banff Springs Hotel. Easy walk from anywhere in town along the Bow River Trail. I highly recommend walking the entire Bow River Trail when you go. It has spectacular scenery of all the surrounding mountains with well done art walk along the way.

It's nice and neat to see the rock under the water and hotel. You can get good photos from either side of the falls. There are better falls though but good to see if your in Banff for the day.

So cool to walk along the art walk on our way to the falls! There were tons of people around but nothing ever felt crowded because there’s so much space. A beautiful place you gotta see!
Jen S — Google review
Great parking space. It got chilly and windy but the falls was so far the widest though shortest I’ve seen. The sound of the falls just couldn’t be beat regardless! Great stop!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bow Falls is an absolute gem that showcases the natural beauty of Banff without requiring a strenuous hike. Located just a short walk from the Banff Springs Hotel, these cascading falls offer stunning views year-round, though they're particularly impressive during spring runoff when the water volume is at its peak. The paved pathway makes it accessible for visitors of all ages and mobility levels, which is wonderful for families. The viewing areas provide excellent photo opportunities, especially with the iconic Banff Springs Hotel creating a dramatic backdrop. The sound of rushing water creates a peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a moment of reflection. While not as towering as some of the region's other waterfalls, Bow Falls has a charm all its own. The wide, multi-tiered cascade creates beautiful patterns in the rock, and the surrounding forest adds to the scenic appeal. It's an ideal spot for a quick nature break if you're staying in town or exploring the Bow River area. The only minor drawback is that it can get quite busy during peak tourist season, so early morning or late afternoon visits tend to be more peaceful. Despite the crowds, it remains a must-see attraction that captures the essence of the Canadian Rockies in an easily accessible setting.

Easy enough walk from & back to Banff Centre. Lovely outdoor art installations by local Bow Valley artists, part of the 'Art in Nature Trail' on display along the trail.

★★★★★ A stunning natural wonder just minutes from downtown Banff! Bow Falls is an absolute gem—an easy-to-access, breathtaking spot that showcases the raw beauty of the Rockies. The powerful cascade of water, set against a backdrop of towering mountains and pine forests, is a sight to behold. You can hear the roar of the falls before you even see them, and once you do, it’s mesmerizing. The walking trails around the falls are scenic and well-maintained, offering great viewpoints for photos and peaceful moments by the river. It’s a perfect stop for all ages—whether you’re looking for a short stroll, a photo op, or a quiet place to soak in nature. Its location so close to Banff townsite makes it super convenient, yet it still feels like a wild, untamed corner of nature. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning again, Bow Falls never fails to impress. A must-see when in Banff!

The Banff Gondola offers a scenic cableway ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain, where visitors can explore viewing decks and hiking trails. Guests have praised the gondola for its safety measures, cleanliness, and organization, with minimal wait times. The breathtaking views and ever-changing weather add to the experience, while the restaurant at the top provides delicious dining options. Some suggest opting for a meal package to enhance cost-effectiveness.
Nice experience! 56$ per adult after 5pm! You can walk for free if you want :) !! Very windy and cold up there so dress well for the occasion. Service was nice. Breathtaking views!! Enjoy!!!

Really great views and really great food if you eat in the Sky Restaurant Buffet. Food was really good as long as you get the food that looks fresh. Gondola ride was super short, only about 8 minutes so I think the price was high. Once at the top though there’s lots to do like shop and read more about the area. On the roof/sky deck there’s also little fire pits and an igloo that’s heated that you go in and warm up. I really loved it here and definitely worth seeing it once.
Beth H — Google review
This is one thing you should definitely experience if you're in Banff. The ride itself is bloody amazing. We were four folks. On a busy day, the queue for the ticket can be long but they have many counters so it moves quickly as well. We hardly had to spend more than 10-15 minutes to get our turn. The gondola is quite expensive but the experience is worth the price. They give you a time slot for the onwards as well as the return journey in Gondola. We had two hours available at the top which is slightly less than required but you still can manage to do a lot upon the top. However, it's also tricky if you want to come down early. That can only happen if there is no queue on the top - otherwise, you wait for your time slot to come back down. On a busy day, that might almost be impossible. The staff was great - very friendly. The guy at the ticket counter was from Ireland and had come here for summer, which is incredible. There's a cafeteria right next to the ticket counter with Starbucks and a few other shops.

We visited in July 2020 and had the most fantastic experience. The beauty and the hospitality were top-notch. I'm luxury hotel trained in customer service, and the crew at this tourist attraction were some of the most kind and hospitable people I've ever met! They really did care about those they interacted with. It was outstanding the experience. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Banff! Highly recommended when in the area!

What an incredible experience!! If your around here, you MUST do this! Even if it's once in a lifetime, it'll be so worth it! Come in the winter months as it's not busy at all, and the cold dry crisp air is super refreshing! There's fire pits to warm up in top of the roof. And the outpost at the end of the trail offers the most amazing view of the Rocky mountains! Complimentary tea/hot chocolate. Stay till its dark and view the stars on a clear night. The gondola ride up is quite fun itself. Coming down at night with the view of Banff is super cool too.
A.Benjamin H — Google review
My husband and I got the package with the dinner. It was our favorite experience in Banff. The views are amazing, impressive and beautiful, they gave us a blanket as it was extraordinary cold that night. Once on top, we got out to the deck to enjoy the views, it was too cold to stay out. Dinner was perfect and food amazing, we sat by the window, the view of the Rockies was just enjoyable and impressive. Service was friendly, professional and after dinner, we went to the deck to get s'mores made in the fire pits installed on the deck. There was also live music and telescopes to look at the stars. We took the last gondola, and one more time going down was a great experience, as the views of the city and mountains were amazing. We absolutely recommend this activity!

A MUST SEE!! fantastic view from the top. Take a full day to enjoy this place, have lunch at the restaurant on the mountain top. Just a gorgeous nature God created. Canada is so blessed to have this. You can not miss this tour! Wonderful place and very easy to get to ... Take the municipal bus on Caribou Street, and in a short time you arrive at the station. Grassi Lakes, located near Canmore, is a popular destination for hikers and rock climbers due to its scenic routes. The Grassi Lake Interpretive trail offers a gradual climb through forested terrain, leading to the stunning aquamarine Grassi Lakes. Along the way, hikers can enjoy excellent views of a waterfall and the town of Canmore. The trailhead is easily accessible by car, with a large parking lot available.
Absolutely beautiful lakes after about ~1h hike, with a stunning blue-green colour and a very serene setting in the middle of the mountains and forests. There are two trail options to reach the lakes, one being very easy and the other more challenging with steeper sections. The views at atmosphere at the lakes make the effort completely worthwhile.

Beautiful, family-friendly hike! I visited Grassi Lakes Interpretive Trail yesterday and it was such a lovely experience. The trail is well marked and not too difficult, making it great for families, casual hikers or anyone looking to enjoy nature without a super strenuous climb. The views along the way are stunning, especially when you reach the crystal clear turquoise lakes at the top. There are two route options. The easier path is perfect if you are with kids or want a steady stroll, while the more challenging route rewards you with waterfalls and extra scenery. Both are worth it. Parking can get busy, so I recommend going earlier in the day if possible. Overall, it is an absolute gem in Canmore and one I would happily do again.

Just outside of Canmore is this neat hidden gem worth hiking to! The path markers are wrong as far as distance so anticipate a little more. The hike to the Lake is all up hill but coming back is all downhill. GPS will take you past it to the wrong spot to Whiteman’s Lake so when you see the sign for the parking lot take it! Port a potty’s have no sinks so bring wipes or sanitizer. This gem is worth the hike, people complain about it being busy but of course. It’s a tourist area and people come here. So don’t let that discourage you! We thoroughly enjoyed this. Took about 2 hours to hike up to it, see it and come back. We did spend a good amount of time there too!

Beautiful lakes and lookout points! The clarity of the water mixed with the stunning blues and greens of the sky’s reflection, mineral silt, and moss are well worth the hike up the trail. The hike was slightly more challenging than we thought it would be, as it does get a bit steep. But the lakes, the waterfalls, and the views are well worth breaking a sweat for.
Isabella S — Google review
A chill hike with stunning views. Personally for me the interpretive trail was easier- gradual incline with a push towards the end on the stairs, but you wont feel it as the views will have you make frequent photo stops. Then make the loop to go down through the other side, which would be a steep incline all the way (and no views) if you choose to go up this way.
D T — Google review
Great views. Lots of trails around the lakes. Walked 9km. Beautiful and clear early morning . Easy route bypasses a lot of scenery but allows all levels of hikers access to the two lakes .

We took the unpaved road to go up to see this pretty lake from top, view was breathtaking but the road was super scary and steep and narrow so veey hard if 2 cars go up the same time, wish we had taken the lower parking to just see it but we wanted to see it from up so took that road, other than that Very pretty lake, beautiful views, you can soak in the nature, breathe in and take nice pictures. The parking lot is decent, there’s washrooms and short walk so definitely must try!

Beautiful location, went around 4pm in the week at the end of August. Had no trouble parking. We went the easy hike up the loop as we were tired from other hikes, then after viewing the lakes we went down the steeper side by the waterfall. Gorgeous views although if it was rainy or soggy out may be slippery on the rocks and scary on the steep side of the trail. I'm a bit scared of heights and likely would have been quite stressed if it was slippery. All in all, not a crazy long hike for some beautiful views, and it wasn't horribly busy when we went which was very nice.

Lake Minnewanka, located just minutes from the town of Banff, is the longest lake in the Canadian Rockies at 28 kilometers. Visitors can enjoy picnics, hiking, and mountain biking along its northern shores. A guided boat cruise offers a unique perspective of the lake's beauty and shares its intriguing history, including the submerged summer village of Minnewanka Landing. The area is also rich in wildlife, with opportunities to spot moose, black bears, and elk.
Lake Minnewanka is so beautiful, with this fantastic water color, and this scenic Rockies view. We are paddle board lovers, so my pictures are most taken during paddling. It has a good parking lot, but you should get there early, because it gets full pretty easy. Next time we go there, we will explore the trails.

Beautiful lake with amazing colorful mountains surrounding the lake. Wildlife are often seen near or around the lake. This is a huge tourist attraction as there is a boat launch where you can take boat rides around the lake. The drive up to Lake Minnewanka is stunning in the fall when all the leaves are in full color. There are trails for walking, rocks for sitting and soaking in the beauty. One of the must visits when in the Banff area.

Spending a day at the lake was a refreshing escape from the rush of daily life. The calm water mirrored the blue sky like glass, creating a picture so serene it almost didn’t feel real. Gentle waves lapped against the wooden dock, and every sound — from birds calling across the water to the rustling trees — blended into a natural symphony that melted away stress. What stood out most was the feeling of balance: moments of silence followed by laughter as families paddled by in canoes or kids skipped stones near the shore. The air felt cleaner, cooler, and full of life. Sitting close to the edge, I could see tiny fish darting through the shallows, while sunlight flickered on the surface like silver sparks. Whether walking along the path, taking photos of the sunset, or simply sitting still, the lake offered something rare — genuine stillness. As the evening came, golden light touched the treetops and the reflection deepened into shades of amber and blue. It was the kind of view that made you pause and breathe differently, aware of how healing simple beauty can be. Overall, my visit to the lake felt like a quiet reset button for the mind and soul. It reminded me that peace doesn’t always require distance — sometimes it’s waiting beside the water, asking only that you stop long enough to notice.

Wow!! Boat ride worth the travel and price! We were there the last weekend (11-13 oct 25) the boat was not pack like summer, it snowed the day before so was a little chilly but fine. Poor girls ( captain and guide) they told us that on the last day, they have to jump in the lake, its a tradition !! We also did one of the trail, amazing view, please bring bear spray and have at least a group of 4 for some trail.. we did not encounter any but with the snow the urgency of finding food become an obsession.. be aware

Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park is a beautiful getaway that’s surprisingly welcoming for dogs — as long as you follow the rules. The trail and day-use areas offer stunning views of the glacial lake framed by rugged mountain ridges, making it a scenic and peaceful experience for both you and your furry friend. One of the best things about visiting with a dog is simply walking along the lakeshore: there are quiet spots to stop, take photos, or enjoy a picnic. The clean, well-maintained trail makes it accessible for a relaxing stroll without feeling too wild. But be careful — during the summer (from July 10 to September 15), dogs are not allowed beyond Stewart Canyon on the Lake Minnewanka Trail. When your dog is permitted, they must be kept on a leash and under physical control at all times. This rule protects wildlife like bears and elk — and it’s enforced by Parks Canada. Also, make sure to pick up and properly dispose of their waste. Be aware that there is a real wildlife risk: bears have been spotted along the trail, and advisories recommend keeping pets close and carrying bear spray if you’re exploring. Overall, Lake Minnewanka is a fantastic spot to bring your dog — provided you stay on leash, respect seasonal trail restrictions, and treat the area responsibly.

Lake Minnewanka is a beautiful and peaceful spot to visit near Banff. The lake is huge, with stunning mountain backdrops and clear blue water that makes for amazing photos. There are boat tours, hiking trails, and plenty of spots to just sit back and enjoy the view. It’s a great place to spend a few hours and soak in the Rockies’ beauty.

Discover the hidden wonders beneath Canmore's stunning mountains with Canmore Cave Tours. This renowned cave guide company has been leading adventurous explorers through the Rats Nest Cave system since 1992. Choose from the Explorer Tour or the more daring Adventure Tour, which includes an exhilarating 18-meter rappel. Regardless of your choice, you'll delve into the natural history of Canmore and witness the untouched beauty of this wild cave system located under Grotto Mountain.
Awesome experience at Canmore Cave Tour. We went with our three teenage children and they are still talking about it. The hike to the top is a moderate hike. I would suggest to dress in layers. It was 23 degrees at 9:30am outside and about 5 degrees in the caves. Our Tour guide was Brent and he was amazing, funny and knowledgeable. He made the 4.5 hours even better. This is not a walk in the park and even though we are a physical fit family, there were some parts in the cave that required good upper body strength and perseverance. This is a unique 55m plunge to another world. Great fun and a good challenge.

The tour was more intense than I expected and I loved it! I've done a cave tour in New Zealand and it was nice, but mostly walking. We did the Adventure tour which had some polished climbing sections , a rappel, and some optional very tight squeezes (The second photo is in the optional Laundry Chute, which was tight but super fun!). This tour was definitely worth the cost and I totally recommend it for someone with at least moderate fitness

Canmore Cave Tours is SO much fun! I brought a group of 7 to do the Adventure Tour. Our guide Annie was so knowledgeable and kept us calm and safe while exploring the caves. I highly recommended doing a tour with them, I gained so much confidence in myself and it was such a good way to bond with my friends (who are all different body shapes & sizes). When we left the cave, my friends and I all said we want to go AGAIN or maybe even take a caving course with them!! Additionally, if you have any hesitations or questions, their admin was super helpful and informative.

Amaaazing adventure 🫶! Loved it! I took the Adventurous Tour — we started around 10:15 am and finished about 4 pm. We met at the office, tried on our overalls and gloves, grabbed our gear, drove a short distance, and then hiked about 30–40 minutes up Grotto Mountain. At the shelter, we had some snacks, got fully geared up, and headed off to the caves. We spent about 3.5 to 4 hours inside, and it’s definitely not for the faint-hearted! We rappelled about 20 meters into the dark, squeezed through the “Laundry Chute,” and explored so many cool spots. It was so peaceful and full of great memories. Since it was shoulder season, there were only five of us — we had the whole cave to ourselves! Our guide, John, was patient and full of amazing stories about wildlife and geology. Wouldn’t change a thing. Highly recommend — thank you!🫶🫶🫶

What an incredible experience this adventure with Canmore cave tours was. My sister, my son and I went on an epic cave tour of the rats nest cave by Canmore. Holy moly!! I can’t say enough good words! Our cave guide Annie was super amazing!! She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and very encouraging! She definitely helped us push our limits today. It was just an all around super day!! Thanks so much!! 20/10 experience. 10 stars, five isn’t enough!!!!

We did the adventure tour with Brent. It was our first time in a cave, and it was the best outdoor (indoor?) experience of my life. Brent was an amazing, highly knowledgeable, and friendly guide. He was attentive to everyone’s safety without ever being overbearing. He motivated us to push our limits and offered encouragement when needed. The cave itself was stunning, and I only wish we could have stayed longer and explored more. I’m deeply grateful for the experience and can’t wait to one day be back in a cave!

Took my 3 boys today. Very fun experience. Our guide John was friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly challenging scrambling at times, with some sections requiring safety rope.

Amazing, awesome, and incredible!! Our group was amazing and our guide Annie was amazing and so friendly! Even when someone in our group dislocated her shoulder (not at all anyone's fault, it's an old injury), Annie was very calm and reassuring and she and John helped her slowly back up and got her out! Anyways very good very fun, we all had an amazing experience!! 10000/10 stars, would do again!!

Bodies of Water
Upper Kananaskis Lake, located in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, is a stunning mountain lake offering various outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy paddling and stand-up paddleboarding on calm days, but should be prepared for windy conditions. The lake is surrounded by scenic hiking trails with sweeping mountain views. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, kayaking at nearby Chester Lake is an option, although it requires a 5km hike to access the water.
It's a very nice circular route, about 17 km. In general, this route is considered average, but I would say that it is easy, the only thing is the distance, but there are no elevation changes, it takes an average of 5 hours to complete it. It is a very popular place for backpacking, camping and hiking.

Soo glad I finally made it to Upper Kananaskis Lake! This place is honestly a hidden gem. The whole lake is surrounded by mountains and pine trees—just pure, peaceful nature everywhere you look. I found my perfect little spot by the water to just sit, breathe, and completely unwind. The air feels so fresh, you can hear the soft sound of the waves, and the views are unreal. Spent hours just exploring the trail, taking photos, and honestly just having fun. It’s one of those spots where you instantly feel calm and happy. Already planning my next visit! If you’re craving a peaceful outdoor escape, Upper Kananaskis Lake is totally the place to be.

It was snowy and foggy when we arrived here but the view is still stunning and breathtaking. The snow peak was hidden and veiled by fog and clouds, like everything slows down. Kids were having fun by the lake and I gained the inner peace here. Totally worth to detour and hang out. We would like to check out next time in summer.

Nestled in the Little Elbow Provincial Recreation Area, Forgetmenot Pond Day Use Area is a serene and popular spot for picnics and outdoor activities. It offers trailheads for hikes like Nihahi Ridge and mountain bike trails such as Little Elbow and Big Elbow. The area provides fire pits, picnic tables, and lush greenery, making it an ideal location for a relaxing picnic or wiener roast.
We visited Forgetmenot Pond on a rainy day, but still absolutely loved it! The views are breathtaking, even in cloudy weather. There are picnic areas where you can enjoy quality time with friends or family by the lake, surrounded by beautiful nature.

Beautiful spot to visit! 🌲✨ A few things to keep in mind: • You’ll need to buy a Kananaskis Conservation Pass in advance ($15). • No mobile signal in the area, so be prepared. • Very accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. • Multiple parking areas available—if one is full, just drive a bit further. • Great picnic areas and even BBQ spots. The place is so quiet, peaceful, and perfect for a family day out. Highly recommend!
Mr. S — Google review
Excellent spot to enjoy a nice day out with family or friends. There are plenty of picnic spots spread out around the entire pond and most have bbq/fire pits. The path around the pond is well maintained and it’s a nice, easy walk. There are also benches along the water to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery. It does get busy so get there early to secure the perfect spot! There is plenty of parking, and some restrooms. It is at the end of the paved portion of the road and keep in mind that the road is closed in winter. A Kananaskis pass is required in this area.

Forget-Me-Not Pond is a hidden gem! The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful—perfect for a relaxing nature escape. Whether you're into paddle boarding, hiking, or just soaking in the stunning views, this spot has something for everyone. It’s an ideal place to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy the calm beauty of the outdoors. Highly recommended for a day trip or quiet getaway!
Jescel R — Google review
Excellent spot for a paddle, kayaking, or a simple picnic. There are bathrooms (not flushable though) and the pond is very close to the parking area. It can get pretty busy, though. If you like solitude, this isn't the best place for it.
Norah — Google review
Every time we want to spend a fun afternoon with family and friends, we come here. The size of the pond is perfect for kids and adults to go in on a boat or even take a swim, while you can picnic or bbq your favourite meals. Parking is very limited so make sure you arrive really early in the morning since this place is very popular.
Juan B — Google review
Very scenic picnic place for friends and families. Be early to get a good spot. Purchase a provincial park pass for the vehicle before going to this area as there is no cell phone reception around this area.
Pramodya A — Google review
Please buy Kananaskis Pass to avoid any potential tickets or trouble. $15 for 1 day. So expensive but it's per vehicle. There is no wait time at this beautiful park but expect tons of people taking up benches and picnic tables. If you want to guarantee a spot of your choice on the weekend arrive by 9am. Tons of people and kids on the water, paddle boarding and playing. Pet friendly and absolutely BBQ and family friendly. Canopy is a good idea for the sun and bug spray good idea for the mosquitoes. I also recommend sunscreen when it's super sunny and hot. The water at forget me not pond is ice cold. It barely ever warms up and takes a while to get used too. Bathrooms are regular outhouses and stink but not much to expect here. Limited parking is an issue. It is absolutely first come first served. People park where it says no parking and do anything it takes because parking does run out. This location has no service and really no service within 10-15km based on our drive. Make sure your family/party knows what they are doing and where they are going. Small wagens or dollies are good for transporting coolers and gear because your spot may be a 5min walk away. You are allowed to drink at designed tables and fires are fair game. Check for fire bans in case. Clean up your garbage to keep this park as clean as possible. Always a great time having parties and events at forget me not pond. A must see!

We had a very nice drive through the foothills with a kaleidoscope of coulours at the start of fall. We did a half day hike with the family, including our 3 year old granddaughter. Lots of stops to take in the beauty and a dip in the coooooool Elbow River to cool off. A fantastic place to spend time with family

Great picnic spot. Day use only. Each site has a fire pit with a grill and a picnic table and the sites are large enough to accommodate big family gatherings. The site are very close to the river, some of them right alongside it. There is not a lot of space between sites but they are decently private and the rushing river blocks the sound. Some sites are a bit farther from the rest. This is along the elbow river trail so you can make a nice day of exploring the trails

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, located just minutes from Cochrane, offers over 30 kilometers of trails that wind through protected grasslands, forests, and hills. Visitors can explore remnants of both industrial and indigenous history while enjoying views of the foothills and mountains. The park also offers guided golf cart tours providing insight into the area's rich history and stunning natural beauty. Additionally, the park hosts informative presentations on topics such as cattle management and local wildlife.
The park is huge and stunning with breathtaking views and a variety of hiking and biking trails. The trails are east with little elevation. There is a beautiful river down the valley A perfect getaway spot not too far from Calgary. Some areas of the park may be used as a pasture for cows so the access to those areas might be limited. Sometimes it is possible to see horses and they come close to you (fenced area). Keep an eye out for deer as well! Plenty of parking even on weekends. A fantastic destination not too far from Calgary makes it a perfect getaway spot for outdoor enthusiasts.

I bought my gal pal and I the 2 hour golf cart tour of this amazing park. Best money I have ever spent on an excursion! Nick gave us a friendly greeting and even found us a bench in the shade until the tour started. Lauren was our driver & tour guide. She was delightful, knowledgeable and so friendly! My gf and I had the best time seeing all the gorgeous scenery, beautiful wild flowers/bushes, and most of all, hearing the gripping history of the owners and workers of this majestic piece of land. Good job to the Alberta government for purchasing it and letting us all enjoy the wonderful splendor!

It is a beautiful place to spend a day walking, cycling or even be with your family away from the city. Calaway Park is a seasonal amusement park located in Western Canada, offering over 30 rides, stage shows, a 3D theatre, and midway games. It has been providing affordable and family-friendly entertainment for more than thirty years. The park's one-pay gate system allows unlimited access to rides, attractions, live shows, and street performers like stilt walkers and jugglers.
Calaway Park is a fantastic family destination! I've visited multiple times with my wife and our kids (ages 6 and 3), and each trip has been a joy. While some rides are age-specific and not suitable for younger children, there's still plenty to enjoy. The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are friendly, and the park offers a wholesome experience for all ages. From gentle rides to engaging shows and play areas, our kids were entertained throughout. It's a great spot for creating lasting family memories. We will definitely be back!

Great amusement park for kids and parents/families, and lots of stuff for teens too. So many rides toddlers can go on if they are tall enough. Even when the parking is packed it is not too big of a wait for a lot of the smaller rides. The water rides are a long wait and close an hour before closing time. Lots of bathrooms around. Lots of food options. Shaved ice and pineapple dole whip is vegan. Cool Halloween vibes when summer season is over. Decorated all throughout the park.
Marta B — Google review
Coming into the parking lot, everyone was parking to the left as it looks like they are building something on the right. They have lots of people waving you in telling you where to park. They have many booths to pay for your tickets as you go in. I do recommend buying your ticket online before going in. When you went to the park you can go to the left or to the right. I recommend going to the roller coaster first. The lineups can get quite long. The roller coaster and the log ride usually get the longest lines. The staff is very friendly and the park is very clean. I do find the water is expensive there so bring your own water to drink. They do have an area with lots of picnic tables for you to have a lunch. I have a 2 year old and he could go on about nine rides. When my daughter was 9 she could go on every single ride. Overall I do like this park. I do believe it is time to add some new rides. We went September 14th and they had Halloween days starting. They had parades and they had people dressed up everywhere.
Stephanie M — Google review
The park is great, especially for kids and probably some teenagers up to around 14 years old. There are lots of fun rides for children, bright swings, and a Parade of Fairy-Tale Characters (they were handing out delicious candies). We also bought some food — the fries were very tasty. There are small lines for the restrooms. We’ll definitely visit this place again!

I visited Calaway Park and had a fantastic time! The park was spotless, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was full of energy. It’s clearly a perfect spot for families—so many smiling kids and parents enjoying the day. Whether you’re with a group or on your own, it’s a fun, well-run park that’s worth the visit!

IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY, THIS IS IT! Amazing experience! They have rides for kids rides for adults, add rides for really small kids as well! There are lineups and that long. The most We ever waited was about half an hour. It is $52 to get in the dollars to get in the door if you are 13 to 65 years of age.
Christine G — Google review
Great value. Lots of rides and activities for my 5 and 7 year old kids. Did not have to wait more than 5-10 minutes for the rides. We would come back for sure. We liked the magic show.

Fun lil park. Definitely for kids - we had fun for maybe 2 hours and that’s all there is to do as an adult. It’s closer to Calgary - the only perk. There were some rides that charge you additional $2-$5 on top of the entry ticket. Haunted house was a joke. Extremely long queues. Overpriced snacks and drinks. Meh! If you want to visit on a weekend, plan ahead cos parking is going to take you a long time.

Eau Claire Distillery is Alberta's first craft distillery, located next to the Chuckwagon Cafe. They use locally sourced grains and water from the Rockies to create their award-winning spirits like Parlour Gin and EquineOx. The tasting room offers a classy experience with tap beer and unique cocktails. Customers praise the attentive service provided by staff members like Alantra, Sarah, and Ciara.
We had the best time here. We are from Winnipeg and always like to go to different distilleries on vacation. This one didn’t disappoint. They offered us many different tastes of their products and the food and mixed drinks are awesome. Angie I think is the manager and gave us such good service even though the tour was closed as a stat holiday. We enjoyed her educating us on the whiskies and if we can would love to host a party there one day.

I had them add fresh jalapenos and spicy chipotle to my fried chicken sandwich this time and I don't think it could have been better. The others in my party purchased several spirits from the distillery and we chatted about what a great experience it was again. I also had the Fahr zero beer and found it delicious.

And the food ... oh my goodness, the food ... BEYOND AMAZING!!! I will return ... frequently!!! Thank you for the best lunch experience!!!

The Eau Claire Distillery was such an incredible place to have our wedding! Jen and Mallory went above and beyond to make our wedding go off without a hitch. Jen managed the entire event: set up, schedule, flow, bartending, electronics and take down. I cannot recommend the staff enough, everyone was professional and friendly. We were lucky to have London create personalized cocktails for our wedding. He made it very difficult to choose a cocktail, as all of them were delicious. The venue is incredibly unique and offers so many different elements. From the private speakeasy, to the beautiful covered patio, the distillery and the whisky room. These all made for amazing photo opportunities. I cannot recommend this venue enough. I’m still dreaming of our magical wedding here!

My daughter and I visited the Distillery on Tuesday, September 9th around 1:15 PM, hoping to enjoy lunch on the covered patio. We placed our order and waited… and waited. After about 45 minutes, I approached the cook, who informed me that our order had been missed entirely. I was shocked — there were only two other couples on the patio: one had already finished eating, and the other was only having drinks. Frustrated and hungry, we decided to leave. I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of service and do not plan to return. This experience was unacceptable.

Family of mine live in Turner Valley & they alway rant & rave about this distillery. Since we were visiting, and they only live 1 block away, I decided to walk over. The Christmas Gin is what made me check out Eau Claire & right off the hop I was impressed. Everything about it is appealing to the eye. I would like to return in the spring/summer, when seating outside would be possible but there were happy patrons seated inside. I picked up too many & was sent back the next day to grab more for friends & family who heard about my experience. We dealt with a very lovely lady who gave us a tasting & although I didn’t get a big bottle, I did enjoy it! Definitely a HUGE selection from bottles to merch. I really loved their story & how they go about making their liquors as well as reading about all their copious awards!!!

Heritage Park, located in Calgary, is a captivating destination that showcases the rich tapestry of Western Canadian history. Spanning over 127 acres, this living heritage museum features the Heritage Park Historical Village, Gasoline Alley Museum, and Heritage Town Square. Visitors can immerse themselves in both indoor and outdoor experiences throughout the warmer months from May to Thanksgiving. The park comes alive with seasonal re-creations featuring actors who bring history to life through engaging performances.
A few months back our family had a wonderfully relaxing day at Heritage Park! It was the perfect spot to slow down, take in some history, and just enjoy being together. My 9-year-old son loved exploring the old-fashioned buildings, riding the vintage train, and seeing how people lived in the past. One of the highlights was the paddlewheel boat ride on the Glenmore Reservoir. It was such a peaceful experience, giving us beautiful views and a chance to just sit back and enjoy the moment. The staff throughout the park were friendly and knowledgeable, making history come to life in such a fun way. We also spent some time at the antique midway, where my son had a blast with the old-school rides. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the bakery for some delicious homemade treats! Heritage Park is a great place for families looking for a mix of education and relaxation. It was a perfect day—no rushing, just enjoying the sights, sounds, and experiences of the past. We’ll definitely be coming back!

A fun, festive, and educational experience for everyone. The Park has an assortment of activities, rides, food, civic museums, and heritage architecture emphasizing the cultural significance of early Prairie settlement/life. It's like taking a step back in time, and it's worth every dollar. 11/10 do recommend.

Heritage Park in Calgary is a fantastic destination for a family outing. The park stands out for its welcoming policy on food and drinks, allowing visitors to bring their own and enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere—a rare perk that saves a lot on expenses compared to other parks where you can easily spend over $100 just on meals. Though tickets are on the pricier side at $36 for adults and $26 for kids, the experience is worth every penny. The park is meticulously managed, from parking to rides and everything in between. It’s incredibly clean, with free water fountains and spotless washrooms, ensuring a comfortable visit. Highly recommended for a day of fun and relaxation!

Really enjoyed coming here. It's like Disneyland, but better, because you can actually learn something about actual frontier life and how Alberta came about as opposed to some fantasized version of how things were. Plus, the Vaudevillian performances were really entertaining. There was something that happened, I don't want to go into the details, but I want to take a chance to thank the staff for handling the incident professionally and being very kind to me and my party.

An absolutely wonderful place! The ticket price is well worth it, as it covers more than just a visit to a village—it's an immersive experience. During your visit, you'll watch over five short theater performances, each lasting at least 30 minutes, depicting the rich history of the area. The actors and actresses are incredibly talented, making the stories come to life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt that one day isn't enough to fully appreciate everything this place has to offer. The staff members are all kind and helpful, providing excellent explanations about the site, especially the lady in the mine. You can begin your journey from the parking lot by taking a charming streetcar ride.Unfortunately, the gift shops didn’t have any magnets from this village, which was a bit disappointing.

This is such a wonderful place to visit. Everyone here always makes sure that you are having a good time. Everyone is in costume and stays true to the character they are portraying. There is a steam engine train you can ride as well at the steam ship that goes out along the reservoir. There are tractor rides and horse-drawn wagon rides, all of which are free with admission. There are midway rides for people of all ages. The general store and ice cream shop sell delicious treats, and the bakery is always making fresh baked items for sale. Every exhibit is authentic and has a plaque to describe its original location. There is so much to do that you can easily spend a full day here and not see everything there is to see.

I really enjoyed this place. Wow! If you have children, they will enjoy it as well. I recommend going on the steam locomotive at Shepard Station or riding the S.S. Moyie first (in the same area) then do the other after. After experiencing these attractions, wander the property. Cool off with a local brew at the Wainwright Hotel & Bar Room.

Truly amazing experience! All employees were very friendly and welcoming. So much things to do and have fun. We were visiting Calgary for the first time and Heritage Park was the best part of the trip. My son had a blast riding a real steam train. All the family had great time.

Okotoks Erratic, located in the town of Okotoks, is a massive glacial boulder that weighs around 16,500 tonnes and stands at 9 meters tall. It is believed to have been left by glacial activity thousands of years ago and is considered a remarkable sight and an iconic landmark of Okotoks. The rock landed in its current location during a rockslide between 10,000 to 30,000 years ago.
one of the historic place in Alberta. very clear view. Best time of visit is summer when all lush green around. Facilities at the site include a paved parking lot, washrooms, and wheelchair-accessible ramps, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities. The site is open year-round, offering a peaceful retreat with expansive views of the surrounding prairie and mountains
Abdul Q — Google review
The Okotoks Erratic, also known as the "Big Rock," is an incredible natural landmark and definitely worth a stop. It's amazing to see such a massive boulder in the middle of the prairie and learn about its glacial history. The site is open 24/7, so it's easy to visit anytime, and there's plenty of parking nearby. There are walking paths around the rock with informational signs that explain its geological and cultural significance. It's also a popular spot for photos, short hikes, and even just a peaceful break when driving through the area. There aren't many amenities on-site, so bring water and snacks if you plan to stay a while. Overall, it's a fascinating and unique stop for anyone interested in nature, geology, or Alberta history.

We went to the Buffalo Jump Head Smashed in the other day and were blessed to hear the Napi story about the rock from a Blackfoot guide. We came to the rock just to admire it and weren’t disappointed. Such a great piece of history and nature.

Beautiful to see and history behind it accessible to all. Very annoying to see lots of people climbing the barriers and climbing the rocks and disrespecting the land despite clear signage to not climb. Do not climb and do not leave a trace please do not litter. Beautiful landscapes, and great to see if you’re in Okotoks.
S L — Google review
As the name suggests a big rock in the middle of the grassland. It was Intersting to read the information boards about about how the rock got here from Jasper. Good place just to relax and unwind. There are many parkings and a gravel road leading up to the rock. The only big negative was the state of the public toilet. It was gross and smelled badly. I am not sure if it is always like this.
Punit K — Google review
Not bad if you are in the area or interested in geology. The whole area is quite scenic and rocks jutting out are definitely interesting.

Prince's Island Park, located in the heart of Calgary, is a former sawmill site transformed into an urban oasis. It offers picnic areas, winding trails, and regular major events. The park features historical landmarks like the Deane House and River Cafe, as well as sculptures and art pieces. Visitors can enjoy recreational activities such as canoeing in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.
It's such a beautiful park. Flower arrangements were very creative. The trees are great. Kids' play structure is newer and a lot of fun. The new black squirrels were neat to see for the first time. Only down side was the men's washroom. Two of the toilets were completely disgusting. The place needs an upgrade badly.

Came here for Folk Fest and it did not disappoint! It is an amazing venue to hold such a popular festival. There are multiple stages with remarkably good sound systems and plenty of natural grass to sit on. The breeze from the river sure is welcome under the hot sun 🌞 There is a great big children's playground here that is quite popular. The benches around it are perfect for parents to sit at while letting their kids burn off their energy. In the Spring there are plenty of Canada geese that nest 🪺 and prepare their goslings for life outside the nest. With all of the natural beauty it is a great escape from the urban jungle just across the bridge.

Super nice quiet park in the heart of downtown. Lots of space, large trees, benches, flower gardens. With the river on both sides it really is a quiet area. Everyone at the park is doing the same thing - just enjoying. Can be super busy on summer weekends or holidays. So bicycling can be a slow process because of the crowds!
Jon C — Google review
Excellent park with broad walkway, washrooms, great view of river and downtown, must visit this park if you are at peace bridge. You can even rent a neuron e bike/scooter to stroll around. Great place to spend a nice evening. Lots of picnic spots were available both shaded and unshaded. Public washrooms were at the River Cafe there is even a playground with lots of kids activity for kids to have fun. Highly recommended park in the heart of Calgary. Parking is mostly on streets on either side of the river. Check out the videos & imaged & follow for more detailed reviews.

Nice park, not far from downtown Calgary if you're on foot. It was cold and windy when we went there, but the parked seemed nice nonetheless. We saw many squirrels and there are beautiful flowers everywhere. Also a good spot to take some pictures of Bow River, but in a sunny day it must be much nicer.
André M — Google review
I parked at the Crescent Heights scenic point and walked into the Prince’s Island Park via the connecting stairs. Pro: I did not need to worry about parking and could instead focus on how BEAUTIFUL the park was and how joyful the people were. Con: I had to walk up a gazillion stairs to get back to my car. Depending on your enthusiasm for cardio, this con can become your pro as I saw a bunch of people exercising by running up and down the stairs. I cannot relate. This may be an ignorant American viewpoint, but are Canadians just that much happier and healthier?? I went on a 2-mile (sorry I don’t know what that is in kilometers) walk around the park and not only did I see beautiful views, I also interacted with lovely people. There were many recreational enjoyers of the park and they took the time to look me in the eyes and smiled at me?? The camaraderie was off the charts. With that said, I feel for the homeowners who live right next to the park because they have to deal with very loud car pollution from the road (side facing Crescent Heights). While walking back to my car, I did have the thought that I should’ve brought my noise canceling headphones because it was so loud that I could not think. If the city of Calgary can invest in safer streets by converting that arterial road into bike and pedestrian paths instead, that would make the park experience that much better. It is my wishful thinking, and I think it could work since driving on that road didn’t seem all that stress-free either. It was clogged up with anxious drivers waiting to get the heck out of there, and it was where I heard the first loud horn during my stay in Canada.
Huong D — Google review
Nice place to take a stroll. It is nice to see the park under every different seasons. You will appreciate to sit on a bench and read a nice book while enjoying the scenery. There is a cafe situated in the park if you want to enjoy a hot beverage. Squirrels and ducks will be your companion in your journey.

I visited this park during July end. The park is very beautiful and clean. The neighborhood is lovely. The park is on the banks of Bow River. Water is dark blue and looks very scenic. However, parking was limited. We went to the peace bridge, and even though it was under construction, the bridge looked beautiful.

Let's be clear, this isn't Disney land but it is a nice 20min walk in a quiet setting with interesting plants and trees to look at. Be patient finding the parking lot, the signage isn't that clear but if you turn right in front the main gate to the garden you'll hit the lot.

Observation Decks & Towers
The Calgary Tower is a towering landmark offering breathtaking panoramic views from its glass-floored observation deck and revolving restaurant. Situated in the heart of downtown Calgary, it provides stunning vistas of the city's rivers, parks, and surrounding areas. The observation deck offers a 360-degree view of the bustling city, the majestic Rocky Mountains, foothills, and prairies. It's an ideal spot for a romantic evening or to pop the question with its spectacular views and vibrant atmosphere.
Visited the Calgary Tower Observatory while downtown, and the views from the top are fantastic — you can see the entire city and the mountains. The elevator ride is smooth and fast, and there’s plenty of space on the observation deck to walk around and take photos. The glass floor section is a fun addition if you’re feeling adventurous. The staff were friendly and helpful, though I do think tickets could be a bit cheaper for the experience. Overall, still a must-visit spot for anyone wanting a great perspective of Calgary.
Ian M — Google review
The Calgary Tower is a great way to get a full view of the city. The observation deck gives you a 360° look at Calgary and the Rocky Mountains on a clear day. The glass floor is a fun experience and makes for some great photos. The staff are friendly, and the elevator ride to the top is smooth and quick. The visit itself doesn’t take too long unless you plan to eat at the restaurant, but it’s still worth it for the views and the unique perspective of the city. Tickets are a little expensive for the short time you spend there, but it’s one of Calgary’s most iconic landmarks and a nice stop if you’re exploring downtown.
Fayaz K — Google review
Wow stunning views. And going at sunset is highly recommended! The mountains are a perfect with the sun setting behind them! Food was fantastic! It's so beautiful to see the lights of the city light up below! We went after a long day of travelling and sightseeing so we were casually dressed, but you can dress up super fancy too! It was great!
Denika D — Google review
My visit to the Calgary Tower during a day trip to Calgary was a memorable highlight, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the city that truly showcased its charm. On a cloudless, sunny day, the conditions were ideal, revealing the distant Rocky Mountains and the urban expanse in stunning clarity. The observation deck, enriched with informative displays identifying key buildings, added an educational layer to the experience, making it both engaging and insightful. The ambiance was pleasant, and the tower stands as a notable tourist attraction in downtown Calgary, with a unique glass floor section that, while smaller than anticipated, provided a thrilling perspective. However, the experience was tempered by certain drawbacks. The tower, while iconic, shows signs of aging and is dwarfed by newer, taller skyscrapers, which slightly diminishes its grandeur The cost—approximately $75 for two, including parking and admission—a bit too steep. The viewing deck offers a decent panorama, but the surrounding skyline is less striking than expected. Overall, the Calgary Tower is well worth a visit for its unparalleled views and historical significance, particularly for first-time visitors to Calgary. Its combination of scenic beauty, informative displays, and cozy ambiance makes it a rewarding stop, best enjoyed on a clear day.
Jeremie M — Google review
Visiting Calgary Tower is a must for anyone coming to Calgary! The ride to the top is an amazing experience — the panoramic view of the city and the mountains on the horizon is truly breathtaking. Standing on the glass floor is especially thrilling — it takes your breath away, but it’s absolutely worth it! The staff are friendly and welcoming, and everything is well organized and efficient. The restaurant at the top has a great atmosphere and a view you just can’t look away from. A fantastic place to feel the scale of Calgary and take stunning photos. Highly recommended!
Дмитрий — Google review
The Calgary Tower turned out to be an excellent stop on our trip. Admission is roughly half the price of Toronto’s CN Tower, and since the Calgary Tower is about half the height, it feels like a perfect trade-off—great value without compromising the experience. We timed our visit for around sunset and it couldn’t have been better. The views of downtown Calgary, the Bow River, and the Rockies glowing in the evening light were absolutely stunning. From the glass floor to the 360-degree panorama, every angle offered something memorable. Overall, the Calgary Tower provides amazing scenery and a fair price point that makes it easy to recommend. If you can, plan your visit for sunset—you’ll catch the city at its most beautiful.
Kenneth G — Google review
It was definitely worth going once! You get to see the city from a view point that’s quite amazing. However it is super important to figure out what time you should go there. I wouldn’t go again though because I do not think the ticket prices are worth multiple visits.
Viraj M — Google review
We didn't buy the ticket to the top but we had a dinner in 360 sky restaurant at the top of the tower. The foods were out of the world and the price was right for a sky tower restaurant. We spent $200 incl tips there, while we spent $500 in Look up tower restaurant in Vancouver, ever the foods here much better than Vancouver. We don't have to wear fancy dress here, casual is okay.

The Calgary Stampede is a renowned annual rodeo festival that takes place in a festival space hosting various shows, live music, entertainment, exhibits, and food stalls. This non-profit organization also offers year-round events like exhibitions, galas, concerts, conferences and rodeos. The festival aims to preserve western heritage and culture while engaging the community through youth initiatives and programs.
It is an amazing 10-day event that takes place every year in July!! It contains fair food, rides, exhibitions, concessions, and so much more! The preferred mode of transport to get to this event would be the c-train as it is much easier to get to and from the grounds to. Parking is available around the grounds. However, it is usually very full/busy and expensive as well. Although it is a super busy venue to attend, there is always something for everyone to do. The kids love the fair games, winning prizes and riding the endless selection of rides. I have attended since I was a child with my family, and it is something I look forward to every year. A "Calgarian tradition" for sure. A great place to spend a day or a few, there's a vast availability of fair foods such as corn dogs, corn, ice cream, fries, lemonade, and so much more!
Rose — Google review
It could have been just the time of your but it was really difficult to get to this event. Many of the streets were closed. We could not get an Uber anywhere. Could not get taxis. The facility itself was decent inside with a good selection of food. The seeding in the stands a bit tight in places didn't appear. It was built with adults with semi-limited ability to get in and out of the area.

Stampede is awesome! Coming for 2 years now and loving it. Such amazing human energy, concerts, and multitude of things to do. Cows, tanks, food, drinks, music, cowboy hats, gotta love it.
Vasily R — Google review
The main advice for everyone coming next year: make sure to grab an event map at the entrance. There are many free activities besides the Rodeo, but you won’t find them easily if you don’t know where and when they take place. The Stampede is always crowded, but it’s not only about the Rodeo and food.
Маrina D — Google review
If you haven't been to the Calgary Stampede, you need to go, at least once. Billed as The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth you'll want to take in the music (Country of course), food, drinks, rodeo, midway rides, and don't miss the Grandstand Show. No expense spared for the best fireworks display I've seen to end the show. Food wagon options include what you may expect at a fair. Some creative combo's along with the expected, such as a smoked Turkey Leg. (a bit pricey at 33.00). Be prepared for line ups and crowds. Advance purchase of admission tickets eliminates at least 1 line. You'll have a great time if you take in some of this 10 day event, and don't forget your Cowboy hat!
Rudy E — Google review
Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth..actually. The rides were so much fun and the showcases in the BMO Centre were awesome. The food stands around the Stampede were amazing but were highly expensive. Getting here was so bad via CTrain, it is so crowded that they couldn’t let people in because it was packed. It was also crowded in Stampede Park of course due to the tourist influx and because it was first day. It was so much fun exploring every inch of the park, one must go to the stampede at least once every time. Would I go back? Definitely. 8/10.

The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo, established in 1929, is a renowned zoo and park located on a 125-acre facility. It houses over 4,000 animals from more than 100 species and is celebrated for its exceptional animal care and habitat design. With an annual influx of over 1.3 million visitors, the institute aims to educate and inspire guests about wildlife conservation.
Had a wonderful time at the Calgary Zoo! The layout is great, lots of animals to see, and the whole place is really well maintained. It was a super hot day when we visited, so I totally understand that the polar bear was probably chilling indoors with the A/C — though I was a little bummed to miss seeing it. That aside, it was still a fantastic experience — from the playful lemurs to the majestic tigers, there was so much to enjoy. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Calgary, and maybe I’ll catch the polar bear next time when it’s not sunbathing weather!

Had an amazing time at the zoo! The staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated how clean and well-maintained everything was. There were also plenty of places to take a break, grab a snack, and just enjoy the surroundings. Washroom available in every area. The staff and volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions or share insights about the animals. The exhibits are engaging and informative, making it a great experience for kids and adults alike. I would highly recommend for any age.

Great way to spend your day. Lots of parking fast lines, lots of animals. Most were pretty sleepy while we were there, except the wolves who were prancing around and coming right up to the glass. Tickets are cheaper if bought in advance. I took way too many photos and had a lovely day.

I love visiting the Zoo with my kids. We have coming for over 20 years now. I started coming when I moved to Calgary over twenty years ago. I have enjoyed seeing all the animals. 20 years ago I loved seeing the kangoos and the elephants. When they had bats I didn't like the bats but that is my own phobia of bats I had since I was a child. I remember seeing the sloth back then and one of favorite animals The Kolas. We love ❤️ seeing the Pink Flamingos 💗 and is one of the first ones we go see now. We love the pandas. My son loves the komodoo dragons they are his favorite. We love the Zoo Christmas Lights. We love seeing the red pandas and Tigers and the various animals and birds and the butterfly exhibits when we go visit the zoo. We always enjoy seeing the animals ❤️. In my son's words it's a really cool experience.
Joanne L — Google review
The Calgary Zoo is one of the best family attractions we’ve visited! It’s well laid out, making it easy to explore different zones — from the African Savannah with giraffes and lions, to the Canadian Wilds where we saw bears and cougars up close. The Penguin Plunge was a highlight — the kids loved watching them swim and waddle right by the glass. Highlight was the Polar bear! What really makes the zoo special is how educational it is. Each section has interactive displays, conservation stories, and plenty of opportunities for kids (and adults!) to learn about wildlife and habitats. The grounds are beautifully kept, with shaded areas, rest stops, and a variety of food options, making it very family-friendly. We spent almost a whole day and still felt like there was more to see. It’s not just a zoo — it’s a mix of fun, learning, and adventure. A must-visit when in Calgary!
Manju D — Google review
Amazing place for a family day out! We visited with kids and everyone had a great time. The grounds are very clean and well maintained, with lots of shade and beautifully designed animal enclosures. We were especially impressed by the penguins, tigers, and the dinosaur park — so realistic! My little one loved the kids’ zoo where you can feed the goats. Staff were friendly, and the café had a nice variety of food. A perfect spot to spend the whole day with family. We’ll definitely be back!
Yuliia K — Google review
The Zoo is always a great place to visit. However it is a seasonal place, even though they are open year round. We saw lots of animals, but Prehistoric Park was closed along with every food vendor and refreshment stand except for Kitamba Cafe which is an indoor restaurant. I understand this, but my suggestion would be to maybe open certain areas up, weather permitting, so that on the nicer days people still have an opportunity to experience as much as possible. Other than that, it was a great time.
Mikey D — Google review
Lots of construction throughout areas of the park. The only food location opened was by the gift shop, when exiting the zoo; every other food location was closed. Tickets should be discounted during this time. Parking was easy. Staff working in the gift shop were exceptionally friendly.

What a gem! Aonibuaally drive out to nanton but over the years they sadly have less and less. But I still go and support. Today I was in town and seen the sign and did a hard turn to go check em out. Massive inventory. Extremely easy to see and look at the pieces. Super fair prices which for how much rent now a days, is that's kinda amazing in itself Imo. Got a silver square tray with little small legs as a plant holder. And a nice vintage Canmore book, Sorry of an era. Anywho. Great staff and side note but kinda says a lot. It smells really nice in there I know that sounds funny but if you do a lot of antique hunting, that's just not something that go together. Will be back in with my wife again soon. Thanks again. MB

Fantastic store if you have some money to spend on collectables. You can find about anything here. Would give 5* but I'm knocking a couple stars off for the staff member that was watching us, pretty sure she though we were stealing because we don't look the the usual clientele. If you have a worry about theft, a security guard should be in place.

I love this store and the family that runs it! Friendly, helpful, and so much fun to find wonderful treasures. Excellent and always changing items! If you like something, get it. Follow them on social for fun stories and neat fresh items. Update: still awesome, and still full of treasures!

I have been to this mall several times and have bought some beer related collectibles and some LPs. Most of the staff has been quite pleasant. But the person I'm assuming is the manager "as I never see him interact with customers" has given me some pretty contentious looks. So I will never set foot in there again.....I'm sure you don't need or want my business and I can find over priced vinyl anywhere.....

Where On Earth... Antique Mall and Vintage Market is a treasure hunter’s dream! This place has an incredible variety of antiques, collectibles, vintage finds, and so much more—no matter what you're looking for, you’re bound to find something unique. The selection is always changing, which makes every visit exciting. The prices are fair, and you can find great deals on one-of-a-kind items. It’s clear that the vendors take pride in their collections, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Saturdays can get pretty busy, and the parking lot fills up quickly, so arriving early is a good idea. But even with the crowds, the experience is well worth it. Plus, they have food available, which is a nice touch when you want to take a break from browsing. If you love antiques, vintage goods, or just exploring a fascinating variety of items, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the charming southeastern Alberta, the Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts is a delightful gem for lovers of performing arts. This quaint venue not only showcases popular musicals and plays but also offers a homestyle buffet that sets the stage for an unforgettable experience. Recently, I had the joy of attending a matinee performance of "Dream: A New Canadian Musical," which was both heartwarming and beautifully executed.
The play was amazing and the singers were spectacular. The buffet is big and delicious, it is served at The Mercantile which is located across the theater and all the people are super friendly. Highly recommended. Additionally, the tiny town is beautiful. You can walk around and visit the museum and the gift shops, read about the history of the town and meet the neighbors.

We had the pleasure of attending a matinee performance of Dream at the Rosebud Theatre, and it was truly a heartwarming and memorable experience. Before the show, we enjoyed a sumptuous lunch buffet at the Mercantile, and it was the perfect start to the afternoon. The selection was generous and thoughtfully prepared—from hearty mains to fresh sides and a dessert table that was hard to walk away from. The performance was beautifully staged, filled with moments that made us laugh, smile, and reflect. The story felt deeply relatable—woven with themes of faith, community, and enduring values. It struck a perfect balance between humour and poignancy, leaving us touched and uplifted. One line that stayed with us (and had the whole audience smiling) was, “If you can't find it at the Co-op, you don't need it.” The cast delivered their roles with sincerity and charm, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of the theatre itself only added to the experience. We left feeling inspired, connected, and already planning our return visit. The setting, the service, and the performance combined to create an unforgettable afternoon. If you're looking for an experience that feeds both the soul and the senses, Rosebud delivers.

We visited Rosebud for our anniversary and had a wonderful time! Its only a small town so people from surrounding communities run the shows and the Mercantile (where you can enjoy a meal before the performance). I assume the actors come from farther afield. The Rosebud Theatre is reasonably sized with gently-sloped seating, allowing for good viewing angles. We saw a new Canadian play called Dream. It was a musical about family and hope, hardwork and kindness. It was heartwarming! The actors were excellent, as was the story. I laughed and cried. I would encourage anyone who loves theatre or good, family-focused messages to go and see it before it's gone (Aug 30).

Drove all the way from Lethbridge to see the Green House play at Rosebud theater. First time to this theatre. Wonderful show! The play was well written and the story captivating. Excellent acting! Really enjoyed the show! The buffet was wonderful as well.

Great little town. Went to the afternoon theater, and had the lunch buffet. The buffet was plentiful and this talented young woman played a few songs on her guitar, she was very good. The play was awesome, and the actors were very talented. Went for a walk through town and was amazed at how western everything in town looked. The hospitality is above and beyond. The staff there, all had a smile. Very informative and fun place to visit. I would recommend this place to everyone to go and experience it at least once.

I experienced the New Canadian Musical, 'Dream' at Rosebud Opera House with my husband. This musical kept us captivated from beginning to end. I've been to many theatres in both Canada and in the United States to see many well known musicals. Taking the risk on an unknown Canadian Musical was 100% successful! We Loved it! The songs were fun, emotional, catchy and creative. We laughed, cried and were enchanted by this true story. Great acting, great vocals, great musicians, incredible story. Oh, and excellent meal options just to add to a perfect day trip! P. Drew, Edmonton

Exceptional Experience. We stayed in the town of Rosebud overnight for the Wednesday lunch Dinner Theatre. The lunch buffet was large & fresh, healthy choices, excellent variety. When done you can stroll through town & check out the number of Art Galleries & Museum there! The Opera House is where the Play is at; across the street. It was great! Will come again in a few months!

Nature & Parks
Horseshoe Canyon offers a stunning prairie valley experience, with options to explore through trails, lookout points, and even helicopter tours. The area features a new staircase leading to the valley bottom, providing an opportunity to immerse in the badlands landscape and its intriguing geological history. Visitors can also hike the Hoodoos Trail or take a short drive to walk among striped hills and prairie lands. The unique scenery evokes a sense of being in a dinosaur place or an alien landscape.
Such a unique place! I love it! And my husband says he loves Drumheller even more than mountains. It really feels like you’re on another planet. Can’t stop wondering what kind of miracles nature can create! Recommend 100%! In fact it’s a must. Don’t stay just on the viewpoints, go on a hike inside the canyon. But make sure you bring enough water, it’s quite hot out there. And after that you might wanna check the ice cream shop next to the campground 👌

Easy trails, amazing landscape! We spent 2 hrs here hiking and taking photographs on a sunny ☀️ but not humid September day, 22°c. Perfect!! Recommend visiting few hours before sunset for the best views! 😊 Staying till sunset might be good but we missed it. Saw few playful Gophers, no rattlesnakes. Possibility of ticks during season, be aware.

Absolutely stunning! This viewpoint offers a one-of-a-kind look at the vast badlands landscape. There are two viewing decks that give you different perspectives, and both are equally peaceful and awe-l inspiring. It's quiet, calm, and the views stretch for kilometers. You feel like you're looking into another world, definitely a must see if you're in the area. Although it was $2 to enter at this time, it was well worth it for the incredible views and peaceful atmosphere.

Really interesting place, I doubt I have ever seen anything like it. It gives you a good understanding of the overall area and what is special about Alberta. It is a small walk but quite a lot of stairs down which you need to climb back up. There are several lookout points on site which honestly give you the best view of the whole canyon.

It was spectacular! We were there 2 weeks ago. There were people doing mountain biking and saw that she just flew from our left hand side when we walked by … Not sure if it was allowed but there are many signs to say that we shall preserve the nature and don’t do anything to hurt or destroy its beauty, so that many generations of people can also hate the chance to see this wonderful horseshoe canyon !! There are many small and nice flowers 🌺 and it’s nice to just lie down for some sun on a windy day 😁 The plants are quite some different kinds to see. We were on the way back home but it’s a very good walk. My friend said there were not that many signs or built wooden lookouts, stairs, handrails etc before. In case you scare to fall, there are some aids and there is a bench on the way up / down to the lookout point. Take your time and enjoy the nature 😊 There are two sides of the carpark. One is closer to the starting point. So that side usually parked more cars. There are also restrooms, one for male and the other for female (they are all individual and big enough for wheelchairs or if you want to go in with children) It is a recommended place and I would like to bring my family there too :) We saw somebody with dogs … so it’s pet friendly (?)

Camping ground very close, like 50 meters away, has a general store and ice cream. A nice picnic area above to sit and enjoy scenery. The short inside walk is okay, but if you have a hard time with stairs, it might not be worth it since after the stairs, the path isn't very far in before you have to turn around. And going off the path will wreak the local area so you really shouldn't.

Neat little gem! Went for a hike here after visiting Dinosaur Provincial Park - this was so much better and so much more fun to explore! I thought it'd be a quick hike, but once you get exploring, time definitely gets away from you. It was also very quiet when we went, with very little people. There are lots of little gophers running around. The rock/sand formations are beautiful!

Great hike. Amazing views before you head into then valley. It may appear the trail has stopped, but continue on a bit over the rocks and trail continues. Trail goes for a number of kilometers. Hoodoos and cactus and the occasional flowering plant in the late August heat.

Bleriot Ferry

Ferry terminal
The Bleriot Ferry offers a delightful and unique experience as it gracefully traverses the Red Deer River, connecting two segments of the North Dinosaur Trail. Built in 1913 by Andre Bleriot, this charming cable ferry spans just 105 meters (344 feet) and operates free of charge from April to November. Visitors can step out of their vehicles for a moment to admire the impressive machinery at work while enjoying stunning views along the way.
Shortest ferry I have ever been on, no waiting, and the crossing was under 2 minutes! It was also the shallowest ferry ride I have been on having only 1 foot of clearance from ferry bottom to riverbed. No fee ferry.

Unfortunately, when we came here, it was closed, but it was still a nice visit. There is a campground nearby, which is nice. We will come here again next year when it is open again.

This ferry is very short and fun for kids. It's functional obviously to get across. It's mostly like a flat piece your car drives on and I think it can fit 4 cars? The whole trip takes 5 minutes maybe even less.

We came at this ferry at around 2150hrs and it was pitch dark, Terry the Guardian Ferry was amazing. He kinda guide us and told us some amazing experiences he had. Just like the other day, he said about 1k has crossed the river that is about 3ft deep only from 8 am till 3 pm. He also does the turning on and off of the pulley system of both ends. Thanks Terry for showing us and entertaining us on that short ride, you’re doing great and we appreciate what you do.

Operates on demand and according to capacity. When I went I was the only car on the crossing. It took about 5 minutes. You will not find a schedule online.

VERY cool!!!! You do not have to come this way but it is a nice change to slow down and enjoy. The guy running the ferry was really nice talking to everyone and happy to share about the area. Great drive down into the valley and back out.

Delivering cars to the other side safely and slowly. Seriously though, this is the slowest ferry I have ever been on ..... but I loved it. Nice and relaxed. Highly recommend when your in the area.

This is a great way to experience a cable ferry and the ferry captain/driver was humourous and super happy to show how the ferry operates. You're allowed to get out of the car, quickly take a peek over the guardrails to see yourself atop the metal contraption being winched across a fast moving river, them quickly hop back in so you can drive off and let the oncoming cars board. Best part! It is free to use this service and the mini adventure is totally worth the driving time / detour.
