The Manly to Spit Bridge Coastal Walk is a beloved 10 km trail that offers stunning views of Sydney's harbor and coastline. Whether starting at the boat-lined Spit Bridge or iconic Manly Beach, hikers will pass through sandy bays, ancient Aboriginal sites, tidal pools, and native bushland. The trail also connects several secret beaches like Fisher Bay and Sandy Beach before reaching the lively atmosphere of Manly with its restaurants and cafes.
If you’re not inclined to do the whole 10-kilometre walk from the Spit Bridge to Manly, a good option is to take advantage of the free parking on the lower streets of Fairlight, where you can walk down and join the path for a nice 2 to 2.5km walk into Manly. This way you can enjoy a lovely stroll and a day out in Manly, but avoid the cost of parking in Manly itself.
The gently winding path hugs the shoreline and has a few ups and downs along the way, but is fully paved and easily walkable for all fitness levels. Needless to say, the views are unbeatable. One of the best walks we’ve done in Sydney. And plenty of dogs along the path for added smiles! 😁

One of the best coastal walk trails in Australia. Start your journey from Manly wharf, allow yourself at least 3 hours to finish this amazing coastal hike. Bring lots of water, since there's no amenities around the area
It’s an amazing and rewarding 10km walk that showcases the natural beauty of Sydney Harbour. The walk starts at the Spit bridge and gets over at Manly Bay.
It approximately takes around 3.5 -4 hours to complete the walk at average speed with limited halts.
What amazed me was, the walk opens up to secluded beaches like Castle Rock Beach and Reef Beach which is very scenic and perfect for quick dip.
Really enjoyed and loved the scenic area around. A much recommended walk for everyone visiting Sydney.🙂

Fantastic walk if you want to see great scenery of one of Sydney's best coastal walks. It's a very known path, easy to see the signs and go through some bushes, aboriginal carvings, dog parks and many secluded nude beaches!
Be sure to pack some snacks and enough water. This 10km track will take you approximately 2.5-3hrs if you're not going in a big group.

Public hiking, no ticket required. We hiked for 10 km from Spit Bridge to Manly. Would say it's medium difficulty whenever the was rain, as the roads would be wet. Nice pathway provided along the walk. From greenery to beach view.
Recommended by a local while we rode the ferry in to Manly. Manly to Spit bridge walk has some beautiful views and an opportunities to discover some of the off grid beaches and coves. I particularly liked walking to the point where you have beautiful views of Sydney also the opening of the bay it’s about 10 km starting from the Wharf in Manly, but I just did up and back for about 10 km. My understanding is you can walk the whole way and catch a bus in to Sydney. But I wanted to take the ferry back.
There’s not many walks in Australia that can match the great walks of New Zealand, but when the sun is out, the Manly Spit Bridge Walk delivers.
Best of all, it’s an easy one to get to via public transport, elevation is minimal, and the track is (mostly) in good shape.
There are toilets located at a number of places, numerous spots you can bail out early and order a cab, and a few decent places to stop for a bite or a drink.
We did this with a ferry to Manly, and started the walk from the Wharf, completing it in about 4 hours, with a stop for lunch at the fabulous Bosk café at Clontarf and then an Uber back from Spit Junction (though there’s plenty of buses there).
The first section of the walk follows the wide esplanade round to Fairlight, diverting onto a few street before ducking back down to the harbour, and off the streets at North Harbour. From there it’s all off road, with some lovely patches of bushland, some sections which come right down to the harbour, and others which lift you up on to Dobroyd Head for views out of the Heads. There’s some steep steps around Castle Rocks, but most people of even basic fitness should be able to manage this walk.
There’s a little known coffee stand on the wharf at the Manly Boatshed, another café at North Harbour, and then it’s Clontarf and Spit Junction if you want lunch or a drink.

Unlike other Sydney beaches, Shelly Beach faces west, offering an exceptional setting to soak up the afternoon sun or witness stunning sunsets.
Shelly Beach feels like a little lagoon at the edge of the city. The walk from Manly builds the anticipation, then the headland opens and you see a neat curve of sand, rock shelves on both sides and water that often looks as clear as glass. Mornings are lovely here. Locals filter in with masks and fins, kids do the sand shuffle at the shoreline, and you can hear the low boom of swell on the outer reef while the bay itself stays calm. It is one of those places where you drop your towel, take a breath and feel the pace of the day soften.
Bring a snorkel if you can. This is part of a marine reserve, and it shows. Float over ribbons of kelp and scattered boulders and you will usually spot schools of sweep and mado, the odd ray sliding across the sand and, if you are lucky, a blue groper cruising like it owns the place. Entry from the sand is simple and friendly for beginners. On days with a little surge, fins help and it pays to stay closer to the centre of the bay. The water clarity can be excellent after a run of light winds, so early starts often reward you with the best visibility and fewer people.
Everything you need sits close by. There are toilets, showers and taps behind the beach, barbecues and picnic tables tucked under the trees, and a café at the back for coffee or something cold between swims. Shade on the sand is limited, so a hat, water and sunscreen make life easier. Parking on nearby streets fills quickly on sunny weekends; the ferry to Manly and a short stroll along the path is the stress free option. Leave nothing but footprints, give the wildlife space and linger a little after your swim. Watching the colour of the bay shift while you warm up on the rocks is half the joy of Shelly.

Shelly beach was a great spot to swim! There are great shower and bathroom facilities just next to the beach, and the water was lovely. Lots of snorkelers, surfers and swimmers around.

This beach is a closed one, tides are high, so don't get deep into sea here. The sea pulls us faster into it. So be alert when you are planning to enjoy this beach.
Beaches are always a serene space and provide calmness. Should always enjoy it whenever we need grounding for ourselves. And we are confused. These open beaches can transform our thoughts and rejuvenate us, when we keep observing the sea and the surroundings. So enjoy your solitude here or with family.
Take a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly in the morning, enjoy the food, surroundings and the beach, return back to Circular Quay during sunset, you will love the transition.
Manly wharf is also really beautiful, there are few food spots in it.

Manly Beach is absolutely stunning! The sand is clean, the water is crystal clear, and the whole area has such a relaxing holiday vibe. It’s perfect for swimming, surfing, or just enjoying a walk along the promenade. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby, so you can easily spend the whole day here. The ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly is also a beautiful experience on its own. Truly one of Sydney’s must-visit beaches — highly recommended! 🌊☀️
My first trip to an Australian beach was to Manly, and it was amazing! The ferry ride from the city was beautiful, seeing the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge from the water is something I will never forget.
When I arrived, I was so impressed. The sand is so soft and white, and the beach is so long and wide. It's different from the beaches in Phuket or Koh Samui; the vibe here is very active, with so many people surfing! The water was a beautiful clear blue, a little chilly for me, but so refreshing.
I loved walking along The Corso, grabbing some fish and chips, and just watching everyone enjoy the sun. It felt so relaxing and happy. Manly Beach has a wonderful, laid-back feeling that is the perfect introduction to the famous Australian beach culture. It’s a day trip I would recommend to any of my friends back home in Thailand!

Good choice if you wanna stay away from busy Sydney
One of Sydney’s iconic beaches it was great to visit it during our recent stay. Gee it was busy around both the beach and town area. But that didn’t stop me from venturing in for a little swim and a play in the waves. The waves are huge and I was knocked over twice but that’s part of the fun right. Whilst we sat on the beach we witnessed a surf rescue. Those guys are superb at what they do.
Offer a perfect mix of laid-back vibes and stunning coastal views, ideal for both surfers and families. The scenic ferry ride from Circular Quay adds to the charm of the experience. Plenty of cafés, shops, and walking paths make it great for a day out.

But they are professionals with excellent customer service. I felt very safe and had a fun experience. Highly recommend everyone to check it out - even beginners, non-swimmers and children. Our family took a visiting work colleague from overseas on the 9-12 tour and it was a most enjoyable morning. Even though I've lived in Sydney my whole life, this was a perspective I've never had before. Enjoying a quiet, empty, picturesque beach and bush track like that, you'd think you were miles from anywhere. The views at the top were as beautiful as any in the world. Our children are 7 and 10, and if you're taking children, you can expect they will help paddle intermittently and take breaks, so it'd be good if they are with an adult capable of doing the majority of the work. Our guest enjoyed the experience very much, as did we all. Thanks to our guide, Stu!

We had a lovely time today. We came especially for the Bluey experience and it was definitely well worth it. My daughter was so happy to meet Bluey and Bingo and have a photo taken with them. We were not rushed at all and she was given the chance to give them each a hug.
We loved seeing the koalas and the Galapagos turtles the most. The interaction with the kangaroos was unforgettable. Got to see the cranky Croc but were unable to see the show as it was too crowded.
It was so lovely to be out in nature. Loved to learn about the breeding programs they had. The staff were very friendly. Definitely recommend

We had a fantastic day at the Australian Reptile Park! The park has an impressive collection of reptiles and Australian native animals — from snakes and crocodiles to koalas and Tasmanian devils. The kids especially loved feeding the friendly wallabies and kangaroos, and the highlight of the day was meeting Bluey and Bingo! The park also has lovely picnic areas and a great playground, making it a perfect spot for families to relax and enjoy the day. Highly recommended for a fun and educational outing!
We mainly visited the park for the Bluey show but everything else was great too. The place is nice, not too crowded and kids friendly. It's not huge like other zoos which makes the walking easier with young kids. It has a playground with shaded seats for parents. The shows were quite fun and entertaining and staffs were friendly and knowledgeable.
This was honestly really well done. It was obvious the staff cared about the animals the various medical works they support as well as having a nice well kept park. It was a bit expensive, but I can see how the money was being used unlike so many other places. This is definitely a recommend, especially on weekends
I had an amazing time visiting the Australian Reptile Park! The park is beautifully maintained, and you can tell the animals are really well cared for. There’s such a great variety — from reptiles and kangaroos to koalas and crocodiles — and everything is easy to see and enjoy.
The staff truly make the experience special. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the animals. They took the time to answer questions, share fun facts, and make visitors feel welcome. You can really see how much they love what they do.
The shows and talks were entertaining and educational, and it’s great to know that the park plays a big role in wildlife conservation and education in Australia.
Highly recommend a visit for families, tourists, or anyone who loves animals. A big thank you to the whole team at the Australian Reptile Park for making it such an enjoyable and memorable day!
Had a great day with my family. Little one age 3 was very excited, loved the playground there as well. Lots of little spots to have a picnic lunch or buy from the kiosk.
Cool place! The reptile talk was very good, the guy who did it was entertaining and clearly very knowledgeable. The spider section was a bit disappointing - more fake spiders than real ones! The gators and snakes were highlights, though.

There are many things to see and do in Terrigal, such as the War Memorial Pavilion in Figure 2, hiking along the Broadwalk, enjoying different sea views, and taking photos (Figures 19, 7-9, 11), climbing the Skillion (a small hill) to view the Terrigal coastline, and admiring Terrigal Beach from Haven (a large grassy slope) (Figure 6). You can also go kayaking and paddle boarding at the lagoon on the other side (especially suitable for families with children) (Figures 15-18)
On the other side of the Boardwalk is the town's commercial street, where Crowne Plaza (Figure 13) is located. There are many shops, small art galleries and bars downstairs in the Plaza, which are well worth a visit. In addition, there are many kinds of shops in the commercial street, including clothing stores, gift shops, various restaurants, fast food restaurants, etc. However, when we went there on Christmas Eve, many shops were closed, and it was a bit deserted.
I call it a secret place because the scenery here is not inferior to beaches like Bondi or Manly, but it is not as famous as Bondi or Manly. It is a hidden place that only some Sydneysiders and Central Coast locals know about.

I visited Terrigal Beach with my work friends, driving just an hour and a half from Sydney. These are photos from the sunrise that truly impressed me. There was a lovely beachfront market, people walking their dogs, and some enjoying coffee while watching the sunrise. The place is beautiful, with a great atmosphere and not too crowded. I absolutely love it here — it’s perfect for me, and I can’t wait to come back again.

We had such a beautiful time at Terrigal Beach,it's one of those places that instantly makes you feel relaxed and refreshed. The golden sand stretches wide and long, perfect for a peaceful walk or just lying back under the sun. The water was clean and calm, great for both swimming and just dipping your toes in.
What really made the visit special was the vibrant but laid-back vibe. The beachfront is lined with charming cafes, little shops, and restaurants where you can grab a coffee or enjoy fresh seafood with an ocean view. We also loved the Terrigal Haven, a short walk from the main beach, perfect spot for snorkeling or watching the sunset.
Parking was pretty easy to find, and the area felt safe and family-friendly. Whether you're going with friends, family, or on a solo getaway, Terrigal Beach has something for everyone. Can't wait to go back!
It’s not very busy and extremely underrated compared to the nearby, much more popular beaches such as the entrance. It has gorgeous views and is generally a nice place to visit.
A really beautiful beach. Can be crowded, especially on a weekend but it’s still a wonderful beach to come to. Terrigal Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Central Coast . There is designated parking but that can get full very quickly especially when it’s busy. There is a small ocean rock pool tucked away into the cliff on the southern end of the pool and is patrolled all year for safe swimming. There’s good toilet and shower facilities and also handicapped toilets. The picnic areas include grassed areas and under cover picnic tables. There is also a fantastic walking path leading to the Terrigal Boardwalk. There’s plenty of cafes and restaurants around that you can grab something to eat. Unfortunately, the beach does not cater for people with accessibility needs. The view is stunning, so beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Wow, what an absolutely awesome place come and visit, you can take a tour of the light house for $15 for adults and $10 for children, there is also a coffee shop with outdoor seating and also has beautiful rock landscape among the ocean to take a walk and get some selfies in, it's definitely one for the bucket list.

We visited Norah Head Lighthouse while on a short stopover in Norah Head. It is an interesting place that has been preserved nicely and is maintained by volunteers. There are interesting information boards that highlight the history of the headland, including details of every shipwreck in the area since the 1800s. A very interesting place. Although there were no tours when we were there, volunteers do conduct tours when the weather is suitable.
A great place for a weekend or week day visit. You can have a guided tour up into the light house with spectacular views over the coast line. The lighthoise is open for tours 10.30 till 1.30 7 days a week. Alternatively you can walk around the lighthouse along the walkways. There are also great cafe's in the main street you can visit for lunch coffee of a quick bite to eat.

This was an amazing place. The views over the ocean were fantastic. We couldn’t get our past the gate which was locked but there is an accessible walkway from the car park 🅿️ leading past the cottages to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was built between 1901 to 1903 to protect ships travelling from Sydney to Newcastle . There are private tours on offer and to climb the stairs it cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. The cottages are also available to stay in. There is a small shop that offers some basic souvenirs and food/drinks. If you are feeling up to it, it’s definitely worth the climb to the top. It’s 100 steps and the views are stunning. You are blessed with 360 views of Norah Head. Be warned that the steps are narrow and it’s a spiral staircase. This was a memorable experience and I would definitely recommend a visit. A lovely place to have a walk around the rocks and little beaches but you need to be able to climb some stairs. The lighthouse and surrounds are easy Accessed by wheelchairs. Beautiful scenery

The tour of the light house is well worth doing. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining and the views were amazing. The lighthouse is a beautiful old structure.

The setting is small but cozy, clean, and welcoming—perfect for a relaxed stop on a wine tour. A real highlight was spotting kangaroos around the vineyards, which added a wonderful touch of Aussie charm to the visit.
All in all, there’s nothing to complain about—just a genuinely nice experience in a beautiful spot. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

The Vineyard was very pretty and the guide was very very informative. I have taken tours of many Vineyards and wineries around the world, and this guide really knew her enology and viticulture. It would’ve been a wonderful tour and tasting, except for the fact that at the end she was making fun of one of the wines that we actually wanted to bring home. Which made things a little awkward. It was one of the sweet wines, and I usually love a big red Cabernet, and lived near the California wine region for many years, and was accustomed to California wines, but have grown a fondness for other regional wines, including Australia, and was really enjoying some of their Pinots, but also some of the sweeter wines which are really not offered much in California vineyards. And so we were looking forward to bringing some of the sweeter wines back, and it was really offputting that the guide was sort of making fun of them, because then we felt really odd buying them. Spoiler alert: we bought them anyway! But she made us feel like a little bit of a dummy that we wanted to buy them. I know that a more sophisticated palate would’ve bought some of the other wines, but that’s not what we wanted.
Always a pleasure to visit this boutique winery. Even the local Roos came out to say hi and lounge in the sun amongst the vines.

I visited the Hunter Valley for the first time recently and did a wine tasting at Ernest Hill Wines with the lovely Lesley. The wine was incredible (I am so disappointed I didn't grab more to bring back to Adelaide 😔) and Lesley was so incredibly friendly, welcoming, passionate and knowledgeable! We had a great wine tasting with Leslie in the Hunter Valley. She was friendly, easy to chat with, and really knew her stuff without making it feel formal or rushed. Leslie explained each wine clearly and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does.
Would definitely recommend booking a tasting with her if you’re in the area.
We loved hearing about the family history behind the wine names — such a personal touch. The kangaroos were fascinating to see, and it was interesting to learn how they pose unique challenges for winemaking (definitely not something we deal with in the States!). The winery has a calm, homey, and welcoming vibe that made the visit especially enjoyable. While the dessert wines stood out to us, it was really the overall atmosphere that made this experience so memorable.

Unlike larger zoos, there was no rush, and we could take our time connecting with the wildlife. It's definitely desired to stop here. And take a look into the zoo is much more than I expected. Before before I think it's maybe just a small zoom with little animals. But in reality, they are quite a variety of animals, and also, you can see the white kangaroo. Here, you also can feed the kangaroo and other animals. I was pleasantly surprised by this place — I’d never heard of it before, but it turned out to be a beautiful spot! The animals look well cared for and generally very happy. I was amazed to see they even have lions and my favourite, the giraffes! A few animals did look a bit restless, but overall it’s a lovely park to visit with the family and definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.
I was genuinely surprised to find such a sizeable wildlife park in Hunter Valley. At first, I thought it would just be a small place with a few animals, but it turned out to have some large predators as well as many unique Australian animals. You can also enjoy close encounters with kangaroos, which was a great experience. If you’re visiting Hunter Valley, I think spending half a day here is definitely worthwhile.
Amazing zoo, you are able to get up close to most of the animals and see some really unique animals and immersive experience. Most people dont know about this zoo but it's great. Only thing I would change would be the giraffe enclosure your down hill from them so unless they are right in front of you it make it hard to get as good a look as your able to with the other animals they have but you still get good views.
What a great zoo with an extensive variety of animals, not alot or of shade available during a hot or rainy day; prepare yourself on those days.
Very busy on weekends and during school holidays, also attracts some derelict people which can add to your entertainment.
Clean BBQ’s available for you to utilise at lunch time if you bring your own lunch.
Very family friendly! Kids can interact with kangaroo, goats, Bambi. Even some chicken cage free. Memorable experience, make sure to buy their merchandise when you came to support this lovely zoo 🍻
So worth the drive, the parking is fine even when busy, admission prices are great value for money, the venues staff can’t help you enough and have amazing customer service, but the range of beautiful animals and birds exotic animals is so wonderful, it’s such an amazing and beautiful place to visit you can see all of the displays so well, the coffee is nice too. Highly recommended a trip to the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park, it’s and easy walk around, facilities are clean and Cessnock is only down the road if you want to stay overnight, for me was a 2 hour easy drive from Sydney’s Hills area

We had an absolutely outstanding experience at Petersons House restaurant! From start to finish, everything was flawless. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful meal.
The service was impeccable, and the food was simply exceptional. The lamb rack was to die for—perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavour. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and exceeded expectations. The whole dining experience was such a pleasure and the deconstructed lemon meringue was nothing short of sensational – the perfect finish to an amazing meal.
Our grandchildren were also so well catered for and entertained with the activity book waiting for them at the table on arrival, which made the experience even more special.
Petersons House is a true gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning!

Blackbut Reserve is such an amazing place for nature and photography lovers. You can spot plenty of wildlife, from birds to wallabies, making photo hunting really exciting. The atmosphere is calm, green, and relaxing-perfect for a walk while carrying your camera. It's also a great place for families, a fun walk with friends, or just to enjoy a refreshing day outdoors. Truly a fun and memorable spot for everyone.
I visited this place on a lovely afternoon and had an amazing experience. The parking was convenient and well-organized. Birds and different animals were freely around the area, which made it both exciting and enjoyable to watch. The pleasant sound of birds created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There were also great facilities for barbecue and seating, making it a perfect spot to spend time. The weather was wonderful, and everything together made it a truly memorable visit.
I spent a lovely morning at the Blackbutt Nature Reserve and it was great! We saw wallabies, one koala, emus and much more. The park in itself is really nice and very well organized. It’s perfect for families with kids !

The reserve is free but the parking lot is around 6$ by hour.

Nice park with relaxing area with a playground near the cafe. Many beautiful birds and a paved pathway to see various animals. We saw birds, kangaroos, emus, reptiles and a koala. It was busy but festive on the weekend we went. Overall a great place to visit.
Great for a family day out or a place to hang with friends. There are plenty of spots to sit and have a picnic, including picnic tables. Kids area is great. Cafe has a good selection - all sorts of flavoured croissants, biscuits and cakes, as well as a full menu of breakfast and lunch food. I had a Nutella cookie and it was extremely good! The main nature walk includes koalas, wallabys, lizards, frogs, and birds of all sorts. The emu and kangaroo area is always good to walk around. There are plenty of walking tracks through the reserve.
Entry is free, but parking is not. Not really any public transport options, and the road outside the reserve is pretty dangerous to try to cross and theres minimal space to walk on that side of the road. Very much not walkable to there if you live nearby.
I've always loved Blackbutt and spent many happy hours there as a child, with my children and now grand children. But honestly, charging for parking? Any wonder the car park was empty, a disgraceful grab for cash.

The walking trail from **Merewether Beach** to **King Edward Park Lookout** is about 6 km return. I enjoyed a wonderful 1.5-hour walk on a delightful afternoon. The weather was perfect, the beach was absolutely stunning, and the sunset created a magical atmosphere. Great coastal walk along some of Newcastle's best beaches like Bar Beach, Merewether Beach. You can walk all the way to Newcastle and spot a hang glider or 2.

Absolutely wonderful tunnel tour for $15 per adult. The historical society volunteer guides are great and explaining everything and happy to answer any questions. They’ve done a wonderful job at keeping the fort open to the public and restoring a huge piece of local history. Amazing views from the top with plenty of ocean life to watch. Would highly recommend.

Loved the fort, it was awesome to see a real piece of history and how our land was protected. It's free to walk around but need to pay for the tunnels, which are pretty cool as well. If you go before 1:00pm make sure you stick around as there is the one o'clock gun that goes off.

Great place, very well taken cared and shown by a very enthusiastic staff of volunters, witnessed the 13:00p cannon shot followed by a guided visit to the tunnels, that's really the part you have to pay for,the fortress itself is free, but if you ask me it's absolutely worth every cent.
Admission is free, and the staff at the front gate are very friendly, welcoming us and providing some additional information. The panoramic view from the top is truly awesome, and I highly recommend a visit when you are in Newcastle.

Guided tours, festivals & a cafe at a storied penitentiary that operated from 1848 to 1998.
Maitland gaol was a great experience with a great audio tour from your own mobile phone. I was able to stream this straight to my cochlear implants and also have the transcript to read as well for full accessibility. We’re looking forward to coming back when we can tour the towers.

Fantastic experience and was a great morning out. We just did the self guided tour and enjoyed the observations and stories about previous employees. Very interesting history and easy to navigate. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Only suggestion I have for visitors is probably leave the younger kids at home! My older two (7 & 5) enjoyed it but the 3 year old got bored quickly.
Fascinating and confronting - the prison is in an excellent state of preservation and the various eras are well represented in the surviving buildings. The stories from inmates and guards range from sad to spine chilling. An important relic of Australian history preserved for everyone to visit.
What a waste of money. We did the night tour. Young children crying and wanting to leave. People with torches in your face. Nothing too exciting or interesting. People filming for a paranormal experience with fake noises in the background.
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Crimes of Passion’ night tour. Our knowledgable and charismatic guide, Robyn and her storytelling ability made it an immersive and memorable experience. We’d recommend this tour and a visit to Maitland Gaol, and will be sure to return :)
This was a mix between serious ghost hunt and theatrical horror house.
The atmosphere at night is amazingly solemn and creepy.
We were told some interesting history on the tour. I wish I had done a little more research into the history before the tour so that I could have put myself into the experience more.
I have quite a fascination with jails so this of course was a must visit.
I did the self guided tour and throughly enjoyed walking around listening to the stories while checking the place out.
Highly recommend visiting to anyone considering it.

We had a brilliant day here, 3 generations of family.
Clean, well kept amenities including BBQ s, children's playgrounds, and best of all handfeeding baby farm animals was a big win.
The free tractor trailer rides really showcase this Wildlife facility, highly recommended for younger kids and primary age.

Went by myself to kill some time, had a great time. I did the koala encounter and the keeper was so fun and knew so much about the koalas. Fed so many animals and had a great time, loved the baby goats and all the birds, there was a black cockatoo that was very entertaining to watch, everything was so clean and it was a great experience
Great family friendly place. Water park is great! Nice park to walk around in with a good variety of animals. They have a new red panda enclosure but unfortunately we couldn't spot any.

A quick stop for an incredible view. There are two areas to enjoy the view. Free parking is available in a small parking area at the lookout.
The drive up is steep and winding, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it! You get a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the entire Port Stephens area, including the bay, Tomaree Head, and the surrounding landscape. It's the perfect first stop to get your bearings and appreciate the scale of this beautiful region. A must-do for the view alone!

The Marina is situated next to the Nelson Bay's City Centre. It has it's own public paid parking limited to 4 hrs at about $5 per hour. There are some cafes and restaurants around. It's a nice place to be.
Taking a ferry cruise is a unique and enjoyable way to travel, especially if you're crossing between islands or coastal cities. From the moment you board, you’re welcomed by fresh sea air, wide open views, and the relaxing sound of the waves.
Have a chance to do ferry to see the whale from Nelson bay. Beautiful places. Lots of restaurant. Have car park space. Good souvenir shop.

Tomaree Head is a must-visit destination in Port Stephens, offering sandy beaches and hiking trails that lead up bush-clad mountains for stunning ocean views. Gorgeous short 1km hike to the summit, beautiful 360 views at the top. Lots of stairs near the top, there are a few options to choose a paved path or traditional hiking path. These can be down in sneakers or even summer sandals if you didn’t pack hiking boots. It took me 12 minutes to get to the top, only stopping twice for a quick picture.
Definitely another must visit at Shoal Bay, in addition to the summit walk. It’s an easy flat walk with ocean breeze and access to the WWII torpedo emplacement & six inch gun emplacement, just be careful navigating through the rocks.
The Tomaree Coast track offers a great days hiking along this beautiful coastline! So much to see along the way.
Well it's quite a walk up the hill but I took some water and got up to the top and wow what have you if you make the trip up the mountain it is well worth it lot of spots it's quite easy the pathway is a lot better than what it used to be they spend a bit of time fixing up the path I do recommend going up the hill if you have the time the views are excellent from mwh

Second light house on my visit to Australia. Port Macquarie is a nice place with several areas to go and see the sites as well as sit and relax. This one was easy to find parking and casual stroll about. It is winter in Australia at this time so it can be a bit cool and breezy so keep that in mind if visiting (although during the day while the sun is out, it's not that bad)
We stopped here 2yrs ago and the upgrades they have made are A+! The elevated board walk is magic, the extra seating is a great addition and the anchored binoculars are a wonderful idea (they could have been a little taller and there could have been a set on every observation deck). Beautifully restored and maintained. We got to see some whales in the distance and the binoculars definitely helped!
Such a lovely view of the sea. From the top of the cliff, this small light house section gives you a panoramic view of the sea. Both sides of the sea stretching across kilometres.

Whether you drive straight to Tacking Point Lighthouse or take the 3 hour coastal walk from Port Macquarie, the views here are stunning. The lighthouse is automated these days with LED lights though that does not take away from the nostalgia and history. There are many placards that detail the history and sights.
During certain times of the year, you can see whales migrating up and down the coast.
If you want to can walk down to lighthouse beach or have a picnic on the grounds.

Beautiful rainforest walk, very well designed and about a bit more than 1 km long. We didn’t see many animals, but the nature and atmosphere made it a lovely experience. After the walk, we stopped at the café which was excellent – great food and drinks! We had a cappuccino and bacon with eggs, both super tasty and freshly made. Definitely worth a visit for a peaceful walk and a relaxing coffee break

Fantastic Rainforest tree walk on a walkway through the forest with interesting information along the way about the various trees and plants and their uses. We were lucky enough to see a goanna. Great information centre and souvenirs, Cafe was excellent. Definitely worth a visit.
We visited Sea Acres Rainforest centre and did the board walk today and it was magical! We were told at reception where we would see a Powerful Owl, and then spotted it perched on a tree branch which was amazing to see, definitely would not have seen this if we weren’t for the help! The walk is beautiful at every point and the trees were breathtaking! We also met Graham, who is a volunteer at the centre, and asked us if we had any questions about the place, we asked about the fig trees and he had all the facts, we learnt so much! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable so special thanks to Graham! I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The Koala Conservation Hospital Port Macquarie is a small rehabilitation center that offers tours to the public. Visitors can meet adorable koalas and learn about their care and preservation for free. The hospital also has a gift shop and offers a Feed, Walk, and Talk tour every afternoon at 3:00 pm.
I recommend going early when the koalas are still active and having their mealtime. It was heartwarming to see how the unwell or injured koalas were cared for. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the volunteers were doing an amazing job.
During our visit, there were four joeys, and it was wonderful to see them all. Evans, an injured koala on a special diet, was a delight to watch as he enjoyed his meal. The educational section was also excellent, providing interesting koala facts and valuable knowledge.

The Koala Hospital is currently operating from Guulabaa on Burrawan Forest Drive while they redevelop the site in town. It is such a great facility and so wonderful to see the koalas up in their trees. Great picnic spot outside.
Such a wonderful experience! The family enjoyed it. Good to see we have hospitals for these beautiful animals. They even have a store with cute items to buy. They also have a heritage onsite with cafe with memorabilia.

What a wonderful place for rescued Koalas. When you visit in the morning when the Koalas get food they are awake. Since September 2024 the hospital needs to charge an entry fee because people weren’t donating enough. An adult pays 12,50$ to treat the sick Koalas. We loved the visit and only met very kind volunteers.
An amazing experience! We gained fascinating insights into the organization’s work at the Koala Hospital. The dedicated volunteers were incredibly knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. We were lucky to spot a few koalas, but it’s clear that the focus here is not on showcasing the animals for tourism but on their protection and care—huge respect for that!
The hospital will be closing soon, but there is a koala breeding center on the other side of the city, run by the same organization. We were encouraged to visit for more valuable insights.

We visited the hospital with the family on a thursday morning. The best option is to go early, as they get food in between 8.30 and 9.00. They also get food in the evening. We didn’t book a tour guide but Maz was around and gave alot of information. We could ask all and any questions about the koalas and their way of life. It’s great to support the hospital as they so take care of them with care.

Good initiative! There really wasn’t that much to do here though for those who have seen koalas before and been to other conservation parks. There were 5 koalas to see and a sign of how they were found. All up 10 min visit.
Spent an hour and a half learning about the koalas and the amazing work done at the hospital. Watched a baby koala climb down a tree, so cute, and saw a few captive koalas munching away on eucalyptus or snoozing comfortably on their branches. There are lots of complaints about the $12.50 fee to enter, I feel it's well worth it and a good cause too. Sue was also lovely, answering any questions we had and pointing things out to us that we may have missed, thanks Sue!

Local family farm, went here in December and not much Strawberries left at the farm. The kids enjoyed the experience. Charge per kg more expensive than fruit shop of course. The scones and their strawberry jam are so good, definitely recommended.
It’s a really nice experience to visit this place, especially during the strawberry picking season. We went when it wasn’t harvest time, but we still had a great time. The little one loved searching for and cutting the strawberries.
The place has several greenhouses with walking paths, and at the entrance they give you a small basket and scissors to pick your strawberries. Inside, there are friendly signs reminding visitors not to eat the berries before paying, as everything is grown with care and effort.
They also have some hydroponic products, a café or restaurant with good service, and plenty of parking. Behind the main area there’s a short path leading to a small pond, perfect for a quiet walk. Overall, it’s a simple but very pleasant experience to enjoy with the family.
We didn’t do strawberry picking but had a with lunch on way to Sydney. Ordered scones which was really very good… best in the world according to UK 🌟
Fettuccine was average, nothing great. No vegetables only sauce and that too not much.They can do with a bit more pasta sauce.soup was nice though… along with a warm bun. Also bought tomatoes 🍅 and chutney. We also like to buy seeds for tomatoes but it wasn’t available….

The very first thing to do eat tomatoes and Strawberries they’re so fresh and Tasty. Wonderful place with nice and friendly staff. Lot of options to explore to eat and buy jam and relish etc. scones are no 1 favourite there for me after Tomato 😊
Easy to find, not too far off the freeway but far enough that it’s quiet.
Lunch was delicious, I had creamy mushroom and garlic with Turkish bread and it was delicious, my sister had the bruschetta and was also delicious, we both also had a strawberry milkshake- delicious.
We also shared some scones with strawberry jam and cream- delicious.
We bought tomatoes that tasted like real tomatoes- delicious and although we didn’t have time to pick strawberries they did look amazing.

Great way to spend an hour as a family. Kids love it. Good for picking up fresh food for dinner too if self catering.
I was disappointed after reading that they have "the world's best scones" to find that the scones we had were hard and dry, not very appetising. The coffee however was great.

Quaint, octagonal 1891 beacon with a winding staircase & overnight stays at the keeper's cottage.
Absolutely beautiful light house. The ocean view from the top was magical. The ocean looks like it's been painted. Plenty of parking area available and an easy drive to get there. There were few kangaroos in the area. They were friendly. The view of the other hill side was fantastic too.

What a beautiful spot! The views are amazing and the hike was very do-able and while steep both my wife and I had no problems. We love historic places like lighthouses.
There was even a local sunning near the accommodation. 🦘
The lighthouse near South West Rocks is pure magic. ✨ The energy here is electric… alive with ocean breeze, rolling waves, and quiet wonder. We even got a special visit from the whales, gliding past like something out of a dream. 🐋

Didn't see a way to get into the lighthouse itself and tour the inside of the lighthouse.
The hill up is definitely steep but only a short walk really. I just took a few breaks as a severe Asthmatic.
The lighthouse is part of the national park area. About 7 Km's from the main road to the old gaol.
It's a steep walk from the carpark so be prepared. Great views make it worthwhile.
Smokey Cape Lighthouse is a short drive from the main road. Plenty of parking. Accessible parking available. The walk upto the Lighthouse is steep but the views are spectacular.
There's walking tracks to the beach.
There's an open area with picnic tables and toilets on the upper grassed area above the carpark over looking the beach in the distance it's family friendly. This place is gorgeous. Views for miles. Well worth taking the trip. There is also accommodation here. And a gorgeous bush walk to the gaol. Kangaroos as well. Very peaceful.
Beautiful location for whale watching. Just a steep walk to the lighthouse, so would not recommend for wheelchair users or prams. 🐳🐳🐳

Trial Bay Gaol is a well-preserved 19th-century prison located on a picturesque peninsula. It was initially built for constructing a breakwater, which ultimately failed, leading to its use as an internment camp during World War I. This is worth the look, there is an entry fee (seniors discount is available); we visited last week, I believe it was approx $12 per adult. There is a movie that plays which is interesting to watch and gives a run down of the history. There are also 2 audio's that play in the cells telling different stories. You can walk freely around the entire complex and climb up the stairs for an amazing view. There are also souvenir golden coins that can be purchased from the shop.

I had no idea about the history behind this gaol and how interesting it was. It is a beautiful location with stunning views and some resident kangaroos! If you are lucky and there at the right time you may even see whales!

What an extraordinary place. Trial Bay Gaol took my breath away. The view alone is worth the visit… the bluest ocean stretching endlessly beneath you, wrapped in fresh sea air that feels like a gift. 🌊✨
There’s a kind of energy here that’s hard to explain…. the kind you’d love to bottle up and keep forever. The architecture, the history, the wild beauty surrounding it… it all weaves together to create something truly special.
I honestly don’t know why this place isn’t more well known, but I’m so grateful I got to experience it. It’s one of those rare places that lingers with you long after you leave.
11 dollars entry, which I thought was very reasonable. You have the opportunity to have a look in the small museum at the entry. Then you can walk around the goal at your own pace. Make your way up the watchtower for awesome views. The cells are open to walk inside as well as the quiet cells.
Stunning, old ruins kept in pristine condition. Very much worth the modest entry price. Views forever. An interesting part of Australias history. Don't miss the museum!
Fun couple of hours if you are visiting South West Rocks. The Gail has a rich convict history as well as being used as an internment camp for Germans during the First World War. Great views of the bay from the top of the guard house. Watch the short film before you go in, for a brief history of the gaol.
one of the best highlights for a road trip! An awesome place to visit with a fascinating historical background. The site offers a pretty cool experience and is definitely worth a stop if you’re exploring the area.
We visited the historic gaol site for a while however it was so windy that it was hard to walk, 80 km gusts driving huge waves on the ocean. The stone walls built by convicts are still standing strong but there are few roofs left. The display panels tell a lot of stories of the prison system of the time and of the time when German prisoners were interned in WW1 as enemy aliens
The site is well worth visiting

Beautiful place to enjoy the view with many painted rocks lining the walk. Wish we had brought our own paint to make our own painted rock. They also have a very nice and clean bbq facility as well as many shaded picnic tables to enjoy a meal

We visited the Nambucca head on the way back to Sydney. Wow it got breath taking ocean view and the V wall walk is so memorable. We shall bring the colours and preparing our own design to revisit this site in the near future.
Wall was amazing great to see all the painting on the rocks. Not quite sure who and why they were painted. There were memorial plagues of people that had passed away which was a little confronting but all good. Fishing there was pretty ordinary really, the current was really strong tide going out and even when it started to come back in the afternoon it was still quite strong. Lots of snags in the water so lost a few lines and jigs trying the wall. Would recommend to check out the tide before you go and attempt the wall. No one else caught anything either in several hours. Overall though it is a beautiful spot for a picnic a quick swim etc. Recommend visit if your in Nambucca Heads for sure.
Beautiful place to visit and relax. You can enjoy a nice walk and it’s quite interesting to see where the river meets the ocean. The beach is lovely and peaceful and perfect for a holiday or a quick stop during a road trip. Definitely worth a detour.
Great place to walk wall and lots of interesting rocks. You can also break the walk by taking the side track across to Shelley Beach. A further side track takes to Wellington which can make a circuit. You have to back track from Shelley a short while. The wall is an easy 3.6km walk along foreshore.

Beautiful and long walk along the water with thousands of colourful, well painted rocks lining the shore. Saw the biggest and closest pod of dolphins I've ever seen in my life towards the end, playing in the waves. Must do if anywhere in the area

Dangar Falls is a stunning 30-meter waterfall located in a wooded setting, featuring a viewing platform, parking area, and picnic tables. The track to the falls starts with a yellow sign 2km north of the Dorrigo township and leads to a lookout platform offering excellent views of the falls as they plunge over a basalt wall into the Bielsdown River. Visitors can also enjoy swimming at this picturesque spot.
Great spot for a cool dip. A very pretty waterfall and although not massively high, it’s a nice walk down. Best of all, this walk and falls is dog friendly. There aren’t picnic areas down the bottom, but you could grab a rock and enjoy a swim. The walk down is via a well defined path and does involve steps but they aren’t step and it’s well spaced out. The viewing platform at the top has a picnic area, toilets and a playground. All dog friendly.

Dangar falls is about 45-60 minutes from Dorrigo in NSW, depending on road conditions and road work in progress.
There's a viewing platform up top opposite Falls to get photos, trail 20 minutes to bottom - not accessible friendly. To swim - take photos (unfortunately closed since 13/5/25 due to tree falling on decking).
Near the viewing platform there is male/ female/ accessible toilets, BBQ area, open space for dogs, labyrinth - 3 mins walk, plenty of parking - accessible friendly car park - viewing platform. Playground equipment.

Dangar Falls is a 30m waterfall conveniently located an easy 30-minute drive from Bellingen and about 2.5km from Dorrigo town.
The facilities at the top, near the car park, are very well-managed. There is ample public parking, a children's play area, clean public toilets, and available rubbish bins. A coffee van is also on-site, providing a convenient option for visitors.
A well-constructed viewing platform offers a fantastic, direct perspective of the waterfall.
The walk to the base of the falls is pleasant and takes about 20 minutes along a fully paved path, making it highly accessible. The area at the bottom is a pristine spot, ideal for photography and enjoying the natural scenery. From the base, the Dangar Falls Lodge can be seen nearby on the left.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Dorrigo area. Its great facilities and accessibility make it a must-see attraction for families, couples, and nature lovers.
The drive there, from the Pacific Highway, offer great views. The walk to the base of the fall, and back, is not hard. There is a viewing platform and toilet accessible for wheelchair.
Cracking spectacle even with a moderate flow. Easy parking. No tickets needed. Viewing platform and walkway down to the falls. 20 minutes walk down and 30 back up. Walkway is not steep except near the falls. Good shoes needed.
A really pretty waterfall very close to the town
There is a walkway to the bottom of the falls which is a little steep and uneven but there were some people in the pool at the bottom of the falls and under the cascade
Others were sitting in the middle of the river above the waterfall
There is also a small labyrinth track and some walking trails to enjoy
There are some explanations of the history on signs which I found interesting
Beautiful little waterfall. When I went there in July, the water was cold. Would be Lovely in summer. There's a small coffee place nearby. The tracks were broken. But we were able to cross it. Hope they fix it soon
