Really cool experience, the mines were stunning! It felt like if you were a gold miner in the 1800s! The ladders at the end of the mine were a bit sketchy, but I was more focused on how amazing everything was! The museum I personally didn't find that interesting, some parts were cool but I really wanted to just move through to the mines. HEADS UP IF YOU GO HERE!! They don't take card! Make sure to bring cash with you, $10 pp... If you forget cash then you have to drive 5 minutes into the hill end town and bank transfer at the "hill end general store" so bring cash! Also there was literally no one there at opening (10:00am)

For my two Minecraft loving son's - they wanted to visit the mine!!! And it didn't dissapoint. The museum is thorough and extensive and really interesting, but the underground mine is a really wonderful experience, we went through three times and climbed the scary exit ladders! Great fun for everyone, no matter your speed or interest.

We recently had the pleasure of experiencing an unexpected surprise visit to History Hill which turned out to be a fascinating journey through Australian and Gold history, even incorporating some Chinese aspects. The museum was a treasure trove of artifacts, exhibits, displays and rooms showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region. The museum also had an extensive collection of gold nuggets, coins, and other artifacts, highlighting the importance of gold in shaping Australia's economy and history. The exhibits provided a fascinating insight into the lives of the prospectors and the impact that the gold rush had on the Australian landscape and economy. The museum had several exhibits that showcased the contributions of the Chinese miners, including their innovative mining techniques and their cultural traditions. It was eye-opening to see how the Chinese culture had influenced the development of the mining industry in Australia, and how they had adapted to life in a new and unfamiliar land. Our unexpected visit to this local museum was an unforgettable experience. I was impressed by the breadth and depth of the exhibits, and the interactive displays made the history come alive. We highly recommend this museum to anyone interested in Australian history, mining, or just looking for a fascinating and educational day out. Although it is looking a bit tired and dated, it is well worth going! But remember TAKE CASH! $10 per adult! But absolutely worth it! Seriously though, take cash. The whole town operates on cash (or gold if you're lucky enough to find it!).

Cash only to get in, just to warn you. But there is an amazing amount of history in there. From old guns, to mining equipment, to old Christening gowns. Plus the mine itself. Definitely recommend, incredible value for the price of entry.

So much history packed into a nicely curated museum. I love reading all the notes the owner left in each display. It likes going back in time. The place is well-maintained and thank you for preserving the history of the area. The 7 ladder climb is so much fun, everyone should give this place a go. Hill End township is lovely with so many kangaroos. Highly recommend for anyone visiting NSW west center.

We recently had the opportunity to visit and we were not disappointed. We were amazed at how many items were held in the Museum and an incredibly affordable entry fee too! Exploring the mine was fascinating and the welcome we received when we arrived was great! It's certainly worth the visit!

Charming little place to get anything to do with honey. Learned about Mead and was surprised to really enjoy the honey beverages, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful. They are very good at upselling! We spent over $200! Definitely worth a visit.

Great place to try and learn more about honey. The woman that helped us was so friendly, happy to chat with my son about his questions on bees. The self serve tasting was so good, we had no idea there were so many favoured honey options. The whole shop was full of all sorts of great products. Very neat and clean. We left with lots of honey and even tried their ice cream which was excellent. This is worth the visit.

They used to have a demonstration of bee hive and honey extraction process which is closed for a while. Besides that’s is just a retail shop now and with higher price tag. You can their honey and have a coffee if you are driving by

Not far from town. What a lovely place. There’s a variety of honey to taste before buying. Lots of varieties to choose from and there’s choc honey comb chocolate for sale as well. Small cafe in the front which sells honey flavoured ice creams. Car park available on site. Highly recommended.

Great shop with so many products related to honey and bees wax. There’s a central honey tasting area, a sample of lotions and scrubs, and a cafe that sells honey flavoured ice creams which were delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful, always asking if you need any help. They’re quite funny too even when having problems with the credit card machines. Made for a nice little shopping trip.

A lovely place with super friendly and knowledgeable staff… you will find alcohols and spirits produced with honey… so unique and memorable experience… you can taste different varieties of honey and test different skin care products made with honey too along with honey mead tastings. we loved the spiced honey mead and bee care exfoliator… you will also get non- alcoholic honey based sparkling drinks… kids loved it… and something different to regular wine tasting experience…

We had such a lovely time at Lowe Family Wines! The picnic hamper was really good and paired perfectly with the wines. Fretta was so nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. The winery itself is absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views, and of course the wine was fantastic. Such a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the day—highly recommend!

We booked a last-minute wine tasting and Deluxe Hamper online, which was super easy. Amelia hosted our tasting and we also spoke with Brian, both were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, we learned so much. We always visit Lowe Family Wines on our getaways to Mudgee and it is fabulous every single time. Our latest visit included a ‘let the chef and winemaker choose’ lunch. So much fun. Such great food and with the winemaker, David Lowe pouring for the long table of around 40, great wine was flowing. Such a great experience in a really beautiful, family owned winery. You can’t help but feel absolute joy! These guys put their heart and soul into what they do and their hospitality is next level. You feel like one of the the family. Love it. A Mudgee must!

A truly amazing place with beauty and character and decades of experience behind the process. David Lowe has incredible vision and is using a sustainable energy approach to his whole production cycle. Visiting was a revelation and a truly immersive experience.

The setting is beautiful, and our fabulous host, Elle, made the visit memorable with her warm, fun, engaging approach and great knowledge of the wines. It was relaxed, informative, and a lovely start to our day in Mudgee. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re exploring the region.

Our favourite winery in Mudgee by far. Lovely views, amazing wines but what brought the experience to another level was the expertise that Brian brought to our wine tasting. Walked out learning so much. Brian did an amazing job describing the wines in scientific but fun way. Came during the week. Would recommend booking ahead as this is not one to miss!

A great place to just relax and enjoy a lovely antipasto platter and a nice glass of wine. I went out and did the Lowe Flow wine tasting with a lovely group of people from Dubbo and had a blast. The sommelier was amazing and very informative on what we were trying.. will definitely be back!

Such an amazing winery with an incredibly talented wine-maker. Well worth a visit. Tony is crafting amazing, bespoke wines using cutting edge wine making techniques resulting in beautifully complex wines that are delicious and special. Very small batch and really just in general an experience not to be missed, especially if you are interested and knowledgable about wine. Phenomenal wines at Short Sheep Micro Winery. Tony’s passion and knowledge shines through with the quality of wines. One of the best tasting experiences in Mudgee. If you can only get to a few cellar doors while in Mudgee, make sure you visit Short Sheep. Don’t be put off by the ‘Micro’ in name - it means care and quality in the wine making.

Wow I have no words to describe this place. Tony owns and runs this place and he is just so lovely. We did a tasting with complimentary food pairing and it was beyond our imagination. I've tried wines from all over Australia (literally) and this place was spectacular. Thank you Tony for introducing an avid red wine drinker to Chardonnay. I can't wait for my next wine delivery!!

Ah, this may be a micro winery but it is macro on everything else - from Tony's wonderfully engaging ability as a storyteller to his passion for his craft and discipline to let nature do its thing and of course, the wines - complex and delicious! We learnt so much about the various processes during our tasting but weren't overwhelmed with detail - the wines themselves shone. The reds in particular and those that had undergone wild fermentation were a delight for the palette. This place is absolutely worth a stop - do it!

A great little boutique winery, run by welcoming hosts offering a nice casual setting for wine tasting. They don't charge for the tastings, but you'll be sure to walk away with a few bottles. Really enjoyed their vermentino and rosés. It's small, quaint and cosy. Worth a stop to support an honest hard working small batch winery.

Fabulous wine tasting. Some different grape varieties i hadn't had in a long time and really enjoyed them. Staff friendly and knowledgeable and they tailored my wine tasting to me and wines I was interested in trying. Bought several wines. The cheese board was delicious. Was noisy with a large group in there but once they left it was very pleasant. Stunning views highly recommend. If you love your wines and Interested in the opportunity to taste some different varieties this is for you. They still have the good old staples and they are done beautifully. So glad we popped in.

A good spot to start your wine tasting weekend as you arrive in Mudgee. Logan has beautiful views, friendly and fun staff, and yummy wine. Their Riesling is amazing.

A pleasant place to come with your guests. The view on the vineyard is breathtaking and the interior looks crisp and modern. Overall it is a clean nice winery. The wines are quite decent, the cheese platter is generous, the staff is cheerful and caring - good ingredients for a nice time.

This is one of the wineries that is a must when visiting Mudgee. It's not far, but their wines are always delicious, with a wine tasting that is very insightful, educational and led by truly passionate owners. The wines are just excellent. The setting is beautiful, with outdoor seating available to enjoy the surroundings with a good bottle of wine.

What an amazing winery with a truly unique offering - French style wines made from grapes grown in soil that is similar to French wine regions’ soils (limestone). We opted for the Vouage Du Vin experience which was hosted by the owner Richard and what an amazing experience that was! We tasted about 10 wines, including many reserve wines, and learned so much about terroir, wine making, grape varieties, etc. You have an option to order a cheese or charcuterie board with your tasting, which we highly recommend as it brings out so many different flavours in the wine. Besides, French wine is meant to be had with food. The winery itself is located in a very picturesque location away from the buzz of Mudgee and is perfect if you are looking to enjoy your wine in an idyllic, picture perfect location.

We have gotten our wine club order, always exciting to see what the wines taste like. We ordered some Viognier, OMG, amazing, very floral with a beautiful mouthfeel, it’s a 2024. Very well balanced. I wish I’d ordered more. Beware though, it’s a 14.1% alcohol content. Another favourite is the Rose. Actually, we’ve enjoyed all the wines from here, very consistent. We’ve been travelling for 20 months, we’ve experienced wine regions from all over Australia and this Winery continues to impress us every delivery we get. Can’t wait for the next delivery. (I’m on top of changing our addresses to make sure we don’t miss out). 😁🍾🥂

What a fabulous afternoon we had at the spectacular De Beaureapaire Wines! Such a stunning setting and fabulous hosts so generous with their time and knowledge of their beautiful wines! Highly recommend if you are travelling the road less travelled through the gorgeous village of Rylstone - well worth a visit!

A couple of years ago, Jeannette gave us an amazing introduction to French-style wines — educational and thoroughly enjoyable. This time, I brought new friends along and had the pleasure of hearing Richard share the rich story behind the winery. Such a special experience! Highly recommend a visit — especially for those who think they’re not into red wine. This is definitely the place to start. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Very very nice family owned vineyard. I would say I had an amazing wine tasting experience here. The wine is superb, the staff and owners gave us really good introduction to the vineyard and the wine. The place and wine is very frenchy, elegant and relaxing❤️

Chose to spend a day in Rylstone and was not disappointed! Popped into De Beaurepaire Winery for first time. Received first class service from Gabrielle. To our delight the owner of the vineyard paid us personal attention by sitting with us and explaining both the history of the winery and its processes. Highly recommend a day trip to Rylstone and don’t forget to book a visit to this intimate winery.

Nice NP to enjoy some downtime without crowds even on a holiday weekend. Camping needs self sufficiency. There are toilets only at the official camp grounds. Needs AWD and good growth clearance to get in and out and there are a few rivers to wade. Downsides are the minority of people hooning around damaging the tracks, and leaving litter, esp. toilet paper near camp sites and river. Access some interesting 4WD tracks from here.

A beautiful national park to visit. Two main campgrounds which can be booked online. The diggings campground has a drop toilet. No other amenities available. Requires you to be self sufficient (bring your own water) and take your rubbish out. Requires a 4wd for access. Other side of national park enters Sunny corner state forest and the landmark known as the Pinnacle.

Turon River National Park is a fabulous destination for adventurers with an offroad 4wd vehicle. Your regular car won't make it so bring your truck for this destination. There are abundant secluded camping sites and lots of gold mining history too. Ammenities included picnic tables, fire rings and drop toilets. The river flows clean and clear and good deep swimming holes can be found. Bring the whole family for a camping adventure they will remember.

This is the place for a great escape from the city hustle and bustle. It seems like a million miles away but it is a leisurely couple of hours drive. There are designated camping areas within the National Park and there is a selection of accommodation choices from Turon Gates eco stay. They have lots of isolated cabins that can accommodate a variety of numbers of people as well as 'glamping' if that is what you prefer. Picnic areas down by the Turon River are idyllic. All in all it is well worth the visit.

This is a must for any serious camper or offroader. This has plenty of campsites with quite a few of them have an area ready for a fire. There are beautiful views of the Turon rivers and plenty of sight seeing and photo opportunities. This is a free camp spot with a toilet. Also, if you need supplies it is only a short drive to Capertee for fuel, food and much more

Near Lithgow, 185km west of Sydney, Turon National Park is great for remote bushwalking and camping, trout fishing, birdwatching, swimming, mountain biking or canoeing.

Stunning walk however not small child friendly in many places. I had my child in a carrier and struggled climbing some sections.

A great spot to spend the day strolling along the marked walking tracks. The drive into the parking area is not too bad but caution is needed if your car has low clearance. There are solid fuel BBQ's here but no wood supplied for there use.

I must say we had a creepy feeling driving into here and weren't fit enough to walk far along the track. I was very disappointed.

Great little spot for an explore … don’t let a rainy/drizzly day put you off cos being in the gully, amongst the ferns as the water trickled down the walls and low flow streams wandered amongst the rocks really made it! Really worthwhile walk with the odd rock to hop or fallen tree to climb over so need to be ready and able for that - kids of all ages would love it as would most active walkers. Excellent views from the top as well to show the gully from above … and plan for a stop in Rylstone after … although we didn’t pick a good moment midweek to get a mid-afternoon coffee … Go explore though!

Amazing walk through a shady fern covered gorge, followed by a board walk swampy area then another valley floor - all quite unusual & would not be out of place in a hobbit movie - then a long climb on the stairs before rounding the bend to a much drier climate & rocky surrounds for amazing views of the valley below. Definitely worth the trip!

Magical mystical beautiful Aboriginal Wiradjuri Country Dabee Tribe A number of reasonably easy beautiful walks. The rock formations are stunning. Great for kayaking. Camping booking is required in holiday time in warmer months. Check the park website.

You apparently cannot get in there without the guided tour. We drove all the way out to it because everywhere it says it is “recommended” to get the tour, but apparently it is required, as the road is completely closed. They wrote a sign with who to contact for the tour but there is no mobile coverage at all so it is impossible to call anyone. I just wish you were allowed in there somehow when it is not Saturday.

An important part of Australia's oil shale history. My wife and I took the tour on the 20/2/2021and found it to be very informative. Our friendly tour guide Graeme meet us at the gates a bit before 5pm on the Saturday evening. We were joined by another couple joining the tour before driving through the gates and following our guide to the original levee bank surrounding the site of the refinery. Graeme talked about the creation of the oil shale and other geological features of the valley before we walked down the road to the remains of the refinery gates. As we continued along the concrete driveway we stopped at different locations and were given detailed descriptions of each section of the site along with some history relating to each of the areas. This is a tour I would recommend to anybody. It has so much to offer with stunning views of towering sandstone cliffs surrounding the refinery runes, wildlife of all descriptions and with the afternoon light the opportunity to capture some great photographic images. I also purchased the Glen Davis hard cover book from our guide at the end of the tour which is loaded with information and wonderful images of the past. I would recommend ringing ahead and confirming you interest in a tour. This way if you are running a little late you won't miss out as you will be expected. Beautiful quiet winery. Amazing view and we could have stayed for hours. Served by Gretel who was personable and knowledgeable. Had a great chat from horse racing to nuclear power plants. Had the tasting and cheese platter. My personal favourite drop was the Winters Mist Merlot. $22 a bottle. Very reasonably priced.

We came across this winery unexpectedly during a road trip and were so impressed with the hospitality and service that we made sure to visit again on our way back home. We were thee wine novices that weren’t made to feel at all bad about our lack of wine knowledge and the wonderful hostess at the time patiently answered our questions and explained to us what we were tasting without making us feel inferior at all. As a result we all bought a couple of bottles of wine each and made sure to come back on our return trip to sample the cheese platter while sitting on their beautiful verandah enjoying the view over part of the vineyard. We will definitely visit again next time we are road tripping.

We were pleased to share this winery with our good friends. The wonderful Rivka effortlessly guided us through the tasting of these lovely wines, while we enjoyed a generous antipasto platter. We spent the afternoon appreciating the view along with the range of Two Rivers wines. Across our party we walked away with 2 dozen wines and great memories. We will be back again,

I was gifted 2 bottles of olive oil ( 1 x garlic 1 x chilli ) from Ford Muswellbrook when we picked up my husbands new car…. I have spent my entire life using woolies brand olive oil and will NEVER go back. I have just ordered my 2nd 2L bottle of olive oil and tried multiple smaller bottles of other flavours. Such brilliant quality and has changed my kitchen. Love a good local product!!!

Called in today could not fault it. The most welcoming friendly staff, clean facilities, had a picnic lunch relaxing in their outdoor area listening to the soft rustle of the leaves in the Olive trees. Purchased the most delicious variety of oils, dukka, mayonnaise, vinegar and skin care products.

We saw that this venue was highly recommended so called in whilst staying at Muswellbrook and were not disappointed. I am interested in various aspects of cultivation generally and found that most of my questions were answered informatively. The staff member who served us is a person who obviously had a passion and interest of her own for the products and so could speak from both personal experience and from the perspective of the production company as well. The shop has a wide variety of olive oils with a range of infusions, and most of these were richly flavoured whilst not overpowering the base olive product. Likewise, the vinegars were richly flavoured varying from fruity infusions to the more standard products one would expect to find. Other products such as farm-made Dukkahs were available and we were shown how to match the olive flavours to the particular Dukkahs. On the whole, this was a great educational as well as palate-pleasing experience. As someone else has mentioned, the prices were not cheap, but then neither was the quality!

I have visited Pukara Estate a few times now including their tasting room at Denman in the Hunter Valley and also at the various fine food shows. I must say their products always taste the same which is wonderful. Their cook book is full of ways to use their fresh extra virgin olive oil with fresh, clean food experience. 5 star!

Upon arrival was greeted by the most lovely lady who was very patient as we tried oils after oils and vinegar's after vinegar's. Bought 7 bottles and will be ordering more online as i could eat the caramelised vinegar all day!

One of the best horse riding experiences I've had! Are you an adult who is envious of the horse handling and horsemanship classes broadly available to kids?? - well look no further because this will give you everything you need through an adult lens. I learnt so much from the lovely staff and the horses were wonderful - responsive and gentle. Oh and the valley itself is gorgeous to ride through. I will definitely be back!

I've just come off the back of the most amazing horse camp experience at Chapman Valley Horse Riding and I only wish that I had come out to experience the trail riding and mustering sooner than I have. Chapman's has been hands down the best trail riding experience that I've had in Australia, it is so worth the trip and realistically is not that far from either Sydney, Central Coast or Newcastle. They've got camping sites across the whole property so go and stay the night out there - it's worth it. The horse camp was everything and more and my inner child is so fulfilled now. I'm one step further on my horse knowledge journey and the entire Chapman Valley team contributed to that. They're all such beautiful genuine horse loving people. They match a gorgeous horse to your riding ability and depending on that there's lots of trotting and cantering available and of course the most amazing walking through beautiful trails across their 6000 acres. It's not like a boring walk trail ride nose to bum situation at all. I would definitely recommend the horse camps, mustering, trail riding no matter what you're ability is the Chapman Valley Horse Riding team is there to support. I'm excited to head out there again already.

Absolutely loved chapman valley horse riding! I have tried a fair few trail riding places across NSW and these guys are by far the best! Every worker was kind, fun and absolutely loved their jobs- we were never made to feel like we knew nothing! Property is absolutely gorgeous and very large and the horses are so loved and carefully picked for each rider. Will be coming back!

I've just returned home after a truly wonderful weekend at Chapman Valley. I joined the adult riding camp (up to 6 riders) and we were joined by 2 wonderful guides. The guides were so supportive and encouraging which I needed as a beginner. It exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning for another weekend soon.

I just come back from the 3 Day cattle muster and i cant begin to explain what an incredible experience it was, from the Drovers quarters we stayed in to the food provided was not only absolutely delicious but the amount of food we had and the variety was great!! Peta, Sandra and Ana our guides were just the best not only with their knowledge but were just beautiful people and made the experience just awesome! OMG, SIX STARS! I was travelling through and, after a particularly trying 24 hours, needed some medicinal cheese. I had the three cheese platter and chose my cheese. Amazing! Lexie served me and was absolutely delightful. I really didn't need anything else but, after a tasting, managed to squeeze in some gelato. The coffee was lovely, too. They have excellent outdoor seating, which curves around the building, so you have the opportunity for a quiet spot on week days. They are also pet friendly. You could spend hours looking at the items for sale. I will definitely be back, and I'll be having the five cheese platter.

We stopped at the Cafe on our way to Newcastle and had some afternoon tea. The Cheese tasting plate with 5 different cheese , biscuits and dip was plenty and really yum. It was enough for 3 adults. Coffee was really nice and the shop/cafe is very well done with beautiful seating and lots of little gifts to purchase as well as a selection of yummy cakes.

We found the cheese tasting experience really great and picked 2 of our favs to take with us. The lady was knowledgeable and helpful, which was fantastic. We ordered a pizza to share, and rightly so, it was very cheesy!! The shop has wonderful treats available for purchase - both sweet and savory and non food gift items. We enjoyed our time here and highly recommend

This was the highlight of our winter day trip to Musswellbrook. We wandered in, obviously looking slightly lost, to be greeted by the lovely Lexie, who explained how it all worked, reserved a table for us for lunch, then organised a cheese tasting. While the cheeses were delicious, the best part was Lexie’s enthusiasm, knowledge and passion for the product. We left happily fed & with enough cheesy goodness for many enjoyable feasts. Thank you for making it so enjoyable!

Charming little Cafe. I had a cheese plate with my choice of 3 locally made cheeses. Beautifully presented and tasted lovely. The Cafe itself has wonderfully crafted furniture pieces and antique decor. A perfect little spot to stop on your travels and enjoy something different.

Great place to stop for lunch. All our meals were delicious and fresh. The lamb was perfectly cooked and melt in your mouth. The lady who served us mentioned it's a new seasonal menu so go and try it! We bought some fudge to take home and can also recommend. We hope to be back again soon.

This place is INCREDIBLE! 😍 Had the best beef salad of my life, delicious mud cake for dessert and brought home some fresh goodies for the family - some of the best cheese I have ever tried. This cafe is a MUST when in the area. Super efficient service and lovely staff as well 👏🏼

A lovely spot to settle in for a comprehensive tasting and cheese platter. The leather couches in front of the fire were perfect for our group, but a sunny day on the veranda would also have been fantastic. Professional, friendly, relaxed service, and great views over the vines.

We have just left the winery and just wanted to post how lovely the host was behind the bar. We forgot her name unfortunately but the charming beautiful Kiwi lady who spent some time with us was so charming explaining the 7 different tastings. We’d been to previous winery’s that morning but felt totally comfortable and relaxed in her company. My reviews are extremely genuine, honest and sincere. Beautiful cellar door with a spring day wedding vibe. Friendly greeting and informative tasting - the fully experience. A winery with a point of difference, adopting Portuguese grapes and flavours into a Aussie setting. The sparkling shiraz is rave worthy, my new favourite. I also brought a tawny for my husband which he finished within the week - this must be the first port he’s finished and he’s asking for more! I look forward to returning.

What a fantastic little find, we went a little out of town away from the big commercial wineries and found this sweet little friendly winery and olive grove. The wines were lovely and all grown on site. They paired well with the olives and olive oil tasting. Our host Mitch was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The views were beautiful, through the vinyard to the mountains. Highly recommend.

Located in the quaint regional town of Singleton is the largest sundial in the southern hemisphere. A must for all looking to explore the charms of regional Australia.

Worth a visit. And it's accurate. Checked against iPhone clock. Most certainly a marvel of engineering science. Free to visit.

Kinda cool.... to be honest I didn't realise it was a giant sundial and I think I only pulled over to answer a call on my phone.

Architecturally pleasing, very large in diameter and height, not the typical form you would expect from a sundial.

Once the BIGGEST BIG Sundials in the world but now it is still the BIGGEST BIG Sundial in the southern hemisphere and it is accurate !! A lovely sculpture, plenty of parking.

We visited the winery 4 years ago and had a great time. Lovely location and intimate setting. We opened a sémillon bottle tonight and it was even more delicious than when we first had it. We definitely should come back!

Beautiful outdoors, fantastic countryside views from wherever you look. Very excited to find the square Wombat poo too! We loved having Cooper coming to visit even though he jumped on our bed with filthy paws 🐾 The cabin was pretty well equipped, needed a good clean, I am allergic to dust and needed my puffer a lot. Sadly the bath is unusable, very dirty and peeling. Shower is great though. Plenty of clean towels. Hard to use the loo as it is made for men of 6'5" plus tall, but that is all part of the fun and we had a little step in the boot of our car, luckily 😉. Peter and Jane are really lovely, helpful hosts and very knowledgeable about everything you want to know. We very much enjoyed their cellar door too. I would suggest to bring your own pillows. Maybe I am too fussy, was expecting a little more from a 4 to 5 star place. Still, you should stay for the beautiful surroundings and it is fantastic for dog owners. (As long as they have good recall) It really would be fantastic if there were sunloungers or hammocks to take advantage of being outside of this delightful cabin.

Came here to do a wine tasting with my friends while we were camping close by. Highly recommend! Love how intimate the session were, we got to hear lots about their wines and stories about their winery. Their adorable pup Cooper also joined us, was definitely one of my best wine tasting experiences.

Peter and Jane have such warm hearts and are extremely kind natured. They are tentative with their service, generous with their tastings and their wines are simply divine. This was our second visit and we will most certainly be back! Thank your for making our engagement so special🤍

Not like other wineries, in a good way! Such a uniquely intimate and personalised experience, the couple here are so friendly and let you really embrace their lovely property. The wines are all as natural as can be and you can taste the difference. Would recommend!!

Peter couldn't have been nicer. I was held up and my wife and him spoke for ages before I arrived. Loved the wines, the scenery and the company. We even had some kangaroos chilling by the Vines. Would recommend stopping off and visiting well worth the trip!

Went in to stretch our legs during a long and rainy drive. The lady working here was fantastic, invited us to go into the free gallery then sent us of with some extra information, booklets and dinner recommendations.

Toilets. What else would you need after a few hours in the car. No need to spend up just have an empty and be on your way. I presume there's some interesting info in the visitor centre. Hopefully, we will one day have high tech cameras that can capture the beauty of the orange pigface. Isn't the human eye an incredible sensor? These orange pigface are not at the visitors centre. Anyhow you've had something to read whilst you have a dump.

A driver's drive, beautiful road, and best to have both hands on the steering...for the majority of the drive😉. Wolombi is a beautiful, quaint little village, unspoilt and extremely friendly people. Awesome general store, church, great museum, wonderful art gallery showcasing original work with a rich aboriginal history - stop by and say hello to Lynn, lovely lady with a genuine passion for the arts. You'll find her sat in the gallery working on beautiful painting! Awesome place to spend a weekend or an ideal stop before delving into wine country!

It was awesome... We have been traveling to hunter valley from last 5 years but never took this route... We loved it... No traffic.... Just that you will have to be aware as there are lot of biked in this route.. So be careful while driving.... It's a very scenic route and you will come across lot of small beautiful towns and Cafe..

I wonder what the hype is all about for this drive. It's just another quiet country road. Nothing (except the tavern) was open at 4 pm by the time we arrived at Wollombi. We went in search of a cup of coffee but couldn't find any. Really, it's nothing to shout about, so don't raise your expectations too high from all the 5* reviews.

Heritage town with unique boutique shops. The area has plenty of places to pull over and stretch the legs. Toilet facilities are located in the park with soap and paper towel.

Tourist Drive 33, Sydney to Hunter Valley Great alternative to driving up the highway is to take Tourist Drive 33 through some really nice farmland and towns. There are a few places to stop such as Thompsons Bridge, Trading Post (for coffee or a drink in the rustic terrace, then just walk around), then there is the town of Wollombi, where you have a variety of cafes, a pub (where they were playing 2-up on Anzac Day), and restaurants including Myrtle & Stone which has a good selection of meals and great service, with 2 wrap around balconies and garden terrace out back. #TouristDrive33 #MyrtleandStone

The view at Audrey Wilkinson is absolutely stunning, with one of the best vineyard outlooks in the Hunter Valley. It’s the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The wines are of good quality, especially the Semillon and Shiraz, which showcase the character of the region very well. However, the service was just average. While everything went smoothly, it lacked the warmth and attentiveness that would have made the experience truly exceptional. Overall, it’s still a great place to visit for the atmosphere and wine, but the service could be improved to match the high quality of the setting.

We had a wonderful wine tasting experience here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming—despite us arriving without a reservation, they kindly offered to seat us. The semillon was especially good, and the staff were extremely generous, offering us more than the standard tasting. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

Absolutely beautiful place! Went with my husband on a group tour of Hunter valley in May 2025. Such a stunning location and loved trying different flavoured wines. I am not a big wine drinker but have a big appreciation for this winery. Lovely spot to visit with your partner, friends and family 😊.

It's a wonderful place to unwind and take in the surroundings. The scenery offers a peaceful escape from the everyday hustle. Sipping on a refreshing drink here would be the perfect way to end the day. The atmosphere is ideal for relaxation and enjoyable conversations. Visiting here is surely a great experience.

Everything will demonstrated and of course with free wine testing facilities in a cosy friendly environment.. One can then buy as many.. There are multiple wine companies with good portfolio across the vast land of Hunter Valley gardens.. Comprising of multiple best quality gardens or more appropriately vineyards and wine tasting restaurants..n facilities.. People making and offering wine are highly experienced, friendly and always trying to explain and help choose the best quality and the type one is looking for.. Many souvenirs are also available.. It is a day long wonderful experience taking a few hours only

Located at 2090 Broke Road, Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 I came to these gardens with my group of approximately 35 people, including people with walkers, to see the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular. It was well worth the visit. I absolutely loved it. For the most part, it is accessible for people with mobility issues but there are steps situated around the displays meaning backtracking was required in some instances. Not many though. There’s a couple of toilet 🚻 facilities located at the entrance and about half way through. There’s food vans near the Ferris wheel but they were closed when we went (about 8.30pm) . The amount of work and preparation that had to go into the displays is astounding. So many figurines lighted up. I really enjoyed my visit and took so many photos so remember to bring your camera and make sure to charge your battery in phone because there’s plenty of photo opportunities. Night Entrance (best for this Spectacular to get the full effects fees are - Adults (16+ years) $40.00 Children 4-15 years) - $30.00 Families (2 Adults, 2 Children) - $122.00 There’s always plenty to see during the day also. I would definitely recommend coming here, at least once. A BIG Thumbs up! 👍👍👍

Beautiful well kept gardens of many themes. Well worth the admission price. Extremely picturesque. Great for photo shoots. Great for exploring and enjoying the views and beauty of curated nature.

The gardens were an absolute blast, with so much to explore. Walking through the various themed areas, I felt like I was in a fairytale. The lights display at night was a mesmerizing experience. I definitely took a lot of photos to remember this fantastic trip.

Good venue , about a 5 to 10min walk to where the car was parked because there was heaps of people there. I reckon about 40,000. The concert was really good. The best Act was Vica and Linda Bulla with the guy from hunters and collectors , they also had the church band , and another brother and sister Act , and the last Act was crowded house. Venue was good. We went to the mosh pit at the first band on which was great. We're really close to the stage and it wasn't too crowded but as the afternoon went on it got more and more crowded in the mosh bit and there was a bit more push and shove. Still a great day out and I would recommend it. Certainly if you want to watch some bands and have a good time. Five stars.

Attended my beautiful friends wedding here! What a gorgeous location for such an event! The gardens are truly breathtaking. So many colours, smells and vibes!

HVG is such a great spot to spend time - great cafe, beautiful setting and fun shops. The Christmas Lights spectacular is on again and its beautiful for 2025! Lights were gorgeous even at 6pm when we got there for younger kids (all the growth in the garden makes patches dark enough to see them). Well worth a day out.

Just had lunch and a wine tasting with my girlfriend there. Lovely evening with great food and drinks. But most of all the service was the best out of all the wineries we visited in the hunter valley. We were served by Taylor all evening. She was very accommodating and very bubbly. We were both impressed by her service. Highly recommend anyone coming here if you stay in the hunter valley

Had a wonderful lunch at Harkham Wines Restaurant – absolutely divine! We enjoyed the tacos and salt & pepper squid, and every bite was packed with flavour. Tried the Hark Angel Shiraz from their natural wine selection and it was just lovely. The service was outstanding – warm smiles, friendly and informative staff who really looked after us. This place is definitely on our must-visit-again list!

Came for dinner on our first night in the Hunter, and this was the perfect welcome. Excellent food that seemed to be designed around the wines so the pairings were excellent. We loved it so much we came back the next day for the tasting and were lucky enough to be guided though it with Richie, the winemaker. Would recommend Harkham for food and wine!

Satisfied group of five! We were looking for a relaxed atmosphere with wine tasting and a bite to eat. We were greeted with warmness, and nothing was a bother. We tasted numerous wines and enjoyed amazing food (prawns, lamb, chicken, aranchini...the lust goes on). Beautiful atmosphere, even better chocolate liqueur! Very happy. Thank you ❤️

The food was great, but the manager was extremely arrogant and condescending. Coming from a hospitality background myself, I was genuinely shocked by his attitude and lack of customer service. From the moment we walked in, he made offhand comments about how “people in the Hunter need to calm down,” which immediately set the tone. They had run out of several menu items, and when we ordered Tommy’s margaritas, they arrived overly smoked with mezcal, watery, and without salt. When we mentioned this, the manager refused to remake them in the traditional style and responded with passive-aggressive comments about how he “knew best.” Throughout our meal, tables around us remained cluttered with empty plates, and the music, loud metal, felt completely out of place for the setting. Overall it was a disappointing experience, despite the food being great and our waitress doing her best.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience at Petersons House restaurant! From start to finish, everything was flawless. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful meal. The service was impeccable, and the food was simply exceptional. The lamb rack was to die for—perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavour. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and exceeded expectations. The whole dining experience was such a pleasure and the deconstructed lemon meringue was nothing short of sensational – the perfect finish to an amazing meal. Our grandchildren were also so well catered for and entertained with the activity book waiting for them at the table on arrival, which made the experience even more special. Petersons House is a true gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning!

Our experience at Restaurant Cuvée was delightful! Warm welcoming hosts and wonderful setting under the trees looking across the vines. We were treated to a yummy lunch of zucchini flowers, fresh sourdough, lamb rack and rocket salad. Indulgent and great food! Complimented with great bubbles and followed up with a shared dessert of pavlova and exquisite Davidson plum ice cream! Kim was our waiter and she was so lovely. The perfect combination of friendly conversation and professional service. Kim enhanced our experience and was so nice to both of us and our dog, Betty. Highly recommend a long lunch here !!!

Had a large group for a birthday lunch, the venue were very attentive and accommodating with any requests. Had the group set menu choices, the food was very good and the service excellent, I had the beef which was delicious and perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed the sauce

Peterson House is an absolute dream to shoot! I love that I can get ceremony shots inside and then change up the lighting with the sandstone chapel outside all in one place. The lighting inside the chapel is pure magic! The team is always fantastic too. Here are a few photos from my last wedding there so you can see what I mean!

Came in October over the long weekend and it was an absolute treat! Emma was absolutely phenomenal and recommended great wines! I will absolutely be coming back here again! Emma is an absolute gem!! You will definitely have an amazing time and great if you come. The sparkling Shiraz is a highlight along with the muscat.

The Vineyard was very pretty and the guide was very very informative. I have taken tours of many Vineyards and wineries around the world, and this guide really knew her enology and viticulture. It would’ve been a wonderful tour and tasting, except for the fact that at the end she was making fun of one of the wines that we actually wanted to bring home. Which made things a little awkward. It was one of the sweet wines, and I usually love a big red Cabernet, and lived near the California wine region for many years, and was accustomed to California wines, but have grown a fondness for other regional wines, including Australia, and was really enjoying some of their Pinots, but also some of the sweeter wines which are really not offered much in California vineyards. And so we were looking forward to bringing some of the sweeter wines back, and it was really offputting that the guide was sort of making fun of them, because then we felt really odd buying them. Spoiler alert: we bought them anyway! But she made us feel like a little bit of a dummy that we wanted to buy them. I know that a more sophisticated palate would’ve bought some of the other wines, but that’s not what we wanted.

Always a pleasure to visit this boutique winery. Even the local Roos came out to say hi and lounge in the sun amongst the vines. Excellent wines, friendly and knowledgeable team…. Always welcoming to me and my furry companion Thanks guys, looking forward to catching up again soon

I visited the Hunter Valley for the first time recently and did a wine tasting at Ernest Hill Wines with the lovely Lesley. The wine was incredible (I am so disappointed I didn't grab more to bring back to Adelaide 😔) and Lesley was so incredibly friendly, welcoming, passionate and knowledgeable! If I could give this experience more than 5 stars I would! Thank you so much Lesley for making my visit to Ernest Hill so memorable 🥂🍇🥰

We had a great wine tasting with Leslie in the Hunter Valley. She was friendly, easy to chat with, and really knew her stuff without making it feel formal or rushed. Leslie explained each wine clearly and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does. Would definitely recommend booking a tasting with her if you’re in the area.

We loved hearing about the family history behind the wine names — such a personal touch. The kangaroos were fascinating to see, and it was interesting to learn how they pose unique challenges for winemaking (definitely not something we deal with in the States!). The winery has a calm, homey, and welcoming vibe that made the visit especially enjoyable. While the dessert wines stood out to us, it was really the overall atmosphere that made this experience so memorable.

Not a wine fan, on my first wine tour! The guys at Ernest Hill were very welcoming and happy to answer a load of questions. The wines on offer we really nice, and each served woth some more education about wine tasting. Would happily go back to sample more and hopefully buy a bottle or two.

Had an incredible wine tasting today with Leslie! A beautiful small winery with an air conditioned option for tastings. Leslie was so funny, kind and knowledgeable. Would recommend this to anyone coming to the Hunter for a tasting :)

we drove a little way to this big area with a few million trees and a few roads running through it. dunno why people r worried about global warming, i think we have lots of trees the road is bumpy. it has rocks on it. the light was soooo pretty tho. looks like one of those made up photoshop photo that people fake. like i was overdosing on prettiness. love how pretty it was. would be so cool for like photoshoots n stuff, we ate good food too. probably easy to get lost tho. dont get lost. the goannas might eat u. yum yum. dont get kidnapped. whe it get dark i can imagine u could get kidnapped. so jus dont be a kid and u wont get kidnapped. good for a fire.

Great little day trip with a variety of camping spots Easy walk to the waterfall. Heaps of cool look outs that are relaxing and have great aspects over Lake Macquarie Highly recommend as a quick weekend adventure.

Super relaxing and lovely forest 🌳 Full of different trees, plants, insects and more. Lovely place to go for a walk and listen the cicadas and waterfall. Is a bit complicated to go down the waterfall so is a track full of trees in the middle and big stones. Ideal for meditation or yoga if you like it and also was some people doing some climbing with a rope there too.

Beautiful place, going to the Falls is a must visit. You will love this place after visiting the Falls and spending some time there. You won't really be able to swim as the water is shallow. The path to reach the Falls will take about 45 min but worth the pain. NO PAIN NO GAIN. Amazing Australian forest. Make sure to bring some mosquitos repelent b3cause you will definitely need one. Very humid environment. If you go down the waterfall treck you will have a refreshing reward at the end.

A relatively off the beaten path feel for National Park close to suburbia. Would be good for 4WD (mostly dirt roads) and mountain biking. Did a short loop walk through the rainforest which was good.

If you can visit on a weekday - it's alot quieter. Beautiful forest areas, some with fern lined roads. Lots of beautiful bird calls. Mostly need an AWD for access as there's often lots of potholes and some are quite deep. Wouldn't recommend a sedan in most parts. If a road says unmaintained - it is only for the seasoned 4WD drivers. Must take own food, water & drinks. Take away your own rubbish. Remember insect repellant & be prepared for leeches in damp areas. Be sure to check your maps before entering the park as there may be no service in some areas.

This is such a great gallery with really interesting and diverse spaces. We came at a great time with three beautiful exhibitions on. The volunteers were helpful, engaging and seemed very passionate and knowledgeable about the exhibits.

A wonderful experience visiting MR AG. Like that, so artistic! It's beautiful space which also highlights many local artists. Most of the exhibits are very unique in expression. There is a restaurant inside the Maitland Regional Art Gallery is called Séraphine Café.

Great exhibit at the moment “Twitcher”… just delightful. A lovely cafe, a lift to get upstairs, a spacious gallery and friendly staff. Gift shop has some beautiful things too. Free parking out back.

Fantastic sights and sounds for all exhibitions on a wide range of topics. I am a Twitcher! I could have sat all day watching the birds in flight loop! The tiny art was very clever and I don't think we found them all. Will be back.

The MRAG is as rich in its display as it is with warm accommodating staff. I was welcomed by Ms Belinda and gave me information about the current exhibits and how to go about my way around the galleries. The collections were all dazzling and amazing. I loved the Portraits the most as well as the miniature displays. I definitely would visit again every time I come to Maitland. Inspiring and entertaining!

Fantastic gallery to visit! My kids always enjoy exploring. Every time we have visited we have had somebody amazing and friendly to greet us and explain the exhibits and activities for the kids - the staff are knowledgable, kind, respectful of kids and adults

Fantastic experience and was a great morning out. We just did the self guided tour and enjoyed the observations and stories about previous employees. Very interesting history and easy to navigate. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Only suggestion I have for visitors is probably leave the younger kids at home! My older two (7 & 5) enjoyed it but the 3 year old got bored quickly.

Fascinating and confronting - the prison is in an excellent state of preservation and the various eras are well represented in the surviving buildings. The stories from inmates and guards range from sad to spine chilling. An important relic of Australian history preserved for everyone to visit.

What a waste of money. We did the night tour. Young children crying and wanting to leave. People with torches in your face. Nothing too exciting or interesting. People filming for a paranormal experience with fake noises in the background.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Crimes of Passion’ night tour. Our knowledgable and charismatic guide, Robyn and her storytelling ability made it an immersive and memorable experience. We’d recommend this tour and a visit to Maitland Gaol, and will be sure to return :)

This was a mix between serious ghost hunt and theatrical horror house. The atmosphere at night is amazingly solemn and creepy. We were told some interesting history on the tour. I wish I had done a little more research into the history before the tour so that I could have put myself into the experience more.

I have quite a fascination with jails so this of course was a must visit. I did the self guided tour and throughly enjoyed walking around listening to the stories while checking the place out. Highly recommend visiting to anyone considering it.

Was an awesome experience, highly recommended. Will definitely go back to do one of the other tours they offer.
