Forest Glade Gardens

Mentioned on

Garden
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the Macedon Ranges, Forest Glade Gardens is a picturesque and diverse garden featuring English, Italian, and Japanese influences. The lush grounds are adorned with rare plants, water features, and sculptures. Visitors can explore various themed garden rooms and enjoy the serene woodland area and fern gully. While there are hills and steps throughout the gardens, it's a lovely spot for a leisurely stroll or a romantic outing.
A beautiful private garden. Lots of area to explore, but you could comfortably see the majority of the gardens in 1.5hrs. Certain back areas are steep, the small children (under 6yo) walking these did not seem to have a good time. Gardens are lovely for a picnic. Limited parking close by, there is a free shuttle from the town close by, but it is only a 15-20min walk for those who are keen.
Sarah J — Google review
I went to Forest Glade Garden in the fall, saw beautiful autumn trees and many different types of trees with brilliant colours, the fresh air was magical, the diverse themed gardens, the sculptures and natural beauty, walking around the beautiful garden with many colors was wonderful. The colourful Japanese maple trees and many works of art created a charming beauty for the garden. When I came here, I spent a few hours walking around to explore, here each different season the area will have different beauty, especially the autumn with full of colours. Highly recommended 😊
Sophia B — Google review
Beautiful gardens to stroll, live all the different areas, especially fern gully, lots of steps but so worth it. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Be aware there is nothing to buy there but you can take your own.
Susan H — Google review
A wonderful destination for a family outing. The gardens are beautifully maintained and vibrant in September. A perfect spot to enjoy nature and take a peaceful stroll. It’s a paid entry $15 for Adults and free for kids
Anesh K — Google review
Beautiful beautifulllll place. Could easily spend hours here during spring. Requires a lot of walking - sometimes up and down hill but definitely worth it
Priya T — Google review
This garden is exceptional and all the parts are worth visiting, especially the fern gully, if you can make it down all the stairs! It is a great and relaxing view. The garden is filled with beautiful plants and flowers. The garden everyday is worth the visit no matter the season except when it’s raining, if it is though the staff are more than happy to give you an umbrella. I want to give a shoutout to Robert he was very nice and gave us some great stories about the gardens. The staff also do a fabulous job with keeping the gardens in order. The only comment I have is that more signage might be needed in the fern gully as we were close to getting lost many times though overall exceptional gardens and service.
Owen W — Google review
The garden itself was alright, but the experience was completely ruined by the staff especially the older lady at the front ticket office (visit date 26/9/25). From the moment we arrived, she was unwelcoming and spoke to us in a very rude and condescending manner. Instead of greeting us politely, she demanded that we stand there and read every single word on the notice board, almost like she was lecturing us. What was even more disappointing was that she didn’t treat other (white) visitors the same way, which made us feel like we were being singled out because of our skin colour. She took away my 3 year old’s small ball, saying no equipment was allowed not even a soft ball or a flying saucer (like a frisbee plate). My child was upset but handed it over politely. To make it worse, as soon as we entered, we saw other children playing with balls and flying saucers freely. We recorded videos as evidence showing that other kids were allowed to play inside while our child was restricted (screen shots from the video are attached for reference). When I showed the evidence to the old rude lady at the front, her response was, “OH, I DIDN’T KNOW I DIDN’T MEAN TO DISCRIMINATE”. The fact that she said the word “DISCRIMINATION” herself says a lot. Beyond that, toilets were poorly maintained the smell was unbearable. No proper parking, expect a long walk, which is especially difficult with little kids. The map provided is completely confusing and useless we had no idea where anything was, and other visitors looked lost as well. Proper signage or name tags near sculptures or garden areas would be much more helpful. This place really needs friendlier and more professional staff, especially at the front entrance. A beautiful garden means nothing if visitors are made to feel unwelcome or treated unfairly.
Madzy B — Google review
Forest Glade Gardens is an awesome experience! There is so much to look at and see. We went to 2 gardens on the day and this was by far the best of the 2. Spent almost 3 hours at Forest Glade compared to just over 30 minutes at the other place we visited on the same day. Be prepared to do some hill walking if you want to see it all though. It was very busy, however it wasn't crowded and most parts of the garden were very accessible despite the crowd. The only downside is that there are not enough toilets and I think this could be improved on. But overall well worth the visit! Totally enjoyable!

Experience the charm of the Gisborne Olde Time Market, a delightful showcase of local creativity and produce. Held on the first Sunday of every month, this market offers an array of goods including local crafts, plants, wood carvings, home decor, and delicious food options like giant spring rolls and macaroons. It's a perfect opportunity to explore the beauty, history, and culture of the Macedon Ranges while enjoying a day filled with shopping and tasty treats.
One of our favourite Sunday markets. Always buzzing with people, great selection of stall holders, a great way to start the morning, especially on a cold day with a warm coffee, egg and bacon roll, and some baked sweets.
Gym G — Google review
The market wasn’t as big as I expected—managed to see all the stalls in about 15 minutes. One thing I found unusual was the signage saying no dogs allowed, yet there were dogs everywhere. Bit confusing, but overall a quick browse if you’re in the area.
Bella B — Google review
The market is a great place to find a variety of delicious foods. In particular, the curry puffs and pork crackle from one of the market stalls are highly recommended. I encourage you to visit the market and try these delectable treats for yourself.
Dave H — Google review
Basic market fancy made stuff said no dogs but dogs everywhere prams and people standing in the middle its not for those who dont want the budging feet stood on etc. Food lines ridiculously long i won't be back didn't buy a thing or find anything interesting..not worth the drive for out of towners..

One of six weekend farmers markets in Macedon Ranges. Gisborne Market is opened on 1st Sunday monthly. Local produce, crafts, plants, exotic wood carving, home & garden decors, some food & cafe vans including pancake on site. We noticed a knife sharpener service van too. A nice weather day certainly makes everything a lot better. Families, friends enjoy looking, shopping, laughing...❤
Phuong L — Google review
I have been going to this market for a very long time. The best chicken curry puffs (highly recommended), best bacon n egg roll (close to toilet/footy field entrance), and I buy my eggs from Phil's Conifers. The market has become more expensive over the years; and pay attention to where you park. Always lovely to visit Gisborne and see the beautiful birds, pine cone and chestnut trees.
Susan M — Google review
We enjoyed the stall and variety of items. Baths available and plenty of places to stop and enjoy a drink or a snack. Worth stopping by again!
Brisy E — Google review
Excellent market, lots of great produce, hot foods, arts and crafts. I always get organic honey from every market I go to. Go early, opens at 9 to beat the crowds and ease of parking.

Gisborne Peak Winery & Short Term Stays offers a delightful experience for both wine and pet lovers. Visitors can indulge in wine tastings, wood-fired pizzas, and tasting platters while enjoying scenic views of the vineyard and lake from the open-air deck. The winery is known for its pet-friendly environment, even featuring a Pet of the Week on their social media.
We had a lovely lunch at Gisborne Peak. The menu was minimal, but the shared platter was yummy, and woodfire pizza was delicious as well. Friendly staff and great customer service. Indoor and outdoor seating available overlooking the lake. A variety of wines to purchase and have with your meals. Wine tasting at the cellar door available to purchase . Accommodation also available on site.

Gisborne Peak (Winery) Is not a Winery no Wine is produced on the premises The grapes are sent to Hanging Rock Winery and the wine is bottled there. This so called Winery is in a residential area and infringes on the people that live in the area It has been closed for nearly a year. With renovations and building done without council approval. It is an eye sore with the nets from last season's crop laying on the ground between the vines. The place should be closed permanently.

Hi Team Tony & myself would be more than happy to write a review about how thrilled we were with our 38th wedding anniversary vacation at your facility. The cleanliness of our accommodation was impeccable & with all the comforts one would need for an enjoyable holiday. The peacefulness of our surroundings made our stay very relaxing & enjoyable away from the usual hustle & bustle of our everyday lives. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal in your restaurant & the service from your hospitality staff, in particular a lady called Lynn was first class. Lynn was extremely friendly & took the time needed to explain both our menu options & how we could redeem our Red Balloon voucher for our meal & various items in your gift shop. Tony & myself do travel quite extensively & would not hesitate to recommend your facility to our friends & family & the wider community via the below mentioned platforms. Although this was our first time staying at your facility it will most certainly not be our last. Congratulations on managing such a wonderful facility that deserves all of the accolades & awards received to date & beyond.

We had the pleasure of staying at Gisborne Peak Winery and were greeted by very lovely smiles and service given by Linny and Lynn in the restaurant. They went above and beyond to let us know of local experiences, things to do and places to visit. The food was also very delicious and well priced. We were soon given our keys to the accommodation, which was set up very average at most. There were a few things that need revamping and work, but we did enjoy our short and sweet stay and didn’t let us bother us too much. We would definitely be back for the restaurant!
HEYITSPREE — Google review
Came here on a weekday. Nice quiet winery. Service was amazing. Lovely lady who served us and even offered to take photo for us. The wine was superb and serving portion was generous. We also had the chocolate lava cake which was gooey and delicious! Place was cozy. Would highly recommend to friends and family

We went for Sunday lunch and reserved a table over the web. The cafe is situated in lovely area and quaintly decorated. We Ordered the large grazing platter and a wood fried pizza to share. The food was delicious, the Turkish bread and the pizza were really yummy. Food price was on the high side though. The pizza was small but priced at $22. The coffee was good. The staff were friendly and served with a smile. Onsite unisex toilets. Plenty of parking. No split bills. There are cottages to rent on site as well.
Hansaniee K — Google review
Randomly chose this place with my husband on a day trip to Gisborne with 2 family members from England and New Zealand. We chose the large sharing platter and a bottle of wine recommended by our hostess Lynn. The food and wine did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and inviting even though cold outside. The service from Lynn was exceptional. We plan to visit again with more family to enjoy. Thank you Lynn for your service with a smile.

Located in Melbourne's west, Animal Land Children's Farm provides an immersive farm experience for children. The farm offers hands-on activities such as pony rides, milking cows, collecting eggs, and cuddling baby animals. Visitors can also enjoy tractor tours and interact with a variety of animals including ponies, sheep, goats, ducks, and more. With 30 years of history, this working farm allows kids to feed and pet the animals while learning about farm life.
We LOVE Animal Land Childrens Farm. With a family friendly and pocket friendly experience. This farm offers the opportunity for up close and personal experiences with the animals. Feeding, petting, learning. I have just as much fun as the kids. I held my daughters party here and chose the self catered party option which was wonderful. They were so friendly and accommodated our needs. From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU !!

This was the perfect weekend escape for our family of 4! We live such a busy life day to day and this was just the perfect escape. The fresh air, beautiful landscapes, amazing accommodation (the most amazing beds we have ever slept in!!!) and the staff felt like family. The kids rated it the best weekend away EVER!! We will be back a few times a year that’s for sure. Thank you so much for making the weekend everything we wanted and more

Nice little farm perfect for all ages. Entrance fee cost $20 for adult and $20 for kids above 18months old. Nice animal interactions throughout the whole farm. From holding rabbits, milking cow, pony rides, feeding ducks, horses and goats. Pig are also available for viewing, if you're lucky you may come across piglets too! Cafe on sites that serves hot food. Indoor and outdoor seatings are available. Playground on site. Good experience

What an awesome place to both visit and also have a birthday party at! The activities are fantastic under the birthday VIP package. We rode ponies, enjoyed a tractor ride around the farm, milked a cow, visited chickens, and pat bunnies. Every kid at the party had a go at something and everyone had a wonderful time. I was worried we’d rushed for time or run late…but the head farmer assigned to our party group helped keep things moving graciously on reasonable schedule. I definitely recommend for parties. I was able to decorate the marque space and was able to set something great up using the space! The venue had everything I needed with tables, chairs and tables along with table covers, plates, drinks and party food for the kids. There was a “bar” area which I was able to use to hold drinks in a built in sink and have a grazing table spread for adults. Food servings were generous for the kids and the food was delicious! I recommend touring the site to work out your decoration needs to add your own unique spin to the party space. Thoughtful touches like an A/c blowing cool air into the marquee was lovely. The team working the day were super kind, accommodating and helpful however they can. The animals had so much open space, fed super well and looked healthy and happy. You sensed they were at peace just enjoying life 🐄
Mango T — Google review
Awesome place. Get the VIP tour if you want to make the most of your time. It is a 2 hour program with a farmer and includes a great set of activities for kids and a tractor ride. I can't recommend it enough.
Azad R — Google review
We celebrated our son’s 5th birthday at animal land and it was awesome! They decorated the whole place up with party hats and plates and even gave out lollies to all the kids in a cute glass bottle. Sarah brought us around the farm. We get to milk the cows, sat in the tractor and the kids get to pick the eggs from the chicken coop and sat in the pony. We get to bring the eggs home after that. My son had a great time and we can see how happy the kids were patting all the animals in the animal nursery part. I received feedbacks that it is the best party ever. Thank you, animal land!

Loved loved loved. We purchased a family VIP , which included a tour guide Kelly the best! , milking the cows pony ride feeding the chooks, the pigs the ducks and chickens. Enjoyed every second and wish to return which we will be planning next time with extended family members. Thank you Kelly for making this first time experience a memorable and fun time. We will defs be returning back for another visit until then. Recommend 10/10

Werribee Gorge State Park (Parks Victoria)

State park
Nature & Parks
Nature area drawing daytrippers with hiking paths, climbing terrain, picnic spots & swimming holes.
One of the few parks in the western side with some good grade 3 walking treks. Some walks are moderate to steep in height but not that difficult. Nice views and mix of scenery. The long trek takes roughly around 3hrs. It's has a beach at one part of the river which can be used for swimming or a dip. There are few tables in the picnic area, and it has drop toilet but not sure how it is.
Samin I — Google review
So so so beautiful. One of my favourite hikes I’ve been on since I started hiking. The weather was amazing. The hike was relatively challenging, with a few rocky bits, but was very much worth it.
Susu — Google review
It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Victoria, perfect for any sunny day, whether in summer or winter. Some sections can be challenging, with slippery rocks and small areas where you need to lean on the rocks and hold a rope, so it’s not suitable for everyone—especially young children or the elderly. Definitely worth visiting, and I’d happily go again.
Jo — Google review
Beautiful walk through the Werribee gorge. The weather was on our side! Great challenges, and amazing views and scenery throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the river walk and the beach area was excellent for a lunch stop. Highly recommend to take your time and enjoy this little bit of nature.
Colin S — Google review
It was a very interesting trail comprises of walk by the beautiful stream, narrow cliff side walk, crossing huge rocks with rope support, uphill and downhill, beaches to swim. We in our 60s took approximately 4hrs to complete the Waribee Curcuit with stops for photo-taking.. we all had enjoyed the trail. Yes the anticlockwise could be a better direction to have the cliff narrow path and crossing the big rocks with rope support at the end of the trail..Strongly recommended.
Kelly T — Google review
I've walked both the short circuit and long and neither are overly difficult hikes. There are a couple of long steeper sections on both trails but nothing that will kill you. Slow and steady. Signage is ok. Could be better. But trail is pretty easy to identify without the signs. Although id still recommend having a digital or paper map with you as a backup. Not an overly scenic trail though. The nicest part is to the south along the creek. The majority of the trail is though the middle of the bush so not many lookouts along the way. Parking and toilet provisions are good. 3.5 stars because of the lack of scenery and the noise from the freeway on the northern end is a bit of a downer.
Anisa R — Google review
A fantastic place. Even on a grey, rainy day! Lots of options for trails too for different levels of trekkers. Easy or hard as you like. The low track runs along the creek (where we took a freezing but liberating dip) with a section you can climb across, which was good fun. We didn’t spot any koalas but apparently it’s known for a lot of sightings. Tip: park in bottom car park so you don’t finish your trek and have to walk uphill to get to your car!
Rosanne S — Google review
amazing trail, lots of different walking options for different fitness levels and the picnic areas and nicely sectioned away from the trail. giving minus one star because the lookout point circuit is a little confusing. If you make it to the top, be mindful of signs.

I recently visited Naturipe Fruits at Bacchus Marsh Cherry Farm, and it was a delightful experience. This charming farm offers an immersive fruit picking adventure that is perfect for families, or anyone looking to enjoy a day in nature. Upon arrival, the farm's friendly staff welcomed us warmly and provided us with everything we needed for a successful peaches and nectarines picking journey. The instructions were clear, and they provided us with bags to collect our fruits. The orchards are beautifully maintained. Walking through the rows of trees, we enjoyed the serene atmosphere and the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. In addition the, the farm has a lovely farm shop offering a variety of local produce and products. We couldn’t resist picking up honey to take home. The entry was free and price was $4 per kg. Overall, Naturipe Fruits at Bacchus Marsh Cherry Farm offers a delightful day out. The combination of fresh fruits, picturesque surroundings, and friendly service makes this farm a standout destination. I highly recommend a visit.

Experience fresh fruit picking and eating on the spot. Sour or Sweet, you taste it yourself before putting into your box. There are ladders provided for those that wanted to get the best fruits from the top. Variety of cherries to pick but no strawberry on this cherry farm during my visit on 23 Dec 2024, but you just need to drive down to the nearest farm (Left from this exit) and you will be able to park at the Naturipe Strawberry farm, where you just need to make an entry fee and comes with a box of strawberries.
Ng P — Google review
We visited on 19 April 2025, day after Good Friday. Fuji apples and granny smith apples were available for picking from 9am-1pm but the farm may close earlier if there are too many visitors. No entry fee, but you are charged $4/kg you bring out of the farm. There were plenty of trees with abundant granny smith apples, but it seems like most of the good fuji apples had already been picked. The good ones that were left were hidden away or slightly out of reach, but the farm provides stepladders which you can climb up to get to the apples that were higher up. We were still able to pick quite a few fuji apples. Though they were smaller and not as uniformly red as ideal, we tasted them back home and they were fresh, crunchy, and still sweet. They also sell yellow gum and red gum honey, some homemade jams, and strawberries too.

This is a late review, but I was here almost two years ago with by family who came from overseas to travel Australia. They really enjoyed visiting this place and we were able to pick strawberries, nectarines and cherries. The produce was fresh and the prices were very cheap compared to other fruit picking places near by. I thought I’d return and leave a review as my family still remembers how fun and interesting it was😊
Anuki F — Google review
Went cherry picking here today on our way back from Daylesford. Free entry and was $15kg for freshly picked cherries. The trees are full at the back with cherries but at the front they were dried up. But the rest were ready to be picked and had the sour ones too.
Sue — Google review
Very good place to visit during the cherry picking season, good place for family. Make sure get some water bottles from entrance or keep some alongside as you might have to walk through the farm quite some distance, there’s Sweet, Sour and white cherries at same time but get ready to put some steps down. Also they have apple and strawberries pickings but during some other season. You can get a container at the entrance to gather fruits and pay during exit. There portable toilets next to the entrance area. Good place overall, I recommend
Mishad M — Google review
Happy with the trip to Naturipe Fruits for apple 🍎 picking. The apples were fresh, crunchy, juicy, wax-free, a bit sweet & sour, though we went there in late April, the end of apple season. No entry fee was required, just need to pay for the apples you picked at $4 per kg. That's a really reasonable price. It's worth a visit. Just one hour drive from the Melbourne city, recommended this farm.

I keep going here quiet often, specially when the weather is beeautifull. Lots of fruits and varieties as per the season. If you were to use the toilets, there are 3 portable toilets but not clean at all. So be prepared before you go.

Nestled in the heart of Taylors Lakes, just a short drive from Melbourne's CBD, Watergardens Shopping Centre is a vibrant hub for both shopping and entertainment. This bustling destination offers an array of everyday shops and specialty stores featuring major brands like Rebel, Platypus, and Kathmandu. Beyond retail therapy, visitors can indulge in casual dining at informal eateries or catch the latest flicks at the cinema. For those seeking fun activities, there's even a bowling alley to enjoy!
Attended the Watergardens community fun day with my children and it was such a wonderful event! Having not been to the centre before I was unsure of access or where to go, but it was very easy to find my way and a park! Great day out for the whole family and so well organised. All the emergency services were so generous with their time and really engaging. Access was easy and lines moved fairly quickly considering the turn out. Thanks watergardens for such a Great day out!

I was so disappointed; we were trying to buy some fetta at the deli, and there were two staff when I called for some help; the lady just yelled at us rudely and said, can't you wait? We are willing to wait but try to be friendly to customers. I understand that you may be tired, but try not to put your ego into your customers.

The shopping centre is nice and big. They have a small area for kids to play. Inside next to fresh fruits shop. The ropes in the play area are too sharp. My son literally had cuts and blood on his fingers while playing. Requesting the owners to please fix this - its dangerous for kids.

I had a wonderful experience at Bliss Out Spa. The atmosphere is surprisingly tranquil and relaxing, especially considering it’s located in a shopping centre, you truly feel transported the moment you step inside. The space is contemporary, clean, and calming, setting the perfect tone for a therapeutic escape. My therapist, Tina, was exceptional. Her technique was both deeply therapeutic and incredibly relaxing, and she was attentive to exactly what my body needed. I had the "60 minute combo Re Luxe". I left feeling refreshed, restored, and genuinely cared for. Highly recommend Bliss Out Spa for anyone seeking a high-quality, peaceful wellness experience. I’ll definitely be returning.

This shopping centre is well worth the drive! I attended the annual Watergardens Community Day for the second year in a row with my two young boys, and it’s honestly the best free family day out. There’s so much to do for the kids. From face painting, prizes, and BBQ to photos with the Paw Patrol characters, which my boys absolutely loved! It’s also awesome to see all the emergency services volunteers there. The kids were thrilled to meet them and check out the vehicles up close. The atmosphere was fantastic, and even though it was busy, the lines moved quickly and we found parking with ease. We’ll definitely be back next year. It’s such a wonderful community event.

A day out shopping here is worth it, going all the way from the the western suburbs. One can get almost everything here, if compared with Pacific Werribee and Northland shopping centre. Food court has ample choices and enough parking bays too.

After not going to Watergardens for a while, I was very surprised to find that the disabled carparks in the underground parking have been removed and replaced with "small car parks". So disappointed. I called to complain but could only speak to a security guard, and over a week later centre management have not seen fit to call back. So good to see that they have decided to make the hard life of disabled people even harder. How nice to know they think we are unworthy of even the basic things.

It's a quiet place. Too many people come here for shopping. It is as crowded as HIGHPOINT. First time came this place. Just wait for 5mins to my turn. Nice and friendly staff. I love this place. Next time I will comeback. MORE SHOPS FOR YOU. HUGE PARKING LOTS.

Altona Beach, located in the western suburbs of Melbourne, is a popular destination for beach enthusiasts. The 3km stretch of sandy coastline offers calm waters and a long ocean pier, making it an ideal spot for various recreational and water sport activities such as kite surfing, volleyball, and swimming. Families are drawn to this kid-friendly beach due to its safe swimming conditions and the presence of public barbecue spaces, tree-lined parks, cafes, and restaurants along the pine-dotted promenade.
Beautiful beach for a day out. Plenty of shade in the afternoon in the west side of the beach. Good for cycling or a beach day picnic. It does get crowdy over weekend but we were still able to find parking. Also the parking is free on the road. There are toilets in the nearby parks so be ready to walk slightly if you need to go 😅. Recommend place to visit.

Wasn't too busy on a weekend and nice weather. The sand area is quite clean. However, the water is full of seaweed and lots of jellyfish atm. Not what I'd want to be swimming in. The dogs enjoyed a walk along the beach, though.
Megan — Google review
Altona Beach has always been a great spot, but the upgrades along the Esplanade have made it even better. The new wide paths and beach access ramps make it easier for everyone to enjoy, and the seating, shade areas, and landscaping give it a really welcoming feel. The closure of part of the Esplanade to traffic has made it safer and more relaxing to walk between the beach, pier, and shops. The new pier is fantastic too — perfect for fishing, walking, or just taking in the views. Overall, the improvements have really lifted the whole area and made it one of the best spots in Melbourne’s west for a day out.

Fairy Park is a charming amusement park with whimsical and fairytale-themed attractions, including animatronic scenes and model trains. The park provides an excellent experience for children under the age of three who can enjoy pushing buttons, watching animated scenes, and listening to stories. Additionally, the playground at the bottom of the hill is fantastic and can keep kids entertained for hours. The admission fee of $22 for adults offers value for money as kids under three get in free.
It has been years since I have visited here, last time was with my Children probably 20 years ago, this time with my granddaughter. We had such a lovely day. No crowds so easy to get in and see all the displays. Grabbed lunch while we were there very well priced and delicious and ended the day playing at the playground. Definitely a great family activity and if you don't want to purchase food simply take a picnic lunch, there is loads of seating available.

A good place to visit with young kids, as they get to enjoy seeing their story book characters come to life. My daughter who's 4 years old absolutely enjoyed it. Plenty room supplied for packed lunches. There is a small cafe but not much variety for food options. Stroller friendly but a hike as you walk through the attractions to the top.

We had an enchanting day at Fairy Park with our kids! The princess-themed fairy tales and attractions were a huge hit with the little ones. The park was well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kids loved the interactive experiences, and we enjoyed the nostalgic feel of classic fairy tales brought to life. The food options were suitable for families, and the play areas were clean and safe. Overall, Fairy Park is a great place for families with young children who love princesses and fairy tales. We can't wait to come back and explore more!

I was amazed how well they have maintained the place since it's been around for more than 60 years! Highly recommend it especially for kids who grew up reading and watching fairy tales like Snow White, Pinnochio. Jack and the Beanstalk and much more. As an adult, it's a walk down memory lane :) I think we loved it as much as the kids did! It was a slow uphill walk with many stops and things to see, so we didn't really felt it. Easily you could spend 2-3 hours here. Priced $26 for adults and $14 for ages 3-16. Reasonable to me.

Nestled just a short drive from Melbourne's bustling CBD, the Werribee Open Range Zoo is a delightful family-friendly destination that transports visitors to the heart of Africa. Spanning over 225 hectares, this unique zoo offers an incredible opportunity to observe iconic African wildlife in their naturalistic habitats. From majestic giraffes and playful zebras to powerful lions and gentle elephants, every corner of the zoo is filled with fascinating creatures.
We absolutely love visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo! There are so many amazing animals to see, and it’s always such a fun and exciting day out for the whole family. My favourite part is definitely the safari bus tour — it’s such a unique experience that takes you around the open range area to see animals up close, just like you’re on a real African safari. Meya (Not sure if i spelt her name correctly but) did a fantastic job driving us around and explaining everything so clearly. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable — kudos to her! It was also really exciting when we got stuck behind Harold the giraffe for a little while — he decided to stand right in the way and wouldn’t move! We all had a good laugh and got an even closer look at him. Moments like that make the tour so memorable. They’ve also just opened the new Elephant Trail, and it’s absolutely incredible! It’s a huge, 21-hectare, state-of-the-art space that gives the elephants so much room to roam. The design is beautiful and really well thought out — you can tell a lot of care has gone into making it a great environment for the animals We love going there, and the kids do too! It’s always a fantastic day full of adventure, learning, and fun. Highly recommend a visit! 🐘🦒🦓

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely the Best Zoo I’ve Ever Been To! Werribee Open Range Zoo is truly magical! From the friendly and welcoming staff to the spacious animal enclosures and spotless grounds, everything about this place is exceptional. The new state-of-the-art elephant enclosure is incredible — it’s even larger than all of Melbourne Zoo put together and that’s just one section of the park! We did the Giraffe Animal Experience, which turned out to be so much more than just a tour. We hopped on one of the safari buses and were taken right into the open plains, surrounded by incredible animals roaming freely — seeing the rhino family up close was an unforgettable highlight. The behind-the-scenes giraffe experience was amazing too. We got to feed the giraffes, explore their enclosure, and learn so much about them. Our guide, JESSE was absolutely fantastic! His passion for the animals, knowledge, and fun personality made the whole experience come alive. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it made our visit extra special. My husband and I were lucky it was raining so it was just us 2 on the tour . The zoo’s wide-open spaces make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Africa — it’s breathtaking how much room the animals have to roam. If you’re visiting the Melbourne area, Werribee Zoo is an absolute must-see. It was the highlight of our trip, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Had a wonderful time at Werribee Open Range Zoo! The safari-style setup makes it feel like a real African adventure. The animals looked healthy and relaxed, especially the hippos by the water. Paid $55 for the entrance ticket and an additional $60 for the Deluxe Safari, totally worth it! The deluxe safari gets you much closer to the animals, and the guide gives detailed explanations along the way. They stop for photos too, which is nice. We accidentally walked past the deluxe tour waiting point (it’s just next to the normal safari area along the elephant trail 😂), so just note, the normal safari cars are giraffe-painted, while the private/deluxe ones are zebra-painted. Easier to spot! Our guide, Daniel, was awesome, super knowledgeable and engaging. He even showed us animal items like fur, horns, and skeletons, which made it extra interesting. The small group size also meant he could spend more time explaining things to everyone. The only downside is the limited range of animals on the safari itself, mainly rhinos, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and camels roaming freely. You’ll also see bisons, Mongolian horses, and (I think) gazelles from a distance behind fences. Would’ve been nice to see elephants or hippos too, but it makes sense since the vehicles aren’t caged like in other safaris around the world. That said, you can still see elephants, lions, and more by walking around the zoo afterwards, so it’s not a dealbreaker. Another plus, the zoo has a baby feeding and diaper changing room, super clean and even has toys to keep toddlers occupied while you clean up. Overall, a great experience! Would definitely recommend the deluxe safari for a more personal and educational tour. 🦒🦏🦓

Loved it. Gorgeous surrounds. Fabulous sculptures and murals. Lots of activities for the kids. Beautiful native flowers. Fairywrens galore & of course the wild animals. Sad to hear Kalinda the Cheetah had passed, as had their wild dogs but the elephants are thriving in their new enclosure.

The open Zoo is awesome. I went on a school holiday so free for the kids. That was wonderful. No words to explain. We have two safari one is free with the entry ticket and the premium costs dollar fifty each. Our van went very near to the animals while the free safari was near too but goes only on road. Don’t wait to visit the zoo. I am delighted to post the naughty lions of the zoo.

Military Museums
Located in Point Cook, just 25 minutes from Melbourne, the RAAF Museum is the original home base of the Australian Flying Corps. This museum offers a fascinating look into the history of Australian aviation and features vintage aircraft displays, including helicopters and various generations of fighters. Visitors can enjoy interactive flying displays on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, showcasing heritage aircraft such as the Tiger Moth and Mustang. The museum also offers guided tours for groups of six or more upon request.
For aviation lovers or anyone curious about Australia’s military past, the RAAF Museum at Point Cook is a must-visit. As the birthplace of the Royal Australian Air Force, this historic airfield sets the perfect stage for a museum that combines impressive aircraft, interactive exhibits, and a deep sense of legacy. Walking through the hangars, I was struck by how close you can get to the planes—ranging from early biplanes to modern jets. The displays are thoughtfully curated, blending technical detail with personal stories of those who served. There’s something quietly moving about standing beneath a WWII-era bomber or reading letters sent home from airmen in the field. It’s not just about machines; it’s about people, bravery, and innovation. One thing to note: the museum is not open all year round, and visits are only available on selected days with limited time slots. It’s essential to check the official website and book ahead—entry is free, but registration is required. I was lucky to catch one of the open days, and it’s absolutely worth planning around. The museum also runs regular flying displays (check the schedule), which bring the exhibits to life with real aircraft taking to the skies. Even without a show, the open-air setting and access to restricted RAAF history make this a unique experience you won’t find elsewhere in Australia. Whether you’re a lifelong avgeek, a history buff, or just looking for something different to do in Melbourne, the RAAF Museum offers an unforgettable deep dive into the stories that helped shape the skies over Australia.

A wonderful experience at the RAAF Museum in Point Cook! 💙 The exhibits are fascinating, and the volunteers are truly amazing so passionate, kind, and full of knowledge. Their stories brought history to life. Thank you for sharing it with such love and dedication! ✈️
Riya G — Google review
The staff and volunteers at the RAAF Museum are absolutely outstanding, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They take the time to explain the details of the aircraft, objects, and historical events, making the whole visit both informative and engaging. Their passion for aviation and history really brings the museum to life. Entry is completely free, which is incredible considering the quality and depth of the exhibits. The museum itself is impressive, with around 10 to 15 aircraft on display and thousands of objects including uniforms, machine guns, missiles, aviation equipment and other things. The collection covers a huge timeline — from before World War I, through World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, East Timor, and even modern conflicts such as Afghanistan. Each section is beautifully presented, showing the evolution of the Royal Australian Air Force and its contribution to global history. The souvenir shop has really good prices. The volunteers make the experience even better with their enthusiasm and storytelling. A few practical tips: bring photo ID to enter, as it’s inside an active military base, and check the official website for updated opening hours before you go and book is mandatory. Parking is free and easy, and the site is well maintained and accessible. Even if you’re not a big aviation fan, this museum is an incredible way to learn more about Australia’s military history and see up-close the technology and courage that shaped it. It’s informative, emotional, and absolutely worth the trip. A true hidden gem in Melbourne’s west!
J.Patrick — Google review
This is a world class museum that does a great job of presenting the history of the RAAF. The museum starts with a gallery that highlights the force’s roles in war. Visitors then move through three large hangers containing historically important aircraft and further displays. The aircraft are well presented and many are the only examples of the type in Australia - some are the only survivors in the world. At 1 pm there was a well executed flying display featuring a CT4 trainer performing aerobatics. The pilot and volunteers gave interesting short talks about the history of the aircraft and the display. All the staff at the museum are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The main problem with the museum is that it’s not serviced by public transport, with the nearest bus stop being 20 minutes walk away. I got Ubers from the nearest train station which were about $20 each way. The hanger displaying recent jet fighters is also currently closed while OH&S issues are fixed - this was disappointing. There are also some quirks to visiting. As the museum is on an active RAAF base, visitors need to register online by 8 am on day they visit and bring photo ID. There are also not any food or drink options. The museum website explains these any other issues.

Dog owners will appreciate that dogs are welcome in the area.
Once we worked out how to get there (Google was getting to take us all different ways that we knew we couldn't go). We finally went via Werribee Park Mansion. A decent walk across the river then down a road to a track which winds back to viewing points of the cliffs on K Road. Absolutely stunning

Yes. I found the community park land and sports facilities adjacent to the Bungie's water hole on the Werribee River, which would be a great place to swim on a very hot day ... But they have No Swimming signs posted on the waters edge, so maybe there are crocodiles or piranha or sumting .... But it's a lovely spot.

The Werribee River Park track that joins from the Federation Trail is a dead end as the bridge over the river to the Mansion is closed and has been for 2 years following a flood event. Come on PV, get it fixed please. Posted October 2022 People who may be planning visits to the Werribee Regional Park should be aware of some access restrictions between now and the end of the year. Recent flooding has caused structural damage to the footbridge over the Werribee River, and the bridge is closed indefinitely. Update from Parks Victoria Best we can hope for is Spring 2025 "The proposed repair works to the structure and stream embankment are significant. Repair works need careful planning and design with many site and environmental factors being considered. Flora and fauna, and hydrological assessments have been undertaken. These have provided information required to schedule the repair works, which must occur at a certain time of year. This will minimise the impact on flora and fauna in the area surrounding the bridge and consider expected water levels in the river. An ideal timeframe has been determined and works are expected to take place in Q1 FY 25/26."

This should be better signed so more know about this beautiful place. Lovely trails to walk along and view the red cliffs or to walk along the river trails and see wallabies, lizards etc. Of course it is a lovely way to walk into the Werribee Mansion too.

Our group had a fantastic time at Moorabool Ridge. They were extremely accomodating, especially since I had booked the wrong day 😅 Our group of 12 bought at least three bottles of wine home each. We were very impressed with all of the wines and thought they were great value. We will definitely be back again 🙂 Thank you!!

Local to us and we are embarrassed that we drive past twice a day. All that changed today with a stunning flight of wine tasting. Every wine is a winner for a different reason and we couldn't leave without a mixed box of Oscar and Sophia. We'll be back soon with some friends and family for a feed too. Lovely people, amazing setting and a great regional secret. Thank you for the great afternoon.

I contacted ahead & my 2 dogs and I were warmly welcomed by Rufus & his humans. I wanted to source local wines & produce, as Christmas gifts and was well rewarded. Preservative free jams, chutneys & relishes, fresh water & balsamic soaked olives & wines sold by the vigneron and his family. The aspect of the Cellar Door is as luscious as the 2017 & 2019 vintage wines ranging from a definitive cold climate Sauvignon Blanc to straight Shiraz or Shiraz blends. Buy 1 dozen, get 1 bottle free - perfect for Christmas giving. 🎅🏽🤶🎅🏽🤶🎅🏽🤶🎅🏽🤶🎅🏽

If they conduct business as horrible as the guy driving the Ute that has their company's logo on it, then I suggest going to another place. The man has absolutely no awareness while driving and nearly hit me while I was walking on the PEDESTRIAN crossing at Woolworths Geelong West, and kept on driving. Disgusting and not a good look for the business.

What a beautiful wine tasting experience! Thank you to Tim and Jo (and to Rufus and Nitro -their adorable dogs) for being such wonderful hosts. Every wine we tasted was delicious, I just had to get one bottle of each! We will definitely be back again soon! Highly recommend this spot to anyone who wants a fun, relaxing, delectable wine tasting experience. :)

Great wine set amongst the most beautiful scenery, topped off with a genuine and kind host (and dog). I visited here with a group of girls last Saturday and loved it. Tim has a great knack for making wine and sharing his love for the whole process, evidenced by him naming the wines after his children. If you love a homely, genuine vibe in a setting where the owner helps you to connect with the land's history and unique wine varieties - give this place a go. The quality of the wine is top notch, isn't mass produced and is affordably priced!

We had a relaxing birthday celebration here. The setting was beautiful, the roses made a lovely backdrop for photos. The wine tasting was spread out over the afternoon along with the food which resulted in us staggering out carrying our favourite wines. The Cab Franc was a favourite with us all. The small children spent the afternoon running and playing in between platters of food. A bit of a drive but well worth the trip. Be prepared not to rush, sit back, relax and enjoy the wine and scenery.

The scenery is breathtaking. Felt like green Swiss Alps. Lovingly Greeted by a friendly dog who wants to play fetch all the time. Wine tasting is a really unique experience here. Family winery with names of children and Granny ❤️ that. Winery with a clean conscience and no preservatives. And you can feel the taste difference. Reminded me of Swan valley Boutique wine experience. Loved it and is going to be the first of many trips ahead.

The Carousel in Geelong is a charming piece of history, with 36 hand-crafted horses and two chariots carefully restored to their original colors. Nestled beside the Steampacket Gardens, this vintage carousel offers a delightful ride that takes you back in time. The waterfront redevelopment around it includes new restaurants, landscaped gardens, and walking paths. Inside the Geelong Visitor Centre, you can learn about its rich history and restoration process while enjoying a nostalgic ride for just $5.
Visited the Carousel Geelong on the waterfront for the first time and it was an absolute delight! Nestled along the picturesque waterfront, this carousel is a hidden gem that offers endless fun for families, kids, and anyone who appreciates the beauty of these timeless attractions. The carousel features beautifully crafted horses that add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the waterfront scenery. It's the perfect spot to create lasting memories with loved ones while enjoying a leisurely ride amidst the stunning backdrop of the waterfront. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem, and it quickly became a favorite spot for me and my family. Whether you're taking a spin on the carousel or simply admiring its charm from afar, the Carousel Geelong is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the waterfront area. Highly recommend stopping by and experiencing the magic of the Carousel Geelong for yourself. I’m planning to bring my nieces and nephew to appreciate this, reminds me of the one at z Melbourne Zoo. Who doesn’t love a classic carousel where you get to pick the perfect horse to sit on while you enjoy the carousel rotate!

A Magical Trip Back in Time for Young and Old Alike In the heart of Geelong's waterfront, The Carousel is a gem that will transport you back in time to an era of whimsy and wonder. This beautifully restored 1892 carousel is a must-visit attraction for families, history buffs, and anyone looking to recapture a sense of childlike magic. As you step onto the carousel platform, you're immediately immersed in a world of vibrant colours and intricate details. The carousel itself is a work of art, featuring 36 hand-carved horses, as well as other animals like giraffes, zebras, and even a dragon. Each horse is uniquely decorated with ornate saddles, flowing manes, and glass jewels that catch the light as they gently sway to the tune of the carousel's old-fashioned organ music. The ride itself is a nostalgic experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. As the carousel begins to turn, you'll feel like a kid again, clinging tight to your chosen steed as you rise and fall in a mesmerising dance. The gentle motion and the lively music create a sense of carefree joy that's hard to resist. But The Carousel is more than just a fun ride - it's also a fascinating piece of history. The carousel was originally built in 1892 by Charles I.D. Looff, a renowned carousel maker, and has been meticulously restored to its former glory. As you gaze at the intricate carvings and the ornate mirrors that surround the ride, you can't help but feel a sense of awe at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into creating this masterpiece. In addition to the carousel itself, the surrounding pavilion is filled with charming touches that add to the overall ambiance. Vintage carousel horses and other memorabilia line the walls, while comfortable seating areas invite you to linger and take in the sights and sounds. There's even a small gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs to remember your visit. Whether you're a parent looking for a fun and educational outing for your kids, a history enthusiast eager to see a piece of the past brought to life, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of a bygone era, with its stunning restoration, nostalgic charm, and sense of wonder, this magical attraction is sure to delight visitors of all ages.

The Carousel on Geelong’s waterfront adds a touch of nostalgia to the modern promenade. Housed in a glass pavilion that glitters after dark, the century-old horses circle to a cheerful barrel-organ soundtrack while the bay shimmers outside every window. It feels almost cinematic stepping aboard, with polished brass poles, hand-painted scenes on the rounding boards and gentle sea breezes drifting through the open doors in summer. Families cluster at the railing to wave each time riders glide past, though plenty of adults queue up for a turn as well. Staff are welcoming and patient, happy to let younger children choose a slower chariot if the leaping horses look too ambitious. A mobility lift means wheelchair users can join the ride, and the smooth timber deck around the carousel leaves room for prams to park without tripping anyone up. Even if you are just passing by, the pavilion is worth a pause. The historic steam engine sits on display behind glass, interpretive panels outline the restoration story, and a small kiosk sells coffee, ice cream and souvenirs shaped like tiny horses. On cooler evenings it is easy to linger with a hot drink, watching the reflections of the lights ripple across Corio Bay.

First time visiting the foreshore of Geelong and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely a city it is nestled on the shoreline. Great restaurants and the barge fish and chips restaurant would have to be one of the best fish and chip meals I have ever had and so reasonable for a very large portion. We have decided to holiday here next year. Very impressed !

Inside the visitor center, you can find displays about the carousel's history and the restoration process. You can enjoy a ride on this beautiful carousel for just $5! It's a delightful experience that combines a touch of nostalgia with the chance to learn about its rich history. Best meal I’ve had in a long time from a winery, just perfection. I have been dreaming about it and look forward to come back again. We also did the wine tasting which was so informative and fun even if I didn’t have the wines (I just sat in as I was the driver for the day). Shout out to Gerald for a memorable experience in the tastings. Overall a wonderful experience - grounds were beautiful, tasting was so fun and educational, great service and the food was absolutely sensational. Highly recommend.

The lunch menu with wine pairing was pretty good, and the wine tasting came free with lunch, which was amazing. Josh, who assisted us with the tasting, was very patient and never rushed us even though it was past 4 p.m., so we could truly enjoy the wines. We ended up buying 10 bottles and will definitely be back! 🥂✨

Ruth and the entire team were incredible—both in the lead-up and on the day itself. The venue was perfect, the food was exceptional, and the service was flawless. The setup was stunning, and every guest had an amazing time. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Thank you Ruth!

We had the best wine tasting experience here at Scotchman’s Hill after trying various vineyards across Victoria over the years. Gerard, the gentleman who took us through the experience is knowledgeable, detailed oriented and lots of fun. We learnt so much about various varieties and how best to enjoy them. The wine tasting experience is done leisurely and he’s not calculative ;-) The varieties are great here, so hard to pick the best ones. We bought a bottle each. Great positive and uplifting vibes here, made possible by all the fun staff. We highly recommend it!! Would come back for the highly acclaimed meals when we visit again.

First time experiencing a wine tasting session with my partner and we absolutely loved the experience. Felipo was the lovely gentleman that served us that day. He guided us through all the different wines and gave us many interesting facts about each wine which elevated the entire experience. Definitely recommend any new wine lover to come an experience a wine tasting at Scotchmans Hill Winery.

The highlight of our holiday so far in terms of food and wine. Josh was so welcoming and helpful. Great wines to be enjoyed. The food in the restaurant was some of the best we’ve had. Great staff were so friendly and lovely to chat to. The views across the bay are stunning. The grounds are so relaxing to walk around. In 33 years of my wife and I going around different wineries we have never been asked our names. Josh not only asked but remembered. It’s been many years since we first came here but we will not make that mistake again. This time we will return soon. Highly recommended.

The National Wool Museum, located in a beautifully restored 1872 bluestone wool store near Geelong's Waterfront, is a must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts. It offers insight into the city's role in the wool industry and presents the Australian story of wool fiber and textiles through hands-on exhibits, workshops, and curated galleries.
I visited the National Wool Museum yesterday and it was a fascinating experience. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing Australia’s wool industry from its early beginnings to modern day production. One of the highlights for me was learning about the deep connection between Australia’s Aboriginal people and the land as well as their historical contributions to the industry. The exhibits are well organized featuring interactive displays, historical artifacts, and even a working wool processing machine. The museum presents not just the technical aspects of wool production but also the social and cultural impacts making it an educational and engaging experience. Overall I highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in Australian history, textiles or just looking for something unique to do in Geelong. It’s a great place to appreciate how wool shaped Australia’s economy and culture over the years.

Very informative. I enjoyed it very much. I loved how they talk about not only the machinery but also other aspects such as animal welfare. The wildlife photography exhibition on the first floor is also amazing.
Sandali M — Google review
Loved the experience. The place seemed quite small and humble on the outside but packed a good amount of content inside, especially for the price. It went into detail about the whole process of wool production, with machines on display and images+text to explain the process. On the day we went, there was also a guy actually operating the central machine which is cool to see. Leave approx. 1 to 2 hours to experience the place. Really great place if you’ve got a bit of time and a couple bucks spare. Would recommend.

The Wool Museum was really interesting, but what we loved the most was the photography section! I wish they had stamps, stickers, or tickets as souvenirs instead of just the receipt—it would have been great for my journaling. I’d definitely visit again!

🌳 Fantastic Family Park & Coastal Pool Opening Soon! Visited this lovely park in Geelong today during our holiday, and it was a great time despite the chill. The well‑equipped play area kept the kids entertained, with plenty of open grass, picnic and BBQ facilities, and clean amenities. The views of Corio Bay were simply stunning—perfect backdrop for family photos and sandy play. We were delighted to learn that the children’s sea pool at Eastern Beach—just by the park—is set to reopen from 1 November through to April. The shallow wading area, with its diving tower, springboards and fountains, is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season . That gives us another seaside treat later this year! Highlights: Great for kids: Playground zones + space for running games Amenities: BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, showers Scenic spot: Art-deco boardwalk, sea baths, diving platforms Seasonal bonus: Children’s pool opens 1 Nov–21 Apr, with lifeguards on duty Despite a crisp spring breeze, our crew had a blast. Can’t wait to visit again in November when the sea pool reopens—another fun swim to add to our Geelong holiday plans!

Beautiful, well kept botanical gardens with lots of small paths and areas to sneak off to and see the beautiful birds and butterflies that are attracted to the area. I would advise picking up the map so you can check out the special plants that are there - I can't remember exactly, but there's a good number of heritage listed trees that are worth seeing just because you may find it hard to see them elsewhere! A giant redwood (Sequoia) is one of the areas, which is definitely worth seeing as well as a plant that looks like it's being chained to the ground - I don't remember what it's called but it looks impressive and I've definitely never seen one before! A bonus is that entrance is free and there is a small outdoor cafe that I assume is open seasonally (?) - sadly it wasn't open when I was visiting. It also wasn't crowded when I visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. With its location so close to the waterfront, it's worth visiting if you're in the area to take a break or just to see the butterflies!

First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door. Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

Little Creatures Brewery is a fantastic spot to visit, especially if you have kids in tow. They’ve got a small playground and some fun games to keep the little ones entertained while you enjoy a fresh beer straight from the source. The industrial-style atmosphere adds to the charm, making it a unique and lively place to hang out. While the food isn’t the highlight, the overall experience—being right next to the brewery and soaking in the laid-back vibes—definitely makes up for it. Worth a visit for the drinks and atmosphere alone!

We have been before to buy drinks however this is our first time dining here. Service was quick, food was great and the atmosphere was nice. The burger was really good and fresh, same as the flake. Only downside was the marg pizzas, the sauce they used was lacking flavour and the pizzas were quite dry. However we would definitely come back if we are in the area
Joshua D — Google review
Went here for drinks and dinner with friends.. The ambience of this place was good. We ordered few pizzas which were so so delicious. The service was super quick. The Arancini's portion was a bit small but overall it was delicious. Also the brownie with icecream is a MUST try. So good. Although I wasn't happy with the drinks menu that was available for that night. Obviously the variety of Beer was fantastic but there wasn't alot of variety in cocktails, mocktails or Wines. The kids area here was fantastic too. And the staff was wonderful.

Beautiful farm, great service (very kind and funny lady) and delicious Berries. Prices are shockingly good, so many plants to pick from. Absolutely loved our experience here! Granted it was last season (sorry it’s taken a while to post!) but I absolutely had to leave a positive review. Friendly and helpful staff member, and ultimately amazing natural produce! At the time strawberries weren’t fruiting, but the blueberries definitely were and tasted phenomenal!

We had an amazing experience - the fruits are fresh and the place is so well Organised, people were so respectful to everyone around. But also to the way picking was done. You hardly see any fruits on the ground and the place is well structured - you know where you should go to Do the picking We have already recommended the place go our friends

Great activity for small kids (and big ones too!). The strawberries weren’t ready on the day but we picked a bucketful of blueberries,, enjoyed them fresh and made some yummy jam. They have a small cafe serving coffee, muffins and delicious berry ice cream. Worth a visit.

Lots of blueberries to pick and reasonably priced. The strawberry field said open for picking although we were not able to get any, because there were not any lol! Thought we will get some if we got there early (9:30am Saturday) but maybe better luck next time for us :-). We got good blueberries though so was not a total loss.

Go and visit!

Lots of blueberries and strawberries to pick. Make sure to keep the doors close to each area to keep out the birds. Lovely friendly staff, and the blueberry and strawberry soft serve was a real treat for the kids. Snacks also available with a mini shop for food goodies to take home. Lots of parking available, public toilets and outdoor sitting area.

We had the most enjoyable morning out at the farm. Plenty of rooms for the kids to run around and play and interact with farm animals. Before we picked blueberries we had possibly the best strawberry milkshake! Blueberry pick was very easy, even with a small baby in a pram. It’s very shaded and well netted. Kids were entertained and picked for about half an hour. We filled a small bucket and it only cost $8 - amazing value given the amount of time we spent there. Will make this an annual visit at least!

Flea & Street Markets
Mornington Racecourse is a popular venue known for its diverse offerings. The racecourse hosts a bustling market with over 300 stalls, offering an array of homegrown and homemade items. The well-treed site provides shade in summer and protection during colder months, making it an ideal spot for regular market-goers. Additionally, the venue hosts concerts, drawing music enthusiasts for hours of entertainment, good food, and drinks.
This occasion we attended Mornington Racecourse was for the 2025 Naidoc Ball. Food and Food Service by Waiters was excellent, the wait staff were quite approachable for any questions or requests. Very professionally presented and organised by Racecourse Hosts and Wait Staff. Very efficient. Good time had this year. Music 🎶 was a bit too loud this time as you had to yell to speak to the person next to you, but overall great.

For public events like concerts that I attended in the Mornington racecourse, you must carry your own chairs as this racecourse does not have any built-in seats. No permanent toilets. So the conditions of the temporary toilets were very bad - there was no water for flash or to wash hands!! There was no backup plane by u for rain or muddy fields. There weren't enough water stations for (only 2) local traffic management was okay.

We went for the monthly markets and found the $5 parking option to be very well organised and easy to enter and exit with plenty of parks for a number of cars. The markets were mainly high quality craft and food based. It was very easy to walk around and a great way to spend a Sunday morning.

Mornington Market is a great day out to look at local products and sample some nice food truck delights. It’s only $5 for parking be sure to have cash on hand and there is loads of parking. There are nice areas for a picnic 🧺

Omg.. I've never done an outdoor concert, and my partner and I were a bit worried about what it was going to be like..First off, we started with 1927, amazing, as good as they were in the 80s, Then we moved on to the wonderful Southern sons, Jack Jones and the band were in fine form, Jacks voice is absolutely amazing 👏, we thought things were going ok, Then Kate Cebrano came on, WOW WEE!!!..Does she have a stage presence that blows you away ❤️, her voice is wonderful and her enthusiasm is beyond amazing..Then we had the lovely Daryl Braithwaite, he is good and been around forever. Then the one we really wanted to see Richard Marx, an amazing performer, and he was very humbled by the crowds reactions, by us being able to sing nearly every word to every song he sang 🥰.And to finish off an amazing day the Queen of Australian music(I'm sure there are a lot of others that can hold this title)🤣..The one and only Tina Arena, her singing as always was so perfect and she finished out an amazing day of bands. So, all in all, take a risk on the weather and get yourself to an outdoor concert at Mornington racecourse 😍. I'm so glad we went, BYO camp chair and small esky, and we were set 👍.Yes, food is very expensive but a lot of places are these days.

📍 Good historical location. You can’t drive your private vehicle all the way to Point Nepean — parking is available only at the entrance. From there, you’ll need to take the shuttle service, which requires a paid return ticket purchased at the start. Note that the shuttle doesn’t operate all the time, so check the schedule beforehand. Alternatively, you can walk barefoot (or in comfortable shoes) for around 4–5 km. Plan at least 2 hours to fully enjoy the surroundings and the historic atmosphere.

The day was rainy with thunder and lightning, peaceful and the solitude I craved. Great walking tracks, asphalt the whole way. The up keep of the fort is good, an historic part of our past. Pack a picnic to share at the Quarantine Station, magnificence buildings.

Great history! Lovely walk around the grounds of the quarantine station at Point Nepean. I advise you to watch a short video about the quarantine station before your walk. Very interesting. There is a lovely little coffee van there on site, too.

Lots of fascinating points of interest along a spectacular scenic coastline. The old gun placements were great to walk around and you really felt in the moment walking through the tunnels under the point. The sites were well signposted with plenty of information detailing the point of interest. Great bus service to get you to the point without having to make the 3 km hike over some very steep hills.

Ferries
Searoad Ferries provides a picturesque route to Sorrento with multiple daily crossings from Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. The 40-minute journey offers stunning views of Port Phillip Bay. The reservation and ticketing process is seamless, with professional and friendly service staff. Onboard services are excellent, including clean seating areas and a cafe serving various snacks and beverages. Passengers can enjoy the sunrise during the early morning ferry ride or spot dolphins in the bay if lucky.
A very laid back, and yet incredibly professional operation, this is definitely the quickest and easiest way to get from Sorrento to Queenscliffe, and lets face it, its about a four hour drive if you go around the bay. Ships are easy to board whether on foot or with a car, and there are nice facilities on board as well, with a small cafe that also serves alcohol, so you can enjoy a glass of something whilst you cruise across. Some great views of the properties in Portsea as well.
Chris B — Google review
Booking was simple and quick. Customer Service from first lass at Sorrento greeting us through to the return trip, was amazingly brilliant. Everyone was friendly and very helpful to any passenger that required extra support. Coffee was lovely, the crossing was good and a lot of choices on where to sit. Highly recommend the ferry, fantastic way to relax instead of sitting in traffic from the Peninsula to Queenscliff. I was a foot passenger, parked my car up on the hill for all day parking. Took the 8am sailing from Sorrento and returned on the 5pm from Queenscliff.

Always great service this business. I have to highlight the help and assistance for my disabled friend. The lift didnt work on the older boat, and everyone was so assisting today. I was just doing a drop off and pick up, but thoughly impressed, even down to the wonderful staff in the ticketing area, who made great coffees.

I catch the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff every 2nd week and the process is so easy! The staff are fanatic at loading the cars carefully on the boat and the staff at the terminals and upstairs at the cafe are all so sweet and nice! It’s a 40 minute boat ride each way, once you’re on, you’re getting off, it goes so quickly!

A neat & tidy, comfortable and quick way to cross Port Phillip Bay... from Sorrento to Queenscliff (or vice-versa). Easy to board and disembark... on foot, or with a vehicle... and with food, drinks and gifts available on board.
Mervyn R — Google review
Took the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento for the first time, bringing our car along, and it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience! The cabin was clean and comfortable, and there was even a little café onboard. I wasn’t expecting much, but the almond croissant was absolutely delicious — seriously one of the best I’ve had, and only $5! The trip went by so quickly, just chatting and taking photos. If you’re planning a visit to the Mornington Peninsula for the hot springs but don’t want to drive all the way around, this is a perfect and relaxing option. Highly recommend!

Searoad Ferry - The Queen of The Ocean. Where do I begin.. I don't consider myself a particularly wealthy man, this was apparent when I first observed the customers on board. The ship seemed to be seperated, the fancy rich customers had there nose turned up towards us more middle / lower class. However I would be one lady from wealth, she is beautiful and elegant and I truly questioned why she would entertain a street rat such as myself. We first would share a few libations together and an elegant meal with the rest of the high-end customers. Afterwards we would attend the lower class area to which we then Irish danced together laughing and having the time of our lives. We then would sneak to the bow of the ship, I will never forget how I held her by her luscious hips, her arms fully extended out on the bow of the ship, as I thought "I'm king of the World". To finish off this truly amazing voyage, we snack back to the hold of the vessel, where we would share a night full of passion and romance. I would draw this stunning lady like one of my french girls before we would sneak into the back seat of a car to become.... Ummmm better acquainted. And now we are here, the vessel is getting close to our destination. It is extremely cold on the ship right now and I believe I see an ice berg in the distance. This would normally have me in a panic, however the staff are all extremely professional and they call this ship "The Unsinkable", I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about. All I can think about right now is when we finally land will I go back to my everyday life, or will I live a new life of magic and wonder with this women who I consider the love of my life. Whatever happens all I know is I will never let go Rose. Sincerely yours, Jack

I love these beautiful moments on this beach. A splendid natural. Love this beach so much...
Max N — Google review
I usually only leave a review when it's five stars, and I felt like every single one of them on Wednesday's winter's walk. Wild and remote and yet a stone's throw from where it's all happening, Sorrento beach and its surrounds leaves any hiker feeling content, comfortable and surprisingly warm away from the beach, protected as the climbs are by dense foliage. The dramatic vista to an Anglophile such as myself certainly hit the spot, and I plan on making the trip from Mornington at least three times a week. Take a packed lunch and make a day of it.
Phoenix S — Google review
Beautiful sunset views with the rough ocean waves and sandstone cliffs. A short clamber across the rocks on the far right will treat you to direct view of the setting sun, a more secluded beach and more cool rocks. Just make sure to be careful of the incoming tide. An amazing stop on our trip down south and would definitely come by again.
Yu Q — Google review
Sorrento Ocean Beach is no secret but is still one of my favourite beaches in the peninsula. This beach faces the Bass Strait, so the ocean is rougher, wilder, more dramatic which attracts surfers or people who like waves. If you like rugged coastline, rock pools, crashing waves and strong winds now and then, this place is awesome. Access is easy enough with plenty of parking around. There's a nice café with a good selection of food and drinks. I like to just grab a coffee and watch the surf and then either go for a hike up the lookout. There are also another longer walking track which hugs along the cliffs. The rock pools are a highlight, especially at low tide. The scenery is great for photos and attracts a family with kids playing and exploring in the rock pools. The beach itself has stretches of sand but also quite a few rocks in and around the water, which means swimming is risky in places. There are life saving flags at busy times, but it does get dangerous around the rocks or when the waves are big. Crowds pick up in summer, especially on weekends, so it can feel packed at peak times and parking can be a pain then. Overall though, it’s one of my favourite ocean‑beaches near Melbourne. It’s dramatic, beautiful, and feels like a proper ocean escape. Just bring your swimmers, hat, water, and respect the surf. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and a little awed.

Easy parking, great view. Toilets are pretty accessible too. Very windy especially when climbing up the stairs.

Sorrento beach has been my favourite for a long time. Went to the other side of beach earlier which was all over the rocks. However this time I got a chance to have a look on sandy side of the beach and that too over the sunset it was picture perfect. Kids were happy playing in the sand. The beach has a nice cafe just at the entry which you can try. There is a view point too at the top. Couldn’t go there though so can’t share any pics. But beach nice and clean with amazing views. Water is clean and blue .

Best beach for the summer. It’s got a pier to jump off, delicious food on the main road and even once found a gummy shark that’s been washed up. Sometimes you can even find friendly sting rays in the clear water. There’s nothing like going to rye on a 30 degree day. It’s so nice!

Split Point Lighthouse Tours

Split Point Lighthouse Tours offer a chance to explore the iconic Split Point Lighthouse, perched on a headland along the magnificent coast. The lighthouse was erected in the 1890s above the cliffs of Aireys Inlet to prevent shipwrecks, and since then, there have been no incidents in this area. Visitors can take a grand tour of this marine masterpiece and climb its coiling cast iron staircase to savor breathtaking views from the top.
What a terrific experience not only for the adults but also for the kids! The staff at the bottom and the top of the lighthouse were full of information, and we were really impressed how they included and engaged with the kids. We had terrific weather, so the view from the top was breathtaking! It's definitely worth the 130+ stair climb! Back down on the ground, there are a couple of lookouts that are again worth the walk. We were lucky enough to see a seal enjoying the water while we were there. If you're on the great ocean road, this is a must to add to your list!

Just incredible ocean and land views. Well worth the small fee to go up the lighthouse - it is stunning and interesting to learn about its history. A lighthouse that still works! Kind staff and just overall a great experience.
Fiona L — Google review
Visiting Split Point Lighthouse was a fantastic experience, especially for fans of the classic TV show *Round the Twist*. Seeing the iconic lighthouse in person brought back a wave of nostalgia, and it’s even more impressive up close than it appears on screen. The structure is beautifully maintained and stands proudly against the stunning coastal backdrop of Aireys Inlet. One of the highlights of our visit was the guided tour. The volunteers on duty were incredibly friendly, approachable, and full of fascinating information about the lighthouse’s history and operation. They were more than happy to answer questions and shared many interesting stories about how the lighthouse functioned in the past. Their passion and knowledge made the visit even more engaging. The cost of the tour is very reasonable — $12.50 for adults and $11 for kids — and well worth it for the experience. Climbing to the top is a bit of a workout, but completely manageable, and the reward is absolutely worth it. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, offering sweeping vistas of the rugged coastline and sparkling ocean below. It’s a perfect spot for photos and a moment to take in the natural beauty of the Great Ocean Road. Split Point Lighthouse is more than just a historic site — it’s a fun and educational outing for families, couples, and history buffs alike. Highly recommended for anyone passing through the area. We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re nearby.

Childhood nostalgia unlocked. Those who remember the old Australian TV show Around The Twist, know exactly what this lighthouse is. Pay the money, climb the stairs and you'll do yourself a great favour. The views are amazing and honestly the best. Parking is pretty easy. Just make sure you park not in someone's driveway and a nude my local parking laws.

It was an amazing experience, especially if you haven't been inside a lighthouse before. The view was spectacular and it is a must see if you stop by in aireys inlet. However, it is a paid experience.

We visited yesterday May 26th. Our guide was really good. So passionate and gave us such interesting information. The view from the top was beautiful. This is a great stop when driving the Great ocean road. The general store in Airey's Inlet is also a good stop if you need to pick up things.

We get a traffic fine of wrong parking here. Our car was parked on off road area but opposite the traffic direction, which is parked at the right side, but left side is infront of resident which will block them. Unless make a u turn & park as follow direction. Surprise that we get fine, have emailed to the authority but rejected, as we r foreign tourist & never obstruct any traffic, it was quite full parking & a few cars get fine, be aware! The toilet is far away 500m from light house, recommend b4 u reach, turn right at the junction to the toilet which is nearer to sea side, then drive up again to the entrance.

Memorial Arch at Eastern View

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
This wooden arch & statue commemorates the work of returned WWI soldiers who built Great Ocean Road.
This Memorial Arch, the gateway to the Great Ocean Road along Victoria coast. The arch was built in honour of the returned soldiers who worked on the road and its creation during World War I. Construction on the Great Ocean Road started in 1919 and they completed the 243 kilometres stretch of road in 1932. It is a popular destination stop and there is a large car park to park your vehicle. Easy terrain, lot of easy walking. You can access the beach from here. Free entry. Great place for photography. Popular with tourists especially.

Stopped on our way to Lorne, limited parking but since it was a Monday we had no problem. Really nice stretch of beach and the Arch is pretty cool. Certainly worth stopping if you're driving by.

This is a must-see when visiting the Great Ocean Road, as it’s literally the entrance 🤣. Stop by to snap some photos of the Memorial Arch and learn about the history behind the road. A quick stop would do, but it would definitely be memorable.

2025/10 Memorial Arch at Eastern View The Memorial Arch at Eastern View is one of the most famous landmarks along Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. It was built to honor the soldiers who served in World War I, many of whom helped construct the road upon their return. The Great Ocean Road itself is considered the world’s largest war memorial. The arch marks the official gateway to the scenic coastal route and features commemorative plaques explaining its historical significance. Visitors often stop here to take photos and learn about the heroic efforts of the soldiers who turned the rugged coastline into one of Australia’s most beautiful drives.
