Very interesting and comprehensive museum. Everything from, Australian, local history and international. Great photos and examples of surfers, boards, competitions, trophies. A large theatre shows a very well put together film history with great information about many aspects of surfing life, famous faces and board development and manufacture. Great gift shop and welcoming staff.

The museum’s collection of vintage surfboards and memorabilia tells a powerful story of evolution, of how surfing shaped communities, lifestyles, and even attitudes toward the sea. We couldn’t help but laugh as we tried the interactive surfing simulators; balancing on those boards (without actual waves!) proved to be both humbling and hilarious. What truly stood out was the museum’s ability to blend education with emotion. Every exhibit seemed to honor not just the athletes, but the pioneers who turned surfing into a symbol of freedom and connection. The visuals, the storytelling, and even the soundtrack of rolling waves made the experience feel alive. As we left, we found ourselves reflecting on how surfing isn’t merely a sport, it’s a philosophy of movement, balance, and respect for nature. Visiting the Australian National Surfing Museum reminded me that great experiences don’t just teach us about history, they invite us to feel part of it.

It's a small, but lovely museum. Staff is friendly. The exhibition tells you how Australia became a surf country, thanks to Hawaiian surfers. It also teaches you about the evolution of the boards. It does, however, feel more like a local surf museum rather than a national one. As a non surfer (there's no surfing possible where I live), I would have loved to learn more about the surfing itself. Technique explanations, the best spots of Australia explained, etc are a few topics that would be a great addition. Other than that, I enjoyed it. The family rate of $25 is a fair price, when you come with 2 young children.

A great museum where I learnt a lot about Australian surfing champions. Saw surfboards from the original wooden ones with no fins to the up to date lightweight boards with 3 fins. A tour guide took us around and his explanations were great, including a movie of surfers catching some huge waves.

Fantastic experience, really enjoyed learning about surfing history particularly the history within Australia and all the competitions, would love to see more on Aboriginal culture and surfing history in future but really enjoyed it. I loved the gift shop too, lots of cool local goodies and very friendly staff, cheers :)

A great Museum bought back many memories of the younger surfing days

We went there to learn a little more about surfing. They did a good job, but some of the facts are due to adjust. We spent over 2 hours, which says it all: worth a visit! We enjoyed it!

The Torquay Farmers Market is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy fresh, locally-sourced produce in a relaxed and friendly setting. From the moment you arrive, the convenience of easy parking makes the visit stress-free, and the atmosphere is welcoming with a genuine community vibe. The market offers a great selection of seasonal fruits, vegetables, and artisan goods. The locally made pies are absolutely delicious — warm, hearty, and packed with flavour. We also picked up some local honey, which was beautifully rich and full of natural sweetness. Prices across the market are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and freshness of the produce. It’s clear that the vendors take pride in what they offer, and many are happy to chat and share information about their goods. If you're in the area on a market day, Torquay Farmers Market is well worth a visit. Highly recommended for food lovers and families alike.

Cute little market with lots of local produce for sale. Small range of food, enough for us to have a small picnic in the grass area. The borek is a MUST try!! The giant spring roll was also delicious.

Its very small but it does have some great fresh produce. Most things are expensive but of high quality. Standouts for me are the donuts.

It's a really nice market, not a big one, but it has a lot of really good quality products. My favourite would have to be the 'taste of tibet' - best fresh rice paper rolls ever, which goes so well with their amazing fresh home made chilli sauce - I've visited the market just for these and their momos are really good too. Other delights at the market include delicious hand made giant fried spring rolls, fluffy and not too sweet custard donuts, sauces, jams, cheese, fresh produce, fresh flowers etc. There's a grass patch where you can picnic with your own mat or make a seat from a few available milk crates. Parking spots are quite tight but you should be able to find one considering the in/out traffic flows.

Just a quick stop before heading to Apollo Bay. Bought fresh fruits and veges and they are super cheap. Also variety of products to be choose. And an ATM also placed there.

Torquay farmers market is a small weekend market with a reasonable range of stalls. Fresh fruit and vegetables Artisan cheese Berries Coffee Bread Olives and olive oil Fresh juice Artistic jewellery Pictures Cordial Durkah Dog treats Timber items Fish monger Farmers meat Sewn gifts All the main things you'd generally need. You won't need to be here for very long to see everything. Easy to drag around the kids or your partner.

Im a big chicken to me it was scary undertaking. But man, I'm so glad I did it. What a view unbelievable. It was a stunning day, and flying down the coast was just magnificent, you are not getting this experience any other way. Do it. I declined the acrobatics.. see big chicken.

From this place you can have 12 Apostles Flights in Torquay. Have got different options to view and explore 12 Apostles and a great ocean road area. Sky diving option is also available. Didn't take the flight on this occasion but will do next time when I visit this area. For prices visit their web site. Approximately flight time is 1 hour.

We got our father a Tiger Moth flight for his 70th birthday. The guys on the day were fantastic. The pilot was friendly and fun, and us family members on the ground thought it was great as well. Our Dad absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend this as a present and I am going to book it for myself on my 50th.

It was an Amazing experience staff were friendly funny and professional, the flight was an adrenaline pumping heart stopping experience only down side was the video camera malfunction so have no video of my flight

Unbelievable public toilet experience!!! The paper was as soft as angle wings and the seat as clean as an eshays TNs. Honestly couldn’t recommend a public toilet any more than this specimen right here!!!! Wondrous experience just lovely 🥰

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We ducked into Frontbeach Taphouse on a chilly winter day and could not have picked a better spot. The cosy interior and gas fireplace made it feel instantly welcoming. Service was friendly and efficient and the menu was packed with delicious options. Our table ordered the halloumi and beetroot salad with added squid which was absolutely amazing. The pan fried gnocchi was just as good as it sounds, rich, comforting and full of flavour. The kids demolished their burgers in record time which is always a good sign. A great find in Torquay and we will definitely be back.

Nice taphouse - good selection of beers, nice snacks, good atmosphere. I had a Better Beer-Battered Rockling and it was good, nothing special. One complaint though: the waitress took my plate away although I had my cutlery placed on the plate showing that I was not finished … working in service one should be familiar with that kind of thing.

The location was great with a beautiful view — definitely a highlight. The fries were nice and crispy, but the coffee was just okay and the chai latte was disappointing. It didn’t quite meet the expectations set by the place itself. I might come back for the view, but I hope they improve their coffee standards.

Quite a cosy restaurant with sufficient space, and there were enough seats for all of us. Service was excellent and all the meals arrived within a reasonably good time enabling us to enjoy our lunch. The food itself was amazing and was sufficient enough to fill an adult. Food portions were good, and also wasn't too pricey. Overall, a splendid experience.

Had a great night at this restaurant. Lovely spot. Great atmosphere. The food was delicious. I think the restaurants in Torquay should always have oysters on the menu. I wanted oysters every night. I think oysters should be a must, especially thru peak season. Overall had a blast at the Frontbeach Taphouse. ❤️

We googled best F&C in Torquay & this place was top of the list. We wanted takeaway but it wasn't advertised very well so we sat in. We ordered just the basic fish & chips $25. Wow, just wow!! The fish was so fresh, the batter was so light & I the tatar sauce - well I just wanted more for the house made chips...

Fisho's in Torqay on the esplanade is your quintessential "dinkum" Seafood Restaurant. Great location, great atmosphere, excellent food and service. I have added photos of the Menus, text added o show date 6 October 2025. We had the Fish and Chips of the day, with the Trevally fish (eat-in). The Sharks-fin table numbers are quaint! Highly recommended. Thank you!

What an experience, customer service is next level we were instantly made to feel comfortable The fish tacos are absolutely delicious and urge people to try them! The swordfish skewer was also unreal! The fresh cut chips are so delicious too! 10/10 we will be back!

Amazing fish and chips just up from the beach. Gorgeous place with a lovely atmosphere. The guy working was so lovely, chatting to us and giving advice for where to stop along our great ocean road trip. Would definitely recommend.

THE BEST FISH AND CHIPS EVER. I know you hear this often but a simple order of fish and chips was anything but. The order was quick to the table. The fish was fresh, well cooked and had a crispy batter. The hand cut chips were rustic and perfectly cooked. All round very enjoyable experience.

Fresh fish made to order either grilled or fried. Surprisingly the grilled Marlin with chimichurri was the highlight. The grilled corn additional side was cooked perfectly!🌽 Front of house staff was super helpful and friendly with advising what was on special and how to order.

Expensive for very very bland food. Entire menu is Vegetarian with great environment and service. They have all ingredients right accept taste to the food, paid $7 change for an oat meal coffee, TBH big mistake, should have gone to Geelong and had something for much lesser. Will try avoiding this venue.

Busy but relaxed cafe with good service. Seating inside or outside to suit the weather. You should be able to find a tasty snack from the simple menu. However the thick shack was not thick, it was the same as a milkshake.

Don't forget to order toasted burrito, one of the best I ever had , you won't be disappointed and a normal eggs on toast , made to perfection. Don't miss the coffee, you'll surely comeback for the other

Went with my partner and some friends last weekend and had such a great time! The vibes were super warm and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious, and the coffee was spot on. You can really feel the good energy from the new management/owners, they’re doing a fantastic job. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area… and honestly, even if you’re not, it’s worth the drive!

This place is a hidden gem in Torquay! I loved it so much that I visited twice in two days. The staff are super friendly, the food is delicious and the cafe itself is perfect for meeting up with friends or spending time reading or catching up on work. The breakfast burrito was so so good - highly recommend!!

The vegetarian café offers both egg and dairy-free options as well as fully vegan choices in a charming indoor and outdoor setting. Though not a vegetarian, I enjoy its delicious offerings.

Amazing food at a fair price. Atmosphere is nice however a small eating area with some big tables for groups. Coffee is nice and well made. Works recommend for a nice Saturday morning breakfast.

Last night , as a treat we ordered a meal . It was extremely expensive and disappointing. The caesar salad looked like it was 3 days old and from a pre-packaged supermarket. The quality was terrible. The lettuce was translucent and brown. Limp and looked old. I contacted the restaurant as soon as we got it home . The supervisor said he would quickly chat with his manager then call me back. I never got that call back. .. I then took the salad into the restaurant tonight to show them . Nothing but an apology was offered and a free salad for next time we come. Sorry but that is such a joke. Obviously I'll never go back. You are charging top dollar for your food. And it's just not up to standard. Your staff have shown absolutely no care. No customer care. A refund would be the bare minimum. Give this restaurant a miss.

We had a lovely time at Squires Loft. Sheila was amazing, super attentive. She checked in on us and made sure we were happy with everything that came with the set menu. Her service really made our night enjoyable. Thanks so much Sheila and team!

OH WHAT A SHAME I’ve dined at Squires Loft several times over the years. While the service has never been outstanding, the food has usually made up for it — until tonight. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. From the moment we tried to book, it felt like a chore for “Moosa,” the so-called host. His attitude was dismissive from the start. When my meal arrived — a 300g Scotch fillet ($59) — about a third of it was simply inedible due to excessive fat, tough enough that even my knife struggled to cut through. I pointed it out and showed Moosa, who simply responded with “ok” and a smug smile. I wasn’t expecting a refund or compensation, but his rude and careless attitude was not what you’d expect from any restaurant, let alone one at this price point. Sadly, my family and I have decided to cross Squires Loft Torquay off our list. There are so many great local options offering both excellent food and friendly service, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. 1/100 for Moosa. 2/5 for the restaurant.

I visited on Thursday night with my family to celebrate my birthday and we ordered the Black Angus Porterhouse, Scotch Fillet, and Porterhouse with mushroom sauce and chips. We also had the Greek salad and a bowl of greens. The dessert apple crumble was my fave part. The food was absolutely delicious, the waitress and staff were warm and friendly, and the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. I’ll definitely be returning!

Felt right at home from the moment we walked in. The owner and staff were so welcoming and clearly doing their best to look after everyone, even with a full house. We had the Angus scotch with a prawn skewer & Tomahawk—absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. Sitting by the fireplace made it even more special—warm, cozy, and just a beautiful vibe. So proud to have a local gem like this in Torquay. Great food, great service—highly recommend!

My partner and I had a wonderful time at Squires Loft Torquay. We shared the 1.2kg Black Angus T-bone, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. It was beautifully paired with a glass of Oakdene Pinot Noir, which complemented the steak superbly. The service was warm and friendly, making the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be back!

Service would get a 10 ⭐️ if I could add them! The staff were attentive, the restaurant was beautiful and had so much character and the food - perfectly cooked and seasoned steak! My mouth is watering just thinking back to it! All round amazing lunch! Thanks team! Can’t wait to come back soon.

Blackman’s Brewery, Torquay — Real Ones Know First thing first: The beers at Blackman’s? Solid. Reliable. Good times in a glass. They’ve got a great range of craft beers, seltzers, and other brews to match whatever mood you’re in. (Cider girlies and seltzer kings, you’re covered too.) The food? Mostly Mexican-style dishes with a solid lineup of wood-fired pizzas. It’s good — keep you happily snacking between beers. The vibe though? Elite. Casual, relaxed, everyone’s welcome. Friends, families, couples, babies in tiny bucket hats — there’s space for everyone. Big indoor and outdoor areas, chill music, and a crowd that feels more “Torquay locals” Live music was playing when I went — such a nice touch. The staff? Laid-back friendly team. Quick service. Bottom line: Blackman’s Torquay is a place you come to relax, laugh too loudly, sip something nice, and forget about your to-do list for a bit.

The brewery looked dark from the outside and we almost didn’t enter, but I’m very glad we did! We sampled 6 beers in the tasting paddle and several were among the best of their kind we have ever tried! The ginger beer and cider are also amazing! It is a very family friendly environment with a mini golf course attached and a sandpit outside for young children and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We had lunch here having nachos and the chicken burrito bowl, both being very delicious too. I’m glad we walked to this side of town and ate here!

The team are friendly and nice Good vibes Cold chips and burnt margherita pizza. I didn't want to say anything as they were busy. Not great for basic 101 food even though they were busy. Last year when we came there were tacos which were great and all good for big table were warm. Disappointing food today but still good vibe. Check out kitchen operations and equipment.

This was my first visit to Blackmans Brewery in Torquay, and while I was looking forward to it, I left disappointed by the unprofessional conduct of one staff member. We sat outside in the undercover area with heaters, but the heaters at our table and the one beside us kept switching off. I tried restarting them and even helped the table next to us, but with no success, so I turned the gas off to make them safe. When a staff member came out, she spent some time struggling to get them going. After waiting, I mentioned that the gas had been turned off. Instead of acknowledging this, she replied with, “I know what I’m doing,” in a condescending tone and gave a dismissive look to her coworker. It felt unnecessarily rude and unprofessional. She then went back inside without fixing our heater and didn’t return for quite some time. Sitting in the cold was not an option, especially as I’m pregnant, and unfortunately the space inside didn’t cater for our large group to sit together — through no fault of their own — so we had no choice but to leave. When I later asked the table next to us why she hadn’t turned ours back on, they said they didn’t want to be involved in “drama,” and that she had remarked “she can get her own one going.” This was very disappointing and upsetting to hear, as it implied she had been gossiping about me. I understand hospitality is a tough industry — I’ve worked in it for many years — but professionalism and respect are non-negotiable. Sadly, this staff member fell short. It is especially saddening as this same female staff member has been mentioned in previous poor reviews, and the venue is condoning her mistreatment of their guests.

Wanted to go there for a while and the place is really nice and accomodating. The food we ordered was really good, very tasty and the fish was beautiful. Love the tacos - would love more prawns in it tough. The place wasn’t that busy for a Father’s Day however they took some time to take the orders. We got the kids fish and chips instead of the classic one so we had to wait for our dish. We also ordered churros which we never got. The drinks were great and my husband loved the paddle - and the Prosecco was perfect for a warm sunny day I will try the grovedale one next time.

A wonderful place for a refreshment at the start of The Great Ocean Road.....And of course another of our brewery visits. The staff was lovely and welcoming and the whole brewery had a fun feel. We visited on a quiet Thursday lunch and I was driving so a small bevy for me. But the Pilzner was lovely. But we'd had Blackman's Brewery brews elsewhere and they are super tasty.
