Really lovely place for a walk. The park is huge with plenty of open space and nice, scenic paths that are calm and peaceful. It never feels too busy, which makes it perfect if you’re looking to relax and enjoy nature. There’s loads of parking available right nearby, so it’s easy to get in and out without hassle. A great spot to clear your head, go for a stroll, or just spend time outdoors. Definitely worth a visit!

As suggested, this is one of the best place to see sunset with Sydney icons in the frame: the Opera House and Bridge. Around this time a lot of people wandering around, chilling out or taking photos. It is close to Botanic Garden so can end up sitting here relaxing at the end of the trip before leaving. This is also popular place among photographers with great frame: both sunset, blue hours or night long exposure.

Beautiful place in the corner of the Botanic Gardens. Easy to find and once there you get some breathtaking views. Great day out for the family.

Walking along the river in the garden to Mrs.Macquarie’s Chair was my best experience in Sydney. The scenery was amazingly spectacular overlooking the Harbor Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the Rock. The gardens were so pretty and peaceful.

The chair itself is actually a little hidden away around the corner, so it's recommended to enjoy a better view closer to the edge facing the Opera House.

Very nice beach, we preferred this to Manly because it was more sheltered from the wind and the waves weren’t so intense. Also the people here were more relaxed, less posing than other beaches such as Bondi.

Such a wonderful beach and definitely not as crowded as other Sydney beaches simply because it’s not as well known as others. It’s family friendly and has lots of picnic areas and parking.

Great family beach. Short walk to the pools to the north and can traverse the rocks and through a cave to the south to Manly. Lots of cafes close to the area. Parking can get difficult during the afternoons and weekends, but it's very easy to see why.

Our family took a visiting work colleague from overseas on the 9-12 tour and it was a most enjoyable morning. Even though I've lived in Sydney my whole life, this was a perspective I've never had before. Enjoying a quiet, empty, picturesque beach and bush track like that, you'd think you were miles from anywhere. The views at the top were as beautiful as any in the world. Our children are 7 and 10, and if you're taking children, you can expect they will help paddle intermittently and take breaks, so it'd be good if they are with an adult capable of doing the majority of the work. Our guest enjoyed the experience very much, as did we all. Thanks to our guide, Stu!

Wonderful place

We had a fantastic day at the Australian Reptile Park! The park has an impressive collection of reptiles and Australian native animals — from snakes and crocodiles to koalas and Tasmanian devils. The kids especially loved feeding the friendly wallabies and kangaroos, and the highlight of the day was meeting Bluey and Bingo! The park also has lovely picnic areas and a great playground, making it a perfect spot for families to relax and enjoy the day. Highly recommended for a fun and educational outing!

We mainly visited the park for the Bluey show but everything else was great too. The place is nice, not too crowded and kids friendly. It's not huge like other zoos which makes the walking easier with young kids. It has a playground with shaded seats for parents. The shows were quite fun and entertaining and staffs were friendly and knowledgeable.

This was honestly really well done. It was obvious the staff cared about the animals the various medical works they support as well as having a nice well kept park. It was a bit expensive, but I can see how the money was being used unlike so many other places. This is definitely a recommend, especially on weekends

I had an amazing time visiting the Australian Reptile Park! The park is beautifully maintained, and you can tell the animals are really well cared for. There’s such a great variety — from reptiles and kangaroos to koalas and crocodiles — and everything is easy to see and enjoy. The staff truly make the experience special. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the animals. They took the time to answer questions, share fun facts, and make visitors feel welcome. You can really see how much they love what they do. Had a great day with my family. Little one age 3 was very excited, loved the playground there as well. Lots of little spots to have a picnic lunch or buy from the kiosk.

Cool place! The reptile talk was very good, the guy who did it was entertaining and clearly very knowledgeable. The spider section was a bit disappointing - more fake spiders than real ones! The gators and snakes were highlights, though.

Beautifully presented array of reptiles, Marsupials and arachnids. Very informative with talks throughout the parkland setting. Kangaroos grazing throughout the area, lovely picnic areas, fabulous for families and nature lovers.

I visited Terrigal Beach with my work friends, driving just an hour and a half from Sydney. These are photos from the sunrise that truly impressed me. There was a lovely beachfront market, people walking their dogs, and some enjoying coffee while watching the sunrise. The place is beautiful, with a great atmosphere and not too crowded. I absolutely love it here — it’s perfect for me, and I can’t wait to come back again.

We had such a beautiful time at Terrigal Beach,it's one of those places that instantly makes you feel relaxed and refreshed. The golden sand stretches wide and long, perfect for a peaceful walk or just lying back under the sun. The water was clean and calm, great for both swimming and just dipping your toes in. What really made the visit special was the vibrant but laid-back vibe. The beachfront is lined with charming cafes, little shops, and restaurants where you can grab a coffee or enjoy fresh seafood with an ocean view. We also loved the Terrigal Haven, a short walk from the main beach, perfect spot for snorkeling or watching the sunset. Parking was pretty easy to find, and the area felt safe and family-friendly. Whether you're going with friends, family, or on a solo getaway, Terrigal Beach has something for everyone. Can't wait to go back!

It’s not very busy and extremely underrated compared to the nearby, much more popular beaches such as the entrance. It has gorgeous views and is generally a nice place to visit.

A really beautiful beach. Can be crowded, especially on a weekend but it’s still a wonderful beach to come to. Terrigal Beach is one of the most popular beaches on the Central Coast . There is designated parking but that can get full very quickly especially when it’s busy. There is a small ocean rock pool tucked away into the cliff on the southern end of the pool and is patrolled all year for safe swimming. There’s good toilet and shower facilities and also handicapped toilets. The picnic areas include grassed areas and under cover picnic tables. There is also a fantastic walking path leading to the Terrigal Boardwalk. There’s plenty of cafes and restaurants around that you can grab something to eat. Unfortunately, the beach does not cater for people with accessibility needs. The view is stunning, so beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Buzzing place

We reached at 3:31pm and the talk lasted about 12-15 minutes. After which the pelicans left and went into the water. The talk was quite informative. It is a free experience and you may give a small donation at the end of the talk if you wish to. We came once before about 5 years ago and got a much closer experience with the pelicans as we arrived well before time. The pelicans were all over the place and we got an up close and personnel experience with them.

A fantastic free event with inspiring volunteers committed to helping injured birds and sharing their passion for the noble pelican. Well run and starts on time. Clearly popular son pays to come a little early.

Visited first time with family. 3.30Pm started to feed Pelican birds. It is waiting before 30 to 45 minutes. Selective crowds are gathering and watching the show. Very interesting to watch the show.

Everytime we have friends and relatives from overseas it's on our must do list. It used to be an amazing experience seeing the huge numbers of pelicans waiting to being fed. Some would wait their turn while others were flying in. Others flying out once they received their rewards. Now it's turned into a talk about checking the pelicans health. They have a small bucket of chopped up fish to hand out so only about a handful come to visit. Good on them for what they do. Pelicans are truly beautiful birds but I wouldn't drive 1.5 hours just to see a few birds for 15 minutes. We have them in Sydney too.

It was really lovely to see the pelicans being fed, the ladies were fabulous, and those cheeky pelicans gave us a great show of entertainment.

Visited after many years, still as attractive as before. The area has been renovated and the new water play area for kids is yet to open.

It was a fascinating talk and fun to be so close to these amazing birds. Young children may want to sit in the second row because the birds can get quite excited and accidentally swipe you with their huge wings.

We visited Norah Head Lighthouse while on a short stopover in Norah Head. It is an interesting place that has been preserved nicely and is maintained by volunteers. There are interesting information boards that highlight the history of the headland, including details of every shipwreck in the area since the 1800s. A very interesting place. Although there were no tours when we were there, volunteers do conduct tours when the weather is suitable.

A great place for a weekend or week day visit. You can have a guided tour up into the light house with spectacular views over the coast line. The lighthoise is open for tours 10.30 till 1.30 7 days a week. Alternatively you can walk around the lighthouse along the walkways. There are also great cafe's in the main street you can visit for lunch coffee of a quick bite to eat.

Located at 40 Bush Street, Norah Head, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 This was an amazing place. The views over the ocean were fantastic. We couldn’t get our past the gate which was locked but there is an accessible walkway from the car park 🅿️ leading past the cottages to the lighthouse. The lighthouse was built between 1901 to 1903 to protect ships travelling from Sydney to Newcastle . There are private tours on offer and to climb the stairs it cost $10 for adults and $5 for children. The cottages are also available to stay in. There is a small shop that offers some basic souvenirs and food/drinks. If you are feeling up to it, it’s definitely worth the climb to the top. It’s 100 steps and the views are stunning. You are blessed with 360 views of Norah Head. Be warned that the steps are narrow and it’s a spiral staircase. This was a memorable experience and I would definitely recommend a visit. A lovely place to have a walk around the rocks and little beaches but you need to be able to climb some stairs. The lighthouse and surrounds are easy Accessed by wheelchairs. Beautiful scenery

Highly recommend the Norah Lighthouse tour. Tour guides are very knowledgeable of the area and the lighthouse itself. Apparently, this area is great for whale watching too.

The tour of the light house is well worth doing. The tour guide was very informative and entertaining and the views were amazing. The lighthouse is a beautiful old structure.

we drove a little way to this big area with a few million trees and a few roads running through it. dunno why people r worried about global warming, i think we have lots of trees the road is bumpy. it has rocks on it. the light was soooo pretty tho. looks like one of those made up photoshop photo that people fake. like i was overdosing on prettiness. love how pretty it was. would be so cool for like photoshoots n stuff, we ate good food too. probably easy to get lost tho. dont get lost. the goannas might eat u. yum yum. dont get kidnapped. whe it get dark i can imagine u could get kidnapped. so jus dont be a kid and u wont get kidnapped. good for a fire.

Great little day trip with a variety of camping spots Easy walk to the waterfall. Heaps of cool look outs that are relaxing and have great aspects over Lake Macquarie Highly recommend as a quick weekend adventure.

Super relaxing and lovely forest 🌳 Full of different trees, plants, insects and more. Lovely place to go for a walk and listen the cicadas and waterfall. Is a bit complicated to go down the waterfall so is a track full of trees in the middle and big stones. Ideal for meditation or yoga if you like it and also was some people doing some climbing with a rope there too.

Beautiful place, going to the Falls is a must visit. You will love this place after visiting the Falls and spending some time there. You won't really be able to swim as the water is shallow. The path to reach the Falls will take about 45 min but worth the pain. NO PAIN NO GAIN. Some steep steps down, any kids should be watched on by a parent as getting down and coming back up is a hard journey. ❤❤. You will love the falls

Amazing Australian forest. Make sure to bring some mosquitos repelent b3cause you will definitely need one. Very humid environment. If you go down the waterfall treck you will have a refreshing reward at the end.

A relatively off the beaten path feel for National Park close to suburbia. Would be good for 4WD (mostly dirt roads) and mountain biking. Did a short loop walk through the rainforest which was good.

If you can visit on a weekday - it's alot quieter. Beautiful forest areas, some with fern lined roads. Lots of beautiful bird calls. Mostly need an AWD for access as there's often lots of potholes and some are quite deep. Wouldn't recommend a sedan in most parts. If a road says unmaintained - it is only for the seasoned 4WD drivers. Must take own food, water & drinks. Take away your own rubbish. Remember insect repellant & be prepared for leeches in damp areas. Be sure to check your maps before entering the park as there may be no service in some areas.

The view at Audrey Wilkinson is absolutely stunning, with one of the best vineyard outlooks in the Hunter Valley. It’s the perfect spot to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The wines are of good quality, especially the Semillon and Shiraz, which showcase the character of the region very well. However, the service was just average. While everything went smoothly, it lacked the warmth and attentiveness that would have made the experience truly exceptional. Overall, it’s still a great place to visit for the atmosphere and wine, but the service could be improved to match the high quality of the setting.

We had a wonderful wine tasting experience here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming—despite us arriving without a reservation, they kindly offered to seat us. The semillon was especially good, and the staff were extremely generous, offering us more than the standard tasting. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up purchasing a bottle to take home. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area!

We had such a great experience at this winery yesterday ! Mya did our wine tasting and she was absolutely amazing — she explained everything perfectly and made it super interesting, even for us who aren’t really into wine. Absolutely beautiful place! Went with my husband on a group tour of Hunter valley in May 2025. Such a stunning location and loved trying different flavoured wines. I am not a big wine drinker but have a big appreciation for this winery. Lovely spot to visit with your partner, friends and family 😊.

It's a wonderful place to unwind and take in the surroundings. The scenery offers a peaceful escape from the everyday hustle. Sipping on a refreshing drink here would be the perfect way to end the day. The atmosphere is ideal for relaxation and enjoyable conversations. Visiting here is surely a great experience.

Largest winery in Australia.. One of the best in the world with a variety of original locally grown finest wines .. From vineyards to production units to processing and bottling wines. Everything will demonstrated and of course with free wine testing facilities in a cosy friendly environment.. One can then buy as many.. There are multiple wine companies with good portfolio across the vast land of Hunter Valley gardens.. Comprising of multiple best quality gardens or more appropriately vineyards and wine tasting restaurants..n facilities.. People making and offering wine are highly experienced, friendly and always trying to explain and help choose the best quality and the type one is looking for.. Many souvenirs are also available.. It is a day long wonderful experience taking a few hours only

Located at 2090 Broke Road, Pokolbin, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺 I came to these gardens with my group of approximately 35 people, including people with walkers, to see the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular. It was well worth the visit. I absolutely loved it. For the most part, it is accessible for people with mobility issues but there are steps situated around the displays meaning backtracking was required in some instances. Not many though. There’s a couple of toilet 🚻 facilities located at the entrance and about half way through. There’s food vans near the Ferris wheel but they were closed when we went (about 8.30pm) . The amount of work and preparation that had to go into the displays is astounding. So many figurines lighted up. I really enjoyed my visit and took so many photos so remember to bring your camera and make sure to charge your battery in phone because there’s plenty of photo opportunities. Night Entrance (best for this Spectacular to get the full effects fees are - Adults (16+ years) $40.00 Children 4-15 years) - $30.00 Families (2 Adults, 2 Children) - $122.00 There’s always plenty to see during the day also. I would definitely recommend coming here, at least once. A BIG Thumbs up! 👍👍👍

Beautiful well kept gardens of many themes. Well worth the admission price. Extremely picturesque. Great for photo shoots. Great for exploring and enjoying the views and beauty of curated nature.

The gardens were an absolute blast, with so much to explore. Walking through the various themed areas, I felt like I was in a fairytale. The lights display at night was a mesmerizing experience. I definitely took a lot of photos to remember this fantastic trip.

Good venue , about a 5 to 10min walk to where the car was parked because there was heaps of people there. I reckon about 40,000. The concert was really good. The best Act was Vica and Linda Bulla with the guy from hunters and collectors , they also had the church band , and another brother and sister Act , and the last Act was crowded house. Venue was good. We went to the mosh pit at the first band on which was great. We're really close to the stage and it wasn't too crowded but as the afternoon went on it got more and more crowded in the mosh bit and there was a bit more push and shove. Still a great day out and I would recommend it. Certainly if you want to watch some bands and have a good time. Five stars.

Attended my beautiful friends wedding here! What a gorgeous location for such an event! The gardens are truly breathtaking. So many colours, smells and vibes!

HVG is such a great spot to spend time - great cafe, beautiful setting and fun shops. The Christmas Lights spectacular is on again and its beautiful for 2025! Lights were gorgeous even at 6pm when we got there for younger kids (all the growth in the garden makes patches dark enough to see them). Well worth a day out.

Just had lunch and a wine tasting with my girlfriend there. Lovely evening with great food and drinks. But most of all the service was the best out of all the wineries we visited in the hunter valley. We were served by Taylor all evening. She was very accommodating and very bubbly. We were both impressed by her service. Highly recommend anyone coming here if you stay in the hunter valley

Had a wonderful lunch at Harkham Wines Restaurant – absolutely divine! We enjoyed the tacos and salt & pepper squid, and every bite was packed with flavour. Tried the Hark Angel Shiraz from their natural wine selection and it was just lovely. The service was outstanding – warm smiles, friendly and informative staff who really looked after us. This place is definitely on our must-visit-again list!

Came for dinner on our first night in the Hunter, and this was the perfect welcome. Excellent food that seemed to be designed around the wines so the pairings were excellent. We loved it so much we came back the next day for the tasting and were lucky enough to be guided though it with Richie, the winemaker. Would recommend Harkham for food and wine!

Satisfied group of five! We were looking for a relaxed atmosphere with wine tasting and a bite to eat. We were greeted with warmness, and nothing was a bother. We tasted numerous wines and enjoyed amazing food (prawns, lamb, chicken, aranchini...the lust goes on). Beautiful atmosphere, even better chocolate liqueur! Very happy. Thank you ❤️

Absolutely beautiful experience! Harkham in the Hunter Valley is such a charming and peaceful place. The wine is exceptional — especially the natural wines, full of character and flavour. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and make you feel right at home. The atmosphere is relaxed with stunning views and a real personal touch that makes the visit unforgettable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the Hunter Valley — a true gem! 🍷✨

The food was great, but the manager was extremely arrogant and condescending. Coming from a hospitality background myself, I was genuinely shocked by his attitude and lack of customer service. From the moment we walked in, he made offhand comments about how “people in the Hunter need to calm down,” which immediately set the tone. They had run out of several menu items, and when we ordered Tommy’s margaritas, they arrived overly smoked with mezcal, watery, and without salt. When we mentioned this, the manager refused to remake them in the traditional style and responded with passive-aggressive comments about how he “knew best.” Throughout our meal, tables around us remained cluttered with empty plates, and the music, loud metal, felt completely out of place for the setting. Overall it was a disappointing experience, despite the food being great and our waitress doing her best.

The Vineyard was very pretty and the guide was very very informative. I have taken tours of many Vineyards and wineries around the world, and this guide really knew her enology and viticulture. It would’ve been a wonderful tour and tasting, except for the fact that at the end she was making fun of one of the wines that we actually wanted to bring home. Which made things a little awkward. It was one of the sweet wines, and I usually love a big red Cabernet, and lived near the California wine region for many years, and was accustomed to California wines, but have grown a fondness for other regional wines, including Australia, and was really enjoying some of their Pinots, but also some of the sweeter wines which are really not offered much in California vineyards. And so we were looking forward to bringing some of the sweeter wines back, and it was really offputting that the guide was sort of making fun of them, because then we felt really odd buying them. Spoiler alert: we bought them anyway! But she made us feel like a little bit of a dummy that we wanted to buy them. I know that a more sophisticated palate would’ve bought some of the other wines, but that’s not what we wanted.

Always a pleasure to visit this boutique winery. Even the local Roos came out to say hi and lounge in the sun amongst the vines. Excellent wines, friendly and knowledgeable team…. Always welcoming to me and my furry companion Thanks guys, looking forward to catching up again soon

I visited the Hunter Valley for the first time recently and did a wine tasting at Ernest Hill Wines with the lovely Lesley. The wine was incredible (I am so disappointed I didn't grab more to bring back to Adelaide 😔) and Lesley was so incredibly friendly, welcoming, passionate and knowledgeable! If I could give this experience more than 5 stars I would! Thank you so much Lesley for making my visit to Ernest Hill so memorable 🥂🍇🥰

We had a great wine tasting with Leslie in the Hunter Valley. She was friendly, easy to chat with, and really knew her stuff without making it feel formal or rushed. Leslie explained each wine clearly and made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. You could tell she genuinely enjoys what she does. Would definitely recommend booking a tasting with her if you’re in the area.

We loved hearing about the family history behind the wine names — such a personal touch. The kangaroos were fascinating to see, and it was interesting to learn how they pose unique challenges for winemaking (definitely not something we deal with in the States!). The winery has a calm, homey, and welcoming vibe that made the visit especially enjoyable. While the dessert wines stood out to us, it was really the overall atmosphere that made this experience so memorable.

Not a wine fan, on my first wine tour! The guys at Ernest Hill were very welcoming and happy to answer a load of questions. The wines on offer we really nice, and each served woth some more education about wine tasting. Would happily go back to sample more and hopefully buy a bottle or two.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience at Petersons House restaurant! From start to finish, everything was flawless. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a beautiful meal. The service was impeccable, and the food was simply exceptional. The lamb rack was to die for—perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavour. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and exceeded expectations. The whole dining experience was such a pleasure and the deconstructed lemon meringue was nothing short of sensational – the perfect finish to an amazing meal. Our grandchildren were also so well catered for and entertained with the activity book waiting for them at the table on arrival, which made the experience even more special. Petersons House is a true gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be returning!

Our experience at Restaurant Cuvée was delightful! Warm welcoming hosts and wonderful setting under the trees looking across the vines. We were treated to a yummy lunch of zucchini flowers, fresh sourdough, lamb rack and rocket salad. Indulgent and great food! Complimented with great bubbles and followed up with a shared dessert of pavlova and exquisite Davidson plum ice cream! Kim was our waiter and she was so lovely. The perfect combination of friendly conversation and professional service. Kim enhanced our experience and was so nice to both of us and our dog, Betty. Highly recommend a long lunch here !!!

Had a large group for a birthday lunch, the venue were very attentive and accommodating with any requests. Had the group set menu choices, the food was very good and the service excellent, I had the beef which was delicious and perfectly cooked and I really enjoyed the sauce

Peterson House is an absolute dream to shoot! I love that I can get ceremony shots inside and then change up the lighting with the sandstone chapel outside all in one place. Blackbut Reserve is such an amazing place for nature and photography lovers. You can spot plenty of wildlife, from birds to wallabies, making photo hunting really exciting. The atmosphere is calm, green, and relaxing-perfect for a walk while carrying your camera. It's also a great place for families, a fun walk with friends, or just to enjoy a refreshing day outdoors. Truly a fun and memorable spot for everyone.

I visited this place on a lovely afternoon and had an amazing experience. The parking was convenient and well-organized. Birds and different animals were freely around the area, which made it both exciting and enjoyable to watch. The pleasant sound of birds created a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. There were also great facilities for barbecue and seating, making it a perfect spot to spend time. The weather was wonderful, and everything together made it a truly memorable visit.

I spent a lovely morning at the Blackbutt Nature Reserve and it was great! We saw wallabies, one koala, emus and much more. The park in itself is really nice and very well organized. It’s perfect for families with kids ! We finished our morning having lunch at the park, as there are many pic nic tables. The reserve is free but the parking lot is around 6$ by hour. We had a coffee and a matcha at the cafe there and it was not really good … we also waited a lot.

Nice park with relaxing area with a playground near the cafe. Many beautiful birds and a paved pathway to see various animals. We saw birds, kangaroos, emus, reptiles and a koala. It was busy but festive on the weekend we went. Overall a great place to visit.

Great for a family day out or a place to hang with friends. There are plenty of spots to sit and have a picnic, including picnic tables. Kids area is great. Cafe has a good selection - all sorts of flavoured croissants, biscuits and cakes, as well as a full menu of breakfast and lunch food. I had a Nutella cookie and it was extremely good! The main nature walk includes koalas, wallabys, lizards, frogs, and birds of all sorts. The emu and kangaroo area is always good to walk around. There are plenty of walking tracks through the reserve. Entry is free, but parking is not. Not really any public transport options, and the road outside the reserve is pretty dangerous to try to cross and theres minimal space to walk on that side of the road. Very much not walkable to there if you live nearby.

I've always loved Blackbutt and spent many happy hours there as a child, with my children and now grand children. But honestly, charging for parking? Any wonder the car park was empty, a disgraceful grab for cash.

The walking trail from **Merewether Beach** to **King Edward Park Lookout** is about 6 km return. I enjoyed a wonderful 1.5-hour walk on a delightful afternoon. The weather was perfect, the beach was absolutely stunning, and the sunset created a magical atmosphere. Along the way, I saw many people walking, exercising, and enjoying their time, which made the whole experience even more lively and enjoyable.

Nice short walk that gives you a great views of the ocean and city. You also get to know more about the history of ANZAC during WW1. I recommend going here to view the sunset.

Great coastal walk along some of Newcastle's best beaches like Bar Beach, Merewether Beach. You can walk all the way to Newcastle and spot a hang glider or 2.

Wonderful coastline walk with well documented military history along the way. Plenty of parking at either end. Dogs not permitted but they are permitted along the existing footpath which follows the walk on the street. Lots of stairs and hill down to Bar beach. Would recommend.

Absolutely wonderful tunnel tour for $15 per adult. The historical society volunteer guides are great and explaining everything and happy to answer any questions. They’ve done a wonderful job at keeping the fort open to the public and restoring a huge piece of local history. Amazing views from the top with plenty of ocean life to watch. Would highly recommend.

Loved the fort, it was awesome to see a real piece of history and how our land was protected. It's free to walk around but need to pay for the tunnels, which are pretty cool as well. If you go before 1:00pm make sure you stick around as there is the one o'clock gun that goes off.

Great place, very well taken cared and shown by a very enthusiastic staff of volunters, witnessed the 13:00p cannon shot followed by a guided visit to the tunnels, that's really the part you have to pay for,the fortress itself is free, but if you ask me it's absolutely worth every cent.

Admission is free, and the staff at the front gate are very friendly, welcoming us and providing some additional information. The panoramic view from the top is truly awesome, and I highly recommend a visit when you are in Newcastle.

This is such a great gallery with really interesting and diverse spaces. We came at a great time with three beautiful exhibitions on. The volunteers were helpful, engaging and seemed very passionate and knowledgeable about the exhibits.

A wonderful experience visiting MR AG. Like that, so artistic! It's beautiful space which also highlights many local artists. Most of the exhibits are very unique in expression. There is a restaurant inside the Maitland Regional Art Gallery is called Séraphine Café.

Great exhibit at the moment “Twitcher”… just delightful. A lovely cafe, a lift to get upstairs, a spacious gallery and friendly staff. Gift shop has some beautiful things too. Free parking out back.

Fantastic sights and sounds for all exhibitions on a wide range of topics. I am a Twitcher! I could have sat all day watching the birds in flight loop! The tiny art was very clever and I don't think we found them all. Will be back.

The MRAG is as rich in its display as it is with warm accommodating staff. I was welcomed by Ms Belinda and gave me information about the current exhibits and how to go about my way around the galleries. The collections were all dazzling and amazing. I loved the Portraits the most as well as the miniature displays. I definitely would visit again every time I come to Maitland. Inspiring and entertaining!

Fantastic experience and was a great morning out. We just did the self guided tour and enjoyed the observations and stories about previous employees. Very interesting history and easy to navigate. Highly recommend if you're in the area! Only suggestion I have for visitors is probably leave the younger kids at home! My older two (7 & 5) enjoyed it but the 3 year old got bored quickly.

Fascinating and confronting - the prison is in an excellent state of preservation and the various eras are well represented in the surviving buildings. The stories from inmates and guards range from sad to spine chilling. An important relic of Australian history preserved for everyone to visit.

What a waste of money. We did the night tour. Young children crying and wanting to leave. People with torches in your face. Nothing too exciting or interesting. People filming for a paranormal experience with fake noises in the background.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Crimes of Passion’ night tour. Our knowledgable and charismatic guide, Robyn and her storytelling ability made it an immersive and memorable experience. We’d recommend this tour and a visit to Maitland Gaol, and will be sure to return :)

This was a mix between serious ghost hunt and theatrical horror house. The atmosphere at night is amazingly solemn and creepy. We were told some interesting history on the tour. I wish I had done a little more research into the history before the tour so that I could have put myself into the experience more.

I have quite a fascination with jails so this of course was a must visit. I did the self guided tour and throughly enjoyed walking around listening to the stories while checking the place out. Highly recommend visiting to anyone considering it.

Located at 49 Medowie Road, Williamtown, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. This is a great place to come to. The display of the fighter jets is quite vast and the history of Australian fighter jets is amazing. You also get to see the ammunition, the weapons, the engines and so much more. Very well set out and easy to follow. If you are lucky enough, while enjoying a wonderful drink or meal at the attached “My Three Beans” Cafe, you might get to see some jets taking off or landing. The noise is so loud but well worth seeing. It’s amazing to experience. Admission to the museum is $20 adults, $11 children (under 5 years free) and senior/pensioner $16. I thought this very reasonable considering everything you get to see. There are toilets available, including disabled) around the back of the building. There’s plenty of parking 🅿️ and it’s free 🆓. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend visiting here. Thumbs up!!! 👍👍👍

Very informative displays and I even got to chat to a former F111 pilot!! … The best part is the second storey platform at the rear where you can see - up close - F35 fighter taking off and land. What a thrill … the little coffee shop next door is very reasonable priced and had a great variety on the menu

The staff at William Fighter World were incredibly friendly and helpful. The aircraft displays were impressive, especially the F-18 fighter jet. There’s also another exhibition hall accessible from the back door, with even more to explore. Definitely worth a visit.”

On Tuesday at around 12:55 pm, I bought tickets online a week in advance. Walk-ins were also fine. If I had to be honest, we thought the museum was small, but it was actually quite large! There were massive jets, and we even got to sit in one! The staff was lovely and very informative. We weren’t busy until about 1:30 pm. We really loved seeing the showcased jets. Then, we saw massive jets taking off! We didn’t know of any jets as it was our first time thinking it was just a museum, but not realising it was outside Williamtown RAAF. There weren’t just one, but two jets, and then a heap of different planes going! This experience was amazing, and I honestly fell in love with jets. Seeing and hearing how loud they were was crazy! They had bathrooms and an outer deck to see the jets taking off. Honestly, it was an 11/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

Highly recommend a trip to Fighter World. We had some time between our arriving flight and hotel check in and it was worth the stop! Whole family (kids 13, 11, 9 and 8) thoroughly enjoyed, as did the adults. - Can not thank Steve enough for taking us around and giving us a real understanding of what we were viewing, even explaining things to the kids and answering any questions. - This can be a self guided experience with plenty of information provided on signs, however I strongly encourage you to talk to the gentlemen on the floor. They have first hand experience and are so full of knowledge and passion. - We managed to time it well enough to see some jets taking off and landing which was a great (noisy) experience! - We stopped for lunch at the Cafe which has heaps of variety, was all reasonably priced and was tasty. Overall a great way to spend a few hours especially on a rainy day, we did not prebook and there was no wait.

What a great place to visit. You can get up close to the Jets you can even sit in one. Very knowledgeable volunteers to answer any questions you may have. Nice little gift shop and there's even a cafe that overlooks the airport. Highly recommend visiting.

Was so amazing. Being able to feed so many different animals, milk cows and see the bay goats. Loved the reptile show and being able to touch them. Staff are so friendly and informative about ask the animals.

Went by myself to kill some time, had a great time. I did the koala encounter and the keeper was so fun and knew so much about the koalas. Fed so many animals and had a great time, loved the baby goats and all the birds, there was a black cockatoo that was very entertaining to watch, everything was so clean and it was a great experience

Great family friendly place. Water park is great! Nice park to walk around in with a good variety of animals. They have a new red panda enclosure but unfortunately we couldn't spot any. Admission is quite pricey but so is pretty much everywhere else these days! More seating needed around the park..

Best wildlife nearby Sydney. Tallonga has much animals but cannot touch. Featherdale may can touch but costs lot.. However here can touch and feed Koala and Kangaroo. However you shall visit on open time 10AM animals will sleep on daytime.

Came here during our time away in Nelson's Bay. Good variety of animals and they looked well kept. Goats and Kangaroos were very friendly. Lenny the Long horn was a stand out, what an aweome dude!

Haven't been to Oakvale farm for years, and thought I'd take my grand daughter. She, and I both loved it. The animals are well looked after and very gentle.

Always skipped this place in the past, but this time around, we managed to stop by It has an amazing panoramic view of some areas of Port Stephens. Parking spots are very limited, though.

It's a very useful lookout point. Wonderful views we stayed for about 20mins parking is very limited.

A quick stop for an incredible view. There are two areas to enjoy the view. Free parking is available in a small parking area at the lookout.

The drive up is steep and winding, but the view from the top is absolutely worth it! You get a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the entire Port Stephens area, including the bay, Tomaree Head, and the surrounding landscape. It's the perfect first stop to get your bearings and appreciate the scale of this beautiful region. A must-do for the view alone!

The Marina is situated next to the Nelson Bay's City Centre. It has it's own public paid parking limited to 4 hrs at about $5 per hour. There are some cafes and restaurants around. It's a nice place to be.

Better than I was expecting. The crew were friendly and provided a history of the area and took extra time to take us to a known dolphin-spotting area. Would definitely recommend.

Taking a ferry cruise is a unique and enjoyable way to travel, especially if you're crossing between islands or coastal cities. From the moment you board, you’re welcomed by fresh sea air, wide open views, and the relaxing sound of the waves.

Have a chance to do ferry to see the whale from Nelson bay. Beautiful places. Lots of restaurant. Have car park space. Good souvenir shop.

The marina is the meeting place for a whale watching tour The tour on a big catamaran was excellent and we saw lots of whales and dolphins

If you are driving here for a cruise, you can park at Woolworths Nelson Bay's underground car park for free for 3 hours. Short walk to the Marina. Alternatively, parking here is $3.20 per hour on the meter machine for a maximum of 4 hours, during paid hours on weekdays. Credit card accepted for payment. Print ticket and place on your car dashboard.

I brought along 34 elderly tourists from Qld for lunch and despite overwhelming the staff in the cafe, they handled it with amazing calm, great service and delicious food, everyone was delighted with their lunch. Could have easily polished off a couple more of the yummy citrus tarts. The museum is great as well, so much fascinating local history

We had breakfast at the cafe inside the original Light keeper's cottage. It was excellent with great water views. There is a Museum and a Golf Shop, entry by gold coin donation. Well worth a visit.

Only a gold coin donation the museum is situated in 3 rooms of the lighthouse cottage. One room consists of some local shipping history, one room is about the gun emplacements and ww2 history and the third about the marine rescue history. There is a gift shop and nearby tea rooms as well. Not very many car parks so you might have to be patient.

Gorgeous short 1km hike to the summit, beautiful 360 views at the top. Lots of stairs near the top, there are a few options to choose a paved path or traditional hiking path. These can be down in sneakers or even summer sandals if you didn’t pack hiking boots. It took me 12 minutes to get to the top, only stopping twice for a quick picture.

Definitely another must visit at Shoal Bay, in addition to the summit walk. It’s an easy flat walk with ocean breeze and access to the WWII torpedo emplacement & six inch gun emplacement, just be careful navigating through the rocks.

The Tomaree Coast track offers a great days hiking along this beautiful coastline! So much to see along the way.

Well it's quite a walk up the hill but I took some water and got up to the top and wow what have you if you make the trip up the mountain it is well worth it lot of spots it's quite easy the pathway is a lot better than what it used to be they spend a bit of time fixing up the path I do recommend going up the hill if you have the time the views are excellent from mwh

Book early for campsites, make sure that you can get to the campsite that you book and please remove your booking if you can't actually use it as many people love the sites and book but don't actually pitch up on the day.

Wonderful bush camping spots in Mungo Brush campground, near the water ( where you can see sunsets over the lake)and right next to a section of rainforest, home to 1000's of fruit bats. Incredible birdwatching as well, including the glorious black and gold regent bowerbird. Pit toilets, no showers, bring own water.

Clean camping area's, waste bins onsite, public toilets, boat ramp, great for swimming, close to beach, 4wd drive access to beach.

Australia has many beautiful natural places to enjoy. Mall lakes has the lakes and the ocean .

Great park - there are camping fees and park entry fees but it's well worth it for the facilities and how beautiful this park is. Bring you're own firewood if there isn't a ban and keep your eye out for dingoes and goannas.

Beautiful park, amazing nature, very diverse with the lakes, ocean beaches, rainforest, ... I absolutely loved the walking trails such as the Mungo Rainforest walk and the one to Dark Point, where you get really breathtaking views!

Absolutely loved visiting Billabong! The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well-kept. The animals spaces are thoughtfully designed, giving the animals plenty of space while still allowing visitors to enjoy an up-close view. The staff were friendly and incredibly informative, always happy to share their knowledge and answer any questions making the visit both fun and educational. Overall, a lovely place to spend the day, and I can’t recommend it enough for anyone who appreciates animals, conservation, and a truly well cared for environment.

We had a great day. Zoo Keeper Kristie was especially helpful in coaxing the Snow Leopard out after seeing us waiting patiently for him to come out. We did the Cheetah Feeding experience which was awesome. All of the animal info sessions were well run and informative. There were not a lot of people on our visit, so we didn’t have to jostle for a look or good position to take photos. All staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to the whole Billabong team for making our day memorable.

7.9.2025 This is an amazing facility; the enclosures are all spacious and the animals appear happy and content. There is a walking path around the park and write ups / QR codes for all the animals. The new additions with their pool are gorgeous and we got to see them swimming around on our trip. You can pay extra to encounter a koala or hold and python. Only down side was the hand sanitiser was empty upon exiting the kangaroo enclosure.

We had the best experience at Billabong! Every member of staff was kind, friendly and seemed to genuinely adore the animals under their care. Caitlin delivered the best koala experience we could have hoped for. It’s wonderful to support a facility like this, would recommend.

If your going past 💯 stop in for a visit the keepers and staff are the nicest people. This zoo is awesome the animals are happy and relaxed it's got a great atmosphere 😀.

Our uber driver recommended this place as we were on our way to the koala hospital that’s near it. We are so thankful they did because we had one of the best experiences ever. It was a quiet day pretty much the zoo to ourselves but we had the best time. The animals seemed very well kept and the staff has so much passion for what they do. Feeding the kangaroos was an experience i’ll never forget. At the end of our day we met the owner Max and he was extremely kind and shared some amazing information. The whole family helps out and it’s just a great place all around. Thank you again to Max for everything!

Had a wine tasting at Cassegrain before lunch in the restaurant. Molly looked after us and was very knowledgeable and fun. Lunch was delicious paired with the recommended wines. Limited menu, a couple of menu items were not available but generally the experience was pretty good and well priced. I would recommend and definitely go back, we had a fun afternoon.

I've tasted wine in Argentina, France and Stevenage and can comfortably say Molly is the most knowledgeable, interesting and fun wine taster I've ever experienced. Of all the wine tastings I've had and forgotten, this is by far the most memorable. I wish it lasted longer but more potential customers (possibly just browsing the stock and not paying for anything) walked through and we had to resign ourselves to losing our wine champion. Would recommend to anyone!

Sorry guys, the entrees just didn't cut it. Gin cured salmon....sounds wonderful eh? 4 swirls of thumb size salmon on the plate with a clump of dry rocket in the middle. Very underwhelming. My husbands prawn in white wine sauce were 5 cooked prawns with a sauce poured over them and we think they had been frozen. Mains were better....my confit duck was delicious and so was the pork belly but the side salad was a bowl of bitter oakleaf lettuce, a little pickled onion on top and a few nuts. So bitter it was inedible. Looking around the restaurant no one was eating the salad.Told the waiter but he still charged us. Not sure why people are raving about the ambience, there isn't any. Floor to ceiling windows with no blinds so everyone inside was squinting or wearing sunglasses. No air-conditioning, it was stinking hot. It has potential but not there yet.
