The Australian National Surfing Museum, located in Torquay, Victoria, is a celebration of Australia's rich surfing history and beach culture. Great place to visit giving a great insight into Australia’s and the local areas surf history. In the same complex as a bunch of surf apparel shops with easy parking and public toilets

Very interesting and comprehensive museum. Everything from, Australian, local history and international. Great photos and examples of surfers, boards, competitions, trophies. A large theatre shows a very well put together film history with great information about many aspects of surfing life, famous faces and board development and manufacture. Great gift shop and welcoming staff.

A Memorable Visit to the Australian National Surfing Museum – Where History Meets the Ocean Spirit A friend and I recently visited the Australian National Surfing Museum, and it turned out to be far more than just a stop on our weekend itinerary, it was a journey through Australia’s deep connection with the ocean and the art of surfing. From the moment we stepped inside, we were immersed in an atmosphere that celebrated both sport and culture. The museum’s collection of vintage surfboards and memorabilia tells a powerful story of evolution, of how surfing shaped communities, lifestyles, and even attitudes toward the sea. We couldn’t help but laugh as we tried the interactive surfing simulators; balancing on those boards (without actual waves!) proved to be both humbling and hilarious. What truly stood out was the museum’s ability to blend education with emotion. Every exhibit seemed to honor not just the athletes, but the pioneers who turned surfing into a symbol of freedom and connection. The visuals, the storytelling, and even the soundtrack of rolling waves made the experience feel alive. As we left, we found ourselves reflecting on how surfing isn’t merely a sport, it’s a philosophy of movement, balance, and respect for nature. Visiting the Australian National Surfing Museum reminded me that great experiences don’t just teach us about history, they invite us to feel part of it.
Heidy W — Google review
It's a small, but lovely museum. Staff is friendly. The exhibition tells you how Australia became a surf country, thanks to Hawaiian surfers. It also teaches you about the evolution of the boards. It does, however, feel more like a local surf museum rather than a national one. As a non surfer (there's no surfing possible where I live), I would have loved to learn more about the surfing itself. Technique explanations, the best spots of Australia explained, etc are a few topics that would be a great addition. Other than that, I enjoyed it. The family rate of $25 is a fair price, when you come with 2 young children.
Wicked S — Google review
A great museum where I learnt a lot about Australian surfing champions. Saw surfboards from the original wooden ones with no fins to the up to date lightweight boards with 3 fins. A tour guide took us around and his explanations were great, including a movie of surfers catching some huge waves.
Rosemarie M — Google review
Fantastic experience, really enjoyed learning about surfing history particularly the history within Australia and all the competitions, would love to see more on Aboriginal culture and surfing history in future but really enjoyed it. I loved the gift shop too, lots of cool local goodies and very friendly staff, cheers :)
Zara L — Google review
We loved it. It's a small museum but full of history. I really recommend going and spending a couple of hours watching all the surf boards, wetsuits, etc reading the history behind each item.

Fairy Park is a charming amusement park with whimsical and fairytale-themed attractions, including animatronic scenes and model trains. The park provides an excellent experience for children under the age of three who can enjoy pushing buttons, watching animated scenes, and listening to stories. Additionally, the playground at the bottom of the hill is fantastic and can keep kids entertained for hours. The admission fee of $22 for adults offers value for money as kids under three get in free.
It has been years since I have visited here, last time was with my Children probably 20 years ago, this time with my granddaughter. We had such a lovely day. No crowds so easy to get in and see all the displays. Grabbed lunch while we were there very well priced and delicious and ended the day playing at the playground. Definitely a great family activity and if you don't want to purchase food simply take a picnic lunch, there is loads of seating available.
Debbie C — Google review
A good place to visit with young kids, as they get to enjoy seeing their story book characters come to life. My daughter who's 4 years old absolutely enjoyed it. Plenty room supplied for packed lunches. There is a small cafe but not much variety for food options. Stroller friendly but a hike as you walk through the attractions to the top.
Amica C — Google review
We had an enchanting day at Fairy Park with our kids! The princess-themed fairy tales and attractions were a huge hit with the little ones. The park was well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The kids loved the interactive experiences, and we enjoyed the nostalgic feel of classic fairy tales brought to life. The food options were suitable for families, and the play areas were clean and safe. Overall, Fairy Park is a great place for families with young children who love princesses and fairy tales. We can't wait to come back and explore more!
Alisha S — Google review
I was amazed how well they have maintained the place since it's been around for more than 60 years! Highly recommend it especially for kids who grew up reading and watching fairy tales like Snow White, Pinnochio. Jack and the Beanstalk and much more. As an adult, it's a walk down memory lane :) I think we loved it as much as the kids did! It was a slow uphill walk with many stops and things to see, so we didn't really felt it. Easily you could spend 2-3 hours here. Priced $26 for adults and $14 for ages 3-16. Reasonable to me.
Saravanand N — Google review
An amazing place to visit! Very beautiful and we'll kept. The kids absolutely loved hearing and seeing all the fairytales. We took the pram in with us, and it really was too bad! It is very steep on some spots, so being muscle power.

Fairy Park in Anakie is a magical spot for kids! The fairytale characters and story displays are so well done, and our kids loved exploring and spotting their favourites. A fun, safe, and imaginative day out for families.

This place is a wild ride. It was a rainy day and decided to go for a drive and came across this gem of a place. Has been around for a long time but the displays are timeless. Great playground for the kids.

The National Wool Museum, located in a beautifully restored 1872 bluestone wool store near Geelong's Waterfront, is a must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts. It offers insight into the city's role in the wool industry and presents the Australian story of wool fiber and textiles through hands-on exhibits, workshops, and curated galleries.
I visited the National Wool Museum yesterday and it was a fascinating experience. The museum does an excellent job of showcasing Australia’s wool industry from its early beginnings to modern day production. One of the highlights for me was learning about the deep connection between Australia’s Aboriginal people and the land as well as their historical contributions to the industry. The exhibits are well organized featuring interactive displays, historical artifacts, and even a working wool processing machine. The museum presents not just the technical aspects of wool production but also the social and cultural impacts making it an educational and engaging experience. Overall I highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in Australian history, textiles or just looking for something unique to do in Geelong. It’s a great place to appreciate how wool shaped Australia’s economy and culture over the years.
Amanda D — Google review
This museum was a lovely surprise. I learned a lot about history, visited an exhibition, and also the shop which was great. There lots of nice wool jumpers, scarves and socks and other products in the shop.
Juliana S — Google review
We had a great morning there and front ladies were amazing. Such a great place to learn about wools and history. Museum has a lot of information and all those real machinery to see. And easy access near Geelong waterfront.
Anushi J — Google review
I enjoyed my trip to the museum after a very long time. They have merino and possum wool socks here which I do enjoy wearing.
Thomas L — Google review
I spent about an hour enjoying the museum. Exhibits on wool manufacturing, sheep farming and a fashion display.
Liz A — Google review
Very informative. I enjoyed it very much. I loved how they talk about not only the machinery but also other aspects such as animal welfare. The wildlife photography exhibition on the first floor is also amazing.
Sandali M — Google review
Loved the experience. The place seemed quite small and humble on the outside but packed a good amount of content inside, especially for the price. It went into detail about the whole process of wool production, with machines on display and images+text to explain the process. On the day we went, there was also a guy actually operating the central machine which is cool to see. Leave approx. 1 to 2 hours to experience the place. Really great place if you’ve got a bit of time and a couple bucks spare. Would recommend.
Chenny N — Google review
The Wool Museum was really interesting, but what we loved the most was the photography section! I wish they had stamps, stickers, or tickets as souvenirs instead of just the receipt—it would have been great for my journaling. I’d definitely visit again!

The carousel features beautifully crafted horses that add a touch of whimsy and nostalgia to the waterfront scenery. A Magical Trip Back in Time for Young and Old Alike In the heart of Geelong's waterfront, The Carousel is a gem that will transport you back in time to an era of whimsy and wonder. This beautifully restored 1892 carousel is a must-visit attraction for families, history buffs, and anyone looking to recapture a sense of childlike magic. As you step onto the carousel platform, you're immediately immersed in a world of vibrant colours and intricate details. The carousel itself is a work of art, featuring 36 hand-carved horses, as well as other animals like giraffes, zebras, and even a dragon. Each horse is uniquely decorated with ornate saddles, flowing manes, and glass jewels that catch the light as they gently sway to the tune of the carousel's old-fashioned organ music. The ride itself is a nostalgic experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. As the carousel begins to turn, you'll feel like a kid again, clinging tight to your chosen steed as you rise and fall in a mesmerising dance. The gentle motion and the lively music create a sense of carefree joy that's hard to resist. But The Carousel is more than just a fun ride - it's also a fascinating piece of history. The carousel was originally built in 1892 by Charles I.D. Looff, a renowned carousel maker, and has been meticulously restored to its former glory. As you gaze at the intricate carvings and the ornate mirrors that surround the ride, you can't help but feel a sense of awe at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into creating this masterpiece. In addition to the carousel itself, the surrounding pavilion is filled with charming touches that add to the overall ambiance. Vintage carousel horses and other memorabilia line the walls, while comfortable seating areas invite you to linger and take in the sights and sounds. There's even a small gift shop where you can pick up souvenirs to remember your visit. Whether you're a parent looking for a fun and educational outing for your kids, a history enthusiast eager to see a piece of the past brought to life, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of a bygone era, with its stunning restoration, nostalgic charm, and sense of wonder, this magical attraction is sure to delight visitors of all ages.
Michael C — Google review
The Carousel on Geelong’s waterfront adds a touch of nostalgia to the modern promenade. Housed in a glass pavilion that glitters after dark, the century-old horses circle to a cheerful barrel-organ soundtrack while the bay shimmers outside every window. It feels almost cinematic stepping aboard, with polished brass poles, hand-painted scenes on the rounding boards and gentle sea breezes drifting through the open doors in summer. Families cluster at the railing to wave each time riders glide past, though plenty of adults queue up for a turn as well. Staff are welcoming and patient, happy to let younger children choose a slower chariot if the leaping horses look too ambitious. A mobility lift means wheelchair users can join the ride, and the smooth timber deck around the carousel leaves room for prams to park without tripping anyone up. Even if you are just passing by, the pavilion is worth a pause. The historic steam engine sits on display behind glass, interpretive panels outline the restoration story, and a small kiosk sells coffee, ice cream and souvenirs shaped like tiny horses. On cooler evenings it is easy to linger with a hot drink, watching the reflections of the lights ripple across Corio Bay.

First time visiting the foreshore of Geelong and were pleasantly surprised at how lovely a city it is nestled on the shoreline. Great restaurants and the barge fish and chips restaurant would have to be one of the best fish and chip meals I have ever had and so reasonable for a very large portion. We have decided to holiday here next year. Very impressed !

Inside the visitor center, you can find displays about the carousel's history and the restoration process. You can enjoy a ride on this beautiful carousel for just $5! It's a delightful experience that combines a touch of nostalgia with the chance to learn about its rich history. 🌳 Fantastic Family Park & Coastal Pool Opening Soon! Visited this lovely park in Geelong today during our holiday, and it was a great time despite the chill. The well‑equipped play area kept the kids entertained, with plenty of open grass, picnic and BBQ facilities, and clean amenities. The views of Corio Bay were simply stunning—perfect backdrop for family photos and sandy play. We were delighted to learn that the children’s sea pool at Eastern Beach—just by the park—is set to reopen from 1 November through to April. The shallow wading area, with its diving tower, springboards and fountains, is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer season . That gives us another seaside treat later this year! Highlights: Great for kids: Playground zones + space for running games Amenities: BBQs, picnic tables, toilets, showers Scenic spot: Art-deco boardwalk, sea baths, diving platforms Seasonal bonus: Children’s pool opens 1 Nov–21 Apr, with lifeguards on duty Despite a crisp spring breeze, our crew had a blast. Can’t wait to visit again in November when the sea pool reopens—another fun swim to add to our Geelong holiday plans!

Beautiful, well kept botanical gardens with lots of small paths and areas to sneak off to and see the beautiful birds and butterflies that are attracted to the area. I would advise picking up the map so you can check out the special plants that are there - I can't remember exactly, but there's a good number of heritage listed trees that are worth seeing just because you may find it hard to see them elsewhere! A giant redwood (Sequoia) is one of the areas, which is definitely worth seeing as well as a plant that looks like it's being chained to the ground - I don't remember what it's called but it looks impressive and I've definitely never seen one before! A bonus is that entrance is free and there is a small outdoor cafe that I assume is open seasonally (?) - sadly it wasn't open when I was visiting. It also wasn't crowded when I visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. With its location so close to the waterfront, it's worth visiting if you're in the area to take a break or just to see the butterflies!

First visit to this botanical garden. It is a compact but full of variety of flora in this garden. Most of plants, flowers and shrubs cam be found here. However, as i m not a botanist, i may be wrong. Surely, it is dilligently arranged based by climatic zone. It also has temperature controlled room for tropical one. Tho, it has less green area to sit down and picnic inside the garden but outside, it has plenty room. 2 car parks on the side of enterance door. Surely it is recommended for anyone including for relaxation and learning even just jogging.

Always a pleasure to watch the talented actors perform in the beautiful Botanical gardens of Geelong. We're so lucky to have such a stunning and well looked after place to enjoy with the family

Werribee Gorge State Park (Parks Victoria)

State park
Nature & Parks
Nature area drawing daytrippers with hiking paths, climbing terrain, picnic spots & swimming holes.
One of the few parks in the western side with some good grade 3 walking treks. Some walks are moderate to steep in height but not that difficult. Nice views and mix of scenery. The long trek takes roughly around 3hrs. It's has a beach at one part of the river which can be used for swimming or a dip. There are few tables in the picnic area, and it has drop toilet but not sure how it is.

So so so beautiful. One of my favourite hikes I’ve been on since I started hiking. The weather was amazing. The hike was relatively challenging, with a few rocky bits, but was very much worth it.
Susu — Google review
It’s one of the most beautiful places to visit in Victoria, perfect for any sunny day, whether in summer or winter. Some sections can be challenging, with slippery rocks and small areas where you need to lean on the rocks and hold a rope, so it’s not suitable for everyone—especially young children or the elderly. Definitely worth visiting, and I’d happily go again.

Beautiful walk through the Werribee gorge. The weather was on our side! Great challenges, and amazing views and scenery throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed the river walk and the beach area was excellent for a lunch stop. Highly recommend to take your time and enjoy this little bit of nature.
Colin S — Google review
It was a very interesting trail comprises of walk by the beautiful stream, narrow cliff side walk, crossing huge rocks with rope support, uphill and downhill, beaches to swim. We in our 60s took approximately 4hrs to complete the Waribee Curcuit with stops for photo-taking.. we all had enjoyed the trail. Yes the anticlockwise could be a better direction to have the cliff narrow path and crossing the big rocks with rope support at the end of the trail..Strongly recommended.
Kelly T — Google review
I've walked both the short circuit and long and neither are overly difficult hikes. There are a couple of long steeper sections on both trails but nothing that will kill you. Slow and steady. Signage is ok. Could be better. But trail is pretty easy to identify without the signs. Although id still recommend having a digital or paper map with you as a backup. Not an overly scenic trail though. The nicest part is to the south along the creek. The majority of the trail is though the middle of the bush so not many lookouts along the way. Parking and toilet provisions are good. 3.5 stars because of the lack of scenery and the noise from the freeway on the northern end is a bit of a downer.
Anisa R — Google review
A fantastic place. Even on a grey, rainy day! Lots of options for trails too for different levels of trekkers. Easy or hard as you like. The low track runs along the creek (where we took a freezing but liberating dip) with a section you can climb across, which was good fun. We didn’t spot any koalas but apparently it’s known for a lot of sightings. Tip: park in bottom car park so you don’t finish your trek and have to walk uphill to get to your car!
Rosanne S — Google review
amazing trail, lots of different walking options for different fitness levels and the picnic areas and nicely sectioned away from the trail. giving minus one star because the lookout point circuit is a little confusing. If you make it to the top, be mindful of signs.

Specialty Museums
Fort Queenscliff is a restored 19th-century fortification that houses military artifacts and interpretive history exhibits. The site holds historical significance, with cottages built in the mid-1800s and occupied by pilots, health officers, and police. The duplex at Nos. 60-62 represents a rare building type and style combination in Victoria, showcasing domestic Gothic and row house construction.
Brilliant way to spend a couple of hours. Our tour guide Carole was interesting and knowledgeable explaining when the fort was built, why and how. Interesting to learn that part of the main high street is now inside the walls of the fort’s defence system. Loads of memorabilia, lots of information available on the tour and finishes in the museum with more information given by army personnel Helen in this case, who again was very interesting and knowledgeable about the history of the fort. Well worth a visit.

A carer and I brought a group of 6 clients in today and Mary was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and a wonderful lady. She was very thoughtful for wheelchair users and considerate for our clients needs. We all had a great experience and would recommend doing the tour with Mary. From the start with a phone call from Siran who went out of her way to help book us in and even a follow up phone call in the morning to confirm information for us to the end with Mary. Thank you ladies for a wonderful experience. Chantelle, Rhonda and Clients.

Fantastic guided tour with detailed explanations of the history of all the elements of the fort. Incredible historical artifacts. A great family experience. The kids really enjoyed it and learned so much. 😊

Very interesting place, our tour guide was both informative and funny telling us facts regarding the fort and some funny things that have taken place there. Please be advised there are NO public toilets available inside the fort, there are however toilets available just outside. Apart from this I would highly recommend this place for a visit.

The views were brilliant even on an overcast day. The guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. My four year old boy enjoyed seeing all the buildings and guns. A fun experience was watching a container ship make the turn out of the bay as it illustrated the use of the lighthouses. Highly recommended to spend some time here!

The Blues Train in Queenscliff, Victoria, offers a unique and enjoyable entertainment and dining experience. Running from August to May, this steam train provides a mini-festival atmosphere with live blues music and themed dining. Guests can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience of dining aboard a moving train while being entertained by blues musicians. The food served on board is also musically themed, adding to the overall experience.
What a fun and unique experience! Amazing organization by the Blues Train team. The dinner was delicious. The musicians were top notch. It was fun moving from car to car at each stop to see the next performance. Room to dance or sit and enjoy the music. An absolutely energy charged environment. Great to share with friends and family. We highly recommend and will be heading back ourselves. Books out quickly!!

5/4/25 We had an absolutely fantastic night on the Blues Train! We had had to wait for 5 years for the experience as we had previously booked in 2020..... Anyway, finally we managed to get 7 of us together and it was fabulous! We started with the meal. I feel the directions could have been clearer, but there was enough food when I got there (larger men in our party would have preferred seconds/larger portions). The meal was tasty. We had beef, chicken, carrots, mashed potato, salad, a bread roll, and coleslaw. Dessert (lemon tart) was too sweet and the only option, which was disappointing. The music in each carriage was great. My order of favourites would be B, A, D, C but others in our group had different favourites. Something for everyone. Anna Scionti amazed us all with her cigar box guitar skills 👌 👏 🎸 It would have been nice to know about the drink package options beforehand, to have been able to choose ahead rather than work it out in the queue, but we managed! We're so glad the Blues Train survived after 2020! P.S. nice to have security in each carriage, especially when a few people got a bit tipsy! There wasn't any trouble, just merriment, but nice to have their presence for 'just in case'!

We did the lunch show & we can’t wait to go again. The train ride was amazing, the musicians were very talented & played a variety of blues. The buffet food was very tasty and nearly all options were gluten free. The catering staff and the train staff were so friendly & helpful, even on a 35.deg day. Make sure you book accommodation early, took us a while to find something.

Had such a great time. I loved the cross section and varied music even though it was all blues. The carriages are not over crowded ( the perfect amount ) I would recommend this to anyone who has a love of music especially Blues

Had an absolute blast. The music was great , the atmosphere was amazing and we had a great time. I do think there need to be better food options though. The snack box was tasty but not really adequate for the length of time on the train , the free flowing drinks and as the event starts so early it makes it difficult to eat dinner beforehand. Incorporating some kind of hot food e.g sliders, pies etc at the halfway point (Drysdale) would make it an even better experience. Thanks Blues Train for responding. I do believe that you need to look at recent reviews and take the comments re the food "On Board". It is not easy to eat dinner that early and most of the recent reviews that I have read have mentioned the inadequacy of the food. I think you need to meet the expectations of your clients and provide better food options. If you did it would elevate the experience from 4 Star to 5 Star.

The experience of traveling the train and entertainment was fantastic. How ever … I am so glad I had a late lunch as the food provided was revolting and un eatable. Given a grazing box with warm cheese & dip. Deli meat was off, it went in the bin. Drinks limited only providing one per stop. Where as there website reflected only allowed three at a time . But would only give you one drink ! Very disappointed with food and drink provided.
Wrxjase75 — Google review
Boy, did this give me the blues. I went on this ten years ago and it was amazing — but the change in structure has turned it into an absolute mess. At each stop, you’re only allowed to get a drink for yourself — no one else in your group — and there are only four people physically serving the entire train. Everyone in your group has to queue for their own drink, including any elderly parents you’ve brought along. This also means you have to choose between going to the toilet, queuing for a drink, or queuing to save a seat on the carriage. You can’t do all three, and either way, you’ll spend the entire 30-minute stop in a queue. There are a maximum of four toilets per stop serving the entire train. No one explained the drinks rules in advance or how we would move between carriages, so everyone was confused and frustrated right from the start. Calling it a shambles doesn’t do it justice. We missed out on drinks, people were peeing in the bushes, and we couldn’t sit with our group on the carriage because there’s no structure to the seating arrangements. The staff were rude — I actually had to have a word with one of them after they referred to me as “that woman” for being in the way. The whole process completely undermined what would otherwise be a great musical experience. What a shame — this used to be brilliant.

📍 Good historical location. You can’t drive your private vehicle all the way to Point Nepean — parking is available only at the entrance. From there, you’ll need to take the shuttle service, which requires a paid return ticket purchased at the start. Note that the shuttle doesn’t operate all the time, so check the schedule beforehand. Alternatively, you can walk barefoot (or in comfortable shoes) for around 4–5 km. Plan at least 2 hours to fully enjoy the surroundings and the historic atmosphere.

The day was rainy with thunder and lightning, peaceful and the solitude I craved. Great walking tracks, asphalt the whole way. The up keep of the fort is good, an historic part of our past. Pack a picnic to share at the Quarantine Station, magnificence buildings.

Lots of fascinating points of interest along a spectacular scenic coastline. The old gun placements were great to walk around and you really felt in the moment walking through the tunnels under the point. Searoad Ferries provides a picturesque route to Sorrento with multiple daily crossings from Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. The 40-minute journey offers stunning views of Port Phillip Bay. The reservation and ticketing process is seamless, with professional and friendly service staff. Onboard services are excellent, including clean seating areas and a cafe serving various snacks and beverages. Passengers can enjoy the sunrise during the early morning ferry ride or spot dolphins in the bay if lucky.
A very laid back, and yet incredibly professional operation, this is definitely the quickest and easiest way to get from Sorrento to Queenscliffe, and lets face it, its about a four hour drive if you go around the bay. Ships are easy to board whether on foot or with a car, and there are nice facilities on board as well, with a small cafe that also serves alcohol, so you can enjoy a glass of something whilst you cruise across. Some great views of the properties in Portsea as well.

Booking was simple and quick. Customer Service from first lass at Sorrento greeting us through to the return trip, was amazingly brilliant. Everyone was friendly and very helpful to any passenger that required extra support. Coffee was lovely, the crossing was good and a lot of choices on where to sit. Highly recommend the ferry, fantastic way to relax instead of sitting in traffic from the Peninsula to Queenscliff. I was a foot passenger, parked my car up on the hill for all day parking. Took the 8am sailing from Sorrento and returned on the 5pm from Queenscliff.

Always great service this business. I have to highlight the help and assistance for my disabled friend. The lift didnt work on the older boat, and everyone was so assisting today. I was just doing a drop off and pick up, but thoughly impressed, even down to the wonderful staff in the ticketing area, who made great coffees.

I catch the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff every 2nd week and the process is so easy! The staff are fanatic at loading the cars carefully on the boat and the staff at the terminals and upstairs at the cafe are all so sweet and nice! It’s a 40 minute boat ride each way, once you’re on, you’re getting off, it goes so quickly!

A neat & tidy, comfortable and quick way to cross Port Phillip Bay... from Sorrento to Queenscliff (or vice-versa). Easy to board and disembark... on foot, or with a vehicle... and with food, drinks and gifts available on board.

Took the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento for the first time, bringing our car along, and it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience! The cabin was clean and comfortable, and there was even a little café onboard. I wasn’t expecting much, but the almond croissant was absolutely delicious — seriously one of the best I’ve had, and only $5! The trip went by so quickly, just chatting and taking photos. If you’re planning a visit to the Mornington Peninsula for the hot springs but don’t want to drive all the way around, this is a perfect and relaxing option. Highly recommend!

Searoad Ferry - The Queen of The Ocean. Where do I begin.. I don't consider myself a particularly wealthy man, this was apparent when I first observed the customers on board. The ship seemed to be seperated, the fancy rich customers had there nose turned up towards us more middle / lower class. However I would be one lady from wealth, she is beautiful and elegant and I truly questioned why she would entertain a street rat such as myself. We first would share a few libations together and an elegant meal with the rest of the high-end customers. Afterwards we would attend the lower class area to which we then Irish danced together laughing and having the time of our lives. We then would sneak to the bow of the ship, I will never forget how I held her by her luscious hips, her arms fully extended out on the bow of the ship, as I thought "I'm king of the World". To finish off this truly amazing voyage, we snack back to the hold of the vessel, where we would share a night full of passion and romance. I would draw this stunning lady like one of my french girls before we would sneak into the back seat of a car to become.... Ummmm better acquainted. And now we are here, the vessel is getting close to our destination. It is extremely cold on the ship right now and I believe I see an ice berg in the distance. This would normally have me in a panic, however the staff are all extremely professional and they call this ship "The Unsinkable", I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about. All I can think about right now is when we finally land will I go back to my everyday life, or will I live a new life of magic and wonder with this women who I consider the love of my life. Whatever happens all I know is I will never let go Rose. Sincerely yours, Jack

Yes. I found the community park land and sports facilities adjacent to the Bungie's water hole on the Werribee River, which would be a great place to swim on a very hot day ... But they have No Swimming signs posted on the waters edge, so maybe there are crocodiles or piranha or sumting .... But it's a lovely spot.

Shahid M — Google review
The Werribee River Park track that joins from the Federation Trail is a dead end as the bridge over the river to the Mansion is closed and has been for 2 years following a flood event. Come on PV, get it fixed please. Posted October 2022 People who may be planning visits to the Werribee Regional Park should be aware of some access restrictions between now and the end of the year. Recent flooding has caused structural damage to the footbridge over the Werribee River, and the bridge is closed indefinitely. Update from Parks Victoria Best we can hope for is Spring 2025 "The proposed repair works to the structure and stream embankment are significant. Repair works need careful planning and design with many site and environmental factors being considered. Flora and fauna, and hydrological assessments have been undertaken. These have provided information required to schedule the repair works, which must occur at a certain time of year. This will minimise the impact on flora and fauna in the area surrounding the bridge and consider expected water levels in the river. An ideal timeframe has been determined and works are expected to take place in Q1 FY 25/26."

Nestled just a short drive from Melbourne's bustling CBD, the Werribee Open Range Zoo is a delightful family-friendly destination that transports visitors to the heart of Africa. Spanning over 225 hectares, this unique zoo offers an incredible opportunity to observe iconic African wildlife in their naturalistic habitats. From majestic giraffes and playful zebras to powerful lions and gentle elephants, every corner of the zoo is filled with fascinating creatures.
We absolutely love visiting Werribee Open Range Zoo! There are so many amazing animals to see, and it’s always such a fun and exciting day out for the whole family. My favourite part is definitely the safari bus tour — it’s such a unique experience that takes you around the open range area to see animals up close, just like you’re on a real African safari. Meya (Not sure if i spelt her name correctly but) did a fantastic job driving us around and explaining everything so clearly. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable — kudos to her! It was also really exciting when we got stuck behind Harold the giraffe for a little while — he decided to stand right in the way and wouldn’t move! We all had a good laugh and got an even closer look at him. Moments like that make the tour so memorable. They’ve also just opened the new Elephant Trail, and it’s absolutely incredible! It’s a huge, 21-hectare, state-of-the-art space that gives the elephants so much room to roam. The design is beautiful and really well thought out — you can tell a lot of care has gone into making it a great environment for the animals We love going there, and the kids do too! It’s always a fantastic day full of adventure, learning, and fun. Highly recommend a visit! 🐘🦒🦓

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely the Best Zoo I’ve Ever Been To! Werribee Open Range Zoo is truly magical! From the friendly and welcoming staff to the spacious animal enclosures and spotless grounds, everything about this place is exceptional. The new state-of-the-art elephant enclosure is incredible — it’s even larger than all of Melbourne Zoo put together and that’s just one section of the park! We did the Giraffe Animal Experience, which turned out to be so much more than just a tour. We hopped on one of the safari buses and were taken right into the open plains, surrounded by incredible animals roaming freely — seeing the rhino family up close was an unforgettable highlight. The behind-the-scenes giraffe experience was amazing too. We got to feed the giraffes, explore their enclosure, and learn so much about them. Our guide, JESSE was absolutely fantastic! His passion for the animals, knowledge, and fun personality made the whole experience come alive. You can tell he truly loves what he does, and it made our visit extra special. My husband and I were lucky it was raining so it was just us 2 on the tour . The zoo’s wide-open spaces make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to Africa — it’s breathtaking how much room the animals have to roam. If you’re visiting the Melbourne area, Werribee Zoo is an absolute must-see. It was the highlight of our trip, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Paid $55 for the entrance ticket and an additional $60 for the Deluxe Safari, totally worth it! The deluxe safari gets you much closer to the animals, and the guide gives detailed explanations along the way. They stop for photos too, which is nice. We accidentally walked past the deluxe tour waiting point (it’s just next to the normal safari area along the elephant trail 😂), so just note, the normal safari cars are giraffe-painted, while the private/deluxe ones are zebra-painted. Easier to spot! Our guide, Daniel, was awesome, super knowledgeable and engaging. He even showed us animal items like fur, horns, and skeletons, which made it extra interesting. The small group size also meant he could spend more time explaining things to everyone. The only downside is the limited range of animals on the safari itself, mainly rhinos, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and camels roaming freely. You’ll also see bisons, Mongolian horses, and (I think) gazelles from a distance behind fences. Would’ve been nice to see elephants or hippos too, but it makes sense since the vehicles aren’t caged like in other safaris around the world. That said, you can still see elephants, lions, and more by walking around the zoo afterwards, so it’s not a dealbreaker. Another plus, the zoo has a baby feeding and diaper changing room, super clean and even has toys to keep toddlers occupied while you clean up. Overall, a great experience! Would definitely recommend the deluxe safari for a more personal and educational tour. 🦒🦏🦓

The open Zoo is awesome. I went on a school holiday so free for the kids. That was wonderful. No words to explain. We have two safari one is free with the entry ticket and the premium costs dollar fifty each. Our van went very near to the animals while the free safari was near too but goes only on road. Don’t wait to visit the zoo. I am delighted to post the naughty lions of the zoo.

Victoria State Rose Garden

Garden
Nature & Parks
The Victoria State Rose Garden is a serene and picturesque destination featuring over 5,000 roses of various species. This garden has received international acclaim and is meticulously cared for by dedicated volunteers. The layout of the garden resembles a five-petaled Tudor rose, with flourishing floribunda roses and modern hybrid tea beds. Visitors can stroll along walking paths, relax on benches, or even enjoy a picnic amidst the stunning floral displays.
🌹 A Stunning Hidden Gem in Werribee – A Must-Visit! 🌹 The Victoria State Rose Garden is an absolute paradise for nature lovers, flower enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a serene escape. Located within the Werribee Park precinct, this beautifully maintained garden is a true masterpiece showcasing thousands of vibrant roses in full bloom. Whether you're a photography enthusiast, a romantic at heart, or simply someone who enjoys a peaceful walk surrounded by breathtaking floral beauty, this place will not disappoint. What Makes This Place Special? ✅ Immaculately Maintained Gardens – The dedication of volunteers and staff is evident in every corner. The rose beds are meticulously arranged, and the variety of roses, from heritage to modern hybrid species, is simply mesmerizing. The fragrance that fills the air is something you have to experience firsthand. ✅ Stunning Layout & Design – The garden is uniquely shaped like a Tudor Rose, with beautifully arranged sections that allow visitors to admire different varieties. The walkways are well-planned, making it easy to explore every part of the garden. ✅ Perfect for All Ages – Whether you’re bringing children, elderly family members, or just visiting solo, the garden provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the scenery, making it a great spot for a picnic. ✅ Great for Photography & Events – If you love taking pictures, you’ll be in heaven! Every angle offers a perfect shot, whether it’s a close-up of a dew-kissed rose or a wide landscape of colorful blooms. It’s also an ideal setting for weddings, proposals, or even just a peaceful afternoon stroll. ✅ Free Entry! – Unlike many botanical gardens, entry is completely free, making this one of the best budget-friendly attractions in Victoria. Areas for Improvement: 🔸 Parking & Entrance Driveway – While the garden itself is absolutely stunning, the parking area and entrance could use some improvements. The driveway leading in is a bit rough, and during peak times, finding a parking spot can be challenging. Hopefully, some enhancements will be made to accommodate more visitors comfortably. Final Thoughts: This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and well-kept gardens in Victoria, and a must-visit if you're in Werribee or the surrounding areas. Whether you visit in spring for peak bloom or summer for a colorful spectacle, it’s always a joy to experience. Highly recommended! 🌹💖

🌹 Victoria State Rose Garden - A Blooming Piece of Heaven 🌹 The Victoria State Rose Garden is honestly one of my favourite places to visit. Every time I go, I’m amazed by how beautifully it’s maintained - rows upon rows of roses in every colour imaginable, each one perfectly cared for. The scent in the air is divine, and the atmosphere is so peaceful you can’t help but feel lighter just walking through. It’s the perfect spot for a slow stroll, quiet reflection, or even just sitting under a tree surrounded by blooms. RAAF Museum

Military Museums
Located in Point Cook, just 25 minutes from Melbourne, the RAAF Museum is the original home base of the Australian Flying Corps. This museum offers a fascinating look into the history of Australian aviation and features vintage aircraft displays, including helicopters and various generations of fighters. Visitors can enjoy interactive flying displays on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, showcasing heritage aircraft such as the Tiger Moth and Mustang. The museum also offers guided tours for groups of six or more upon request.
For aviation lovers or anyone curious about Australia’s military past, the RAAF Museum at Point Cook is a must-visit. As the birthplace of the Royal Australian Air Force, this historic airfield sets the perfect stage for a museum that combines impressive aircraft, interactive exhibits, and a deep sense of legacy. Walking through the hangars, I was struck by how close you can get to the planes—ranging from early biplanes to modern jets. The displays are thoughtfully curated, blending technical detail with personal stories of those who served. There’s something quietly moving about standing beneath a WWII-era bomber or reading letters sent home from airmen in the field. It’s not just about machines; it’s about people, bravery, and innovation. One thing to note: the museum is not open all year round, and visits are only available on selected days with limited time slots. It’s essential to check the official website and book ahead—entry is free, but registration is required. I was lucky to catch one of the open days, and it’s absolutely worth planning around. The museum also runs regular flying displays (check the schedule), which bring the exhibits to life with real aircraft taking to the skies. Even without a show, the open-air setting and access to restricted RAAF history make this a unique experience you won’t find elsewhere in Australia. Whether you’re a lifelong avgeek, a history buff, or just looking for something different to do in Melbourne, the RAAF Museum offers an unforgettable deep dive into the stories that helped shape the skies over Australia.

A wonderful experience at the RAAF Museum in Point Cook! 💙 The exhibits are fascinating, and the volunteers are truly amazing so passionate, kind, and full of knowledge. Their stories brought history to life. Thank you for sharing it with such love and dedication! ✈️
Riya G — Google review
The staff and volunteers at the RAAF Museum are absolutely outstanding, friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They take the time to explain the details of the aircraft, objects, and historical events, making the whole visit both informative and engaging. Their passion for aviation and history really brings the museum to life. Entry is completely free, which is incredible considering the quality and depth of the exhibits. The museum itself is impressive, with around 10 to 15 aircraft on display and thousands of objects including uniforms, machine guns, missiles, aviation equipment and other things. The collection covers a huge timeline — from before World War I, through World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, East Timor, and even modern conflicts such as Afghanistan. Each section is beautifully presented, showing the evolution of the Royal Australian Air Force and its contribution to global history. The souvenir shop has really good prices. The volunteers make the experience even better with their enthusiasm and storytelling. A few practical tips: bring photo ID to enter, as it’s inside an active military base, and check the official website for updated opening hours before you go and book is mandatory. Parking is free and easy, and the site is well maintained and accessible. Even if you’re not a big aviation fan, this museum is an incredible way to learn more about Australia’s military history and see up-close the technology and courage that shaped it. It’s informative, emotional, and absolutely worth the trip. A true hidden gem in Melbourne’s west!

This is a world class museum that does a great job of presenting the history of the RAAF. The museum starts with a gallery that highlights the force’s roles in war. Visitors then move through three large hangers containing historically important aircraft and further displays. The aircraft are well presented and many are the only examples of the type in Australia - some are the only survivors in the world. At 1 pm there was a well executed flying display featuring a CT4 trainer performing aerobatics. The pilot and volunteers gave interesting short talks about the history of the aircraft and the display. All the staff at the museum are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The main problem with the museum is that it’s not serviced by public transport, with the nearest bus stop being 20 minutes walk away. I got Ubers from the nearest train station which were about $20 each way. The hanger displaying recent jet fighters is also currently closed while OH&S issues are fixed - this was disappointing. There are also some quirks to visiting. As the museum is on an active RAAF base, visitors need to register online by 8 am on day they visit and bring photo ID. There are also not any food or drink options. The museum website explains these any other issues.

They are only open on Sundays and Thursdays and advanced booking is a must. Please carry a photo ID for entry. Well managed by the team. Great insight in to the history of RAAF.

Interesting museum, this is on an active air base so tickets must be bought 24hrs in advance. Great selection of aircraft and a great history of the site and the RAAF told through the exhibits.

Visitors can indulge in wine tastings, wood-fired pizzas, and tasting platters while enjoying scenic views of the vineyard and lake from the open-air deck. The winery is known for its pet-friendly environment, even featuring a Pet of the Week on their social media.
We had a lovely lunch at Gisborne Peak. The menu was minimal, but the shared platter was yummy, and woodfire pizza was delicious as well. Friendly staff and great customer service. Indoor and outdoor seating available overlooking the lake. A variety of wines to purchase and have with your meals. Wine tasting at the cellar door available to purchase . Accommodation also available on site.

Gisborne Peak (Winery) Is not a Winery no Wine is produced on the premises The grapes are sent to Hanging Rock Winery and the wine is bottled there. This so called Winery is in a residential area and infringes on the people that live in the area It has been closed for nearly a year. With renovations and building done without council approval. It is an eye sore with the nets from last season's crop laying on the ground between the vines. The place should be closed permanently.

Hi Team Tony & myself would be more than happy to write a review about how thrilled we were with our 38th wedding anniversary vacation at your facility. The cleanliness of our accommodation was impeccable & with all the comforts one would need for an enjoyable holiday. The peacefulness of our surroundings made our stay very relaxing & enjoyable away from the usual hustle & bustle of our everyday lives. We enjoyed a scrumptious meal in your restaurant & the service from your hospitality staff, in particular a lady called Lynn was first class. Lynn was extremely friendly & took the time needed to explain both our menu options & how we could redeem our Red Balloon voucher for our meal & various items in your gift shop. Tony & myself do travel quite extensively & would not hesitate to recommend your facility to our friends & family & the wider community via the below mentioned platforms. Although this was our first time staying at your facility it will most certainly not be our last. Congratulations on managing such a wonderful facility that deserves all of the accolades & awards received to date & beyond.

We had the pleasure of staying at Gisborne Peak Winery and were greeted by very lovely smiles and service given by Linny and Lynn in the restaurant. They went above and beyond to let us know of local experiences, things to do and places to visit. The food was also very delicious and well priced. We were soon given our keys to the accommodation, which was set up very average at most. There were a few things that need revamping and work, but we did enjoy our short and sweet stay and didn’t let us bother us too much. We would definitely be back for the restaurant!

Came here on a weekday. Nice quiet winery. Service was amazing. Lovely lady who served us and even offered to take photo for us. The wine was superb and serving portion was generous. We also had the chocolate lava cake which was gooey and delicious! Place was cozy. Would highly recommend to friends and family

We went for Sunday lunch and reserved a table over the web. The cafe is situated in lovely area and quaintly decorated. We Ordered the large grazing platter and a wood fried pizza to share. The food was delicious, the Turkish bread and the pizza were really yummy. Food price was on the high side though. The pizza was small but priced at $22. The coffee was good. The staff were friendly and served with a smile. Onsite unisex toilets. Plenty of parking. No split bills. There are cottages to rent on site as well.

Randomly chose this place with my husband on a day trip to Gisborne with 2 family members from England and New Zealand. We chose the large sharing platter and a bottle of wine recommended by our hostess Lynn. The food and wine did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and inviting even though cold outside. The service from Lynn was exceptional. We plan to visit again with more family to enjoy. Thank you Lynn for your service with a smile.

Forest Glade Gardens

Nestled in the Macedon Ranges, Forest Glade Gardens is a picturesque and diverse garden featuring English, Italian, and Japanese influences. The lush grounds are adorned with rare plants, water features, and sculptures. Visitors can explore various themed garden rooms and enjoy the serene woodland area and fern gully. While there are hills and steps throughout the gardens, it's a lovely spot for a leisurely stroll or a romantic outing.
A beautiful private garden. Lots of area to explore, but you could comfortably see the majority of the gardens in 1.5hrs. Certain back areas are steep, the small children (under 6yo) walking these did not seem to have a good time. Gardens are lovely for a picnic. Limited parking close by, there is a free shuttle from the town close by, but it is only a 15-20min walk for those who are keen.

I went to Forest Glade Garden in the fall, saw beautiful autumn trees and many different types of trees with brilliant colours, the fresh air was magical, the diverse themed gardens, the sculptures and natural beauty, walking around the beautiful garden with many colors was wonderful. The colourful Japanese maple trees and many works of art created a charming beauty for the garden. When I came here, I spent a few hours walking around to explore, here each different season the area will have different beauty, especially the autumn with full of colours. Highly recommended 😊

Beautiful beautifulllll place. Could easily spend hours here during spring. Requires a lot of walking - sometimes up and down hill but definitely worth it

This garden is exceptional and all the parts are worth visiting, especially the fern gully, if you can make it down all the stairs! It is a great and relaxing view. The garden is filled with beautiful plants and flowers. The garden everyday is worth the visit no matter the season except when it’s raining, if it is though the staff are more than happy to give you an umbrella. I want to give a shoutout to Robert he was very nice and gave us some great stories about the gardens. The staff also do a fabulous job with keeping the gardens in order. The only comment I have is that more signage might be needed in the fern gully as we were close to getting lost many times though overall exceptional gardens and service.
Owen W — Google review
The garden itself was alright, but the experience was completely ruined by the staff especially the older lady at the front ticket office (visit date 26/9/25). From the moment we arrived, she was unwelcoming and spoke to us in a very rude and condescending manner. Instead of greeting us politely, she demanded that we stand there and read every single word on the notice board, almost like she was lecturing us. What was even more disappointing was that she didn’t treat other (white) visitors the same way, which made us feel like we were being singled out because of our skin colour. She took away my 3 year old’s small ball, saying no equipment was allowed not even a soft ball or a flying saucer (like a frisbee plate). My child was upset but handed it over politely. To make it worse, as soon as we entered, we saw other children playing with balls and flying saucers freely. We recorded videos as evidence showing that other kids were allowed to play inside while our child was restricted (screen shots from the video are attached for reference). When I showed the evidence to the old rude lady at the front, her response was, “OH, I DIDN’T KNOW I DIDN’T MEAN TO DISCRIMINATE”. The fact that she said the word “DISCRIMINATION” herself says a lot. Beyond that, toilets were poorly maintained the smell was unbearable. No proper parking, expect a long walk, which is especially difficult with little kids. The map provided is completely confusing and useless we had no idea where anything was, and other visitors looked lost as well. Proper signage or name tags near sculptures or garden areas would be much more helpful. This place really needs friendlier and more professional staff, especially at the front entrance. A beautiful garden means nothing if visitors are made to feel unwelcome or treated unfairly.
Madzy B — Google review
Forest Glade Gardens is an awesome experience! There is so much to look at and see. We went to 2 gardens on the day and this was by far the best of the 2. Spent almost 3 hours at Forest Glade compared to just over 30 minutes at the other place we visited on the same day. Be prepared to do some hill walking if you want to see it all though. It was very busy, however it wasn't crowded and most parts of the garden were very accessible despite the crowd. The only downside is that there are not enough toilets and I think this could be improved on. But overall well worth the visit! Totally enjoyable!

What an awesome place to both visit and also have a birthday party at! The activities are fantastic under the birthday VIP package. We rode ponies, enjoyed a tractor ride around the farm, milked a cow, visited chickens, and pat bunnies. Every kid at the party had a go at something and everyone had a wonderful time. I was worried we’d rushed for time or run late…but the head farmer assigned to our party group helped keep things moving graciously on reasonable schedule. I definitely recommend for parties. I was able to decorate the marque space and was able to set something great up using the space! The venue had everything I needed with tables, chairs and tables along with table covers, plates, drinks and party food for the kids. There was a “bar” area which I was able to use to hold drinks in a built in sink and have a grazing table spread for adults. Food servings were generous for the kids and the food was delicious! I recommend touring the site to work out your decoration needs to add your own unique spin to the party space. Thoughtful touches like an A/c blowing cool air into the marquee was lovely. The team working the day were super kind, accommodating and helpful however they can. The animals had so much open space, fed super well and looked healthy and happy. You sensed they were at peace just enjoying life 🐄

We celebrated our son’s 5th birthday at animal land and it was awesome! They decorated the whole place up with party hats and plates and even gave out lollies to all the kids in a cute glass bottle. Sarah brought us around the farm. We get to milk the cows, sat in the tractor and the kids get to pick the eggs from the chicken coop and sat in the pony. We get to bring the eggs home after that. My son had a great time and we can see how happy the kids were patting all the animals in the animal nursery part. I received feedbacks that it is the best party ever. Thank you, animal land!

First of all, this place is spectacular. It has a great view and a nice walking path for leisure and unwinding. If you want some me time, this is a great place It's great for a picnic with family and friends. As a mental health key worker, coming to this place has become part of my self-care. I also take my clients to this place, and they love it. So I would really recommend this place.

Brought my daughter here for the guided tour and Devonshire tea. We had a great time with the guide, she was lovely with lots of knowledge. Feeding and petting the horses, learning a little about them, and enjoying the views and horses while being taken around on the golf cart. When it came to getting our tea and scones, we waited 30 mins, while others had all received theirs, even the ones that had ordered after us. It wasn't until we went up to the counter to say we were going to leave and not to worry that they brought them out in takeaway containers. It's a Saturday and the school holidays, they should be much more prepared for crowds and busy times. We will come back to do the guided tour but not so sure on the tea and scones.

Great place to visit retired racing champions. The tour is the way to go as the staff are quite knowledgeable and you also get to feed these beautiful horses lots of carrots. The cafe is small with a limited choice of refreshments, a pretty rose garden and toilet facilities. It is only a short drive from Melbourne airport and we'll worth a visit for and horse/racing lover.

You can see the sheep, horses, pony's, chickens Then pop into the cafe were the serve light refreshments, coffee, cake (maybe skip the coffee it wasn't good). Then take a walk they have a few walking trails, a bike trail that goes to Moonee ponds.

Went there on a tour and it was wonderful. We were so shocked to hear that this beautiful place had been robbed and the theirs took horse blankets and machinery and many other items that were needed by this wonderful centre that looks after retired champion horses. They r in great need of donations to purchase what was stolen. The staff there give these beautiful animals love and respect they deserve after so many years of racing.

A couple of months ago we visited the Living Legends, the retirement home for ex-racehorses, it was a delightful experience for all ages. I brought my elderly mother, who loved seeing the horses up close and hearing their stories. The serene setting of the estate made it even more special. The charming homestead was perfect for a light lunch. We enjoyed a delicious spinach ricotta pastry, followed by Devonshire tea and a moist carrot cake. The friendly enough staff and cozy atmosphere added to the enjoyment, as did the cute little mouse that darted in and out of the dining room opposite the cafeteria. The grounds are beautifully maintained, making it a pleasure to explore. While walking, we encountered ‘Freddie,’ a friendly dog who appeared to belong to one of the staff or gardeners. He brought an unexpected touch of fun to the day. A fascinating highlight is the time capsule buried in 1993, set to be opened in 2043. It’s a wonderful piece of history that adds an intriguing layer to the visit. Facilities like the outdoor toilets are available, which is good to keep in mind when planning. Overall, Living Legends offers a unique blend of nature, history, and hospitality. It’s a peaceful destination perfect for animal lovers or anyone looking for a charming day out. Highly recommended! ******************************************* Returned again and what a cute surprise being visited by the resident mouse in the dining room ;)

Sights & Landmarks
The Melbourne Star Observation Wheel is a massive rotating wheel offering 360-degree views and glass-enclosed cabins for up to 20 people. It provides a unique introduction to the color, history, and culture of the city. Whether you're familiar with Melbourne or visiting for the first time, it offers a spectacular way to get your bearings. The 30-minute rotation allows you to take in ever-changing views of inner Melbourne, lush gardens, sports stadiums, cultural precincts, and Port Phillip Bay.
The Melbourne Star Observation Wheel may soon “spin” again in Docklands The Melbourne Star (previously Southern Star) is a closed 120 metre tall ferris wheel in the suburb of Docklands in Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. Aerial perspective of the Docklands: Melbourne Flyer, the District and Docklands film studio Described by its operators as an "observation wheel" and claimed to be "the Southern Hemisphere's only giant observation wheel" it is 120 m (394 ft) tall and has seven spokes, reflecting the seven-pointed star of the Australian flag. It opened two years behind schedule in December 2008, but closed 40 days later due to structural defects. The wheel itself was scrapped and replaced, but the original support structure and passenger cabins were retained. It was originally thought that reconstruction might be completed in late 2010, but repeated delays meant it did not reopen until 23 December 2013. A ride (one complete rotation) takes 30 minutes and, according to the Star's website, provides uninterrupted 360-degree views of up to 40 kilometres (25 mi) "encompassing the Docklands precinct, Melbourne’s CBD, Port Phillip Bay and as far as Mount Macedon, Arthurs Seat and the Dandenong Ranges. The Wheel permanently closed on 6 September 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It's a pity that it's closed now. If you come at night, I think it will be very romantic.

Great place to visit with family and friends. Kids enjoyed it a lot. Nice views of Melbourne and great to visit during nice and clear day. Night views are also great. During night time they lit up the wheel which looks great from distance. We visited during school holidays and have to wait about 2 hours due to the long queue however due to the wait we get to see both day and night views of Melbourne. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great cafes and restaurants available. Toilets are available on site. Lots of on street and undercover parking available.

Really wish this iconic landmark would reopen. It's such a must-see and has been since I was young and visiting Melbourne in the early 2010s. Visiting docklands isn't the same without this operating.

A Melbourne icon and a fantastic place to see thhis beautiful city from a new perspective. The pods are climate controlled and the wheel turns so slowly that you barely feel it moving. Views are just phenomenal. Plenty of close parking and restaurants nearby for a fun day or night out.

Wonderful experience, the staff were lovely and the pricing was good, you can even go around again straight away for $2. The view is amazing at night or during the day. I would definitely recommend checking this out!

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the queues were small, which was a bonus. An even better bonus was getting a cabin all to ourselves as there were not many other visitors at the time. The views were great and the commentary was good too, however we thought there could have been some ambient music or something whilst there was no commentary. The staff were lovely and helpful, also there is an impressive Lego model of the wheel in the gift shop which is a must see!

This is my second time to take on. The first the lady attendant was real rude and didn't allow my friend and I have our own cabin while there less than 10 clients. That's the main reason I took off one star for it. This time the friendly male attendant give me a way much better experience! Got amazing photos and really enjoyed my journey.

The beach itself is alright. Not the prettiest but a decent place if you want to cycle or jog along this beach. I would imagine it will be a much better experience if the sky wasn't gloomy :') anyway I came here for the wild penguins and this place is convenient with tram. Easily accessible

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium is a popular attraction for families and travelers in Melbourne. It houses over 10,000 marine animals, including sharks, crocodiles, penguins, and colorful fish. The aquarium features 12 interactive zones where visitors can walk through underwater tunnels to observe sea creatures swimming overhead. Additionally, guests can come face to face with Pinjarra, one of Australia's largest saltwater crocodiles. The aquarium also offers daily shows that educate visitors about the importance of conservation.
Love it the place was f I almost animals all underground and and some hands of touch if sea life. We didn't get allergy reaction to touch the star fish. The croc are way tiny than the one in Darwin. Nice lightening for photos and heaps to look. There is long walk and dev kept me going. As have to keep his pace. We did it in 2 hrs. And good place to eat They are some photos you can have the 4D cinema and VR are awesome.

A visit to Sealife is a wortwhile and enjoyable activity for the whole family. There is something for everyone and a wide selection of exhibits. They have sharks, rays, turtles, jellyfish, seahorses a touch tank, frogs, snakes and penguins! The lift upgrade was happening during our visit so had to park the pram out front. We had reserved a pram spot but were strongly advise against it unless we absolutely needed it. Managed ok without it. They have "free" pictures which they ask you to pay $40 for at the end. To be fair they come in a very cute book and it is a neat souvenier. Overall, recommend. Will be good once the lift is fixed.
Alana D — Google review
It was ok, maybe were just spoilt other similar places around the word are way better. I really wanted to give it 3.5 but that wastnt an option. I went with my 15 year old daughter and we went as slow as we could and were in and out in under 2 hours. The exhibits were pretty good but there was a lot a areas with nothing. You also couldn't really do multiple laps more like a one way system. It was also very tired and in need of a huge update. So areas were unique and very enjoyable like jelly fish section. The crocodile pen was closed which we were unaware of. I does get really busy, I don't think it's worth queueing up for long unless you've neve been to an aquarium before. It's also on the expensive side for what there is. Perth Aqua which I think is better is about $20 cheaper. The only good thing is kids age is 15 which is very fair.
Mr S — Google review
We've been members here for years and totally love it. They've renovated, especially with a cool new section where you can check out native marine life like biscuit starfish and spider crabs, and explore the rocky shore. The interactive rockpool is awesome for all ages, and their staff are super helpful, explaining all the species. One young Asian guy, I didn't catch his name, was amazing – he'd notice us looking at something and then drop extra facts. My toddler was hooked and learned so much from him! We went on a Friday around lunchtime. This place always delivers with spot talks all day long. We ended up staying over four hours. If you're coming from far, they have designated parking for a discount, but definitely check their website first. This time, we parked across at Crown Multi Parking and only paid $15 since we arrived before lunch and left around 4 pm. Their membership is worth buying especially if you have a little and wants to come for few hours. I highly recommend.
Jolie F — Google review
Wonderful exhibit, loved how interactive it was and lots for many different age groups, walking through the tunnel aquarium with big sharks and rays swimming above you is excellent. Penguins were the best part. Food quite reasonably priced wrap very yummy (chips too)
Rachel D — Google review
My partner took me here for a surprise date! He knows I love fish… it was perfect. I would recommend getting tickets in advance because it’s cheaper and if your students too there is a discount. The aquarium itself is quite large and the area where you can touch the starfish was nice. Although I feel bad about going to aquariums I think it’s nice to inform the general population about ecosystems that are in danger and how to help them as common people. I think fish are quite the underestimated and not so seen importance of our earth. I’m happy to see animals but it makes me sad to see them in enclosures. I hope that Sealife is an active participant in the ocean life and contributes in helping with the destruction of our earth.
Celine — Google review
The aquarium is much larger than I expected, and its strongest feature is the jellyfish zone, genuinely stunning and almost hypnotic to watch. The penguin exhibit is also engaging, helped by the addition of a fun 4D cinema experience. That said, there are several drawbacks. The souvenir prices are noticeably inflated, often around 40% higher than what you’d find elsewhere. Some of the larger tanks feel surprisingly empty, with fewer fish than you’d expect in a space that size. The overall variety of marine life is a bit limited, and there aren’t many interactive activities to keep the experience dynamic.
Joneth A — Google review
Was a nice experience. takes around 2 hours to go through the whole aquarium. My criticism of it from when I went to this aquarium when it first opened and then 5 years ago is that they have way less marine life now. Not sure of it’s a cost cutting measure or for animal welfare? Some of the tanks looked amazing and some had 3 fish in them for example. And lots of walking around with big open spaces but would prefer more tanks of marine life.

I purchased a white Saffiano leather handbag from Prada at the outlet store in Montevarchi Tuscany in July 2023 whilst on holidays. I carefully stored the handbag and in October 2023 I took the bag out of the dust bag for the first time to use it. To my utmost shock, the white leather on the front and back was now a shade of yellow, the sides and bottom were the original white colour. I called Prada in Melbourne, they told me that I would have to take the bag to them for photographing and that they would contact their head office - which I did. They assured me that they had never seen this sort of discolouration before. (I now know this to be rubbish based on other reviews that I have seen!) I requested that they find a replacement bag for me - they claim that they were unable to find one. They had very similar ones in their store but they never offered to replace the defective one. After a very long and painful process taking several months, they agreed to give me my money back for the defective bag. This took well over a month and when they did transfer the money, they short paid me and blamed it on the bank fees - which was their responsibility to cover. I will never purchase a Prada product again. I would recommend choosing another brand.

First time attempting to shop at the Crown store for my birthday usually I shop at Collins St store (Which is always amazing service) and my partner and I have an extensive purchase history with them, was just denied entry into the store this afternoon by two girls while I was wearing multiple products from Prada.. Assuming it was the way I look wearing a hoodie, it’s cold in Melbourne tho and can’t understand why I was turned away, it really ruins the experience for a long term client 😭
Strarn W — Google review
Just had the best experience at this store! Christine has been following up with me via text on the availability of some items, she is really knowledgeable and I can’t stress enough how much she did care making us feel welcome. As an alternative client (coloured hair, urban fashion lover), I haven’t felt so accepted in many places unfortunately, and I can’t stress enough how amazing the customer service is at this particular Prada store. Thanks to the whole team for making high end fashion a little bit more diverse and inclusive!

I have been to every designer store but I have never experienced genuine customer service like I received from every single employee working at Prada Crown today. History museum
The Immigration Museum, located in the historic Customs House on Flinders Street, offers a compelling exploration of Australia's immigration history. Through multimedia exhibits and interactive displays, it delves into the journeys and experiences of refugees and immigrants who settled in Victoria. The museum showcases personal stories, family photos, historical documents, and archival images to illustrate the contributions made by immigrants to Australian culture and society. It provides a timely opportunity for visitors to gain insight into global refugee crises while reflecting on Melbourne's multicultural heritage.
It was a very WOW, Fun, 100% amazing and very interactive and memorable and incredibly informative experience for me . As I am the immigrant from HK since 1998. I totally can related to what exhibits at the moment and it’s very interesting and it just blow my mind thank you #immigration #museum #victoria #melbourne #aUS . Bang on Victorian politicians or government ministers…etc. well spent on funding for something like that 👍❤️🙏🥰. Okay I better stop talking too much on Google official platform here as my photos can tell a million words…. And yes I am Asian and my English may not very Aussie . lol

Immigration Museum – A Journey Through Stories and Heritage I visited the Immigration Museum in Melbourne with a friend, and it proved to be a deeply rewarding experience. As someone who loves museums, I found this visit exceptional from start to finish. From the moment we entered the historic Old Customs House building on Flinders Street, its architecture alone speaks to Melbourne’s past; there was a sense of stepping into both history and present‑day relevance. Inside, the exhibition spaces are thoughtfully arranged to tell multiple stories: why people migrate, how they arrive, the challenges they face, and the contributions they make. Every gallery was well‑designed, with a blend of personal testimonies, historical objects, interactive displays, and immersive narrative. One moment that stood out: recognizing how migration is not just about physical journeys, but also about identity, belonging and change, things we all can relate to. The museum’s thoughtful attention to experience is evident. They provide accessible entrances and supports for sensory‑sensitive visitors, showing the commitment to inclusion. The multiple levels of the building allow both a broad perspective of immigration history and deeper dives into specific cultural stories. What I valued most about the visit was how it made me reflect not only on the past of Victoria and Australia, but also on my own sense of place and identity. Sharing the tour with a friend enhanced the experience, as we discussed what resonated, what surprised us, and what stays with us. In short: this was more than a museum visit, it was an invitation to appreciate our collective journeys, our communities, and the stories that shape us. Visiting the Immigration Museum reminded me that learning about others’ stories inevitably enriches how we understand our own.

Stepping inside Melbourne’s historic Old Customs House to explore the Immigration Museum was such a fascinating experience – a glimpse into the stories, journeys and cultures that shaped Australia. 🗺✨ The highlight for me was Beci Orpin’s Joy – a burst of colour, creativity and belonging. I honestly felt like I’d stepped right back into my childhood 🧡 Jumping on the giant fluffy bunny was the best part (I could’ve happily napped there all day!). Another favourite was Video Land – pure nostalgia stacked on every shelf. 🎬✨ It instantly took me back to the 90s… Friday night trips to Blockbuster, searching for new releases and hoping they weren’t all rented out.
Simply_Linda_xo — Google review
An overlooked gem that’s worth visiting for locals and tourists alike. The Joy exhibition is nearly done but we loved it. The rest of the museum is really interesting and well done.
Nicholas R — Google review
I visited the Immigration Museum on a Saturday in September 2025. Coincidentally, it was the same day as immigration protests outside which ironically made the museum itself pretty quiet. The museum is right in the city and super easy to get to, with plenty of trams out the front and Flinders Street as well as Southern Cross Station just a short walk away. The building itself is a large, old heritage building with clear signage, accessible entry, and beautiful traditional architecture that really sets the vibe as you step inside. Entry is free for concession card holders and reasonably priced for adults. I walked in and with no wait, got my ticket from one of the friendly staff. On the ground floor there’s a cosy reading room, including a kids’ section, plus an outdoor patio and a peaceful courtyard. They are the perfect spots to pause and soak in the atmosphere. Even the bathrooms here impressed me! They were spotless, modern, and filled with natural light. A huge contrast from the immersive theming of the exhibits but a really nice touch. Level one holds the permanent Immigration Museum exhibition, which is packed with interactive displays for both kids and adults. It explores the journey of immigration throughout history while also acknowledging how Indigenous owners were neglected in that process. There’s a gorgeous ballroom full of history and more exhibits that cover the 1900s, the impact of war, and how shifting ideologies shaped migration policies. Often with devastating consequences for individuals and families which is covered really well. On level two I was lucky enough to catch the temporary Joy exhibition, which was incredible. The foyer had a wall where visitors could write and share their own sparks of joy, and the exhibition itself was a series of immersive, artistic rooms interpreting joy in all kinds of ways. Highlights for me were the giant bunny room and the recreated Video Ezy shop filled with old VHS tapes. It was nostalgic, interactive, and honestly just so fun to explore. That level also continues the immigration story with personal accounts and reflections, connecting the past to modern immigration experiences and challenging how we see and treat people today. It was moving, thought provoking, and beautifully presented. The staff were warm and welcoming, the whole space felt inclusive and engaging, and I honestly loved my time here. If you want to better understand Australia’s immigration story, this is the perfect place to spend an afternoon. And if you get the chance, don’t miss the Joy exhibit before it finishes, it’s creative and super nostalgic.

What a wonderful place to visit. My parents were immigrants to Australia in the 50s and a lot of the photos held special meaning to me. You could easily spend over half a day reading all the information that is held here.

Our visit to Melbourne Skydeck was a truly memorable experience. It’s one of the best spots in the city to enjoy a panoramic view of Melbourne from high above. The observation deck gives a 360-degree view, allowing you to take in the skyline, river, and iconic landmarks all at once. Watching the sunset from the top was magical — the colors in the sky changed beautifully, making it perfect for photos. Many people also recommend the sunrise view for a peaceful start to the day. The place is very family-friendly, and our kids were excited to spot famous buildings and watch the trams below. The interactive displays made the experience more fun for them. We tried some food and drinks from the café; although the prices were a bit expensive, we really enjoyed the mocktails, which were refreshing and tasty. If you’re visiting Melbourne, this is a must-see attraction — especially for first-time visitors who want to see the city from above. A short visit can give you a great glimpse of the entire city. Overall, it’s a wonderful experience for both kids and adults.
