Perfect place for family with kids! Very cleanly maintained. Kids will enjoy definitely the park and the play area. Also there are bird shows and animal feeding sessions. Not recommended on a rainy day as the roads are muddy. You can take your own food too. Baby stroller can be taken too. Plenty of car parking available.
Pavankrishna R — Google review
We had a great day at the Wildpark, definitely recommend it. The bird show was interesting and entertaining. We didn’t get to see the tigers, guess they were hiding or sleeping but we plan to go back again. The view from the top was breathtaking, if you go definitely do that too.
Tashi — Google review
We had a wonderful day at the park! There is a great variety of animals to see and the landscape is beautiful, perfect for a relaxing walk. Our kid loved exploring, and the many playgrounds throughout the park were a fantastic bonus. We also rented a pull cart on-site, which is super convenient for families with young children. The only downside (as others have mentioned) is that some animals seem to stay very close to the fence, clearly waiting for food from visitors. Overall, a great experience and definitely a place we would recommend for a fun day out with family or friends!
Sien V — Google review
Really a nice park. Very beautiful, clean and fun. We loved that there were a lot of good and healthy food options, many great playgrounds all through the park and really informative sessions on the different animals throughout the day (though obly available on German).
Annika M — Google review

Nice Park with and lovely view from the Heide-Himmel
Katharina — Google review
A very nice zoological park. Lots of animals to feed and enjoy. Do be careful when walking through the deer paddock. If you stop in one spot don't feed the deer, they try to chew on your clothes! No damage was done and we had a good laugh, but our clothes went straight into the washing machine when we returned home.

If you make a trip to Hamburg you definitely have to see the Treppenviertel at Blankenese. But make sure that the weather is fine. It’s easy to reach via S-Bahn. 5000 steps are waiting to be entered. The landscape itself is breathtaking. You can easily spend a whole day out there enjoying the sea and the nature.

Lama H — Google review
Walked here all day and got a little lost in the forest close by, but this was truly the most memorable walk on my trip!!!
Richard H — Google review
From the Blankenese Train Station you need to walk about 5 minutes before you find the first flight of stairs (there is more than one). The flights are usually narrow, I can imagine it can feel a little crowded in the summer. You can walk along the Elbe and get very nice views of Blankenesen from the shore. Nice place to visit (located in the westernmost part of Hamburg)
Alejandro M — Google review
Nice place to have a walk from a wealthy neighborhood down to beach. There are some cafes and fancy hotels, restaurants around. Fresh air. No wonder it s the most expensive residential area in Hamburg

Designer Outlet Soltau

Mentioned on
3 lists
Shopping mall
Shopping
Designer Outlet Soltau is a modern open-air plaza located near the Soltau-Ost junction, offering a variety of factory outlet stores from well-known brands. With nearly 10,000 square meters of retail space, this outlet center provides a range of options for shoppers to explore. While it may not be very large, it offers a good selection of stores with quality collections and ample parking space for both cars and bikes. Visitors can also enjoy several dining options within the complex.
Limited stores, but most of the stores have good collections and not too crowded . So you got enough time to choose 😊. Mobile internet doesn’t work as the network signal too bad or none sometimes. I guess they will try to improve this. Enough parking space for cars 🚘 bike 🏍️ bike 🚲
Jobi T — Google review
A fair selection of shops We came early and had time to explore without too many other people there. We found a few good buys and had a nice couple of ours as a family and with a 6 year old child who especially enjoyed decorating her new Clogs, the playground and the cute decor around the outlet
L P — Google review
It is not very big, but it is an Outlet Center with most stores that can meet your needs. There are not many options for eating and drinking, there are a couple of different options. Also, the internet doesn't work in general for some reason :)
Nurgul D — Google review
Perfect.

One of the best places for shopping but unfortunately after 20:00 o clock the Tesla super chargers outside of the same area cause of outlet being closed you cant use the tesla supercharger so don’t waste your battery and your time
MohammadMahdi H — Google review
Variety is ok but prices are much higher. Don’t expect discounted prices as per title of “outlet”.
Foot S — Google review
Small but good selection of stores. Limited food choices, but prices are reasonable.

Heide Park Resort

Mentioned on
9 lists

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Theme Parks
Heide Park Resort is the largest theme park in northern Germany, covering a massive 850,000m2 area with thrilling rides suitable for the whole family. From adrenaline-pumping roller coasters like Krake and Colossus to family-friendly attractions such as Wildwasserbahn and Indie-blitz, there's something for everyone. The park has reopened after the pandemic with safety measures in place, making it a fantastic experience for all ages.
It's a great entertainment center. It's in the middle of the forest, far from the city center. It's between Hamburg and Bremen. It's a 20-minute walk from Wolterdingen train station. It has a nice theme hotel inside. The hotel food is average, a little below average, but still not bad. The amusement park also has food options, which are below average. The entertainment starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. for everyone. Hotel guests can enter half an hour early but can only queue. The attractions also start at 10 p.m. Wait times are on average 20-30 minutes. Wait times for ages 8 and under are shorter, around 5 minutes. If you're quick, you can visit and enjoy one attraction in one day. If you take it slow, it even takes two days. It's a must-see for anyone with children aged 12-29. The park design, roller coasters, and themes are all excellent. It would be great if they upgraded the food service as well.
Sky — Google review
I haven't been here in years. We arrived right when it opened and stayed until closing time. I was looking forward to coming here, and I was not disappointed. We had such a great time! The weather was mixed, which was good, as it meant that the crowds were not that large and the wait times were reduced. I went on every rollercoaster, and some even several times. The food was pretty good, too. I bought a few souvenirs and I must say the prices are really not that bad compared to other theme parks I have been to. I was still smiling the next day! I highly recommend a visit! I can't wait to come back! Next time, we'll stay the night.
Terence H — Google review
Great experience. Great day to be here. Not too many people as school has started and summer holidays are mostly over. Wait time was between 10 and 60 minutes. Only note is that some queues were not covered which meant in sunny weather it could get quite hot. The thrill roller-coasters were amazing. The only roller-coaster I would NOT recommend is the double-loop one. Headache machine.
Sofie S — Google review
It is a great place to spend with the family. We visited the amusement park in the middle of the week. It was great to see it is not crowed and waiting times were between 10 to max 30min for the main attractions. It makes it really enjoyable not like other parks with super long waiting time and too many people that you hardly can breath. The restaurants inside offer various dishes and the quality was good, a bit pricey though which is normal in such a park. The only thing, some of the staff or instructor at some attractions were not really friendly. They might forgot where they work. The access to the park by car from Hamburg less than an hour was very fine. The parking space very well available. The access by public transport is a bit long though. It is a recommended place to visit. There are entertainment available for almost all ages.
Omid M — Google review
It was a really quiet day when we were there so easy to get on any ride we wanted. Everything seemed in good working order although it needed a bit of freshening up after the summer season (we were there in late September). The were still plenty of options for eating and things were reasonably priced (for a theme park!). The ride staff were great and interacted with our children well (our children don’t speak German). Because it was quieter, they allowed us and others to just keep riding those rides without a line. A good day and a good experience. The only problem we had was getting into the correct carpark!
Benjamin H — Google review
I've been to the Heide Park twice now and I can only recommend it!! Yes, it is kinda expensive but isn't every adventure park? Heide Park has a lot of different rollercoasters, which are all really exciting!! You also have a big wheel 🎡 !! Something that I think is really cool is the fact that the Heide Park has different "scenes". You walk through different worlds and it's truly fascinating!! It's a relly cool place to visit! ^^
Marta ( — Google review
Cool park with thematic atmosphere. 5 stars The rides are more geared towards younger people. The rides are really cool. A great place to spend time with the family.
EVG — Google review
We came from far away especially for this park, as we had promised our little daughter. We had been here before, and she really enjoyed it and wanted to return. We entered the park, and immediately a heavy downpour began. We went into the shop at the entrance and waited for an hour. The rain didn’t stop. We approached customer service and asked to postpone our tickets to the following day — our request was denied. We waited another hour and tried, for our daughter’s sake, to continue through the park. We were soaked to the bone, and all the rides were closed. There was absolutely no way to fulfill our promise to her. Apart from walking around in the rain, there was nothing to do! I contacted customer service by email, hoping they would show some flexibility and let us enter on another day. But no — that's their policy, with no exceptions. After about two hours, with no sign of the rain stopping, we simply left. The disappointment for our daughter — and for us — was indescribable. It’s truly a shame that this is how children are treated. We, the parents, pay full admission just so the kids can have fun, and the park didn’t even take this small step to accommodate us by allowing a replacement visit. What a pity!

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Bird park with 675 species, from hummingbirds to condors, penguins to parrots, plus botanic gardens.
Truly excellent park! The birds and other animals are well cared for and appear to be very happy and healthy. The gardens and enclosures are very well maintained and presented, bravo to the staff! Please give yourself as many hours possible to take in as much off the park as possible as it is much bigger and more diverse than you can imagine. Loved every minute we spent in here.

So wonderful here. Lovely park with a great variety of birds and peaceful surroundings. Clean, well maintained, and perfect for a relaxing visit. We will come back to visit again.

It is very cool to see many plenty of birds there. Very interesting and it is also a fun activities for the kids. The ticket costs 22.90 Euro in Summer time.

Amazing experience. So many amazing creatures the nature created in one spot. Of course it feels a bit sad to see the birds in cages, but it also feels this parc does everything to protect the animals and to make life for them as good as possible.
Toni — Google review
Fantastic zoo, really enjoyed it. So many unusual and exotic birds
Mark M — Google review
Birds are in a medium sized area. Seeing some was near impossible due to foilage. The show at 11.30 and 16.00 was great. Would however be appreciated to have multi language. When I visited years ago it was. This was a bummer.

We had an absolutely wonderful visit this August. We had prebooked the penguin feeding and got to meet them up close together with a very welcoming zookeeper. We can only recommend a visit here, it's worth the trip.

Schnoor, Bremen's oldest district, is a charming neighborhood filled with 15th and 16th century timber-framed houses lining cobblestone streets. The name "Schnoor" actually means "line" in German, reflecting the way these houses are built side by side. Walking through this historical area feels like stepping into a fairytale, surrounded by galleries, cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Schnoor in Bremen, and I must say, it was one of the most charming experiences I've had in a long time. This historic neighborhood is a must-see for anyone traveling to Bremen. The narrow, cobblestone streets are lined with beautifully preserved 16th-century houses, each one telling a story of the past. The atmosphere is enchanting, with quaint shops, cafes, and restaurants tucked away in every corner. I loved getting lost in the winding streets, discovering hidden gems, and admiring the intricate architecture. The Schnoor is a true gem of Bremen, and I felt like I had stepped back in time. Whether you're a history buff, a foodie, or just looking for a unique experience, the Schnoor is a must-visit destination. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the authentic side of Bremen. *Tips:* - Take your time to wander the streets and discover the hidden gems. - Visit the local shops and cafes to get a feel for the community. - Don't miss the stunning architecture and historic landmarks. *Overall:* The Schnoor in Bremen is a truly unforgettable experience that will leave you with lasting memories. We absolutely loved exploring the Schnoor district in Bremen. It's a truly enchanting and picturesque neighborhood that feels like you've stepped back in time. Wandering through the narrow, cobblestone lanes lined with tiny, historic houses is a magical experience. The area is filled with unique boutiques, artisan workshops, and cozy cafés, each housed in a building with its own character. The atmosphere is lively yet intimate, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll, shopping for unique souvenirs, or simply soaking in the fairytale-like ambiance. It's the heart and soul of old Bremen and an absolute must-see for any visitor. We highly recommend taking your time to explore every little alley.

If there was a German Harry Potter, then it would be filmed in Bremen. The Schnoor district is Bremen’s oldest and most charming neighborhood, with winding alleyways and beautifully preserved half-timbered houses dating back to the 15th–18th centuries. Worth visiting 🙌🏼

Points of Interest & Landmarks
The Town Musicians of Bremen is a famous bronze statue in Bremen, Germany, depicting the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster from the Brothers Grimm's fairy tale. Created by artist Gerhard Marcks in 1953, it represents the popular German folktale about four animals seeking a new life as town musicians. The statue has become an iconic landmark in Bremen and attracts many visitors.
As someone who loves history and architecture, Bremen completely captivated me. It’s easily the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited. Walking through the city centre felt like stepping into a storybook; every corner seemed to tell a tale of its rich past, with stunning historical buildings and intricate architectural details. The famous Town Hall and Roland Statue are mesmerizing landmarks, and the cobblestone streets add to the city's charm. The Christmas market, especially just before Christmas Eve, was like a dream come to life; magical, enchanting, and filled with wonder. The festive stalls, glowing lights, and the aroma of mulled wine and roasted almonds created an atmosphere that was nothing short of extraordinary. It felt as though I had walked into one of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, complete with twinkling lights and joyous holiday spirit. The blend of history, culture, and festive magic in Bremen made it an unforgettable experience. It’s not just a place you visit but one you feel deeply connected to, as if it was pulled straight from the pages of your favorite childhood storybook. Bremen is truly a city of wonders, especially during the Christmas season!
Bithy S — Google review
Bremen is a nice town. Interesting story around the musicians. Do not miss the church, the traditional stores including their famous chocolate, the candy making store, the narrowest street in germany as well as the manhole in the main square where you can listen to the animals for a coin. A great day trip place near Hamburg.
Carmen A — Google review
It cute, definitely a line to take photos of this statue. Wonderful little display in the town centre. Good to see. But it's just a statue.

Hello, I'm not the best storyteller and photographer, but if you're interested!! The city is beautiful and full of surprises. You just have to see the charm that Bremen can show and give. As one of!!! the most beautiful cities in Germany. I'm happy that I saw with my own eyes what you can see there. Yes, and a little bit of what I saw.

No visit to Bremen is complete without seeing the famous Town Musicians statue. This beloved bronze monument, depicting the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster from the Brothers Grimm fairytale, is as charming in person as you'd hope. It's become a wonderful tradition for visitors to make a wish while holding the donkey's front legs. You'll see the shiny, worn bronze from countless wishes made there. The statue is smaller than some expect. It's nestled in a perfect spot right next to the stunning Town Hall. Be prepared to wait a moment for your turn to take a photo, as it's deservedly one of the city's most popular attractions. A truly must see piece of art.

Bremen – A City of Character and Quiet Charm I found Bremen to be a city full of understated beauty. Its historic center, with landmarks like the Town Hall and the Roland statue, speaks to its rich past, while quiet streets and riverside paths offer a peaceful atmosphere. The Bremen Town Musicians statue adds a whimsical touch, especially for those who appreciate folklore. It’s not a loud or flashy destination, but if you enjoy history, culture, and a slower pace, Bremen is well worth a visit.

This is a must see statue depicting the most famous chapter of the story where the animal musicians scare away the robbers by creating a scary and noisy creature. It is best to (re-)read the short story first to get a better feel for the statue. We went before 8am and we were the only one there. It was peaceful and we had good morning light. We went later in the day as our traveling mascot, Pedals Puffin, wanted to see if he could join the musicians but alas he didn’t fit in the lineup. We had to wait in turn to get his photo opportunity.

As a Kurdish wanderer, the story of the Bremen Town Musicians resonates deeply with the spirit of our own people. Here you have these four animals – a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster – each cast aside, deemed "useless" by their former masters, facing a bleak future of being discarded or worse. Yet, instead of succumbing to despair, they unite, their shared vulnerability forging an unbreakable bond. This journey to Bremen, a mythical land of freedom where they hope to become musicians, is not just a physical one; it's a profound act of defiance. They refuse to accept their assigned fate. Their strength lies not in individual power, but in their collective wit and their unique, cacophonous harmony – a sound that scares away the robbers and secures their new home. This mirrors the Kurdish experience so powerfully. For generations, Kurds have been displaced, denied their rights, and subjected to the harsh realities of occupation and attempted cultural erasure by various colonizing and occupying powers. Like the animals, many have been deemed "unwanted" or a "problem." Yet, in the face of such adversity, the Kurdish people have consistently shown an extraordinary resilience. Our resistance, much like the animals' loud and startling "music," hasn't always been about overwhelming force, but about unity, ingenuity, and an unwavering determination to survive and thrive. We, too, have formed alliances, often out of necessity, with those who share our dreams of self-determination. The vision of a free Kurdistan, a "Bremen" where our culture, language, and identity can flourish without threat, continues to drive us. The Bremen Town Musicians found their home not in the city they set out for, but in a place they claimed through collective action. This reminds me that for the Kurdish people, true liberation might not be a pre-ordained destination, but a space forged through our continued struggle, our unity, and our refusal to be silenced. Like those musicians, we continue to sing our song, a testament to our enduring spirit against all odds.

What a wonderful pit stop on the way to Amsterdam from Hamburg. Standing in the middle of the square while the church tower was ringing was magical. So beautiful, makes you feel like you went back in time.

All the famous attractions in one spot, so if you just want to do the must sees, this is it. St Petri Dom, Böttcherstrasse, the Muscians, the Loch, the Rathaus - all in or just off the square. Other than one small souvenir kiosk, it is not at all touristy and certainly wasn’t crowded on a Monday at 11am. Easy to get to via public transport.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Magical Christmas atmosphere in the heart of Bremen! The Bremen Christmas Market is absolutely enchanting — one of the most beautiful festive experiences I’ve ever had! The whole city comes alive with sparkling lights, the smell of roasted almonds, mulled wine, and gingerbread filling the air. The market stalls are full of unique handmade gifts, traditional German treats, and beautiful decorations that make it impossible not to feel the Christmas spirit. The historic setting in the old town adds to the charm, especially around the stunning Bremen Town Hall and Roland statue. Everyone is so friendly, and there’s a real sense of warmth and joy everywhere you go. Whether you’re sipping hot chocolate, listening to carol singers, or admiring the lights by the river, it truly feels like stepping into a Christmas fairy tale. I would recommend the Bremen Christmas Market to anyone — it’s an unforgettable experience and the perfect way to celebrate the season!

German Emigration Center

Specialty Museums
The German Emigration Center, also known as Deutsches Auswandererhaus, is a large and modern museum in Bremerhaven that tells the stories of over 7 million Europeans who left their homes through the city's port in search of a better life in the New World. The museum showcases real-life accounts and numerous memorabilia, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the experiences of immigrants in Germany.
Great museum, lots of interactive stations to learn about emigration in general and to follow the story of the emigrate you were given. Explains the entire story from the many reasons for leaving, the travel and how it changed, arriving in the new countries, and fitting in once you did. Very well done and enjoyable!
Heather W — Google review
The German Emigration Center is a truly interesting and engaging museum. You’ll find many personal stories from people who emigrated over the years, which makes the experience feel very human and relatable. The entire exhibition is interactive, so you don’t just observe — you participate. There are also thought-provoking questions along the way that encourage you to reflect on your own beliefs about identity, migration, and belonging. A meaningful and well-designed museum experience.

This place is probably my favorite museum to date. If you have ancestors who came from Europe you will probably enjoy this museum very much. I spent 6 hours just in the emigration portion and could have spent more. Ensure you save time for some research, if that interests you. I spent a little over an hour there and they chased me out at 6:00, closing time.
Gweiland007 — Google review
Absolutely amazing museum, especially interesting for immigrants, but also anyone interested in the history of emigration. The rooms allow you to feel like you're immigrating to another continent, replicating the atmosphere of the time and journey. You also get your own card of immigrant to follow their fate, investigating the reasons, process and results of their immigration. There is a lot of information, inserted in atmospheric interiors. For example, you open a tab in the basin to read about daily life on a ship they used to cross the ocean. Audioguide is included and is very helpful. All info is both in German and in English. To take pictures you need to pay an extra 1,5 euros. Spent about 5 hours there, getting tired by the end. The museum is fully accessible (at least for a stroller) with the only exception of one of the toilets. You have to start by coming to an elevator with a staff member, but all the other elevators are easy to find and use.

Echoes of Ancestors in Every Timber! Cruising north from our strawberry-soaked escapades at Karls in Loxstedt, we pulled into Bremerhaven with a whisper of family lore tugging at our sleeves—stories of great-grandparents braving the Atlantic for American dreams. But nothing prepared us for the German Emigration Center; this isn't just a museum, it's a living, breathing portal to the past, hands down the most incredible one I've ever stepped into. Spanning 30,000 square meters of hauntingly recreated ship decks, cramped steerage bunks, and sun-dappled Ellis Island arrivals, it doesn't tell history—it immerses you in it, wave by relentless wave. We wandered (or rather, time-traveled) through the exhibits with hearts pounding: the tearful goodbyes in a mock 19th-century Bremerhaven pier, the salt-sprayed crossings where seasick immigrants clutched faded letters, and those raw tales of endurance—famine-fleeing Irish, pogrom-escaping Jews, dream-chasing Germans like my own kin. Interactive kiosks breathed life into yellowed documents, and holographic storytellers spun personal sagas that blurred the line between exhibit and epiphany. But the gut-punch? The passenger search database. Fingers trembling over the touchscreen, I punched in details from family whispers—age 22, boarding solo from a Hessian village in 1907—and there she was, immortalized on the ship's manifest: "Occupation: Servant. Traveling alone." The details hit like a rogue wave—her ticket number, the scrawled "healthy" stamp, the sheer audacity of a young woman crossing alone as a mail-order bride, heart full of hope and letters from a stranger waiting stateside. Tears? Unavoidable. It cracked open a floodgate, making the abstract agony of her ocean odyssey achingly real: storms that swallowed hope, ports that turned away the weary, and that fragile spark of "maybe America" that carried her through to a new life south of Omaha, building roots in Nebraska's wide-open plains. What started as a "let's peek in" morphed into three hours of soul-stirring revelation, spurring me straight to genealogy apps post-visit, hungry to trace every twist of that solitary quest—from rural farmlands across the Atlantic, and beyond to the prairies where dreams took soil. It's educational wizardry at its finest: poignant without preachiness, vast yet intimate, with English audio guides that wove it all seamlessly for us Yanks. If your roots whisper across the pond (or even if they shout), detour to Bremerhaven's Emigration Center—it's not a stop; it's a reckoning. Mine just got rewritten in salt and stardust. Danke for the inheritance; the journey home feels deeper now.

The most didactical museum you can imagine. It has a clear political program. Totally overcrowded and the museum does not miss any opportunity to educate you. The creepy life size migrants are more like a part of an experience park than a museum

Science museum
Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8 ° Ost is a modern meteorological center that offers interactive and family-friendly exhibits on weather and climate. Opened in 2009, this unique attraction takes visitors on a journey through various climate zones and cultures along the 8th meridian east. As you explore, you'll experience changes in temperature from the German North Sea Coast to the rainforest in tropical Cameroon, with each zone providing a multisensory experience of sounds, smells, and scenery.
This is an awesome place. There is so much here to enjoy - you can spend the whole day there and still not see everything. I went with my friend, four kids (6-11 years old) and a baby in a pram. It's a shame there isn't a ticket option that allows multiple entries since kids can get over-tired and distracted so they wouldn't necessarily last the whole day and I wouldn't mind another visit next time I'm in the area. However, it is really fun to explore, there are a lot of interesting exhibits, and it is fine for English speakers too. There is a pram-friendly route throughout but unfortunately it can be quite difficult to re-join your group if you get separated because you can't go up the stairs. There is poor mobile phone reception in some areas and the lifts and stairs don't seem to be near each other so it's a good idea to all stick together if it's important for your group. Tickets are fairly expensive but worthwhile if you are able to come early, stay the whole day and take full advantage of everything there is to see and do.

Wow! What an experience. The museum is extremely well designed, arranged and maintained. The different climates are brilliant and the spaces they are contained within are very immersive; at times you even forget you’re in a building. Photos do not do justice to the areas - this is a place that must be experienced in person.

A very resourceful place. Creatively worked out to convey the messages. Kids above 8 will understand the concepts more, and will be interesting for them only. From cost point of view, the place is very economic for family visit. Backpacks not allowed during the visit. Safes are available self storage.

I've been there twice and it was amazing. A great place to visit and learn about the climate. I loved the diversity of each zones and how each room told a different story. I would definitely visit again because it's so much fun!! An interesting thing to do on a rainy day with your family.

Klimahaus Bremerhaven isn't just a museum; it's an expedition that transports you across the globe, following the 8th degree of longitude east. This immersive journey allows you to truly feel the world's diverse climates, from the humid depths of a rainforest to the biting cold of an Antarctic ice cave, and the scorching heat of a desert. You can enjoy the klima house and then the Museum Ship and during the past to now. Especially the U boat and ships.

We spent 4.5 hours but still did not cover everything. It is the best thing to do on a rainy day. My kids learned so much but also due to its interactive nature they were not once bored. We stopped for a break at the restaurant ( cafe was closed ) , this is for sure nothing to write about… we also did the extreme weather exhibition which we enjoyed for it’s educational value. I recommend it for the whole family. We drive from Hamburg especially to visit KlimaHaus
Irene N — Google review
The experience was good, but I recommend it only if you have children. I was there with my girlfriend and we had fun, but we expected more excitement. The rooms are pretty small, but full of details and information and voice instructions. A little bit expensive 18 euro for after 15:00 clock and 20 euro for anytime of the day. For children it is 10-12 euro.

I really enjoyed this visit. It was so cool to be able to bring our dog somewhere with us. We got some gorgeous photos of him here to remember our trip. The restaurant food was delicious and not too expensive. There are some really cool underwater viewing points for the seals and penguins. The seals were very entertaining and seemed to be having a lot of fun playing. The gift shop is very small and not much choice. I didn't realize there were polar bears here until I got here which I don't love. I probably wouldn't have come if I knew that, although, they will probably only exist in zoos by 2050 as I read on their display.

Nice place to visit. Animals, first you can have a look from above the animals and then from under the sea through a window ;) We need 1.5 h to go through the area. I think if you watch a little bit longer you can stay here for 3 h and more. Animals look happy In my mind this zoo has a good animal concept.

Good zoo, although a bit small, they made good use of the space. In general I am always concerned that by going to the zoo I am supporting something I disagree with. However, I do know that often these animals can not be released and have in most cases been rescued from a worse fate. I got the impression that this zoo does care about the animals and that they are treated well. The areas were clean and the animals looked healthy and clean. My children enjoyed the educational aspects of their visit and the admission cost was very reasonable.
Stuart B — Google review
Bremerhaven Zoo is a comparatively small zoo on a waterfront. It is barely a few hundred metres across, but features enough exhibits to allow you to enjoy a visit there for a few hours. The highlight has to be the polar bears. We saw three of them, and their enclosure was massive, with plenty of features and hide away areas for them to hang out in. There were also seals, sea lions, penguins, and other cute creatures. There were plenty of descriptions of all the animals, as well as the threats some of their species face to their future. There was also an aquarium with a display of various marine animals, all well lit and dazzling to look at. The enclosures for some of the animals do look a bit small, but there do seem to be areas for them that you can't easily notice. There is the mandatory gift shop, but this is always good to purchase from as this helps the zoo. There is a good cafe as well, as well as good facilities. The zoo is nicely placed in a great setting which allows for great photos. It is also great for kids due to its size, and good fun. Highly recommended.

The Valentin Submarine Pens, also known as the U-boat Bunker, is a significant historical site located between Bremen and Bremerhaven. This massive structure was intended to be a submarine factory during World War II and was one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Despite never completing a single submarine due to air raids and the allied advance in 1945, it stands as an imposing reminder of that era.
Very moving place. The story telling is good. There is still a lot of work needed to preserve this place, we gladly left a donation, but it is completely free of charge to enter. There is a good app but download it and also download the tour in the app before going inside. Definitely recommend this place as a visit.

Eerie feels grasp over while visiting the Gigantic submarine yard of WWII. 23feet deep concrete roof , 23 feet wall! jaw dropped!Beyond imagination! Horror of war ! Over 6000 forced labor died!
Munshed S — Google review
Very happy I swung by this place. It’s an incredibly impressive building, and the history of it was explored and explained quite well. It was especially striking to me to hear the differences they noted between the experience of being a forced labourer/prisoner and what the German officers thought it was like. There was a notable difference in accounts of how hard the officers thought the prisoners had it, and just how inhumane the conditions actually were. They managed to highlight these experiences by letting accounts speak for themselves in rather a nice way. I spent about one and a half hour there before I had to move on, but I wished I’d had a bit longer (I did, to be fair, spend a lot of time taking pictures, so if you haven’t brought a camera you might be fine with 1-1 1/2 hour). It’s quite difficult to grasp just how huge the bunker is, so if you’re at all interested in seeing it, I can only strongly recommend you go!
Ellen L — Google review
The interactive information area seamed to be rather out of order or not finished. Many displays were not available or partially corrupted. As far as the bunker goes it was very promising during my outside walk around. Good information and detail. Inside is was focused around a story cast upon the wall telling stories of the time. Not nearly as interesting as I was hoping for.
Joe W — Google review
So worth visiting, to learn how those who were destined to ‘Extermination through labour’ were cruelly treated. Also to appreciate the bravery of 617 Sqdn who forced the closure of the Pen days before it went into full submarine assembly. The people who run Valentin have created a thoughtful and sympathetic tribute, the film that is projected on to an internal wall highlights the triumph of humanity over the most appalling tyranny.
Nick — Google review
It's a huge structure spanning over 400m long. The reason why the submarine bunker was built is quite interesting. The forced labour leaves a chilling legacy about innocent people being taken advantage of. Today, they provide a lott of information about what really happened. If this is of interest to you, check it out. Mrhaemer adventure.

Nice area. It's not that big, but if people spend there only 30mins I can image how they visit a zoo or museum. Watch everything 30secs and then move on - in no real interest. For all else, there's lots of information about the animals, the environment and their habitats. We spend more than 2 hours there, even though we visited the prehistoric part very fast.

Great place to family visit. The best is the shipping at the end or beginning your excursion.
Normunds Z — Google review
Aquarium is quite small but nice. In the beginning it was more like a museum than aquarium, but later on it got better. It is definitely too expansive for what it has to offer. Hence the three stars. There was only one ray and one sea turtle. The bird section is quite nice, kids really enjoyed it. 2 adults with 2 kids costs 50€, that’s in our opinion too much for what it has to offer.

This aquarium is absolutely brilliant. Visited with my husband, sister, brother in law and nephew on a visit from Australia and it was a real highlight! Positioned next to the North Sea with a cafe attached that has a panaromic view while you eat, this is a must visit! Staff lovely and the gift shop was wonderful.

For what seems like a small building they do really pack a lot in for you to see! There are lots of things to look at including a whole room with fossils and creatures that haven't evolved much (like horseshoe crabs). The seal tank was a favorite as you can see the seals swim against the glass and then go to the top of the aquarium and see them from the top playing in the water. Our whole family enjoyed it and already our children are asking when we can go again.

German Naval Museum in Wilhelmshaven is a great place to visit to understand and gather information about the German naval history, possibly the best way to vividly experience everyday life at sea in a naval vessel. The exhibits are well maintained, and it takes about 2-3 hrs to view all the naval vessels and other exhibits (indoor and outdoor). The war ships including the missile destroyer Mölders and the submarine U-10 are particularly impressive. My understanding is that regular maintenance is conducted by former crew members. You can also watch video documentation of them describing their experiences and impressions on board.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful and large inland body of water that is ideal for a walk. I recommend parking in the north, looking at the historical settlement and then taking a lap around the sea. In this case, halfway along the south bank you have the opportunity to take a break at the beautiful cafés and restaurants. A fascinating collection of buildings and artifacts retelling the story of the agriculture in this area of Germany. The far end of the car park has motorhome/van parking for free for 24 hours, has no facilities but feels very secure. An excellent bakery just around the corner. There is also an lovely traditional restaurant on site.
Lucie C — Google review
One of the best open-air museums I have ever been to. All the buildings were in a perfect state of repair, gardens tended to, everything as you would hope for. The craftspeople produced things you actually want (the bakehouse is a particular highlight) and...well...yes, superb. And for people in their 40s, like us, the addition of the disco was absolutely brilliant!

A very interesting museum, we had a nice meal at the restaurant too.

The best museum & day out I have seen in a long time, this outdoor museum is a must-see. A collection of relocated old buildings dating back to 17th century. The buildings & the collected artifacts show how the country & agricultural people lived in Saxony: farmsteads, windmills (3), forge, cartwright, school. So much to see & so well laid out. We spent over 4 hours here & could have spent more, all for €9.50 each. Ideal for families, includes old farm tractors & machines, displays, big children's playground, bakery, pottery etc. Free parking & motorhomes can stay overnight.
Gill C — Google review
An enchanted middle-aged village, which if visited at the right time; you will find traders of many old crafts spread throughout the village. One takes in all the flair and wonderful atmosphere. There is something there for all the family. I was there for an afternoon but I don't think that I managed to see everything - but that gives me a reason to return.

MEYER WERFT GmbH & Co. KG, located in Papenburg, Germany, is a renowned shipbuilding company that has been constructing massive cruise liners for centuries. The facility offers an organized tour providing insights into the process of building and shipping these colossal vessels through narrow channels to the open sea or harbor. Visitors are taken on a journey through the company's history with informative films before being guided through various stations by knowledgeable staff members.
Drove to see the newest cruise ship from Disney. You have a great view when the ships are outside. I will come again to have a tour in the visitors centre. Recommended trip!
Edson K — Google review
Very disappointed, we thought we could see more of the ship but in reality is that you do a tour for an hour, watching a few movies, see some models indoors. even when you thought you had chance to finally see where they build the ship, but no, the reflective glass windows block everything. Pretty explode what you get.
Inès — Google review
i loved my days here in Meyer Werft. Meyer Werft is one of the biggest ship building yard in the world. The facility has one of the best in the world. They built ships for hundreds of years already. Official ship maker of NCL and AIDA Cruises back in 2013 but im not sure right now. Pictures are way back 2013. Wish i could visit the place again one day.

We liked the organization of the tour. You are picked up in the city by the Rathaus/parking lot by a bus and taken to the shipyard. Along the way you are given a bit of the city's history. When you get there you are taken to see a few short films about the history of the company. Then the guide takes you to each station. We had a lady named Ruth and she was very knowledgeable and kind. At the end you of course land in the gift shop before you are taken back to the parking lot. We can't wait to get on a cruise ship! Ahoy!

Bourtange Fortress Museum, Stichting Vesting Bourtange

Fortress
Museums
Bourtange Fortress Museum, Stichting Vesting Bourtange is a charming lodging located within a 16th-century fort that also serves as a cultural theme park. Situated near the Dutch-German border, this historic site was originally constructed as a defense work by Willem van Oranje. Over time, it transitioned from a fortress to a farming village. Visitors can enjoy museums, live shows, and dining options within the picturesque fortified town.
Free parking and free to walk around, we happened to notice Bourtange Fortress as we were driving past. Just over the German/Dutch border, this little fortress is a great place to spend some time exploring. The little shops in the courtyard were interesting to browse in, and the restaurants, great places to eat. Would recommend spending an hour or two!

Unmissable place near the dutch/german border. The fortress is an old one its roots going back to the dutch independence war. The place itself is free to visit, only entering the historic houses will require an entrance fee. However, worthwhile to spent!

My family had a lot of fun there, my kids love the place. The staff are friendly, the houses well kept and the park is super clean. There's always someone walking around keeping the place tidy (this is true for both the park and pool). The place feels like it has infinite activities for both kids and parents, I spent days and still didn't try everything. I'm definitely gonna go back in the near future. I give it 7 stars😜 and definitely recommend a visit👌🏽

Wonderful themepark! Good accommodations! We had an amazing time spending time here eventhough it was raining a lot.. you do have to watch your kids constantly since it's old and theres no staff walking around. Which is fair :) some of the slides I got stuck in which was a little disappointing.. the food there tasted great and the beds where really nice! While hiking there was a animation team shouting through the forests which I found really disturbing since. Nice and quiet walk wasnt gonna happen anymore, didnt see any animals either and some parts of the most beautiful sights where full off thrash. I really disliked that..

The place is really beautiful and we had a great time there. It offers lots of activities, which makes it a perfect choice for families. Just a small note: the cabin we stayed in had a lot of humidity in the bedrooms. It would be great if they could sun the mattresses and blankets, as they seemed a bit damp. so better airing and cleaning would really help.

Bentheim Castle

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Dating to 1050, this hilltop castle now serves as a historical museum with a cafe & events.
A small very nice Christmas market inside the castle. Very well done with food and drinks. Our family had a really nice time (although the weather was not cooperating). The castle itself is very well maintained (you can visit inside and see the history of the castle) and on top of the hill, which gives you a nice view of the surroundings. Tip: you can park outside the castle for two hours (with the blue time card).
Alvaro L — Google review
We decided late in the day that we wanted to tour the castle. There were only 2 other people touring at the time and a school group just leaving. The castle was well worth the trip. The stairs to the battlements were a challenge in that they are crooked and uneven but the views from the top were well worth it. The dining chamber, office and bedroom were also worth seeing. The wood work and floors were fantastic. Stone carvings and stained glass windows were beautiful. Always wanted to see the spiral staircase to the alchemist and down to the prison. Well worth the trip.

I had the most beautiful time walking through this park. It's amazing that even though there are other people walking sround you are able to feel all alone. And as small as one expects it to be it's rather big and so many tiny gems to discover.. Will definitely return again.

Fraeylemaborg is outside the city of Groningen. It consists of a museum and a park behind it. If you kind of an outdoor person and love to explore a historical park, this is a place to go. Formerly the park had a renaissance style but then transformed into English landscape garden. We can see the former design at some part of the park. Several modern elements of landscape art are installed here, making the park has a contemporary touch. Fee entrance to the park is only € 1, and €7 to the museum. If you are a kind of photohunting person, the perfect time to visit the park is during the middle of the autumn.

Absolutely amazing experience! The park is easy to explore with a map, and the animals have huge, beautiful spaces. You can get incredibly close to them — sometimes only a small lake or nothing at all separates you! The boat ride is a must, and the safari exceeded all our expectations, even with some waiting. It’s almost impossible to find such an experience in Europe in such a safe environment. The creative audio guides and the magical scenery made everything unforgettable. Wildlands ZOO in Emmen is a truly wonderful destination for families with kids and toddlers. It’s not too small, but also not too large—absolutely suitable for a two-year-old energy vampire! The park also features a roller coaster and a 6D simulator for some extra fun. There are plenty of snack stands for when you—or your little tornadoes—get hungry. It’s great that there are some opportunities to interact with or touch certain animals. Another way to get closer to the wild side is by hopping on the safari truck or taking the boat ride. The curious giraffes are especially fun when they come right up to the viewing platforms. We spent around five hours there during the “summer days” when the park stays open until 21:00. Honestly, six hours would probably be the sweet spot if you have a toddler along with you.
Stefan V — Google review
Wow This is the best zoo I have ever visited. The ethos is to enable interaction with the animals wherever possible and in many areas there are no fences which enables this. Boat and safari type truck rides enable even closer interaction and the whole layout and design of the place couldn't be better. We visited on a weekday out of season and it wasn't that busy. I would imagine that weekend or at peak season the experience wouldn't be as good due to the potential about of people so would recommend a quieter time to enjoy it most. Food and drink prices are a bit high but the overall value for money is excellent.
Paul B — Google review
We came from Utrecht by 2 hours driving, totally worth it! Good facility, new zoo from 2016, fairly modern facilities, gigantic tripical park is the highlight, feels like being in southeast Asia!
Jiansong W — Google review
I was a little bit frustrated because I couldn't understand why the price was so high for such a small park. However, it costs them money. One thing we didn't like was the huge queue you had to wait in for getting a ride, especially when I was along with three children and there was a hidden queue by the trees (I wouldn't take it if I saw it) without a stroller (because you can't take it in a queue) for the 1-year-old... we were waiting for 1 hour, and the ride was only 5-7 minutes. Katastrophe! It spoiled all good feelings. However, the park is good. You feel really in touch with nature. There are a lot of cool animals. Butterflies and hippos were our top picks. Great workers are in the butterfly area. I would only not recommend you take the boat or safari; otherwise, everything was ok. P.S. And also, there is no info on the website that there is only central parking, so make sure that you park your car on Qpark, or you will have to take turns and wait longer.

We visited during the summer holidays on a very warm Saturday and had a great few hours. The park is insanely good value, €17.50 per person and food and drink is included - all the food we had was tasty too and you can just help yourself to ice lollies and drinks with minimal queues. There is plenty of attractions here for all ages - 2 of the Thrill Rides are unique to this park too and are great - These are ParaJump & XLR8. If your in the area this place is a must visit.

No so big museum. The Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede, the Netherlands, was founded by textile industry Baron Jan Bernard Van Heek. Drents-Friese Wold National Park is a vast area of 6,000 hectares offering diverse recreational activities such as walking, cycling, and bird watching. The park features beautiful small paths that traverse the forest and heath/peat areas. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque landscapes with sandy soils and forests, and there's even a lookout tower providing stunning views of the park.
great nature reserve for all kinds of outdoor recreation like hiking, bird watching, mountain biking (need vignette), cycling, you name it. Many many cool trails to walk and plenty of wildlife to spot. Enough to entertain even the dullest of humans.

Beautiful walk in the woods. It's very easy going and serene. The information center/cafe at the start is also very nice with large windows through which you can enjoy the sunlight an the trees. There's a slight update of the path in one section. The alltrails path led us to an electrical fence. If you happen to make the same mistake just walk back to the main road and keep following it. There's a small break in the electrical fencing, where one can cross.

Super nice place to make pictures of cows and insects in the area. Very spacious place but keep in mind. These are wild animals stay the appropriate distance especially if they have young calfs.

A seriously beautiful place for hiking and just being there in nature, enjoying being alive. I am truly happy I went there.

This is quite a wild area. Plenty of parking and walking and cycling trails. Although paths are well marked and clear, it's not always obvious where to start trails.
