Gilindire Cave

National reserve
Nature & Parks
Caverns & Caves
Subterranean cavern with stalagmites, stalactites & a reflective lake, accessed by boat or on foot.
It's one of the best caves in turkey. Massive, mystical and full of wonders. It starts from the top of the cliff and goes down till the sea. There is a huge fresh water lake inside the cave floating between the sea and the top of the mountain
AHNAF R — Google review
Hey there! If you're ever in Turkey near Mersin, you should totally check out Gilindire Cave, also called "Mirrored Lake Cave." It's a pretty amazing natural place. Inside, you'll see these super cool rock formations called stalactites and stalagmites. They've been forming for ages, and with the special lighting, they look really awesome. Just a heads-up, though, it can get super humid in there, so be prepared for that! But the best part is definitely the clear lake at the very back. It's so still that it perfectly reflects everything, making it look like a mirror. Seriously, it's a great spot for photos! Getting around inside is pretty easy thanks to the stairs and walkways, which are generally good for walking. However, there are quite a few steps, so it can be a bit tiring, especially on the way back up. Scientists have even found stuff here from the Ice Age, which is pretty neat. So, if you're into nature and seeing something a bit different, Gilindire Cave is definitely worth a visit. You won't regret seeing this hidden gem!
Zerdesh R — Google review
Breathtaking views scenery both outside and inside must see. Entry fee as of today was 19TL definitely with it. I recommend once inside cave go all the way down first then slowly come back up enjoying cave views as straight up can be tiring. Great lake view at bottom.
Ayse O — Google review
Really beautiful drive and Goodview right before the entrance entrance fee 60 liras which equals $1.50 Lots and lots of stairs that trip starts going down it ends in a lake down the cave but you have to get all the way up upset stairs after finishing Really hot comparing to the average temperature outside,, especially because of the stairs Going down there and up back it takes around 45 minutes Friendly guy in the tickets place
Ahmad M — Google review
I have visited Carlsbad caverns in New Mexico and Waitomo caves in New Zealand. The Gilindire caves in my opinion are much more enjoyable caves to visit. Inside the caves is a very well designed walkway and stairs the entire length/depth. The cave descends probably down to sea level and terminates at a platform overlooking a large crystal clear pool. You can hear bats 🦇 in the cave but I couldn’t spot them. In spring of 2025 the cost to see the cave was 60TL or $2 USD. Staff are exceptionally friendly and welcoming! If it’s the middle of summer it would be a nice thing to do to escape the heat. I’ll definitely come back and visit.
Joshua R — Google review
Very impressive, not cold inside, water surface lays by -47meters to sea level, 560 steps down, amazing lights inside, really cheap entrance
Mikhail V — Google review
Worth to see. More than 70 m depth. Very high humidity. And a lake at the bottom. Nor for everyone.
Mustafa A — Google review
Also known as Aynalıgöl Cave, Gilindire Cave is located 7.5 km southeast of Aydıncık district, between Sancak Burnu and Kurtini Creek. The cave, whose entrance faces the sea, can be reached from the sea and land. The Gilindire Cave, which is 351 meters long in total, is a horizontally developed cave. The inside of the Gilindire Cave, which is right on the edge of one of the beautiful bays of the Mediterranean, is covered with all kinds of dripstone formations. These stalactites, which have reached enormous sizes and are extremely beautiful in appearance, have divided the main gallery into many halls and rooms. In addition, the large lake at the end of the cave and the stalactites, stalagmites, columns, walls, curtain dripstones and cave needles that form islands on the edge of this lake have turned the cave into a fascinating environment.

Church of Saint Nicholas of the Roof

Greek Orthodox church
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Mountain church dating to the 11th century, with striking religious art adorning its walls & roof.
Agios Nikolaos Tis Stegis Kakopetria, Nicosia District, Cyprus The church of "San Nicholas of the Roof" (also known in English as St. Nicholas of the Roof), is located at a short distance from the inhabited center of Kakopetria, in the Solea valley at about 700 meters elevation. The structure is included in the UNESCO site "Painted Churches in.
Mazhar A — Google review
This is one of only ten churches which is called the painted churches. They are enlisted on the UNESCO world heritage list due to the interior paintings. The current paintings are restored and repainted many times, but researchers believe they have found the original ones, and therefore these churches are significant carriers of history. The entrance is hard to see as it suddenly appears around a bend, use - and trust - your GPS 😜! Entrance to the church is free, but they do accept donations and there is a souvernir shop at the premises. Unless very religious I think 10-15 minutes are adequate here.
Trond S — Google review
A very cute, small and old church that had remained in its original state and does not look like a church. Free entry and carparking with a souvenir shop. Their is a roof put over the original for protection. It is rather lovely inside with original plasterwork art, but signs say you are not allowed to take photos. It does need some renovation work, but I think its best left and preserved as it is inside. Their is a nice dome and a few wooden pieces of furniture. An information board and plan is on the outside wall. Pretty views down the valley from the lawn, where you can hear water flowing, but not see any.
Sheila B — Google review
Very nice paintings dating back to the 12th and 13th centuries.
Mirceawyz — Google review
The Church of Saint Nicholas of the Roof (Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis) is one of the most famous and best-preserved Byzantine churches in Cyprus, located near the village of Kakopetria in the Troodos Mountains. Built in the 11th century, it once formed part of a monastery and is celebrated for its well-preserved frescoes that span several centuries of Cypriot religious art. The church owes its name to its distinctive steep wooden roof, added later to protect the original structure and its priceless wall paintings from the mountain weather. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and various saints, representing artistic styles from the 11th to the 17th centuries. Surrounded by pine forests and mountain air, the church exudes a peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage–listed Painted Churches of the Troodos Region, it stands as a masterpiece of Byzantine art and devotion, offering visitors a rare glimpse into Cyprus’s medieval past.
Marek G — Google review
This jewel from the 11th century belongs to the world heritage of the UNESCO. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Wounderful pictures are painted on the walls. There is a little shop located in front of the church, selling souveniers, incence and religious articles. Admission is free.
Manuel G — Google review
Ancient church with incredible frescos. Definitely worth a visit.
Andreas E — Google review
Interesting tiny church with very old murals and icons. This place is on the UNESCO list. Unfortunately there are no toilets. Entrance is free. There is a small shop with souvenirs in front of teh church.

The fabulous Marina Breeze at Limassol Marina was a meal to remember. Situated alongside the marina you can arrive by boat and moor up alongside or arrive in the normal manner on foot. This was the best meal of our holiday. Great service, classic and modern cocktails, and superb food together with an affordable wine list including local wines. They even give you bread to feed the fish in the harbour. A lovely unforgettable evening.

Limassol Castle, located in the heart of Limassol's old town, is a medieval fortress with a rich history dating back to the crusades. The castle was rebuilt around 1590 and served as a prison until 1950. It stands as a dominant presence in the old town and offers tours for visitors interested in its historical significance. Lemesos Castle – Cyprus Medieval Museum 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Lemesos Castle is a fascinating historical site and home to the Cyprus Medieval Museum – a must-visit for anyone interested in history, architecture, or Cypriot culture. 🏰📜 The castle itself is beautifully preserved, with thick stone walls, arched halls, and a peaceful courtyard that takes you straight back in time. Inside, the museum offers a rich collection of **medieval artifacts**, including armor, coins, pottery, and religious icons – all carefully curated and displayed. ⚔️🛡️🕯️ The views from the rooftop are also worth the visit, giving you a great perspective over Limassol Old Town and the sea. 🌊🏙️ 📍Location: Centrally located in Limassol Old Town, surrounded by cafes and shops. 💵 Entry Fee: Low and totally worth it for the experience. Highly recommended for both tourists and locals – Lemesos Castle is a window into Cyprus’ medieval past and a lovely stop during your Limassol visit! 🌟🏰📚
Tom D — Google review
Small but interesting place, where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria and crowned her Queen of England in 1191 apparently (the only British royal wedding taking place abroad so far). The entrance fee is 4,5 euros I believe and it’s worth it. Not really for the views after climbing to the top, but mainly for the little exposition they have going on. Not wheelchair accessible. Highly recommended, you’ll spend maybe 20 minutes here.
André M — Google review
A bit less than what I would expect considering the history behind the place, the ticket cost 4.5€. You can walk around it and inside in 3/4 different levels with a bunch of stuff showing from different époques. Would recommend to go early in the day and be careful with hours, should be open from 9 to 17 but I found it close at 16:30 once. It takes 20/30 min. No wheelchair accessible.
Ilaria T — Google review
Limassol Medieval Castle was built in the 13th century on the site of an earlier Byzantine castle. It is the town's most popular attraction because according to fame the castle stands on the site where Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre and crowned her Queen of England in 1191. Cells in the basement were used as prison until 1950. I’ve enjoyed the visit.
Montserrat H — Google review
Fascinating place,we visited on a Sunday when Limassol was quiet and we went to pay but where told it was free of charge that day. Spent around an hour looking at all artefacts found close by from excavation or replicas that depict things from the time. Really fascinating to see everything from weapons to coins to plates. Well worth a look if you're in Limassol old town.
Anthony S — Google review
The Castle and Church has an amazing history and a brilliant museum. All the artifacts are beautifully displayed. The Castle is in the old port of Limassol and is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding old town has lots of beautiful architecture with lovely restaurants.
Andrew S — Google review
Lemesos is a beautifully preserved castle in the heart of Old Town. The interior is a fascinating museum with interesting relics, which are well described in both English and Greek. The cost of entry is cheap and it took us about 30 minutes or so to tour the whole site.
Stephen M — Google review
Tickets are cheap $4.50, its in a cool area of town. Worth a stop by even for 30 mins, the castle is out of the heat and is interesting historically. I would not recommend making a day out of it, but the area is great, price cheap, and history interesting.

Machairas Monastery, established in the 12th century, is located in a remote mountainous area and boasts picturesque panoramic views. The journey to reach this destination is breathtaking, with beautiful hills and interesting points of interest along the way. Visitors are encouraged not to miss this rare opportunity, as it offers an unforgettable experience during winter with light snow on the slopes. This peaceful location features a main room adorned with paintings and ornaments that are highly enjoyable to visit.
One of the most beautiful monasteries in Cyprus. The Monastery sits high in the hills of Cyprus (around an hour from Larnaca). Its white walls and red roofs stand out against the green hillsides, creating a peaceful and inviting atmosphere. As you approach, you pass through a simple stone archway into a quiet courtyard, where flowers and olive trees add to the sense of calm. The cobblestone path leads you to the main church, where the famous icon of the Virgin Mary is kept. This icon, believed to have been painted by St. Luke, is beautifully decorated with silver and gold, and it draws visitors from around the world who come to pray and find peace. This monastery with its 1000 years of history, is a place of quiet reflection, offering a glimpse into Cyprus's rich spiritual heritage.
RJS — Google review
A very beautiful place in the heart of the mountains, the road there is quite curvy, but it's a fun ride.
C. J — Google review
Beautiful and well maintained place with kind and helpful monks and staff. Herbs and flowers are very high quality and beautiful, not to mention that the on-site shop offers a huge variety of products, produced by monks. Oils, teas and tinctures are high quality. The church is beautifully maintained and open to the public without any fee, this is rare in Europe. Unfortunately pictures are not allowed inside the monastery but that is the magic of the place. Mountain roads are well maintained and but dangerous regardless.
Balázs B — Google review
I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Machairas Monastery is not just an old church in the mountains — it’s a place where something shifts inside you. As soon as I walked in, I felt like time stopped. Suddenly, I started crying — without any clear reason. No words, just silent tears. It was a deep, pure emotion I couldn’t explain. There’s a powerful stillness here. Real monks, ancient icons, and the sense that you’re touching something sacred. The small shop offers oils, herbs, candles, icons, and prayers — many of them with healing or spiritual qualities. This place stays with you. You just want to be quiet, listen, and be grateful.
Oksana O — Google review
The Monastery is a piece of heaven. The place is very calm and quiet. I did not stay too much as this is a place to pray and I did not want to disturb the monks. This is the place to stay a couple of days if possible to rebuild the connection with God.
Bogdan V — Google review
A beautiful Orthodox monastery nestled in the mountains. Men in shorts are given a robe to cover up. Only the church (a glorious sanctuary full of reverence and splendour) and the gift shop are accessible. No photos allowed in the church area. The shop sells icons, literature, honey, jewellery, Greek literature and more.
Steve G — Google review
The Holy Monastery of Panagia Machaira is one of Cyprus’s most significant and picturesque monastic sites, nestled in the lush Troodos Mountains near the village of Lazanias. Founded in the 12th century during the Byzantine period, the monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia) and takes its name from the miraculous discovery of her icon, said to have been revealed to two hermits by divine guidance and freed from a cave by a “machaira” (knife) — hence the name Machaira. What distinguishes this monastery is its sacred icon of the Virgin Mary Machairiotissa, attributed to Saint Luke the Evangelist, which has been venerated for centuries as a source of blessings and protection. The monastery has long served as a spiritual refuge and cultural stronghold, playing an important role in the island’s religious and national history. Architecturally, Panagia Machaira blends Byzantine and monastic simplicity, featuring stone walls, wooden balconies, and a peaceful courtyard surrounded by forested slopes. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful frescoes, gilded iconostasis, and monastic treasures, all reflecting the deep devotion and artistic craftsmanship of Cyprus’s Orthodox tradition. Today, the Holy Monastery of Panagia Machaira remains an active religious center, home to a small community of monks who preserve its centuries-old traditions. Its serene setting, rich heritage, and enduring spirituality make it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the sacred heart of Cyprus.
Marek G — Google review
It’s a beautiful Orthodox monastery tucked away in the mountains. If you’re a guy wearing shorts, they’ll give you a robe to cover up. You can only go into the church — which is stunning and full of reverence — and the gift shop. No photos are allowed inside the church. The shop has icons, books, honey, jewelry, Greek literature, and a bunch of other interesting things.

Molos Park is one of the nicest places to visit in Limassol. It’s a long and beautiful seaside walkway where you can enjoy a walk, ride a bike, or just relax by the sea. The park has wide paths, green trees, fountains, and benches. There are also fun playgrounds for children and outdoor gym areas for people who like to exercise. You can also see many modern sculptures along the path, which makes the walk even more interesting. There are also wooden piers that go out into the water, perfect for sitting to relax, or taking photos. Many people come here in the morning for jogging or in the evening to enjoy the sunset. The food is super tasty, the service is quick and friendly, and it's very cheap. If you're looking for an authentic and delicious meal, this is the spot. Highly recommend!

Ledra street checkpoint.

Customs office
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Ledra Street border crossing, located in Nicosia, is a significant checkpoint between the Greek and Turkish parts of the city. Since the demolition of the wall in 2008, UN peacekeeping soldiers now patrol this area. Visitors can walk into the northern part of the city by presenting their passports to immigration officials. The atmosphere here carries a sense of melancholy due to its historical significance. Once across, tourists will find an array of shops offering various brands at affordable prices.
During my trip to Cyprus, the highlight was visiting Nicosia, the world's last divided capital. Walking around the city, you can sense the deep history and the effects of the 1974 conflict between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, which resulted in the creation of the UN buffer zone called the Green Line. As you follow the Green Line, you’ll see guard posts, bunkers, barriers, barbed wire, and soldiers, all clear signs of the division. However, you’ll also come across beautiful churches, historic buildings, and the Archbishop’s Palace, which add cultural depth to the experience. Crossing the Green Line, you’ll notice a shift in culture. Ledra Street, a lively shopping area, provides a cheerful contrast to the more serious atmosphere along the Green Line. You can easily spend half a day wandering through the old city, enjoying the mix of history and modern life. If you’re up for it, you can cross the Green Line at one of the approved points to explore the northern part of the city via Ledra Street.

Very interesting crossing point from the Greek part to the Turkish part of Nicosia.Friendly officers that check your passport on both the Greek and Turkish zones of Cyprus. It is known as the only divided capital in the world as shown above Greek Cypriot Police Checkpoint on the sign above.Very different on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus. Many different shops selling lot's of different brands at very cheap prices.Fascinating and intriguing being on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus.Only there very briefly for around 30 mins due to tight connection with Intercity bus from Nicosia to Limassol although I very much enjoyed the experience very much.
Suhail K — Google review
Now this is a good experience. For those of you that are interested. Travelled from the Turkish side (trnc) much more to see on this side than the south. You can more or less travel the green line. Passports have to be shown now to cross both ways. Not as good as 10 years ago as things on the northern side weren’t done up (cafes etc). History lovers will love it
John S — Google review
Very easy to get either way once through into north there are lots of shops and eating places much cheaper than the greek side coffees for 1 euro. No photos of actual crossing point as its illegal. They accept all currencies so no need to change money
David B — Google review
Its the second time I have been there and nothing reminds me the first time that i was excited many stores ,people all around ,coffee shops, Everything is different many stores have been closed ,coffee shops where closed , not much people ...dont know ...

I cannot recommend visiting the occupied North. We did not feel safe there and we were very relieved when we returned.

Delicious food, nice friendly atmosphere, the live music was a pleasant addition to the scene, the menu board was comical but quite practical too. Great place!!

At this point you has to show your passport to go to the turkesh side and after doing your visit you should do the same for the Cyprus side,No stamps or anything just scanning the passport.

Büyük Han

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Located in North Nicosia, Cyprus, Büyük Han is a prime example of medieval Ottoman craftsmanship and architecture. Built in the early 1570s at the request of the island's first Ottoman governor, it has undergone recent renovations and now hosts traditional shops and handicraft workshops. Originally a caravanserai for weary travelers along the Silk Road, Büyük Han is now a celebrated landmark and arts and crafts market with a central café.
Büyük Han is an absolutely charming and truly remarkable place to visit. Stepping inside feels like travelling back in time, as it beautifully showcases the old Cypriot culture and traditional architecture. The historic stone courtyard, lined with little shops and artisan workshops, creates a warm and authentic atmosphere that is hard to find elsewhere. It’s a wonderful spot to wander around, soak up the history, and enjoy a coffee or traditional sweets while surrounded by centuries-old arches and stone walls. Every corner tells a story, and you can really feel the heritage of the island here. Whether you’re interested in history, local crafts, or simply want to experience the unique charm of old Cyprus, Büyük Han is an absolute must-visit.

Wow - this is an amazing place to visit. Entering the building feels like travelling back in time - with the old Cypriot culture and traditional architecture. The stone courtyard, lined with little shops and artisan workshops, is terrific. It’s a good spot to enjoy a coffee or traditional sweet, while surrounded by centuries-old arches and stone walls. Büyük Han is a must-visit.
Norm P — Google review
Built in 1572 by the Ottomans, supposedly to celebrate the successful taking over of the islands from the Venetians, the Buyuk Han (the Great Inn in Turkish) is now a large bazaar on the Turkish Cypriot side of Nicosia / Lefkosia, with a small mosque in its centre. It has that singular oriental vibe imbued within it, so visiting it is a truly specific experience highly recommended to anyone visiting the northern part of the divided city. Some very interesting items are on display that can be bought here for very affordable prices. Although, if you're supposed to cross the border over back to the southern side, I'm not sure whether there would be any issues with the border patrol. Still, a site very much worth visiting.
Nikola R — Google review
Büyük Han is one of the most impressive historical landmarks in the heart of Nicosia. Built in 1572 during the Ottoman period, it is beautifully preserved and offers a real sense of history. The courtyard is wide and atmospheric, surrounded by stone arches and traditional architecture. Inside, there are small artisan shops, souvenir stores, and cozy cafés. Sitting in the courtyard with a coffee is a very relaxing experience. The entrance is free, and the location is very central, just a short walk from Ledra Street and the main attractions of the old town. It can get busy on weekends, so coming earlier in the day is a good idea. Overall, it’s both a cultural and relaxing spot — definitely a must-visit for anyone coming to North Cyprus.
Aren S — Google review
An unexpected surprise! The han is superbly renovated with small artisanal shops all over. We loved its vibe and the fact that you can get a coffee inside as well (even though those umbrellas look awful)
Bogdan H — Google review
Absolutely a must see on this side of the capital. It's a calm oasis, with lots of small shops and a cafe in the middle to drink some turkish coffee/tea. Good prices and kind staff too

Great traditional coaching inn now housing small arts and crafts units and a decent size bar/restaurant. You need €1 to use the loos. We have bought several quaint items here over the years.

Selimiye Camii

Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
Selimiye Camii, located in North Nicosia, is a captivating blend of Gothic architecture and Islamic design. Originally a Catholic cathedral dating back to the 13th century, it was converted into a mosque in 1570. This airy mosque with white interior walls is an iconic symbol of Cyprus's cultural duality.
Beautifully Restored Mosque Worth Visiting After a long period of restoration, the mosque is finally open to visitors again — and it’s definitely worth a stop. The building has been beautifully restored, and it’s great to see it brought back to life in the heart of the city. What’s especially nice is that the mosque is open to all visitors, regardless of dress. If you’re not wearing the proper outfit, they provide appropriate clothing at the entrance so you can still go inside and enjoy the space respectfully. The interior is peaceful and elegant, and it offers a glimpse into the cultural and historical heritage of the area. Its central location also makes it very easy to include in a city walk or day out. A lovely place to visit, whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply exploring meaningful landmarks.

The Selimiye Mosque in Nicosia is an absolutely stunning piece of architecture. Regardless of one’s faith or beliefs, it’s impossible not to be impressed by the sheer beauty and historical significance of this building. Originally a Gothic cathedral, it has been transformed into a mosque while still preserving its breathtaking medieval character. The towering spires, intricate stonework, and vast interior create an awe-inspiring atmosphere that feels both peaceful and majestic. A visit here truly feels like stepping back in time, offering a unique glimpse into the rich cultural and architectural heritage of Cyprus. An absolute must-see for anyone visiting Nicosia.

Selimiye Mosque: A breathtaking fusion of Gothic architecture and Islamic heritage Located right in the center of Nicosia, Selimiye Mosque is not just a place of worship, but a masterpiece that leaves visitors in awe. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted by towering columns, elegant pointed arches and light gently filtering through stained glass. It’s a truly majestic space. Originally built in the 13th century as St. Sophia Cathedral, the building is the finest example of French Gothic architecture on the island. After the Ottoman conquest in 1571, it was converted into a mosque and given its current name. The Islamic elements added inside blend harmoniously with the cathedral’s original design. What stands out: The height and size of the interior is absolutely stunning Soft lighting and quiet atmosphere create a peaceful space The stained glass windows give the hall a unique glow From the outside, it still retains its cathedral character Visitor tips: Respect the quiet, it’s still an active mosque Aim your camera upward for the best interior shots Entry is free, and there’s a small information panel at the door Perfect for anyone interested in architecture, history or both

Selimiye Mosque is a former Christian cathedral- Cathedral of Saint Sophia - converted into a mosque. It' s interesting how this is, at the same time, he main mosque on the island of Cyprus - it can hold 2500 worhipers but also the largest and oldest surviving Gothic church on the island. But to be honest, it is really beautiful!
Bogdan B — Google review
Nicosia, Cyprus Some medieval and Ottoman testimonies from the Turkish-Cypriot side of the city. Pictures of the Selimiye Cami (former Saint Sophia Cathedral, the most beautiful building in the city) are missing because it was closed and completely caged for restoration in April 2023.

Super nice & renovated mosque. While I doubt the rest of the area looks as good, this ex-catholic church is worth a look especially since it's so close to the "border"
Bogdan H — Google review
The Selimiye Mosque, located in the heart of Nicosia’s old city, is one of the most impressive and historically significant monuments in Cyprus. Originally built as the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in the 13th century by the Lusignan kings, it was the largest and most magnificent Gothic church on the island. Following the Ottoman conquest in 1570, it was converted into a mosque and renamed Selimiye Mosque, which it remains today. The building’s stunning Gothic architecture — with its towering pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and soaring windows — reflects the grandeur of a medieval cathedral, while the Ottoman minarets added later give it a unique and harmonious East–West character. Inside, the vast prayer hall retains much of its original Gothic structure, now adorned with Islamic calligraphy and simple elegance befitting a place of worship. The Selimiye Mosque is not only a masterpiece of architecture but also a symbol of Cyprus’s complex cultural history, where different civilizations, faiths, and artistic traditions have left their mark. A visit here offers a fascinating glimpse into the island’s medieval and Ottoman past, making it a must-see landmark in Nicosia.

Neolithic Settlement of Choirokoitia

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Neolithic Settlement of Choirokoitia is a remarkable UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site that offers a glimpse into the Neolithic period in Cyprus. The well-preserved settlement features reconstructed huts and provides historical insights into the ancient culture of the area. Visitors can explore five reconstructed dwellings, gaining an understanding of how people lived during that time. The site is well-maintained and informative, with boards providing details about construction methods and daily life in the village.
Interesting antiquity UNESCO site. Although the park is accessible, there are many uphill (concrete) paths. Many of the interesting parts of the park entail steep paths so for those in good shape who enjoy hiking.
JULIE C — Google review
Great site with well thought out displays of the Neolithic settlement. It's amazing and mind boggling just thinking that people were living here 9000 years ago

Incredible to see what we may have read about. Considering how old the round are, amazing there are some remains visible today. The reconstruction shows what may have existed which is a great visual. You might spend around an hour here max. €2.50 entry. Free parking. Just be mindful google maps will try to take you further up the hill. When you see the coffee shop/carpark this is the entry.

Nice place and low entry price. Spent 1 hour here. Could be better if there was a 3D model showing village as it would have looked like originally. Not allowed into village ruins just around the edge along path. WC is available so good for a tiolet stop. Nice reception staff.

I really like this place. There are lots of cafe's and lots of shops. I went to the amusement park at marina twice, it was fun but I do wish for it to have more Rollercoasters and rides. There's not much when you go there and the roller coaster train isn't even that fast or scary. But I really like It there. 👍

Went in April, no Flamingo. Learned from the local that they only come to salt lake between Nov and Mar. If you go in other months, the lake view is still enjoyable, just no need to feel disappointed or not seeing any bird.

Beautiful lake, flamingos can be seen only in the cold season. Visited in November and the water looked like a mirror, with lots of flamingos. Definitely worth visiting. Do not walk off the path, it'll startle the birds. There are 2 observation decks at the lake. You can get there with public transport.

Драганић С — Google review
Larnaca Salt Lake fills with water during the winter and dries up in the summer to reveal a salt crust. This natural cycle attracts large flocks of migratory birds. Thousands of flamingos arrive from November to feed on the shrimp that thrive in the salt water.
Vivienne T — Google review
Pink flamingos 🦩 visit the lake in winter. When I visited in mid November there were 2 big groups. Should bring a good camera to get a good picture. However you can walk around and enjoy the views. Various parking around the lake.

The Holy Church of Saint Lazarus is a restored 9th-century Byzantine stone church located in the center of Larnaca. It houses a remarkable gold-plated iconostasis and is dedicated to Lazarus of Bethany, who, according to legend, lived in Larnaca for 30 years and was its first bishop after being resurrected by Jesus.
Many have already written the historical,  religious and architectural significances of this small but magnificent church. I stayed longer than I expected because I invited myself to a beautiful wedding. During the wedding service, the church still let people in for the visit to the tomb of Saint Lazarus. I suppose it always happens. If a wedding happens to take place during your visit, don't leave. It's such a sweet experience.
Joyce . — Google review
From an architectural standpoint it’s a very pretty building and the interior is spectacular. I didn’t take any photos as I didn’t know if it was appropriate or not as it is an active church. But the paintings and reliefs inside are quite unique. And the building itself has a great history that’s interesting to learn about as someone who’s not tied to the Christian faith. The surrounding neighborhood is very quaint and has many good shops and restaurants/cafes.
Sam F — Google review
This is amazing Church is a must visit if you are in the area. Beautiful structural architecture on the outside and inside to the amazing things you will see when you enter. If you can try and be covered up because there is a sign outside saying no shorts for men and women should ideally have their hair and shoulders covered but they do have robes for free on the outside to cover just in case you forget. Situated in the church are the most amazing icon pictures all over and the whole church is almost covered in gold. It is a particularly busy church with tourists in and out at all times. When you enter there is a lower two level where Lazarus bones used to be kept before they were moved, but his tomb still remains.
Toby H — Google review
Hearing about this church and seeing some of the photos doesn’t really prepare you for the experience and history you are about to feel walking up to and inside this master of a monument. The outside is stunning, well preserved and sits on a lovely open space. When you enter it is very typical of a Greek church and lovely. Make sure you visit the tombs also under the church.

Beautiful church, very peaceful! We went there around at 1400 and it was closed. Advise to check the opening hours before you go. Kantara Castle

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Displaying both Byzantine & Frankish architectural styles, these castle ruins sit atop a hill.
A beautiful view from the castle is worth driving a very narrow and winding road and climbing slippery stone steps. Was there at the end of march and cyclamens were in bloom, that added a special charm to the place.
Petite P — Google review
Kantara Castle is absolutely worth a visit! It’s an amazing spot with free parking and easy access. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes for the walk up. The best time to go is at sunset , the views are simply breathtaking.
Joy S — Google review
Breathtaking. Be careful as is steep and wear comfy shoes. Bring Turkish lira in cash. The drive up is exciting. The drive back is confusing on Google maps towards the bottom where the little town is, best follow locals on the roads towards the main highway. You will enjoy.
Nikkie H — Google review
These castle ruins had a small entrance fee to walk up. Make sure you have sturdy footwear as lots of uneven surfaces and steps to climb. Their was a small parking area and toilets at the bottom. As you walked up their are lots of areas to explore and to enter. Some were quite intact and some in ruins. At the very top was lovely views over the land and coast. Well worth the visit. Plenty of places like walls and rocks to sit and rest on the way. A lot of places have no barriers

It's a bit of a drive but very worth it for the views. There are stray cats so bring some food like cooked eggs, don't chase them. They are scared. It's free to entry after hours

Very beautiful Castle with a couple of rooms. I enjoyed the sunset view there. The road is very good and comes almost directly to the castle. The territory is quite clean. The views are fantastic with the observation of 2 sees on both sides. I will come there again for sure. Buffavento give a great view, but it's hard to climb there, while canara is a great choice for all needs and all reasons! I like it very much!

The Byzantine fortress from the late 11th and early 12th centuries served as part of a defense system against Arab invaders. It is well preserved to this day. From the top there are beautiful views of the mountains and the sea. A rather winding road leads to the fortress. It is better to choose a day that is not too hot for sightseeing, although the inside of the fortress is cool even on a hot day. Almost all paths are equipped with railings, so you can walk with children. I recommend wearing sneakers or shoes comfortable for walking on stones.
Fejgele S — Google review
Nice small castle fun and quick to explore, the area was fairly clean. Entry ticket cost 50 lira per adult, this was not advertised anywhere, so I didn't bring a lot of cash in lira and euros/ card not accepted, so couldn't cover for 2adults yet they still allowed entry and paid 20 lira in the end for 2adults. Visitors are advised to come early in the morning when it's less busy as photo taking spots can be dangerous.
Hidden in the mountains near Adana, the Varda Viaduct—known as the German Bridge—is an awe-inspiring railway bridge built in the early 1900s. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and lush valleys, it’s a cinematic spot made famous by James Bond, perfect for photos and history lovers alike.

If you are near adana or mersin , give it a go.. nice place to take breakfast or simply cup of tea or coffee..there is a restaurant u can sit and enjoy the view and one of the passing train if you are lucky

I very much enjoyed the drive up and down, the views were spectacular and I've wanted to go there for most of my life, because my great grandfather worked here as a Prisoner of War in WW1.

It is definitely well off the beaten path but worth the trip. There is a nice cafe nearby for food and chai.

too far from Adana to go as a single attractive point but you may stop by a canyon nearby

An impressive historical bridge with stunning views! Varda Köprüsü, also known as the German Bridge, is a masterpiece of early 20th-century engineering. The surrounding nature is beautiful, and watching the trains pass over the high arches is unforgettable. A must-see spot for history lovers, photographers, and anyone visiting Tarsus or Adana.
Samira S — Google review
Safety warning. You need to drive carefully to this place, the road is narrow, after driving for an hour in a narrow road you will be reaching a cafe where you can rest and enjoy the view of the bridge. Only sandwiches and drinks, no kebap lol. We left the area and had our nice grilled sucuk at ( Tekir Zirve Restaurant), located on the top of the mountain where the view is also amazing.

If you haven't been to see the Stardust Variety Show, or are feeling a little undecided, GO!!! You won't be disappointed! Not only is it excellent value for money with transport from you hotel, a full dinner and dessert and ask inclusive drinks served at your table (within a matter of minutes of you ordering), the entertainment is second to none. The cast are incredible, super- talented performers and the live vocalists - especially Bailey La Creme - are worth the price on their own! Brilliantly funny right from the start, family friendly and just the best night of your holiday! There's not many shows left this season so book a ticket before it's too late! Highly recommend!

1st time at a drag show and it certainly didn't disappoint.. Had the best night ever. So so funny but very professional too. The lads have worked so hard to put on a like they do. They deserve so much credit for it. The meal they provided was excellent too. Well done guys, next time I'm back in Cyprus I will definitely be back to see you's. Keep up the good work 5*

Great evening out. Entertainment and drinks top notch, food was ok (vegetarian option just seemed to replace meat with more vegetables?) and venue was full which meant the tables were full too. Great night out and really good value overall, just the slight downer on food and it was packed so table space a little tight.

Excellent show, excellent performance, excellent dance and sing and most of all entertainment for all the family. Friendly quick service. Food was tasty and satisfying. Drinks were flowing. And the drag queens were magnificent. Noone should miss this great show.

Tarsus Waterfall, located in Mersin, Turkey, is a popular tourist spot known for its stunning natural beauty. The waterfall was formed when the Berdan Stream changed its course in the 5th century, creating an impressive cascade that attracts visitors with its enthusiastic appearance, especially in spring. Surrounded by dense forests and lush vegetation, the waterfall offers public viewing platforms and restaurant options where visitors can enjoy a bite amidst the fragrant jasmines and tranquil waters.
We visited here as part of our trip to Tarsus and really enjoyed it. Access is through a restaurant, although we did not stop to eat. Entrance is completely free as is the large car park. The waterfall is wide and beautiful, but the part we liked the most was the friendly atmosphere from the locals. There are picnic tables set up around the viewing site and they were packed with local people coming here to have a picnic breakfast, and were also singing and dancing, in fact they invited us to share their breakfast and dance with them. There is a duck pond outside with a waterfall which also connects to the main falls. We'll worth going and bring a picnic!
Rebecca P — Google review
The view of the falls is fantastic.. You definitely must see and take pictures when you're in adana or mersin it takes only 30 to 40 minutes to get there by car.

Sabanci Central Mosque, also known as Sabanci Merkez Camii, is a major landmark in Adana, Turkey. This grand mosque was opened in 1998 and is renowned for its stunning Ottoman-style interior and the world's largest mosque panels. It was built by the late industrial magnate Sakip Sabanci and is covered entirely in marble and gold leaf.
A super huge mosque. Very serene. We were the only there at 800am for dhuha prayers. Our car was the only one underneath the mosque basement. Extremely safe place to park with security guard.
Saiful G — Google review
A stunning mosque in the heart of Adana, it took 10 years from 1988-1998 to finish the construction of this serene magnificent complex. There’s a lot of greenery inside its premise which provides solace during the hot summers of this region.
Anusha R — Google review
If you are coming to the Mosque after seeing Taş köprü there is shortcut, an underground passage to the mosque but the passage stinks with urine and filth. You can make a bigger loop and pass through a traffic lights which are a bit far. But if you go through the underground passage the smell is terrible. Looks like an abandoned place. If you can bear the smell you can pass through it fast and reach the beautiful mosque that is worth visiting. I think municipal authorities should pay attention to this.

Very beautiful mosque with awesome design and beautiful decorations. Very large interior and exterior surrounding yard. There is a huge park outside the mosque that has many activities for families and children. The mosque is also right on the river and a short walk from the old city.

This was my first visit to Adana. I explored the historical area around the clock tower, however the area near to this mosque was my favorite. It’s a big complex, the mosque it’s among the biggest most I’ve visited I. Türkiye. It’s supposed to be the biggest mosque between Istanbul and Saudi Arabia. The park around this mosque was my favorite place to walk in Adana.

Bridge
Stone Bridge, also known as Taskopru or Ponte Sarus, is a historic Roman bridge in Adana that spans the Seyhan River. Dating back to around 200 A.D., this architectural marvel has been in use for centuries and was open to traffic until 2007. The bridge offers picturesque views of the river and surrounding landscape, making it a must-see attraction for visitors to Adana.
Visiting Taş Köprü in Adana was an incredible experience. The bridge, which dates back to Roman times, is a stunning example of ancient engineering and architecture. It’s truly unbelievable that after nearly 2,000 years, it is still in use today, serving both pedestrians and vehicles. The structure’s elegant stone arches over the Seyhan River create a picturesque scene, especially at sunset. Walking across the bridge, I felt a deep connection to history, imagining all the generations who have crossed it before me. The surrounding area is also charming, with scenic views and a vibrant atmosphere. A must-visit landmark in Adana!

A lovely historic bridge in the heart of the city, Adana. There are many historical places and museums around this bridge, so it is a lovely point to start visiting in the city 🥰
Nur — Google review
Adana Taş Köprü (Stone Bridge) was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century A.D. It spans the Seyhan River (known in antiquity as Sarus) and is considered one of the oldest stone bridges in the world still in use today. Originally constructed with 26 arches, 14 of them are still visible and standing today. The bridge has been used by many civilizations over time, including the Byzantines, Seljuks, and Ottomans, and it has undergone several restorations. Known for its architectural elegance and durability, the Stone Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks of Adana.
Bilgi S — Google review
Nice view, especially when walking on it. The bridge has been built for more than 1800 years.
Haval S — Google review
A beautiful, well-preserved bridge. You can stroll to the other end and back, just as people have done for many hundreds of years. A view of the huge mosque to the north makes for a nice view. There's not too much to do at the bridge, so I'd recommend next heading towards that mosque through the riverside park on the west bank there, as the nice part of town is in that direction. Though beware of aggressive beggars and peddlers at the mosque.
Kyle W — Google review
Nice view. I saw it when the river was dry. Still nice. Some traditional music players might be there. Adana Landmark!
Hasan I — Google review
The stone bridge is located in the center of Adana city. It is very crowded on holidays. Sometimes local music is played. The view of the mosque and Sihon river is very beautiful. You can take good photos. There is no entrance here, it is open to the public
Kourosh A — Google review
The bridge still stands after all these years, it’s simple but beautifully constructed, unlike those ugly bridges today. On the opposite site of the bridge, take sometime to walk the old town and the Ataturk museum.

The Church of St Pierre is a significant historical site located in Antakya, Turkey. Carved into the side of Mt. Staurin and dating back to 1100 CE, it is one of the world's first cave churches and holds great importance in Christianity. It is believed that St. Pierre held the first religious meeting here to spread Christianity, making it a center of Catholicism and a pilgrimage site for Christians. The church also houses a museum and offers stunning views of the city.
Very old and historical church. Located on the hill so you have to walk to the top. The access if very easy. Actually, the inside is just a cave. I think the attractiveness is the rich-history behind this building.
Muhammad L — Google review
Claimed to be first cave church. Interesting to visit but not worth the fee of 8 eur.
Aleksey P — Google review
If you were expecting something incredible - you will be disappointed. If you were expecting something epic - this is not about this place. This is one of the places where Christianity was born, just a cave in the rock where Peter preached, just a place, beautiful in its own way, but these are definitely not the great churches of the Middle Ages. This is a greater place, one of which Christianity began.
Сергей П — Google review
This place, although is small, should be visited for the historical value that it has. As the first church in the world, and another historical site in a city that dates back to the first civilised city-states of the world. It is better to have the museum card as it gives access to all museums and historical sites of Turkey for 1 year.
W G — Google review
The church is a small hall in the mountain. You need to know a bit of history and significance of the place to enjoy the atmosphere, have a look at the city view and tolerate the groups of religious tourists ( not to mention a rather expensive entry fee) Take your time to go around the church (opposite direction of the main entrance). You shall find an amazing number of tunnels dug in the mountains and the figure carved into the mountain. Unfortunately, the path is not marked and cleaned, but it is definitely part of the amazing history where people had to prepare escape ways to flee religious persecution.
R S — Google review
Amazing place. Worth visiting in Hatay. Tourist fee 8 euro.

The museum boasts an extensive display of Roman and Byzantine mosaics, depicting nature and human life across different periods. Its colossal size befits the historical significance of Hatay, making it a unique destination for history enthusiasts. Visitors are captivated by the conceptualized rooms and sections, setting it apart from other Turkish museums.
Hatay has been a very important location in all its history which spans thousands of years. This museum with its colossal size is just a deserving place to house this history. With its amazing mosaic and roman collections, this museum is worth spending hours. The conceptialized rooms and sections are unique in Turkish museums.

Very nice museum. It has the biggest Mosaic collection in the world. Plan to spend at least 2.5 to 3 hours. It has a nice cafe to relax inside the museum as you exit. Parking was an issue for us. Besides the amazing mosaics spend some time at th sarcofagus section.

I couldn't imagine the amount of historical and archiological findings in this area. The museum was a trip to the history of the rigion. Amazing collection pf mosaic and marble sculptures. It is a must to see for Hatay visitors. Update: more sections are opened, and more mosaic is in display.

One of the very most important museum in Turkey. It represent the life of the caveman and the life of the mythological histories.. There are lots of articles and objects belong to that lifetime and history. Make sure you hear all the history of the items. Dont miss it.. Also dont miss the "live your life" Mosaic..
Kerem T — Google review
The museum was moved last year to here. Previous place of this museum was in city centre but not big enough but new place is more bigger but far from city centre. I love the chronological path in the museum first path starts with cage life of humans and ends with modern day. Mosaics are well preserved and mosaics were like photographs. The only disadvantage of this path I couldn't find path milestones as described it was complex for me to understand how designated path goes. I started area 1 and I found myself at area 13 after 30 minutes but I think that was my fault that's why I give 5 star. When you see 480p resolution mosaics you understand why I gave star.
Mehmet A — Google review
An impressive museum with a variety of exhibits about the area's very old history. I have been to many museums in Europe and this one could easily be in one of its capitals. The finds from the Hittite period are particularly impressive, as is the quality and massiveness of the mosaics from the Roman period. Worth it!

It might be a very nice place to see but the scene yaş been blocked and turnet to a mess by the cafe's and restaurants which are very worse, untidy and the roads are very bad and dusty. I thing the whole area should be taken under the control by the Government, Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality, otherwise and at the present state, it is shame of municipality.

Amazing place, the food and Nargila is not that good there, you can have a table in the cold water, near the water falls and enjoy the nature, there is also a small market were you can buy some good gifts , the place there is full of cars especially in the weekends you give your car to someone to park it for you and then continue walking to the cafes. Most of the cafes there serve wine and raki. The prices is fair.
Wajeeh D — Google review
It was surely an amazing piece of nature but the waterfall ways were filled with mass of concrete and dozens of restaurants and vendors are now sorounding the water. Some restaurants placed their tables right into the water so you can cool yourself both drinking and having your feet in icy water. The overall concept is kinda vulgar, the trash around isnt being collected properly so you dont want to walk away from the main routes. The decoration of some places is quite absurd... combining everything... Anyway it was a nice walk and we cooled ourselves after superhot Antakya.

A visit to this architectural marvel is highly recommended for those interested in experiencing history firsthand. The Church of St John's serene courtyards provide an ideal place to explore while waiting for access to all levels of the Citadel.
An ancient city in Lebanon that is still very popular, beautiful and clean. Culturally diverse and well preserved. The castle is a stunning sight to behold as well as the old souq that sells memories of the city. But be ready to haggle prices with locals to get the best value for your money. One the best historical sites in Lebanon, definitely worth a visit. The only thing bas about it is the lack of guide/historian to explain the story behind each and every corner in the citadel.
Maurice S — Google review
Such a wonderful historical site having influences of Roman, Phoenician and Ottoman periods. It was supposedly layered in soil and lost in time until recently when the residents were evacuated and the site excavated to find this lovely history. A mere visit to this site itself is all worthwhile with the beautiful breathtaking views of the Mediterranean sea. Take a guide along to learn history, it's worth it. You could easily spend around 2hrs wandering and around. Entrance fee is LBP800,000 ($9) and includes a visit a tiny museum within

Byblos Citadel is an incredible historical site with exceptional archaeological variety. The preservation is outstanding, showcasing more than 8,000 years of continuous history from different civilizations. Walking through the ruins gives a real sense of the city’s deep past and cultural layers. A must-see for anyone interested in history or archaeology.
Oliver S — Google review
As a student of archaeology, visiting Jbeil Castle (Byblos Castle) was an extraordinary experience. This sprawling site is a treasure trove of history, beautifully situated within the ancient city of Byblos, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world. Accompanied by my professor, I was struck by the castle's architectural grandeur and the layers of history embedded in its stones. Built in the 12th century by the Crusaders, the castle's sturdy limestone and remnants of Roman, Phoenician, and Ottoman influences tell a vivid story of cultural overlap. Walking through its massive halls and ascending its towers offered breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding ruins, including ancient temples and a well-preserved amphitheater. What stood out to me most was the intricate history of the site. Byblos has been a crossroads of civilizations for millennia, and the castle serves as a tangible reminder of its strategic importance and resilience. The detailed carvings, inscriptions, and artifacts showcased on-site further enrich the experience, making it both educational and awe-inspiring. The site is vast, and exploring it requires time to truly appreciate its beauty and significance. For me, it was not just a visit but a journey into the past. The well-maintained pathways, signage, and museum nearby make it accessible to history enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. I highly recommend Jbeil Castle to anyone interested in archaeology, history, or simply beautiful places. It left me with a profound appreciation for the layers of history and the stories that ancient stones can tell.

It is disappointing to see how badly maintained the place is. There is so much wasted potential in this place if only the ministry of tourism would put a bit of effort into it. The citadel itself is pretty nice, but the area around is becoming a grassland and a graveyard for the ancient pillars which are still in good condition. With a bit of work, they have all the pieces necessary to recreate some of the original structures. They also let exposed ancient mosaics in the middle of the bushes which you would mistakenly walk on and damage. The posters are covered with bird droppings that have not been removed for a long time. The visit was still worth it, but to see how badly we take care of our heritage is saddening.

A highlight in Byblos - from the citadel one can get a good view of the city and archaeological site. In addition it is possible to wander around in the ruins and see the contours of the city there once was.

Sights & Landmarks
Nestled atop Harissa Mountain, the Our Lady of Lebanon, or Notre Dame du Liban, stands as a breathtaking testament to faith and culture. This revered Marian shrine is not only a pilgrimage site for both Christians and Muslims but also one of the oldest attractions in Jounieh. With its majestic statue of the Virgin Mary overlooking the stunning Jounieh Bay, visitors are treated to panoramic views that blend natural beauty with spiritual serenity.
Visiting Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa was one of the most peaceful and memorable experiences I had in Lebanon. Even though I’m Muslim, I felt truly welcomed and spiritually connected. I lit a candle, made a wish, and said a prayer.. and what touched me most was the strong sense of humanity this place holds. It reminds you that despite our different religions, we all share the same values of peace, love, and hope. The atmosphere was incredibly calming and full of comfort. The view from the top is amazing too. This is not just a religious site.. it’s a symbol of unity and peace. Absolutely a must visit for anyone coming to Lebanon. 🌿🕊️

When I visit Our Lady of Lebanon I feel the sanctity of the place in terms of its tranquility, cleanliness and gentle breeze. The statue of the Virgin Mary stands tall on top of the mountain with her arms open as if she is protecting Lebanon from all harm. I felt comfortable during this visit. You can reach Harissa by car or cable car. My advice to everyone who visits Lebanon is to make a visit to Harissa part of their itinerary. I highly recommend.

A must see when traveling to Harissa. This historical site contains breathtaking views of the city & sea. The area itself feels very peaceful. The staff are very knowledgeable. Just a note-if your shoulders are exposed, you will be given a cover up cloak.

The basilica itself is stunning, both architecturally and spiritually, offering a profound sense of peace the moment you arrive. The panoramic views of Jounieh Bay and surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking and make the visit unforgettable. The site is well-maintained, and the atmosphere encourages reflection and quiet contemplation. Whether you’re visiting for religious reasons or simply to take in the scenery, Our Lady of Lebanon is a must-see landmark in Lebanon.

Our visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa was a profoundly moving experience. Perched atop a hill overlooking the Bay of Jounieh, the site offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the surrounding mountains, creating an atmosphere of peace and reflection . The shrine is renowned for its tranquil environment, making it an ideal place for prayer and contemplation. Beautiful and peaceful place ⛪️ with stunning views over Jounieh Bay 🌊. The statue is impressive up close, and the whole area feels calm and spiritual 🙏. Take the téléphérique up for an even better experience 🚡. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lebanon 🇱🇧

A wonderful place for both worship and site-seeing. reach by road or take the Teleferique Cable Car. The views from here are beautiful, especially of the Jounieh Bay. You can see Paragliders all around in air, who are at your level when at this spot. The church is mainly for worshippers but all are welcome provided they adhere to the dress code, cloaks are provided to cover up before entering. You can reach the Statue of Our Lady by climbing a few more steps on the staircase from where the view is breathtaking, but beware, not for people with fear of heights. A must see in Harissa

Cedars of God Bsharri

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
Cedars of God Bsharri, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to one of the last forests of rare Lebanon cedar trees. Visitors can explore the area's rich history and natural beauty by hiking along various trails, passing waterfalls and deep gorges while enjoying breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains. The site also offers opportunities to visit the Monastery of St Anthony, the Gibran Museum, and indulge in local fruits and sweets.
I drove over two hours to get to this incredible place, and every minute was worth it. My main goal was to visit the Cedars of Lebanon — a forest steeped in the ancient history, natural beauty, and deep symbolism of this country. Although we arrived just 30 minutes before closing time, those moments turned out to be the most unforgettable part of my entire vacation. As a protected natural reserve, entry to the forest is free, but visitors are encouraged to donate — and I was more than happy to contribute generously. Supporting this natural gem felt like a small way to give back to my country’s heritage and promote its timeless beauty. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, and the entire experience felt magical. The scenery inside the forest is not just breathtaking — it’s truly mesmerizing. Towering cedar trees, including some believed to be over 6,000 years old, stand as silent witnesses to Lebanon’s ancient past. It’s a living testament to God’s creation, full of peace, power, and wonder. This place deserves far more attention and support. I strongly believe the Ministry of Tourism should promote it as a top destination. For anyone visiting Lebanon, the Cedars forest should be at the very top of your list. I left feeling inspired, humbled, and more connected than ever to the soul of my lovely country.

This is one of my favorite places in Lebanon. Every time I visit, I enjoy my time the same as the first visit. The place is peaceful. The trees are majestic. The environment is simply beautiful. The wood cravings are artistic and amazing. If you are visiting Lebanon for the first time, this place is not to be missed. Once you pay to enter, you will be awarded a postcard as a souvenir. For the people taking care of this forest, keep up the amazing work.

Must visit! Such a beautiful, calm and relaxing place to be at. Walking along the trail and surrounded by cedars trees is a lovely experience. The trees are big and old. Make sure to visit when the weather is good.

We visited in October and it doesn't matter if you go weekdays or weekends, we went on a sunday and it was almost empty. The weather is perfect this time a year! There is like a souk for souvenirs it is amazing and people are very friendly!

Ceders of god is really a visit worth! The old trees are amazing with their enormous canopy and large trunks. Be aware that the park has two entrances (with different opening hours). The secondary entrance has longer opening hours.

such a calm and beautiful place. the ancient cedar trees are incredible, and walking among them feels special. we met an old woman waiting for the sunday prayer to start in the church, and she walked with us before the service began, teaching us how to take selfies and talking about how tall the trees are. the area is well kept with clean toilets. it’s a short, easy walk!
Yujin H — Google review
A must see place in Lebanon. It is a Cedars forest where you can see the unique trees that originally exist only in Lebanon. The entrance to the forest is only by donation and it is around a half an hour walk through the aged trees. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the place is majestic and the views are stunning. There is unfortunately no road indications to guide you where to go especially if you have no internet to ask google, but to arrive there just keep going up for around 5-10 min after the "Arz" town.
Ahmad S — Google review
Beautiful hiking trail between the few remaining cedar tree forests in the country. There’s no entrance fee but you can make a donation. Unfortunately there are no park rangers around the forest to ensure that people are keeping the area clean, not littering and engraving the trees, and to make sure that they aren’t smoking!! Even with the no smoking signs there was no around to enforce the law so you could see plenty of people smoking cigars and cigarettes! You would think that after the fires we’ve had in the last few years there would be stricter policies! Hire park rangers! Take care of the last remnants of nature that we have in our country!

Chateau Ksara is a renowned winery and estate located in Zahle, Lebanon. It offers tours of Roman caves, wine tastings, and features an upscale restaurant. The winery holds historical significance as the oldest and most famous in the country. Visitors can explore the beautiful premises, including the on-site grapes and impressive late 1800s-built caves. The tour provides insights into the winery's history and the process of producing arak and wine.
Worth the drive from the north. The grounds are beautiful. The tour is well organized. We did the vintage tour and we enjoyed the variety of wines provided. I recommend Lynn. She was personable, welcoming and well educated about the history of the winery. Highly recommend the toure and Ksara wines.

The tour and tasting were very enjoyable. The guide was friendly and very informative. The history of the chateau is very impressive and dates back even to Roman times! However, the tour and tasting are very short. I think both took a total of 30 or 45 minutes. So if you come from Beirut, make sure to have other things planned as well to make the drive worth your time.

The new tour now lets you also see the factory, not just the caves, which is interesting. If you want to do wine tasting, the “niche” selection was pretty bad, but the staff is extremely friendly and speak really good English and French so foreign visitors would not miss anything of the experience.

This was my 5th visit to Château Ksara, and I must say the tour has been taken to a whole new level! In the past, we only explored the caves, but now the experience is much richer. It began with a short video (which I think could be shown on a bigger screen), then we set off in a golf cart through the beautiful grounds. We visited the observatory, the old church and monastery, admired the stunning valleys of grapes, and even stopped by the Arak factory — which could be made even more engaging. The tour continued through the plant before ending in the iconic caves. Bravo to Ksara for making each visit more exciting than the last!

Château Ksara — the oldest winery in Lebanon, right in the heart of the Bekaa Valley. 🌿 Visiting a winery has always been on my life wish list of experiences — and it was everything I dreamed of. A gorgeous tasting, a tour through the ancient cellars and vineyards, and of course… wine shopping! (Yes, that’s me, all smiles, carrying a whole box of wine and arak 😍🍷).

We visited Château Ksara today and had such a great time! The wine tasting was amazing, every glass was delicious, and our guide Mira was super friendly and welcoming. She took us on a lovely tour inside the caves and shared some really interesting stories about the winery. The place itself is beautiful and full of history. Overall, a really fun and unique experience, definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lebanon!

The Caves de Ksara in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley is the oldest winery in the Middle East. We enjoyed a remarkably detailed and accessible wine tour, thanks to our knowledgeable guide and connoisseur Cyrine. Afterwards, I opted for the vintage wine tasting paired with a carefully selected cheese platter. The on-site shop is perfect for stocking up on their wide range of wines and delicious Arak—and, unlike many spots in Lebanon, it even accepts credit cards and Apple Pay. I highly recommend visiting Caves de Ksara if you ever find yourself in Lebanon.🇱🇧

Had a great visit here with tour of the vineyard and tunnels and a wine tasting session. Learning about the history of wine production here in the region going back to the Romans, followed by Jesuit monks is intriguing. Today you can buy the wine and have shipped from here. Highly recommend. Reasonable price. Lovely staff.
