Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
The 18th-century Citadel of Alessandria, which boasts a multi-point star shape, has parklike grounds that visitors can explore. Its remarkable history is set to be revived thanks to the outstanding efforts of people in Alessandria and the EU. The fortress protected the city and its strategic location makes it an ideal place to discuss the story of Joshua and the walls of Jericho.
An incredible history that will be restored to life again thanks to incredible people in Alessandria and the EU ! I went early and was alone -It was fantastic as is the city it protected.

Great place to go around, but closed during the week. The place is rid with mosquitos though...
Athenaeum — Google review
It's a UNESCO site, unique as it's the only one in the world that is complete as a citadel built in the Late 1700 s and built for an army of 70-100 thousand soldiers. The area has been invaded so many times over history, the buildings are so intact and well constructed the scale is mesmerising, when you're there you can only imagine how once it was so busy with thousands of young soldiers through time occupying that space and training . All that is left is the silence and the sound of the birds . It's free to view and at the weekend you can view the museum with the uniforms .
Amanda E — Google review
The building itself is impressive and has a lot of potential. But the site is not developed and in quite a sad state. It's OK for a quick walk through but I would not go out of the way to explore it.
Mathias P — Google review
Nice thing to see. Very impressive structure. But as it in many cases it looks more spectacular from Google Maps than in teal life. It feels abit abandoned .. not well kept.
Viesturs K — Google review
Such a shame that this site has been left to ruin. We walked around the main square as that was as much as you had access to. Main entrance was closed so wasn't able to go inside.
Petra H — Google review
Very disappointed how neglected this place is. Not recommended!

(Translated by Google) ❤😋 The "polenta del marengo" is an exquisite dessert that as children a jewelry supplier, the unforgettable Giancarlo Lenti, always brought us. Every time he came down to the Marche he passed through Alessandria and found this delicious dessert for us! Today it arrived in the mail from Pasticceria Bonadeo who I thank for having made me relive flavors and memories of my childhood. 🙏

(Translated by Google) Pastry shop located in an elegant context. Exceptional products, such as Marengo polenta, various types of brioches, savory appetizers and Bavarian cheese, the latter tried during an event in Alessandria called Salone del Biscotto. There is a wide variety of desserts to try, the dry pastries can also be ordered online, but the pastry shop's website is not a real e-commerce site and this makes ordering a bit cumbersome, even if the care with where the products are packaged is to be underlined.

(Translated by Google) Passing through Alessandria, I entered this historic pastry shop, attracted by the sign at the entrance to the gallery, but I was perplexed for a moment by the limited choice of cakes on display (it probably works a lot on reservations); in the end, between a Sacher and a millefeuille with Chantilly cream, I chose the latter and I must say that it met my and my family's expectations. Congratulations, but I recommend modernizing the place a little.

Ristorante Il Vicoletto is a delightful gem nestled in the heart of Alessandria, just a stone's throw from Piazza della Liberta on Via Cremona. This charming eatery offers an inviting atmosphere that makes it perfect for an evening meal or a leisurely lunch. The service is not only quick but also exceptionally friendly, with staff who are attentive and always ready to assist with a smile.
It’s hard to express how much we enjoyed our lunch. The food was full of flavor, with fresh ingredients and affordable. The menu is small and the dishes were homemade and perfect. Our young boys ordered and ate two portions, which made the chef so happy that they gave us complimentary gelato… which was the best in our lives. The service was friendly and efficient. Marco is warm, welcoming and funny. And he loves dogs. It’s the right place for you and your dog.

Vegan restaurant
Deli
Nestled in a charming corner of the city, Ristorante Antica Casa Rava is a delightful vegan haven that transports you to "Grandma's Kitchen" with its vintage decor and cozy ambiance. While it may be slightly on the pricier side, the experience is undeniably memorable. The restaurant boasts an impressive array of Italian dishes reimagined for plant-based diets, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts.
really great vegan restaurant with a large selection of Italian cuisine, very tasty and atmospheric, would come back here again!🔥🔥🔥🔥☘️☘️🍀🌿🌿

🌱 A must if you are in Alessandria! They offer homemade, hearty food and yummy healthy desserts. Everything was delicious, and I really liked the atmosphere, very cozy place and lovely service. And I finally found a place in Piemonte with decent tea! 100% recommended!

Normally I like to write very elaborate reviews. This one doesn't need one. You just have to take my word if I tell you this is a dinner you would never forget. Go here, don't hold back and enjoy an outstanding experience. If you're in two, I highly recommend both taking the 4-dish tasting platter, so you get to try 8 dishes together! Every single dish is worth trying, but it was the flan with peperoni that did it for us. We even ordered it again after. It was otherworldly. The farinata-like texture of the flan, accompanied with a straganoff inspired sauce made us fly. The unique menu deserves a special mention as well: a tiny vinyl record with the restaurant manifesto on the inside. I think it could actually be played! A QR-code on the back brings you to the online menu. A restaurant I would come back for when I am in Italy again.

Incredibly delicious (regional) Italian food. Everything is vegan without compromising on the taste! The interior made me nostalgic for a period in history when I wasn’t even born yet, but it felt like I was right there. The service is also great - highly recommend this gem!
Scarlett R — Google review
TLDR: A vegan paradise in the middle of a healthy food desert that would be perfect if it was just a tad less expensive. Atmosphere: Very cute and vintage styling making it like "Grandma's Kitchen" vibes. Overall, very clean, but some of the decor and bathrooms were starting to show signs of wear/tear. Service: Kind, but seemed very busy / rushing even though we were the only guests in the restaurant. Food: Most of the dishes we had were very good vegan renditions of traditional Italian dishes. The eggplant parm is by far the star of the show with lots of flavor. The lemon Seiten is also very unique and full of flavor. While nothing was bad, there were a few dishes *like the arancino and Sicilian Tofu that were under seasoned and oily / greasy compare to the other delicious dishes.
Revan K — Google review
The food was good, but portions are small and expensive. We were very disappointed with the tiramisu - a small half empty jar for 7€, and it didn’t taste like coffee at all. We expected much more from a place that veganizes traditional italian food. The coffee was delicious though.
Nuša P — Google review
AMAZING! Wow, such a wonderful place. We both enjoyed our meals and deserts very much, the chilli is incredible, the tiramisu and cheesecake are the best we’ve ever had!!! We were served some lovely warm bread and delicious crackers for a starter that was very much appreciated. Loved the decor, plates and cup & saucers, very sweet. The two staff were so lovely, we felt very at home and definitely hope to return some day! ❤️

Ristorante La Piola is a delightful gem nestled in Alessandria, perfect for those seeking an authentic Italian dining experience. The ambiance strikes a balance between cozy and chic, enhanced by soothing jazz music that creates a relaxing atmosphere. While the portions may not be large, the quality of the food is exceptional—from the delectable fassona tartare to unique vitello tonnato and traditional Piemontese dishes like butternut squash soufflé.
Such a good find! The fassona tartare was amazing!!! As the vitello tonnato: unique! And the other typical local first course. If we will pass by Alessandria again, we will definitely stop here to eat again!

Excellent quality food, nice wines and warm and friendly staff. Except for the location which is in the middle of nowhere, everything was really good. If you are looking for a calm and quiet place to enjoy some fantastic and delicious food, this is the place to go.

We had a quick lunch in week day but enjoyed very much our meal there. The interior of the restaurant is cozy and chic while the jazz music made our stay even more relaxing and pleasant. The food is delicious. Not served in big portion but the quality is superb, even the bread and bread sticks. Last but not the least the staffs are very polite, welcoming and professional. A highly recommended place for Italian food with reasonable prices in Alessandria. We will definitely go back!

Nestled in a charming small town, this pizzeria is a hidden gem that boasts an inviting atmosphere and friendly owners who pour their heart into every dish. Nice pizzeria with their strong points being the setting as well as the big thin pizzas.
Andy B — Google review
The first time I was there it was really nice, the pizzas were amazing. It was 19:45 and the service was good. Second time the pizzas were quite burnt, the tomato sauce was not tasty (very dry) and the experience was not that good, maybe because it was 22:30. The pizzas are expensive, really really thin and the drink I found it expensive as well. Furthermore, you have to pay 2€ per coperto and person, and you didn't receive anything in exchange (most of the times at least they put bread). 2 pizzas, 2 glasses of wine (and not good), 35€. I think is way too much.
