Castello Malaspina dal Verme is a must-see attraction in Bobbio, offering a quick independent visit for a small fee. The castle provides a spectacular 360-degree view from its tower, accessible via around one hundred steps with resting spots on furnished intermediate floors.
If you like Leonardo da Vinci's art you should visit this castle. Great views of Bobbio and surrounding area from the top floor windows.

What a surprise little gem. We had no idea about the connection with Leonardo and the Mona Lisa. It was very interesting to learn about. The castle itself was very interesting and presented so many wonderful views of the surrounding area from each of the 5 floors.

(Translated by Google) Malaspina Castle - dal Verme is located in the upper part of Bobbio's historic center. The manor was built in the fourteenth century on an older fortification. The modifications that transformed the castle into a noble residence in the seventeenth century are evident. The climb to the keep is interesting, offering magnificent views of the Trebbia Valley. (Translated by Google) Bobbio Castle is small, five stories high, and doesn't host many exhibitions. However, the castle has its romantic corners, and from the fifth floor you can enjoy panoramic views in all directions. Admission is inexpensive, and the visit doesn't take long. We, however, spent quite a bit of time there watching an interactive video installation. The theme is: "Did Leonardo da Vinci paint his Mona Lisa here?" The bridge in this masterpiece is definitely the Ponte Gobbio di Bobbio. A visit is highly recommended for anyone interested in this topic. The video is available in Italian, French, German, Spanish, and English. (Translated by Google) A 14th-century castle located in the upper part of the village. Built by a member of the Malaspina family, it later passed to the Visconti family, who then granted it to the Dal Verme family. It is now state-owned and managed by the municipality. There are five floors open to visitors, the top floor of which, featuring numerous large windows replacing the previous arrow slits, offers a beautiful view of the village and its surroundings. Despite the almost total absence of furniture, the charm of this mighty fortress remains intact.

Ponte Gobbo, also known as the Hunchbacked Bridge, is a landmark bridge with a rich history dating back to Roman times. Rebuilt in the 17th century, it features an irregular up and down path and is characterized by its humpback structure supported by eleven stone arches of different height and width. This iconic bridge is a symbol of Bobbio town and is closely linked to the legend of Saint Columbanus and the Devil.
Not only have I been staying in Italy’s most beautiful village (2019). Bobbio is located in the heart of Val Trebbia, a valley described by Ernest Hemingway as "the most beautiful in the world". I discovered last night: “Historians have speculated that Bobbio was the town in which Leonardo da Vinci completed the Mona Lisa. Carla Glori in December 2011 has published her book Enigma Leonardo:decifrazioni e scoperte where the background of the portrait has been identified as the landscape of Bobbio.

Really cool historic bridge with a stunning view. We parked outside the town, just next to the bridge. There's nothing much around, but it was worth the hour drive for us.
Miak O — Google review
Beautiful place, in fact the village has been awarded as the most beautiful village in Italy couple of years back. I fully agree with that! Since we went on Xmas day, there were literally nobody around. The drive through the hill (last 10-15mins of drive) is bit difficult since the width of the road is just enough for one vehicle. But with almost no traffic, seems to be ok. I love to visit the tourist places when it is empty, and I am glad I picked the Xmas day for the visit. There is a restaurant near this bridge, but was closed. The village also was very quite. Just my kind of place!

Amazing medieval bridge below which is an area of river perfect for swimming. Lots of families, my children had a great time swimming about looking at the fish. Some shade under the arches of the bridge, recommend taking a picnic.

The Borgo Medievale di Bobbio is an incredibly beautiful and well-regarded historical landmark. Despite previous claims labeling it as the dirtiest village in Romagna, these allegations were proven false upon closer inspection. The village boasts clear and pristine water that flows from its bare rocks, adding to its charm. (Translated by Google) In the picturesque Trebbia Valley, the medieval village of Bobbio is certainly one of the most famous attractions, having been awarded the TCI Orange Flag and named "Borgo dei Borghi" (Borghi of the Villages) in 2019 in a well-known television contest. That said, the goodwill of its administrators in the care and maintenance of its architectural heritage, its cleanliness, and the excellent range of tourist services are also impressive: paid and free parking, shops, restaurants, and hospitality. Worth visiting are the Gobbo (or Devil's) Bridge, the Cathedral and its charming square, the Museum of the Abbey of San Colombano and the church of the same name, and, if you have time, the Castle, the Mazzolini Collection, and the churches (San Lorenzo, Madonna dell'Aiuto). A truly wonderful discovery in a country like ours, which always offers, often on its doorstep, wonderful glimpses of Italy's past.

Wow. Amazing food on every level. Wines to die for. Atmosphere like no other place I’ve been to in a long time. Was greeted by some cut meats with, bread and amazing olive oil. The tartar was the best I’ve ever tried - it came with truffle and finely sliced Parma cheese. The pasta was exceptional and the steaks perfectly tender and cooked. Ate way too much, but this was just soooo good. And if you’re going for the perfect experience, try the Amarone which is €50 but represents good value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As you can tell by the number of stars given, the food, atmosphere and service were all great. We were in three, with me being the only vegetarian, yet we all ate from the various vegetarian options, even though the meat dishes they prepared looked incredible and they evidently specialised in that area. Such an accommodating atmosphere is a pleasant and refreshing experience for me, as you don't get that everywhere. I was also very impressed by the presentation of the food. There was a lot of care and attention in each plate which were then carried to the table, often by the chef himself, with a pleasent smile of pride and pleasure. The staff were friendly, attentive and interested, and were also able to speak English. We shall be returning for more!

Cozy little restaurant offering fairly priced meals. Service slows down when place becomes busy, so don't expect your meal to be served in 15 min. Even though they claim to serve local cuisine, the 2nd course entrees are burger, roast beef and a tomahawk steak. I've tried the grilled chicken and it was good. Portions are generous. Good local sparkling red wine.

We payd for an antipasto, rise with mushrooms, and 1 kl of costata with a bottle of Gutturnio wine 153 euro! 92 euro of meat in a location and with a service that is not in order with the price! You could go at the same price eating in a star Michelin restaurant in Italy! We will never go back again and warning others to this kind of restaurant 🍴in our territory ! Style very old in the time, in the the trend and in the service. A pity!

If you have no reason to visit Bobbio, come here for Il Barone! I was here for a short business trip. Flying all the way from Singapore, it was my first time in Italy. The steak is perfect. Cooked spot on, it's tender, juicy and served with the best sides. The only thing that would stand out more than the food would be the service. The gentleman who runs the place is warm and makes you feel at home. The ambience is great, quaint and idyllic across the main square. Five stars!

I gave the service two reasons: I understand that it's not a restaurant, so I shouldn't expect anything special, but if I pay €45 a head, I'm not talking about a change of cutlery, but at least a change of plate, especially since I didn't eat the risotto, which in my opinion was inedible. And for the second course, macaroni alla bobbiese, which was excellent, the waiter wanted to put it on the same plate where I left the risotto... I asked for a change of plate. (Fork, spoon, and knife, the same until dessert.) Delicious cured meats. Overall, I would return, but please fix the bathrooms! (Original) Posizione incantevole, natura meravigliosa. (Translated by Google) We arrived at this wonderful restaurant somewhat by chance, without a reservation and on a Saturday, and were greeted by the owner in a warm and friendly manner. Luckily, there was a table available in the cozy, intimate rooms, each with just a few tables. The food and wine were superb, Michelin-starred (they really should get one, they deserve it), and the experience was truly special. We will definitely be back. Ci torneremo senz’altro.

(Translated by Google) I've been frequenting this excellent restaurant for at least a quarter of a century...and it's always a pleasure to return, for the hospitality and the quality of the food. The family management, which has continued for decades now, from grandparents to daughters to granddaughters, is exemplary. A short climb above Mezzano Scotti also offers a remarkable view of the Trebbia Valley. The final destination is worth every hairpin bend you take to get there. Highly recommended. Consigliatissimo.
