The Abbey of Saint-Germain d'Auxerre is a historical treasure located in the town center, boasting a mix of architectural styles from medieval to Art Deco. It was once a renowned center of learning and houses an impressive collection including the ancient Shroud of Saint Germain. The abbey features spectacular cloisters, chapter rooms, and crypts adorned with some of France's oldest wall paintings.

Beautiful visit of the Abbey! The visit is free and has a great layout with exhibits and art. There is even a very fun kids section near the Roman exhibit! Very beautifully maintained and historic abbey! They are restoring the outside but it doesn’t take away from the visit!

Abaye or Abbey a word to name a building, where nuns live in the past time. This St. Germain in Auxerre is one of the oldest in town. It serve as a museum as well. On the other side of the building seem a little lack of maintenance but still very beautiful and classic, the inner side has a small museum, there are some sculptures from famous artist, those sculptures look almost like real life. There is also, some old jewelleries, pottery and etc. Surround the building you can walk into old street with many old traditional house. Definitely is a must visit place if you visit Auxerre

A must visit while in Auxerre. Not just the beautiful abbey but the side areas and the great museum down the stairs. Lots to see and learn while here!

Visiting the Abbey was a pleasant surprised. There was much more here to see then expected especially since everything except the crypt was free. Couple different things to note: 1. Everything is in French and no other languages. Even though I couldn't read any of the signage, I still really enjoyed then entire experience. I used Google Translate to translate some of the signs to get a little info on what I was looking at. 2. The museum is quite large and they have a great number of pieces that were really interesting to see. 3. The tour of the crypt of Saint Germain was $7 Euro and completely worth it even though the entire presentation from the tour guide was in French. She did take questions from me and explained some different things in English. 4. They keep some odd hours. The day we were there they opened at 10 am, then closed at noon and reopened at 2 pm. We arrived right when they opened, did the crypt tour, but had to leave after the tour because they were closing and we came back after lunch. If you are going to do the tour of the crypt and see everything there is at the Abbey you will need at least 3 hours for everything. 5. Make sure you see everything! The Abbey is not laid out that flows in a way that you can follow one path and you will see all there is. Make sure you grab a map so that you don't miss anything as there is a lot to see!

Cathédrale Saint-Étienne d'Auxerre is an airy, sculpted Gothic building with a rich history and stunning features. It was built on the foundations of several Gallo-Roman buildings and houses the St-Germain abbey crypt adorned with some of France's oldest wall paintings. The town boasts various architectural styles, from medieval to Art Deco.
Possibly the most difficult to photograph due to its location, but you can see the cathedral from various points in the city. His figure stands out majestically. Peculiar and asymmetrical, it is among the 10 largest cathedrals in France. Its interior does not disappoint, high vaulted ceiling, magnificent rose windows and stained glass windows. Free entrance.

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful church, well worth a visit. The church of Saint-Eusèbe was built between the 12th and 16th centuries on the foundations of a monastery created in the 7th century to house the tombs of the bishops of Auxerre. It was dedicated to Saint Eusebius of Verceil, famous for having fought against the Arian heresy. From 1100 onwards, Saint-Eusèbe, the priory of the regular canons of the abbey of Saint-Laurent-de-Cosne, became a parish in this district under construction. In the 18th century, the community, reduced to a few monks, was forced to sell land. During the Revolution, the convent disappeared completely and the church was transformed into a prison until 1798. For the next three years, it was the centre of the decennial cult of Auxerre. In 1801, the Concordat restored its status as a Catholic parish and, in 1905, it became, like all the other churches, the property of the city. The nave and its aisles are a construction that is a transition between Romanesque and Gothic. In the Renaissance style, the choir and the axial chapel were rebuilt in the 16th century. Some of the windows of this campaign are still in place, in particular the one that tells the story of Joseph. The 17th-century paintings and the carving of the choir (18th century) complete the decoration. As pinturas do século XVII e a talha do coro (século XVIII) completam a decoração.

La Tour de l'Horloge, built in the 15C on the foundations of the Gallo-Roman perimeter wall. Also called the Strong tower, it contributed to the fortifications. At Léon Fish Brasserie in Auxerre, guests can expect a delightful dining experience, especially for larger groups. The attentive staff goes above and beyond, ensuring that every order is remembered accurately and served with care. Families will appreciate the special kids' room where little ones can wait comfortably for their meals. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making non-French speakers feel right at home.
We had a reservation for a very big group. The food was great and our server was wonderful. She was sweet and remembered which dish each person individually ordered. She worked very hard. No mistakes. And there is a special room for kids where they can wait for their food, which they enjoyed. Great!

We had a reservation for 8, had to wait 15 min before we got seated when the table was already ready. We were able to order within 5 minutes but had to wait over 35 minutes for simple orders of mostly fish & chips. I order a lunch menu and the salad was ridiculously small, none even a kid size, more like a baby size. Not enough sauce for the fried fish or fried calamari, no condiments on the table, only one small water bottle for 8, very small portion of rice for the coconut shrimp. The main course salad was a better portion. I find this restaurant expensive for the average quality and quantity of the food.

La P'tite Beursaude is a charming restaurant with a pastel blue facade that offers 100% Burgundian dishes. Chef Jean-Pierre Saulnier is known for his championing of regional cuisine, particularly the mouthwatering "oeufs en meurette." Despite its small size, the restaurant provides a friendly service and homemade dishes bursting with flavor. Guests can expect a casual and welcoming atmosphere, where they can enjoy fantastic food made from regional products and excellent wine.

My wife and I had lunch yesterday at La P'tite Beursaude and it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent (foie gras was great with a large portion!), la "head of veal" tete de veal was succulent, and the mi-cuit chocolate with vanilla was one of the best I've ever had. Of course the wine was 10/10! The setting was rustic, quaint, and relaxing. The atmosphere was pleasant. And on top of all this, the waiting staff were so kind, so patient, so attentive, as if were were family. We highly recommend this place! If you are in the region, it is a must-visit!

The food was good, but the owner is something else. He came over to our table to demand we pay for the extra seat we weren't occupying at a four seat table during lunch hour. We were a party of three. The customers seated near us were as shocked by his behavior as we were. After talking to one of the locals, he apparently has a reputation for being confrontational and treating his kitchen staff badly.

Great food, we really enjoyed our meal there! I don’t really understand the bad reviews!

Called at 10pm to ask if they were still serving, the girl said yes but you have to be here in the next 5 minutes. We were close so we made it, at least 10 people came after us around 10:30pm so there’s was no rush to get us there in the next 5 minutes really. Server gave us the menus and 30 seconds came back, hadn’t had time to actually read it, for the next 3 minutes he came back 10 times rushing us. Again plenty of people came way after us, if you accept us it’s not for us to eat in 10 minutes or you say no because you are closing. Very very limited choice on the menu. Got a burger with some cheese sauce since the waiter was rushing us, my friends got the 4 cheese pasta. Disgusting, the pasta was soaking in 4 different types of cheese that don’t even go together, it was so heavy that after 2 bites she couldn’t eat more. The burger was burnt and dry , no seasoning, the cheese sauce didn’t taste anything and was cold. Never going back, bad service, bad food and expensive for what it is.

Lovely family meal. The food was average but the staff and service was spot on. We went with our 3 and 5 year old. When we got to the table we were given colouring crayons and a lollipop (which we said they could have if they ate everything). Well, if there is no choice, better than nothing. Since lunch is over everywhere at 2pm, so at least you are lucky about this place. Recommended Le Quai restaurant was really really good. We are enjoying a leisurely cruise on l’Yonne in France and moored up at Auxerre. With no local knowledge of eateries we took a chance on this riverside restaurant. Long story short, we had a great evening. Staff were kind and attentive. The menu wasn’t extensive but was stacked with French fare, including escargot, beef bourguignon, and crème brûlée, which was enjoyed by one of our party. Sorry for only two photos but I admit to forgetting to take more throughout the meal. All was served without ado and at a pace that allowed us to enjoy the environment and company. Music was playing quietly in the background. It was not intrusive and added to the ambiance. We paid €220 between the five of us (which included two bottles of wine), which was happily met for an enjoyable evening.

2 of us for Lunch on Tuesday in March. We had no reservation, was seated immediately, lots of tables open. Our food was delicious; I had a yummy vegetable pizza and my friend had the eggs in Burgundy sauce. We had cremant to begin with and then took a blind chance on a 60€ bottle of 2016 Santenay from Margueritte Carillon in Burgundy...not worth more than 25€ in our opinions. Very dry and not fruity. Be warned: the table olive oil is very spicy. Staff was attentive and friendly. Nice location next to Yonne River.
