Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Granitz Hunting Castle, located in the resort town of Binz, Rugen, is a 19th-century museum with five crenellated towers and grand rooms. The castle offers a luxurious setting for hunting enthusiasts with its incredible collection of animal skulls, antlers, and stuffed stag. It also features a 144m-high viewing platform and a cast-iron spiral staircase with 154 steps.
Unfortunately, the day was foggy, and we couldn’t see anything from the tower. However, everything else was great, and of course, it’s not their fault for the weather. I’d recommend others to visit on a sunny day to get the full experience. We drove up by car, but the route is also beautiful for hiking.
Magdalena S — Google review
This was super cool. Enjoyed climbing the tower which wasn’t as tiring as I thought it would be. A lot to look at and take in. I enjoyed the hike up from the parking lot (about 2km).
Ava F — Google review
Nice Castle, well kept, very friendly and accommodating staff. Not a lot to see but what is there is set up and explained very well and entry fee is very reasonable. The highlight is the metal staircase leading to the view point above, think it’s 154 spiralling see through steps, maybe not for those with fear of heights.
Paul F — Google review
The highlight of the experience was undoubtedly the stunning spiral staircase that winds its way up the tower. The panoramic views from the top were breathtaking and made every step worth it. The peaceful surroundings and scenic walks around the grounds added to the charm of the visit. Overall, the Granitz Hunting Lodge is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Rügen Island.
Emiliano L — Google review
interesting place! if you choose to park at the hiking trail parking you get a nice short hike of 25-30 minutes through the farmhouse and deciduous forest up to the hunting lodge,
Jonas A — Google review
It takes a little hike to get the lodge, but it's really worth it. During the hike through the beautiful woods, you come across animals and a steam train. The castle is beautiful, and the inside is very well preserved. With big chandeliers, hunting trophies, and paintings of the royals who lived there. You can also get to the top of the tower by walking an iron staircase. Once you reach the top, you're welcomed by a beautiful view. The only thing I missed was information in English, so bring your German friend or Google translate.
Laurien S — Google review
I love this castle. Great interactive explanations for children. A lot of interactive features, for example the animation of the travel journal that makes you feel like you’re traveling to Egypt as well. The architecture is exquisite but sadly the hunting trophies 🏆 were stolen.
Vivian C — Google review
Great experience - wish we'd ridden bikes up instead of walking though. Beautiful views, interesting history, great collection in the museum.

Seebrücke Ostseebad Binz is a must-see attraction in the charming town of Binz. The long and sturdy pier offers stunning views of the sea and the town, making it perfect for a leisurely walk or a refreshing swim. While it can get crowded during the day, there's still plenty of space to relax and enjoy the scenery. Visitors recommend visiting in the morning or at night when the bridge lights up, creating a magical atmosphere.
Splendid! The beach and the city are wonderful, the bridge completes the landscape .
Raluca Z — Google review
We had a nice experience walking on the wooden seebrücke. The blue water, cool breez and ocean waves were just very calming and soothing. It was not very crowded.
AmazingTrails — Google review
It's just a rather narrow pier. It's not so special for people from NY or NL, but the way to the pier is pretty. The architecture in Binz is special and the boulevard offers a lovely stroll.
Andy B — Google review
Beautiful sunsets to watch . Also live DJs for everyone. A peaceful evening at this long beach.
Maria C — Google review
Wonderful bridge to enable people to get best view to the ocean and land. I made a couple of nice shots during the Sunrise, it was a windy morning, at that early moment I was quit alone and felt like blew away by wind. Tourism is always up over here, it’s getting crowded elsewhere after 11am, so be ready for it.
Angela M — Google review
Very beautiful (and long!) pier, good opportunity for bathing, if you are into that, but also very enjoyable for a walk. Might be a bit crowded during the day and summer periods, but there should be plenty of room to not get stressed out. There are not any interesting sights to get to at the end of the pier, but there is a platform at the end for rest nonetheless. Highly recommend this lovely pier for all ages groups and for families.
Alexander N — Google review
A very nice place, You can go sightseeing on weekends, see the views, eat a sandwich, I recommend it delicious, buy some souvenirs. A typical tourist spot, a beach full of people, but there was still a lot of space.
Nakrani H — Google review
Lovely sunny day visited Binz. Parking is expensive €1 for half an hour. Town centre is full of normal sea side town shops. Good selection of restaurants, but expect to bay more for a sea view with your meal. Nice clean beach.

Local history museum
Museums
Dokumentationszentrum Prora is a museum housed in a historic building, showcasing local history and heritage. One of its notable exhibitions, "Macht Urlaub" (Power Vacation), delves into the Nazis' utilization of the workers' resort Prora for their 'strength through joy' initiatives. Visitors are deeply moved by the sheer size and historical significance of Prora KdF, as well as its current state.
Hugely informative and quite fascinating. There's an original, unmodified part of the building nearby (not accessible), plenty of story boards, architectural plans and a huge model inside, and you can walk through the old East German nightclub to get a feel for the old buildings former repurposing. A fascinating piece of history.
Tarron — Google review
Impressive location. Lots of photos and historical information. Large parts of the place are untouched so it gives you a good idea of how it was back in the days.
Jaap P — Google review
It is a very interesting museum with a lot of information. I think it was mostly in German, I don’t remember reading much in English. It would have been better if there were a few more signs to guide you through and give a suggestion. I felt a bit like I was wondering through old military barracks, which was cool, but a little unnerving not knowing if I was accidentally wondering out of bounds. A bit heavy at times but really informative.
Ava F — Google review
Very interesting and educational. A great reminder of what happens when hate and dictatorship takes control of our world
Stefan O — Google review
They offer English translation at the ticket office. Highly recommended, very informative. If you want to escape the long texts, please go the film area, very well explained. The contrast to see the past and now of the building left a strong impression.
Weibersommer A — Google review
Museum from Prora, but more History from what happened since WW2 until 1990 than what specifically happened in Prora, i wanted to know the History of the buildings and not where the SS or the NVA were trained. Plan a good couple hours to visit, lots of reading.
Mantas P — Google review
See the film first then take a walk around the museum. Makes it easier to understand the timelines.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Binz, Strandhalle is a delightful eatery that beautifully blends the charm of a vintage auction house with the warmth of a cozy living room. The restaurant boasts an inviting ambiance, adorned with wood-paneled decor and eclectic furnishings that tell their own stories. Here, guests can indulge in a delectable array of seafood and grilled dishes while surrounded by unique artifacts, including bookshelves and nautical decorations. This quirky setting adds to its allure, making every meal feel like an adventure.
What an amazing place! Not only you can feel and see how things were back in XIX century but being able to taste the food of that quality is very unique. I had a sea bass and my wife took beef cheeks. Personally I have not eaten better fish. Strongly recommending!
Wszebor B — Google review
Beautiful interior in the old hall of Binz. Excellent service and delicious food. We had the escargot to start and then three different fish offerings from Lothar's favorite to smoked mackerel. All outstanding!
Micah L — Google review
I really need to polish (not Polish) my German, or learn to use Google translate every time. Yes, I knew I was getting some skinny sausages with fried potatoes and remoulade. I didn't know I was getting a German Pluto pup (aka dagwood dog). Happily, this surprise was like finding out your dad is the most famous restaurateur in Australia (It was 1968, I was 5, but still..). These super-frankfurters (well, Vienniese actually) were fried in something that was crisper than frozen Mars bar (so I'm told). The potatoes were about 5/10, and the remoulade, while not standard, was really good. My partners fish was described the same as what I'd had nearby the night before. But this version was an exemplar of the difference great cooking makes. Beautiful roo. Sublime service. A real pleasure regardless of translation.

Impressive restaurant. The interior is incredibly well decorated (check the photos) and the single recipes are so elaborated, that you could as well be in a starred Michelin restaurant. Everything was simply outstanding so, if you are in Binz, it definitely deserve a visit (booking in advance is HIGHLY recommended).

Lovely restaurant in an old dance hall! I can recommend the "Due Vitello" It is both a vitello tonnato and a vitello with Vinagrette, which is very fresh! Very lovely was the scalop too! The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is very cozy, I love the different sortment of sofa and chairs!

Mediterranean restaurant
German restaurant
Weltenbummler is a vibrant restaurant with a mix of an auction house, living room, and dining space. The high ceiling venue is adorned with eclectic items like a bookshelf with a sailboat. It's popular among travelers who appreciate its cozy ambiance and diverse menu featuring seafood, meat (including great steaks), and pasta. While some fusion dishes may miss the mark, the seafood is praised for its freshness and flavor. Diners particularly enjoy the octopus and shrimp dishes.
Great food! One teenager had pasta och another steak - large portion = great for our teenagers:) Professional and fun waiters👍🏻
Dan B — Google review
There was only 5 shrimps in the Gambas al ajillo, we paid €15 for the shrimps. We ordered another Pesto Pasta, there’s no Pesto in it, the waiter claimed that he didn’t mislead our plate. They shouldn’t said they’re Spanish dishes if they don’t know how to prepare it:)
Alexander — Google review
The food here is overall good, though a bit on the pricey side. The seafood, in particular, is incredibly fresh and full of flavor (the octopus and shrimp are super delicious). While the menu offers some interesting fusion dishes, not all of them hit the mark. For instance, the tuna steak itself was excellent, but the combination of elements on the plate felt a bit off and didn’t quite harmonize. On a brighter note, the homemade desserts are absolutely delicious and worth saving room for.
Loan N — Google review
Really good food and kind service . Her Sebastian und Madeline were very kind and good host. The meat was one of the best meat I ever had, perfect coocked and served . We sat inside which was was really nice . Outside was also very nice but due to wind a bit chili. Rindersteak 200gr and rump steak 250gr were stunning tasteful and good. Tagliatte do manzo as a starter was also perfect to share .
B. Z — Google review
Visually pleasing experience for both the interior setting consisting of cute decors from and wall murals of many cities around the world and the presentations of the food. It was a great place to dine in while in Binz, and I will definitely recommend it. The food was absolutely delicious - the selection covers the main cuisines from all around the world, making it actually hard to choose!
Mina K — Google review
After a long, refreshing walk along the beach, I stumbled upon this gem of a place—and what a discovery it was! The ambience was laid-back yet thoughtfully designed, with a cozy, natural vibe that immediately put me at ease. The highlight, though, was undoubtedly the food. I ordered the tandoori-marinated fish, and I have to admit—I wasn't sure what to expect when I saw it paired with wasabi and a chili mango sauce. But it worked beautifully. The smoky, spiced fish contrasted perfectly with the sharp heat of the wasabi and the sweet kick from the mango. Each bite was a perfect fusion of Indian and East Asian flavors, and the plate was as much a feast for the eyes as it was for the palate. Add to that the texture and earthiness of black lentils, vibrant pickled vegetables, and sea greens, and you have a dish that’s both unique and deeply satisfying. The small touches—like the vivid green sauce dots and a rich dipping glaze—show real attention to detail. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys creative cuisine and a relaxing atmosphere. This is fusion done right.

Hamburger restaurant
PETER PANE Burgergrill & Bar in Ostseebad Binz offers a delightful dining experience with fresh ingredients and top-notch quality, making it the go-to spot for burger enthusiasts. The restaurant boasts a great atmosphere, attentive service, and happy guests. It's also pet-friendly, providing fresh water for furry friends. While some visitors experienced longer wait times and minor issues with their orders, others praised the diverse menu with clearly labeled vegan options and delicious alcohol-free cocktails.
The sweet potato fries are absolutely finger-licking delicious and go so well with parmesan cream sauce! Their Avocado and Holli Molli burgers were great. Good service. Dogs are allowed inside. Fast and kind service. Don’t forget to try their self-made mint holunder drink!
Onur — Google review
The most important thing about this restaurant is the location. You can seat outside with see view and enjoy your meal if it is not rainy. Dogs are allowed and the atmosphere is perfect. Food was great, how ever I found the dessert very sweet. We were 3 persons, and we found a table almost after two minutes. Staff are very friendly but when there is very busy you need to be a little patient to receive your orders. I recommend it if you go there.
Mojgan — Google review
The food was very good and delicious. We were a group of 4 people. Hamburger and salad were the dishes we ordered. All the dishes were delicious and fresh. The food was served very quickly. The restaurant was a bit crowded. We also ordered french fries, which were forgotten. When we ordered it again, it was served after we had finished our meals, which was too late, and no apology was given.
Mehdi M — Google review
Just amazing. The burger was simple, but all the ingredients were rich and extremely flavourful. The atmosphere was lovely, they brought us blankets to fight off the cold. The wait time wasn't that long even though it was really really crowded. And the service was spectacular, the waiter kept joking with us. It was super fun
Hana S — Google review
We liked this place! The service was quick, and burgers and salads were great, and the seaview was fantastic. That's what makes the place really outstanding, unless you are after seafood (as there is none in this place) 😀 .
Mikhail K — Google review
Very friendly staff. Good burgers, delicious desert. Food was quickly brought out. Homemade lemonade and cocktails also recommended. At dinner time definitely need a reservation, they had to turn lots of people down. However, at around 20:45 it became more relaxed. 👍

Fine dining restaurant
Located in the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Binz, Freustil offers a high-end dining experience with inventive set menus featuring regional dishes served in multiple small courses. The restaurant prides itself on its rustic-chic space adorned with nautical decor and a cozy atmosphere. Guests can enjoy exciting flavor combinations and high-quality ingredients, including vegetarian options upon request. Led by Ralf Haug, the restaurant has earned accolades such as a Michelin star and is known for its exceptional cuisine.
My first time dining at a Michelin-star restaurant, and Freustil exceeded all expectations. We had the 10-course meal, which, while a lot of food, was an incredible experience. For the first time ever, I described food as ‘a dream’. The staff was incredibly friendly, making us feel comfortable and well taken care of throughout the evening. There was one small hiccup with one waiter being a bit pushy while pouring something into my boyfriend’s glass, which felt a little odd. But overall, it was an unforgettable experience.

Better late than never. Unsure how we missed this place until now :) Quietly spectacular. Beautiful interior. Fantastic lunch ( 3 courses for €38.00 ). A completely streamlined experience. Table ware, quality of food, presentation; all absolutely excellent. Knowledgeable and attentive staff. Very pleased we chose this place for my birthday lunch. Unsure there is anywhere nicer in Binz. You have to try this place, for sure. ♡♡♡♡♡

One of the best food experience that somebody can have in Binz! I tried 10 gang menu , was super delicious
Elina — Google review
Amazing value!! I would definitely come back!! The food is good and the presentation is great. We had to wait a bit to give our order but the service was nice. I sat on the bench and it was a bit low and far from the table for me (i am more than 1 m70 tall), but there are tables with only chairs where i wouldn’t have had that problem. i only regret I didn’t try this restaurant earlier…I would have been back for lunch every day !!
Laurence-Anne D — Google review
Great experience at Freustil! We had the six course menu, which was delicious from start to finish. The dishes were creative and also with charming twists, like the strawberry gazpacho. The service was also great, being very attentive and nice, while also creating a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Can highly recommend this restaurant!
Jacob S — Google review
I opted for the 10-course menu. The service was impeccable throughout the entire meal, which spanned approximately 3.5 hours. The restaurant's decor and furnishings were impressive. While the beverage prices were in line with those of other Michelin-starred establishments, I was disappointed to find that the cutlery exhibited visible scratches and wash marks. Additionally, the lack of air conditioning within the restaurant was incongruous with the establishment's pricing structure. On a positive note, the restaurant accepts all major credit cards, which is a convenient feature for diners.
A — Google review
Came here spontaneously and enjoyed the 3 course lunch with the family. Was delighted to see that they had a nice simple menu for kids. The service was friendly. The salad was nothing exceptional, but the entrée won us over with a wonderful dynamic of flavours and textures. The dessert was simple yet nicely executed. Enjoyed by both adults and kids alike. Overall everything was extremely reasonably priced and would love to dine here again and experience more from the chef.
Steffonn C — Google review
Freustil seems to drift in an out Michelin-favor recently, now out? Quite good kitchen- we took the 10 course-meal, and every round was up to standard, most of it excellent. The kitchen has a knack for constrasting flavours, like paprika-wasabi- lemonsorbet ice. They made me like gorgonzola, which i hate. All courses presented nicely, though not very subtle. Good colours. Surprisingly good Croatian red whine advised. The whole shebang was a bit rich though, I was rather stuffed and exhausted at the 8th course. And while the kitchen manages to create well crafted, complex tastes, they could focus a little bit more on mouth feeling, combining soft, crunch, chew etc. But alltogether quite satisfying and creative. The service left somewhat to be desired. While nice and enthousiastic at the start, if you enjoy a 250 euro a person meal, you don’t expect them to start preparing the tables for tomorrow around you while you are enjoying your desert. It sends the message: can you go now please? And you expect to get something with your bye bye-espresso. And you don’t want to go looking for a waiter for the bill and find them happily chatting together in some backroom. At a certain moment, they seemed to forget that we were in the house. All in all - semi-professional, need some drilling.

Mediterranean restaurant
Restaurant Diavolo is a spacious eatery located on the seafront promenade, offering a variety of Mediterranean dishes such as pasta and pizza. The menu includes delectable options like perfectly prepared Naan and Kama, with prices that are considered reasonable for the quality of food served. Families will appreciate the extensive selection of delicious children's meals. The restaurant is known for its friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular choice among visitors to Binz.
Excellent. Was a recommendation from a local. Spontaneous walk-in with large dog, and they still accommodated us for dinner. Super-friendly service, with several staff checking on us. Delicious food. We had the pumpkin soup and meat-filled ravioli as a starter, both enjoyed the Hirschrücken as our main (out of this world, literal perfection) and shared the warm chocolate cake with sorbet and cream as dessert. Beautiful meal. Decent wine (Riesling) and a lovely Hugo as an aperitif- glad we checked this place out. So nice! Strong recommendation.

I visited Restaurant Diavolo in Binz last year and enjoyed it so much that I had to come back again — and it was just as amazing this time! The place is super clean and welcoming, with excellent service and very friendly staff. The food was absolutely delicious — every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality, great taste, and a warm atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back again! 👏🍽️

Why can I give five stars only? Outstandingly friendly waiters, always smiling and ready for a brief chat despite a packed restaurant. We didn’t know what to decide for from the menu. All very delicious. We will be back. Sure.

A nice restaurant with a pleasant and fresh atmosphere. We had a good dinner, all dishes we ordered were tasty. My friend said, she had her best steak :) The service was very friendly and professional.

Don’t oder the Spaghetti “SVEN” or “ANNI”, they are tasteless and a lot of people already complain about that in reviews. Service was ok, nice atmosphere, good quality, only the taste of the food doesn’t match the devil’s name.
Sira K — Google review
There was a cue of people outside the restaurant, about a 30 minute waiting list. Once we got in, we wish we never did. We ordered starters which dere pretty bad: the vitello tonato was was super sweet. The bruschetta’s were “okay” (but it’s quiet difficult to mess that up) The main courses were a disaster : penne pasta tasted like plastic (I prefer supermarket food more) + the spaghetti with beef was basically a plate of plain spaghetti with some weird dry meat.. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone!
