City park
Nadikvari Park, situated atop a hill near the city center, offers beautiful panoramic views of the Alazani Valley and Caucasus Mountains. The park features cozy seating areas, lush greenery, and ongoing renovations. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere while taking in the refreshing landscapes of trees and flowers. Additionally, there's a nearby restaurant for convenience. Accessible from the city center, this park provides a great opportunity to relax and unwind while admiring stunning mountain vistas.
A lovely park with shady spots where you can sit and relax. In the center of the park, there used to be a great restaurant, but unfortunately, it’s currently under renovation. Still, everyone comes here because the park offers a beautiful view of the Alazani Valley.

Cozy park, a lot of benches, beautiful plants and a restaurant nearby. They are still in the process of renovating some part of it. it's very accessible from the city center as from the bottom part you can't directly reach the place. In any case, it's worth the visit.
Ekaterine ( — Google review
This park in Telavi is beautifully maintained and has excellent infrastructure. It’s conveniently located, with parking and even a restaurant nearby. The views from the park over the valley and the city are simply stunning, especially at sunset. There are several playgrounds and sports areas, which make it great for families and active visitors. The park is clean, with a lovely green lawn where you can spread a blanket and relax with friends. A truly enjoyable spot to spend time in Telavi!

The Giant Plane Tree in Telavi is a beloved local landmark and a must-see for visitors. Estimated to be over 900 years old, this Orientalis tree stands at an impressive 40 meters in height and 12 meters in diameter. It has witnessed numerous historical events and is a source of pride for the locals. Visitors can enjoy the picturesque view of the Alazani valley from this iconic spot.
A place that shouldn't be missed. A tree which saw histories of human kind. Amazing!
Ika S — Google review
It's cool that it's 900 years old, so imagine the history it has seen. However, it isn't all that interesting at the end of the day. I preferred the nearby Mechanical Snails sculpture.
Phil M — Google review
Oh, the Giant Plane Tree in Telavi! What a legend! Standing there, all gnarly and majestic, roughly 900 years old. Nine hundred years! Can you even imagine? If I were 900, I'd probably just be a pile of dust mumbling about how "back in my day, the internet wasn't a thing and squirrels respected elders." This tree, though? It's just chilling. It's seen empires rise and fall, countless kings parade by, probably witnessed the invention of Khachapuri – and it's still just, well, a tree. No mid-life crisis, no complaining about its roots aching, just sprawling branches and a silent, leafy wisdom. It doesn't even have a pension plan! I'd be demanding a golden plaque, free valet parking for my roots, and a team of professional leaf-polishers. Meanwhile, this ancient arboreal guru just stands there, providing shade, looking fabulous, and probably laughing silently at our frantic human existence. It's the ultimate "been there, done that" vibe, without ever actually doing anything but photosynthesis. So next time you're feeling old, remember this tree. Then remember you probably still have working knees. Mostly. And that's something, right? It's definitely better than being a fixed-location, slightly mossy, silent giant. Mostly.
Pixel V — Google review
The Giant Plane Tree This is a 900 year old tree standing near the city centre square of Telavi - a town in the Kakheti region of Georgia. The board depicts its height as 46 m, dia 3.6 m, and girth 12m. Botanic name of this tree is Platanus Orientalis. Trees belonging to this family are known for their longevity. The tree bears testimony to the vagaries of Nature. The trunk of this tree has gone hollow to such an extent that, if not cared about, it could fall down in a storm. The government has realised this and has undertaken measures to save this giant tree. A project is underway to fix braces / supports to the trunk and prune the branches causing imbalance. I visited this place in April 2024 and saw people embracing the tree and seeking its blessings for their wishes to come true.
Raj S — Google review
Impressive point of interest. Seems very old tree. Local authority took great care and protection to save the environment . Have seen more old with bigger inner cave!
Dimitris S — Google review
The tree is very impressive, but what's more impressive and breathtaking is the view
Merav Y — Google review
An impressive must visit place while you are around
Marina L — Google review
As we know, this legendary tree is about 900 years old. In principle, methods and technologies are judged to approximately date the age of even an uncut tree. It saddens me that this huge tree has lost almost the entire inside of the trunk and it can barely hold its huge forks. It is also sad that the video footage taken in the second half of the 70s of the twentieth century clearly shows that the tree did not have the horrific problems described above. The thought creeps into my mind that we ourselves are vynovaty in this. We obviously couldn't save this tree from slaughter.

Fortress
Museums
Batonis Tsikhe, also known as the Master Fortress or Princes Fortress, is a historic site located in Telavi, Georgia. It was reconstructed in the 17th century and features ramparts, towers, a royal palace, and bathhouses within its compound. The fortress has witnessed power struggles and political turmoil throughout history. The complex is situated within old fortification walls made of uncut stones due to the city's history of being besieged numerous times.
The stunning Tsinandali Gardens, the palace and historic winery-estate once belonged to the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze (1786–1846) If you have time, visit the palace inside and have a coffee there!
Ula M — Google review
Although it is placed in the center of the city, being on the fortress's walls makes you think you are at the edge of it. It would be nice if there were any trees placed in the inner space of the fortress, what will give you a shadow in a hot sunny day. There is a museum right in the center of the fortress, don't forget to visit it!
Aliaksandr D — Google review
Batonis Tsikhe Castle: Finding Beauty in a Cloudy Dawn Despite the promise of a glorious sunrise, the morning sky over Telavi decided to play coy, shrouding Batonis Tsikhe Castle (ბატონის ციხე) in a soft, diffused light. Yet, even without the brilliant golden hues, a profound beauty emerged. The ancient stone walls, typically bathed in warm sunshine, took on a more somber, atmospheric character. This unexpected shift in weather brought a different kind of magic. The subtle grey tones and the quiet stillness accentuated the castle's historical gravitas, allowing its centuries of stories to whisper through the cool morning air. The absence of harsh sunlight meant no strong shadows, revealing intricate details often overlooked. It was a reminder that beauty isn't always defined by perfection. This cloudy dawn at Batonis Tsikhe offered a unique, contemplative experience, a testament to the castle's enduring majesty even under a subdued sky. The spirit of discovery, fueled by optimism, found its reward in the quiet grandeur of this historical landmark.
Pixel V — Google review
This is a large complex placed inside the old fortification wall. The area is quite big. The walls are built of uncut stones. Probably this is because this city has been besieged many times by hordes of disgusting numerous enemies who have destroyed it many times. And as I guess, there was no point in building high-quality and elegant walls. There are many historical and important things remained inside this fortress. There is King Erekle II Palace, new Telavi Historical Museum and a couple of preserved old churches. One of them, which is smaller, as we know, was built in the 17th century by the son of St. Ketevan, King Teimuraz I of Kakheti. And the second, comparatively large church was built under the reign of King Erekle II himself. This is an important spiritual place for Georgians.
Kakha K — Google review
Nothing special, there wasnt much to see inside. Compared to Akhaltsikhe ( yes its renovated and not as authentic but still ) it was very weak. Atleast there was no entry ticket
Jakub Ď — Google review
Inside the museum was very interesting with local history in the permanent show and then the other half of the museum was of Georgian historical art which was amazing but this was a temporary display. We paid 5 gel and it was definitely worth having a look around but it isn’t really suit for young children. Overall worth a visit if you in the small city.
Harvey S — Google review
Nestled in the heart of Telavi is the Batonitsikhe Fortress, where the Kakhetian kings lived centuries ago. This fortress, built with strong stone walls, tells stories of the past. Inside, you can explore the Telavi Historical Museum, where you can learn about the history of the area. You can also visit the palace of King Erekle II, designed like those you might find in Persia, with its grand and majestic style. There are many dogs there that can follow you along and be aware as well. Several days later I heard some tourist was even bitten.
Ekaterine ( — Google review
It is a magnificent, historical place. You will see: the palace of the King of Kakheti (17th-18th centuries), the churches of the royal court (10th-18th centuries), the royal bath, a tunnel laid out on the territory of the palace, and the unique gates on the east and west sides...

Market
Shopping mall
Telavi Bazaar is a vibrant and colorful market in Georgia, offering a wide variety of fresh produce, including fruits, vegetables, spices, and preserves. It is the perfect place for leisurely walks and small-scale shopping. The market boasts local and organic products such as tomatoes that are incredibly delicious throughout Georgia. Visitors can also indulge in Georgian delicacies like churchkhela (fruit leather) and explore the selection of cheese.
A Must-Visit Market – Telavi Bazaar! We always make sure to visit Telavi Bazaar whenever we’re in the area, and it never disappoints! This market is a true gem—you can find absolutely anything here, from fresh produce and local delicacies to unique items that you won’t see anywhere else. The food is especially amazing—everything is fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic
Salome G — Google review
I wandered through Telavi Bazaar early in the morning and it was such a cool experience. Fresh produce everywhere, local cheeses and spices, and friendly vendors who were happy to chat even with my limited Georgian. It felt really alive but not too crowded at that time. A great place to grab a snack, people-watch, and get a feel for the local culture.

Typical Georgian bazaar with fresh veggies, fruits and way more...
Ana G — Google review
We love Telavi very much. It's a great place, a great small town with a medieval touch. This city is located quite high, its center is located at an altitude of about 720 meters from sea level. About 11-12 years ago, the center, the historical part of the city, was beautifully and qualitatively restored. This is a fairly large area. But this particular place around today's bazaar (a retail market for food and other goods) is simply extremely unpleasant, unsettled and out of date. Yes, you can buy a lot of things there, delicious food and other things, but still this place is bad. It needs a major update. Private cars depart from the adjacent place to the capital, to Tbilisi. They seat four passengers in the car. Each seat now to Tbilisi costs 10 GEL. It must be said here that their passenger cars that were parked there are all designed for a maximum of two passengers in the back. And these drivers put three people in there. This is unacceptable and bad. Although it is clear that this is done because of the economically poor state of the country, the drivers and passengers.
Kakha K — Google review
Perfect place for walking and small shopping. Vegetable and fruits, spices, cheese ....i think all from local and bio quality. Tomatoes are amazing tasty in All Georgia. People are everywhere helpfull.

The service and food at Doli were perfection! We thought we'd already tasted delicious Georgian food but the tomato salad and other dishes really were up there. Thanks to Anna who was extremely knowledgeable, guiding us through wine options to accompany our food!

The place has a beautiful atmosphere. We weren’t very hungry, so we tried the bean hummus, which was very delicious. I also had an excellent coffee. Probably the most delicious food in Telavi. You have amazing waiters and staff. Thank you!
Tina K — Google review
We absolutely loved this Doli. The food was brilliant and Anna x2 and Nia were excellent hosts. The Tomato salad (that you get everywhere) was the best we tasted from all restaurants in Georgia, served with their crusty oven bread and Kahetian oil. The chicken with plum sauce was also a standout. Such a brilliant venue from our trip, so much so that we went back again, convenient that it is opposite a cute ceramics store called Kera and on one of the prettiest streets in Telavi!!! Cannot recommend enough! Thank you to the whole team for a great time twice! They were brilliant with the kids too!
Darin D — Google review
There were many traditional Georgian dishes with a twist on the menu, also a lot of vegetarian options. The food was tasty, but came in slightly smaller portions, perfect size for sharing or for a snack/small bite. They also had a natural wine menu that seemed interesting but unfortunately we didn't have time to try it.

Just what we needed! Modern Georgian food and natural wine. We had a bit of everything, both vegetables and meat. Best was the cauliflower, beets and beans. But everything was great. Food was served stylish and rustic, and the atmosphere in the small restaurant was great. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the wine list. If you are planning on going to Telavi this should be on your list of things to experience.

Nestled in a quaint courtyard, Zodiako is a must-visit restaurant that captures the essence of Kakhetian cuisine. Renowned for its mouthwatering dishes, this rustic eatery serves up delectable mtsvadi (grilled meat skewers), vibrant pkhali (vegetable spreads), and juicy khinkali (meat-filled dumplings) that leave diners raving about their flavors.
This restaurant was full of locals, which made the experience feel very authentic. The staff spoke English and there was an English menu available, which made everything much easier. Prices were very low, and the food was good – not exceptional, but definitely worth it. It was a great chance to try different dishes we hadn’t tasted before, all with solid quality. Highly recommended for the local atmosphere, affordable prices, and overall good experience.
Anny L — Google review
Our experience was very surprising, compared to other positive reviews here. We have been travelling for 7 weeks across 6 different countries and this was easily the worst meal we've had. We waited over 45mins for the Pork Stew and potatoes. It was extremely dry and hard, barely edible. We barely received a word from the various staff and certainly no smiles. Other guests around us also did not seem happy. I think the place was having a very bad night.
Travis G — Google review
Delicious Food, Slightly Noisy Atmosphere The food was absolutely outstanding – some of the best and most flavorful dishes I’ve ever tasted. Every bite was a delight! The only downside was the noise level, which was a bit too much at times and slightly affected the overall experience. Still, I would definitely come back for the amazing food.
Tam — Google review
The khinkali meat was very weird looking, and some of the khinkali’s had rotten meat smell. We stopped eating. Do not recommend! The beer was average, nothing special.
Ketevani A — Google review
The prices are fair and the food is very tasty. We have ordered Classic Khinkali and Pork BBQ. The staff is very helpfull and understands English. There are a lot of locals in the place, which makes it authentic. We have stuck we a rented car, the battery is died. The owner of the restaurant assisted us with starting the car. Awesome food and people!

Ordered ostri, beef khinkali and sulguni khinkali, all great and delicious! The waitress was also very nice and gave good service.
K — Google review
I've always liked their food and often visited before they expanded and moved to this huge space which seems a big mistake. We ordered khinkali, simple salad and beer. Part of khinkali was served after 40 minutes, only half 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ we waited for another half and our simple salad of 🍅🥒. We tried to summon any waiters. Finally managed and reminded of our order. After half an hour they brought khinkali but salad was still missing, but as children waanted it so much, we again reminded several waiters to bring it. The manager, an angryfaced woman was walking up and down but no use of her. The solution is easy - they just need to divide the space and put in charge certain waiters. Not that as they do - all of them run up and down, far and eide across. And it is unbearably noisy. Not comfortable at all 😔😔😔 Khinkali was ok, i suppose. We were so stressed, actually i do not even remember how it tasted
Khati K — Google review
The food was 9/10. -1 point for the khinkali, becouse it was the reason to go there, but taste was not that good. But all the rest was tasty, and also we got take away meat, it was great. Staf is friendly, service was fast. Will definitely return

Kapiloni is a Georgian and European restaurant located in Telavi, Georgia. It offers a delightful dining experience with delicious Georgian specialties and local wines. The restaurant's location across from the Bastonistsikhe Castle provides a charming setting, featuring a large outdoor terrace perfect for summer dining. With two levels and a nice courtyard, it offers picturesque views of the mountains and the old fortress.
Tried my first Adjarian Khachapuri at Kapilioni and it was amazing. The cheese, the gooey egg, the bread all perfect. Watching them make it fresh right there made it even better. Seriously, I could eat this every day!
Nor A — Google review
The restaurant provided a decent dining experience overall. The food was enjoyable, though not outstanding, with a solid 7/10 for taste. Some dishes stood out more than others, but the flavors were generally satisfying. The service was friendly and polite, and the staff made an effort to ensure our comfort. However, there was a mix-up with our order, which, while not a major issue, did slightly impact the experience. The atmosphere was one of the restaurant’s stronger points—inviting, well-maintained, and perfect for a casual outing with friends or family. The pricing was average and felt appropriate for what was offered. While it’s not the most remarkable place we’ve visited, it’s a good option for a relaxed meal. A little more consistency in the food quality and attention to detail in service could elevate the experience further. P.S. One important detail: the restaurant does not accept card payments, so make sure to bring cash. ‼️‼️⚠️
Teimurazi K — Google review
Food is very good and prices are quite affordable. Service is terrible, the waiter seemed like he didn’t want to work and told me not to get the khinkalis as they would take 1 hour to be ready. I said it was fine, I wanted khinkalis and could wait, to which a received a very indifferent response and him raising his eyebrows like I am a stupid tourist. Terrace is nice during the summer. Georgian hospitality is nowhere to be found in this restaurant
Sonia R — Google review
I like the resturant and its vibe. Communication however is not that easy. The plate I tried was meat with vegetables was ok, I don’t recommend to try it with sauce. Will go again to explore the menu properly
Sarah A — Google review
Very nice view. However, two weeks in Georgia and this is definitely the worst meal we've had, the food (both dishes) were dry (over cooked), it does have potential but probably not worth the risk. We noticed numerous other tables leaving most of their meals, so I would have to guess we were not the only unsatisfied customers. Would not recommend coming here.
Shane B — Google review
The food was good. The restaurant is cash only if you’re not Georgian so take into consideration The service was horrible and every server looked like they wanted to die. They didn’t ask if we wanted more wine, didn’t bring our plates at the same time (10-15 minutes between each plate) and we had to ask multiple time to receive water when we arrived
Marc G — Google review
Terrible food, terrible service! The caesar salad was mushy, because it was poorly made. The chicken was still hot, so leaves were all boiled. the khatchapuri was so smelly, the dough was not right and cheese was simply not a cheese! We couldn’t even eat one slice! And at first, they asked us to pay in cash only! Do not recommend!
Ketevani A — Google review
Disgusting place, waitresses are impolite and rude, with faces if they were forced to work here. The food just common, nothing special, there are a lot of places in Georgia with much more delicious food. Not so clean, forks just lie on the table, which is supposed to be not so clean, old plates with dark scratches.

Really lovely restaurant with a long garden. Plenty of tables both inside and outside. So impressed with food that we went twice. Good selection on the menu with cheesy mash and dumplings in broth as highlights. Our server on first night was extremely good - even told us when we’d ordered too much. Wine cellar was well stocked with local wines. Second night was only soured by intimidating FSB guy who literally had the kitchen shut for our dessert.

I didn’t enjoy wine and they recommended me something with potatoties and ajika which was nice but i wanted to try something super Georgian. really awesome food and a perfect wine tasting spot. You can order and go for wine tasting in the meantime. They will keep the food ready. The most amazing chicken in mushroom and cream sauce. In veg you also get an option for rice with vegetables which is not common in most Tbilisi menu. Kakheti food is usually better than Tbilisi. This is a must visit place. The wine tasting tour is also epic with view of clay pot where wines are kept, understanding the prices, tasting different flavours

Amazing food and fantastic service all with a great view! It really does look like the photos. It is reasonably priced and they did let our small dog sit on the terrace with us. I would definitely come back!

We had a fantastic evening at this Georgian restaurant and winery. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed a variety of small plates—each one full of flavor and beautifully prepared. It felt like a Georgian-style tapas experience. The wine tasting was a real highlight. Every wine we tried was unique and paired perfectly with the food. You could really taste the craftsmanship behind each bottle. Overall, the quality was high, the portions generous, and the prices more than fair. A great spot for anyone curious about Georgian cuisine and wine.

Great Georgian Food with Plenty of Vegetarian Options We had a lovely evening at this cozy Georgian restaurant and winery. The menu offers a wide range of flavorful small plates, and we were especially impressed by how many delicious vegetarian options there were. Everything we tried was fresh, well-seasoned, and perfect for sharing. The wine tasting made the experience even more special—each wine was distinctive and complemented the food beautifully. Generous portions, fair prices, and a relaxed atmosphere make this place a real find for anyone who enjoys vibrant, plant-forward cuisine and great wine.

The warm atmosphere made us feel right at home, and the small plates were a delight – each one bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It was like experiencing a Georgian twist on tapas. The wine tasting was a standout, with every bottle showcasing unique characteristics that paired perfectly with the food. You could really taste the care and craftsmanship that went into each wine. With generous portions, high quality, and fair prices, this spot is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Georgian cuisine and wine in Telavi.

Well, the food was good, but I noticed that the portions served to us tourists were half the size of those served to the Georgians. It was very obvious since we ordered the same dishes and were sitting at neighboring tables! That was quite disappointing! The wine tasting was a nice experience – we tried some really good wines! The prices were slightly on the high side.”

The food was mediocre, not worth the money. The dishes were dirty, and the service was slow.
