Fun & Games
Towcester Racecourse is a venue for National Hunt racing, featuring conference facilities and hospitality suites that offer views of the racecourse. In addition to horse racing, the racecourse also hosts Greyhound racing events. It is known for its Chinese restaurant called Dilraj Indian, as well as various other pubs and bars in the area. Visitors can enjoy a fun day out at the racecourse, with options to book boxes for large groups.
Appears to be under new management. Really well looked after. Enjoyed a three course meal during Round 1 of the Greyhound Derby. Highly recommended for a day out!

Just visited Towcester for the semi finals of the greyhound Derby. Parking was free and plentiful on rough cut long grass. Staff are pleasant and efficient and the venue is cheap and cheerful, if a bit tired. The three course meal in the restaurant was a taste sensation- was not expecting that! Betting was easy as tote came to the table if you wanted and I could get good phone signal so could use my betting app easily. Balcony was smothered in swallow/ bird poo due to nests under the eves, which could have been cleaned before the event. Otherwise a good night out!

Great family evening. We bought the Saturday package which was a bargain. Food simple but delicious. Venue great. Only issue that needs improving is parking facilities. Quite a distance from buildings, for those with walking difficulties. Its on grass, & when you get back to your cars its dark, muddy & with no directions to exit.
Chris L — Google review
Nice to see greyhound races again. A nice and relaxing saturday, ☀️ afternoon with a talk, a drink and a small bet. Nothing posh, but a nice spacious place with local people and families. 13 races. 5 pound pp fee to book online. Would definitely do it again some time.

My first visit to towcester and first introduction to dog racing. There were longish queues at the bar, but the bar staff were friendly, and polite. The track was very good with a big screen at three finish line, and like all courses there were a variety of size tv's if you didn't fancy braving the weather, it was raining off and on. There were seating areas where you could enjoy your drinks and your meal. I enjoyed my burger, but wished that the menu didn't have chips with everything. Our choice was burger, foot long hotdog. Currys, baked potatoes, pies, chicken wraps. All came with chips. My cheeseburger also came with yummy onion rings. Again it would have been nice to have had a choice of fried onions with the burgers and hotdogs. Rice with the curries would have been nice. Price was ok. I liked the chips. Some of our party used the restaurant, buti can't comment on that, sorry. I found the betting a little confusing being my first time, and unfortunately didn't have a win. I also found that the time between the races was very short. the races were over very quickly and before we knew it our evening had finished. All in all a very pleasant trip out with some very good company. A big thank you to our Dunstable Conservative Club for arranging it, well done Kev!.

Went to tonight for the greyhound racing with the family, was a great evening and very family friendly, only 1 point to make is that the place is starting to look very tired, the main screen on the track was pixelated so couldn't really see it very well and it just needs tidying up a bit. We paid online before coming but could have just walked in as no one was there to great us. Been a few times before and even saw the horses there once (wish they would come back.) Definitely be returning again and again. Thank you all.

Great afternoon at Towcester Racecourse today for Father’s Day, we booked a table for 10 in the restaurant. Food was good, shame no starter offered. Main course was hot and cooked perfectly, service was quick and pleasant. Drinks are either served or collected by yourself from the bar, no option for a tab to be opened which is a shame but possibly due to people not paying in the past. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, tote won today but we had a great days racing. Lots of free parking and no entrance fee so even if you don’t book the restaurant you can always enjoy the racing by using the bar and bookie’s downstairs. If your in Northamptonshire come and check it out it’s a beautiful location!

This was our first time at this venue. And we had a great Boxing day here. Might make it a tradition in future. A couple of us had a few wins. It was a great day out.

Fantastic museum nestled in towcester. We spent 1.5 hours and had great fun. There was craft activities for the children as well as dressing up costumes for each of the eras. The volunteers were so friendly and welcoming. They also have different quizzes for the children to do depending in their age and then they get a certificate at the end. Really recommend it of you would like a little outing and some fun.

Lovely museum showcasing local history through various time periods. Perfect for kids, with dressing up and other activities; and great for grown-ups, with a wealth of interesting info and artifacts. Cute little shop, and many nice cafés nearby for a cup of tea afterwards. Very nice, knowledgeable staff too!

Fabulous little museum with an abundance of history. Learned so much about Towcester and its rightful place in the history of England.

Superb, family friendly small museum run by a welcoming team . The display of artefacts is impressive and information plentiful. On my visit yesterday the museum visitors included families of school age children, teenagers without their parents, seniors and Grandads like me.Activities for children were excellent. Admission is such a good value and you can buy an annual ticket for countless visits at a small price. The shop is also an interesting browse with good prices.Definitely worth visiting more than once!

Towcester Museum and Visitor Centre is the sort of place that every small town with an interesting past should possess. It tells the history of the town from the Stone Age to the present day. It is especially good in catering for young people with appropriate clothes, armour, swords etc for dressing up and a questionnaire for active involvement in all aspects of the town’s history, with a certificate awarded to those who complete it. The staff were especially welcoming, friendly and helpful. The museum is a excellent resource for schools and staff are willing to discuss ways in which they can help to bring local history to life by providing talks, visits etc. Overall, it was an excellent place to spend an interesting and informative afternoon.
Tony D — Google review
I brought my two little boys here, a bit nervous about how 3 and 2 year olds would get on in a small museum. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and straight away gave us an age appropriate activity for the kids to complete. They got good quality certificates for completing the quiz. Upstairs there were lots of dress up items to try on including helmets, shields and swords. We spent plenty of time doing kids crafts too - lots of different things to put together and take home. This small museum was a great visit for my young kids and at only £3.50 entry I'd recommend it to anyone.

Was walking through towcester when i came across this lovely church, now i am not religious but i was for some reason drawn to this building. to my shock and awe when i went inside it turned out that one of my ancestors was once the rector before he became pope. i did have to sit a while to take it all in as it came as a shock to me, just goes to show it really is a small world
Sandra C — Google review
Very well looked after church with the oldest portion built c1200. The tower and aisles c 1461 - 1483. Excellent medieval high church atmosphere with a superb live pipe organ organist and choir present at most communion services. The present organ was installed in 1978 from the redundant church of St Edmund in Northampton. It was manufactured in 1886 by William Hill and Son of London. The previous "Pomfret Organ" was given by the Earl of Pomfret in 1817, and was originally in William Beckford's Fonthill Abbey, was damaged by fire in 1976 and remains in the Victoria & Albert museum awaiting sufficient allocation of funds to permit its restoration. Interesting positive sermons from Revd Ben Phillips and prayers and readings from the congregation make this a highly recommended Sunday service that takes place at 9.30am

Sarah was a wonderful host and the llamas were adorable. The setting is idyllic and super safe. The animals are really child-friendly and the walk is perfect through the forest. My llama was very sweet-natured and it's just a lovely place. Perfect for children, groups and adults!

Just had a two night stay in the gypsy caravan, so tranquil and relaxing, cooking on the campfire, a three hour llama treck hosted by Sarah who is very knowledgeable and helpful, this was our third stay at Catanger and will definitely be booking again for next year.

Sarah the host was amazing, lots to do here including trekking with llamas but also great options to stay in a hut or a Romany traveller unit. All with proper sanitation and lots of woods/pond to explore. Open fires and just a really great place. Can learn a lot about llamas and get souvenirs of trip. Easy to find, lots of parking. A real good experience, well looked after. Outdoors in nature, looking after an animal and some moderate exercise is a great way to spend some time. 5*****

Dilraj is a new local restaurant that offers an amazing banquet meal and exceptional service. The staff are friendly and attentive, making customers feel at home while also respecting their space. The food is authentic, delicious, and expertly guided by the staff's wonderful recommendations. Visitors have praised the great portion sizes and reasonable pricing, as well as the helpful and pleasant service.
We arrived for dinner. Waiting staff were lovely and friendly and advised there was a special banquet offer tonight as it is Sunday. 5 courses for £15 each. I had mango chicken and my husband had sizzling chicken, flambè at the table. The portions were very generous and unfortunately we were unable to finish our meal or take leftovers home as we are travelling home tomorrow & nowhere to store food. I'd recommend this restaurant.

Another awesome evening spent in the Dilraj Restaurant. I have been looked after by the amazing and friendly staff on my birthday and truly spoilt with a card, cake and balloon! 🎂🎈 The food is delicious and the staff are happy to accommodate any requests for spice levels! 🔥🌶️ There is a great atmosphere and we love going there! Thank you again, Ahmed and the team 😊

Another fabulous evening out to our favourite Indian restaurant, Ahmed looked after us as he always does. The staff are very attentive and will adapt anything on the menu ( my daughter doesn't like onion!) We had the banquet this evening, so we a starter, a main dish, a rice dish, a naan and a vegetable side dish, such good value for money. I never manage to eat all mine so I have enough for dinner tomorrow too! Excellent range of drinks here too including 0% beer.

I usually dine in the restaurant but we had an amazing takeaway this evening Generous portions and the food was tasty and fresh as always Delivered in 45 minutes by Ahmed with a smile

Very nice and clean restaurant. Food was fantastic. I had a chicken madras. The Best Indian in Towcester. You wont be disappointed. The staff are lovely and friendly! They will celebrate birthday and occasions too! Highly reccomend!!

Wow what a find! En route from an exhibition at the NEC I stopped in Tiowcester and looked for an Indian restaurant. I found Dilraj and it was the best find for ages. Luckily for me it was a Sunday and they do a five course Banquet for £14.95! I was immediately welcomed and shown to my table. Jay helped me with my selection from the extensive menu and what a meal! Arguably the best Indian I have ever had and due to my advancing years that’s quite a few. The staff were friendly and attentive, the place was spotless with a nice ambience. A younger person than me would say the food was banging. They would be right, the food was banging. The naan freshly cooked not made and then reheated. My only criticism it’s 40 miles from my home. Please move closer! Thanks for making me feel welcome and valued. Ps I also got a doggy bag 👍 Ian

We had a fantastic meal at The Dilraj! The food and service were both excellent – we went for the banquet and the value for money was outstanding. Jay, our server, was brilliant and made the whole experience even better. Easily one of the best places to eat in Towcester – highly recommend!

We came here for some food and to celebrate two birthdays. As we arrived the place was decorated, we had big happy birthday balloons, birthday cards and cake from the staff! This was such a wonderful touch and we can’t be more thankful. The food as always was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. I really can’t recommend this place enough. Staff are also so friendly and welcoming. Thank you

Truva Lounge Cocktail Bar is a delightful spot that has quickly become a favorite for many visitors. With its inviting atmosphere and beautifully decorated interiors, it offers an exceptional dining experience. Guests rave about the freshness of the food, particularly the mixed shish and tender lamb dishes, which are cooked to perfection every time. The attentive staff ensures that all dietary needs are met without any hassle, making it a welcoming place for everyone.
Not visited here for many years. We have been missing out!! The food was delicious. Lovely atmosphere in Truva. Food was ordered and came out promptly. I had the mixed grill which was lovely. My wife had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. For desert we both had the cheesecake which again was delicious. The only small criticism I have is that I had to ask twice for more drinks rather than the waiters asking us if we needed anything. We will definitely be back VERY soon

We love coming here. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food never disappoints. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for but another great meal.

Great experience. The place is nicely decorated and the service is friendly. The food are awesome as they come in decent proportions and the meat are tender and juicy. Will definitely come back.
Tim F — Google review
I don’t understand why this place received so many reviews. The lamb chops were like plastic, I think the meet was low quality or had been waiting too long. The meze plate was also excessively expensive, and each type of meze came in almost just one tablespoon. The taste was disappointing overall.
Neo A — Google review
A lovely restaurant with fab cocktails. Nice food and good value for money. Great menu choices. Nice outdoor patio areas for the summer. Lovely staff, especially Gracie who was excellent
Juliet P — Google review
Had a lovely meal in here last night. I have quite a small appetite and near that the adult portion would be too large. I was advised that I could take the remainder which I was aware of due to the fact we often get a takeaway from here. The food is clean full of flavour and wallet is the generous portion. It’s not too much if you have a standard appetite. The drinks were yummy, including a lovely Baileys martini that I had as my dessert. The customer service is very good. We were greeted straightaway shown to our table. They were tentative without being too much. Good timing between starters Main and desert. And there was always a member of staff about should you need to ask a question? Thank you for a lovely evening. See you again for one of my healthier Takeaway choices. 🥰
S M — Google review
Amazing place, cannot fault the incredible staff. The ace the service with a smile. The food is Devine!!!
Frankie M — Google review
The family have been to Truva over half a dozen times now and the food, service and atmosphere is elementary. Portion size is perfect, cater for any dietary requirements and never had to return any meal to the kitchen. The guys are always on hand to ensure your experience in their restaurant is 5 star. I personally saw another individual accidentally drop her fork on the floor and before she had chance to ask the waiter had already picked it up off the floor and replaced it from an empty table. The atmosphere is perfect, music a perfect level to sound out noise from other tables but low enough to have a great conversation with who you are with.

The Folly is a charming traditional thatched building dating back to the mid-1700s, located in the rural outskirts of Towcester. It offers a British menu and features a beautiful garden. The original cottage-style look has been preserved, giving it an authentic countryside feel. Despite changes in ownership, the high standards set by the original owner have been maintained, with only slight additions to the menu expected in the future.
We were lucky enough to get a late lunch booking and we had a wonderful afternoon. A great , almost retro style dining experience , with fantastic service. The food was amazing - you can tell it was all freshly cooked. A lovely way to while away a Sunday afternoon

Did not disappoint! Delicious 10/10 Fish and Chips, which I totally recommend. We visited the Folly during the Bank Holiday. Plenty of parking, great atmosphere and lovely historical building.

Love little thatched roofed inn serving delicious, freshly cooked food. Had the black pudding and potato skins to start- tasty and a bit different. Pork for main. Crackling was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of it. Lemon tart for dessert which is on their set menu. Tangy and a decent amount of pastry. Service was good, staff were friendly and helpful. Would come back when in the area.
Ruth C — Google review
Ordered a ‘medium rare’ steak, was presented with a well done steak. Brought this to the waitress’ attention, she simply walked away and left my plate there. She returned a few minutes later and took my plate. Then she came back again with the same plate of food and said ‘this was our last steak, we can offer you 15% off’. I attempted to each my very dry and chewy steak which was so over salted, the skin on my tongue has worn away. Ploughman’s board was very mediocre with what looked like supermarket quiche / pie on there. Onion soup was also very mediocre. Vegetables were yellowed and rotten, should not have been given to paying customers. Do not buy the story about the last steak; why did my plate need to be taken to the chef in order for that to be determined if the waitress spoke to him already before she took my plate.
Ailar S — Google review
Thought I'd write this whilst I'm still sat here. Wow, incredible food. Seriously one of the best meals i have ever eaten. This place should have a Michelin Star. Everything was perfect. We will definitely be coming back. I'm just annoyed I've lived here for years and never been!!!

Lunch on Sunday 5th Positives. lovely atmosphere Negatives. Ordered a Lime and sodas no ice , came with ice Sunday roast was average . The meat difficult was difficult to cut with a very blunt knife spoiling the meal. No staff member came to ask if everything was okay. Having coffee to finish our table was constantly passed by a waitress who blatantly stared at us. Very off putting( Blond ponytail ) only when it came to paying the bill was we asked if we enjoyed the meal. Voicing our concerns met with a blank smile. Sharpen up your stall and sharpen your knives!
Fred D — Google review
The staff were attentive and great – really can’t fault the service. Unfortunately, the food was quite bland and lacked flavor. Nothing stood out, and honestly, I could make a better roast at home. Disappointing on the taste front.

The Bull Towcester is a charming pub and restaurant with a mix of whitewash and red-brick architecture, featuring a lovely lawned garden. The reduced menu didn't detract from the delicious food, making it an ideal spot for a Sunday lunch. The carvery offers a good selection of meats and vegetables cooked to perfection. While the lack of certain drink options was disappointing, the friendly meat carver added to the positive experience.
First time experience at The Bull. I believe its now under new management and we decided to try the Sunday carvery. We were not disappointed. Friendly staff who explained everything and served with a smile. The food was very generous and very tasty. We will definitely return again for this delicious feast. Carvery is served 7 days a week. It will not disappoint you.

I know they're new to the pub scene but our planned visit for 10 was awful. Lovely people, horrible food and such a lovely room. They forgot we were coming, er hello 10 people, how? We had to arrange the tables and chairs ourselves so we could all sit together. Basically, I'll give it six months and revisit! 👍

The Bull is under new management so we popped in for lunch to check it out. What can I say Chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich was amazing and the chips that came with it were to die for. Highly recommended well worth a visit.

Our hotel restaurant was closed for the evening so headed into Towcester, we had booked and were greeted by a young friendly member of staff who showed us to our table. We were sat next to a wood fired pizza oven and looked over the menu which had something for everyone's taste, I had the prawn and crayfish starter which was presented in a magnificent metal crab 🦀 then followed by the ribs and my wife had the gammon and son the pizza. The ribs were to die for and had definitely been cooked with love, the gammon was extremely tasty and pizza amazing. Homemade chips and onion rings were the crowning jewels on a great meal 😋 not forgetting the sticky toffee pudding with Homemade ice cream. Bill for all this with 5 drinks was under £90 so great value for money.

I love pies 🥰. So when I saw this pub I just had to go in and eat (although to be fair it was time for dinner 😁). Gladly I wasn't disappointed. The Steak and Stilton pie was fantastic, as was the rest of the meal (chips, gravy, peas and a pint). Service and atmosphere were also great. I even left my scarf, ringing the next day and finding out that they had kept it for me. When I collected it in the evening they had neatly folded it for me too - nice little touches like this make all the difference. Thank you. 🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️
