Did not stop long here. Due to a strict time schedule. As such did not get to see much. Out guide said you. Could spend a day there.

Beautiful stretch of beach - it was sunny when we visited, which made it hard to reconcile where we were standing with the scenes we’d seen as part of learning about the D-Day landings. The beach was really clean and quiet, which made it nice for a small moment of reflection on what happened there. My grandfather landed here so it was a really important visit for us as a family.

Lest we forget. A must visit.

For a war museum, it is not well presented from an educational perspective. The many artifacts are somewhat disorganized and displayed without much explanation; many items are not explained at all, which would be especially desirable for posters or other objects. The staff on site spoke only French, not English, but they were well informed about the artifacts when asked.

Very well preserved Bunker from WW2, get to see in every room within bunker, great original memorabilia during this period, allot of stairs and ladder to the roof top machine gun position, great views over the area, well worth a visit.

The bunker is laid out as it was 80yrs ago - visitors can see how did every room look like. Great storytelling, if you are reading comments here you should definitelly go!

The Musée du Mur de l’Atlantique (Le Grand Bunker) in Ouistreham is a fascinating and immersive World War II museum. Housed in an actual German bunker, it showcases five floors of carefully reconstructed rooms from machine rooms to communications centers filled with authentic artifacts, photos, and documents. It’s a place that truly brings history to life. If you’re driving through Normandy or have an interest in bunkers and coastal defenses. This is absolutely worth a stop. One of the highlights is climbing the stairs all the way to the top if you can. the view gives you a real sense of the scale and strategic importance of the Atlantic Wall. Overall, a must-visit for history buffs or anyone curious about this era. Well-organized, engaging and an experience you won’t forget.

This is a restored fire control post turned into a museum. Outside, you'll find the Saving Private Ryan landing craft and a few tanks plus a cannon. Tickets are cheap, they're around 8 Euros. You can climb up to the tower stairs (at your own risk, make sure to accompany your child if you bring them) and enjoy the view of Sword Beach. It has six floors with technical areas, like the engine room and ventilation system, a weapons room, living quarters including dorms and a medical room, a command center with a phone exchange, plus an observatory and a telemetry station. The cashier is very friendly, and there’s a small souvenir shop, where you can buy WW2 themed items. The restrooms are free and you can park around the area for free. For the museum to improve In the future, I've found these mistakes; Grammatical errors, mostly in English. Like instead of winter, there's written wibter. Instead of Wehrmacht, Wehrmarcht. I'm not entirely sure if the Mannequins are accurate. Example; German artillery officer looks like he has orange piping (that's for the Feldgendarmerie), but red piping (Artillery) on his cap. Also, repeating the information over and over again.... Another funny detail: German soldier wearing a gas mask while shooting... And why is there a bald soldier...? Otherwise, OK museum.

A fascinating survivor from World War II and the D-Day landings. The bunker is in remarkable condition, thanks largely to the fact that the German defenders here surrendered without much fuss! It has been lovingly preserved by the French since. The various rooms are filled with displays of weapons, clothing and other gear from the time. Our favourite part was the steep iron ladder which, fitness and agility permitting, can be climbed to access the top of the tower (at your own risk!) for great views of the town and the sea. Price at the time of visiting (October 2025) was €8.50 for adults, with concessions for children. Well worth a visit if you are staying in Ouistreham or have an hour or so to kill before your ferry.

Interesting if somewhat small. Still well worth a visit. Going up on the roof is a must for all who can fit the hole.

Lovely small museum telling the story of the free French who trained to be commandos and fought on D-day. A lot packed into the area with 100's of artifacts. Very good 20 min film documentary. Member of staff very pleasant and put in the extra effort to give us additional information and guidance during our visit.

Well worth a visit to learn about this Commando unit. The woman running it was very friendly and informative about how the small museum was founded. D Day is a huge subject and its worth a deep dive into a small part of it to understand what the troops went through. Don't try to do all the big museums in one trip - do a major one and this one.

Would highly recommend visiting this lovely museum. The lady that worked here was an absolute machine. She would welcome visitors and at regular and welcome intervals would take time to further explain certain aspects. I liked this more than the nearby Grande Bunker museum.

This is one of the best museum along this coast line. The lady who gives the talks is incredible. Her passion and knowledge of each item is to be admired. A definite must!!

Really enjoyed our visit to this small personal museum and the excellent additional stories provided by the curator. She was very enthusiastic and it was much appreciated as the grandson of a British survivor from Gold beach.

Nice resort area with a lot of historical interest. Cafes, restaurants, beach, museums, monuments, casino, leisure activities all combined yo ensure there is something for everyone. Good boardwalk on beach

Beautiful family beach. Wonderful sceneries and plenty of activities to make a great for kids as well. It's safe, clean and well taken care of. Life savers on site.

Beautiful sandy beach. We were lucky to have visited when the Normandy Beach races were on. Lots of places to eat and drink and there's also horse riding and go karting.

Lovely place for a walk ( I was there in Autumn), for play etc. Great beach line. There are even deposit boxes for your belongings.

A beautiful beach, lovely short walk before boarding the Caen-Portsmouth ferry. Dog loved it, but check time of year to go on beach as pooches only allowed on out of summer season.

An absolutely outstanding restaurant, owned by people who truly care about the quality of the food, service and entire experience. If you find yourself in Ouistreham and want an absolute treat this is the restaurant for you. The tasting menu was beautiful, cooked perfectly and easily one of our top 5 meals ever. A menu of all our favourite things presented beautifully, particularly the most amazing Turbot I have had. The owners should be very proud of what they have created here and we can not wait to comeback again next time we are travelling. Thank you for an unforgettable dinner.

Probably the best table I've been to during my two-month trip in France. Excellent food, fine, researched, improbable associations and excellent service. They took hygiene very seriously, which in these times of COVID is greatly appreciated. Thumbs up all the way!

What a find on our last day in France. Popped in for a spot of lunch and had the most supers meal. All of it delicious top quality food beautifully presented by friendly and knowledgeable staff. Perfect end to our holiday.

The food was exceptional. The service was top notch. A gem in the heart of Ouistreham.

Four of us enjoyed a good meal here - which was only marred by some really basic (but serious) mistakes, that we don’t feel were dealt with sufficiently well. Firstly, one of our party was brought the wrong starter - no real problem, it was eventually replaced with the right dish, but that’s not a mistake we’d expect in a restaurant charging these sorts of prices. Three of us sitting waiting to eat whilst our friend had nothing. Two fillet steaks, both ordered rare, were brought out well-done. The waitress had asked, in English, how we’d like them cooked, offering “rare” as an option. We said “yes, rare, thank you”. We established, without any fuss or argument that the poor waitress hadn’t actually understood what she’d offered us, and so the wrong instruction was given to the chef. We were offered new ones, one of which we accepted, the other we just ate anyway. Again, no problem, clearly just a linguistic error - but a pretty basic mistake for a restaurant of this kind. Had we suspected there would be an internal miscommunication, we would just have been sure to order in French. Unfortunately, around one of the steaks we then found a long piece of (cooked) cling film - a much more serious error which was very disappointing. By way of recompense, the three coffees we ordered were removed from the bill. Fair enough, but not really the level of gesture one would expect for the sorts of experience we had. One, or both, of the steaks should probably have been offered at no cost, at a minimum. Generally the food was very good, the service was very friendly and pleasant, if error-strewn. One can’t help feeling that were we locals, who the restaurant might hope return one day, we might have been treated differently.

Whenever we’re in Ouistreham, there’s only one restaurant we choose: La Voile Blanche. Its perfect location makes it ideal for a meal before boarding the Brittany Ferries. With beautiful views over the beach and sea, excellent food at very reasonable prices, and friendly service, it never disappoints. Well done to the Voile Blanche team – you always make our lunch a real treat!

Came here for an evening meal on Monday evening as it was one of the only places open. Lovely position close to beach, but unfortunately the view is spoilt by another building in front of it. Very formal service, with limited English. A good choice of food and wine but quite expensive. The quality of the food was good, not great and not a big quantity of food or wine. Overall a good experience but not cheap.

Very good restaurant. Friendly staff, good vibes and delicious food. The dessert was one of the best things i've ever had, not too 'sugary' yet so good. The tomato burrata was very original as well. We were a team and they had a menu printed specifically for us and we really appreciated that.

Reasonable food for a reasonable price. Very quick service in a very busy environment, perfect for us, as we were waiting for our ferry, but not somewhere I would necessarily choose for a relaxing meal. The staff were lovely, and it was overall pleasant

What a fantastic restaurant we queued up and got seated quickly. We had a lovely lady look after us. The menu was great and I had the foi gras to start followed by the entrecote with a cheese sauce shame they didn't have pepper sauce and vinegar. But apart from that great chips and the steak was delicious. I have to mention the fish and chips. The fish was so fresh and so we'll cooked it's probably the best fish I have ever had. I picked a normandy desert which came out as a sundae it was amazing and partnered up with one of the best Irish coffees ever you have to try one. If your in the area it's well worth a visit.

Absolutely shocking service. Partner asked for well done for his steak ash and it came out RAW. Food came far too fast for it to even be cooked right. Complained and the attitude was so bad trying to say we ordered it wrong. Won’t be attending again.

Very nice staff, good food. Kids friendly. Superb location. What could you ask more after a windy walk on the beach. There is a playground for kids, very smart. Don't think twice if you are hungry with hungry kids:-)

The good is not very good, but also not very bad. What you'd expect. Service staff are very friendly and you are service very quickly, which I'd wager is a positive at the beach.

What a little gem!! We just had a lovely meal. Chicken supreme and a flank steak followed with creme brulee and pavlova and a couple of pints each. Lovely staff friendly and helpful. Just what we needed

This place is just the right place to be. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Food is tasty, plentiful & well priced. The location is the best in Ouistreham. The ambience is wonderful. Anyone who complains must have got out of the wrong side of bed this morning. We stay for a couple of nights each summer & this is where we eat - anywhere else is a compromise.

We stopped on the way to the port at Cherborg. Traditional French food with great value. Not much English spoken but menu reasonably clear. The fish 🐟 was lovely as was the frites and the salad 🥗. The steak was to die for in a wonderful sauce 😋.

Found this little restaurant by chance. Delightful friendly and helpful service. Great Normandy cooking - see bass & scallops perfectly cooked with a delightful vegetable risotto on piping hot plates - excellent! Highly recommended and we'll definitely be back.

Superbe meal, lovely flavours. We chose to have the wines recommended with each course and they were very very good. The service was friendly and efficient. The food here was good. We stopped for dinner before we got on the ferry but it was a really nice meal at a sensible price. It wasn't the fastest service but equally wasn't slow. The staff were really helpful with my wife's allergies and even ended up quickly remaking a part of hers as they'd accidentally added some butter to it. All in all it was a really nice meal if not quite as fast as we'd have liked as we were getting on the ferry after.

High quality food and good value. Beautiful Leffe Blonde at a very reasonable price, service excellent and attentive. Restaurant was very quiet when we visited, however the atmosphere seated outside was good, a little live music drifting across the street and a little of that French street cafe vibe. Would definitely return.

Cannot understand the bad critiques. Food was solid, price very good, service very friendly. Toilets and cocktails could be improved, but that’s it.

Funny place to have lunch. Serving frozen fish whilst being located in a harbor. There was soy sauce on my salad. Guy serving us was quite funny. Would definitely not recommend, carrefour is quite close and would serve you better.

Our waiter was excellent- rushed off his feet but spent time with each customer to make them feel welcome. He even entertained my partner trying to practice his French! I hope you appreciate his skills! Mixed grill & pizza both enjoyable too.
