Le Cannet

Charming, hilly Le Cannet is centered around bustling Boulevard Carnot, with its elegant Belle Époque and art deco mansions. Side streets lined with delis and boutiques draw hip crowds who linger in open-air bistros and bars. Musée Bonnard displays works by post-Impressionist painter Pierre Bonnard, and the facade of the Chapelle du St.-Sauveur is decorated with frescoes by Expressionist artist Théo Tobiasse.

Art museum
Located in a charming Belle Epoque mansion, Musée Bonnard is a tribute to the renowned French artist Pierre Bonnard. It is the only museum in the world dedicated to him and showcases his works from when he lived in Le Cannet. The museum also features pieces by his contemporaries, offering insight into art during the early 1900s. Visitors can explore the gallery's small but delightful collection and even purchase souvenirs at its gift shop.
Very interesting architecture in both cases the old part is very interesting, and the new addition is very interesting, and the new . We had lovely time.

The Musée Bonnard, located in Le Cannet, France, is dedicated to the works of the renowned French painter Pierre Bonnard, who was a leading figure in the Post-Impressionist movement. The museum is situated in a charming building that offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area, reflecting the light and colors that influenced Bonnard's artwork. Opened in 2011, the museum houses a significant collection of Bonnard's paintings, drawings, and prints, showcasing his distinctive style characterized by vibrant colors, intimate scenes, and an innovative approach to light. The collection includes works from various periods of his career, allowing visitors to appreciate his artistic evolution and the themes he explored, such as domestic life, landscapes, and still lifes. In addition to its permanent collection, the Musée Bonnard hosts temporary exhibitions featuring works by Bonnard and other artists, as well as educational programs and workshops that engage visitors in the world of art. The museum's serene atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it an excellent destination for art lovers and anyone interested in the life and work of Pierre Bonnard. If you have any specific questions about the museum or its exhibitions, feel free to ask!

Quite disappointed, the current exhibition has about 40-50 paintings by like 10 (!) different artists which fail to "paint" as complete picture. Museums usually have permanent exhibitions and temporary ones and this one only has a temporary one so you can imagine our disappointment to visit a Bonnard museum with only 3 or 4 paintings by him. No English text, only interesting part was the film about Bonnard in the end but this was only in French. Please add atleast English subtitles to it for your international visitors. I don't recommend visiting during the current exhibition until November.
Kevin K — Google review
Really love this museum. Must be my 4th or 5th visit. The only downside is that there aren't that many paintings on view so the visits are quite short. There could be more...in my opinion. But a very pleasant building. Converted traditional house conserving some of the old features...staircases etc.....not Bonnard s house though.
Tracey K — Google review
Great small museum in beautiful location on the outskirts of Cannes. I love the current exhibition of posters by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901), which have come to symbolize the Belle Epoque. The only disappointment was the absence of any paintings by the namesake Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947).

Great museum, small but worth it!

Beautiful, small museum. Nice exhibition. I wish they had descriptions and video subtitles in english. Now it’s only understandable for French people or people already aware of the topic. If it was more available to english speakers it would be 5/5.

Île Sainte-Marguerite is a charming small island located just a ferry ride away from Cannes. It boasts beautiful beaches and an ancient fort, offering stunning views of the French Riviera. The island is also home to La Guerite, a renowned establishment since 1902, where visitors can enjoy exquisite dining experiences surrounded by lush Aleppo pine and eucalyptus trees.
A great one-day trip destination. A stroll around the island will take you a couple of hours. Highly recommended it outside of high tourist season.

Very nice beaches and if you like to walk around the whole island you will find some very nice spots. Food in one of the two places available was very good.

Pretty place, expect lots of hiking. There are loads of small beaches but they get busy really quickly, I spent the whole day there but I reckon 4/5 hours would be more than enough.
Cassandra — Google review
Beautiful island for a day trip or half day trip. Easy to get the 15 minute ferry from Cannes. There are nice walks around the island and beautiful swimming spots with crystal clear waters. Perfect place to take a picnic, relax and enjoy the views. There are a couple of food vendors for snacks and drinks. Also check out the diving / snorkeling spot with underwater statues. The area is on the opposite side of the island to the boat port. Cool experience, swimming out to find the 6 underwater statues/sculptures.

Île Sainte Marguerite is a fifteen-minute boat ride from Cannes. You can pick up your tickets directly on the quayside. The crossing is rather quiet. The island also depends on whether it's high or low season. It's clean and the landscape is well preserved. The boats come and go frequently. And the average return fare is less than €20, depending on whether you buy online or in the stalls. Buying on the spot seems cheaper.
Chérie A — Google review
Île Sainte-Marguerite is a natural temple, breathtaking and unique. Unfortunately, some people ruin it by parking their boats just 10 meters from the shore — something both illegal and dangerous, for swimmers and for the fragile marine environment. I expected to see the coast guard enforcing the rules, but this is Cannes: if you’re wealthy, it seems you can do whatever you want, and the local administration turns a blind eye. Sadly, the damage is already visible — much of the underwater algae is dead. A paradise like this deserves real protection, not neglect.
Simone C — Google review
A beautiful and peaceful island near Cannes, known for its crystal-clear beaches and stunning sea views. Easily accessible by ferry, it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy both nature and history. Highly recommended! 🌊🌿
Our_Discoveries5 — Google review
I visited Île Sainte-Marguerite during my trip to Cannes, and it was such a peaceful and refreshing experience. The island is surrounded by crystal-clear blue water and has beautiful walking trails through pine trees. You can visit the old fort, enjoy the sea views, or simply sit and relax by the shore. It’s quiet, clean, and perfect for nature lovers. There are limited food options, so it’s good to carry some water and snacks. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a calm and scenic escape from the city!

One of the most beautiful cities in Europe that I have visited. It really exudes unusual beauty and romance. The buildings are beautiful and I really like that kind of architecture. Along the coast of Cannes, there are beaches along almost the entire length. They are very clean and it is a real pleasure to swim. Lots of restaurants for every taste and pocket. And of course La Croisette! Beautiful! I will be happy to visit Cannes again!

Popularly known as Palais des Festivals et des Congres", La Croisette is about 22 km long promenade in Cannes along the shore of the Mediterranean Sea where the Cannes Film Festival is held. There is a sidewalk with hotels, casinos, brand stores, a rose garden and places with lots of shady trees where families meet and spend their quality time. There are interesting places around this place to stroll and explore. If you are falling short of time or do not have energy for a walk, then one can enjoy a small touristic city train tour to explore the nearby area. The place is dynamic with lots of hustle bustle of the tourists and locals. The evening sunsets and the night illuminations and combined with festive fireworks make this place truly romantic and mesmerizing. A must to visit when you are in France.

Nestled in the charming town of Le Cannet, Le Bistrot Des Anges - Bastide Bruno Oger offers a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of French cuisine. This inviting bistro features a cozy atmosphere complemented by outdoor seating, making it perfect for enjoying meals al fresco. The menu boasts an array of gourmet burgers and traditional dishes, all crafted with fresh ingredients to tantalize your taste buds.
Great food, recommend the dessert cart’s baba. One of my favourite places so far to dine in France and definitely worth coming back again. 😁

Come for the food & not the service. We received a warm reception and then the service went down hill from there. As a point of mention, not once did they assist with the bottle of wine after the initial pour. The food on the other hand was delicious and artfully prepared. The desserts, from their pastry cart, were on another level, not to mention the variety they offered. A nice restaurant to enjoy when you’re in the area. And there’s ample parking which is a bonus.

The best restaurant experience in France so far. Amazing, kind, light and humoristic service. Most delicious fish of the day with fennel, fresh artichoke and beurre blanc. Fingerlicking good desserts. And an extra plus for all the dessert types they have on display in the tray, great touch.
NV — Google review
“How was your meal?” We were asked. “A disappointment” would be the frank truth. Some of that stemmed from choices apparently made by the chef-patron. There’s no one to welcome you when you arrive- no maitre d to be seen. Instead waiting staff take a hurried moment to show you to a table, before dashing back to service- didn’t feel like a great start. The tables are fairly close together outside (which I don’t grudge at all). The bread rolls, though brown, were very unexceptional. And as we were about to start eating, our neighbour began smoking. Something doesn’t square here: the chef’s serious about his food, so serious he names his restaurants after himself, but he’ll let clients ruin others’ taste with a fag blown over the meal. Maybe that was appropriate once- but I’d say those days have passed. If people must smoke, it should be away from other diners. So we went inside, and were blasted by a curated play list- not quiet jazz to add ambience, or chanson, or nothing- but AI covers with thumping disco beats. Again, didn’t fit with the self importance of the setting. Frankly we were impatient to leave. But we were more impatient to see the celebrated sweet trolley- bit of a surprise too. Not dessert as expected, but passable patisserie, served alone. A piece of tart, for example, or a chocolate cake. But not at a constructed dish with, say, cake, fruit, ice. The main course=entree was good. The starters were so refined they were not as tasty as we like. But the rest of the experience was off- not because the waiters seemed tired (though they did), not because the wrong dish was brought once ( that didn’t matter), but because the chef’s decisions feel ready for review….

Great delicious food. The dish of the day (Salmon with avocado) was not as good as the fish dish. The cheesecake was very good.

Fine dining in a Bistro with a great selection of delicious dishes. Chef Bruno Oger takes it to another level so you don't really need to visit his two star Michelin restaurant next door if you don't want to.

Just excellent! Everything was beyond 5* (the bib gourmand label did not dissapoint) - from rigatoni with lobster sauce and truffles to ox cheeks w. buttery mashed potatos. Also, they have the most insane dessert wagon (i have never experienced anything like this) with around 10 different cakes, which you can just choose from. All of them was out of this world. This was our first visit, but definetly not our last. See you very, very soon!

L'Ondine & Vilebrequin La Plage is a chic beach club in Cannes offering cocktails, DJ music, and bistro-style dishes. Located on the fashionable Rue d'Antibes, it's surrounded by luxury and high street brands for shopping. The staff is known for their impressive marine-themed outfits and friendly service. Despite its reputation, the prices are not as high as one might expect. It's a great spot for brunch with excellent service and delicious beach food.
The atmosphere was unbelievable. Charlotte our server was so friendly and helpful. She tried to do everything she could to make it comfortable as we don’t speak the language. Her English helped us through the meal and made us feel special. We spent the rest of the afternoon on beach chairs, basking in the sun, looking at the Mediterranean and the yachts. There is nothing like it.

We'd booked sunbeds and lunch here. Had a lovely day but it is expensive (as expected), lunch was good, salads were large & tasty. But 2 salads, 1 bottle of wine, 1 Aperol, water + 2 sunloungers = 300 euro's.
Joanne M — Google review
We came here for lunch and ordered an avocado crab starter, a grilled lobster with ratatouille, and cocktails. It took 30 minutes to receive our starter, and then another hour went by before our lobster arrived, which should have taken only a few minutes to prepare. The restaurant was not fully occupied, so the slow service was unacceptable. The managers and waitstaff showed a complete lack of awareness. After we finally received the bill—along with an "apology glass of champagne," which also took another 20 minutes—I ended up refusing it. There are plenty of similar places nearby, and I highly recommend checking them out instead.

Bistro Saint Sauveur is a must-visit in Cannet, boasting a charming exterior that invites you into a contemporary setting with black tables and white curtains. The restaurant is known for its delectable meats and wines, with the head chef creating mouthwatering dishes featuring meat and fish alongside gratins, mille-feuilles, purees, and locally sourced vegetables. The wine selection is impressive, curated by an enthusiastic owner who provides excellent recommendations.
This was our favorite meal on our France trip. We started with excellent homemade charcuterie from the owner Jason, who is a trained butcher. The steak was amazing, as were the desserts made by Manon. Great selection of wine. Very easy to get to if you’re traveling from the center of Cannes - only a 10 minute Uber ride. Le Cannet is such a quaint area with cute bars and a beautiful view of Cannes. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back.

This restaurant reopened a year ago with new owners who are focusing on quality meats. Its lunch menu is a great value with creative variations on classics such as beef tartare and burgers with pulled beef. The fish of the day was excellent with a touch of Asian flavors. We wish they would offer "pain de campagne" in addition to the plain French bread. Also my portion of the creme brulee was small and it was lukewarm. Overall, we would definitively recommend Bistro St Saveur. Don't forget to make reservations.

Restaurant MEAT is a charming local eatery located in the heart of Cannes' old town. The restaurant offers good quality and fresh meat, with dishes like beef tartare and angus beef steak receiving high praise. While some guests experienced long waiting times during peak hours, early reservations are recommended to avoid this issue. The set menu, priced at 31 euros, is considered a great value for money and includes delectable options such as scallops and swordfish.
We had a wonderful dining experience at this very nice restaurant, where the service was excellent and the atmosphere cozy. We opted for the meal deal, which included a starter, main course, and dessert for only 35 EUR—a fantastic value! The portions were generous, and the quality of the food was overall quite impressive. Quality of Food: -------------------------- For the main course, I ordered my dish well done, and it was perfectly tender yet still juicy. The mushroom sauce added a rich flavor that complemented the meal beautifully. However, I was disappointed with the fries; they were overcooked, brownish, and didn’t taste as good as expected. Despite this, the overall quality of the food more than made up for this minor issue. The dessert was a highlight of the meal. The menu offered more than 10 choices, which was a bit overwhelming, but I settled on the cheesecake, and it turned out to be the perfect choice—absolutely delicious! As for the starter, I chose the marinated mussels (called "moules" in French). They were above average, though not outstanding, and I felt they could have been better. Next time, I’ll try the scallops instead; they looked amazing when the table next to us ordered them. Atmosphere: -------------------- The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with a vintage or old-fashioned charm. The dim lighting added to the ambiance, reminiscent of an old living room or perhaps an old tavern. It’s a place where you can relax and enjoy your meal in a comfortable, intimate setting. Overall: ------------- It was a perfect deal, with generous portions and mostly excellent food. The minor issues with the fries and the mussels didn’t detract from the overall experience, and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. The pictures will speak for themselves!

Outstanding value for such a lovely restaurant. We had the set menu 35 euro's and what a surprise!! Quite a selection of starters and main courses. We had - Oysters x 6 which were excellent Then an excellent Rib Eye steak with fries and a pepercorrn sauce. We declined the desert as we were to FULL !! And Everything for just 35 Euro's The prices of drinks were not expensive. and a good selection of wines.

A tourist trap. Horrible oysters. Overcooked swordfish. Mediocre wines.

Awfull long wait, waited for starters while the neighboring tables already got their starters and main course served. Kept being told that the foods coming, 1 and a half hour later we finally got our starters. The food was really good in the end. Don't come here with a group bigger of 4, apparently the kitchen cannot handle that.

So positive and nice atmosphere in this place. Of course you have to pay for it, but I have visited to many Michelin restaurants even with 3 stars , but this 2 stars Michelin restaurant deserves to have 3 stars totally ! Dinner for 2 without wine is around thousand. The chef was visiting each table in the end. Each food had a unique flavour and a lot effort was put into making. Thank you Bruno Oger and your team for our nice evening in May ❤️🇫🇷

A decade has passed since my last visit to this establishment, and remarkably, some elements remain steadfast. The culinary creations continue to astonish and delight, characterized by their inventive flair and exquisite flavors that linger on the palate. However, the service retains its signature brusqueness, a stark contrast to the artistry unfolding in the kitchen. This juxtaposition between the sublime dishes and the abrupt service creates a unique dining experience that is unforgettable, if not entirely comfortable.

This 2 star Michelin restaurant is my new fav restaurant worldwide. If staying in Nice, Caan or anywhere near this restaurant - it is a MUST go. The food was exceptional and very unique. Chef Bruno is very talented and creative. The menu changes but I would recommend the 5 course tasting menu. Plenty of food. I would also suggest the wine pairing which complimented the experience perfectly. The setting is an old house and we sat outside which made the ambiance over the top.

Exploring La Cannet and enjoyed a lovely lunch at Villa Archange by Bruno Oger. Lunch was alfresco in their courtyard with massive trees providing shade and a light breeze. There was amble parking onsite. The meal was such a treat for us – before we even had the menus, we had a delight of treats to tempt the palate. We ordered their 5 course lunch which although good, will be filling. From langostines to the veal – every dish was a lovely culinary journey. Some tastes are pleasingly familiar (i.e. a curry foam over seafood) yet a refreshing twist or dimension can always be found. Every course made you close your eyes and savour as your tastebuds danced. Service was excellent with all waiters helpful and unobtrusive, fluent English speakers which helps us, and eager to help for anything you need (including asking where to visit in the city centre and where to park!!). Finally, we met the chef himself and what a treat to chat with him – he told us of the history of the location (it was abandoned for 30 years before they took it over and transformed it into the lovely restaurant it is today) and came back twice to check on our meal. True pride and joy in his restaurant, his team, and his cooking. Such a lovely experience and next time we come back, we will also pop into the Bistro for a meal!

Hands down the best restaurant meal I have ever eaten. Mind you, I rarely get the opportunity to dine in a Michelin starred restaurant and have only been to half a dozen. Everything about the experience was superb. Minor quibble- the steep walk uphill and down on the driveway from the restaurant was difficult for my wife, who had on leather sole flats which slipped. She would have fallen if I had not been holding her hand. Upon arrival at the Villa, from the moment we were greeted by the Maitre d’Hotel we were comfortably. There were only 11 tables on the terrace, well spaced and a wait staff of 5. They were very attentive but not intrusive. The patron stopped at our table to welcome us and then before being offered a menu, we received complimentary hors d’oeuvres which set the tone for the rest of the evening. The presentation, texture and flavors of this painstakingly prepared small morsels were superb. We chose the 9 course “surprise” menu, each course perfectly prepared and plated and with bursting flavors. The only food disappointments were the voilaille (chicken) course which seemed undercooked. Definitely not in the same league as the other 8 courses. Our favorites were the langoustine and bar (Mediterranean sea bass) courses. All of the courses were imaginative with delicate flavors and textures. We cannot comment on wine pairings since we don’t drink. The end to a perfect evening- mint tea and a gift box from le patron. This is the type of meal I can only dream about all year until we return to the Côte d’Azur. One you have appreciated a meal such as this, everything else pales in comparison. Thank you M. Oger
