Cala Torta is a serene beach nestled amidst small cliffs and wild nature, offering a laid-back atmosphere for swimming and sunbathing. Located near Cala Mesquida Beach, this spot is beloved by locals for its brilliant white sands and gentle hills. Accessible by foot from the unmade road or via a scenic hike from Cala Mesquida, the beach boasts just one bar and restricted car access to preserve its fragile ecosystem.
Beautiful beach, 1.4 km down the broken road from where you can park your car. Decent shoes are a good idea, sandals were ok. Bring plenty of water. It took us around 15 minutes to get down to the beach and around 16 to get back up, but I sure felt the way up a lot more. Parts of the beach are fairly steep, so it might be a good idea not to bring your younger kids here. But it's definitely worth the trip.

It’s about 15’ from Artà by car. You should leave your car around 1-1,5km from the beach. It is not allowed (and even dangerous) to go further by car. The beach is quiet, calm, there is not a lot of people. I don’t recommend to go there on wheelchair or with little baby stroller.
Anna S — Google review
Very nice and secluded beach. Very few people, but there is a 20-30 minute walk. There is a path also from the next beach.
Mihail T — Google review
Cala Torta is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve earned the experience. The beach is absolutely stunning, crystal-clear turquoise water, surrounded by rocky cliffs and wild nature. No buildings, no bars, no restaurants, almost untouched beauty. It feels remote, raw, and peaceful. To get there, you’ll need to walk about 1.5 km on a trail that’s not well-marked and a bit uneven, with a gentle uphill on the way back. It’s not super difficult, but definitely something to be aware of, especially in the summer heat. On the plus side, the effort helps keep the crowds away, even during high season. There’s a small food truck/restaurant right before the trail begins, it’s your last chance to grab food or drinks, so stock up if you plan to stay for a while. The walk itself is scenic, with beautiful views of the coastline as you approach the cala. If you’re up for the short adventure, Cala Torta will reward you with one of the most beautiful and peaceful beach experiences in Mallorca. Highly recommend!
Andrea A — Google review
A 20-30 minute walk down a hill to reach the beach. Not too crowded, but not as empty as the reviews make it seem either. I guess it’s gotten popular. There’s no cell phone service. The road you walk on to reach the beach seems to have been asphalted before but it’s just broken down and ruined, which is why no cars are allowed on it. The end of the road, right before the beach is like going through a forest. There was a sign that there are strong currents and that the beach is a dangerous zone with high risk of drowning, and that the beach is not watched. While we were there, there was a lifeguard with an emergency vehicle, so the sign might be old. The lifeguard showed up a bit later though (around 11h maybe), so if you go earlier, keep in might that there might not be anyone to help in the case of an emergency. The water was nice, lots of algae though. I guess it depends on the season. It wasn’t my favorite beach, but it was a nice little adventure to get there. Sneakers are better than flip flops, but both work.

Quite beautifil beach in the midst of a marvellous rock coast landscape. Great for hiking around.
Benedikt S — Google review
Did not meet my expectations based on the many reviews I read. It’s a natural setting, but not extraordinary. Moderate seaweed mixed with sand in the shallows. Long hike to get there, uphill on the way back. Then discovered a thief had broken our car window and made off with some of our belongings, including a computer and iPad, so be careful. (We actually tracked him down in his apartment an hour away in Palma using Apple’s “Find My” function and with the help of his neighbors got most of the stuff back.)
Sam F — Google review
What an incredible beach! You can't reach it by vehicle; instead, you need to walk down a 1.2km path along a very old and rough road. The hike back up the cliff can be challenging, but I found the experience enjoyable. Though small, the beach is stunningly beautiful. Remember to bring an umbrella and plenty of food and drinks, as there are no facilities down there, except for a local selling water and fruit. The water is crystal clear. While there was a jellyfish warning and some tourists cautioned us, I spent my time swimming and fortunately didn’t encounter any. I highly recommend visiting—it’s definitely worth the effort.

Church
Sights & Landmarks
Santuari de Sant Salvador, located in the picturesque town of Arta, is a historic fortress and chapel perched atop a hill. The walled enclosure of Almudaina d'Arta expanded with new streets and squares at the foot of Sant Salvador hill. Dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries, this Moorish-looking fortress offers stunning views of the town and verdant countryside.
I went there on another excursion, with TUI tours, a full day - I got to roam the market, walk through the square and up to the church - Marcelle (driver) & Gabriel (guide) were great so thank you both for a very enjoyable day.
Laura H — Google review
Very nice fortified church on the top of a small city. Make sure you park behind the hill so you can take a nice walk, up to the castle. There is no entry fee. You can visit the church ( Transfiguracion del Senyor ) or just admire the view from the towers. The colours of sunset were amazing. If you enter from the back gate you will walk down the stairs which leads you directly to the Santa Maria D`Arta church ( unfortunatly it was closed already when we visited ).
Alice V — Google review
Nice late-medieval castle walls with great views to the town of Arta and a nice café/restaurant if you want to relax. The museum and the church of the town are nearby, so it worths the 3' walk to the top to experience it!
Chris G — Google review
We only visited the courtyard. We liked the church of Santa Maria d'Arta a little more. At the time we were in the process of reconstructing the staircase, otherwise these buildings can be reached by stairs and you don't have to go around on the road. Unfortunately, there are only public toilets in the castle.
Tereza K — Google review
Amazing place to visit, beautiful views and plenty of history. I didn’t go into the buildings but walked around and read the information. A nice little cafe is at the top to relax and recover from the walk.
Justin H — Google review
Stunning church fortified by nine little towers connected through a wall. There's even a small bistro in the yard where you can grab some drinks or eat some cake and hot dishes. It's located on a mountain peak therefore you gotta climb some stairs if you're walking from the direction of the town Arta. Another possibility of accessing this wonderful location is by car. A few meters beneath the church there's a parking lot located.
Maximilian G — Google review
Absolutely scenic and therapeutic views from atop! Approximately 355 steps / 8 minutes stroll up:) the area is kept litter-free and even has a curious cat resident! Worthy steps up, family-friendly kid-friendly. If you need a break from the steps, the rocks on both sides of the steps close to the peak could offer a brief respite.
Laila H — Google review
This is a nice place to do on a morning. Best to combine with a visit to Arya’s week market on Tuesday. The view from the castellos’ walls over the plains is great and worth a little hike. On your way up using the stairway behind the church, you will see lots of cats chilling in the morning.

Nature & Parks
Nestled about an hour's drive from Alcudia, the Parc Natural de la Península de Llevant is a hiker's paradise that boasts stunning coastal cliffs, lush pine forests, and expansive heathland. This natural haven is teeming with wildlife, including hedgehogs and the elusive Black Vulture.
This was a beautiful hike. If you want an enjoyable 90 min loop this was perfect. We did trail 10, it was rated a 2 difficulty on the map. It was loose rock and dirt. Some spots were steeper than others but doable with running shoes. You start and end back at the parking lot. The trail was very well marked and looks out over the water once you get to top. The view was well worth the walk one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever experienced in my life. You can also detour just before the top to view a church. We stayed in Alcúdia - it was a 50min drive down the coast, wide highway and smooth. Once you get to the Alta it becomes very narrow. We had an SUV that was not ideal but we were able to get through. The rest of the drive is also on narrow roads and lots of bikers but a pretty drive. You will continue to follow the signs to the trail. There is a parking lot at the end. Highly recommend going to this area!! The map in the pictures shows you all the routes they have displayed in the parking lot. It is free.

Beautiful large nature reserve with different hiking routes. Great for bird watching. Make sure to take enough water and snacks and eventually a hat. The longest route( + 3 hours) leads to a remote beach
Katharina H — Google review
The car park from the beach here is very far, so if it's that you are aiming for, just go to another one. Mistakenly parked here and a journey of 7 hour walk through the day began to reach the sea. Amazing walk though into the wild, so if you are looking for that, it's a great spot to start. You can find the map at the start, but be carefull along the way, you can miss a pathway very easily.

Great views and challenging walks. Torrent de Mazdoc was especially challenging.
Amandio Q — Google review
There are many routes for hiking . The views are nice and routes well done . However , there not many indications . If you need to sleep on the way, there are “refuges”, which we better to book online

Well marked hiking trails. Car park, info centre, toilets. No charge. Some trails more shaded, but was baking hot on the concrete roads

Sights & Landmarks
Ses Paisses is an impressive archaeological site located just outside Arta in Mallorca. It is one of the island's best-preserved prehistoric talayotic villages, dating back to around 850 BCE. The ruins cover an area of over 13,000m2 and include a large protected wall with a cyclopean portal and various buildings surrounding a central structure.
Lovely place found when randomly cruising throught Mallorca. Recommend going there to dive a little bjt into the history of Mallorca. Ticket was 2 EUR. Also offers a restroom.
Tom J — Google review
Nice small archeological park near Artà. There are informative shields which explain the place and the talaiotic culture. Much shadow. The entrance costs 4€ (April 2025). Perfect to combine with other sightseeings of Artà: the sanctuary uphill, the old town and the cave.
Tatiana — Google review
Amazing place! Recommend the visit. However, the municipal employee working there (24/9/25 at the end of the day) was not capable of providing any useful information about the site and was quite rude, the only information given at our 4h arrival (with a bad temper) was "we close the gates at 5h, with or without you inside". Pre-historic employee in a pre-historic monument.
Manuel P — Google review
You simply can’t forgo this archeological site while visiting Northeast Mallorca. It was amazing to not only learn about ancient Mallorca history, but see firsthand the remains from cultures and time periods unique to the island. I would recommend visiting with an expert guide so you can truly get the full experience.
Anna M — Google review
I see that six months ago the entrance fee was €2, which seemed reasonable given how small the site is. I went there today, and it’s now €4. Way too expensive for what there is to see — I do not recommend it.

Located just 300m outside of Arta, Ses Païsses is one of the largest, most important and well preserved archaeological site in Mallorca. This talayotic settlements dates back to about 850 years BC (Bronze age, over 3,000 years old) and covers an area of more then 13,000m2. A large protected wall containing its cyclopean portal, in the interior area are various buildings build around a central structure. There is parking available, the entrance fee is currently €2 per person, there are toilet facilities, the ticket kiosk sells drinks and beer and there is picnic are with tables and benches right of the entrance.

A very interesting place of the Talaiotic Culture. It offers good descriptions and is definitely a landmark worth visiting. In my opinion even more so in comparison to other Talaiotic places like Capocorp Vell or els Antigors. If you only plan to visit one of the Talaiotic archaeological sites, go to Ses Païsses.

Mediterranean restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque town of Arta, Restaurant Es Taronger offers a delightful escape into the world of Mediterranean cuisine. As the sun sets and the warm hues of twilight envelop the area, this charming eatery beckons with its inviting atmosphere. Guests can indulge in a variety of delectable dishes that showcase local flavors and fresh ingredients.
I arrived in Mallorca today and reached the town of Arta. My wife wanted to eat paella, so while searching, we found and visited this restaurant. We ordered sangria, octopus, and seafood paella. I've never experienced such a taste in my life. It's unbelievably delicious. If anyone visiting this town is considering a restaurant, do not hesitate. You will not regret it.

Yeah no... tourist Restaurant... the food is ok/good... The location is nice to sit outside, inside I did not think it was really cozy. The Service, ok... nothing wow/super attentive or warm/friendly... dont get me wrong, they are not rude. What surprises me a lot, the menu in spanish and german/english has different words for mushrooms... it was with one of the chicken meals. Very confusing that the spanish menu used a complete other word that does not mean mushroom, should check the menu again.

Food was good with lots of options. Very friendly service. Unfortunately they kept forgetting us. Probably would’ve stayed longer and had a few more drinks if they had been more attentive post dinner.

One of the best fried baby squids I have ever had. Price/Performance is also very high, service and everything was amazing. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of baby squids but chicken breast was also good and juicy.

The food was absolutely gorgeous, easily the best food we have had all holiday and so reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and welcoming and lovely atmosphere sat outside. Also the dessert was delicious !

Visited while we were on holiday. Very welcoming of tourists, but equally had locals dining/drinking. Ordered 6 different tapas dishes and all of the food was superb, couldn’t find a single fault. Tapas looked/tasted very traditional which was great. Reasonable prices as well and great service.

We are a young Aussie couple! 10/10 resteraunt! We were welcomed very warmly by Miguel and his staff. They were so lovely. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Large portions, spoilt for choice on the menu! The atmosphere was great too.

Excellent food and service! We were staying in the area for a week, and dined there three times! Filet of beef with fig and mango sauce was delicious. Also the sole, and the shrimp in garlic oil were wonderful. Amazing frozen dessert loaded with almonds and chocolate sauce. Located near the town square in Artá, and there’s a parking lot within walking distance.

Cafeteria

Shrine
Restaurant Cafeteria Sant Salvador is located in the picturesque town of Artà, surrounded by medieval towers, cafes, and boutiques. The restaurant offers beautiful views of the castle of Arta and the parish church Sant Salvador from its lovely terrace. It is a family-owned business known for serving delicious mixed paella with generous portions of seafood, meat, and vegetables. The atmosphere is bustling with locals enjoying their meals. While the waitstaff may have limited English skills, they provide pleasant and quick service.
We arrived at 1330 on Saturday and chose the mixed paella. It was the most delicious paella I have ever eaten. Full of seafood and mixed meat and vegetables. The portions were huge. The beer was ice cold, served in frozen glasses. It is a family business, the owner was friendly and we chatted to the daughter, who served us. The mother is the cook. Everyone in the restaurant was eating paella...I can see why! Full of locals. This meal was the HIGHLIGHT of my holiday. I wish the owners well. Thank you for making us so welcome.

Service was horrible. It was beautiful outside, but the tables were a little bit wet. I asked for something to dry it out, and he had a hard time giving me one napkin. Too complicated he said. It also smelled like fish inside. At 3h30 pm he threw me out saying they were closing.
Meleena G — Google review
A very simple cafe. Nothing fancy but one of the best paellas we’ve had. You must order 1 day in advance. Very affordable and delicious.
Lynda M — Google review
Lovely cafe in a beautiful spot. Very grumpy gentleman serving who did a lot of shouting about only accepting cash because the Internet not working. After 5 minutes of shouting he used his card machine which worked perfectly. I wonder if this is part of the anti-tourism sentiment in Mallorca at the moment, or possibly cash is better for tax purposes... who knows. Either way it spoiled an otherwise good visit. He 'politely' suggests that customers should enquire as to whether a place takes cash or card in every outlet. Every one we've been to so far accepts card so it seems to me it would be better that if his equipment / Internet service is broken he should put a 'cash only' sign up. Needless to say this suggestion didn't go down well.

First impressions can be deceiving! I had a tuna pizza which was way better than expected. Not to mention the cold beer!
Stefan H — Google review
Found this little castle or church by accident. It’s a self serve kiosk but really nice. Prices are good and a walk around the church has many scenic views to offer
Dan B — Google review
We could not even try this restaurant. We came, they saw us, didn't greet us. It was a Sunday in September at about 2-3PM, we were just coming back from the beach and we were starving. We could have just taken a piece of cake with a bottle of water to take away and be served in 2min. But apparently this was to difficult to do for the staff because the restaurant was already full. (Even if they did take the time to serve some beers to other customers at the bar). In such case, please inform people directly that the restaurant is full and closed for new customers. Don't make them wait for 10 min for nothing and please be more polite when you reply to them (especially when they make the effort to speak in the local language).

Majorcan restaurant
Restaurante Finca Es Serral is a charming eatery situated in the depths of a valley in Arta. This establishment specializes in authentic Majorcan cuisine and locally produced wines, all enjoyed amidst the beauty of nature. The restaurant operates on specific hours, being closed on Mondays and during Sunday lunchtime. Visitors can expect warm and welcoming service from the staff, as well as complimentary appetizers that are both attentive and delicious.
This is such a beautiful place and we enjoyed a delicious meal here recently. The lady looking after us was so kind and helpful. The food was truly excellent with lovely touches like warm, homemade country bread. We enjoyed sobrasada heart, lungs and kidney followed by fish for my partner and lamb for me.

A friend of us recommended the restaurant, no wonder why! The service was good, friendly and enthusiastic. The menu is compact but in a good way, everything sounded very appealing and we had a hard time choosing. The dishes we ordered were more than ok, they got the flavours and portions just right! The price-quality-quantity is perfect. Nothing to complain about. You can go for a starter, main and dessert with wine and pay less than €50pp. Lovely! Would recommend!!!

Great restaurant if you're looking for a quiet dinner surrounded by fields. We went there early, sat in the terrace overlooking the pool and relaxed enjoying the birds chirping as the only sound. The food was very enjoyable, mainly local ingredients (with the exception of a cod and a salmon dish), which was very welcome after a week of visiting the main touristic spots in the area. The highlight was the sobrassada starter, best I've ever had.

Lovely, rural restaurant with typical mallorquian cuisine. Everything we tried was delicious and the atmosphere and the staff were great. We ate indoors since it was a bit chilly that night, but they have a wonderful outside area as well. Bistro Forn Nou Artà is a charming restaurant located in a beautiful little plaza, offering delicious Spanish food and tapas. The ambiance is cozy and the service is very pleasant. Some popular dishes include tumbolent, frit mallorquin, pulpo a la plancha, fish, and seafood pasta. It's recommended to make a reservation as the place tends to get busy.
A small bistro coved on placa del agua (the city tank is just below the square), we have been a couple of times in arta (got even married there) but it was the first time that we tried this one. Sad we didn t do it earlier. My starter, the fried anchovies, were the best that I ever had, not fat, or wet like they often are, a perfectly dried and crispy surface. They have some mullets on the menu so I couldn’t resist, serve by 3 just for 21 euro. My wife had the asparagus with ham and cheese and then the lobster with fresh tagliatelle, a deep and rich sauce with. The small deception was the dessert, but as the Swedes say “even the sun has its stains”. All in a really good restaurant with local products and good dishes (with an open kitchen, one cannot cheat indeed). They are so many bad restaurants (pizzerias) och wannabee cafe in arta, so this one is a great choice (together with the restaurant of our hotel, Nema). And the owner (one of the ladies serving) is really kind, friendly and full of energy.

A charming little bistro on a beautiful square. The atmosphere is great, the waitress was very friendly and sweet. About the food- the sea bream was very good. I had the salad with the agar agar and it was quite strange… maybe poor choice on my side, but it was really not very good. All in all a very nice bistros with great and charming ambience!

Super recommended! We really wanted some fresh seafood pasta and Bistro Forn Nou absolutely satisfied that craving! Both the paccheri alla marinera and spaghetti with gambas and pesto rojo dishes were fresh, flavoursome, and filling - this coming from an Italian 😅 The croquettas de jamón and albóndigas were also favourites! The restaurant is located in a super quaint square - peaceful and picturesque. A perfect spot in Arta!

Loved the atmosphere here! Go to the back and chill in their backyard. The almond cake was yummy and fresh. Good texture. I had a cortado which was standard. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. You can really tell that high-quality ingredients and a lot of passion go into the cooking here. Whether you’re in the mood for something sweet, savory, or a perfectly brewed coffee, Café Parisien does not disappoint.
