Penyengat Island, not far from Tanjungpinang City, is a compact and historically rich destination. It's home to the tomb of a revered historian, a palace, and the famous Sultan Riau Mosque made of egg whites with its majestic yellow and green buildings. The island offers visitors the chance to witness daily local activities and explore historic spots while being well-adjusted for tourists.
We've come here cos there's a lot of hidden history of people who paved the way to bring Islam to where we are now especially in Malaysia, Indonesia & our connection vise versa.. No question asked. The guy who brought us around is so friendly but i forgot his name though.

One of the objects that can be seen are Sultan Riau Great Mosque that have been made ??from egg whites, the tombs of the Kings, the tomb of the national hero Raja Ali Haji, the Palace complex and blockhouse Office at Kursi Hill. Penyengat island and Penyengat Island palace complex has been nominated to UNESCO to be one of the World Heritage Site. Penyengat island is the perfect island to be visited to enjoy the Malay cultural heritages.

If you're a local, I fully recommend this island. Most people were friendly and it's full of history. But if you're a western tourist, people will also just try to rip you off and a man kept trying to grab me whilst I was visiting the canons at the top of the hill. It ruined my experience and I definitely won't be coming back

The Bintan Green Mangrove Tour & Fireflies Night Tour is a must-visit destination in Bintan, offering a unique experience for travelers. With professional guides, visitors can explore the mangrove on a boat and learn about the diverse ecosystem along the way. The tour also includes an enchanting night experience to witness fireflies in their natural habitat.
Great experience. Amazing Mangrove area with beautiful view. We located some snakes at the tree branches as well. Must visit.
Bidisha P — Google review
Jump into a boat ride for a Mangrove tour with experience guide and safe "boat man" Ah Cai. Saw a couple of snakes and a python. Monkeys and squirrels no where to be seen. Saw my favourite Ah Tap Chee fruit - hahaha never know it looks like that! 👍 Understand how it is named 红树林. Fun ride but a little pricey though 🤭
L W — Google review
Been to Bintan Green Mangrove tour twice with the help of our driver, Mr Naga. First time as a couple and second time with our friends. Throughly enjoy our time there. The tour guides are patient and will explain the species of fireflies that could be seen in the river, the fireflies’ diet and main food source, the ecosystem that differs according to the different parts of the river. The trip can be split into three parts: First part - (Recommendation: for fireflies tour, go for the earliest tour timing at 6pm as before sunset, Bintan Green would bring you to take videos and photos at their swing set as seen from the video) 2nd Part - safety talk plus finding the right size life vest for you before starting the tour (Recommendation: go for a full moon clear night for a beautiful night), the whole cruise takes about 30-45mins sometimes longer but depending on crowd hence best to go on weekdays where there are no crowds. 3rd Part - after the tour, your tour guide will give you a free drink which you can choose from the fridge, take some photos at their rattan made decorations just under the fairy lights which is really beautiful with the river as backdrop. Tips: 1) for a cheaper price, it would be wiser to book through your driver who can advise you on the crowd situation and whether is it a good weather to see fireflies as they can directly contact Bintan Green Mangrove for updates. 2) bring insect repellent to avoid mosquitoes BUT remember to apply only after the trip as once you apply beforehand, the fireflies do not dare to fly around you. 3) go on a weekday with full moon for the first trip to experience all three parts of the trip. Overall, super value for money, will go back to find Mr Naga and Bintan Green Mangrove in future!

I had a very insightful mangrove tour experience! It was so much fun. I might take another tour down the line :)

Fun day and night tour of the mangrove and fireflies. Saw snakes, monkeys and crabs in the day, and the fireflies at night. Get a private tour, totally worth it. There are 2 restaurants along the river so you can eat dinner and then go for the firefly tour immediately after.
Benjamin K — Google review
We had a great experience on the mangrove tour. It was not only scenic but also very educational—we learned a lot about the ecosystem and wildlife. Our guide was friendly, engaging, and entertaining, which made the trip even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the area!

It was a good tour! The guide was very friendly and had great service. The boat captain was good too. He helped spot the catsnakes and other wildlife. They also offered drinks at the end of the trip. The only thig I didn't like was seeing the malayan box turtles in the fish tank. Hopefully they can be released to their natural habitat or live in a pond.

Enjoy the beauty of nature and basked under the bright sunshine shaded by the Mangrove trees. Managed to spot snakes, mud crabs, Scallops & Monitor Lizards in their habitats.

Excellent place that can be easily reached by ferry from Singapore in just 1 hour and 10 minutes to disconnect and escape the hustle and bustle of the city. A natural environment of charm, friendly, respectful and smiling people and dream hotels!!

Beautiful island to spend a quiet weekend away from the hustle of city life. There are lot of activities to be done like Mangroves boat ride during day and during evening for fireflies. Kids love the fireflies ride. There are 2 temples called 100 Lohan and Sleeping Buddha temple, which are nice for sightseeing. The resorts area with the beaches is fantastic and simply beautiful. The must visit place is Blue Lake and Dessert, haven't seen bluer water than here. All in all a great place for 3 days and 2 nights trip from Singapore with prices similar to Singapore.

Great place to escape Singapore. Price & resorts within the tourist area are a little more than you may expect. The beaches are clean, sand soft and white. There's so much to do if you like nature as the island has some awesome forests and coastline. It's an ideal place to take kids where you can chill and the kids can play. This is our third visit to the island, we will definitely be back again.

The 500 Lohan Temple, also known as Vihara Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, is a stunning Buddhist temple located in Kijang, Bintan Selatan. Just a short drive from Tanjung Pinang, this hidden gem boasts tranquil grounds and is home to a series of lifelike stone arhat statues. The main highlight of the temple is the 500 life-sized Lohan statues, each adorned in different costumes and showcasing unique facial expressions.
Specially booked a tour this visit Bintan city. Exploring the 500 Lohan Temple, a mesmerizing collection of intricately carved statues, each with its own unique expression and story. A peaceful and spiritual experience that leaves you in awe.

super cool place to visit, very peaceful and inspiring somehow. if you can read chinese, you can also read all signs underneath each statue to learn more. if not, it’s still a very interesting visit. highly recommend. note that there is an entrance fee to be paid at the counter.

Impressive carvings of lohan each with different expressions. Entrance with a huge statue overlooking. On the left of the temple, surrounded by plaques with life story and teachings of Buddha. If the weather permits, it is really good to finish reading them. Could walk further up to the hill top and have a good view and enjoy the winds.

It's a hot day but all the pictures taken there were beautiful and bright. Came there by car... If you come by bus you have to take a walk up the hill not advisable for those who are having painful legs. The Entrance fee is IDR30,000 per person. It's not a big place.

Lohan Temple Bintan is truly a hidden gem on the beautiful island of Bintan. This temple offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making it the perfect place for spiritual contemplation and relaxation. The temple's architecture is stunning, with intricate carvings and vibrant colors that showcase the rich cultural heritage of the region. The statues of the lohans, or arhats, are particularly impressive, each one unique and exquisitely crafted. Visiting Lohan Temple is not only a visual feast, but also a spiritual journey. The temple grounds are well-maintained and provide a tranquil setting for meditation and reflection. The lush gardens surrounding the temple add to the overall sense of serenity. The temple staff are friendly and welcoming, always ready to assist visitors and share the history and significance of the temple. Their dedication to maintaining the temple's beauty and providing a peaceful environment for visitors is truly commendable. I highly recommend visiting Lohan Temple Bintan for anyone seeking a unique and immersive cultural experience. Whether you are interested in Buddhism or simply appreciate beautiful architecture and peaceful surroundings, this temple is a must-visit destination.

Pizza restaurant
Italian restaurant
Pizza Casa Italia is a charming pizzeria located near Trikora Beach in Bintan, Indonesia. It is owned and operated by an Italian family who were captivated by the allure of Bintan and decided to make it their home. The restaurant offers a unique blend of authentic Italian wood-fired pizzas with locally inspired flavors such as eggs, chili, and sardines.
Nice pizza with REALLY thin crust! It was a small house/hut with a wood fire oven and you can watch your pizza freshly made. I liked the sausage pizza and it was interesting that the locals eat the pizza dipped in chilli sauce. Really affordable too. Also nice view of the ocean while eating pizza 🌊 (I wouldn’t use the toilet here tho)
Kylie G — Google review
The pizza is not worth the 1hr drive from Blue Lake. Reading from all the reviews I finally experience the 1 star review is true. Sea water is clear but the beach is so dirty. Surrounding environment makes me want to leave as soon as we finish the pizza. Only accepts cash.
Rosalind T — Google review
Al fresco pizza with gorgeous sea front seating and views!! Thin crust simple no frills stone oven baked pizza. Cheese is the best imo….dont forget to take a stroll over the submerged sandbank to the tiny island after your meal for more unique experience.
Jz — Google review
I would rate this place 9/10 Combination of nice beach, pizza and coconut drinks are perfect! The place also not too crowded. The entrance fee cost about IDR 5,000-10,000
Nur H — Google review
Food: cheesy and delicious. Portion reasonable for $6 SGD per pizza Price: cheapest for authentic thin crust oven baked pizza Ambience: 4/5 - strong sea breeze with airy sea views. Do note that to sit in the huts near the beach will need to book and top up in cash. Not a full five as there are still some flies. Service: 5/5 - limited English but will tries to give recommendations with smiles. Location: 2 hours drive away from Lagoi Resorts. Tip: about two hours drive from Lagoi, only go there where going Trikora beach.
Gina S — Google review
Beautiful place and reasonably priced authentic pizza 🍕 highly recommended! We arrived quite late around 4.20pm, had a quick bite and managed to unwind at the serene and beautiful island/beach nearby. When it was around 4.55pm, we were approached at the beach by some staffs that informed this place is private land and they closes at 5pm. Something worth to take note of.
G — Google review
Beautiful beach with little island near the beach. A lot of tree so we can enjoy the beach without get burned 😅. The pizza is pretty good. Free entrance, you can rent a hut or sit in the cafe's bench while enjoy the food and the view. But i think the bathroom is dirty.. so we decide to bring our own clean water everytime we visit this place (note: we've never been swimming here)
Yosefina G — Google review
Awesome place you should visit if u r in Bintan. We went there for Pizza and to meet the person who started this place. Unfortunately he was not there and we were told he went to Italy! We went ahead and ordered pizza. The staff working there does not understand much English. Hopefully our taxi driver knew and did translation for us. We ordered chicken pizza, mushroom pizza, and one cheese pizza. Pizza is a lot different from what you must have eaten else where. It is thin crust, has lot of flour and i would say quite perfectly baked in one of there old brick oven. You can sit inside near to kitchen area or there are wooden benches outside on/near beach. There are only wooden benches to sit. Ample of parking space available. It is on the beach. There is an island nearby which you can go by walk when water levels are low. Lots of sitting space available. Its better to check first whether its open or close as we had missed it on our one of bintan visit. U get water, cold drinks, ice lemon tea.

Perched on stilts above the ocean, Kelong Seafood Restaurant Nirwana Gardens offers a refined dining experience with stunning sea views. The restaurant specializes in serving a traditional Indonesian seafood menu. It is highly recommended for those who enjoy breathtaking sunsets and delicious meals. This upscale establishment is located within the Bintan Resorts area, providing visitors with an unforgettable culinary experience amidst the natural beauty of Bintan Island.
My third visit. Quality of the food was remains good. Black pepper crab was the best. Price wise is similar to Singapore’s restaurant. But, the seafood is fresh and live. So it’s worth it.
Hui X — Google review
It's a very nice, breezy place for dinner. Our initial plan was to have dinner there while enjoying the sunset view, but unfortunately, it was a rainy day and we missed it. However, we still enjoyed our seafood dinner very much. The food was delicious. We ordered butter crabs, black pepper prawns, steamed red grouper, and vegetables. The seafood was very fresh, and everything tasted great. The price is slightly above average, but it's worth trying. The service also deserves a mention. The waitress was sweet and friendly.

Kelong Seafood offers an amazing dining experience with delicious seafood at reasonable prices. The ambience is fantastic, providing a relaxing atmosphere that enhances the meal. Service is excellent—staff are attentive and quick to respond, often arriving as soon as you raise your hand. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great seafood and a pleasant dining environment!
Zyun Z — Google review
Great place for dinner and the seafood is fresh. At the same time romantic and quiet moment to enjoy couple dinner . Great to dine here and eat tasty food while watching sunset. Recommend to come for meal here especially during evening time. Seafood fried rice , squid and vegetable is taste good. But a jug of sprite cost 250000 plus 10% tax is a little expensive. Beside that it is ok .
Moxij T — Google review
Beautifully place and fabulous food. Service can be better. Waiters can be more helpful and polite. A must visit restaurant though.
Prachi P — Google review
This establishment is, without a doubt, a tourist trap. The poor condition of the restaurant was immediately apparent: the facility is seriously run down and shows clear signs of neglect, with no maintenance seeming to have been done in a long time. Adding insult to injury, the food was served on cheap, plastic kitchenware, and the tables were covered with severely damaged plastic tablecloths. The price-to-quality ratio is abysmal—you will pay a premium for a deeply sub-par dining environment.
George K — Google review
The food is not bad, portion is pretty big, just that a little pricey as compared to other places. We order a veg, a crab, prawn and chicken, cost us 1.6mil. Service staffs are attentive and the restaurant is clean.
Iris W — Google review
Food is great, you can tell the seafood is very very fresh. Definitely go for their crab here. Will give this place a 5-star review, if not for the pricing (basically SG pricing).

Warung Yeah! is a casual Halal restaurant located on the beautiful Lagoi Beach in Bintan, Indonesia. It offers great food at reasonable prices and provides a perfect beachside dining experience. The friendly staff and delicious menu items such as Indomie, Satay Madura, and Ikan Bulat Bakar have received high praise from customers.
Very nice cafe that serve good food with a very reasonable price... I like the relaxing wooden theme atmosphere here. The aircon is cool as compared to the hot sun. The food was nice. Kampung Fried Rice is perfect. The drinks here Fresh Coconut and Coconut Lime is very good and refreshing. The chicken burger is kind of too hard and overcooked maybe Indonesia Fried Chicken is like this. Level 2 have a great view oversee Lagoi Beach. The vibe is really perfect. Can spent hours enjoying the hot beach view here. While enjoying the aircon. The Yeah Mart next door selling a lot of stuff with very reasonable price. We bought a lot of stuff here and bring back to hotel, this really help a lot in managing the budget on food. This plaxd is a recommendation.

Had a great meal at Warung Yeah — the food was flavourful and definitely worth coming back for. The environment was cozy and well-suited for a casual dine-in experience. However, the service at the front order counter could be improved. A bit more attentiveness and friendliness would go a long way in making the overall experience even better.

We came back twice during our stay in Bintan. The food was very affordable and delicious. Service was great and even the drinks were yummy and coffee was great. We tried the Ayam Bakso and the Indomie Yeah, and Sate Taichan the first time. Indomie was great but on the saltier side while the Bakso had a nice fragrance but the noodles were a little overcooked. Although, both were delicious. Second time round we tried the Ayam Penyet and had the regular ayam sate. The ayam penyet was lovely, the star was the chilli! Personally, I also preferred the Ayam Sate compared to the Sate Taichan we had the previous time. Overall, a must try at Lagoi Bay that still maintains affordable prices!

June 2025 - Definite tourist restaurant. Only ate here for the first meal on the first day. - Food was decent, and the staff were okay, and were trying their best. - Was crowded, but no problems finding a table as there was ample seating indoors and outdoors. - The wait for the food was quite long, 20 to 30 minutes, and had to remind the staff. - Ordered a ayam sop, but was informed after payment that they were out of stock. They issued a refund. - The cashier ran out of small change (because most tourists were using the large denominated notes), but they did their best to round up the amount, but they gave back the change.

They offer Javanese food and the taste was very amazing!!! For those people who want to try Indonesian traditional food must try to go in here. I like the “tahu telur” very highly recommended, if you like spicy you can request it. They’re also have choice of food start from fried rice, noodles, vegetarian, western and beverages. Don’t worry about the price because it’s still affordable 🧏🏼‍♀️ The view is also very indulgent. The holiday will be very memorable because visiting here, whether it's on the second floor or the outside area everything looks amazing. Service was good, cleanest and the vibes also good🥰🥰 Note : if you come in lunch and dinner time it will be so hectic, better you make reservations before 😉

Came here for dinner. The sunset view is blocked by the new flyover now. Dishes rating: Stir fried Kailan: 0 stars. this dish was awful. Very seldom that you can get a vegetable dish this wrong. The kailan was so tough that it was unchewable. Even after feedback, they brought back whatever was left over to re-fry and served back to us. And still tough. It was also very salty. Not recommended . Chilli crab: 4.5/5. the sauce was very nice, great pairing with the mantou which was crispy outside and soft and fluffy inside. Definitely the recommended dish here. Hong Kong steam black grouper: 3/5. Fish was fresh. But it wasn't the type of Hong Kong steam we preferred (soya sauce was not the sweet and savoury type).

Most definitely, a Chinese seafood restaurant to visit when you are in Tanjung Pinang! The restaurant is very suitable for family settings and Chinese banquet lavish dinners! But when I walked in alone, the Chinese manager was quick to serve me and attended to me with care! The chilly crab and the freshly fried Naibai vegetables were spectacular! Won't loose out to any of the expensive seafood that I have had in Singapore! My dinner was only R400,400 = S$34!!! They had outside sitting by the Bay where you are able to have a glimpse of the beautiful sunset across the newly reclaimed area and bridge! I chose to sit inside and the aircon was just nice! Doubtlessly, I will make my way back here the very next time I am in Tanjung Pinang! The food is just too good to forget! God bless your New Year!

Clean and spacious Chinese cuisine seafood restaurant by the water front. Absolutely loved the food here! Rich, robust flavors with fantastic sauces, a charming ambiance, and excellent service. I ordered the fried duck which was crispy and tender, the small coconut puff were also a delight to pair with the sauces. This place tops my list for Indonesian cuisine. A fantastic experience, will be back if I stay around the area next time!

We were here 3 times including the breakfast. The view from the restaurant is so beautiful and the food truly outstanding. We adored everything we ordered, and I'm very impressed by their vegetarian options. The stir fry eggplants and tofu in coconut curry were so flavorful. Their standard Indonesian fares are also quite delicious. I am partial to all of their beef dishes (sop buntut and the beef shank). Service is truly warm and caring. And their crackers are always something to look forward to. Can't wait to be back

July 2025 Review: 🛑 Food quality is very low compared to what this restaurant should deliver 😵The Nasi Goreng (fried rice) was bland, it was very dry and hard (maybe they use the rice from the breakfast or even the day before…?) 🙄Beef Rendang was not tender meat, it was hard and not juicy. Very disappointing ✅ Only the Gado Gado salad was good Overall I don’t recommend this place, sad to say the food quality is lowered than any Indonesian restaurant in a Kampung area… The Nasi Goreng honestly was shameful… how can this 5 ⭐️ restaurant serves this ?

The food is not great, but the view is amazing. Also way overpriced compared to other better options. The worst was the mosquitos outside.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The restaurant at Banyan Resort was a lovely experience! The breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had a great variety. The manager was extremely kind and welcoming, always greeting guests with a smile and checking if everything was perfect. The staff were amazing — attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. They even updated some of the dishes, which was a nice surprise. Truly one of the highlights of our stay

Really enjoyed our dinner at treetops restaurant , we weren’t staying at banyan tree however they got a buggy to drive us to the restaurant which was much appreciated Food wise we loved the spring rolls as well as the beef randang and laksa Service was great and we enjoyed the dinner greatly

The restaurants at Banyan tree usually have amazing service and Treetops is no exception. We had the buffet breakfast here and also Lunch - both were equally amazing.Coming to Ambience You can either sit inside or outside looking at the sea. We chose inside since it was quite hot at lunch and had rained heavily at breakfast the next day ! For Lunch we ordered Nasi Goreng, a fried Tofu starter and an Auberigine main course. I also ordered an Iced Caramel coffee. Presentation was meticulous and taste and texture of every item was fantastic. Fried tofu was crispy outside and soft and juicy inside. The dips were really good and went well with the tofu. The Auberigine fry was very flavorful and delicious. Can't recommend this place enough !!
