Carolina Raptor Center, located in Huntersville, North Carolina, is a rehabilitation and conservation facility for raptors. It houses over 35 different species of birds of prey and offers outdoor nature trails where visitors can observe these fascinating creatures up close. The center also conducts flight shows and features indoor exhibits to educate the public about these majestic birds. In addition to being an aviary rehab facility, it serves as an educational center with programs that reach thousands of students annually.
Excellent family activity. All staff are professional, friendly, knowledgeable. All raptors are upclose where you can actually see them. Cages are maintained and animals look happy! You walk a trail too view raptors so it's like a hike through the woods. There is a show that the staff put on. We were very surprised as the show was the highlight. Definitely will return, perfect family activity for all ages. Thank-you Carolina Raptor Center..special thanks to Alex for spending extra time with my 8yr old that asked a million questions. 🙂👍

Great learning experience for the kids. It's about $45 for 2 kids and an adult. Also 100% outdoors and shaded so bring your off or prepare for mosquitos. My kids spent about an hour and a half but slowing them down to read all the info didn't happen the whole time. I'd say you could make an easy 2 hours if you walked through and read everything. When the kids are a little older I think it'll be better bang for the buck with their attention spans being what they are.
Christopher F — Google review
The walking path is nice & shady and the birds are wonderful. The cages do seem small for the individual birds. Also, I do agree that the gift shop people were less than helpful. If I can visit again, I’ll try to come when I can go to their hospital, as I am more familiar with that end of raptor and bird rehab.
Meagan E — Google review
Well worth the price as the birds are awesome. Really beautiful habitats and love how its built into the forest. Felt like you were hiking a trail and had a wide range of different raptors. If you love seeing birds of prey, this is the place to go.
Craig F — Google review
Best raptor center this year by far. So close to the birds. Cages are not long and narrow. They are big but set up so bird is close to viewer. The birds were so active and wasn't to busy. Cool trails through the woods also
Tim C — Google review
I attended with my child's school. The presentation was fun and very informative, the birds of prey were amazing to see up close. All of the facilities for both humans and the birds were top-notch!
Jack B — Google review
The Carolina Raptor Center helps treat over 800 sick and injured birds per year. The facility is small, with a walking trail and enclosures that can be completed in less than an hour. Your visit supports wildlife, the price is reasonable, and it is worth stopping by if you are in the Charlotte area.
Mike P — Google review
The highlight of our trip to Charlotte. The staff was so amazing and the birds were spectacular. Our 1-year old was super tuned in to the “show” /demo they do as were the rest of us. That demonstration is really remarkable. I was also very impressed with the amount of signs and descriptions, and nods to the donors and builders of the enclosures. Looks like the Boy Scouts have been hard at work building things. Just a note, if you can afford to donate, please do, as these birds eat upwards of $100K of special mice and rats and things annually. Makes sense, because most of them are giant birds and have lots of space to move around. They seem happy and well cared for. The paths are easy to walk.

Amazing play museum for kids! I brought my 1.5 year old and she had a great time exploring all the different play areas. I appreciated that they had smocks for the kids to wear when playing with the water station. Great way to spend the day!
Elizabeth S — Google review
Awesome for kids under 8 years! It has 2 levels - lots of stimulating play structures, indoor playground, water play, legos, and play pretend areas ( super market, kitchen, farm, sea underwater, car mechanic etc). Huge creative arts & craft room, magic and lab experiment shoes throughout the day. The staff are super friendly. There is a cafe /snack room with vending machines and nursing room for moms!! Get the annual membership! So worth the price - especially if you have multiple kids!!
Ashley T — Google review
We love coming to discovery place for our toddler to get some playtime in and it’s especially great for rainy days or when it’s very hot outside. They constantly sanitize different areas throughout the day and have little shows in the stage area to entertain the kids. Plenty of areas for different interests in play styles. Some areas can get messy but it’s up to the parents to help children learn to clean up after they are done playing. So it’s to be expected that it’s a tad messy in some cases. Also some of the displays didn’t have the pieces like the apples in the farm area or the foam blocks in the construction area. That could be due to cleaning those pieces, maybe missing, or maybe those displays weren’t working correctly anymore. Appreciated the area for snack time and having a variety of options for kids and parents. Regardless overall they have plenty of spaces for kids to explore and play.
Marissa W — Google review
The attention to detail in this place is like no other! I mean look at all the ingredients. I wish I got more photos but I was truly an awe. They had apple and corn picking, a pizza restaurant, water tables, a car shop, arts and craft. It was incredible. Would totally go again if I was in the area
Jocelyn A — Google review
Fun for all ages!! My 2 and 9 year olds had a blast! Staff was friendly and constantly walking around interacting with kids and cleaning up.
Danielle — Google review
Fun for little kids, though for me far too open with a really high ceiling making it echoey, loud, and overstimulating. I’d prefer more walls and peaceful nooks. The play structures are fun, and if I lived nearby I would be a member, but I probably could get better fun value for my 10, 8, and 6 year old: paying $16 per person (including adults who are mostly just following kids around supervising them) is pricey. I have more fun at the high point children’s museum (the Nido and Mariana Qubien Children’s Museum) it has more outside areas and a greater variety of play opportunities for different ages and a double decker carousel!
Bethany — Google review
It has been over a year and a half since I have been to discovery place kids in Huntersville . The yearly membership has increased from ard $120 to over $200. It is dingy, dirty and rundown. I would not reccomend returning until after the rennovations scheduled to begin in 2027.

Birkdale Village is a vibrant residential lifestyle center that offers a diverse range of experiences for visitors. From major retailers and charming boutiques to a variety of restaurants and multi-screen movies, there's something for almost everyone. The mixed-use community hosts events such as live music and movie nights, creating an engaging atmosphere. The architecture resembles a small town with shops on the lower floors and condominiums above, while the spacious parking deck provides convenience.
I love to go to this place with my friends and family! It is so fun! I love all of the different restaurants and shops there and they have such a good variety. They have a little bit of construction going on right now but that is for a few new restaurants and it isn’t loud or a disturbance. Fun place to sit and play in the center with live music on Friday nights. I usually always feel very safe here and there are cops that will walk around at all times for safety reasons. Most of the time there is not a lot of parking on the street but it is good that there is parking garages. Overall definitely recommended coming here!

Birkdale village is kinda must visit place for me and my family as our close relatives are in Huntersville and just across the road from Birkdale village. I lived here when I first moved to the Charlotte area. This village is a great place to experience great dining and live in a secure well groomed community. The atmosphere is alive in the evenings but not to out of hand later in the evenings. You’ll get your sleep and wake up to your choices of a Starbucks or First watch breakfast within a couple of minutes walking. Always enjoy Birkdale Village, love the place.

Festival
Arts organization
The Carolina Renaissance Festival in Huntersville is a yearly event that showcases simulated battles between knights on horseback, along with Renaissance-style attire, crafts, and feasts. It is known for its stunning period costumes, delectable food offerings, unique merchandise, and remarkable live performances. The festival also offers an educational experience by hosting the Carolina Raptor Center where visitors can learn about various birds of prey such as eagles, vultures, hawks, and falcons.
The Carolina Renaissance Festival is one of our favorite fall traditions. The atmosphere is incredible — from the live shows and music to the hilarious street performers and unique shops, there’s never a dull moment. Our kids absolutely loved it (especially the jousting and the giant turkey legs!). Everything was well organized, the staff and performers were friendly, and even with the crowds it felt easy to navigate. Plenty of shaded spots, great food options, and so much for all ages to enjoy. If you’ve never been, go — it’s the perfect mix of history, humor, and family fun!
Jason C — Google review
If you enjoy a good experience filled with awe you have to check out this Faire! They work hard to keep the atmosphere and interaction alive. I strongly suggest dressing up, even if its just a simple cloak or some elf ears... its so much fun and my favorite part was probably just checking out all the fashion on the visitors as much as the employees. I love how everyone was in the moment and immersed in the experience. Shows are great for a laugh and there's so many to see. Cash is king, but there are ATMs if you don't mind waiting in line. Fair food was actually as expected or better in price and so easy to get access to despite the large crowd on our visit. Games or rides are reasonable at $4-10. Shopping is where you might find yourself in debt. There's some really amazing things but many are on the higher prices end. Parking is plenty and you will be easily directed as you arrive to park. I wasn't worried about the walk as we came to spend the entire day on foot but it may be a lot if your not used to getting in a lot of steps so keep that in mind when choosing shoes. Overall, if your thinking about it, just do it!
Jonica M — Google review
This was such an amazing experience. The atmosphere, the aesthetics, the employees, the performances were all top notch. Even with the crowds there was so much space that walking around was easy and it didn't feel like cattle going through a chute. There's so much to see and experience that it's hard to do it all in one day. Will definitely be back again next season.
Heidi L — Google review
It was my first time and I’ll definitely will be back! Lots of food and drink options, the shows were amazing (and hilarious too), I loved the shops and found lots to spend money on! Very family friendly atmosphere and everyone was super friendly and it was a chill vibe, especially with it being so busy (but it didn’t feel overly crowded). Oh, and we loved the games and rides too! Parking was a breeze and we’re going back next weekend!! I can definitely see why people would opt for the season passes 👍
Matthew G — Google review
Celebrated my birthday here. It was our first REN faire. We had a great time. Lots of good foods and great shows. We wished that we had booked two days. Parking is plentiful but a long walk to the event. The lines for drinks are extremely long and if you want to drink you can only get one at the time. You could spend several hours waiting in line to get one drink at a time. I'm not sure what the deal with that is. Check your bags when buying from vendors. Sadly, I was missing the dragon chia tea that I paid $18 for from Mountain Song Herbals, I did get the matcha, chap stick and elderberry potion. I know he charged me for it but it wasn't in the bag :(. It was very crowded but everyone seemed to be polite as they navigated through the park. We will visit again. Don't skip the THE COTTAGE BAKERY it was phenomenal and The Roses of the realm show was great!

This year was the 2nd time we have went to Ren Fest and love it just as much as the first time. Everyone is friendly. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is great with great prices to match. I got a broccoli cheddar bead bowl and my husband got the meatball bowl and they were $6 a piece. We also got roasted corn and they were very good too and priced at $4 an ear. Cost of the tickets were fairly priced and parking is FREE! Can’t wait to go again!
Brandy S — Google review
Very fun 🤩 lots of great shows and interesting stuff for sale. One day might not even be enough to see everything 😅 Only downside is there are very long lines everywhere for food and drinks that take up a lot of time. Especially the line for the chimney roll, that line is about an hour and a half wait 😅
Sofia M — Google review
I’ve been to some smaller festivals. Carolina was an entirely different experience. Huge, beautiful site with permanent stages and structures, well laid out grounds, facilities, and flow. So many of the attendees were in character with amazing costumes. Great shows and staff. Bravo. We will return.

Loved this place. Amazing service! The beertender gave me a few samples. They had such an amazing selection. Was hard for me to choose. I loved the space/ had a cozy space by the drafts and then a separate room with tables and pinball machines. They also had a huge outdoor space! I had the seasonal ginger snap ale- was sooo good. I will definitely go back!

We rented their garage room for a graduation party this past weekend! It was perfect! They were so easy to work with, reasonable price, great atmosphere and owner is awesome! He welcomed us in- helped us set up audio and video then let us do our thing! Such a great experience! It was perfect for a graduation party with pool table, darts, pinball machines and cornhole- the kids loved it and then access to the bar for adults!!! I can’t say enough good things about it! Highly recommend!!!

I love this place! I come here after work with my colleagues all the time & have event been to birthday parties that my friends have hosted here! It’s dog and kid friendly. I’m actually hosting my wedding shower here (with all my nieces and nephews coming) and they had zero problem with that! (I’m renting out the event space inside) I’ve also been to the kid rock concert (Learn Music Legends Concert) too! *pic of my pup at primal in december*

We really enjoyed this place. They have a great selection of beer. Nice patio and band on the weekend. Service was great. I would definitely recommend this place.
Nate B — Google review
Huntersville location: Deducted one star due to it being located along a busy roadway. A valiant effort was made though, to mitigate the noise with strategically placed fencing and landscaping materials. It seemed like the owners set out to create three separate spaces to provide three distinct experiences for their patrons. Allow me to explain. The yard is quite large with a a covered tap, corn hole arena, and a large tent provides lots of shaded seating. There was an unaffiliated food truck on the premises the day we visited but we did not partake—we came with our drinking caps on! This is the preferred space for expert day drinkers to congregate when the weather is fair. Everything out here was well conceived and perfectly executed. The interior has a large bar space over which the many beer selections are proudly displayed. Pub decor prevails in this dimly lit, cozy space with plenty of high top tables opposite the bar area. This spaces lends itself well for those seeking to catch a buzz when the weather is foul. The “game room” offers activities for those who enjoy multi-tasking while they imbibe—pool tables, darts, pinball and related games abound in this garage-like space. Overall the folks at Primal have created some great brews and provided a fantastic setting for you to enjoy them. It’s worth venturing away from the swarmed Uptown area of Charlotte to sample what Primal has to offer!
Ted D — Google review
The beer is phenomenal. I loved so many of them. Lots of fun areas inside and outside to enjoy your time. Staff were fun and chatty and knowledgeable about their beer! Wish we lived closer bc we would be regulars! You can also buy mix and match 6 packs of their beer!

This place is super fun! We headed out to Primal Brewing for a Grateful Dead cover band show last weekend. The band had a last minute emergency come up, so the gig got cancelled without notice. Luckily we were both dressed in Grateful Drip, which started conversations all along the bar top! We had a great time hanging out with the owners and chopping it up with locals. Got a list of upcoming events to attend, but I'm sure we will be back before Halloween! Thanks you guys, for making us feel welcome! See y'all soon!!!

Midwood Smokehouse offers a unique dining experience with its regional BBQ specialties served in a roadhouse-like setting. The restaurant is known for its finger-licking, fall-off-the-bone, melt-in-your-mouth meat cooked with the inviting aroma of North Carolina hickory. The generous portions, flavorful sauces, and impeccable service ensure a satisfying visit that will likely make it your favorite spot for BBQ. The ambiance is relaxed and authentic, complemented by country music playing overhead.
Really good BBQ from someone from Texas. Brisket, broccoli casserole, and Mac n cheese were all excellent. Server was very helpful and had all the right answers to questions when prompted. (Zach) Overall great experience!

A lot of people recommended this place to us, and they weren’t wrong. We had a great evening—the waitress guided us through the menu and patiently explained the best options for us. Even though the restaurant was crowded, the food came out quickly. The brisket and pulled pork were incredible, and the beans were fantastic. We definitely want to come back soon!
Earvin M — Google review
The corn bread skillet was our favorite! The meat was tender and very flavorful. The tostada stacks were pretty good. We will definitely be coming back. Our waitress was super nice and kept checking in on us. I thought the decor was fun to look.

Service is always great and food is always delicious!! I have been coming here for over 3 years and love the food so much. The pulled pork, smoked wings appetizer, meat balls, nachos, ribs, chicken, a short rib(a long bone special they have only on a specific day), baked beans, collard greens are all some really delicious items that I love to get!!

This location is just as good, if not better than the others. Food was great, hot and not over done like some BBQ is. Prices are fair, staff is great, they know what to do here at Midwood, in all locations! Wings are always a must! Like no matter what, the Habenro/mango wings are a MUST, everything else is a treat after!!
Olympus_Travel — Google review
I was in Charlotte visiting family and we chose Midwood Smokehouse (Birkdale) for dinner. I ordered a Carolina pork tray which comes tossed in a Carolina vinegar based sauce which tasted very good. The meat didn't necessarily need any sauce whatsoever but they brought out another vinegar based sauce and a sweeter "Midwood" sauce. The smoke flavor was very thick and welcoming, made me feel like I was eating quality BBQ. There were little bits of bark that had an exceptional seasoning profile to it. Their baked beans also had pulled pork in it and had a sweeter smoky taste to it. The coleslaw had a little tang to it which paired really well with the rest of my food. The hush puppies were good, not fantastic but still very good. There were what seemed like really fresh refrigerator pickles on the side which were a nice change from plain old jar pickles like most places give you. For a local chain and eating in a shopping mall I was impressed at how good this food was. Also not pictured is the quesabirria tacos that my wife had ordered. The meat was really good but the tacos got soggy real fast. Good flavor though.

We really enjoy midwood, they always accommodate our family groups 14+. This is a relaxed but busy atmosphere the service is always good the food is served promptly. My wife had the brisket and said it was delicious. I had the salmon it was excellent, the salads and sides are also very good. The cornbread in a skillet is way too good and the pimento cheese fries are a must try.

What a relaxing way to end the day. Four of us went after work. The hostess was very accommodating to include having patience while I made a phone call to inquire of the others if they wanted to dine outside. Our waitress, Samantha (Sam), should be elevated to lead trainer. She is the perfect example of what patrons are wanting to experience after work. She was attentive to every need as we ordered, ate, and expertly boxed our leftovers. When I informed Sam I was allergic to tomatoes, she removed the pico from the table and didnt bring another tomato on anyones meal without confirmation. No detail was left out including an additional oz of lime juice for the guacamole to preserve. Mike Deal, the manager. If he isn't a general manager he SHOULD be! To watch a manager work the floor AND the line shows incredible attention to detail The food (kiss the chef). Perfectly smoked, prepared, and presented! Our only regret was not saving room for dessert. They deserve 10 stars! Unfortunately I took the pics after we started eating...but you get the picture. Also, the guacamole didn't need any additional lime juice the following day and the flavor was amazing

If you’re looking for a bar with a fantastic selection of beers and an amazing atmosphere, this place is a must-visit! They offer a wide range of craft beers, and Brian provided excellent service—his beer recommendations were spot on. We tried the buffalo burger and buffalo-loaded nachos, and both dishes were absolutely delicious! The nachos were packed with flavor, loaded with toppings, and perfectly crispy, while the buffalo burger had a great kick and was cooked just right. The lively ambiance, great crowd, and multiple TV screens make it a perfect spot for a night out or catching a game. Highly recommend!

Review of the takeout only. Shortly: Great quantity and taste for the money! We did some takeout while traveling through the eastern states. It was surprisingly solid, and the portions were simply enormous. It's definitely worth a try. We had some grilled chicken with a side salad and ribs.

My wife and I have been going to Red Rocks since we moved here in 2006. It has been consistently good. We always bring out of town guests there for a great meal. We love their Crab Bisque. Steaks are always cooked perfectly. Today we went for lunch and it was good, lunch special Chicken Piccata was only ok, but everything else was great. Great Service today and anytime we visit. Will be back soon…

The service was good. The food was good. I think the ambiance and the scene is a biggest upside to the place. The drinks were really good. It’s a decent spot for a change of scenery. The outside seating in the evening is very nice. Not the tastiest but not a bad place to eat. The ribs and fries were good, but the salmon and Caesar salad were just alright.

Always great food and service! Enjoyed the Eggs Benedict for brunch which had the best Hollandaise sauce. Brunch goes until 3pm which is later than most for brunch

We came here for lunch and the food was really not worth the price. It looked and tasted very cheap, something I would expect of a Denny’s, not 14-25 dollars per item. We needed to send an item back because of this. We also had to change tables because of a heater above us when it was much too warm out. Our server was very kind, but overall I would not recommend. There are plenty of other good restaurants around.

Really nice restaurant. We loved the ambience and the atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, huge and welcoming. Food especially Sushi that types we tried were awesome. Definitely big on our list to come again.

What an amazing experience! It was a busy night, so to avoid the wait, we sat at the bar even though we didn't get drinks. The bar staff were attentive and kind. Even though they were busy, we got focused attention when it was needed. The food was spectacular! The ingredients were fresh, and the raw fish bites simply melted in my mouth. It was delicious! The spicy poke dip is a must try. You will not be disappointed!

Love the environment. I had the Bento Box and had chicken. Very disappointed the meat was so dry there was no sauce or spic. The Mongolian Beef was good. The fried rice and cucumber salad was good. My mother enjoyed it. The sushi was also dry however I will go back and try another dish. It was edible. The potstickers and fire shrimp was very good.

It's been a while since I stopped at eeZ fusion, but I had a gift card and a hunger for some sushi. I ended up getting a bento box and an appetizer so I could try several things. The portions are generous, but the pricing is a little on the higher side. The bento box is a good value though. I appreciate the quality and quantity of veggies with each item and the sushi was delicious. The spring rolls were large but, especially for the price of $14 for two, they weren't quite as flavorful as I would have liked. The rice was also a little stale. Service was prompt and professional. The atmosphere is top notch. I had enough to take half home! There are a lot of options available on the menu and a variety of indoor and outdoor seating.

Birkdale can get busy, especially on a Friday night, but we have small children so we were there by 5:30. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our table was also close to the food prep area and the kids liked watching. My husband got the pork belly kimchi dish, and liked it, but said it could have used more kimchi flavor. I was craving a poke bowl, which hit the spot. Now I need to go back for the other one! The kids liked the "lava rocks" chicken bites in sweet and sour sauce with pineapple and red bell pepper. Tasty leftovers came home! Comfortable for families, groups, eating at the bar, and a date.

The service was on point, the sushi selection is good, the ramen was great, price was on the high side related to the location, a good place on the way in or out of Charlotte.

I went on a lunch date with my hubby to Eez fusion and thoroughly enjoyed the bento box lunch option. It’s a nice way to try multiple options if you’re unsure of what to order. The menu was quite extensive and as someone who is pretty indecisive this option was perfect for me. I ordered the sesame chicken and firecracker roll, both were pretty good! My husband ordered the pad thai and we shared the calamari. My cocktail was a martini with Elijah Craig bourbon and was very good. Will definitely be back for a lunch outing again.

Great location for a sushi and fusion food, be prepared for a wait during peak time. I would recommend for family dinner time because their kids menu is great.

Kung Foo Noodle is a stylish fusion eatery that offers a variety of Asian dishes, including sushi, soup noodles, banh mi, and bubble teas. The establishment boasts vibrant decor and has recently hired a skilled sushi chef who has greatly improved the quality of their sushi. The rice is excellent and the fish is fresh. They also serve delicious Tonkotsu soup as well as other delectable options on their menu.
I’d been seeing tons of positive reviews and was really craving Asian food, so we decided to check it out. Bonus points for being at Birkdale Village — always nice to walk around after a good meal (though parking can be a bit of a pain during busy times). It was a Friday night and the place was packed, but even without a reservation, we didn’t have to wait long. Our server (pretty sure his name started with a J) was awesome — super helpful and had some solid recommendations. We tried a mix of things: a couple of sushi rolls, ramen, soup, and fried rice. Everything hit the spot! The ramen broth was rich and comforting, the beef soup had a nice tang and depth of flavor, and the fried rice? Totally addicting. Overall, a great experience. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and in the mood for bold, tasty Asian eats.

It’s good. Little bit dated inside. Food was good mixture of flavors. Prices were a bit lower than the area. We chose two appetizers. Small sizes. Enough for two to taste. Not enough for 3 to sample. 1 fried rice with bacon and kielbasa ok … think southern fried rice. 1 basil fried rice with tofu. Think college kids trying to cook. 1 chicken chow fun. Solid flavors. Portion size on entrees good to large. Definitely made up for skimpy appetizers.

The little restaurant is located in a nice little part of town thats very clean and neat looking so it made us feel right at home. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was excellent. The food was very tasty and service was quick. I recommend this place!!!

This quaint restaurant has tasty Asian food and great service. Our first visit here, we had Thai wings, pad Thai, a southern Dojo roll and a lemon drop roll (our favorite). A bottle of Peach Sake finished it all off well! We really enjoyed the food and will be back again.

First time here and really enjoyed the food, which was at a decent price! I also enjoyed the quaint, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. We had the lemon drop roll, pad thai, Asian wings and the southern dojo roll. They were all delicious! I will definitely be back.

I like the creativity of this place its an americanized asian style restaurant. Ill be honest the sushi is grocery store level. If you wanted more fresh good quality sushi & wanted the experience that comes with it I would recommend Eez fusion right around the corner, but if you have $10-20 to your name & dont feel like making the trip to the grocery store I would go with this spot. I mainly went for the wings & got the sesame garlic and they were bland nothing to go crazy about but I will say the best part about this place is the customer service they have a very friendly and hard working staff. the place can get a bit crowded because its small but if the quality in food can match the service I think this place will do alot better.

We went to Birkdale Villgae and decided to have lunch here. First time eating here and really liked it. Good portions and quick service. Reasonable price for the amount of food that we got. I ordered the Birkdale Village Roll and Yummy Roll and Bao Bao (chicken). Will definitely visit again.
