Museum
The Sparks Heritage Museum is a captivating destination just a short drive from downtown Reno, offering an intriguing look into the history of Sparks and the Truckee Meadows region. The museum boasts indoor exhibits featuring a diverse array of artifacts and materials, as well as expansive outdoor displays including railroad-related items like a Chinese-built bridge and memorial, a steam engine, and Pullman car. Visitors can also snap photos next to the iconic 'Last Chance Joe' statue.
A nice little museum that is walking distance from the Nugget. Great distraction for an hour or two that has a great selection of historic Sparks items and memorabilia. Lots of items about the train lines across the region and how this developed Reno/Sparks into the towns they are today. Walking distance from the Nugget Casino and well worth your time to visit.

Honestly, we didn't actually go inside but on the day we visited (which was a Saturday) they had some cool old-school fire and police vehicles on display out front and the super cool volunteers even let ErisEsoterica play with the sirens and ring the bell on the fire truck!

Our group played an afternoon concert here! Great location and great people! Love playing there! Thank you!

Many memories from the Sparks, Nevada's past. Well organized with friendly volunteers. They take my offerings, allowing me to share things my mother and grandmother saved over the past almost 100 years!

Went to this place recently. We've been wanting to go here for awhile. This place is great! Alot of Sparks history and is educational. A fun place to go with the family.

This is a hidden gem in Sparks. We went to do some research on John Sparks and found so much more. I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you are a train enthusiast.

Nature & Parks
Fishing area
Sparks Marina Park is a 77-acre lake retreat with sandy beaches, walking and biking paths, and plenty of trees. It offers various recreational activities such as windsurfing, sailing, swimming, scuba diving, fishing, and boating. The park also features volleyball courts, a dog park, playgrounds, picnic areas, and showers. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the paved path that encircles the lake or launch paddle boards or kayaks from the beaches.
Lovely place to take family walks. Pet friendly. Beautiful beach lake. Playgrounds. Veterans Memorial. Clean restrooms. The ice cream truck was here 3/2/25 so probably as weather gets warmer, more vendors. Easy walking/running path. Area to fish of the pier/deck. Highly recommend

Brought some family to this park to enjoy some lunch. They have never been here. It was unanimous - a bit windy, but the park was great. We walked around the marina and enjoyed the birds, squirrels, and parasailors. The memorial honoring our fallen heroes was spectacular. Highly recommended.
Jon S — Google review
Great place to walk. I used to walk it everyday. Then 11 yrs ago my husband and I moved out of town. I’m back. I moved back to Reno 6 months ago. This was my first trip back to the marina. It has changed a lot over the past yrs. But it’s only gotten better. I know I will be back for more walks.
Nancy W — Google review
Paddleboarded the park. Lots going on and lots of activities with fun people. Paddleboarding area has a few areas that go under the bridge to Venice like areas. Wish it was larger, but its a park that is in a very accessible location near Reno. Some small sand beaches. Nice park.
Vicki B — Google review
Nice running track, 2 miles around so easy to keep track. Sometimes the fountains are working and the bathroom are irregularly closed. It would be nice to have more access to fountains which is typically a regular problem with all parks in Reno/sparks.
Natasha N — Google review
totally worth it!! Its slightly overcrowded but evening walk was awesome. The bird and ducks are plus
Vlog D — Google review
This is a great place to go for a walk. There are clean bathrooms and a brand new playground for those who have limited abilities. The dog walking is excellent, with an enclosed area for dogs to swim in the warm months and run with joyous freedom.
Eric R — Google review
Didn't get a bite. Walmart was out of nightcrawlers, so, I settled for red worms. A guy already there caught one on power bait. The fish were active on the surface, I don't know what they're feeding on. Ya see, my brother keeps insisting that I go fishing (I'd stopped going about 20 years ago, except when visting my other brother) and had bought me this fishing pole. So, ya see, I'm gotten to hav' ta catch a fish, I've been skunked the 4 or 5 times I've been out with it, see? I usually catch somethin', see?, but I ain't catchin' nutin', see? So, now you know! The fishin' stinks here, see? (I would da never bought this anyway, see? But I gotta catch a fish wid it, see?) Anyway, any fish that only eats power bait has got to be disturbed anyway, see?

Sports complex
Golden Eagle Regional Park, located in Sparks, Nevada, offers a variety of recreational activities for families and sports enthusiasts. The park features expansive natural areas perfect for leisurely walks, bike rides, and picnics amidst scenic surroundings. Additionally, it boasts large sports fields where kids can engage in soccer, baseball, and softball games. For sports enthusiasts, the park is an ideal destination to either participate in or spectate various games such as baseball, softball, lacrosse, and football.
What a great facility. Was here for my daughter's nationals baseball games.
Mike S — Google review
One of the nicest youth stadiums I've been to. Beautiful views around all of the fields. Fields are in pretty good condition. I can't even say snack bar like most fields. They have a REAL bar and grill. Food is amazing! Did I say bar, yes a full bar with huge selection of beer/drinks
Dan G — Google review
We love to take our furry friend here to get fresh air and exercise. Great trails/pathways. Very well maintained. Unfortunately, there are some humans that don't see the need to pick up after their pets....and it falls onto the park maintenance to keep it clean.
Shari S — Google review
Great Sports Complex. I've only played softball tournaments here. 5 fields, great snack bar that serves alcohol upstairs, outside snack bar downstairs/field level. Bathrooms are available, depending on the size of the tournament that day/weekend go asap. No square coolers are allowed inside. Only round top water only coolers with sprouts...🤷🏾‍♂️
Andre W — Google review
Was at the fields that had the restaurant and bar so for us the place was awesome. Fields are amazing. Place is super clean. Good parking. Food was great and the bar was great.

Golden Eagle regional Park is a beautiful facility. Softball, baseball, soccer, football basketball. You name it. They have it. It's a really cool spot when you're planning your sports. Even the cheerleaders come here to practice so if you haven't been out to Golden eagle regional Park, you need to take a drive. It's off of Vista. It's a wonderful facility
Nonda M — Google review
We walk our German Shepherd at this fantastic park every weekend at the crack of dawn. The park is unbelievably serene and peaceful, wildlife is everywhere -- cottontail and Jack rabbits and their little families, killdeer, little birdies, quail, and the occasional coyote are always around. Just simply beautiful to watch the sunrise creep over the hills, the warm sun taking the early morning chill away. One day, we hope to buy a house near this heavenly place. We haven't seen a game there, yet, that will happen soon! If I could, I would rate this park a million stars!

Great fields for the community- clean bathrooms. Playgrounds for kids, food too. Bring camp / lawn chairs. No bleachers to watch sports. Major problem is parking.

Art museum
Museums
Nestled just south of downtown Reno, the Nevada Museum of Art is a must-visit destination for art lovers and culture enthusiasts alike. This accredited museum boasts an impressive array of contemporary art, altered landscape photography, and traditional Western art. Although it may be small in size, it offers a rich selection of both permanent and traveling exhibits that captivate visitors with their diversity.
It’s not very large but absolutely jam packed with awesome exhibits! Definitely worth the time to take and explore. The Ichthyosaurus exhibit is phenomenal and I felt like a kid exploring it. They have a cute cafe (didn’t eat; can’t rate the food) but it was packed and a nice sitting area in the lobby. Gift shop was reasonably priced for a museum.
Jamie T — Google review
Nice museum. $15 entry fee. Free parking. Gift shop inside. No magnets or stickers :( Not busy at all. The art inside was interesting. I expected more, we were a little bit bored and hope they expand it.

I was fortunate enough to visit while the Dorothea Lange exhibit was there, and it was incredible. The Judith Lowry exhibit was just stunning. The museum has been recently renovated, and the gathering spaces were open and inviting. We visited two rooftop areas that are used for events with a great view of the city and valley. The ichthyosaur exhibit was very well presented with the video, fascinating stuff. My daughter was quite happy with the plush ichy she got from the well-stocked gift shop. I was a little disappointed that there were so few people there. With such a diverse selection of exhibits (Langston Hughes, Aboriginal art!), where were all the visitors? Anyway, I loved it and highly recommend a visit. Patronize the arts in every city you visit if you can!
W. W — Google review
Great museum with very interesting exhibits. Friendly staff. Free with NARM membership.

They had an excellent collection of Dorothea Lange photographs, a brilliant portrait of Ella Fitzgerald by Beauford Delaney, and an impressive collection of paintings by Judith Lowry. I think other reviewers here have been harsh. I quite enjoyed my afternoon at the Nevada Museum of Art.

Brewery
Food & Drink
Revision Brewing Company, located in Sparks, Nevada, is a craft brewery that embodies the spirit of continuous growth. Founded by Jeremy Warren and Jeb Taylor, the brewery offers a diverse selection of beers including prominently hop-forward brews as well as seasonal non-hoppy options like lagers, red ales, stouts, and barrel-aged offerings.
This brewery was amazing. Their trepels were exceptional, had two of them. They were such great tasting beers. They had a cooled area and an outdoor area. We went to 7 breweries while we were on our trip here and Revision was one of the best.
Julio H — Google review
Whenever I first step inside, my initial impression is that it’s just another small, unassuming local self-serving brew bar. But as you venture further through the doors, you discover that this place has been transformed into something truly special—a hidden gem that embodies the spirit of Brewer’s greatness. The music blasts through the speakers, with Social Distortion setting the tone. People gather under the warm glow of string lights, forming their own little communities. Some play corn hole others sit on benches, chatting and laughing. It’s all about communication, connection, and camaraderie. Everything you need is right there—no waitresses, no sponsors, no frills. The only things tying everyone together are cold beers and great music. And that’s exactly why I appreciate this place. It’s authentic, timeless, and enduring. My friends if I had any will keep coming back for that very reason. ~ and so should you. ~ cheers

Super new add to our Favorite brew spot: fresh pizza!! (And hot dogs too). A terrific toasted crust in just a few minutes. Nice tang in the crust and wonderfully (lightly) loaded with veggies. This is a terrific add to the beloved beer spot!!

Awesome Brewery with really solid beer ! The Beer Tender was kind until she stopped helping my Dad to help one of her regulars. Major turn off to me. But, all the games outside were super cool. Way to go Lads !
Caleb P — Google review
One of my favorite spots to visit every time I'm in the area!
Matthew G — Google review
Great beer, great bartenders, great atmosphere. What more can you ask for!!! Been here many many times while visiting Reno. Easily the best beer in town. I am lucky in that we get a good offering if Revision beer where we live. But if we come to Reno, we always make the visit. It has become a required stop. The brewery is huge compared to a lot of the others locally. They have a nice seating area near the bar and and even larger area in the back by the brewing facilities. There are games available like foosball, air hockey, and pool. While not large, the restrooms have always been clean.

Brewery
Situated in downtown Reno, 10 Torr Distilling and Brewing stands out for its unique vacuum distillation process, a rarity among American distilleries. This method allows them to preserve delicate flavors from fermentation, grains, and botanicals used in their spirits. The establishment offers an extensive selection of freshly brewed beers alongside house-made cocktails. Visitors can enjoy the contemporary interior with a depiction of the distillation process and a spacious shaded patio.
Went for the first time with friends and family to do a paint night that Heart and Soul put on. Let me just say the vibe of this place is top-notch and super festive for the holidays. I don't drink, but my friends were racing about the holiday menu, especially the gingerbread drink with a cookie on top. Music was killer, couldn't stop from chair dancing!! Lights, atmosphere, and one bartender that can do it all. Just had a fantastic Monday night. Maybe throw a few NA mocktails onto that holiday list. 😉😊
Holly H — Google review
10 Torr Distilling and Brewing is one of Reno’s coolest hangout spots — a perfect mix of great drinks, good vibes, and friendly faces. The staff here are always welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely make you feel at home. The atmosphere is modern, clean, and lively, with the perfect music to match the energy. All the beer and spirits are made in-house, and you can really taste the craftsmanship and creativity in every pour. The flavors are bold, fresh, and perfectly balanced. There’s always something fun going on — from special events and live music to food trucks like tacos, noodles, and more. You can even check out their app to see upcoming events and new releases. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Reno, 10 Torr is an absolute must. Great people, great drinks, and an awesome environment — it’s everything you want in a brewery and distillery.
Alan D — Google review
We love 10Torr! Always have lavender lemonade in the house. We had an odd experience lately when we brought home some lavender lemonade cans, and something was off with them as they poured out a bit thicker with some chunks… I brought the cans back and showed them and had a good discussion with the head brewer/distiller. They of course took care of us and sent me home with new ones. I Will always support this business and have never had a bad experience!
Jamie S — Google review
My friend Brian B was a guest brewer. Great beer as always. Ask for the B3. Only issue I have with 10 Tor is the bar service is a little slow. Either not enough bar tenders for the event or they are making these complicated fantasy drinks that take too much time. Not that they are probably delicious, but I don't know. That's why 4 instead of 5. Good brewery.
Terry S — Google review
I don't fancy myself much of a vodka or whiskey person, but I found the spirits here very drinkable. In fact, I went home with a couple of cocktail packs as well as bottles of whiskey, coffee liqueur, and gin. Yum! Apparently the distillery/brewery has something happening here most every night of the week--think music, trivia, food trucks--and they're starting up a brunch service! Can't wait to check that out.
Melissa H — Google review
Love this place. So fun, nice people, delicious drinks, regardless of whether you prefer beer or cocktails. We had a tour and now we have a better appreciation of their hard work and talent.
Sarah C — Google review
We all loved the wide selection of beers and cocktails—pretty fascinating to have a brewery/distillery!! The ambiance is great in the place, and the inclusivity with details such as the multi-gender, alien-loving bathroom signage made me smile.
Eric “ — Google review
There are much better bars to go to in Reno. Literally just pick one. I personally prefer the midtown bars. This bar is not in a very good area, and is poorly managed. 6 months to a year ago there would be management that was on top of things when I went in. Now management is nowhere to be found, and when you do find the manager, she's useless.

Italian restaurant
The Olive Garden Italian Restaurant is a popular chain restaurant that serves delicious Italian standards such as pastas and salads. The restaurant is family-friendly and located one block from the Truckee River.
Not being familiar with the area's restaurants we asked the cab driver to take us to the best Italian Restaurant in the greater area. He then asked if money was an issue...I told the dude money is no concern, we just want the best Italian food there is, so take us to the restaurant that consistantly hits homeruns. Well, we went about 2 miles or so and he pulled right up front to the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant! WOW! Who'd of thought. We ordered a multitude of things but it was the pasta dish that was simply Amazing! 5 star experience every time! ☆☆☆☆☆

Giovanni was our server on 8/15 he didn’t introduce himself just asked what can he get started for us? We ordered Lasagna Fritta for apps and mains seafood Alfredo, chicken/shrimp carbonara, and eggplant parm. When the mains came, the server or busser never took the plates away before the mains came so it was a whole mess. Lasagna fritta was good, crunchy and good flavor. Seafood Alfredo and carbonara was so sweet we didn’t like the taste of it. The eggplant parm was good. Breadsticks were very hard and minestrone very sour taste didn’t enjoy either of those items. We never got asked by the server for a refill of breadsticks, salad, or water. We felt rushed throughout our dinner about half an hour he asked if we needed boxes. Like we just got the food? We haven’t been here in a while, but last time we were here the cake was written with frosting on the plate “happy birthday” and candle we never got any of that. Pretty much was like here is your free cake and server left. Not sure if he is new but he just gave us to go boxes usually the server puts the food in the box for us and we saw several servers do it during that night but he didn’t. It was an interesting experience.

Received the text for never-ending pasta bowls, so of course I had to go. I absolutely love their new spicy marinara sauce with any of their pastas. The soups are always good as are their unlimited salads and breads ticks. Our server Michelle is great, attentive, and patient. We were there at about 4pm on a Monday and the restaurant was quiet and pleasant. We also purchased 10 meals to go and a gallon of the zuppa soup. Highly recommended...Thumbs up!
Jon S — Google review
Greetings upon opening the doors were pleasant, staff sat us immediately. Food was brought out quickly however I would have liked to finish my soup before the main entree was delivered and got cold. My husband and I had a great experience overall.
Jewelz R — Google review
I live in a small town where there’s no Olive Garden, so my family were all looking forward to this visit on the unlimited pasta bowls. We must’ve gotten there after a big rush @ 2pm because the guy that sat us down was so overwhelmed, running all over the place, and all stressed out (bad welcome!). Our server was very attentive at first, but by the time my family of 5 we all needed refills he was busy with other tables and completely abandoned us. So only 3 of us had the endless pasta but it took forever to get our 2nd bowl and we were not done when our server brought us to go boxes… I was confused didn’t think the bottomless pasta was to go, so even thought we were not finished we took it to go so I could eat it peacefully in the car and not being rushed out of there. I love your food but it’s not nice to rush and ignore people. Disappointed!
Edna V — Google review
This location is similar to most other franchise locations. The staff are a sunny addition-- friendly, helpful, polite and patient. We enjoyed a great meal without any pressure to turn the table, which was particularly nice. Ample parking, well-maintained, the order was accurate and the food was hot, tasty and fresh.
Buddy D — Google review
My visit to Olive Garden was perfect. I had the never ending pasta bowl, and all my pasta, sauce, and topping combos came out in a timely manner and were very tasty. My server was friendly and attentive even as they started getting busier as the lunch rush picked up. Great day at the Garden.

Dined in tonight and my server was the lovely Melisa O, she was super kind and had an award winning smile despite the chaos of a Saturday night. Even though I was getting a small meal she was just as attentive as if it was a family of 5. I felt very welcomed and had a great night. Just what I needed today, sometimes a better day is just a smile away.

It's really hard to get Handicapped parking here due to non handicapped people using someone placard and I found out why. I had dinner and lunch twice and they were so good. Service people are great and maybe next time, I'll try the slots. I haven't tried the Steakhouse yet but am very determined to see how this goes. They even have a Banana Split to try out but it may require not eating dinner before from what I'm told.

Checked in this afternoon; pretty impressed so far. Right off of freeway, helpful and courteous staff, great room at 1/2 the price of signature properties. Decent size casino, won some $/bets. Bathroom is good size, not cramped. Not much counter area but ironing board placed outside bathroom door works fine. Large roomy shower with great water pressure and hot water immediately; multi stream adjustable shower head. Room is very large, mini fridge also. We asked for a microwave in the room at check in and it was there when we opened the room door. One of the nicest budget hotels I've stayed at, will definitely try to stay here during subsequent visits to the Reno area

I have always loved staying here!!! Super awesome staff! The rooms are super clean, the beds and pillows are comfy, the place is safe! And you get an amazing view of the Marina!! The housekeeping are the hardest friendliest workers of any motel/hotel I have stayed in 38 states!! If I could move in permanently I would!! Read my other reviews and you will see I am not just saying it!! Love this place!!! Excellent pricing even on busy in season weekends!! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in this City!! 💜🩷🤗

I loved how simple the hotel was and so clean! The separation of the casino to another building next door was amazing. You didn't have to smell cigarettes or stale smoke if you didn't want to while moving about. The most extreme shower pressure which was awesome! It was quiet and easy to get to as well!

I recently stayed here for 2 nights in a double queen room. The room was fairly nice considering the age of the property. The bathroom was on the small side with very little counter space for toiletries, but the AC worked well. The casino is much smaller than the Peppermill (its sister property where we usually stay), but they did have a great variety of slot machines, which we enjoyed. We'll definitely come back. The only downside was that I emailed the hosts twice and never received a response, which was disappointing. Another negative was early wednesday morning they property landscaping company was out there blowing down the premises w a leaf blower that was very loud. All around the hotel and casino building. Would be nice if they did this later in day when guests arent trying to sleep.

This was the best breakfast I've had I'm a while, hands down! We dined here a month ago. The service was top tier, the blueberry pancakes were 🔥, and I ordered the Racy Tracy, it was oh so good!

Very Kewl. Popeye omelette ..SO much flavor. 30 minute wait to get seated on a Saturday morning. They text you when they're ready for you. Mango Mimosa was damn good. Kinda pricey, but good. Also Troy's twice baked scramble was super good according to Mama. Guy at the check in desk was kindof a douschbag. He was easy to ignore though. Kaitlin B was an excellent waitress!

Our server was pretty good. Our water and cups were not even remotely clean, though he did remedy that. My burrito was exceptional, if overpriced. My potatoes were extremely disappointing; the cook should have used a lot less heat and a bit more oil—they were burned on the outside and almost raw on the inside. The interior noise level was through the room, and for the price, I expect far better quality seating. Overall, this place is just alright.

We had an early dinner here with another couple last Sunday. The bar and dining room were almost empty when we arrived at 5:30. We chose to eat on the patio, which we had to ourselves, to enjoy the lovely day. We shared a pitcher of margaritas, our server offered to add a shot of mango flavor to my wife’s glass. The chips and salsa were excellent, thick and crunchy with a perfect level of heat to the salsa. I ordered the Patriot Plate (chicken enchiladas) with green sauce and whole beans, and I loved every bite. My wife thought the senior quesadilla plate was a bit dry,but it had plenty of chicken, and our friends were happy with their choices. Serving sizes were ample but not excessive. When we left an hour later (we’d been up since 4 AM for the balloon races) the dining room and bar were packed, it looked like a couple of large groups had arrived while we ate. I picked Bertha’s based mostly on the good reviews and attractive photos on Maps (and the fact that it’s open on Sundays), and it lived up to my expectations. The decor is homey and interesting without feeling overdone. Our server was helpful and friendly. Best of all, I loved my food.

We had dinner there last night and it happened to be the restaurant’s 41 anniversary. We had such a good time. The food was great, the service was wonderful and we experienced a live mariachi band play too !! We will definitely be back next time we are in Reno.

Awesome authentic Mexican with great ambiance. Home made most everything. Service is slow but worth it

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bertha Miranda’s is a Reno staple! The queso is a must, portions are generous, and the service is always friendly. Authentic Mexican food done right.

This is the best authentic Mexican I have ever had! They have chips salsa and waters waiting for you at the table before you even sit down. Now that’s service! I got the flautas (2 chicken and 2 beef) and they were the best ever- they were so good we came back for a second night in a row (our last night on our vacation in Reno) and I got the SAME MEAL- yes it’s that good! The Mojito was also they best - mint muddled perfectly throughout and so FRESH! Don’t miss this hidden gem right across from the national automobile museum which is also worth a visit!

OMG SO GOOD . I’m kind of a picky eater but I loved everything about this place . The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is AMAZING and the food is BOMB . I came here on Labor Day and came back again today . I got the viva Mexico with chicken for both the enchilada and the taco . My boyfriend had the hat and it was also amazing. The steak taquitos were so goood I had to order my own today , I wasn’t that hungry but definitely wanted to bring the whole restaurant with me because I’m not from the area . The cola was delicious. A BIG FAN of the greeen salsa and chips . I knew the food was gonna be good once I had the chips and salsa , they’re not playing around !!!!! Will come back here every time I’m out here .

The food was great. We asked for Pico de gallo and it was delicious with the chips and added to the food.
