Live music venue
G.A.R. Hall, originally a one-room schoolhouse and later a meeting place for Civil War veterans, is now a cultural center that hosts music shows. The Voices in the Valley series promotes folk and bluegrass music. While it's being renovated to include ADA bathrooms, some may find navigating the stairs to the basement bathrooms challenging. The venue offers an intimate and respectful atmosphere for performances, with audiences praising its cozy and personable ambiance.
The Dave Mayfield Parade Christmas Extravaganza was the best show. Never a dull moment. G.A.R. Hall was an amazing historic quaint venue.

This venue is a hidden gem for anyone who loves a great concert. The building is full of character, and the atmosphere inside is unforgettable. For folk music fans, catching a show here is something you won’t want to miss. Be sure to arrive early to grab a good parking spot and score a prime seat before the music starts.

This is an excellent small venue to see a live performance in. Saw artist Caitlin Canty and she was fantastic. Acoustics are great. It was a GA show but they have tables and chairs for everyone. Seats a little over 100. Very intimate setting in a building that was originally built in 1851 as a single room school house. They have added on a room that has a full bar and and serves some snacks. Conveinent parking across the street. Great little music venue.

We saw a concert here last night and it was wonderful! What a beautiful little historic venue. We’ll definitely be back!

We got to see Heather Maloney and High Tea here last night. It was a wonderful venue for their folk music style and clear voices. The caretakers of this Hall have put their heart and soul into creating a beautiful environment for artists. The accoustics were great, the bar was reasonably price, the bathrooms are recently renovated and spotlessly clean. I have allergy issues with old, moldy buildings, but this place had no triggers. When the A/C came on, it worked well and also smelled clean. Parking across the street was super easy. We will look for excuses to come back to this venue even though it is 4 hours from home.

Such a warm, intimate venue. Friendly staff. Check-in for a show was quick & easy. We appreciate the world-class musicians who are booked here.

Great historical venue with an updated bar section. They have cider (if you're also gluten free!). More importantly, they curate really good concerts.

Attended Cats On Holiday concert. Historic venue built in 1850. About 75 seats at tables set up. Bar onsite.

Farmers' market
Sights & Landmarks
Szalay's Farm & Market, located near the Towpath Trail, has a rich history dating back to 1931. Originally a vegetable farm, it now specializes in sweet corn and offers a diverse selection of fresh fruits and vegetables at its market. On weekends, visitors can enjoy roasted corn and ice cream. The family-friendly atmosphere includes music and food stands on weekends, as well as seasonal attractions like a corn maze in the fall. Nearby Howe Farmers Market is another option for fresh produce.
Beware it is cash only. We drove by on our way to a hike and wondered what all of the traffic was for. Once we stopped to check it out we found what a neat place this farmers market is. They had a lot of great looking fruits and veggies and other groceries. Very cool find. Looks like they had a whole lot more going on as well.
Paul B — Google review
Absolutely love this little farm, with live music and their corn is simply the best. A turkey burger or salmon burger and some ice cream with fruits to finish it up. At least once a summer we have to come down. Their fall time it's definitely the best time but it's always a good time.

Here for fall date night. Lots of parking. All sorts of people. Dog friendly. Great selection of fresh fruit and veggies. Had musics on. Tons of pumpkins & bees if you’re at the tables (beware). Cute little kid section with toys. Corn maze. Didn’t see the bathrooms. They might be porta potties- not sure. Had a great time !

Fun atmosphere. Delicious hotdogs, corn and lemonade. Great selection of fresh produce, bakery, sauces, jams, etc… we enjoyed the live music, fun house and hayride. Pumpkins for miles, large selection of unusual ones too. Go early to get a seat on a glider!

Szalay’s was such a fun stop on our anniversary trip! We went through the corn maze and had caramel apples outside. Only problem is that they only take cash, and their ATM had about 20 people in line to use it. Note for the owners, you don’t want to put such an inconvenient step between yourself and the money you want people to give to you. 🥴 Other than that, we had a great time. Lots to see and do. But bring cash!
Jessica U — Google review
Wow! Talk about alot of pumpkins and the variety. Nice market with lots of fresh vegetables and so many mums. This place only excepts cash or check but does have an atm in store.
Karen D — Google review
Super cute farm. Love the mini fall fest they have. The corn maze was so much fun. All of the produce looks amazing and grown locally.
Joe — Google review
Very nice market, wide variety of fresh vegetables and fruits, breads, and more. Take note, they only accept cash or check! So bring cash and or use the ATM on sight. Great place for pumpkins too!

Visitor center
The Boston Mill Visitor Center, located in a former store from around 1836, is the main facility for visitors to the park. The center offers exhibits on boat-building and maps among other things. While prices may be higher than some would like, the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and informative - making it a great starting point for any hiking trail. The atmosphere of the center is clean and welcoming with regular maintenance done.
We visited on a rainy Saturday in mid-April 2025 around noon. There were many cars in the parking lot but there were still plenty of spaces on the far end. The sign is right in front of the visitor center if you wanted to take pictures. There are multiple doors you can use to enter the visitor center. The visitor center is very nice and looks really new. Not sure when it was last renovated. There were a number of volunteers and ranger staff when we arrived. Everyone was there to help answer questions or provide suggestions on things to do in the park. The multiple National Park Cancellation stamps could all be found on the left hand side of the book store. It's a pretty tight little corner they put it in. The store is in the center with exhibits on the left and right of it. There is also an upstairs with a bunch of more activities and many focused more on younger kids which was great. Perfect for a rainy day. There are also a couple of family bathrooms upstairs as well. The regular bathrooms are just outside the visitor center in a separate building. While we were there the train actually went by the building which was pretty awesome. I was quick enough to grab a quick shot of it through the upstairs window. There wasn't enough time to run outside to get a picture. We also got our junior ranger books here and you could sit upstairs and work on it. It's easiest if you go out and do some of the hikes and sites in order to complete it. Overall we would probably not visit this visitor center again unless you needed something to do on a rainy day. There are so many other things to see in the national park. We stayed there for maybe 45 mins total. There are things to see outside the visitor center too that is all walking distance.

At this location you can hike and bike on several trails! My favorite trail is Blue Hen Falls. It’s a great combination of steep steps and good for if you need to get into some shape. Then at the end, you can get a nice little relaxing treat for your hiking efforts at the falls location. They have some benches and you can go right down to the fall itself to relax. The water there is usually mostly low tide all year round.

Stopped in and were welcomed by friendly park employees. Very informative and helpful. Lots of interesting information about the area and the parks history. Also a really nice children’s space on the second story. Very interactive and fun for our toddler. The area next to the river is beautiful. We were very glad we stopped in. Thank you to all the people working there!

Visitor center was nice, very clean, wellkept, has public restrooms, AC, Has a gift shop and also had park rangers that were willing to answer any and all questions. There is a bunch of educational stuff everywhere And there's also an area specifically for children upstairs. Love this place!

Nice trail head wit on site National Park employees. Nice restrooms. Has displays and goods for sale. Pick up the Train at this location goes every 2 hours on weekends only and only during certain times. Get your book stamped here also. Nice trails here also!
Kevin W — Google review
Sadly, it was closed due to the shutdown. The outside area was very nice! They have lots of parking including an RV parking lot across the street. Thankfully the Conservancy was open to purchase souvenirs. The train came through while we were there, so that was great timing!

One of the nicest National park visitor centers we’ve visited. Very clean and the rangers and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Love the unique look of the depot. In 2025 closed on thanksgiving day.

Good guide there to help orient us for our first visit to this spread out National Park. This is where you get your National Park Passport stamps. We saw a park Ranger deputize a new Jr. Rangers there! Right next to the train station for the train that passes throughout the park.

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Ski & Snowboard Areas
Boston Mills Ski Area offers a variety of trails suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all skill levels. Additionally, there is a terrain park and an area for snow tubing. Visitors can enjoy the fast-paced slopes while adhering to COVID-related restrictions. Although some may find the safety measures to be excessive, they do not significantly impact the overall experience at this ski resort.
I love it. Lots of locals, specially young people and teens. Easy sloop was great to improve, the intermediate ones were also good my husband and kids said. Customer service awesome! Remember to use the Epic card for discount in food and rental equipment.

Decent place to ski if you don't wanna drive too far from Cleveland. Can get kinda crowded on the weekends or on the evenings during the week when there are a lot of ski clubs present.

The yearly art festival is worth seeing. They have artists from across America attending and selling their works. I would estimate that there were between 200 and 250 artists. Highly recommended!

Well operated establishment with a decent amount of verity bills for Ohio. Great employees that are helpful and knowledgeable.

It is what it is - a small, midwestern ski hill. Want to learn to ski? Great place. Have a few beers and ski with friends? Perfect. Let the young kids go around with their friends? This is the place. My kids and I learned to ski at BMBW - and just took our first family trip to CO on the EPIC pass. Its a great system that has let my family of five (not wealthy) become skiers.

Slopes were so easy, got the whole resort done in a few hours. Tiny resort. Why would they call a slope on here a black diamond? Lift lines are moderately long and this resort is full of newbies, so don’t expect much from this resort, but this is a good place to practice skiing or touch up on skills at the beginning of the season. Honestly this is not worth it as an experienced skier.

My first time skiing since I've moved to the area. I came to the Boston mills side of the resort. It's alright, I suppose. Good for beginners. Snow was nice. Crowded AF with kids today. (Saturday). I'm usually a solo skiier. If I come back, it will be a weekday. There is no changing room except for the bathroom here. Put on your snow pants etc in the car or before you come.

Went to the Boston Mills ArtFest preview show yesterday and it was by far one of best art festivals ive ever been to. It was my first time and I can't wait for next year. It's amazing that it has been happening every year for the past 50 some years. It was the 49th annual one...but without covid, it would have been I believe the 51st one. There were absolutely so many amazing artists there. I purchased a few small pieces...1 for me and 2 for friends, all originals. The food was REALLY good. The service was wonderful and really can't ask for a better time. I really hope they never stop hosting this art festival.
