The Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum in Wheeling is a nostalgic destination that offers a delightful journey for visitors of all ages. Housed in a beautifully restored Victorian-era schoolhouse, the museum features extensive exhibits of classic toys and operating model train layouts. It's a place where you can step back in time and immerse yourself in the charm of vintage toys from different eras. The museum also offers interactive displays, including slot cars, making it an engaging experience for everyone.
The grandchildren 5 and 7 really enjoyed this . Each room had hands on activities in addition to walls of museum items to look at. My husband and I enjoyed going down memory lane seeing toys from the past. We used Groupon for adult tickets.
Lynn C — Google review
We happened on this museum after seeing a sign for it when traveling along highway 70... It happened there was also a sale with vendors the same day we stopped by... We had a nice time... it was a great place to stop... and kid friendly as well...
Rhonda B — Google review
This place was so much fun! As a board game collector the game room was AWESOME! I loved how so many games were opened with their pieces and boards on display. I really wish the monopoly collection had been on display. The cool toys were so much fun to look at. The radio control trucks with the working platform was a blast to play with! I also love trains and the layouts with the cool buttons to push to make different things happen. I was a happy "kid!" The building, an old school, that the museum is in is pretty cool as well. Would love to get to visit again sometime when I have more time to look at everything in more depth.
Adam L — Google review
Nostalgic & full of items that will bring a smile to your face. Great place to visit & reminisce of one’s childhood.
Kaleb B — Google review
The Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum is a place full of nostalgia and fun. It features an impressive collection of miniature trains, classic toys, and interactive exhibits that appeal to both children and adults. The best part is how it combines history with entertainment, as each piece has its own charm and memories from different eras. The staff is very friendly and happy to share details about the displays. Definitely a must-visit for train enthusiasts and families looking for a unique experience.
Alonso M — Google review
A well run museum of toys and model trains. It was very cool to see a HO DM & IR Yellowstone locomotive! Very clean museum. I had an enjoyable visit!
Kirk M — Google review
Visiting the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum is a fun and nostalgic experience. The old-school toy and train museum is literally located inside a former school, giving it a very quaint ambiance. This place had several rooms full of old dolls, action figures, toy vehicles, pin ball machines, Christmas villages, legos, antique artifacts, and so much more. Each room had a different theme and can bring back so many nostalgic memories for people of all ages. The most impressive part was the massive model train sets that went through different themed villages. There was even a model amusement park with train roller coasters. The staff there is also very friendly and willing to answer all questions. It was a very fun experience and one I would highly recommend for people of all ages.
Frenite — Google review
Absolutely amazing! We loved this place. Packed with toys, but very neatly and attractively organized. There are a lot of things to view, but also a lot of things to play and do. The museum and individual rooms are arranged in a very family friendly way. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This place also has the BEST gift shop grab bags I've ever purchased!

West Virginia Independence Hall

West Virginia Independence Hall, originally constructed as a customs house in 1860, played a significant role in the statehood campaign. This striking sandstone structure housed the Wheeling Custom House, post office, and federal court before West Virginia was recognized as a state. It served as a venue for heated political debates and constitutional convention sessions that eventually led to West Virginia's statehood in 1863.
The staff was so friendly and helpful! Also, the displays were absolutely gorgeous! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area that loves history ❤️
Marina R — Google review
I was the only person touring, and the staff were very nice and friendly. They asked if I wanted to watch a 15 minute documentary, made sure to let me know the layout of the building with elevators/bathrooms/what each floor had, and stopped to explain the history of the main rooms. My favorite part was the documentary, learning about the court room area, and the make your own flag room! I bought postcards from the giftshop.
Kian M — Google review
I'm passionate about history. I despised it in primary school, but now, I cannot get enough. When I go to places like Independence Hall, it warms my heart. The people who have taken such time and care to restore and preserve historic sites such as this one deserve great accolade. This is the site of West Virginia's birth, and they do a great job of telling the story. In addition you will find beautiful antique pieces throughout. This building is beautifully restored. The museum is FREE. The staff were very friendly, and the gift shop is definitely one of the most affordable. Travel tip: there is free parking in a small lot next to the building if you are visiting.
Sam S — Google review
Cool to see how WV broke off from VA and became the first and only state to break off from another state
Hunter S — Google review
Awesome museum for the birthday place of the great state of West Virginia. Staff super nice and full of history themselves. We will definitely stop again
Nathan S — Google review
This place is a fantastic museum and it is free! Unbelievable, but true. Four floors of jam packed History. The woman who greeted us was welcoming, pleasant, and fun to talk to. We especially enjoyed her made up British accent.
Rob B — Google review
Small but interesting museum. All about west Virginia
Armando M — Google review
This place is filled with history! The receptionist was very knowledgeable about the building and could answer just about any questions we had. This is a definite must if you are visiting this area!

Oglebay Institute Glass Museum

Mentioned on

Museum
Art Museums
The Oglebay Institute Glass Museum is a tribute to Wheeling's rich history in glassmaking, showcasing over 3,500 pieces of locally made glass and china. One of its highlights is the famous Sweeney Punch Bowl, the largest cut glass piece globally. Visitors can witness live demonstrations and workshops at the museum's glass studio to gain insight into the art of glassmaking.
It all was beautiful!!! We found the glass blower and his wife to be very informative and so very nice. Highly recommend visiting here. Loved It!
John B — Google review
The collection focuses on glass made in Wheeling WV, which is highly reputed for glassmaking. The quality of the collection does not disappoint, as they have many impressive items on display. The glass museum is part of a larger estate, which can keep tourists busy for a little while. While the museum has excellent collections, it lacked explanations or interactivity. Cases after cases of glass: nice to look at, not sure I learned much. Instead of devoting half of the building to a gift shop, perhaps the museum part deserves more space and a revamped approach to engaging visitors.
Philippe — Google review
How neat! I have a love for glass. Especially carnival glass. We learned a lot about glass making in the area over the years and we got to look at absolutely beautiful pieces. We visited during the festival of the lights so we also walked the grounds and checked those out. They are beautiful! We bought the tickets that included the Mansion tour and that was interesting also! We definitely enjoyed our visit from Michigan!
Ashley B — Google review
We have been going to Oglebay for many years now around the Christmas holidays. We have always loved shopping at what used to be the Oglebay Carriage House and now the Oglebay Institute Glass Museum. They have some nice Christmas items there, however just not the same shopping experience. We definitely miss what Oglebay used to be compared to what it is today.
Rhonda J — Google review
We were surprised that it cost $15..00 to visit the house and museum. There's no discount for seniors or vets. But once we got into the museum we were very pleased with the displays. The light and the color that were reflected was super. The historical information posted on the walls about Wheeling being the glass factory capitol for so many years.
William K — Google review
Beautiful exhibit of locally made glass. Gift shop items were a little pricey, but definitely a worthwhile trip. We went during the Christmas festival of lights and it was very nice. The lodge is beautiful and the price for an overnight stay is very reasonable.
Christopher T — Google review
Interesting place to visit amazing to learn so much about the history of making glass.Displays were nice ,great place to visit staff friendly, also pictures of gift shop
Frank M — Google review
Got to see glass blowers and evolution of glass in wheeling. People are great too. All items in gift shop not local though.

Wheeling Suspension Bridge

Mentioned on

Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Bridges
The Wheeling Suspension Bridge, dating back to 1849, is a historic marvel that once held the title of the world's largest suspension bridge. Stretching over 1,000 feet across the Ohio River, it connects downtown Wheeling to Wheeling Island. Due to its age, there are restrictions on vehicle weight and spacing. This iconic structure offers breathtaking views and serves as a tangible link to the city's rich history.
The bridge was closed to vehicles when I visited but open to pedestrians. There were some people roaming around that were homeless or appeared to be on the verge of homeless. I wouldn’t recommend going to this area as a female alone or after dark. Which is unfortunate since the bridge is lighted up quite nicely at night and the reflection on the Ohio River is beautiful.
Brian — Google review
I just like seeing suspension bridges. This was a very nice stop on a PA to OH and back road trip on Labor Day weekend. There is a road closed sign in front of the bridge but that’s just for vehicles. You can walk or bike across it. It was a beautiful day. We really enjoyed walking across and seeing the river. There is no fee and no ticket required. We parked on the street a half a block away. This is on the National Road heritage trail - there is a little info sign about the history of the bridge and the trail right there too. If you are parked on the side where heritage port is, you are crossing over to Wheeling Island and vice versa.
Miss V — Google review
The Wheeling Suspension Bridge is a nice local landmark and great spot for a walk. The bridge was built in 1849 and has so much history to it. Near the entrance, there’s a sign that gives a lot of helpful information about the history and construction of the bridge. They were actually doing renovations to the bridge when I was there, but that didn’t hinder the experience. When walking across the bridge, there’s great views of the city of Wheeling, the Ohio River, and Wheeling Island. It’s a cool landmark to visit if you’re in the area.
Frenite — Google review
I enjoyed my chance to walk across the Wheeling Suspension Bridge. What a piece of history is this beautiful bridge!
John W — Google review
A great historic site in the midst of an historic town. Easy to walk to everything, lots of small shops to visit, and a lot of great architecture.
Dierk B — Google review
Was so beautiful and you can walk out on the bridge! Its free no tickets
Jamie B — Google review
It was the largest suspension bridge in the world from 1849 until 1851. The Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the main channel of the Ohio River at Wheeling, West Virginia. The bridge was a very interesting engineering piece of history. We wanted to see the bridge but it was under renovation. They were doing bridge repair, so the bridge was closed to motor vehicles. We could only walk on one side of the street near the bridge and get some good pictures. Hope it reopens.
Andy N — Google review
Very interesting stop to make if you can. Couple of nice restaurants and pubs close to the Wheeling side.

Oglebay Good Zoo

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled within Oglebay Park in Wheeling, United States, the Oglebay Good Zoo has been a beloved family destination since its establishment in 1977. This expansive zoo is home to a diverse array of rare and endangered species, offering visitors the chance to encounter animals from around the world. In addition to classic exhibits, guests can partake in animal encounters for an up-close experience with certain creatures. The zoo also provides various nature programs catering to both children and adults.
Last weekend, my wife, my son, and I attended a 7-year-old’s birthday party at Oglebay Good Zoo, and we had a fantastic experience. There's a special party room where we enjoyed food, sang "Happy Birthday," and even got to see some animals up close right inside the room. The zoo itself has both indoor and outdoor areas. While it's not a large zoo, the animals are unique and very interesting. The staff was incredibly helpful, well-organized, and attentive throughout our visit. One of the highlights was when everyone went to a separate room for an animal presentation. A staff member introduced three different animals that the kids could touch, and adults had the option to step out if they preferred. The presenter was amazing—very knowledgeable and great with the kids. Overall, I highly recommend Oglebay Good Zoo as a place to celebrate children’s birthday parties. It was fun, educational, and really well run.
Josh E — Google review
Wonderful little zoo for children. My 1st grader LOVED IT! Not so big that you feel like you’re missing anything & the animals were all so active during the day we were there. We got to see the cheetahs run & eat! While on our trip I lost my prescription sunglasses… they not only found them for me but mailed them to my house! We will be back very soon!!
Karita M — Google review
This is a great zoo! We have been here several times and we enjoyed it every time. The kids favorite is of course the 3 red Panda's. The pens are clean and are nice environments. Must see the albino Alligator, the Snow Leopard, the Maned Wolf, and the Kangaroo display.
TRic S — Google review
This zoo is so cute and it's a great retirement home for the animals! I went with some friends to do the behind-the-scenes golf cart led tour and it was fabulous. Brin was our guide - she was so knowledgeable, funny, and nice. Excellent people skills! The facility is so well maintained and we got to tour the animal hospital as well. They take really good care of the animals here, even if it is a smaller zoo. The larger resort surrounding the zoo was also so beautiful! I hope to visit the resort for their holiday lights in the future.
Madelyn Y — Google review
My mom used to take us all the time in the 80s. Now I take my daughter and we both love going! The staff is friendly and informative. One young lady stopped and told us all about the personalities of the Tamarins. I appreciate the zoos efforts to grow, evolve, and offer better experiences for the animals.
Gretchen C — Google review
So many unique animals, particularly the rare maned wolves and red pandas, that you can see up close and learn about. The zoo has a fun and vibrant atmosphere and also has plenty of educational opportunities about animals, nature and conservation. Whether you're a resident of WV or just passing through, absolutely worth the price of admission and then some.
Roza I — Google review
I surprised my husband with the maned wolf encounter for his birthday and it was an absolutely fantastic experience! We got to spend time with their two beautiful maned wolves Betts and Luna, feeding them and participating in a couple of fun activities. It was such a unique experience learning about these fascinating animals up close. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and made the whole visit even more enjoyable. The wolves do have a bit of a skunky smell that they use to mark their territory but it is not that bad, don't let that stop you from booking this encounter. Every animal we saw looked heathy and well cared for, and the behind the scenes tour showed us just how much thought and effort goes into making the wolves comfortable. This may be a smaller zoo but it's full of heart and worth the visit, highly recommend!
Mary T — Google review
Wife and myself greatly enjoyed the animals at the zoo. Not a really large zoo, but understand it is growing soon.

A nice clean park, with beautiful views, they have a splash pad now for kids. We were here on a Saturday afternoon and we didn’t feel unsafe at any point. There actually wasn’t very many people around. There were a couple of homeless people, however they weren’t disturbing anyone. They also host a number of events/concerts here.
Kate S — Google review
Very cool place to just chill, take a break and contemplate life. Parking nearby is free on the weekend but you have to pay during week. You have to use a parking app and bring up the zone you are in that's on the meter.
Sonny N — Google review
Very nice park, and pretty clean. Oly issue is one area I wouldn't walk by myself. A guy puking and shaking. Sorry, but facts. Mostly felt safe, patrolling officers went by twice in an hour. Wesbanco Arena , (hockey) is right there too.
Geri W — Google review
This is a nice waterfront park in downtown Wheeling. Lots of seating and a beautiful view. There a several options for restaurants nearby. The park is well maintained and clean. The only negative is there are always a number of homeless just loitering, although we have never been harassed.
Jay H — Google review
Very walkable river front. Beautiful views from all angles. Cute restaurant right at the park.

The restored building is home to the Wheeling Symphony and hosts Broadway shows, concerts, and other performances. Additionally, it offers rental opportunities for those seeking a classy space. The theatre also presents the Capitol Theatre Movie Series during the summer months.
This was a great place to see a concert. As you can see I saw the Beach Boys with Mike Love. They were amazing! Sounded awesome and I had a great time. The theater was impressive and a great place to experience the Beach Boys live. Acoustics were good, atmosphere had a great vibe and the workers were incredibly nice and helpful. I had a blast and from Pittsburgh it was an easy drive. Highly recommend going if your on the fence. Very cool venue. Would go again when another artist I like comes to Wheeling WV!!

Magical theater! Canada in 3 more years, the Capital Music Hall will be 100 years old. This stage is legendary to country music, artists and fans. There were two live shows every Saturday night which were broadcast on the 50,000 watt station WWVA 1170 to 18 states and 9 Canadian provinces. Shows of all types are now held weekly. A Must-see!

Incredible venue. Was our first time there and we will definitely be going back. Staff was Incredible as well. Fantastic evening. Parking garage was closed, but there was a lovely lady next door with inexpensive spaces. Definitely recommend.

What a beautiful & comfortable theater...Their seats are large enough to fit my BIG BOOTY into....plus....Cup Holders

We came here to see Vicki Lawrence do her "Two Woman Show" and it was a blast. I grew up watching Mama's Family and it was quite surreal to see her live and in person.
Jarrod S — Google review
Very nice place for concerts or plays. No really bad seats and they're cushioned, very clean and loyal to it's history.

Awesome. We were there to see Little River Band. They were awesome as always. I love the capital theater. Very cool place to see an awesome band.

We went to see Theresa Caputo and were worried bc we had purchased balcony tickets and had never been in the capital music theater but I'm happy to say it was a great experience and could see just fine! Theresa even came up top and talked to "me"so made it even more special! Only complaint is the price of food/ drinks... 5$ for a small cup of pop 14$ for a twisted tea etc

Jennifer M — Google review
What a charming little hidden gem. Had a fabulous day here. We went for lunch, then stayed for hours looking at all the treasures in the nearby shops. Highly recommend.
Melissa A — Google review
This market has a lot of history in the city. You’ll find a combination of small businesses between food and crafts as well as homemade goods for sale. It has a unique blend of an open-air market, though it’s all under roof and behind glass except for businesses with window panes that open to outside. It is non-smoking, and there are several seating areas as well as restrooms.
Brandon W — Google review
Had a lovely lunch at Wheeling Centre Market, we were driving through and stopped off for a break
Jacqui A — Google review
We love this place. It’s wonderful to mix well thought out grocery items with locally grown produce. The added art and curated goods are lovely too. It’s truly a wonderful place that communicates well with their patrons and has a genuine interest in providing groceries and items their customers want. The market skews toward more healthy, organic, and locally produced items which is a huge positive and should be applauded. But with that comes less wholesale and large box purchase options that bring prices down, so it’s a more expensive way to shop for groceries and something our family can’t afford to do very often despite wanting to support this fabulous place. We hope to continue to try and visit the Wheeling Centre Market for local produce, gift items, and more as we can! More people should visit and purchase great items from the Wheeling Centre Market and that may help ensure affordable prices alongside great products for all and support a place that is thoughtful and intentional with the curation of their products.
Jonathan L — Google review
Went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Most of the street shops were closed which was disappointing. Centre Market itself was also pretty disappointing. First off it was filthy, the dining tables appeared to be left dirty from 1979, the floor was so nasty my Service Dog wouldn't lay under the table and I didn't make her!! We had lunch at Colemans Fish Market. Another loser!! It too was filthy, the floor had not been cleaned in weeks!! They had not been open long so no excuse for that. Coleman food was worse than the appearance of the establishment. 18.75$$ for 2 greasy fish sandwiches on smashed, stale, wonder bread.. Really Colemans?? We ended up trashing that nasty lunch!! I will not be back!!

Have been going here since I was a kid. Love the shops, artists, food, etc. Go back everytime I'm in town visiting!

Nice 9 hole short track that was in town. The fairways were in decent shape. The greens seemed to be well maintained. Plenty of parking there and greens fee with cart was reasonably priced. There were vending machines but no snack bar in operation. Also has a pool, tennis, part, band stand, skate rink, playground, and put-put golf.

Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights

Mentioned on
4 lists
The Oglebay Winter Festival of Lights is a beloved Christmas tradition for many, featuring a stunning light exhibit that never fails to impress. Visitors can also enjoy exploring the gift shop and watching skilled artisans at work in the glass making area. It's a wonderful experience that brings joy to all who attend.
Winter Festival of Lights is a perfect evening out for the entire family. The driving experience is one for the littles to remember for a lifetime while the small shops and restaurants are a perfect adventure for the adults. Thousands of lights adorn the hillsides, roadsides, and waters at Oglebay's Winter Festival of Lights. 40 years strong this year! They are doing something right! A donation is taken to keep the lights active. The line to enter can be a wait, depending on the day that you choose to go. Obviously, weekends are busier, but there's SO much to do and see!
Autumn D — Google review
The road leading to where you view the lights is dark and narrow at times, but the venue, itself, is well lit and well taken care of. The light show itself was beautiful and worth the drive!! My husband, 4 year old son, and I really enjoyed it! They also have a gift store, I've cream stand, and other fun facilities. My husband and I want to go back to enjoy a weekend at their hotel. Go see the light show! You won't be disappointed!
Rebecca P — Google review
It’s been quite a few years since I’ve visited Oglebay & I thought my nephew might enjoy the lights so we took a road trip. From Canfield, Ohio it’s an hour and a half. I forgot about the windy, curvy & sharp turns of WVA. Yikes, a little nauseous feeling on the way home but all is good. I was surprised that the lights are not synced up with the radio channel 91.9 that they have you tune into while riding through. They do have beautiful displays of lights but when it’s not busy it proves to be a little confusing as to the directions of seeing all the lights in different sections of Oglebay. Signage would be helpful to make it easier for those who don’t live in the area. Otherwise, it is beautiful Christmas lights around the property.
KimPossible O — Google review
Our first time exploring Oglebay Park during Autumn's colorful array of foliage walking and driving around with our golden retriever Ollie. There were also several wedding parties enjoying a perfectly sunny day 🌞

We came here on Jan 2nd. Not much traffic at all. And we just kind of happened upon it during our drive from PA to ohio. We had a good time, but apparently missed some of it after reading other reviews.
Andy S — Google review

Coleman's Fish Market

Seafood market
Coleman's Fish Market in Wheeling is a popular spot known for its giant fish sandwich. The casual establishment often has long lines, especially for the famous fish sandwich, which is served battered on white bread. If you're looking for other dishes, there's a shorter special line available. The restaurant offers quick service and impresses visitors with its hot and fresh sandwiches, along with piping hot fries. It's a must-visit destination in Wheeling for delicious seafood fare.
Simple and delicious freshly fried fish sandwich - don't forget to order tartar sauce! The market selections look delicious as well along with the other market vendors. Coleman's is a must stop when we pass through Wheeling.
Rachel W — Google review
For the simplicity of the fish sandwich, it was pretty good! If they added some seasoning or fancied up the bread it would be even better. You do have to purchase the fries and tartar sauce separately.
Kate S — Google review
The best fish sandwich I’ve ever had - my parents are from Wheeling and ate here their whole life, as have I. I always come get a sandwich when I’m in town! Perfectly fried to perfection.
Brandon R — Google review
I finally made it out to Coleman's. I had the fish sandwich, deviled crab, and clam boat. They were very good and made the trip definitely worthwhile.
John W — Google review
Coleman's is absolutely INSANE for the price. Definitely follow the advice of others + order your fish sandwich with the bread on the side so it stays crispier + allows you to keep some for later munchies. 🤭 The alligator soup was okay, but I don't think I'd get it again. Ditto on the cole slaw. Sweet + not super memorable for me. Mac + cheese was very soft in texture, but the taste was on point. I couldn't stop eating it. Would get the mac again. 👍 Fries were a solid side too. The deviled crab had a lot of filler/flavors, but it tasted pretty good. It's worth splitting with someone or getting for yourself for later. All-in-all, Coleman's is definitely worth a stop if you find yourself anywhere in the area. 💯💯💯

I don't normally eat sea food but my aunt tricked me into eating here and honestly it was super good. Everything was fresh and hot and super delicious. The environment is so friendly as well. Best part about it is the fact that there a bunch of small stores around it so once it done eating u can check out all the other lil shops. All together was pretty good experience

Coleman’s Fish Market is hands down one of the best spots in Wheeling, WV! Their fresh fish sandwiches and hometown service are unbeatable. As a local real estate agent with Remax Broadwater: Team WolfePack, I’m always recommending Coleman’s to new homeowners who want to experience an authentic taste of the Ohio Valley. A must-visit whether you live here or are just passing through!
Remax W — Google review
Love this place as they always have a great selection of fresh seafood. I'm not crazy about their fish sandwich though. The white fish is good and they are not at all stingy on tgeirportions, but their breading is very lacking in flavor. Pretty bland but my husband, like thousands of others, loves it. The building is absolutely adorable. It really draws you in. There are other food stands in the building as well and I am dying to try one of them sometime. An absolute must for your fresh seafood needs, such as cioppino.

Later Alligator, located at 2145 Market Street in Wheeling, West Virginia, is a trendy bar and restaurant known for its cozy atmosphere and delicious food. The menu offers a variety of options including soups, salads, sandwiches, and the real highlight - a wide selection of crepes ranging from sweet to savory. The quaint room with brick accents and art on the walls provides a laid-back setting to enjoy your meal or grab drinks with friends.
I’ve been coming here for about five years, and it’s still one of my favorite places to go in Wheeling. It’s a unique spot with great service and delicious food. Their curry sauce is one of the best I’ve ever had. I usually get the Over-the-Edge tacos, but honestly, everything on the menu is good. The restaurant has a great vibe and really cool décor. They also have outdoor seating, and it’s a great place whether you’re dining in or taking food to go—I’ve done both, and it’s always a great experience. Even the bathroom is decorated in a fun and unique way, with license plates from all over the country. I’ve added some pictures so you can check it out!
Brian A — Google review
My initial impression of the restaurant wasn’t great, but it grew on me a little. When I entered, it took a while to get seated, and the interior felt somewhat small. However, the unique decor was definitely a positive aspect. I ordered a lemon drop cocktail, but it had very little alcohol and tasted more like water—so I didn’t order a second one. For my entrée, I chose the Wallie because of the many options available. I was thoroughly impressed and ended up finishing the entire dish. It was a fantastic recommendation from my waitress.

This is my favorite restaurant in Wheeling. Everything on the menu is great, especially the crepes. The Smores Latte is phenomenal.
Brendan H — Google review
We all had a different crepe but sadly I didn’t get other pictures. I had the Blueberry Hill, and it was phenomenal. My friend really enjoyed the Lox crepe. We also enjoyed the focaccia and potato salad. The atmosphere is so adorable and unique. Even my 1 year old enjoyed this restaurant!

The menu had a variety but was not overwhelming. The server was fanatic. The food was delicious. The experience was spectacular!!

Lunch was absolutely delicious! I appreciated the vegetation options and the lattè was amazing !

Was part of a wedding party and we had our check covered by some unknown party. That was a very welcome surprise. The crepes were absolutely fantastic. If I return to Wheeling any time soon, I will definitely be patronizing this restaurant again.

This was a great find on the first night of our weekend in Wheeling - it might be one of the best dinners I've had. There was a bit of a wait to get in, but down the street was a little Friday evening festival so we spent the time listening to the music and window shopping. My husband and I split 2 savory crepes (the Crepe Escape, and the Crepe Shoot) and one sweet crepe (Blueberry Hill). I would be hard pressed to pick between the two crepes, the flavors on both were amazing. For the sweet Crepe we substituted honey instead of maple syrup because I am not a maple fan - it was absolutely amazing. The whipped cream was not too sweet and was a great compliment to the brie and blueberries. Delicious. We will definitely be back!

Figaretti's Restaurant

Mentioned on
+2 other lists
$$$$affordable
Italian restaurant
Figaretti's Restaurant is a long-standing family-run establishment that has been serving traditional Italian dishes to the people of Wheeling since 1948. The restaurant was founded by the five sons of Italian-born Figaretti Senior, who used their mother's homemade tomato sauce in their preparations. Today, the restaurant is owned by Dino Figaretti, who continues the tradition of offering homemade pasta and robust Italian wines to complement the meals.
A co-worker an I ate here on a Thursday night. We are not from this area and came here at the recommendation of the hotel we were staying at. Figaretti’s is an old restaurant deeply engrained in the community. We didn’t expect the first class treatment as far as the down to earth service and hospitality. The food was stunningly good! I had the Pork Chop with the cream sauce (forgive me for not remembering but it’s a must), fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and sausage as my main course. I’ll just say that the Pork Chop is a MUST when dining here, but there are so many great choices on the menu. My co-worker agrees with the dining experience. A++ Restaurant would very highly recommend!! Will be back to Figaretti’s again when next in town without a doubt.

Established well known Italian restaurant in Wheeling. Quaint dark small interior with good utilization of space for guests Service was very good They would not survive in Italy! Spaghetti came with sweet marinara sauce with enough water on bottom of bowl to take a dip…, Meatballs hard overcooked and sausage was sweet but lacked zing Bottom line this restaurant would last no more than 6 days in Rome!
GODZILLA P — Google review
We found this spot when traveling. The kids wanted Italian and we were not disappointed. The staff was wonderful, the owner even stopped by to say hello to us. My husband had the surf and turf but with lobster and a pork chop which was a different opinion. He said it was fabulous. The best onion rings he’s ever had. The server even brought him a side of Marsala to dip the pork chop in. Which he normally doesn’t care for but he said the Marsala was even delicious! The cheese ravioli is clearly homemade and tastes fabulous. Our daughter said the spaghetti was the best she has ever had. Highly recommended this local spot. Next time we are in town, we will be back.

Small family run trattoria with a full bar and small outdoor patio. Very friendly and prompt service. The owner checks on customers to ensure that they're well satisfied with their meal, drinks and service. The food on the menu is fresh; so some items are limited availability, such as prime rib or lobster tails. But the high quality ingredients is obvious. I had the 20oz NY strip with mushrooms, a side dish of pasta marinara, and a house salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The steak was perfectly seared medium-rare, tender and delicious. The marinara is homemade and the best I've had in the states. It's difficult to describe the flavor or the spices used in it, but it tastes of fennel and basil yet doesn't overwhelm the tomato flavor of the sauce. Perfect. Also, I have celiac disease so I chose the restaurant because of reviews for it's careful preparation to avoid cross contamination with allergens. The gluten free pasta is cooked in dedicated gluten free utensils, and the grill is only used for meats and no gluten items. It's difficult to find a celiac friendly restaurant, and this is a great example of it. I highly recommend Figaretti's and will be sure to make it a regular stop while traveling back and forth between the DMV and Ohio (which I do at least a half dozen trips per year).

We arrived here Tuesday night for dinner. It was pretty crowded but we were in luck and got a table right away. Our server, Nichole, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable and friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes and all of us enjoyed it. I ordered the shrimp Alfredo and everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely visit again when I'm back in town.

We come to this restaurant once a month while staying at the casino. The food is always outstanding, very generous portions. The servers are phenomenal. Special shout out to Adria. She always makes us feel special and treats us like family. You won’t be disappointed with this gem of a restaurant. 🩷
Betsy F — Google review
I never leave reviews but this review is necessary. DO NOT GO HERE! The service was terrible. We were rushed by the waitress and she seemed very annoyed. It’s a known thing that they will rush you to get the table open again. The owner was a jerk to us and didn’t care about our concerns. Service is second to them- profit is everything. We heard the owner tell a waiter to go and tell a couple at a two person table that “they (staff) need the table”. Food is horrible- and WAY overpriced. Nothing about this place was inviting and we will never return. We would have had a better experience at McDonalds. We would highly recommend going to Undos! Great service, food, and very reasonably priced. Owners of Figarettis should take some notes, particularly Dino.
MommaBear 4 — Google review
We ate there for the first time recently while visiting Wheeling based on recommendations from friends and are already planning to go back. The food is amazing - very good, nice portions, hard to beat taste. It even tastes good reheated the next day. The service was great - our server was very friendly and treated us like family. We had a chance to talk to the owner who was also very friendly and cares that everyone leaves happy and full of good, homemade food. They will cater to your needs if possible, are reasonably priced and small but not crowded. We have already recommended Figretti’s to a friend and are looking forward to going back - even though it’s about a 45-60 minute drive from our house. Highly recommended!

TJ's Sports Garden Restaurant

Bar
TJ's Sports Garden Restaurant is a vast sports-themed eatery that offers numerous televisions, pool tables, and a menu of basic comforting dishes. A recent customer tried the chicken strips meal which they found to be average in taste. However, they were highly impressed by the beer-battered fries which they described as incredible. The fries were thick but not excessively so, making them perfect for indulgence. Additionally, the baked potato was delicious.
Sports bar galore. Large screen tvs all over. Small game area for kids. Get do weekly bets on college and pro football games. Food was good. Good sized portions. Friendly staff.

This has always been one of my favorite places when I used to live in Wheeling, so when my best friend’s birthday was yesterday, we came in and Danny was our server. He provided spectacular service and conversation, and was very knowledgeable about menu items. Very pleasant and polite! The food was delicious too! The zucchini planks were to die for, & my friend got the chicken palermo salad and loved it, and I got the buffalo chicken wrap which was 🫰🏻💋 Thank you Danny for a great experience & service during our visit!

Server was kind, fast and accurate. Buffalo chicken wrap was delicious, fries were HOTT!
Thomas O — Google review
They were busy, one waitress. We waited about 10 minutes and decided to leave...but we should have stayed...where we ended up was worse...and 2 years ago I ate at TJ's and it was great. We had a group of about 20, a graduation party...the waitress was so very awesome. So TJ's is great, boss or manager needs to get act together or help the employees so customers like me don't walkout to substandard ewwww food. We will be back, TJ's.

The takeout order was made fast and was Good. Will eat there again..

I chose this place because it was across the street from the hotel I was staying at, and it ended up being one of the best meals I have ever had. The Reuban burger was perfectly pink. The coleslaw was better than my grandma used to make, and I didn't think that was possible. And let's talk about the strawberry shortcake...this cake was so good I am honestly planning a family vacation back here just to eat this freaking cake again. 10/10 stop here and eat the strawberry shortcake if you find yourself near here.

With a menu featuring gourmet burgers, artisan pizzas, and an enticing kids' selection, it’s perfect for all ages. The restaurant's ambiance is enhanced by stunning displays of Wheeling glassware and modern glass accents that create a visually appealing atmosphere. Guests have praised the friendly wait staff who ensure your meal arrives fresh and satisfying.
Overall a good place to eat at the park. Fairly small menu. Food was decent the chips and dip were the best bang for the buck. Soft pretzels are good, dip was okay, fish and chips was okay. I tried a sandwich in the past it was excellent, I’d probably stick to them from now on.

I had the wings and my boyfriend had the pizza, they were both very good.
Jess K — Google review
Seating was bad, we asked for low table/chairs, they said come back in 20 minutes wouldn't put our name on list. Came back 20 minutes later and now they are taking names and phone numbers, told it would be another 20 minute wait. After 35 minutes no phone call so we check back and now they have numerous tables available and we were seated. Never got a call. Service was good after waiting 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence. Ordered 2 different pizzas and pub chips with blue cheese dip. Pizza was terrible, out of Basil for one pizza and out of bacon for the other pizza. Crust was burnt on edges and the rest was chewy like gum. In previous visits the pizza was good, not sure why they changed the crust. We left the equivalent of a whole pizza on the table. Pub chips were cold, the dip was good. We were comped one pizza which was fair. We should've been told they were out of ingredients for our pizzas. Would've gotten the wings but no option for any dry rubs, previuosly had a cajun/ranch that was fantastic.

My cousin and I were staying at the resort and this restaurant seemed to be the only later dinner option. It was quite busy on a Sunday night. We were seated pretty quickly though and we had a great waitress named Hannah W. I will say that the menu is very limited. I ended up going with the Smokey Chipotle BBQ wings. The sauce was so delicious, they $12 for 6 small wings (no sides). You can add a side salad for $4 and it was also good. I got two drinks, one was a Mai Tai for $9 and it was small and did not look or taste anything like a Mai Tai. It was very strong and not very good. Then I got a LIT and it was $11. It was very good and also very strong. My cousin got a Baileys Irish creme coffee and it was $14.50! She said it was also very very strong and only drink about half of it. She said her pepperoni pizza was good. I would come back. Beware though that if they offer access to the buffet in the main dining room that it is $36 per person. We weren't told the price when we went to look at it. Not a very big buffet. Luckily, we decided we didn't want it. I would hate to have that price on a receipt and not expect it.

MENU IS VERY MISLEADING, STAFF DOES NOT EAT HERE OR KNOW THE FOOD Very nice place, excellent service, high quality food, but the menu is misleading. VERY MISLEADING! Everything comes with “jam” on it. Ok, love it! Till the food comes and I found out it was completely void of anything resembling jam in anyway. No, they smother everything in mayo. EVERYTHING! Even sweet potato fries!!! How disgusting!!! I was so disappointed!!! I even asked before ordering but the wait staff clearly had no idea as well. Dont get me wrong, she knew what the menu said very well but didn’t know from experience anything about what’s really on it as they clearly dot let the wait staff try any food that the sell. The waitress would not have misled me had she known I felt. More so I found out after we were leaving that they had a caramel apple margarita which lets me know they have caramel on hand. Which now leads me to ask why they brought me mayo to dip Mr sweet potato fries in instead of brown sugar and honey, or caramel??? I even specifically asked about the glaze and she said yes and brought out mayo ketchup blend instead. And the salmon said it comes with a “lemon jam”which I was looking forward too. Can’t imagine my disappointment when it cane out with yellow mayo. I’m mad at myself for not saying anything then and even paying for it. I should not have accepted any of that but I am very socially awkward so it is difficult. I won’t ever go there again! Not for what I paid to not really have edible food. Mayo is disgusting and I have an egg allergy. Mayo is not the secret ingredient to everything including sweet potatoes. Your chef is bias to his own pallet. I would have given 5 stars for service had the wait staff was genuinely knowledgeable of the menu.

Good pub style food. Delicious and reasonable price. Courteous staff.

We came here on Saturday night (had a terrible experience next door in the dining room). Rodney the bartender was very personable and pleasant (he gets 5 stars). The other bartender only got us a drink once but felt like we were an inconvenience to her. We had the cheese dip app with pretzels and was very good. For dinner, I had the burger and my partner had the Rueben sandwich. Both were good as well. Pricing is a little steep for food quality but we are at a resort so to be expected.
Jade R — Google review
Given the prices and the fact that it’s on a resort, this was beyond disappointing. Olive Garden’s food is a step above in flavor; dishes were lacking and muted. Service was terrible. Watched our server walk back and forth between our drinks on the bar for over 15 minutes — eventually realizing it belongs to us. Made worse by him constantly telling us “drinks should be out soon,” and make no mistake, those drinks were ours and no one else’s. He brought the same ones we ordered and saw on the bar. Overall — save your time and money. This place will only leave you wishing for something else.

The menu showcases an array of gourmet options that cater to various palates, ensuring a memorable gastronomic adventure for every guest.
We went over the weekend for breakfast. The location is elegant, and the breakfast was good. Service was good and understanding of the mess my children made. Price was a little steep, but the view was beautiful.
Mnd — Google review
Writing about the breakfast, and a picture + comment of the dinner menu. Okay, sooo... the breakfast buffet has many options. $15/person with drinks included (at least coffee, milk, and juice I'm not sure about pop, etc.) They have an omelete bar with a ton of options and it's very good but the man making them seemed so miserable that I felt bad to order one. People have bad days, he wasn't mean or anything. They also have a waffle bar and she seemed cheery lol. Our server was helpful, pleasant, attentive, and provided nice conversation. :) I wasn't too surprised, just a bit disappointed at the powdered scrambled eggs, sunny side up eggs are my favorite but they didn't have them, not unusual for a buffet though. They still tasted okay. I made an eggs, sausage, and breakfast potato "bowl" sort of but I really enjoy cheese with my breakfast bowls and they didn't have that option. Perhaps you could ask for some from the omelet bar but as I said, I felt too bad to ask him. The potatoes were subpar, sausage was fine, bacon is the heat n serve type but still good and the fact that you could eat a pound of bacon if you want is cool I guess lol. They have HUGE cinnamon rolls, I personally didn't like them I felt the icing tasted like it was made from Splenda or something. The coffee was not great and I need my morning coffee 😬 they have a ton of options for kids, some young children next to us seemed to enjoy it, there's something for everyone. Huge plus that they let us take a box and 2 coffees out with us which is not traditional at all for a buffet. We were also heading out when they were closing so maybe that was a factor. It is reccomended that you make a reservation for dinner. The dinner options that I am aware of are the Ihlenfeld dining room and the bar/grill. The prices of dinner here are astronomical and there are a lot of untraditional pairings so I'm assuming they're trying to make it a more upscale option...but high prices do not make it an upscale restaurant. The menu didn't have anything for me that would allow me to justify spending that amount of money and based on the reviews, I'm VERY glad we didn't. The atmosphere as far as how it is kept and looks, is pretty nice.

We were staying at the resort and decided to have lunch there this last weekend with extended family. Food is mediocre. Prices are way too high. Servers weren't that great. We waited a long time for our meal and there was hardly anyone there. Without tip, for 3 people, our bill was $170. Yes, we knew what we were paying, but it was definitely not worth it. Food was way overpriced. Lave cake...that was a joke. They were out of cheesecake, so that's what my daughter settled on. The lava cake was a white and chocolate cake with chocolate drizzled on the plate below the cake. If we ever go back to Oblebay, we will not be eating there.
Kari C — Google review
We stayed for the weekend. The resort itself is beautiful. We made reservations for the seafood buffet and I would never recommend it to anyone. The food was below par. Out of 4 in the group 3 had food poisoning (1 person only ate salad and dessert, no seafood). I was so disappointed as the menu looked amazing for it and for $45 a person it should’ve been a lot better than what it was. The next day we tried the breakfast buffet. It was much better but 2/4 people couldn’t eat still as they were still severely ill from the food the night before. The breakfast buffet was nice as food was way more fresh. Overall breakfast is a 4/5 and seafood buffet a 0/5
Jade R — Google review
Such contrasting experiences. The breakfast buffet was great. Dinner turned out to be a very different experience. I leave the following as constructive feedback. Food took forever to come out, even salad and bread was delivered to tables 75 minutes after we arrived. Unfortunately the kid food came out almost immediately and was quickly consumed, leaving us attempting to calm six children in our group for the subsequent 45 minutes while waiting for our own food. The Caesar salad was good! Just forever delayed. Our steak was ordered medium because my wife is pregnant, and despite being in the kitchen for an hour and a half came out basically rare (image for reference). It’s just odd because the rest of our experience here as been so good. I look forward to breakfast tomorrow.

We were at the lodge to eat at the Ihlenfield Dining Room 2 days after Christmas 2018. We were a party of 14 with 5 children and 3 teenagers. They accommodated us well. We had a great view of the lights while we ate and our group of rather rambunctious children were welcomed. The service was quite good. Our server was efficient yet personable and all the requests from our assorted party members were fulfilled promptly. Most of us had the buffet and it was amazingly good. Much better the we had expected from past experiences. The ambience for a large group of assorted ages can't be beat.

I hope that Oglebay management checks reviews and responds appropriately with their staff and service. The manager during our visit to the Ihlenfeld Dining Room knew that there were issues and gave up quickly on damage control after checking on us when the server notified him of issues with our meal. We’ve been visiting Oglebay Park, stayed at the lodge/cabins and used the spa for 20 years. It should be noted that we were one of only three tables seated in the dining room, so there was no crowd. I ordered the NY strip steak which came with grilled tricolor carrots and a potato casserole in its own side dish. My wife ordered the crab cake with tricolor carrots and we also had the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. The shrimp cocktail was rubbery and had an odd taste not like shrimp at all. My steak was cooked perfectly at medium rare, but was ridiculously over seasoned with salt and/or tenderizer. The carrots on my plate were cold and chewy. The potato casserole was served in a small crock that was very hot, yet the casserole inside was barely room temperature. The casserole also tasted like dirty potatoes and was thick like dried glue throughout. Cold, dirt, glue. My wife’s meal looked good, but it turns out that the crab cake was mush with the consistency of wet mashed potatoes and cold chewy “grilled” carrots like mine. We shared the steak, which was the only edible part of our entrees and with two unsatisfying shrimp and half of a steak apiece, we left hungry. The manager offered to make another crab cake for my wife, but that always presents the problem of just sitting there with my meal and waiting for another to be made...it just screws up everything. Anyways, maybe Oglebay management needs to review the reviews and make some decisions about how to improve the resort experience.

My husband and I came from Pittsburgh for a stay here for our wedding anniversary. We chose this restaurant for our dinner . The crab cake was delicious and the skillet desert was amazing . We were also served the wrong beer and bread with cold spots in the middle . The portions were incredibly small. It was delicious but overpriced for the amount of food you get . Our waitress took quite a long time to take our orders and give us our check . Next time we come I’ll be choosing a different restaurant.

This family-owned establishment has deep roots in Wheeling, spanning four generations of the Duplaga family. Formerly known as the Swing Club, it now offers a range of dishes from breakfast to dinner, including hearty burritos, grilled sandwiches, salads, pasta, seafood, and steaks.
Great vibe. Food was good and reasonably priced. Beer was cold. Our party would definitely return.

Wings, perogies, all beef hotdog. Hotdog was spicy, came with chili sauce, shredded cheddar, and was way bigger than the bun. I had not ordered them before ands did not realize the size. After eating 5 wings and sharing the perogies, I could only eat 1 of the 2 hotdogs I ordered. Very good

We had an amazing experience at Generations Restaurant and Pub! The perogies and boneless chicken wings were absolutely delicious — full of flavor and cooked perfectly. We also tried the liver and onions, which were done just right, and topped it off with one of their lava cake desserts — rich, warm, and decadent. Our waitress was outstanding — not only was she attentive and friendly, but she also shared a quick history of the restaurant and gave us great recommendations for places to check out while we’re visiting Wheeling. Her hospitality truly made the experience memorable. Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area!

It was our server's first night out of training, and she did phenomenal. This came out in conversation and we were happy to be able to build her up. She was personable, thorough, and attentive. The menu had changed some since the last time we were there, and everything sounded appetizing. We usually love the Buffalo chicken dip here, but tonight it was lukewarm. There was an abundance of pita bread, which was a pleasant surprise. My husband enjoyed the flavor of his burger. The WV dogs were a miss. They were overally wet, and I needed a knife and fork to eat them. I've had them in the past and really enjoyed them. The salad was fresh and plentiful.

American restaurant
The Vagabond Kitchen is a locally owned gastropub situated in downtown Wheeling. It offers a wide selection of craft brews, cocktails, and New American dishes. This restaurant has an interesting backstory as it was conceptualized by Matt Welsch in 2013. Welsch embarked on a motorcycle journey across the country to explore different culinary techniques and ingredients.
In the heart of downtown Wheeling, we Trip Advisored into the Vagabond Kitchen. The on line menus were incredibly inviting and accurate. The atmosphere was modern and inviting. The food was perfect for a cold winter’s night. My chicken pot pie was divine as were the brownies. This place was worth the effort to find parking and avoid the rough patches on Market Street. We’ll be back!

Loved this place! We were out site seeing and found this place. The service was top notch! The servers were very friendly and recommended other places to go see on our visit. The food was great and I highly recommend the fried french toast sticks with handmade cream cheese dip! The atmosphere is very friendly. Parking was a breeze and the place was very clean. Highly recommend.

The truffle fries were delicious. I had the BLT and my husband had the hangover burger. They were pretty much your basic all American dishes. We will try something more unique next time. We also dined in on a Sunday for brunch and the service was not great either.

Had a great time here! We arrived right when they opened and were seated in a nice booth in the window. They had great local alcoholic ciders that my partner and I tried. The gluten free breakfast I had was good.

The atmosphere looks nice on the inside. The customer service was ok. I ordered the frog legs and I was highly disappointed. These were the smallest I have ever seen in my life. The honey lemon pepper seasoning I had on it was delicious. So we asked could we get some of the sauce to go and that we would pay for the sauce. The chef told the waitress that he didn't have time to be making a sauce if we were not placing another order. So I do not plan to go back again.

Very good restaurant with a menu unlike any other...tried some different things here and loved them all! The duck fat fries and duck wings were really good. Dessert menu lacks a bit. The menu does change seasonally, so check their FB page before you come

Been here many times since its beginning, through all the changes, and I’m always excited to see the growth of this restaurant. Super creative and tasty menu. Constantly keeping things new and fresh. Lots of exclusive food events through the year as well. A must-stop spot in the Ohio Valley! Staff is always super friendly and quick as well.

We were looking for a different place for brunch and this hit the spot perfectly! Seeing where everything is sourced from on the menu showed that community is important. It also did not disappoint. We loved everything… coffee with cream , farmer Eric’s eggs Benedict, and the lemon and blueberry waffles with sausage…. All delicious! How does someone make eggs this good???

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Undo's Elm Grove. This charming spot has garnered rave reviews for its exceptional service and friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Guests have enjoyed the steak night special featuring perfectly cooked sirloin paired with a baked potato and fresh salad drizzled in house-made Italian dressing. The standout here is undoubtedly the bread served with melted garlic butter—an absolute must-try!
Great food. Raviolis were heavenly. The ribeye steak melted in my mouth

We went here for the first time after hearing so many positive things about Undo’s. The service was great with an awesomely friendly server. Every person who worked here was super nice to us. We had the steak night special which is sirloin steak potato and salad. Of course their bread. The bread with melted garlic butter for dipping was unparalleled anywhere locally. Salad was fresh and crisp with a delicious house Italian dressing. The baked potato was a baked potato 🤔. The steaks were cooked perfectly. My wife loved hers as the marinade or cooking liquid was remindful of teriyaki sauce which she loves. I do not so much. So for me I could do without it. Next time I would see if I could do without it. Otherwise I’d try something else. Wing and pizza buffet Thursday. Gonna try that.

I had the prime rib. It was over cooked. Mt brother had a 3 piece combination Italian dish that was very good and my wife had an overpriced chicken salad. The service was good, though they seemed to rush us at the end. We wanted to stay and watch the game, but out waitress kept bringing our check after each round of drinks.
Senyelistli C — Google review
We had a pleasant experience at Undo's Elm Grove location. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Our food was accurately delivered in a timely manner. We both ordered the cheese ravioli, which was the special of the day. The special had about five or six different options. Both (marinara with meatball and marinara with peppers) were excellent. The salad had too much dressing for my liking, but I normally have little or no dressing, so that is just my preference. Most people would probably love it. The cheesy bread is fantastic.

Went there for new years eve. They were out of the prime rib that they advertised. The food was overpriced for what you got. I was lied to when I asked if they used imitation crab. Our waitress was very overbearing did not even leave us alone long enough to take a bite. She solicited a large tip the entire meal. I felt very pressured to over tip her. The entire experience was one I will not repeat

Visited here for my son and daughter in laws' reception dinner. It offered a dining area, large bar, live music, AND an awesome and quaint private party area where we were seated. Beautifully adorned. Unbelievably delicious Italian food AND dessert. I am actually sad that I live so far far away, it being in West Virginia. Highly recommended if you are near. I PROMISE they will NOT disappoint!!
Beth K — Google review
Food is way over priced, not a good selection. Smell of the food was enough to turn my stomach. Buffet was a joke. Burnt fried chicken? Really? The food looked horrid. Only decent looking part of the buffet was the salad. Very limited menu, really over priced. Would have hated to see what was on the plate if you ordered from it. This is a place I will avoid from now on.

Good lunch buffet, well kept and good selection of dishes to choose from. Have been there for dinner a few times too and always eat in the bar area. Friendly bar staff, hint to bar staff, when you see a guests drink get down to a third of a glass, it’s already time to ask if they’d like another!

Metropolitan Citi Grill is an upscale establishment in Wheeling that offers a diverse New American menu featuring top-quality steaks and seafood. Customers can also enjoy a martini/wine bar. Despite some mixed reviews, this restaurant stands out for its cleanliness and friendly service. The food is excellent with perfectly cooked steaks and fresh salads made from a variety of greens. The salmon salad is particularly enjoyable.
Can't say enough...good stuff! Amazing food, quality drinks, awesome desserts and the perfect waitress. We have been visiting Wheeling all week and trying different restaurants. This is, hands down, the best food we have had... And we just went in for drinks and a snack. Everything we ordered was so good...we kept ordering! Thank you!
Angela A — Google review
Not sure why the mixed reviews on this place. This is a very nice establishment considering the lack of options in the Wheeling area. Restaurant is clean, server was very friendly. I had a steak sandwich with a house salad. Steak was cooked perfect and the salad was a mix of fresh greens. My girlfriend had a salmon salad and she enjoyed it as well. No complaints. Food and presentation were excellent even with my order being standard American fare. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. If you're expecting a burger and fries or the like for $10, you will be disappointed. One thing that could really help would be remodeling of the restrooms.

Incredibly good food! My girlfriend and I are in town on business and this place was suggested. We sat outside on a nice night, service was good but the food! Man the food! Everything we had was fantastic, higher end dishes at great prices. Will be back for sure.

Food was OK. Our soup was sitting there forever, our waitress just forgot to bring it to us, but she said that the chef was having a break. She also didn't bring us any water. Every part of the meal took forever, and we needed to go, so we asked our main meals to go. Our waitress just brought us our food on the plates anyway and then later brought boxes so we'd pack our food ourselves. My husband didn't ask for a refill, but he got a refill and they charged us for that. I wish we didn't tip. They pretend to be fancy but they are not. The smell is weird in there. We'll definitely never go back.
Elena S — Google review
Great bread, great food. I ordered one of the special of the day, steak and shrimps, it was a bit salty, and personally I do not like rosemary, but others in my party enjoyed their food. The vegetables were fresh. Service was a bit slow.
Sue B — Google review
My wife and I ate here. It was awesome. Great salad. Had steak with onions. It was so good. It was like two years ago but still possibly the best steak I've ate since. The only weird thing was it was a fancy restaurant and the waitresses were extremely....."crack head looking" Clean but missing a lot of teeth, drug addict skinny, and really thin hair. Could of just been the area.
Tony G — Google review
I have been going to the Metropolitan a few times a year since they opened(I don't eat out much in general). I honestly can say I've always been treated to delicious meals. I consider myself picky when looking at restaurant selection any will only eat here and three other places in the local area based on food quality and taste. When I go here, I typically order calamari and the pear endive salad. The calamari is consistently made the same way with a crucnchy texture which I love. I've also had their seared tuna and pork more than once. Other people I have gone with have been pleased with their meals as well. Each time I have gone I've had good service, lunch time or dinner time. White linin tablecloths and uniformed servers provide a nice atmosphere. Personally I would go here for lunch in jeans and a nice top with flats or heels and maybe the same attire for dinner but generally for dinner, I dress up a little more behind jeans. It is the only restaurant in Wheeling I consider upscale. There are many other casual restaurants to choose from in the local area for more casual dress. Give it a try:)
Jennifer — Google review
Over the past couple of years I have eaten here a few times. It is the only classy, upscale establishment around the Ohio Valley (some of the local Italian restaurants are quite nice, but not upscale enough for evening attire). The last time I went was over a holiday, and I think they were short a server, as we were overlooked at our table a fair amount, but to be fair, it was a busy night and the place was packed! I must add that I am disappointed by the responses posted by the owner on two comments. Attacking one customer because she lives in a poorer demographic and for arriving late is completely inappropriate behavior for a service oriented establishment, whether she deserved it or not. Then the semi-polite, yet subtly disdainful reply to the other gentleman for his "so-so" opinion was also unbecoming. While I will agree that finding good quality people to employee around the Ohio Valley is a tremendous challenge it could have been worded with much more class.

It’s been years since I flew out from this Airport so didn’t recall what it will be look like when I was driving from Erie PA to this airport to get to my other destination for work. But to be frank Gas station ( 7-eleven / Sunoco) right before you drop off your rental, and then just cross the road to get to the terminal. So i would say it’s very convenient and easy to navigate. Once enter inside airport easy to find your airlines ticket counter and after dropping bags heading straight to TSA Pre. Airport is so empty it’s seems like and not as crowded as you are seeing at O’hare , atlanta , Charlotte and other major Airport. Had short flight ✈️ from Pittsburgh to IAD.

This airport is old, outdated, a bit dingy and currently has construction going on. One major complaint is that the limited food options available all close super early. If you have a late flight, you do not have many options beyond a skeezy sports bar and a little convenience store. Getting through security is a bit slow going, so allow yourself a little extra time. The baggage area is dirty, but one bonus here here is the array of rental car counters. It is very easy to pick up and drop off rental cars here.

I love the city. The diversity of people, work, and architecture. They have artfully mixed the old with new and embraced the culture in the area and surrounding Burroughs. You should not miss the amazing views from the “Mount”. The streets are bit scary but something that you adapt to easily.

I had a great experience flying through Pittsburgh International Airport. Exiting my flight was quick and easy, and the terminal itself was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. While there was some construction happening, which made it a little tricky to navigate at times, it didn’t take away too much from the overall positive experience. I do wish the signage for the exit and the shuttle to the arrival pick-up area had been clearer, but they did have a well-marked area for ride-share pickups and buses, which made getting into the city very easy. On my way back home, TSA was extremely helpful and kind — even though I didn’t have my ID with me, they made the process smooth and helped ease my stress before boarding. My flight left right on time with no issues. The prices at the airport weren’t bad at all, and I even picked up a great little Pittsburgh PA shot glass that I’ll definitely treasure as a souvenir. If I need to fly through Pittsburgh again, I wouldn’t hesitate. It was a smooth, pleasant experience from start to finish.

I usually fly out of CLE but it made more sense to fly out of PIT this time and I'd glad I did. The new terminal is almost complete, and even with that I still had no issues getting through security early in the morning. The Delta gates have been recently remodeled and look way better. Some of the older gate areas are quite dated but good if you need a nap (lots of seating without armrests). I'll miss the train when it's gone as it is such a cool quirk that's for an airport the size of PIT.
Luke S — Google review
Pittsburgh International has definitely seen better days. There’s a ton of construction right now, which makes navigating a bit chaotic — but to be fair, it looks like they’re setting the stage for some much-needed improvements. The airport itself is clean enough and still runs smoothly, but it’s starting to show its age. And that tiny train? It feels more like a quirky relic than a useful feature — blink and the ride’s over. Overall, PIT gets the job done, but it’s due for a glow-up. Hopefully the renovations bring it back to its former glory. 🚧✈️

Good range of shops, restaurants and conveniences, needs more airport lounge options and greatly needs more TSA staff and security checkpoint lanes. Lots of construction going on everywhere, some of it makes sense, the road construction makes no sense whatsoever. All in all, a solid airport.

Since they have been renovating, this airport has improved drastically! The wait times for things have been cut in more than half. This airport had everything I needed

Akron-Canton Airport

Airport
Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is a regional airport located in the Akron area, conveniently situated just 7 miles away from the campus. The airport offers a variety of flights to destinations around the country and is known for its easy navigation due to its small size. Visitors have praised the friendly and efficient TSA agents, with short wait times at security checkpoints. While some find the dining options within the terminal to be good but pricey, others appreciate amenities like handicapped parking spaces and helpful staff.
Great airport located between Canton and Akron, Ohio. It's clean, easy to navigate, and security is a breeze. They also have a nice business center to get some work done in comfort.

First time flying to this Airport as I came for work to Salem OH, and this was convenient one hour highway drive from the Airport. Had a fantastic experience at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK)! From start to finish, everything was smooth and stress-free. The staff were genuinely the friendliest I’ve ever encountered at an airport—helpful, kind, and welcoming. Rental car facility are inside airport and rental car 🚘 just across the road to pick up and drop off, smaller airport but seems like they maintained well. Highly recommend this airport for a hassle-free, pleasant travel experience! Forgot to mentioned about quite Business lounge at this Airport for travellers like me who wants to catch up with paperwork while waiting for the flight. Not many airport you will see like that, plenty of space to seats and charge your electronic gadgets throughout the airport, I’m sure we all experience that at the airport like O’hare , Charlotte and Philadelphia where passengers are walking with there almost dead phone to get it charged, you will not see that issue at this airport at all. Overall overwhelming experience…. Only regret and wish they had direct flight to Philadelphia.

Super clean and easy to get around since it’s such a small airport. Security was quick, everything feels new, and Breeze has some amazing cheap flights out of here. One of the easiest airports I’ve flown through!
Blayz B — Google review
Staff was great. First time flying out form CAK. Anyone and everyone was ready to answer any question I had. Getting through TSA was a breeze. The gate attendee was so nice and helpful she would leave her desk to come to flyers. Great coffee. Great atmosphere. May be small but it left an impression.
Daniel L — Google review
Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is a hidden gem for travelers who appreciate efficiency and friendliness. The service here is consistently praised—staff are helpful, check-in is quick, and TSA is both thorough and speedy, making the whole process stress-free compared to larger airports. That is why we only choose this airport for family trips even though we are located two miles from CLE. Cleanliness is a standout feature as it the cleanest airport I have ever visited, with spotless restrooms and well-kept public spaces. There is also a kids play area and business center. Food options are limited but solid for a regional airport, and yes, the giant pretzel is a must-try if you’re passing through—perfect for a quick bite before your flight. Security lines are generally short and well-managed, so you won’t be stuck waiting around. Now, a quick word to the wise for the gentlemen: the restroom urinal arrangement is… unconventional. The smallest urinal is boldly stationed right in the middle, flagrantly violating the sacred code of urinal etiquette. Consider this your friendly warning—a little airport quirk that’s sure to spark conversation (or at least a chuckle). Overall, CAK is a breeze to use, with friendly staff, fast lines, and a welcoming vibe. Just watch out for that middle urinal!

The basics: very clean, easy to navigate, very friendly, short lines and good food. I flew out of here in 2023. It was my first commercial flight ever and I was by myself. I had no idea what I was doing and was terrified of doing something wrong when it came to boarding or security. Dorothy at the information desk was an absolute blessing! She told me what to do through security, what to do when it came time to board, how to navigate my baggage situation and even went above and beyond by printing out a map of where my next destination was. Even with Dorothy's through instructions, I forgot to do some stuff at security but they were very nice about it and helped me out too. The restaurant's staff was great, I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were very very good (better than I could've made.) If I ever have to fly in this part of the country again I would love to land here. Every single staff member left such a positive impact on me that I am now a loyalist to this airport solely because of how positive one departure was. If I could double this rating I would. I hope Dorothy is doing well and keeps making traveler's days better!

By far the best airport experience my family and I have had in a long time. We moved to the Cleveland area two years ago. We fly quite a bit and have been coming and going out of Cleveland Hopkins. I was talking to someone about how much we hate flying out of there and he told us we should try Akron-Canton Airport. I’m kicking myself because we didn’t do it sooner. Easy parking, quick screening and one of the cleanest airports we have ever been to. So happy we made the switch.

Close, convenient, and smooth. Constantly improving, I've watched this airport grow as I have over the years. Unfortunately DELTA is not flying from or to CAK hopefully they will return soon. Hard working staff keep the airport very clean. There are family bathrooms as well as a newly added pet relief center. Play area for children, and sensory room for special needs. A spacious office with a door, 🖨 printer, and desks to allow for focus on those lats minute business projects. Multiple large bathrooms 🚻handle demand well and then some. Super clean and well equipped with handicap ♿stalls, and child changing stations. Currently all parking is focused on SHORT TERM LOT both long term A &B are closed.
