Blyde River Canyon is a massive natural attraction known for its diverse wildlife and stunning views. It's situated perfectly for exploring the Panorama Route, offering various day trip options such as Classic Touring and Exceptional Touring in Hoedspruit. The canyon itself is an awe-inspiring sight, stretching 60 kilometers with towering cliffs up to 700 meters high. This green chasm houses a river winding through sub-tropical jungle teeming with wildlife and thrilling rapids.
honestly one of the highlights of our trip! The views are absolutely breathtaking, from the cliffs to the deep green river. Nature at its best. What made it even better was our tour guide hilarious and full of energy! He kept us laughing the whole way while still dropping some cool facts about the area.

My second favourite stop on the Panaroma Route. The views around the time of golden hour for sunset are very spectacular. So peaceful and only a 5 min walk from the carpark. Down in the valley below is a lake. Apparently the Australian version of 'Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' is filmed in the canyon below. Keep a look out for birds.
Timeshare C — Google review
The views are beautiful. There’s a nice place to grab some food inside too.

BREATH TAKING!!! Very beautiful view of the canyon. Simply amazing. A trip highlight.

A must-visit spot when exploring Mpumalanga. The views will leave you speechless.
Hassaan T — Google review
This place is as everyone stated. I saved an image for my profile pic I enjoyed it that much. It's a colorful, picturesque landscape that is also quite peaceful and relaxing. Toured it twice from above and then the river cruise. I did miss God's window due to intense fog. Make sure you check the weather conditions. Highly recommended.

I'm still reeling from the breathtaking beauty of the Blyde River Canyon! As the last stop on my Panorama Route journey, it exceeded all expectations and left me speechless. The sheer scale and majesty of this natural wonder is awe-inspiring, with lush subtropical vegetation and towering cliffs that seem to stretch on forever. Standing at the edge, I felt tiny in comparison, and the panoramic views took my breath away. I feel incredibly lucky to have experienced its beauty

For many South Africans, the Sabie area, God’s Window, and the Three Rondavels are familiar and well-loved destinations. However, for international visitors, I highly recommend making the Blyde River Canyon region a priority. The viewpoint overlooking the Three Rondavels is truly breathtaking and offers one of the most iconic landscapes in the country. The formation is named the “Three Rondavels” because the three rock structures resemble traditional African rondavel huts—rounded, hut-like shapes that look like three natural “houses” carved into the landscape. It is a unique and memorable sight, and an essential stop for anyone exploring South Africa. Make sure to include this remarkable area in your travel plans when visiting the country.

Punda Maria Gate at Kruger National Park offers a range of amenities, including cafeterias at main camps like Skukuza, Satara, Lower Sabie, and more. The workers at the gate are dedicated to maintaining a clean and environmentally friendly environment by picking up litter left by visitors. Visitors are greeted with respect upon entry and exit, with staff checking vehicles for safety and ensuring a pleasant experience. The park is known for its relaxing atmosphere and excellent support services.
What a friendly bunch😄. On exit we were greeted and treated respectfully ✨as they checked our vehicle 🚘for whatever they look for. In our case all the usual luggage👜 and camping related items.✌✌✌

Loved it. Do you love the scent of petrol? Then this is your go-to area. I love road trips and raking them through kruger National Park , but I couldn't be safer. The food at their restaurants is perfect and well done , its fire, i must say. Too bad if you pass the curfew, you get a ticket as per a 15-minute delay. That's what the security told us. Just be on time and manage your time well if you are on a day visit.

Not a gate I would use again. The reason being that the road to the gate is through many communities resulting in a much longer trip than what is needed. Should you ever need to go to the north of Kruger either Travel through the park via Phalaborwa gate or use Pafuri gate.

International airport
Airport
Regional airport
Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, also known as KMIA, has been serving as the main airport for the region since its opening in 2001. It is a crucial gateway to the renowned Kruger National Park and sees around three million passengers annually. The airport offers scheduled flights to Johannesburg, connecting travelers to various international destinations. Additionally, it operates daily flights to other nearby airports and receives flights from Durban and Cape Town.
Clean, well-organized, and beautifully designed with a unique thatched roof that gives it a real safari feel. Staff were friendly and helpful, and everything; from baggage collection to car rental. A perfect welcome (or farewell) point for anyone visiting Kruger National Park!
Charles S — Google review
Nice and small airport with just 1 terminal each for departure and arrivals. Few nice shops to look upto some African artifacts and clothings. Best part is it’s not crowded and check-in and baggage becomes very quick.
Sumit C — Google review
This airport is a purpose built one for the Kruger national Park visitors, and is about 90 minutes drive from the park. The airport looks more like a 4 star hotel, with lovely interior design. Lots of parking spaces, not busy. Lots of cafes around, one of them has excellent coffee and tea with non dairy offerings. Security staff are friendly and helpful. Overall not busy airport in the mornings.
S V — Google review
Average boring small airport but it is clean, spacious, not crowded and all staff are firendly and helpful and it is comfortable welcoming with safari theme.
Peter C — Google review
Most definitely, the most beautiful smaller airport in the world. Well managed and maintained with friendly and professional staff. It is always a pleasure to fly to or from KMIA. With its bush lodge atmosphere, waiting for departure with a cup of coffee, completely ensure a relaxing airport experience.

Nature preserve
Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is a vast expanse of land located on the western edge of Kruger National Park, neighboring Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. It covers 53,000 hectares and is known for its diverse flora and fauna, including elephants and lions. This reserve offers a unique opportunity to witness wildlife in their natural habitat, with higher game sightings compared to other parks. It's considered a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts seeking an escape from modern life.
Outstanding game drive. Jhono, the driver, was experienced, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. We saw many wonderful animals, including close-up sighting of lions.

Relaxed atmosphere, nice rondawals with bath on suite. Good food. Book extra activities like a sunset drive. They have their own guides and game drive vehicles. Friendly and competent staff.
Pearls A — Google review
The reserve is nice. Very similar to the Kruger just with a few more private lodges. The animals weren't too skittish. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Simeon P — Google review
There are several private concessions that form part of the Greater Kruger National Park, one being the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. During our visit we stayed at the Motswari Private Game Reserve (reviewed separately) which I can highly recommend. It is good to note that you need to stay at one of the lodges within the Timbavati/Klaserie/Umbabat to be able to enter the park. We had an amazing array of sightings, as all the animals found within the Kurger National Park can be found here, including an up-close sighting of a leopard within a river bed. The Timbavati also has a large range if bio-diverse regions to explore depending on the lodge you are staying at and the staff at the Enkhulu gate, where we entered, were very friendly and took nature conservation extremely seriously.

Nada como verlos en su hábitat natural y escucharlos rugir 🐾🦁 . El mejor lente para ir de Safari es uno que tenga un buen zoom!! Geographically and politically, Timbavati is located in Mpumalanga Province. Restaurant
Kruger Station Restaurant @ Skukuza Rest Camp offers a unique dining experience, paying homage to the history of the area. Set in an old train station, it exudes a charming ambiance reminiscent of an old British station. The restaurant features a restored steam engine and a carriage set up for group dining. The menu boasts a variety of options, from chicken cheese burgers to hake and chips, all served in generous portions bursting with flavor.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional (presentation, preparation and taste) and I HIGHLY recommend it. The ambiance is not quite as special (to me) but the excellent food choices more than make up for it. I tried almost all the starters and their mains portions are beyond generous. Well done!
Michael — Google review
Absolutely love the style of this restaurant. The open-air area is really refreshing and takes full advantage of the beautiful surrounds, and the dining area inside the train is classic and unique. The food was fresh, delicious, and satisfying, and the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. The prices were decent, especially for the quality of the food.
Francesca — Google review
We came here twice for dinner and once for breakfast. The food is super delicious! The selection of dishes and drinks is large and also innovative. Everyone will find something here! The portions are quite generous. Overall, the restaurant is very stylishly furnished. The prices are a bit higher than at the other restaurant in the camp, but it’s definitely worth eating here!
Peter F — Google review
Interest game food menu and everything is tasty and not too pricy. An awesome city restaurant with everything you need and enjoy with a bar and amazing theme of the train station with wonderful stadf and great food in the safari is just what you need after a long day game viewing. Sometimes food can take up to 45min to arrive so be prepared. It is not fast food. Love this place.
Peter C — Google review
Kruger Station in Skukuza is a real gem - the setting in the old railway station is unique and full of atmosphere. The food was excellent, with by far the best vegan selection we found anywhere in Kruger National Park. We especially loved the vegan make-your-own pizza, poke bowl with tofu and fresh brekky. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe made the whole experience even better. We’d happily come back any time.
Natálie — Google review
The location mimics a station. You can choose to be seated in an actual train, or on the terrace. The food was fantastic, as well as the service. We had the crocodile steak and the pulled bbq pizza.
Madalina D — Google review
They have an amazing range of food to try, their bar is fully stocked and the staff are super friendly. A must if you stop at Skukuza!
Chané T — Google review
Enjoyed both a lunch (outside seating) and dinner (within the train) at the Station. They have great tasting food options with many dishes that are Asian inspired. The pizzas are great too. Super friendly staff (special shootout to Gratitude!!). They are slightly more expensive than the other restaurants in the Kruger park.

Tindlovu Restaurant at Letaba Rest Camp is a must-visit for anyone exploring the stunning Kruger National Park. Nestled alongside the picturesque Letaba River, this dining spot offers breathtaking views of the river floodplains, making every meal an unforgettable experience. Guests can indulge in authentic South African cuisine, including a delightful venison pie with homemade pastry that melts in your mouth.
Just returned from a fantastic two-week stay at Letaba Rest Camp, where we enjoyed several meals at the Tindlovu Restaurant—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was consistently delicious, with generous, hearty portions, and the staff were always attentive and welcoming. A highlight of our trip was our final evening, when we celebrated a birthday. The staff helped us pre-order a beautiful, well-priced chocolate cake, and when it was time, they brought it out—candles lit, singing in full chorus and dancing, even the kitchen staff joined in. It was a truly unforgettable moment and the perfect way to end a memorable holiday. Special thanks to our amazing waiter, Elton Mokoena, who went above and beyond throughout our visits, and to the talented pastry chef, Florida Mametja, for creating a show-stopping cake. Highly recommend!
Molly A — Google review
The stunning view from the Tindlovu Restaurant at Letaba Rest Camp alone makes it a must-visit while in the area. It has beautiful views over the great Letaba river where you can see different animals, including elephants, coming for a drink. We recently visited the restaurant for drinks, which were enjoyable. While I can't comment on the food, the service was friendly, but could be a bit more efficient. Next time I'm at Letaba, I'll definitely return to try the food as well.
Dewald R — Google review
The Letaba restaurant is outsourced and managed by Tindlovu Restaurants, the same operator as in several other Kruger camps. The location couldn’t be better — overlooking the river, it’s one of the most beautiful settings anywhere in the park. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The interior still shows the old Mug & Bean design (they left in 2017) and really needs an update. We had dinner here on four consecutive nights. Every evening, many menu items were out of stock — half the appetizers unavailable, and out of 11 red wines, only 3 were left. The staff is friendly, but service is inconsistent and lacks attention. On the first night, we had to repeat our order several times before getting anything. The second evening went smoother, but by the third and fourth nights, orders arrived wrong, cold, or not as requested. When we mentioned it, the waitress just smiled and walked away. When the food actually arrived correctly and hot, it was tasty and well-prepared — so the kitchen can deliver good quality. But overall, the experience was frustrating. If you have the chance, you’re better off braaing at your rondavel and enjoying the view yourself rather than relying on this restaurant.
Paul S — Google review
I barely give less than 4 stars,but.. The restaurant is nice, relatively fast service and friendly staff. I would even forgive getting rice as a side for steak instead of french fries. But the rumpsteak.. Thin. Tought. Cold when came to table.
Milos B — Google review
Restaurant is in a prime location over looking the river. Saw lot of game in the river. The atmosphere was very friendly, and the staff were friendly too. Many options to choose from on the menu. However, service was quite slow, and the food came cold. They ran out of crocodile on the menu, which was their specialty. Overall, not a bad restaurant to go to, if you are coming through Letaba. Highly recommend their milkshakes.
Mark W — Google review
Stayed 1 night at Letaba camp, had breakfast at the restaurant. No complaints, presentation and taste of the meals. Service was good and an amazing view over the river.
Shireen K — Google review
We have their scone every year. Service was very poor, the waiter did not bring cheese with the scone and no butter. I had to run around for butter and cheese. I feel to pay so much for food, and still run around after the staff for the correct portion is unacceptable for such a basic order.
Sam C — Google review
The resturant is a beautifully African themed mix of modern and old fashioned decor set on the banks of the Letaba river. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The food is really good and the wide variety of options available make the experience even better. Would definitely recommend.

We ordered two cakes. They were the same cake you can buy at the supermarket. The cake was as hard as a rock. The waitress didn't take our complaint seriously and even wanted a tip, which we, of course, didn't give. A very bad experience.
Moontri — Google review
The Tindlovu restaurant at the Mopani Rest Camp has one of the best views in the park, overlooking the Pioneer dam. There is inside and outside seating (outside is covered by a roof). Although you have a good view from most tables, I recommend you try to get there before the lunch / dinner rush to get a table outside so as to take full advantage of the view. Their menu is very basic, but everything we tasted was pretty good and reasonably priced. Although our waitress was friendly, service was very slow and they weren't very attentive. Just for the view alone I would make a plan to visit again, even if just to grab something to drink.
Dewald R — Google review
Lovely view ,the food was ok but could be better, same for the service. We felt a bit like they don't try too hard as they have a captive audience. The restaurant needs a redesign with more outdoor space, please fix the air-conditioning and fridge (beers were not very cold)🙏
Paul M — Google review
Food is delicious, especially their Breakfast, but the service is shocking, the staff either do not answer you or just grunt, so it is a guess to know if they have heard you. The place is in a shambles, with dirty dishes all over the "bar" area. There seems to be a lack of supervision, this can be seen in the amount of cobwebs all over the place. It is filthy and makes a person wonder if they conform to all the health department requirements. This place survives solely on the stunning location and the elephants who visit the dam to swim each day, without that attraction, this place would not survive - Grubby would best describe it, but the food is good and the location is brilliant.
Sabine G — Google review
The staff are generally not that welcoming. The lady who appears to be a manager or supervisor is rude and extremely unfriendly. The tables are always dirty and are also not in very good condition. There is no aircon so it gets really uncomfortable inside during summer. There is a really nice outside deck overlooking the water. The food is good, especially the burgers. If the staff were better and the place was clean I would give it a much better rating. I'm sure a new manager would make a huge difference.

It was my husband's birthday so we chose this special restaurant to celebrate. Starter Focassia: BEYOND amazing! Very disappointed with mains. Ordered ribeye which was as thin as minute stakes and very very very tough! We were not OK with paying almost R300 per plate for a plate of food not worth R100. The waiters were so friendly and understanding and we ordered burgers instead. Honestly the best burger we had in a very long time. What disappointed me was that the manager came to talk to us and wanted to find a "middeweg". I agreed to paying for one burger and one steak to avoid conflict on my husband's birthday. But I dont feel it is OK that a four star restaurant serves very tough and very thin (def not the size indicated on the menu) and then asks the customer to pay for a very unenjoyble meal which wont even be served at less accomplished establishments without being able to eat it. Saying that, I still have to compliment the waiters, the amazing ambience and the burgers which was super!

Quick Takeaways 🥞 Clean, tidy, and well-presented restaurant with a wide pancake selection 😊 Friendly, English-speaking staff and quick service 🚗 Plenty of on-street parking and clean toilet facilities 📶 Good WiFi and a solid range of drinks available 🥩 Includes a small biltong shop selling water, sweets, chutneys, and other local items 🍽️ The Bobotie pancake was excellent — rich, flavourful, and highly recommended 💰 Prices are reasonable; ideal for a quick, satisfying bite Full Review The restaurant is clean, tidy, and well presented, offering a comfortable and welcoming setting. There’s a good variety of pancakes to choose from, catering to both savoury and sweet tastes. Service was prompt and friendly — as is typical across South Africa, the staff spoke excellent English and were warm and attentive. There’s plenty of on-road parking, and the restaurant provides reliable WiFi, clean toilets, and a decent drinks selection. A nice extra touch is the adjoining biltong shop, which also sells small essentials like bottled water, sweets, chutneys, and local snacks. I ordered the Bobotie pancake, and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly spiced, full of flavour, and so good I could have happily eaten another. It’s a great spot to stop for a quick and affordable meal, and I left thoroughly impressed by both the food and the friendly atmosphere.

I'm a sucker for pancakes and these were THE best I've ever had. They are light and fluffy, but also thick! They are between a flapjack and the traditional thin pancake, but they still manage to be airy and tasty. I hope to find a recipe for them, but I reckon Harrie's will always do it better! The jaffles are also delicious and are well-stocked with filling. Would highly recommend. If you are particularly hungry, a jaffle followed by a pancake for dessert will definitely satisfy, but either one will fill you up too! The prices are very reasonable and the staff are exceptionally friendly and efficient. Will definitely rush back when I'm in the area again!

Great food and service at Harrie's Pancakes. Graskop is a tourist town en route to Kruger National Park so deals with large groups and busloads. Despite this the service is fast and staff friendly and attentive. Loved the wood fireplace. I ordered a butternut and feta jaffle R120 which was tasty and served as an old school jaffle iron style. It came with a side of chips which had a nice seasoning on it. The sweet capsicum sauce was especially good. There is a small Biltong deli as part of the cafe and good toilet facilities. Also loved the portrait photos of the staff on the wall. Great lunch stop!

A friend recommended the Nutella pancakes at Harrie’s, and they exceeded every expectation. Rich, indulgent, and perfectly balanced, it’s one of those treats that’s beyond describing, you simply have to taste it yourself. Just a tip: order only one, because it’s incredibly filling! An absolute recommendation for anyone passing by, you won’t regret it.

We stopped here during our Panorama Tour and the pancakes were amazing. We tried one sweet (cinnamon, sugar, banana, and caramel sauce) and one savory (chicken, mushrooms, and cashews) - both were absolutely delicious! Mango juice was also great!

We were really looking forward to this place after hearing the tour guide rave about it, but unfortunately it didn’t live up to the hype.
