Margrain Vineyard offers a fantastic wine tasting experience with knowledgeable and kind staff who help visitors understand the subtle layers and undertones of each wine. The outside area features picnic tables and umbrellas, creating a nice setting for enjoying their wines. Visitors can also take a tour of the vineyard, experiencing the family-oriented feeling that warms the heart. The hospitality is amazing, and the tasting room is cozy and informative about the wines and winemaking process.
Had a nice tour of the vineyard including wine tasting as well: the family oriented feeling they passed to me warmed up my heart and I also loved their wines. Strongly recommended if u are around Martinborough District, I have enjoyed it more than better known vineyards as people here seemed to really care about us and dedicated time to us.

A perfect place for a birthday party. Luckily the weather was perfect. Such a lovely setting, sitting by the vineyard. Margrain staff were very accommodating and friendly.

We visited this winery for a tasting during a tour. It is a lovely winery and our host Kate is very knowledgeable and has a fun personality. The wines were very flavourful. Would definitely recommend this winery.
Major T — Google review
We went to Margrain because they were playing music and it was our first wine tasting in Martinborough. Tries the premium wine flight which was very good. My choice was Rose bubbles, Riesling, Chardonnay and two Pinot Noir’s. Enjoyed the lot. There is the Vinyard tasting and the wine flight from the Vinyard cafe. The music was outstanding. Met some locals and had great fun. Might not be the very best wine but hey we enjoyed it. Would go again. 😀🇳🇿🇬🇧

This time we were there for the food. Very pleased with the friendly staff, great surroundings and prefect food. Reasonable prices. Noted that their wine prices are also great. We will come back again (3rd time) and buy more wine.
Simon C — Google review
Awesome reasonably priced platters. Friendly, relaxed staff. The rose is one of my favs
Jo M — Google review
Really nice outside area with picnic tables and umbrellas. We were seated and served quickly. We ordered a salami pizza which wasn’t great. Felt like it was swimming in cheese. Found it hard to get another wine and eventually gave up on trying to get the staffs attention and just went and ordered from the front desk. Really nice setting and worth a visit
Marie C — Google review
My favourite testing by far all the wines were amazing, service was great an did I mention how nice the wine Was? Cupboard now has started a collection of Margrain wine.

Martinborough Brewery is a charming and private cottage nestled in the idyllic countryside, offering stunning views of the mountains. The property features a beautifully restored interior with a spacious kitchen, dining area, and four bedrooms. Guests can enjoy the serene vineyard and garden while relaxing on the sunny veranda. Additionally, Martinborough is renowned for its world-class vineyards, including Te Kairanga and Lighthouse Gin located nearby.
A tasting paddle $32 (4x 150ml your choice) Soooo good! Hazy was my favourite, with passion fruit taste on the tongue. And they had a food truck The Social Chef whose Kung Pao Chicken was magic! Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside. A perfect accompaniment!
Tanisha W — Google review
Group of 5 of us arrived for some tastings etc, man behind the bar was rude and dismissive because we couldn't decide what we wanted to try. A bit of effort into some suggestions and conversation would have been nice. Isn't that your job? When we said we'll go outside and have a think, he rolled his eyes and said "yeah good idea" whole time continuing to talk to what must have been a regular. Didn't bother staying, went to the new Marty's joint in town and had wonderful service and food. Shame because it seems like it would have been nice spot to have a drink even though prices are fairly steep also.
Karen C — Google review
Lovely brewery with great beer and value for money platters. Can recommend the Ohio APA. Testing paddles with options of 4 or 8 and half or full glasses. A window provides a view into the brewery.
Michelle C — Google review
A busy little place with a great selection of locally brewed beers. They have a good value tasting board option if you're not sure what to get. They had good seating but I'd recommend booking on a nice day as they were busy and fully booked.
Hannah S — Google review
Cool vibe. Owner gave us a ride home. Epic 👌💥
Lisa C — Google review
If you’re not a wine lover then this place is for you. I don’t drink craft beer but they had a cider on offer which was ok. The service area is small but there are loads of tables outside and they had 10+ flavours on offer.
Paula H — Google review
Ok beers. Service was a little hasty & lacking enthusiasm. Disappointing overall experience but the music and outdoor seating area was relaxing.

Very friendly and quite unique venue. Personally. Great pilsner shame the ginger beer is no longer sold. There is a food truck on site now too.

Palliser Estate Winery is a must-visit destination in Martinborough, New Zealand. Established in 1984, it stands as one of the region's leading wineries with groundbreaking vineyards that repurpose local farmlands. The estate offers year-round wine tasting sessions and features award-winning Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. Visitors can also enjoy meals from the on-site cooking school and explore the lovely conference space for special occasions.
We drove from Taranaki to try Palliser's new menu created by chef Norka,it was outstanding. Her Chilean influence in the menu made it incomparable to any other, fresh, earthy, using local produce and her flair for seafood gave the menu an extra twist, the meat dishes were also cook to perfection. We have a selection of everything included vegetarian. The wine matching sugestiones were perfect for the dishes. We can't wait to come back again soon. (Detail menu on website)

The Elevated Experience at Palliser Winery was exceptional from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival, and the wine tasting showcased a well-curated selection with knowledgeable staff providing insightful commentary. Lunch was expertly prepared and beautifully paired with the wines, making for a truly memorable dining experience. The staff were attentive, professional, and passionate about their offerings. Overall, I highly recommend the Elevated Experience to anyone visiting Martinborough seeking an outstanding winery visit.
Kryzll — Google review
The Elevated Experience was an extraordinary wine tasting experience—in our opinion, the best one during our wine trip to New Zealand. The wines we tasted, combined with the knowledge we received and the opportunity to visit different parts of the vineyard, made this experience truly special. The sommelier and cellar manager, Belen, made our group feel special while sharing much knowledge about Palliser Wines.
Eugen B — Google review
What a fantastic spot, just out of the main part of town (Martinborough). Did the wine tasting first up. Was a beautiful winter day so we sat outside and enjoyed the tasting before setting in for a delightful lunch outside by the fire pit. Food was very good, we chose the nicest wine we just tasted and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Highly recommend on a nice day.
Justin H — Google review
Great tasting in a great environment. We had less explanations on the wine than other wineries and the taste of the wine was also lower than others. Was still a very great experience!
Michael B — Google review
This is one of the best in the country!! Chef Norka has created an outstanding lunch menu which we paired with fantastic Palliser Rose and Pino Gris. Sopaipillas are a great taste bud starter. We were told Chilean street food and it didn’t disappoint. The Burrata was a highlight. Fresh, outstanding flavour combinations and looked fantastic. Loved the hot smoked salmon and then treated by chef to try the profiterole for a sweet treat. Highly recommend this winery for lunch. Deserves the chef hat it has been awarded. !!

We visited during the week so it was not very busy. The estate is beautiful, lunch was delish, service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend!

Te Kairanga Winery is located in Martinborough, surrounded by other wineries and attractions. The vineyard offers tastings of their award-winning Runholder Pinot Noir 2015, paired with delicious food prepared by Chef Mark Soper. Visitors can also enjoy the excellent rose and Te Tera Sauvignon Blanc. While signage can be confusing, the dining experience at Run Holder is highly recommended and reservations are advised due to its popularity.
Stunning setting within the vineyards. Friendly hosts. Food is one of the best in Marty
Sonya K — Google review
The Run Holder is in my oppinon one of the best places for eating in the greater Wellington area. Pays to book your table as I have not seen it empty. The service is top class, keep up the great standards. See you all again as soon as possible.
Graham W — Google review
Very professional staff member. She explained all about their history, vision for the future, got us to sample different wines and the gin in 3 different ways... lol. Exciting times as they build their new cellar door, distillery and cave.
Simon C — Google review
Just visited to buy some of their excellent rosé and the helpful lady in the tasting room introduced us to Te Tera Sauvignon Blanc which we also bought. One big gripe though. None of the roadside signage says TK, only referring to Runholder. This is unhelpful for out of towners like us as we were really confused and had to stop and ask a lady picnicking by the road.
Sharron C — Google review
Excellent selection of red wines - worth the long bike ride!
Chris F — Google review
Make sure you stop here on your tour. The wine and gin are top notch, great setting with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Made all the better by the awesome puppy on site! Try the mulled gin for something different. The wine and Lighthouse gin we bought won't last long!
Jeffy R — Google review
Such a disappointment as we had heard such good things about this place . We arrived for our reserved tasting on Saturday 3rd April and the place was busy. We had a reserved table and were seated. Our first tasting came 10 minutes later and the lady was too rushed to really explain the history of the vineyard or even the wine , they ran out of sheets showing the wines so we had one for the four of us. We then waited , then waited, then waited , the a bus full of people turned up and we waited and waited. After 45 minutes we left and went to our next vineyard. Such a shame as we were looking forward to taste their Chardonnay , Pinot noir and their Gin, but was not meant to be .
Charlie S — Google review
The customer service was appalling. After hearing great things about the food. We arrived ordered our wine (which was hardly a glass) and food, sat at a table until the lady behind the counter asked us to move out on to the ground outside for another pair of customers who where for some reason more important. Our food arrived to the table and the people sat at our table felt terrible and offered us to sit with them so we could eat our food. It just blows my mind that someone would even consider moving seated customers. She could have asked us if we were ok to share the table with these new people as there was enough room. Absolutely appalling!

We came to poppies about 8 years ago and it was fantastic. We came back this weekend. It was spectacular. The food, delightful, the ambiance was perfect, the staff so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Another great winery! Wines were a bit pricier than the last place (Moy Hall) but the service from the young guy at cellar door was exceptional. We stayed for lunch and had a platter plus bread and it was so tasty! I've never seen my husband so satisfied. It was great value and fed two adults and two children. Beautiful grounds too. Highly recommend.

Great service, advice and flavours of food and wine. Brent was well informed and interactive with the wine tasting - Sam was attentive as a waiter. Well worth a visiting Poppies in Martinborough. Highly recommended. Amazing day in the NZ sunshine!

Simply amazing. Wines were tasted with help from the French lady. Very nice. The food amazing simple to order. Tom the waiter was awesome too and took.good care and great photos of us. Really loverly place Doggo freindly.

Our wine tasting experience at Poppies was a blast! Thanks to Marine who offered the best service we ever had and made the tastings so fun (15$ for tasting of 5 wines). We were glad to live the experience in French and the wine from Poppies are of exceptional quality. Marine was a passionate that transmitted her passion of wine to us. I had a perception that Poppies was the most « touristic » winehard, but what i experience was a very warm and personal tasting that I will remember for my life. Do not hesitate to choose Poppies among all the choices available in Martinborough. We did other wineries and it was in no way comparable to Poppies.

Loved every minute of this dining experience. Toby and Robbie went out of their way to make our anniversary dinner soo special. Great options for the different courses but glad we decided on the recommendation from Toby for the world's best Bread and Butter in Martinborough ! This definitely lived up to the hype. Looking forward to our next visit 😀

We had a lovely evening during our honeymoon. Everybody was so friendly, they picked us up at the hotel so we didn’t have to drink and drive and they did everything to keep us happy throughout dinner. There’s a 3-course fixed menu where you can pick a starter, a main course and a dessert. We had a bottle of Pinot noir which was very genuine and pleasant to drink. Everything was worth our money and if we ever get a chance we’ll be back!
Federica N — Google review
Not much to add to the prior comments. This is a lovely place. The food is very good: i thought the pork belly and the bread and butter pudding were amazing. Lots of gluten free options of the standard menu. The vineyard, while very small - the wine is only available at the restaurant and for sale at the location - produces really good wines. I tasted the 2024 eternity (very fruity, nice balance) and the 2015 Heritage (this was really awesome, ready to drink, paired really nicely with the pork belly). As mentioned by others, the complimentary pick-up and drop-off shuttle service is a really nice touch.

Beautiful place! The service, hospitality and warmth received at this place is second to none!!! The staff introduce their dishes with pride in such great details and recommendations to pair drinks with food ordered is as good as what you get at fine dining restaurants. Really mind-blowing! Wasn’t expecting such service. In addition every single dish is wonderful! The meats were cooked just right, tender and juicy. The sides complemented the dishes well. Wine tasting experience was so much better than what I had experienced in France! This is one place I will never forget and would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The staff were exceptionally kind and welcoming, and the food was absolutely excellent. Such a memorable experience – highly recommended!

My husband and I came here for his birthday celebration. Started off with shuttle pick up from the accomodation to Tirohana Estate. When arriving there was welcome drink waiting and the staff were happy to accommodate my allergy to the pineapple in the drink and swapped it to apple. From there we were taken to our table and the lovely staff member went over the menu for the night and answered my queries to what I could have due to my allergies. Each course was delicious, especially the lamb shank with basmati rice. The timing for the courses was great as it gave us time to digest and settle. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable especially with drink suggestions to match dessert for my husband. At the end the staff were so kind and brought out chocolates with candle and sang happy birthday to my husband. Highly recommend Tirohana Estate Restaurant and Vineyard. From pick up to drop off, the experience was impeccable. A big thank for a wonderful night to Tirohana Estate team.

This place is amazing, from the local shuttle pickup in town to the family feel of the entire experience, this was an absolute dream dining experience. You MUST order the sticky pudding, it was heavenly, best I’ve ever had!

Highly recommended! We had an amazing dinner —the best since we’ve been in New Zealand—accompanied by some excellent wine. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make the evening perfect. They even offer a shuttle service, so you don’t have to worry about driving after wine tasting. The restaurant itself is also very charming and cozy!

Great friendly staff, the food was amazing, I was visiting from out of town, so glad we pick this place up, you will not be disappointed with the quality of food, the prices were very fair as well, I would definitely come back here for a feed if I’m ever up this way again.

Lovely little cafe, excellent food, a little pricey. Atmosphere was lovely and not very busy, we were there around 11am on a Thursday. They have a cute little outdoor seating area as well, though we sat inside. Everything tasted lovely, the service was a little slow but nothing major. Would definitely recommend, though be prepared to spend some money on smaller portions. Still, worth it if you’re willing to spend. Quality food and presentation. $20-$30 per person.

Cute little cafe with great service. We had the scramble which was very good and the beef cheeks - unfortunately the beef cheeks were extremely salty. Good coffee.

Cute cafe, which is perfect place for brunch. There are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Recommend the scrambled tofu.

I had the Chai Porridge, and tasted my friends' Spanish Eggs, quesadilla, and Beef Cheek Hash - the best food I've ever had at a cafe! The staff were very friendly and approachable. The food in the case looked amazing. We went back again because the food was so good. I had the cheese scone the second time. Delicious! It's a MUST-DO in Martinborough. It was raining and cold so everyone was inside but they also have outdoor seating and if it were a lovely day and people were spread out a bit more, I'd give the atmosphere 5 stars too.

This place is the perfect little brunch spot. All the staff are so friendly as soon as you walk in. The food was fantastic! We tried the avocado bruschetta with bacon and the eggs benedict with salmon. We highly recommend this place!

One of the best brunch locations I‘ve ever been to in NZ. I especially liked the cultural mix between indonesian and continental food. I can recommend the Nasi Goreng!

This place is amazing. I had the steak sandwich and my wife had the chicken halumi salad. We were both thrilled with our selections. The steak was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and a very large portion. I have been trying to eat better...but trust me... don't skip the fries. They are delicious. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was to notch as well. Lots of nice choices in Martinborough, but put this on the top of your list.

Karahui Wine Bar & Eatery is a trendy establishment situated in the town square, offering an exceptional dining experience. The menu boasts a diverse range of vegan dishes and a meticulously chosen array of both local and international wines. Housed in the historic BNZ building, this eatery presents contemporary sharing plates that pair perfectly with Martinborough's local wines as well as those from around the world.
Food was so good, had the cured Salmon and Venison loin which was next level. Sides and wines rounded things off perfectly. Only thing that just missed the mark was the fish which was a touch over. Other than that picky thing to note everything was spot on. Staff were so helpful as we’re happy to switch us to an outside table so we could enjoy an awesome warm evening. Recommended…

We enjoyed a delicious meal at Karahui when we stayed in Martinborough. I had the duck leg which was delicious and my partner had the snapper which she said was very good! For dessert we shared the chocolate terrine which was a very nice dessert - the richness of the chocolate was balanced nicely with some orange zest jelly and espresso mousse. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating! The inside of the restaurant is very nice as well, it had a great atmosphere for our date night! Definitely worth popping in for a meal if you are in the area!

Delightful night out dining in the what was once the bank vault. Was great to meet Grant & listen to his stories - working for Gordon Ramsay being one of them. Grants service was professional & friendly in a word, superb. There was a great wine selection & many by the glass. The food was beautifully cooked and presented & we didn’t have to wait long. Deserts were beautiful & enjoyed. Would definitely recommend & encourage you to check it out for yourself. The attention to detail of the interior design is stunning, with an eclectic mix of furniture, art works, lighting, even the restrooms are worth a visit! While the building is old, it has a lovely blend of modern touches without losing the charm & character of the building. Make sure you take a wander. We felt it was great value for money & thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience! Came here with my wife for our anniversary. Staff were lovely and even gave us a complimentary sparkling wine! The food was outstanding! Everything was amazing, the pork belly melted in your mouth and same with the beef cheeks! My wife had the duck which was beautiful as well and the polenta was so creamy. Very delicate meal and can't wait to come back soon.

OMG, about once a year we treat ourselves to dinner or lunch at the award winning Craggy Range or Black Barn restaurants in the Hawkes Bay (our home). But now what do we do? This vibrant eatery offers an enticing menu filled with bold and delicious dishes like dumplings, noodles, and spicy curries that are sure to satisfy adventurous palates. I love Asian food. Great staff, cozy atmosphere, convenient location. Highly recommend!

Some of the food was a hit and miss - like the Prawn Toast and Chicken Satay. The toast was oily and soggy and the chicken satay was dry. The Roast Duck was not actually Roasted but crispy fried. Though it was juicy and tender. This was good. The Pork Belly Roti was interesting. Pork was flavourful and well cooked but the roti was not. Still alright I guess. Also had the Fish Ceviche. This was the best of the lot.

I am from the home of great Thai food, Sydney Australia. This is good food with a solid street food vibe. There is great outdoor dining space and the staff are bright and friendly. They were run off their feet the night we were there and were desperately calling around to get more help on the floor. A good feed with a couple of beers for 2, for less than 100$NZ. Recommended

Google-searched ‘restaurants’ for a quick lunch whilst in Martinborough town centre for the first time. “Okay, how about we try this ‘Crouching Tiger’ for a change”. Didn’t get excited upon sighting our ordered meals. But, and but...I was wrong. Was amazed and astounded how fresh and beautiful their dishes were. Fusion. Reinvention? The PadThai and their pork belly/salad with a hint of mint...hmmm. Go try them yourselves..

The worse!! Starting with I had to say twice hi on the bar, before getting noticed. Even though we didn’t aspect much because is was 2pm but even “street food menu” was terrible. The bao buns tested ok as was full of mayo and tiny slide of dry pork for $10. But the fresh spring rolls was a winner of the worse dish, red cabbage and restless prows with the care free put together with dead coriander 🤯🤦🏼‍♀️
