We visited this winery for a tasting during a tour. It is a lovely winery and our host Kate is very knowledgeable and has a fun personality. The wines were very flavourful. Would definitely recommend this winery.

We went to Margrain because they were playing music and it was our first wine tasting in Martinborough. Tries the premium wine flight which was very good. My choice was Rose bubbles, Riesling, Chardonnay and two Pinot Noir’s. Enjoyed the lot. There is the Vinyard tasting and the wine flight from the Vinyard cafe. The music was outstanding. Met some locals and had great fun. Might not be the very best wine but hey we enjoyed it. Would go again. 😀🇳🇿🇬🇧

This time we were there for the food. Very pleased with the friendly staff, great surroundings and prefect food. Reasonable prices. Noted that their wine prices are also great. We will come back again (3rd time) and buy more wine.

Really nice outside area with picnic tables and umbrellas. We were seated and served quickly. We ordered a salami pizza which wasn’t great. Felt like it was swimming in cheese. Found it hard to get another wine and eventually gave up on trying to get the staffs attention and just went and ordered from the front desk. Really nice setting and worth a visit

My favourite testing by far all the wines were amazing, service was great an did I mention how nice the wine Was? Cupboard now has started a collection of Margrain wine.

We came to poppies about 8 years ago and it was fantastic. We came back this weekend. It was spectacular. The food, delightful, the ambiance was perfect, the staff so helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Another great winery! Wines were a bit pricier than the last place (Moy Hall) but the service from the young guy at cellar door was exceptional. We stayed for lunch and had a platter plus bread and it was so tasty! I've never seen my husband so satisfied. It was great value and fed two adults and two children. Beautiful grounds too. Highly recommend.

Our wine tasting experience at Poppies was a blast! Thanks to Marine who offered the best service we ever had and made the tastings so fun (15$ for tasting of 5 wines). We were glad to live the experience in French and the wine from Poppies are of exceptional quality. Marine was a passionate that transmitted her passion of wine to us. I had a perception that Poppies was the most « touristic » winehard, but what i experience was a very warm and personal tasting that I will remember for my life. Do not hesitate to choose Poppies among all the choices available in Martinborough. We did other wineries and it was in no way comparable to Poppies.

We were very fortunate and got to do a wine tasting with Poppy. She was so passionate about her wines and really helped us to understand the process that went into making them. Each wine we tasted was exceptional, but we loved the Pinot Gris so much that we bought some to take home. The staff here are all so friendly and helpful, which creates a lovely atmosphere. If you are looking at different wineries ensure that you put Poppies at the top of the list, you won't be disappointed.

The Elevated Experience at Palliser Winery was exceptional from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival, and the wine tasting showcased a well-curated selection with knowledgeable staff providing insightful commentary. The Elevated Experience was an extraordinary wine tasting experience—in our opinion, the best one during our wine trip to New Zealand. The wines we tasted, combined with the knowledge we received and the opportunity to visit different parts of the vineyard, made this experience truly special. The sommelier and cellar manager, Belen, made our group feel special while sharing much knowledge about Palliser Wines.

What a fantastic spot, just out of the main part of town (Martinborough). Did the wine tasting first up. Was a beautiful winter day so we sat outside and enjoyed the tasting before setting in for a delightful lunch outside by the fire pit. Food was very good, we chose the nicest wine we just tasted and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Highly recommend on a nice day.

Lunch was simply outstanding. From the moment we were greeted on arrival and looked after during our wonderful dining experience was amazing. The meal and accompanying wine were top class. The portion sizes were so generous we had no room for desert. I’ve been raving about our experience to everyone and consequently have been informed that the Symphony of Apple desert is to die for…. we’ll be back.

This is one of the best in the country!! Chef Norka has created an outstanding lunch menu which we paired with fantastic Palliser Rose and Pino Gris. Sopaipillas are a great taste bud starter. We were told Chilean street food and it didn’t disappoint. The Burrata was a highlight. Fresh, outstanding flavour combinations and looked fantastic. Loved the hot smoked salmon and then treated by chef to try the profiterole for a sweet treat. Highly recommend this winery for lunch. Deserves the chef hat it has been awarded. !!

We visited during the week so it was not very busy. The estate is beautiful, lunch was delish, service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend!

The Run Holder is in my oppinon one of the best places for eating in the greater Wellington area. Pays to book your table as I have not seen it empty. The service is top class, keep up the great standards. See you all again as soon as possible.

Very professional staff member. She explained all about their history, vision for the future, got us to sample different wines and the gin in 3 different ways... lol. Exciting times as they build their new cellar door, distillery and cave.

Just visited to buy some of their excellent rosé and the helpful lady in the tasting room introduced us to Te Tera Sauvignon Blanc which we also bought. One big gripe though. None of the roadside signage says TK, only referring to Runholder. This is unhelpful for out of towners like us as we were really confused and had to stop and ask a lady picnicking by the road.

Make sure you stop here on your tour. The wine and gin are top notch, great setting with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Made all the better by the awesome puppy on site! Try the mulled gin for something different. The wine and Lighthouse gin we bought won't last long!

Such a disappointment as we had heard such good things about this place . We arrived for our reserved tasting on Saturday 3rd April and the place was busy. We had a reserved table and were seated. Our first tasting came 10 minutes later and the lady was too rushed to really explain the history of the vineyard or even the wine , they ran out of sheets showing the wines so we had one for the four of us. We then waited , then waited, then waited , the a bus full of people turned up and we waited and waited. After 45 minutes we left and went to our next vineyard. Such a shame as we were looking forward to taste their Chardonnay , Pinot noir and their Gin, but was not meant to be .

The customer service was appalling. After hearing great things about the food. We arrived ordered our wine (which was hardly a glass) and food, sat at a table until the lady behind the counter asked us to move out on to the ground outside for another pair of customers who where for some reason more important. Our food arrived to the table and the people sat at our table felt terrible and offered us to sit with them so we could eat our food. It just blows my mind that someone would even consider moving seated customers. She could have asked us if we were ok to share the table with these new people as there was enough room. Absolutely appalling!

Super cool location. However, $32 for a tasting paddle of 4x150ml is ridiculous. The beer was okay. $12 dollars per 330ml is still quite steep, but a bit more understandable for 1 beer. In a town with so many awesome wineries, it would be nice to have a great brewery for us beer lovers.. this doesn't quite hit the mark.

Group of 5 of us arrived for some tastings etc, man behind the bar was rude and dismissive because we couldn't decide what we wanted to try. A bit of effort into some suggestions and conversation would have been nice. Isn't that your job? When we said we'll go outside and have a think, he rolled his eyes and said "yeah good idea" whole time continuing to talk to what must have been a regular. Didn't bother staying, went to the new Marty's joint in town and had wonderful service and food. Shame because it seems like it would have been nice spot to have a drink even though prices are fairly steep also.

Lovely brewery with great beer and value for money platters. Can recommend the Ohio APA. Testing paddles with options of 4 or 8 and half or full glasses. A window provides a view into the brewery.

A busy little place with a great selection of locally brewed beers. They have a good value tasting board option if you're not sure what to get. They had good seating but I'd recommend booking on a nice day as they were busy and fully booked.

If you’re not a wine lover then this place is for you. I don’t drink craft beer but they had a cider on offer which was ok. The service area is small but there are loads of tables outside and they had 10+ flavours on offer.

Ok beers. Service was a little hasty & lacking enthusiasm. Disappointing overall experience but the music and outdoor seating area was relaxing.

The lady here was absolutely horrible, I couldn’t believe when I was eating my lunch at the place next to it when she started telling people not to go there all because she doesn’t like them. She kept giving me horrible looks and made me feel so unwelcomed in the outside space, I wouldn’t give this lady any bussiness as she’s rude and takes away neighbours bussiness as she herself is ripping people off with the prices of the wines as you can get those wines cheaper at any other local supermarket, bottle store or even just winery’s in general

When I was in the store, the owner was being very rude and making negative comments. The same wine can be purchased at the local supermarket for at least 15% less. Over priced!!

We had a lovely evening during our honeymoon. Everybody was so friendly, they picked us up at the hotel so we didn’t have to drink and drive and they did everything to keep us happy throughout dinner. There’s a 3-course fixed menu where you can pick a starter, a main course and a dessert. We had a bottle of Pinot noir which was very genuine and pleasant to drink. Everything was worth our money and if we ever get a chance we’ll be back!

Beautiful place! The service, hospitality and warmth received at this place is second to none!!! The staff introduce their dishes with pride in such great details and recommendations to pair drinks with food ordered is as good as what you get at fine dining restaurants. Really mind-blowing! Wasn’t expecting such service. In addition every single dish is wonderful! The meats were cooked just right, tender and juicy. The sides complemented the dishes well. Wine tasting experience was so much better than what I had experienced in France! This is one place I will never forget and would highly recommend.

Booked a high tea on a misty Monday afternoon. What a wonderful way to spend a few hours, the restaurant is so cozy with lovely decor and a crackling fire, the welcome is equally as warm with friendly banter and the food delicious, thoughtfully designed with a tasty range of treats. I'm vegan and very used to un inventive options quickly made up to cover my diet. It wasn't the case here, each layer was a treat and my tiers looked as beautiful as the regular offerings. Thank you so much for making our visit so enjoyable and memorable.

My husband and I came here for his birthday celebration. Started off with shuttle pick up from the accomodation to Tirohana Estate. When arriving there was welcome drink waiting and the staff were happy to accommodate my allergy to the pineapple in the drink and swapped it to apple. From there we were taken to our table and the lovely staff member went over the menu for the night and answered my queries to what I could have due to my allergies. Each course was delicious, especially the lamb shank with basmati rice. The timing for the courses was great as it gave us time to digest and settle. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable especially with drink suggestions to match dessert for my husband. At the end the staff were so kind and brought out chocolates with candle and sang happy birthday to my husband. Highly recommend Tirohana Estate Restaurant and Vineyard. From pick up to drop off, the experience was impeccable. A big thank for a wonderful night to Tirohana Estate team.

This place is amazing, from the local shuttle pickup in town to the family feel of the entire experience, this was an absolute dream dining experience. You MUST order the sticky pudding, it was heavenly, best I’ve ever had!

We visited Moy Hall yesterday where they were very accommodating as we didn't have a booking. We also had 2 babies with us, there was plenty of room for the prams and we were given a lovely spot to sit by the grapevines. The shared menu was beautiful, we ordered 4 plates of food plus bread and a bottle of wine. It cost $70 between 3 people which was quite reasonable for the high quality of food and beautiful ambiance. We had the pinot gris which although not a game changer, was still lovely to drink!

Moy Hall offers a fantastic wine tasting experience with customized flights and excellent table service. While the front counter can be a bit disorganized the atmosphere more than makes up for it. A must visit for wine lovers.

I had the pleasure of visiting Moy Hall for a friend’s 30th. Our group had a wonderful set menu lunch. The gnocchi, salmon and lamb were excellent. I also enjoyed some lovely wines and the service was outstanding. Beautiful atmosphere on a beautiful day.

Even though the weather was wet and I had a lovely time with my kids. Food was great, really good chance to try various wines with different food matches. The waiter was very attentive.

Wow what an incredible place, we did the wine tasting, ate lunch and bought some bottles of wine. Everything was just amazing to the point where we’re considering coming back the next day. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I can’t remember the name of the lady that did our wine tasting but she was awesome and even offered to take photos of us under the archway entrance. 10/10 would highly recommend

A real gem. The food is amazing. Just delicious. Fabulous wine and a setting that is gorgeous. If you’re travelling to Martinborough then booking here for lunch will not be a mistake. The staff are lovely great service and the beef cheek and lamb are two of the best dishes in head in a long time. Will definitely recommend it and will be going back.

We rode bicycles in from Martinborough; the scenery was great and they had a dedicated bike park. We had a wine tasting and some small plates for lunch. The wine was lovely and we bought a bottle to take home. Service was great throughout. My specific comment is about the food. Though it's billed as Korean fried chicken, the dish was the closest thing to New York City-style Sesame Chicken I've ever had in New Zealand! They also serve steamed rice and roasted broccoli, so you could in theory assemble a NYC Chinese takeout plate as your lunch.

Another great test kitchen evening at Luna! It was the final test kitchen night and was a collection of the best dishes over the past few months and it was awesome! We loved every dish and the wine was equally tasty. If you're staying in Martinborough over the time of year that Luna do their test kitchen menu it's an absolute must and it all helps create a stellar menu for the year round dining at Luna which we regularly enjoy. We'll keep returning :-)

Such a lovely setting, friendly service and of course fantastic food and wine. Love the sharing plates and the care and love that goes into each dish. Highly recommend for a relaxed and classy experience.

The godfather and mother of Martinborough Pinot Noir. The region does do other grapes, there is some solid Chardonnay and Riesling around but if you are in Martinborough you are here for the Pinot Noir and Atarangi is where it started. Ask about the origin of the "Gumboot clone" for an entertaining story. There is an Old and a New tasting room, both are excellent. The wines are fantastic, and they ship all over the world. The single vineyard Pinot Noirs where of particular note but I can't go past the Atarangi Estate offering. If you are looking to start collecting and looking for age worthy NZ Pinot, start here

My wife & I went here as part of a stop on a Martinborough private wine tour (mid-March 2025). Beautiful outdoor scenery, a luxurious tasting room and friendly/helpful staff. All the wines were exceptional, especially the Pinot Noir, in which we bought a bottle for ourselves. Not only reasonably priced, and as a added bonus, also part of the New Zealand Wine Collective for international orders. Highly recommended if you're touring the wine region! :)

The wine is amazing, if you get to taste the Rosé you’ll have an amazing time and the Pinot Noir is also very good, round and tasty in the mouth. We were welcomed by an amazing host and spent a nice half hour tasting the wines. It’s free BTW, which is always good !

Quite a bougee, classy winery that offers a free 45-minute tasting session with an accompanying talk by a knowledgeable sommelier. Very attentive but unintrusive staff, and no pressure to buy anything. The $40 dessert Riesling was absolutely outstanding.

Quite a stylish place for dinner in a beautiful setting of this old wodden hotel. The food was good and service staff really nice and helpful.

A bit disappointed about the food. Didn't got what I ordered, we had to do it the day before. And I couldn't remember it at that time. Although there was a list, to look at for them. I do understand the situation. It was" overly busy," and they did all to please us. Even serving the dessert with a candle for my birthday. So, I should be very thankful, and I am.

Every mouth full was delicious, flavors and quality of food were amazing, fantastic atmosphere, wonderful location, we normally only go to Martinborough once a year, but not sure I can wait that long before we return to the Union Square!

We love this place so much that we rave about it to our friends and family back in the US. We rarely go to movies as the theaters in our area are very large, not clean, and ridiculously expensive. This is a small theater, which is very clean and extremely comfortable (The seats are amazing!) not only are they very comfortable with cupholders, but if someone sits in front of you, there is still tons of legroom and they are much lower so you can comfortably see the screen. The staff are professional yet warm and kind - for example, I ordered a drink along with some treats, then went into the theater with my group but without my drink. I had just realized that I'd forgotten it when a lovely staff member (owner?) showed up and brought it to my seat! One of the highlights for us is the food! They also have a restaurant with creative and delicious meals, and will bring orders to you during the movie, if you would prefer to eat while watching the movie. We had the lamb pizza last night, and it was delicious!! The rotation of their movies is quick, and often, but there is always a large selection, and almost always something playing that we would like to see. Check out their website!

Honestly one of the best Pizzas I’ve had in recent memory. Get the lamb pizza - Crispy base and delicious toppings. My Friends and I were stoked, came over from wellys and spent a long weekend in Marty and honestly this was our best food the whole weekend. Saw they have a cinema too, will definitely be coming back to watch a movie and have a pizza again - highly recommend

Good service. But ribs had foil stuck to them. Base of the kids pizza was burnt. Did raise with management who apologised and provided a discount - however we would not return for the food.

We just visited the cinema. It is a nice, small and cozy cinema, especially suitable for families. It is located in the heart of Martinborough and really fits into the town‘s vibe. It was a great experience and always nice to support smaller businesses. They play all the new movies, just like the big cinemas and the quality is the same. When visisting this one, you get an even more unique experience. (Sadly the popcorn come out of a bag and are reallyyy expensive for the small amount you get.)

Brilliant little local cinema with its own in-house restaurant! The food here is excellent, and the wines are nearly all local (and also excellent). The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. They also knew which wines to recommend with each dish - very impressed. There are two small cinema screens here, and you can bring food from the restaurant in too. Great place. Recommended!

Brilliant wine tasting here! Lots of information given, yummy wines, and an overall lovely personal experience. The German wine maker offered us what felt like a private wine tasting, and we left very happy!

We were hesitant to visit because of the reviews talking about poor customer service, however, we were welcomed with a smile! Either they listened to the feedback or we came on a good day, but both the wines and the lovely lady working there were great.😊

We have been coming here for many years but this time it wasn't the same! No service, no explanation of the wines you're expected to read the wine notes on paper, and when commenting on one of the wines the server was rude. Just lost the fun and adventure in that. What made my wine tasting enjoyable was the painting attached!

Rent a bike and meader through New Zealand's wine region. Be sure to visit Shubert's for a really refreshing rose unlike any rose you may be familiar with. Light airy and endlessly refreshing. Few tanins make it easy to drink. Views of the surrounding hills are gorgeous. They are known for their Pinot which is also delightful.

Very small in size but big on accommodation. There was a group of 8 inside when I showed up along with a van tour, another car of 2, then another 7 on bicycles. Got to enjoy 5 wines from a rose to a unique white and three reds. We all enjoyed the wines outside in perfect weather.

Huge fair with 400+ stallholders. Crafts plants food and so much more. Don't be tempted to park as soon as you see cars. There are always options closer to town. Go early when not so crowded especially on a hot day. First Saturday of Feb and March every year.

Nice play to visit if you you enjoy walking around and looking at what is on sale. We had a good day brought things that we were looking for. Lovely day very hot lots of people all doing the same thing just. make sure you stay hydrated we will definitely go back again

Lovely day out. We went early to get a close park. Lots of stalls to buy goods from. People were friendly and helpful. The lady on the microphone was funny an excellent job.

Great array of stalls and foods to try. Incredibly, intensely crowded though. I would only advise going very early to avoid the worst of it. Don't bring your dogs please, it's really a terrible environment for them. It's also very hard to navigate a stroller around because of the crowds, next time I would bring a baby carrier instead.

We were told (more than once) "it's really good if the weather is nice". Well, today the weather was a bit average and the fair was as well. It was probably a little too cramped for my personal liking - if you're not a big fan of crowded places, I'd stay around the outside and avoid the square. We got some delicious Venison Salami, but everything else was just... OK.

Everyone was kicked out of Ata Rangi at 6.40pm, before Toast was meant to finish. Everyone was underpouring wine, food was grossly over priced (TINIEST paua skewers for $12 at Luna, omg, more like a toothpick). Band at Ata Rangi were terrible.. Honestly, just felt like we were getting reamed for $ all day long and no one wanted to offer any good service in return. Also, where were the busses?! Didn't even see one all day long. Wont come again.

Great experience.. can end up an expensive weekend with the ticket cost accommodation and having to pay for all food and drink on the day at the festival. A must do at least once. Fantastic music and the wine and food available was divine!

Loads of drunk people, make sure you are at the 1st stop end of the day otherwise you will be waiting for hrs to get a bus back to the square.

Great day out, highly recommended. A few years ago, the event lost it's way a bit, but in recent years the organisers have put a lot of work into rebuilding it. Check it out, you won't be disappointed

I was really disappointed this year when I went to The Martinborough Toast. I had expected to do some wine tasting or at least see some offers for a couple of different sampling. Not only did I pay $90 to attend the event which I presume goes towards the vineyard owners , Just for a glass of wine it cost $12 upwards. I could get a bottle for that. I can now understand why the numbers has dropped off for people attending. And I believe if the prices were more reasonable the sellers would sell more wine in the long run and make more profits. And after the event more of their stock would sell in the long run. Greed tends to ruin things in the end. I highly doubt I will be going again.

Kitcheners definitely value for money, breakfast delicious and good portions. Staff friendly and efficient. Clean and inviting. Visited 2x in 1 day. Would recommend.

Very informative tasting session, great flavors, plenty to choose from, came away with a lighter purse! Also lovely gardens and grounds to wander. Definitely recommend even if you don't buy.

If you love a high quality olive oil, don’t miss this place. Couple of different varieties to choose from. Definitely will come back.

Great visit! The owner provide very informative introduction for the products. Happy to answer lots of questions from us. Highly recommended to try the infused oil. They are marvellous! The garden is very beautifully maintained too.

Amazing host ,very lovely range of olive to taste from , and they also have the oldest olive tree in NZ (commercial trees), 30 years old trees.

Owned by people who really ate knowledgeable about olives and olive oil. The tastings were awesome and we purchased two small bottles of olive oil, the handmade soap, and the jarred olives. The soap is absolutely one of a kind, and I always use great soaps. The olive oil is wonderful however, I would skip the jarred olives.

A really enjoyable visit! Had such a good tour learning about all the different types of olive trees and the process of making olive oil. So many delicious tastings. Just a marvellous time

Good and bad. Good because the wine is always good, the setting is lovely and there is a good story to tell my tour customers. Bad because without Neil you do not have someone behind the tasting bar that can do an interesting tasting AND sell your wine. 5 wines were tasted in about 10 minutes and then we were out the door, and the place was not busy. No-one can make a buying decision in those circumstances.

Excellent selection of wines and super friendly staff.

Most disgusting service we have ever experienced. We arrived with no booking and instantly she had a change in attitude as if we were a annoyance simply by being there. When one of our girls asked what colours they have (she is not knowledgeable on wine) as she doesn't like reds. She was promptly told she was to drunk to be served "becouse she asked a question like that" when she actually was sober. We told the lady this and were kicked out for "back chatting". Worst experience ever and the most obnoxious host.

A cute little cafe! Great breakfast and coffee! It can be very crowded at about 10 a.m. which makes the whole experience more stressful. It was quite noisy in there as well, due to the mass of people.

Absolutely lovely place for a coffee and lunch! Staff are super friendly and helpful with questions about Gluten free options. Coffee is great and the food is awesome!

A busy cafe with positive, energetic staff who have the service running well and are also obviously having a good time working. Good coffee and cabinet food selection both savoury and sweet. The cafe is missing a cooked breakfast offering. Maybe the kitchen is too small to offer the next level of food items? All in all, a great experience after having walked out of another local cafe who didn't have the same level of efficiency in their service.

Ill be honest this is a great place if your a noter, like to be seen and a bit showey, but that's where the posh nosh peeps go. The service was good but better if you were friends or visited regularly. But what a lovely place. This is where the Wellingtoions go for a get away, a great area to visit. The food missed the mark to be honest, great wine and average food. Portions a bit sparce and overpriced. But put the negative comments aside and go, enjoy and make your own decisions on how your day goes here.

Really great atmosphere here - busy but the staff were really efficient and we didn't wait long. Had an iced latte (which was divine) and a chicken pasta salad. We also ordered a pie and beef sandwich. Everyone enjoyed their food and we had a great seat by the window. I'll definitely keep this place in mind when I'm back in Martinborough.

We stopped by Coney Wines without a booking, but the staff welcomed us warmly and found us a cozy spot to sit. The atmosphere was inviting, and it was immediately evident that we were in for a treat. We ordered a couple of glasses of their fine wine along with some delectable sides. I have to say, the wine selection was top-notch and paired incredibly well with our food choices. Speaking of food, the quality was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What really made our visit memorable was the staff. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel at home. If you’re looking for a relaxed environment with high-quality wine and exceptional food, Coney Wines should be at the top of your list.

Well this place is special. Not just for it's variety of wines but it's perfect food. I was lucky enough to try every savory dish on the menu. Every dish scored a bullseye. Clearly the kitchen is well stocked with a huge variety of fresh and quality ingredients and some talented chefs. Lovely covered courtyard settings with pull down wind screens if needed. Highly recommended.

I called Wellington home for nearly 20 years, but now live overseas. But everytime I'm home, I try to get to Martinborough and Coney's is top of my list. It's everything to love about New Zealand - great food and wine, lovely scenery, and staff who are personable, warm, and will go above and beyond to make your time memorable. The wine is fantastic (especially the Riesling varieties) and the platters from 3 Little Words are epic! Highly recommend to anyone visiting Martinborough.

Not kids friendly, I changed my baby in the toilet and the waitress come to my table and asked me to collect the dirty dippers that I left in the toilet bin. Probably if you are period you have to take your pads with you as well.

Don't be deceived by the unassuming entrance and tasting room that looks like a personal office. The wines we had here were delicious and reasonably priced! As a small operation, the owner served us himself and shared his wealth of knowledge. Wonderful experience! They also have homemade jams and olive oil available for purchase.

Lovely friendly staff. We ordered two whites and decided to try two reds as the wine was so good. We ordered a platter and it was huge! More than enough for 2 people. The homemade chutney was amazing. Worth a visit. The outdoor area is perfect for relaxing.

Cute little vineyard with a private garden setting with shade options. For tastings, it $10 for 4 wines, per person. Unlike other vineyards, there are a variety of platters on offer and we had the cheese platter which was plentiful and delicious with 6 different cheese options plus homemade relishes. You can also taste their homemade preserves with the fig preserve being the absolute best.

There are few things better than sharing a Nga Waka pizza on a sunny afternoon, coupled with a glass of excellent wine. We like the Pro Funghi, although some of the specials are pretty good too. My partner loves the Sauvignon Blanc, while I go for the Home Block Pinot Noir. All coupled with superb service, usually from Orla. Just perfect.

Amazing pizzas with a fantastic combination of flavours. The service was 10/10. ! I highly recommend this place. The Chardonnay was excellent too

Absolutely LOVED the pizza (which admittedly was the main reason for our purpose as we find most vineyards in Martinborough need some serious work in the food/platter department. The setting was wonderful, as were the wines, and we were treated extremely well by Nick and the other staff. Highly recommend, will return

Easter Saturday ....Perfect day for a pizza and glass of wine - until we turned up to be told by the manic Maitre D ..... it's a busy long weekend .... you can't sit outside ( we had no booking...we were walk-ins) neither did quite a few other walk-ins I might add though....who got seated out in the sun by other wait staff .... her manic energy was incredible to witness - the other wait staff there were awesome, the pizza amazing, the waiter who ran up the bill was really friendly ... they were all people people .... if you can't handle 5 tables and a walk-in for 4 ....you're in the wrong business honey.... I really wouldn't go back after that.

Nga Waka is one of the new vineyards in Martinborough who have a lovely rose - so lovely we bought two! This one is on the busy main road in, however there is a back entrance that is easier to access if you’re on a bicycle.

Great experience here! Wine tastings are currently $3 each for 30ml and John was absolutely amazing. Beautiful setting and gorgeous facility! A must do on your Martinborough wine tour!

I have hired bikes on two occasions when I've had family come to visit with this company and I must say they are the loveliest, friendliest most helpful bunch. They really care about your experience and want you to have the best time. The helped us out with recommendations and greeted us with good energy and friendly banter. They were also very fair with timings and pricing and very professional. They allowed us to test out some different options and we loved the bikes we hired. I recommend this company to anyone.

Great experience overall. The shop had all sorts of options (traditional bicycles, tricycles, tandem bikes, and electric versions of everything). My wife and I chose a bicycle and a tricycle. The staff explained pricing and that helped us pick the best option for us. Equipment was in perfect working order and we had a great day!

What a brilliant day out on the Remutaka Cycle Trail! In addition to Green Jersey providing a fantastic gravel bike, I had great company and conversations. Highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the area by bike for a day or multi-day bike ride! Thank you!

We had a fabulous time riding around the vineyards on the 7 seater conference bike. It was super easy to steer and pedal. We felt like celebrities as everyone waved at us!

We had our own bikes, so used Green Jersey as a shuttle service. Joe and his crew were really friendly, helpful and accommodating. They took great care with our bikes and drove safely and courteously. Joe's chat on the way over to Maymorn, was interesting and informative. Wouldn't hesitate to use again. And definitely recommend their services.

Absolutely brilliant day out in Martinborough I highly recommend. We had the tandem bike bought for us as a gift and was a bit nervous but it was fine! All the vineyards are absolutely gorgeous and so much wine and food to try. We didn't pre-book anything as just 2 of us and was fine. Staff at green jersey were really helpful in marking out a route for us on the map provided with recommendations.

We have booked cape palliser tour after looking for the best day trip out of Wellington. Unfortunately, the weather was not so kind. However, our guide Joe is awesome. Bring us to see the seal, the sheep and try his utmost best to bring us to see the cattle farm. Our whole family has an enjoyable trip! Thanks Joe and Stuart, both of you are brilliant!

Fantastic spot amongst the Vines, we went for a birthday just the two of us and the provided a candle on the dessert. We got two different pizzas and they were absolutely fantastic, my pizza was the best perfect crust and super jucy (not wet but just full of flavor). The wine was also very good

Colombo in Martinborough is an absolute gem. The pizzas are some of the best I have had - thin, crispy bases with generous, high-quality toppings that are perfectly balanced in flavor. Each bite tastes fresh and authentic, making it the ideal spot for sharing with friends over a glass of wine.

Summer vibe with pizza and wine, good place to get outdoors with kids or friends. If you are looking for GF pizza just as good as regular pizza this is the place, we have had so many places with GF base which is so artificial and chewy but here we were so amazed to see how good GF base pizza were damn delicious could not tell difference!! Their menu is compact but the flavours are beautiful.

Great spot for casual dining at a great price point. The covered area is perfect for the closer or wetter days and the team were proactive emailing prior and suggesting warmer dress for a cooler day. The pizza and cheese board were devine.

Everyone in my group got a different pizza and we couldn’t fault a single one! It’s little bit more casual than some of the other vineyards in the area and we loved it.

My friend and I had a lovely lunch at Colombo during our recent visit there. Two mums with our 3 boys (5yo and 8-9yos) - there was plenty of outdoor space and outdoor games for the rascals to entertain themselves. They loved running through the vines and enjoying the outdoors setting. The food was great - we loved our pizzas, I’d only suggest diversifying the platter a bit more, as it was a touch basic. The Sav I tried was great. The staff were very friendly. We did book the day before for 11:30am, and as anywhere in Martinborough during the busy season - I recommend you pre book to maximise your experience. I’ll be definitely coming again with the whole family - this time with hubby driving, so I can enjoy more of the wine selection!

Visited a few weeks ago with family and it was great- nice wine and we had a good chat to the owner. We've had 6 bottles delivered which we can't wait to drink. Would definitely recommend a trip to Tiwaiwaka when you're in Martinborough.

I love this place, its a little gem in Martinborough. Very much like old times in the area. The owner's are so welcoming and the wine so tasty. My husband is not a Merlot drinker and usually avoids, but he said the one here is the best he has had. The atmosphere is relaxed, take your time. Enjoy the scenery and quiet time, love it!. We ordered the platter for 2. Can honestly say it's the best thought out platter we've ever had at a winery. There were cheeses, deli meats and homemade condiments that all jelled well together all locally sourced and the owner told us exactly what the flavours were, where she brought it from so you could go grab some yourself. Very welcoming and personal touch to the customer services. Have been here 3 times and look coming again next time. Thank you so much. It made my anniversary a special one 😍

Delicious wines and food platter with home made (and partially grown) foods. Very friendly winemaker family. It was a beautiful day so we could sit in the nice shaded garden. I would definitely recommend making a stop here when you're touring the vineyards.

Cute little vineyard with a private garden setting in the shade. For tastings, it is $2 per wine or $10 for the full range per person. There was also delicious lemonade for $2 a glass which was delightful and refreshing. The platter ($48) for two was plentiful and delicious with a wide range of expensive local produce, eg. salmon, cured meats, cheeses, pickled walnuts - not your everyday pickles and crackers. Service was attentive but unintrusive. Had a very pleasant afternoon visit.

Great little museum with plenty of interesting stuff but not enough to be overwhelming, as in some museums. It's was great to meet Mate & hear his history of the area. Thanks to the volunteers - a great job!

I enjoyed my visit to the small museum located on the square, very nice experience and well done to the committee and team of volunteers, I noted the early 1900s phone directory showed an early resident and relative of my wife, some very interesting historic items and photos.

Martinborough Museum is right on the Square, well worth visiting, I have been many times.. I think only open on Saturday these days. Due another visit!

Accessible short walk with a good view point and bench. However the path could be signposted better. We also encountered bulls in a paddock on the marked return track and had to take evasive action over a barbed wire fence when they ran at us. This resulted in multiple injuries and required a tetanus shot at after hours. This could have been avoided by having a different route back that doesnt encounter livestock - esp bulls which can be unpredictable.

Good walk, the sheep run from you and the cows come up to investigate you. Didn't see any bulls 😕. If you bring your dog make sure its vaccinated for sheep measles as the signs say. Not great for prams

What a generous gift to the public to allow people to walk across this gorgeous farm. Beautiful views from the top and stock in cracking condition - what a wonderful showcase for farming in NZ and what a wonderful introduction to Martinborough. Go early if it's a hot day!

Many cattle including a few bulls were at the gate. We decided not to risk it..looks like it would have been lovely.

Effectively closed to dogs at the moment due to a sheep measles issue. Wasted our time going there.

Too basic for us. The beds are good, no ventilation in the bathroom and the windows opens all the way or not at all. Only 1 curtain to cover the main window but not the 3 the put in the roof. So in summer you'd better be an early bird as the sun shines in at 5. The 'continental breakfast' consists out of 4 slices of supermarket bread with jams, 2 tiny packages of weetabix and milk. We bought are own... Pretty nice view and Martinborough is a lovely town, however there are better accommodations.

Comfortable and clean accommodation in a lovely vineyard location. Many of the other wineries within walking distance or all within an easy bike ride. We stayed in one of the Gatehouse rooms and a complementary wine tasting was included in the adjacent cellar door. Kate was very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was provided in your room consisting of cereals milk and fruit and bread for toast with preserves. There was also a very good cafe for lunches. The town is a short drive away, walkable in 20 minutes for other food and drink options. The only minor issue is that the Gatehouse rooms are back to back and you can hear your fellow guests every move! Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I stayed here for a night for his birthday. The staff at reception was friendly and welcome and explained the amenities well. She had advised there was also a free wine or gin tasting at Margrain Vineyard, which my husband I had done and it was lovely. The room itself was beautiful and the view was amazing. The package I chose included complimentary wine (you could choose pinot noir, rosé or pinot gris) and a grazing platter. Highly recommend choosing this package, as the platter was a great snack before dinner and later in the night. Overall it was an amazing experience and I hope to come back for another visit soon.

Our second time to Margrain. The room was very spacious and clean. Just could do with a bit of an upgrade re furnishings. Unsure if they’ve recently put their prices up because didn’t reflect good value like it did last time. Lovely that they accommodated our dietary requirements. Gorgeous wine.

Great stay with seamless communication and convenient, comfortable parking. The only drawback was the hot water running out after 10–12 minutes—possibly due to local supply or hot water tank capacity. Book room and wine tasting combo deal for superb wine tasting experience.

Microwave would be useful and perhaps a larger television. Apart from that great location and quirky place.

Myself & wife frequently visit Vynfields whenever we are in the Wairarpa. Love the outdoor area for a lovely glass or 2. Have always had a great experience there with friendly & excellent hosts. Would highly recommend.

Great isite which has the bonus of an adjoining cafe and public library with free wifi and option of indoor and outdoor seating with children's playground immediately outside. Banking hub also located inside, as well as the nicest public toilets on the square. All conventionally located just a few steps away from the town's central bus stop which links Martinborough township with the Featherston train station and up through the valley as far as Wairarapa Hospital in Masterton via Metlink's 200 service, operated by Tranzurban in Wairarapa.

Martinborough is a beautiful place. Very established trees and gorgeous vineyards. Nearby Greytown brings an additional attraction with the museum and main street deli.

Martinborough is a perfect gateway from busy Wellington city life. If you love wine then you are at the right place. If you aren’t there’s plenty of things that you can do as well. Visit museum, go for a cycling or a tour in vineyard there’s no harm in visiting vineyard if you don’t drink or don’t prefer wine. isite building has a library and a nice cafe so you can spend an hour or two reading books, making plans over a cup of coffee. The drive from Wellington to Martinborough goes via Featherstone which is the first city that you come across in Wairarapa region. It’s a perfect serpentine drive once you cross Upper Hutt valley via Rimutaka range.

Wow Nice building and the children can play in the wonderful play ground there too.

Exactly what we were looking for, something interesting! The Naturalist 2023 vintage was outstanding, I drank a whole glass of Sav for the first time in probably 20 years it was that different. The platter was perfect local ingredients left to stand out on their own and the hospitality was authentic with no snobbery. Treated like old mates. Can't wait to drink my takeaways.

Absolutely perfect experience. Personal service with the winemaker himself doing our tasting. Wines were outstanding, vibes were outstanding, even their own personal Italian chef. Couldn’t recommend more. A must go if you are in martinborough!

For me one of the best organic wine producers in this country. Lance has a great philosophy and it shows in his wines. Id say this is one of the vineyards you must visit not only in Martinborough but in New Zealand.

Fun, interesting wines and a good price to taste heaps, we enjoyed listening to Lance (who I'm fairly sure is an earth witch) sharing his craft from comfy sofas by the fire. 10/10 would go again

One of the better vineyards we visited on our self guided tour. Beautiful location, nice casual setting with friendly welcoming staff who were happy to explain the different wines. Affordable tastings and platter! Would definitely recommend.

This was the first time I did the wine tasting and the experience was great. This a small family run winery and the couple does an amazing job. For 10$ you get a chance of trying 5 different wines and they were awesome. Unfortunately you aren’t allowed to see the farm due to H&S issues. Recommend this place

Muirlea Rise was the final stop on our wine tasting tour, and it couldn't have been a better way to end our trip! Excellent service, and all of the wine we tried was fantastic as well. Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area.

Saw the strong reviews and was not disappointed. Shawn and Hils are very charming hosts, and the wine is at a level to match. Definitely worth a visit if you prefer a more personal and wine-focused touch (i.e., it's not a giant commercial kitchen and wedding venue). The apres are worth a visit in themselves, and the warmth and manākitanga are on display from the moment you cycle, slightly tipsy, up the rise.

Definitely give this place a try if you’re on the tasting trail & you’re into your reds, had a few quite different options & some really nice ones, good mix

Exceptional Rosé in beautiful surroundings. This is a small boutique vineyard where the very knowledgeable owner himself runs the wine tasting and does most of the work on the vines himself.

Best Pinot Gris in the Martinborough area that we sampled (and bought a case!), nice and dry.

Did not come during lavender season which is usually around December-January but was lucky enough to catch some still blooming. Beautiful panoramic views of surrounding vineyards. Tracy was kind enough to show us around and share her knowledge. Our hands felt so soft from the lavender oils. Thank you!

We went for star gazing at the lavender farm, and we really enjoyed the experience! I recommend bringing warm clothes, as it gets cold at night. We bought some nice lavender liquor at the shop as well, which we love and enjoyed picking up the lavender. Everything was perfect! Including amazing music from Dave! The only note, I would have preferred that they wouldn't allow people to use drones, as the noise ruins the atmosphere. Although, it wasn't on for too long to be honest.

I honestly loved my experience at the lavendar farms. It has been some time when I last visited. Lavendar has lots of benefits so.it was good to pick some lavendar. I feel like products sold by the place are abit expensive. It has beautiful views and farms are great to click some photos for the gram. I have made my own headgear. Parking was easy to find.
