Fine dining restaurant
Hardy's Verandah Restaurant is a top-notch fine dining experience located within the historic Mount Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills. The restaurant offers sweeping views of Piccadilly Valley, providing a picturesque backdrop for an unforgettable meal. The seasonally changing 4 to 7 course degustation menu showcases the Valley to Verandah concept, featuring options for pescatarians and vegetarians.
I’m not even kidding but the service here is absolutely unreal. 👏🏼👏🏼 The three gentleman that worked the high tea (12pm-2pm) on the Verandah today, service was impeccable. Lovely men! The food is stunning and delicious. We need more of those coronation chicken sandwiches and buttermilk sconces. ⭐️ The venue itself is gorgeous too but we all know that from the photos. So worth the money. Many thanks to the team. You made our day out so much relaxed when our with our little one. 🤍🩵⭐️

No signage on main entrance which made it difficult to find. Just having a sign with each of the establishments within would be super helpful to new patrons. Walk up the stairs, the door will be closed but its unlocked so you just walk in and its at end of the hall on the right. We booked the high tea which was exceptional. They don't have a coffee menu but can make most standard orders. They didn't have hazelnut syrup available for cappuccinos though. The staff were friendly but I would have liked a bit more table service for drink refills etc. Cannot say a bad thing about the selection of food on the high tea. Everything was amazing. Probably the best high tea I've been to. They did not miss. The Scones were soft but not too crumbly, powdered but not messy and had a crisp glazing. Clotted cream was lightly seasoned too. Perfection really. The sandwiches were light refreshing and flavorful. Big fan of the bacon egg with wasabi mayo. I'm not the biggest enjoyer of seafood but the salmon Blini was also delicious. A flavor palette to suit and satiate anyone I feel. Monto rosso donut was interesting and tasty. I dislike celery but it meshed really well with the flavor. All the sweets were wonderful. The Madeline and frosting was delicious cakey and light. The Cherry bakewell tart had marinated Cherries and the flavor was definitely alcoholic strong but was really complimented by the pastry and creaminess. Mini pav was light and soft. Choux pastry was the perfect texture. We only had 2 other tables aside from us so you get a lot of privacy and an absolutely stunning view. I love the elegant cottage feel to the decor and the chairs were very comfortable. Will definitely be back again. Keen to try some of the lunch/dinner options.

We had the seven-course dining experience at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant and it was truly exceptional. We had requested halal meals in advance, and everything was prepared and served accordingly, which we really appreciated. The staff were incredibly polite and attentive , each dish was beautifully presented, and the waiters took the time to explain every course in detail. The atmosphere was elegant, and the overall experience was both luxurious and memorable.

My wife and I attended on the final day of our honeymoon and this was a solid 9.5/10 experience. Whilst on the pricier side, the view, service and food made it all worth it. We spoke with 5 different persons between server, sommelier and managers, all of which were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. It is not often restaurants of this caliber are able to offer a degustation that can cater to two separate dietaries for the same table and the Bluefin Tuna Chutoro was one of the best bites of food I think i've ever experienced. To cap it all off, we got to see a small glimpse of the Aurora atop the clouds. Highly recommend to anyone with a love for food & wine for a special occasion.

This restaurant is overrated. The food itself tastes ok, but for the price you’re paying, you’d expect more like some kind of “wow” factor — which just isn’t there. Everything felt very average. What really stood out, though, was how surprisingly small the portions were. For example, the beef dish only had about two bites’ worth of meat. I even added two side dishes. I bet even you go through all seven courses you still hungry. Each course was basically just few bites. Another point that really affected the dining experience was the service. While we were still talking to one server about the dishes, another interrupted us ask if he can clear our plates? It came across as unprofessional and lacking basic courtesy. But what made the experience truly unpleasant was the constant presence of body odor throughout the entire meal. It wasn’t just a moment — it lingered from the beginning to the end of the meal, which made it hard to enjoy the food. I’m not trying to be offensive or discriminatory. This is simply an honest observation. Some individuals naturally carry a stronger scent, but in a restaurant setting, especially at this price point, it’s something management should really pay attention to when staffing the front of house. Not worth a second visit.

We had a wonderful high tea experience here on Boxing Day. On arrival we were greeted warmly by staff and seated at a table with an amazing view. The furniture and artwork also makes this experience feel special. Upon serving high tea, the staff explained the food tier by tier which helped us to get an idea of what we were going to eat. The unlimited tea and coffee offer just made the experience even more pleasant. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the food during our time spent here. Definitely recommend this restaurant for wonderful high tea experience.

Never in my life have I been more impressed by a high tea. I like high tea. I've had a lot of them. But Hardy's Verandah takes the prize. We arrived a bit early and went for a walk around the house. The views of the Adelaide Hills were pretty remarkable. When we eventually went inside, we were completely taken aback. The interiors were beautiful. Thoughtful, warm and elegant. Even the toilets were luxurious. When our host showed us to our table, the view was so good I nearly fell over. It was a real "wow" moment. When the food arrived, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a token effort. The standard was high, everything was well executed, the flavours were interesting, and there was a lot more food than it looked like at first. We’d gone in expecting a light lunch. It wasn’t, and that was a pleasant surprise. Standouts included the coronation chicken sandwich, a cheese doughnut with a surprisingly good flavour combination, and scones that were the best I’ve ever had. No fuss. Just excellent baking. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff brought out a complimentary brownie with a message. A small gesture, but thoughtful and well-timed. The service throughout was attentive without being over the top. The whole experience felt considered and well put together. If you're heading to the Adelaide Hills, go to Hardy’s. Their high tea is worth it. Thanks for a very memorable day. ♥

My fiancé and I booked in for a cute little high tea to celebrate our engagement. It was our first time visiting Hardy’s and I can say we were very impressed. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and very welcoming. The venue is absolutely stunning and it was a perfect day to go for a stroll through the gardens. 10/10 guys we will certainly be back to try the dinner menu 👌🏼

Mount Lofty House Estate Adelaide Hills is an upscale hotel housed in a historic 1852 stone mansion. The estate features a refined restaurant, outdoor pool, and spa. Visitors can explore the nearby Mount Lofty Botanic Garden with its extensive collection of trees and wildlife at Cleland Wildlife Park. The area also offers opportunities for scenic drives through market gardens and vineyards, as well as access to the picturesque Mount Lofty Golf Course.
We attended a wedding at Mount Lofty House and had a wonderful experience. The setting was stunning, the food was fantastic, and the homemade cookies were a real highlight! The rooms were beautifully presented and very comfortable — though a little on the expensive side. Overall, a lovely place for a special occasion!

We had a lovely experience at Mount Lofty House. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with lots of history and beautiful views. The food is great, the service was amazing and they were really good at all the smaller details. The location is also great to see lots of things around the Adelaide Hills. This was a really cosy experience in Winter in the Adelaide Hills.

Nothing but good things to say about our first time staying at this lovely resort. Celebrating my engagement with my fiancee today - the service throughout was exceptional. Special thanks to Pietro at Hardy's Verandah. He made our night extra special and is the reason we will want to revisit one day. Another mention for Lisa with her joyful welcome at reception and informative history tour. She did a great job. All the staff were fantastic and the attention to detail was second to none. Thanks to everyone for the service that we received. Kate & Harry - Room 27.

What an incredible experience at Mount Lofty House! This stunning property is steeped in history, providing a perfect backdrop for our 28th wedding anniversary celebration. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the elegance and charm of the grounds, which are beautifully maintained and exude a sense of tranquility. Our stay in the Piccadilly Valley View Room was nothing short of exceptional. The room was comfortable and well-appointed, offering breathtaking views that made our experience even more special. We also had an amazing dining experience at Martha Hardy’s Restaurant & Hardy’s Verandah. A special shoutout to William, who assisted us with our booking and was incredibly helpful throughout our stay. His friendly demeanor and professionalism truly enhanced our experience. The overall service at Mount Lofty House was simply superb. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect.

An Exquisite and Unforgettable Stay at Mount Lofty House We recently spent four unforgettable nights at the spectacular Mount Lofty House in the stunning Adelaide Hills — and what an experience it was! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality, a delicious welcome drink, and fresh cookies, setting the tone for what would be an extraordinary stay. The accommodation itself was nothing short of exquisite — beautifully restored and tastefully decorated with attention to detail and impeccable cleanliness. The historical charm of the property, combined with modern luxury and thoughtful inclusions, made it a truly special retreat. Daily à la carte breakfasts were a delicious indulgence, and the complimentary yoga and meditation sessions added a calming touch to each morning. We thoroughly enjoyed the guided tour of the estate, complete with a seasonal signature drink and a gift copy of the Mount Lofty House and Estate History book — a lovely keepsake. The wine masterclass was another highlight, offering a curated and informative tasting experience in a relaxed and elegant setting. What truly made our stay exceptional, however, was the professional, accommodating, and genuinely welcoming staff. Their care and attention to detail elevated every part of our visit. Mount Lofty House is a rare gem, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you for making my first visit to South Australia so memorable and exquisite — I can’t wait to return!

2 people, they tried to charge us a $50 fee for “mains only”. We ordered 2 mains + paired glasses of red wine, 2 other glasses of white wine (with the entree). Ordered a side to share as an entree (not hungry), and shared a dessert. Honestly, the cost doesn’t bother me. Neither of us were hungry so didn’t want entree each, main each and dessert each. But hitting us with a $50 “main only” charge? Embarrassing and ridiculous. This charge is not on the menu and I refused to pay it. Enjoyed a lovely check in to mount lofty house and great hospitality up to that point. Suggest the hotel reviews this pricing strategy and advise it in advance.

The house is lovely, although shouldn’t be advertised as adults only. The place was packed with small children. Georgia was very knowledgeable during the house tour, and very warm and friendly. Cocktails menu could use a revamp.

Authentic Japanese restaurant
Restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, Yuki in the Hills has quickly become a beloved destination for Japanese cuisine since its opening in 2018. This charming 50-seater restaurant boasts traditional wood-clad interiors and features an open sushi preparation station where skilled chefs donning kimonos create culinary masterpieces.
Went for lunch 11th Jan. Very comfortable dining room. The staff were very friendly and polite. Spent $64 for 3 dishes for 2 people including 1 beer. Fair price in my opinion. Food made to order. Not much of a wait time. Maybe 15 people or more at lunchtime. My partner is originally from Japan and she was very impressed with all aspects. There is outdoor seating, but it was too hot to sit outside. Definitely going to be a return customer.

This review is based on my experience yesterday with my family. Couple year ago we celebrate my bday there and the food was good, but pricey. Yesterday we waited for almost 1 hours for the Wagyu Ramen and few other things. Absolutely tasteless ramen, literally 5 super thin slices of Wagyu with less than 50gm. Massive bowl, very little liquid, protein, veg and noodle. The size would only be enough for probably a 3-4 years old child. My son had the salmon with vegetables. The vegetables were extremely salty, super super salty that he could not eat. Later in that day 6 out of 9 of us got very sick with diarrhoea and the kids are still feeling unwell. Talking about price, it’s extremely abusive that make anyone feel like not eating… $7 for a can of coke is a joke. I work in the hospitality industry and in hotels like Sofitel, Hilton or Marriot a can of coke is like $5 for Room Service or restaurant. $7 is a real joke. The cost for those soft drinks are less than $1 a can. Photo attached for the horrible presentation and tasteless ramen. We will not come back.

Lovely lunch. Great food, pleasant atmosphere and attentive staff. Easily catered for dietary needs (vegan and gluten free) by offering to swap tempura for teriyaki tofu. Delicious!

It’s been a few months since I last dined here, and I must say — I was pleasantly surprised! The restaurant has undergone a complete transformation..new flooring, modern decor, and a welcoming atmosphere and service! I admit I was hesitant after reading some of the recent reviews, but my experience couldn’t have been more different. The staff was friendly and genuine. The pork ramen was rich and comforting, with a deep, flavourful broth. And the sushi rolls were fresh, beautifully presented. It really feels like this place has turned a corner. I heard there’s been a recent ownership change. You can tell there’s new energy, passion behind the food and service. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

I went to have dinner last Sunday night, used to be very good ramen, took a long time for my order to come out , the chicken smell not very nice so I put the chicken aside i didn’t eat the kitchen however I had the broth and the noodles instead .After we left the restaurant I experienced stomach pain and nausea all the way through to the next day . We been coming here since they 1st open in 2017 and food always been amazing but not last Sunday unfortunately. I hope they can improve they food quality in the future and service.

The lovely staff at Yuki in the Hills were able to accomodate my partner and I for a last minute booking despite being very busy with customers. They were friendly and attentive the whole time we were there and the food was faultless (we had the edamame, karaage fried chicken and ramen dishes). Atmosphere was nice and laid back. Will definitely return!

This place has had a complete makeover! The floor is spotless, and so are the dishes and cutlery. The staff are super professional and really attentive. I had the ramen and the Salmon Lover Roll, and both absolutely hit the spot! You can tell the new owners are working really hard to create a great dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back whenever I get the chance.

Restaurant
Nestled within the picturesque vineyards of Penfolds Magill Estate, the restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that celebrates seasonal ingredients paired with exquisite wines. Following an impressive 18-month renovation, this stylish venue now boasts a chic interior designed by Pascale Gomes-McNabb, featuring bespoke blackwood tables and stunning sculptural lighting that perfectly complements the lush views of the surrounding landscape.
A Masterclass in Modern Australian Fine Dining Dining at Penfolds Magill Estate Restaurant was, without exaggeration, one of the most extraordinary culinary experiences of my life. From the moment we arrived, every element was executed with precision, warmth, and understated elegance. This is a restaurant that doesn’t just serve food — it tells a story, celebrates the land, and elevates every bite into something unforgettable. The menu was a symphony of texture, flavour, and thoughtful presentation. Each course felt like a love letter to South Australian produce, artfully composed and expertly balanced. The Magill Estate Crumpet was a revelation — delicate, savoury, perfectly constructed — it captured the essence of the estate with every bite. The oyster with Pink Lady apple was an inspired opening snack: bright, clean, and utterly moreish. The school prawns with pumpkin, melon, and crystal caviar offered a sublime interplay of salt, sweetness, and crunch — easily one of the highlights of the meal. But it was the duck that stole the show — cooked to perfection, rich and succulent, it was a masterclass in flavour and restraint. Every wine pairing was considered and elevated the dish it accompanied, showcasing Penfolds’ heritage and finesse. The service was impeccable — professional yet personable, attentive without intrusion. And of course, dining against the backdrop of the Adelaide Hills with views over the vineyard added a poetic sense of place. A truly exceptional experience from start to finish. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

We had an amazing dinner at this beautiful vineyard restaurant. The view was stunning, the atmosphere relaxing, and the service was top-notch. Every dish was delicious and paired perfectly with the wine. A truly memorable evening — we’ll definitely be back!

Great view to the north of Adelaide metro with a classy setup. Food is good, some interesting idea and ingredients aiming for local produce. Wine pairing reasonably good as they should be from the one of the biggest producer in the country. The peak enjoyment over 3 hours was the 10 minutes with the glass of Grange - so called top 10 Shiraz in the world, under the view of the city. There is a financial cost associated with all these, which I will say expensive for the level of enjoyment and satisfaction. Still give 5 stars as I think >98% people should be more than happy with here.

My wife and I were in Adelaide for AFL Gather Round and wanted to kick off the footy long weekend with a fancy meal. Magill’s Estate did not disappoint! A lovely venue with friendly staff and a warm ambience, it was worth every dollar. The starter snacks were cheeky and delicious (the roe crumpet was to die for), the mains were full of well-balanced flavour (the tomato-based course was a personal favourite) and the desserts were yummy and playful. Strongly recommend.

Beautiful estate in the suburbs outside of Adelaide. The drive in is covered in Lavendar and smells great! Lachlan served the tasting and was friendly and informative! Understand Penfolds reputation now the wines are great including the Chinese Wine Trial. Would have loved to do the tours! Must be booked 24 hours in advance

This is one to tick off the bucket list. It's not cheap, but everything is just superb. Short uber from Adelaide makes it an enjoyable night to eat and drink from a fantastic menu and list of wines. Glad I did this, thanks to the wife for a lovely Christmas present.

Atelier Crafers is a creative hub in Adelaide Hills that offers a unique experience. It showcases the work of local artists and designers, making it an ideal place to explore art and inspiration. The venue features an art gallery, studio, and a cafe with vegetarian options. Additionally, visitors can enjoy nearby dining options such as wood oven pizza at Jimmies and luxury accommodation at The Crafers Hotel.
I really like this cafe. Beautiful fire in winter, great coffee, good selection including gluten free food and when finished you can browse their art gallery which has quality art/craft for sale. Its not too big, not noisy..great place to visit on a trip into the hills

As a family, we shared a light lunch at Atelier Cafe. The atmosphere was lovely. There were wonderful art displays and craft items for sale that created interest in our group. Service was fine, albeit a little slow, and the food was okay. Maybe a tad overpriced for what one gets, (see attached images). Parking was an issue. One needs to either park in the very small carpark at the rear of the cafe or in the tennis club carpark. Then one must walk around to the front of the cafe along the narrow road. Parking for the disabled is directly in front of the door. It is a bit tight getting into the right spot to unload walkers and the somewhat immobile guests. One then needs to back out onto the road and park at the rear.

This place is amazing! Beautiful interior and outdoor seating. They sell a huge amount of local art work and crafts. What a wonderful way to promote local artists! I spent ages looking around. There is a huge selection. The food cabinet offered vegan and gluten free options. Even the bathrooms in this establishment was beautiful and clean. It is on a hill but there is one disabled park at the front, and a car park up the hill around to the left. The coffee wasn’t and and they had soy milk. I will be back with friends and family. Thank you =)

Lovely and relaxing cafe and art space, I agree with others' reviews. They hold art classes and have live music on Sunday's throughout February 2023. Parking is, however, at a premium. There is one disabled park onsite. Their rear carpark is accessed via Cox Creek Rd, (unfortunately no access to the the cafe / gallery just yet), and some will find the walk to the front door slightly too steep. Limited parking on Cox Place. Parking aside, it is well worth the visit.

The perfect spot for coffee and cake, wine (organic if that's your thing) & cheese (vegan included!), or curry & cocktails (on a Friday night). And all whilst you are surrounded by electic mix of art works, craft, knitwear, jewellery, makeup and skin care. What makes the experience even better is the amazing owner and her staff!
