Small beautiful museum. Very informative about how salt was traditionally cultivated.
This is a brief but fun stop for anyone interested in the history of salt production in Portugal. You can also buy salt here and up the road at the nearby little town (where there is a shop with salt products).
Bring cash! Only a few € per person but must be paid in cash. Very nice, simple museum with working salt pools and even an area if you want to soak your feet in the salty water (bring a towel!). Good for bird watching too - don’t forget binoculars but you might be able to borrow some from the front desk to try to spot a flamingo. This museum is down a one way sand road with limited parking. Very informative and super friendly and helpful staff. Request to play video with English subtitles.
Live "museum" for traditional salt making going back to the 11th century. My family enjoyed walking around, watching the salt beds, the wild life and speaking with the locals.
Super nice people taking care of a very small but very interesting museum combined with enthusiasm offering on some Saturdays real practice on the fields which was an exceptional experience for us.
Its very inexpensive, very cool to walk around the salt flats were they still harvest the salt. The brown huts are the original ones used back in the day and still in use today. Stopped at one on the way in, super nice gentleman, had a nice chat and purchased salt flower from him for 2 euros a bag!!
I'm sure it's ok but we went twice and it was closed both times.
A small and fine gem of knowledge about local salt production. A great tour with the employee, who even lends a hand in the rather complex salt production process. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped on the way to Porto and it’s been the best part of our day! Sunset, cocktail and live dj in a forte. Great food. Fabulous service. Many snapchats were sent.
If you’re in the area and you don’t stop here, you’re making a big mistake. For an amazing burger and/or a drink on the terrace… it’s definitely THE SPOT. Try the white sangria, it’s amazing.
Forte de Santa Catarina Type: Forte / Restaurant Time spent: 10-15 min Parking: available Bike parking: not available WC: available Path for disabled: available
Magical place to have a refreshment. Cigarette machine available, delicious lemonada, great service, views, music and ambience. If you get the chance to go here you will be grateful. This place is like no other.
Best place for a sunset cocktail! Absolutely delicious and beautiful. You feel like your climbing to greatness on the way in with the narrow stone passage ways, and you are, pure greatness....the views, the dj, the tastiest drink!
Very nice burger and the view! Really enjoyed it there
Amazing Burger & Beer at the restaurant inside and on top of this Forte! Our assistant, because I really dislike the use waiter for him because he was so wonderful we mistook him for the owner, was knowledgeable, charismatic and attentive. He recommended thier beer on tap. We had the lighter beer that to me was very fresh and almost has a citrus flavor and it was great with our huge burgers and steak cut fries with seasonings. He wound up bringing us a sample of the dark beer. It was smooth and sweet. If you're have a dessert, this might be the beer for you. And I haven't even mentioned the views! We ate on the roof and enjoyed not only the view of the ocean, town, river and people but the breeze with the salty ocean air. There is a large screen tv downstairs to see the latest match with your family and closest friends. If you're in town or planning a trip into Figueira da Foz this place is a must. Enjoy and have fun!
So happy to find it here! We wished we were more hungry. Will have to go back again! Very interesting layout, rustic, excellent service, very good food from what we ate, great drinks, DJ playing .. Burgers looked delicious. Must remember to come back!!

Fantastic market. Lots of fresh fish and seafood. Huge selection of fruit and vegetables.
Very beautiful market! Amazing architecture! Amazing and Nice People! Fresh fruits, flowers, fresh fish, cheeses… you name it! Also, dozens of small shops, like cafes, souvenirs. Like a shopping mall, but for small and local businesses!
Just to visit. Bought teetowels for family. Lots of fresh fish flowers and fruit
Awesome, the amount of products. The herb and dried fruit stall is a cornucopia of delights
Fresh and beautiful! A must visit!
Excellent market hall , especially for fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, and spices.
Central, convenient and open daily (except Sunday) with many counters. There are some produces you cannot find in the supermarket both the variety and the freshness or the size, quality. There are a few old ladies who only sell what they grow in their garden and I love theirs, so fresh and so generous! The taste is totally different. Saturday is the busiest day also more stores open. Opposite the market to the front is the skipper bar and many other cafes which is quite pleasant to sit after a grocery trip. Super relaxed.
Big spacious farmers market. Prices a little on the higher side but a good variations of fruits, vegetables and seafood selection. There are also florist, bakeries and a few cafes for a good cup of coffee and pastries

Beautiful piece of architecture! It’s an hidden gem in the heart of one of the most popular beaches in Portugal. Cheap for a 45 min guided tour of the palace itself. And the gardens are free to visit! It’s absolutely amazing the level of detail, to see the different ways how culture has change, the level of wealth it’s required… Honestly amazing
A beautiful house, built a little over 100 years ago, amazing details in every room. Owned by the local casino, sometimes used as a set for parties, theatre, TV and movies. During the Winter season it is only open on Friday&Saturday, guided tours start on the hour, 5€ pp, in May they open every day. The grounds and garden are open and can be visited for free. A passionate guide will show you parts of the house and provide lots of background information.
Entrance to the palace is €5 for adults, and free for children (my daughter is 3.5). We were lucky — we arrived at 4:00 PM and got there just in time for the start of a guided tour. The tour was very interesting. The lady guiding us could speak both Portuguese and English, so tourists from other countries (who understand English) can easily join. I really enjoyed the interiors, the stained glass, and the paintings. An amazing house — and the grounds are beautiful too. Definitely worth a visit!
Amazing rich opulence of the early 1900's. A beautifully kept house museum with a lot of history. Must pre book guided tours only.
Fantastic place , worth to visit and our guide, Frederica was incredible, showed us everything! It is closed only on Mondays, other days open from 10 to 18.
It was fascinating! You can enter the house with an official tour guide (very nice) for 5€ per person. Would definitely recommend ☺️
An interesting place to learn about a wealthy family in Figueira around 1900. I loved the magnificent walls and ceilings. It's a wild mix of styles, renaissance, manueline, art nouveau and gothic. Very knowledgeable guide and friendly receptionist. Danke! I'd suggest to introduce a more transparent and easy booking system online, so that people know when there are portuguese and when there are english guided tours.
Impressive visit. The tour in English & Portuguese was awesome. Our guide was knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions.

Great spot. Nice little car parking spot with awesome view. 3 mins from the town - go down to Farggi Crepe Cafe for amazing crepes!
Amazing view, but a little dirty (people, what is wrong with you. Take your trash out) 😢 There is a parking spot right in front of the place.
Beautiful sunset view, there were a couple also camping behind us definitely a view worth catching
Cabo Mondego is located on the western side of the Serra da Boa Viagem, between the beaches of Murtinheira and Figueira da Foz. From this area, between the lighthouse and the descent to Buarcos, there are several points of observation of the city and its surroundings that are not to be missed. From there you can see the outline of the coast to Vieira de Leiria, with the crescent of Figueira da Foz bay
Lindíssimo... Breath taking landscape.
Great view of Buarcos and Figueira da Foz. Near ruins of original lighthouse and its replacement. Good spot for picnic and photo opps..
It’s a good spot to go if you’re in the area but wouldn’t recommend going out of the way to visit.
The view is beautiful. But it is spoiled by a huge amount of litter.

Great atmosphere, very fun to watch and an all round enjoyable visit. Just a shame the bulls can't write reviews, I'm sure there'd be a few less stars. I would also not recommend throwing personal items like phones from the upper balcony as it doesn't tend to end well. Didn't even get a picture.
Corrida still exists its a shame for Portugal Torture and violence
We watched a bullfight at the Coliseu Figueirense. While I am against cruelty to animals, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was amazing. The Coliseu was the perfect venue for the occasion, being brightly lit and very tidy.
We were given amazing tour about the place and the culutre of bull fighting in Portugal. Highly recomended! Tour stars atb15:30. Price 2 EUR.
very interesting place but unfortunately animals, bulls and horses are still dying there.

Shopping
Slide 1 of 8
Great place for just about every thing! Loads of eating places, loads of shops and a huge supermarket that sells just about everything you could possibly want! Covered carpark underneath and esculators to every level. Beautifully clean, with nice toilet facilities on the food hall level!
A relatively small mall but has a good variety of shops that suffices the purpose and also a good variety in the number and types of restaurants.
When will you drop the silly rule that dogs are not allowed inside a shopping center. Food shops are OK, but bying a cell phone or eating a meal should not be an issue. That is the silliest rule in the whole of Portugal.
Good to find a few shops in the same place. NOS and Meo stores and Auchan. Food is overpriced.
Decent medium size shopping mall would like to see more electric charging stations specially fast charging I found only x2 on - 1 floor after driving around in the parking for 25 min
Single level shopping center with an Auchan Hypermarket as the anchor store. Barber shop, beauty salon, etc. this place has it all.
My recent visit Foz Plaza shopping center left me with mixed feelings. While it has several appealing features, there are notable areas where it falls short of expectations. One of the most significant drawbacks I encountered was the limited availability of clothing shops, especially for formal attire like shirts and suits. This deficiency was particularly disappointing, as a shopping center should ideally offer a wide range of options for shoppers looking to update their wardrobes. On a positive note, the shopping center does have some redeeming qualities. The presence of stores for phones, a barber, a groceries shop, and an array of restaurants and a cinema contribute to its diversity. These offerings provide a variety of options for different needs, from technology and grooming to dining and entertainment. However, the overall shopping experience is marred by the lack of essential clothing stores. Given this deficiency, I would rate the shopping center as a 3 out of 5 stars. While it has some attractive features, the absence of key retail categories, such as formal clothing, hinders its potential as a comprehensive shopping destination. I hope the management considers expanding their offerings in this regard to enhance the shopping center's appeal to a broader audience.
Decent shopping centre, enough choice for a quick bite down at the food court. The cinema was nice and decently priced.

Love going to this local museum in our hometown with my family. Our favourite part was the army guns and swords. It is small but it has many displays in the different rooms. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
cozy small local museum with nice staff. it contains 7 rooms, well organized, themed. exhibition is a bit boring, cause you might have seen a lot of similar things before. the price is only 2 EUR, which is almost free.
Nice museum. Friendly English speaking staff who seem to be proud of the exhibits. €2 entry fee reduced to €1 if you’re over 65. Well worth a quick visit if nearby.
A true gem for history lovers! Museu Municipal Santos Rocha impresses with its engaging exhibits and well-curated collection that beautifully showcases the region's heritage. Highly recommended!
Nice museum, right in the city centre. The entry was just two euros and the temporal excibition was really great. The only little detail I'd find is that they don't take cards.
Awesome place to visit. Almost everything in the museum is having bilingual tags - in Portuguese and English. I was surprised the entrance was so affordable. It's a must-viait place, so whenever you are in Figueira da Foz, don't miss it. I was really excited to see items and stuff which was thousands years old (literary). This place has lots to offer, so what can I say - definitely recommend it! I just fell.i love with this one...
A great selection of local archaeological items plus Indo-Portuguese furniture, armaments from the Peninsular War and WWI, and modern art by local painters.

Nice for fishing although the fishes didn't go with me. 😀
(Translated by Google) It is one more leisure option to take into consideration. The catches are mainly sea bass and bream but just paying is not enough to guarantee success. We have rented the equipment at the facilities and have included the bait: natural (Korean, miñoca) or putty. The pack also includes feed for fattening and the net to keep the catches alive. At the end of the three hours we have caught two sea bass and a bream and another small fish that we have not been able to identify. The service has been very good and they have guided us from the beginning, answering all our questions. In these times of pandemic, the picnic area where you can use the grill and dishes is disabled. We choose to leave the fish at the disposal of the fish tank. I recommend this place to go with people who want to get started or just spend time fishing, with a higher probability of success than fishing in the open sea.

Amazing place !!!
Praia da Leirosa offers a peaceful escape: a sweeping stretch of fine sand with easy access, parking, cafés, and surf-friendly waves. Nestled in a charming fishing village, it’s ideal for quiet mornings or watching traditional Xávega fishing. Just be aware of a faint industrial scent nearby.
Good 👍 Staffs are also nice 🙋🏽🇮🇹🍝🏞️🧑‍🍳🎨🍔🍟🥤
Quiet and simple. Big resident area probably due to hosting a huge factory. Not much commerce and sightseeing. Not a 5 star due to lack of cleanliness
Wide beach of fine sand in front of a small village. If you like wild beaches. This is for you. In the afternoon you can see the fishermen arranging their wooden boat and nets
Great beach. Good sand for walking on. Good parking and there are a few cafes open even in the winter months.
Nice beach. Very calm in the morning.
