Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food! It was all too notch for sure! If you go you have to try a shot of Black Death, and I highly recommend the Icelandic Meat Stew! Fish and chips and apple pie with coffee for dessert and we were very full. Great team of people there and there was plenty to look at to keep the eyes busy.
The staff and food are absolutely wonderful, and the atmosphere and live music is fantastic. We enjoyed our visit so much last year that we just had to come back. The staff are extremely polite and attentive, and the food was exceptional. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting, and we will certainly return again. We're barely halfway through our 9-day holiday, and we've been here every single day, and plan to be here every day until we leave (we don't want to leave!). Unfortunately, we cannot add photos of all the food we had because it was eaten as quickly as it arrived. We never had to wait long for food at all. Thank you to everyone working here; you are amazing.
The restaurant is designed to reflect Viking culture, it was amazing to see cultural objects around. The meal was perfect 😋
A truly unique place worth visiting! The interior is original and immediately takes you into the atmosphere of an Icelandic saga or Viking feast. With the dish of the day, we were offered a complimentary soup — simple, yet with an interesting, slightly smoky flavor. Definitely worth trying! The main course — fish with delicious potato pancakes and vegetables — was great. Simple, but perfectly done. I got the impression that hospitality is part of this place’s identity. When you order tea, you receive a whole thermos of hot water for refills, milk, and even an extra teabag. There’s also a special corner with a Viking throne, helmets, and accessories where guests are encouraged by the staff to take photos and have fun — a really nice touch! Overall, Fjörukráin combines great food, warmth, and a unique atmosphere that makes you feel truly welcome.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere like being swept into a viking feasting hall, the servers are lovely and the food is amazing had the fish of the day and it was the freshest and most delicious fish I have ever had. Our Server Sylvia was brilliant and so polite. She made us feel so welcome
Absolute BANGER! I ate the most delicious bbq ribs ever. I was so happy that I got full stomach of this absolute chopper meat. Also ate some slices of my friends pizza and they were as banger as my meat banger bbq ribs were. The restaurant was cozy viking themed banger with nice staff and so on. Absolutely recommend if you around the corner!!!!
The food and atmosphere are really nice. We actually dined twice. The first evening there was live music. The staff is very friendly. One dish to mention was the cauliflower. It was fried perfectly and was so delicious. Its a large wedge of cauliflower not broken pieces like in the states. Pizza was also delish!
The restaurant impresses with its cleanliness and tasteful décor, which creates a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere. Particularly noteworthy is its family-friendly orientation, which makes it an ideal place for meals with children. The quality of the food is outstanding—fresh ingredients and careful preparation ensure an excellent taste experience. The portions are generous and offer excellent value for money. In addition, as is customary in Iceland, water is served free of charge, which makes the visit even more enjoyable. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the service is professional and efficient. Overall, the restaurant offers an all-round positive experience and is highly recommended for anyone who values quality and hospitality.

Park
Nature & Parks
Small park with moss-covered lava rocks & ponds, said to be the home of elves & dwarves.

My kids loved climbing on everything and we spent over an hour just walking around and looking for elves. Lots of hidden paths and climbing for my older one. My little one found berries from the trees on the ground and was picking them up and leaving trails for the elves to follow her. So fun.
Two incredible huge friendly cuddly furry cats who kept following me and my mom around and begging to be pet. The park is genuinely lovely too and the story of it being founded by a debate club really cute too
Great little park with lots of Christmas lights and decorations
Well keep public park, I wish to see elf, but I feel them
Beautiful garden, however didn’t see elf houses. But check the surrounding neighborhoods I found one in someone’s backyard. Super cute!
Very close to Viking village. Asked a local if it would be safe at night and they said absolutely. And I didn’t feel uncomfortable or unsafe at any point. They even told us this is where the elves live and you can find them in the rocks. How cute! Didn’t find any elves but found a cat as they rubbed up against me. Is that normal? It was so cold and rainy.
One of my favorite spot in capital region, and every single visit of Hafnarfjörður love to have small walk at this lovely park. Especially you should give a visit during Christmas time while the whole park decorated with lights. There is also a cute coffeeshop with small elf houses to sit and enjoy the vibe.
Great, little park! I saw 2 kitties there and if you have time, be sure to stop by the cafe for some delicious food. I recommend the waffles!

A lot to see about the history of the town. Texts were also in English and were very interesting. The museum is in 3 floors and every floor surprised positively. At the time of visit the admission was free of charge. Totally recommend the museum!
Lots of history, cool stuff, nearly everything has at least an overview in English, also a children’s toy exhibit on the top floor. Currently a scouting exhibit that’s interesting.
Marvellous museum with lots of original items in a walk around format. English descriptions are plentiful. I wish I had more time to explore. The theme is the development of Iceland's fishing industry and lifestyle in the 19th & 20th century.
Can highly recommend it. Its a small Museum but very well layed out and set up. Definitely a secret gem and its free.
Great for a little village museum, and free!
Interesting FREE museum showcasing the history of Hafnafjordur. The displays were enough to keep my son’s attention, as were the retro arcade games on the top floor.
We stayed in Hafnarfjordur during our week in Iceland and stopped in here before we caught our flight home. It was getting the history of the town
Brilliant and FREE!!!
