Busy, expansive sand beach with shallow water, a rocky section for snorkeling & basic showers.

Nice beach with very shallow water – great for kids to splash and play, but might not be ideal for adults who prefer deeper swimming. It was quite windy during our visit, with some waves. Keep in mind there’s no natural shade, so definitely bring an umbrella or some sun protection.
Very nice and wide beach. But quite narrow and very crowded. It is difficult to park nearby if you’re too late and also there’s a number of sharp stones under the water in some places.
Huge beach, plenty of sunbeds (€25 for the pair) & also space up against the dunes for those doing their own thing. Very shallow beach indeed, making it ideal for children but a pain for anyone wanting to swim as it's a trek out and there are rocks hidden within the sand. Couple of bar restaurants with a single toilet - only other toilet facilities are smelly portaloos. Huge car park, mostly full at 10.30am on a Sunday in Sept. Car parking also up in the village centre by shops etc, again mostly full.
Nice beach with clear water and white sand. However quite windy! Difficult to have picnic with the wind. You can have foot for quite a long distance in the water so it is nice for children. A lot of waves due to the wind. Easily accessible from the bus station, few ministers walk.
True gem. Long sandy beach so you can find a quiet private spot to land. Clear, warm and turquoise water. Free parking in the vicinity of a large white hotel,Accessed from the parking via a boardwalk lifeguards present. Sun loungers too but if you want more privacy keep walking alongside keeping the sea to your left. Bring a beach umbrella as it can get very hot.
This is one of the best places I have visited as the beach had water you can clearly see through. They was small fishies minding their own business and it was cute to watch them swimming around. Tried out best to not disturb them while in the water. There wasn’t a lot of water sports options available and this can be a good and bad thing. There was sun loungers you had to pay for to use and they are a god investment if needed. Everyone was very friendly and there was lifeguards on view and they was also friendly
Lovely sandy beach with free parking, fairly short walk from the car park to the beach and plenty of sand to walk along. There is a little restaurant that serves drinks and ice creams that you can take away. The sunbeds can be purchased for €10 for all day, which was a little on the expensive side, but if you're a tanner or having nothing else planned I guess it's alright. If you keep walking down the beach away from the cliff side, then you will come to where most of the nudist people tend to settle.
Platja de Son Bou has it all! There is a busy area near the hotels with sun loungers and restaurants behind the beach. You can also hire a boat or enjoy other water sports. The sea is clear and shallow and children absolutely love it. Short walk towards Santo Tomas and crowds thin out. The area near lifeguard Tower 4 is where the clothing optional beach starts and there is some rocky area in the water, good for snorkeling. Carry on walking to the West and you can have like 50m meters of the beach all to yourself. There are recycling bins at the exits, and some showers to wash that sand off your skin. The car park is free! The atmosphere on the beach is great and people are friendly to each other.

Nice beach, fairly quiet in the morning but it gets busy after lunch. There are loads of free parking near, not only the parking by the beach but also some more places like 10min walk away. Kayak is available at the beach, but the sea was rather wavy when we went. There are also a few restaurants and shops, as well as toilets. It's a nice beach to visit if you are around this area.
A great little holiday spot, beautiful beaches, plenty of restaurants offering quality meals at reasonable prices. It's only a 6km drive from the airport.
Cala en Porter is a charming, small beach nestled between towering cliffs on Menorca’s south coast. Its soft white sand and tranquil, shallow waters make it perfect for families and those seeking a relaxing day by the sea. The beach is well-equipped with amenities, including sunbeds, umbrellas, and nearby restaurants, ensuring a comfortable visit. A standout feature of Cala en Porter is the abundance of kayak rental services available. These rentals offer an excellent opportunity to explore the surrounding coastline, especially the nearby caves. Paddling through these natural formations provides a unique perspective of the area's geological wonders and is a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. For those looking to combine beach relaxation with adventure, Cala en Porter offers the perfect balance. Its serene environment, coupled with the thrill of kayaking to explore hidden caves, makes it a must-visit destination on Menorca.
Visited for a few hours during our holiday on Menorca. The beach is pretty, but in quite a narrow bay so there's not much space and it gets busy. The resort itself is up quite a steep hill from the beach and requires walking up a lot of steps which I'm glad we only had to do once. We stayed in Es Castell near the capital Mahon and found it a really good base.
Amazing beach but dirty sea especially when sailing ships around, a pity nature suffers from humans'print. The same happens with the beach in Punta Prima. The new tourist tax doesn't serve for clean waters nor for showers on the beach but sunbeds are with charge. Not far, Greek islands have clean waters and showers on the beach !
One of my favorite beaches in Menorca !!! Strongly recommend for families and small children !
Good for families beacuase easy to park, to access and shops nearby, but if you want to explore the real beauty of the island, I would not recommand. This was our least favourite beach and we nearly saw them all.
Cala en Porter playa is a beautiful unspoilt Bay with some very impressive cliffs surrounding it. The Rustic Bar Cala is a great place for a coffee, beer, and a snack, all very reasonably priced.

Such an amazing experience and awesome instructors! Thank you for such an incredible dive Muriel and Joop! We will be back as soon as we can! The comparison from our past experience to this one is significantly different and if I may say a lot better. I would 10/10 recommended this place to everybody 🙏🏻❤️🤿🐠🪼
This was our second time diving with Muriel and Joop and we couldn't wait to be back! We did two amazing dives and I would definitely recommend booking with Son Bou Scuba if you are thinking about trying scuba as a first timer or as an experienced diver. Muriel and Joop know the best places around the island to dive and will take excellent care of you! We will be back again soon 🙏🏻❤️
Had a fantastic time with Son Bou Scuba. Muriel and co were so professional and fun. My daughter and I did two discovery dives and we felt so safe and happy. An absolutely amazing experience. I would highly recommend
Muriel took our family of four on the try-dive experience, what a wonderful day! Superbly organised, great emphasis on fun but always felt safe and relaxed. Lovely team, beautiful waters and great excursion all round, thank you
I did my PADI Open Water course with Son Bou Scuba and later some certified dives together with my girlfriend Cristina. It was a fantastic experience! Robin (the Amazing), Muriel and Joop are super professional, kind and fun, making us feel safe and welcome all the time. We both highly recommend this dive center! 🌊🤿 Alberto & Cristina
Muriel and her husband are excellent instructors with a lot of experience in diving all over the world. Great mood and they make the environment very good and relaxed which is good once we were nervous because it was our first time diving and Muriel made everything go smoothly and fun! We recommend 100%!!
As an experienced diver with around 1,500 dives and certifications in sidemount and full cave diving, I was looking for a relaxed yet professional diving experience – and Joop and Muriel exceeded all my expectations. Joop’s extensive experience and professionalism were particularly impressive. The dive sites were not only stunning and varied, but I also had the chance to talk shop with Joop about sidemount and monkey diving, which was a real highlight. I learnt a lot and had a great time doing so. The dive centre is excellent: well-equipped, clean and very well organised. The atmosphere is welcoming and motivating, making every dive even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll be in excellent hands here. I’ll definitely be coming back!
An excellent experience. Family of four with two teenagers (13 and 15) and we did the ‘try scuba’ opting for two dives. Muriel was an excellent teacher. They also accommodated us having to change the date when flights went wrong. Excellent photos too. Thanks again all at Som Bou Scuba.

Tapas bar
Cocktail bar
Slide 1 of 8
We lunched here on Good Friday and liked it so much we went back the next day. The owner himself rolled out a bar cart on the terrace, snipped mint from his garden and made fresh mojitos right in front of us. The menu has something for everyone and the portions were generous. Expect to spend about €25–30 per person for two courses plus a cocktail.
Lovely place, friendly staff, well run bar/restaurant. We arrived and ordered drinks which were prepared for us at the table, which was quite a novelty. The drinks sizes were massive, which made them extremely good value for money. I really enjoyed the amaretto sour. It was about 3 times the size as back home and only cost around €9. The food was also good value for money. The kids have a cheap menu and there is a selection of adult sized dishes available. For a good value for money, child friendly, bar food evening meal it was worth the visit. This was the kids' favourite place as the waitress asked if they wanted the bouncy castle switched on when we arrived (of course they did). They had great fun playing with the selection of garden style toys while we sipped our amaretto. Nice visit. Thanks!
Excellent & warm welcome from the host and from all the team. Friendly from start to finish. Sangria was hand made / poured at the table and the food was delicious, the Poke bowl was a huge hit! We were recommended to try here and highly recommend others to do the same while in Son Bou
The food is well served. The cocktails are made in front of us. The owner is very friendly, knows how to welcome you and we only didn't go there again due to lack of opportunity.
Just went for cocktails but it was an experience! The owner made them in front of us on a trolley! Great cocktails and great experience!
Went here due to the amazing reviews but not quite sure what the hype is about - unless we caught them on a bad day! It took a really long time to order drinks, then a long time for the drinks to come. By the time the food came, we'd finished the drinks and had to ask for some more, but as I was drinking a cocktail I didnt bother seeing as it had taken so long for the gentleman with the drinks trolley to come over and make it in front of me. (A nice gimmick but not worth the wait!) The food was okay, we heard the tapas was the way to go, but it wasn't really that different to all the other surrounding restaurants' offering. Also it was quite expensive, and we left feeling hungry and disappointed.
I've been here for three consecutive years with my family and this time had spent 600 to 700 euros in a thew visits and had not been waited on I've had to go and get my drinks and find my own condiments I feel this is because the manager put his hands on my boy and I had to tell him about it which he clearly didn't like which has left me to almost serve myself. Forget this place
We went for dinner and drinks tonight and it didnt disappoint. Seafood platter was amazing and cocktails were made at our table, that made it extra special. Thank you and see you again soon

Probably the best gastronomic experience you can have not only in Menorca but in the Balearic Islands. Excellent facilities and a very nice tour. Our guide was incredible and available to answer every question. The cheese platter at the end alongside the different wines that we tried were amazing! Highly recommended and I would definitely return to this unforgettable place!
We visited the farm yesterday and had such a lovely experience. The place is beautiful and everything is super well organized. If you have more time, you can join excursions and enjoy long cheese tastings, but in our case, we just did a short self-guided visit. We walked around the farm, saw the cows and horses, and had a quick tasting of their cheese, local sausage, and cookies — all really delicious. It was only €12 for two people, which we found super fair for such a nice local snack experience. You can also buy drinks, wine separately if you’d like. After the tasting, we visited their shop and bought everything we loved. The girl working there was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the visit even better. They’re open long hours, and you don’t need a reservation unless you want a full tour or long tasting. A great, easy, and authentic stop to experience Menorcan farm life and local flavors.
Pretty nice farm that you can visit on your own (they give you some documentation) or with a tour guide. It's very kid friendly and even with a baby you can have a lot of fun approaching some animals, especially the calves! Then you can enjoy a good value for money mix platter of cheese and cold cut made by the farm, together with some local wine and a beautiful view 👌 The staff is welcoming and friendly too 😊
Such a fun experience! We did the self guided tour. They provided a printed informational pamphlet and we were also able to scan or codes and watch videos along the way as well. Afterwards we got one of the sample boards which was delicious!
We booked this tour with different expectations, but they were all exceded! We could pet more animals than expected, had more cheese than expected and saw more animals than expected! Very nice Spanish tour, well cared for animals and a generous amount of cheese and sausages to taste accompanied by a red wine. The horse show was an excellent addition to the whole tour. Would definitely recommend!
We had a guided tour of the farm followed by a wine and cheese tasting. The cheese was absolutely delicious, and we even took some home with us. The tours are only offered in Spanish, but it was still a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had a great time, and even our little children learned something about cheese making in Mallorca. Highly recommended – we will definitely come back next time!
Really great visit. I would have like to see a bit more of how the milk gets turned into the cheese and the farm could do with some signs pointing out where the visit starts as I and a few other people weren’t to sure where to go. Other than this the staff were really friendly and were very keen to answer any questions. The cows seemed very well looked after and happy which is always nice to see and it was really interesting to learn about the milking cycle. During the tour you get to feed a calf and some goats. At the end after seeing how the cheeses are cured, you get to try the cheese at different ages and get to try a few other things such as sobrassada, saucisson and their wine. I really enjoyed this visit and for the price you get a lot of food at the end. It’s a really good visit if you want to do something inland instead of a beach. I highly recommend this visit.
Fantastic tour led by Miki (in Spanish). Miki was an incredible guide, he thoroughly explained the cheese-making process, adding in plenty of Menorcan anecdotes, history, and humor. The cheese and wine tasting were the cherry on top.

If your in menorca I would highly recommend visiting this place. It's reasonably priced, Educational and great fun for kids. I would advise you to take a torch with you, for going inside of the caves or burial chambers. I used the torch on my phone but it wasn't really bright enough. When purchasing your tickets you will get a map of the site, they also sell cold drinks tea coffee and beer at the ticket office. The car park was more than big enough although I visited in early may, it might be busier during the summer.
A fascinating place, highly recommended,a must see The surrounds are wonderful especially the free standing Tabala 30-40 mins for a visit
Quick visit to this amazing site while en route to a lunch reservation. Well worth the 4 euros entry. Needs about 45-50 mins to appreciate, explore and take photos. We didn't opt for the sound-description on the way round, as were pushed for time, but think there was this option as we saw a gentleman returning the kit. Good explanatory signage, in multiple languages, at each feature on the site and a clear map on the small leaflet - again in several languages. Lady in the kiosk spoke fluent French and was helping people plan their visits to other sites. Site closes at 2pm, so we would have missed the chance to visit if we had tried it after lunch - good job we checked.
T-shaped megalithic structures called taulas with a large stone resting on a monolith can be seen at Torralba d'en Salort, 10 km west of Mahón, Menorca, Balearic Islands, Spain. The taulas date from between 1500 BC and the Roman conquest of the island. Rituals to honor the deities took place here.
€4 Adult entry €2 Kids. Big parking lot. Buy your tickets at the kiosk that also sells some snack & drinks etc. Restoration work is being carried out from 2022 - 26, but don't be put off by that as it's a most interesting and educational archaeological site. An hour or maybe less is sufficient for the visit. Pathways are well maintained and information boards in 4 languages are posted around the site. Children will love it, especially the burial caves. Just remember to bring them back out again.
Great value at 4 euros each. Takes about an hour to walk round. Toilets available
Amazing archeology and prehistoric place, You should touch the stones and feel the energy. All facilities are available like free parking kiosko for drinks, souvenirs and guide. you have visit.
The well preserved prehistoric site of Torralba d'en Salort is well-maintained and provides informative signs with valuable insights into the history and significance of the different structures. You can see and learn about a taula, a talaiot, hypogea, caves, a threshing floor, a cyclopean wall and a late medieval building.

Fantastic restaurant right on the beach. Really busy but staff are so on it, efficient and friendly. We went twice and had the sea bass and seafood paella. Really delicious and generous portions. Very recommendable. Well done
This restaurant was a huge disappointment. The location is great, only a few minuets walk from the main beach, but the food had very poor quality. The chicken especially had a weird taste, and I don’t know if it was the poor quality or the cooking methods. We ordered the fried calamari as well which were fine.
Staff was so lovely and treated us so well during our stay. We had went back a couple of times during the week spent in Menorca. Food was really good quality
I'm not going to slate the place, I think we just made a bad choice with the food. Ses Gulles is in a prime location on the beach with a fantastic view, and the waitress and the chap, who I think is the owner, seemed decent with some good banter. However, when my smashburger came, it looked pretty inedible. In fact, I only touched the burger to inspect it. The roll was saturated on the bottom, and the burger had thin white strands through it. Once your imagination gets going, its hard to enjoy the food. The chips were well made, but thats not difficult. My wife asked for a tuna sandwich and got a tuna salad (must be a sharing bowl as it was massive). The salad did seem very fresh. My stepson got the chicken burger and said it was ok. The extreme downside was the amount of flies and wasps. Nothing to ward them off except for an underpowered propeller thing on the table. We then saw mice under the boardwalk beneath our feet. If we'd looked at the reviews before we went, we wouldn't have visited. Maybe we went on a bad day, but I definitely wont be back. Such a shame as the location is awesome.
All good until we ordered a kids meal for my 11 year old daughter. The waitress said that she would charge a supplement on the bill because 11 is not considered a child. Why when the kids menue is 9.90€? She also informed the supplement would not mean a bigger portion, it would be the same size. On the menu nothing was stated about the age children, frankly very bad service and experience from the start. We were 7 on the table, and all the rest had adult meals. The owner must just be greedy and has no consideration for the quality of his establishment. All the rest of the food was average, sardines were very large and full of spines. Will not be going back.
A kid would prepare a better burger on his first try compared to what we got here. Raw salad, small piece of meat and that’s it. No dip, no ketchup, no bacon, no cheese, no nothing. Stay away! Worst meal I ever had in Spain.
Great spot right on the beach at Son Bou! 🌴 The food was delicious, the boss was super friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit!
Excellent! Very kind, sympathetic, attentive staff, very good value for money food like fresh sepia, fish, sardines, tuna, etc. hard to find elsewhere at that price. We come back often and with pleasure. Sunset with sand on your feet and beach and sea view to Son Bou included :). Gracias y hasta la próxima!

Really beautiful tiny beach and the water is super clear. It’s surrounded of high rocks so it’s protected from the open sea. Climbing in the rock is fun as well like swimming too. Around there are the caves from the necropolis so there’s a specific atmosphere going on but really one of my favourite spots!!
I expected much more based on the reviews, I had seen. I visited as a first stop in the morning, maybe later in the day, light from the sun could bring more magic to the place. If you are visiting the place by car, you will have to park at some point, and walk for at least 15 minutes to the place. The last mile of the road is quite narrow, and there are a lot of holes in the road.
Beautiful as usual in Menorca but fun as well to climb the rocks! Definitely worth paying a visit.
It is of course not the most sandy beach but it is a beautiful spot. Perfect for afternoons and watching the sunset. A really quiet and cosy place.
Beautiful cove with limited surrounding areas for lounging. Sea is difficult to access without appropriate footwear. Parking is 10-15min downhill walk.
Good for snorkeling, not a sun bathing beach. Lots of little coves to see if you like climbing rocks
It’s a very beautiful place. You should access by car through a forest road and walk for 1 kilometer on a sand way. Then, it’s not easy to find a place where leave your towel. Anyway, it’s a really quite a nice to stay little beach. There are some caves that you can see even visit (it didn’t seem enough interesting for me).
Amazing spot... love it 💜

Great little place to spend a morning. Run by a very friendly English couple who were more than happy to chat about their work and the animals. My kids loved being able to get close to the animals and feed them by hand. As everyone says, it is a charity so bring fruit and veg which will be chopped for you. There’s a little shop selling souvenirs which is on a donation basis. I’d definitely recommend satnav to find it though.
We visited the rescue in March, Denis and Jane welcomed us and told us all about the Donkeys and their stories. It was a wonderful morning spent stroking the donkeys and feeding them a few carrots. Thanks a lot for your work and for taking the time to show us around. Definitely recommend a visit during a trip to Minorca (don’t forget your carrots, you’ll make a few friends) ! 🫏🤍🥕
As other visitors have mentioned, this place is lovingly run by a wonderful British couple who are very welcoming and kind. They have put their hearts into this project and take excellent care of their animals! One note on finding it: the parking location is marked correctly on Google and Apple Maps. Once you park, you’ll see a sign that says “Menorca Donkey Rescue”. Follow the walking path to the right and go through the tunnel that goes under the main road. You will then see it immediately. Do not take the walking path to Alaior. We had a little bit of trouble upon arriving so just wanted to make note of this for others.
Amazing place ran by volunteers, they look after them well. Take carrots, water melon to feed them. Pepper the pig loves the water melon. Please leave them a donation they have saved these animals from a bad life and give them an amazing one ❤️ funded only by people popping in.
Such a lovely place! It's purley run by voulneteers, even when they are busy working they will happily spend the time talking to you about the donkeys and the sanctuary. Make sure to say hi to pepper pig who sits for a treat and look out for the little tortoise on the track. It's recommended to bring carrots and apples to feed the donkeys with. For opening times they do vary so check their Facebook page as they post the night before what hours they will be open to the public.
An absolute must visit while you’re in Menorca! The donkeys all have such distinct personalities and are so adorable. Definitely bring carrots and apples to feed them and they will be cut up into bowls for you to easily give them to the animals. Peppa Pig absolutely won our hearts; you tell her to sit and then she is overjoyed to be fed apples! There is a little stall of gifts to buy to remember your time! So special and will definitely be returning!
It is a lovely place. You will need to drive. It is very worth while. The couple who look after this in summer are both kind, welcominging and clearly love their animals. We come every year. It's lovely feeding the donkeys, pigs and horses... and of course petting the cats. Watch out for wild tortoise! 😊 do check out their Facebook page as it often has requests (eg, bring carrots or apples), and given it is free to enter, a small donation is probably greatly received
British couple doing their best to hold on to (buy the land) for this donkey rescue. Lovely couple obviously dedicated to these lovely, gentle, friendly animals. Support them if you can.x

Well worth the short walk from the wonderful beach. There may not be too much of the basilica left but it is still worth a look. The views a pretty good too.
Great place. You cannot walk inside as is surrounded by a wall, but at least is saved in good condition.

(Translated by Google) they charge money to enter a church...there are also people who don't come as tourists and want to go on the balcony... Answer on October 14, 2023: Dear Rutas Turisticas, no, I don't understand that, because the Catholic Church is a very wealthy institution that should cover the points you listed. In my opinion, a tourist company has no place in these types of buildings and certainly not to deny entry. It shouldn't be allowed. You can still offer guided tours for people who wish. However, believers should be able to enter a place of worship at any time.

(Translated by Google) A guided and dramatized tour essential if you visit the island. This non-profit association has created a wonderful route through the history of the town of Alaior and Menorca. They also involve the young people of the town to participate in all of this. The little ones had a great time climbing the bell tower and going down to the air raid shelters. The adults were left speechless with the exquisiteness with which Martí transported us to various episodes in history. Do not hesitate to book this visit, it will not leave you indifferent! Additionally, at the end, a tasting of local products is offered, which could not be more complete.

We're leaving and we won't be back, although I guess it doesn't matter since it seems like nothing matters. (Original) Informalidad.

Nice way to involve young people in the cultural life of the town.
(Translated by Google) Trying to contact them four times and they don't know if the person visiting will arrive, nor if there will be a visit half an hour before, they say that you have to reserve 24 hours in advance, and that puts it nowhere. Two people and they did not know how to inform me or show interest in us making the visit, a shame, they sell it very nice but they do not live up to the expectations they create (Original) Intentando contactar con ellos por cuatro ocasiones y no saben si llega el señor de la visita, ni si va a haber visita media hora antes, dicen que hay que reservar con 24 horas de antelación, y eso lo lo pone en ninguna parte. Dos personas y no me supieron informar ni poner interés en que hicieramos la visita, una pena, lo venden muy bonito pero no están a la altura de las expectativas que crean
